Let's go to the Lord in prayer. Jesus, we thank you for your word. Your word is powerful and it is anointed. Lord, I pray in the name of Jesus, God, that you would speak to us. Lord, I pray that through your word, we would be edified, encouraged. Lord, I pray that every word spoken here today, God, would break chains. Lord, I pray in the name of Jesus, that you would touch every individual here under the sound of my voice. I ask you all these things in Jesus' name. And someone shout, "Amen." Let's give the Lord a great big hand clap of praise. Oh Jesus, I praise you. seated. When you read the book of Samuel slowly and carefully, you will notice that the writer goes to great lengths to point out patterns in lives of the people he is writing about. The technical term for these patterns is known as a type scene. But if you've lived for God any amount of time, you know that the patterns in a person's life are not coincidental. And they are more than just literary devices. Reoccurring moments is the stuff that life is made up of. And if the truth be told, the quality of our life depends on our ability to make sense of these patterns to find God in these patterns and then to act accordingly. One of the reoccurring patterns in the book of Samuel involves the coat of Samuel which was made for him by his mother Hana when he was a child. This coat, which the Bible also calls Samuel's robe and mantle, was special. It was made up of more than just fabric. It was tailored with the tears, prayers, and the sacrifices of a mother who loves her son. By now, we are all familiar with the story of Hana and Samuel. Hana could not have children, but what she could do is pray. And where she learned how to pray, we do not know. All we do know is that she prayed in a way which was incurably passionate and uncommon. The scripture says that when she prayed in the temple asking God to give her a child, her mouth moved, but no voice was heard. Eli the priest concluded that she was drunk and scolded her. The sad reality is that Eli himself had never prayed like this. Furthermore, despite having seen thousands of people come through the temple to pray, none of them had ever prayed like this either. Hana responded to Eli's accusation and said, "I am not drunk. I am pouring out my soul." to which Eli responded in 1st Samuel 1:17, "Go in peace, and the God of Israel grant thee thy petition." And to everyone's surprise, a few moments later, Hana is pregnant. The Lord gives her a son, and Hana determines in her heart that she will give the Lord back a prophet and a priest, declaring, "No razor shall touch his head." Hana did not just say these words, she lived them out. And one day, she made her way back to the temple where she had prayed for a child and she left him there. Samuel would never come back home again. Hana, however, would go back regularly to see him. In 1st Samuel 2:19, the Bible says, "And his mother used to make him a little robe and take it to him each year." This coat, which was refitted yearly for Samuel, was a covering which Samuel cherished and would eventually come to be known by within the Israelite community. And I would argue that every time Hana had to refit that coat for Samuel, she cried again, she prayed again, and she gave him back to the Lord again. And God honored it. No one was allowed to mishandle the coat or to even mess with it, not even the king of Israel. In 1st Samuel 15 and 27-28, the Bible says, "King Saul made a fatal mistake by ripping the covering Hana had made for Samuel." Samuel spins on his heels and tells Saul, "The kingdom will now be ripped from your hands." Saul in all his stubbornness and rebellion was not capable of calculating the power behind a covering made by a mother for her son. The ultimate and final display of the power behind a mother's covering is revealed when Samuel is brought before another spiritual woman. But this one is a witch who thought she had the power to summon up the dead. Knowing well that she was a fraud, she screamed and cried in horror when she saw the prophet Samuel appear, who the Lord had made show up in order to cast final judgment upon Saul. When this witch was asked what she saw, she said in 1st Samuel 28:14, "I saw an old man and he is covered with a mantle." This morning I'm going to preach to you that the spiritual coverings a mother makes for her children have the power to keep them from their infancy into adulthood and beyond. I came to encourage people to keep praying for their sons. I came to encourage people to keep praying for their daughters. I came to encourage people to not just pray for your kids that are in church. Keep praying for your kids that are out of church. I need somebody to help me preach this morning. I know it's a little early and I know we've been having some great church into the late evening, but I feel like this morning God is going to move in this house. I feel like this morning there's going to be some strongholds that are broken. I feel like this morning there's going to be some prayers that are prayed and that are applied to the lives of young men and young children and young women. Praise God. And those prayers are going to go with them. Amen. Hallelujah. throughout their life, no matter where they go. I feel like this morning, we're going to pray some prayers that are going to reach our backsliding children where they're at right now. I believe that by the time this service is over, some of us are going to get text messages. Some of us are going to get phone calls. It's going to be from our children. It's going to be from our sons and our daughters who have strayed from God. And they're going to say, "I'm coming home." I believe with all of my heart that before this service is over amen, God is going to dispatch angels amen. Hallelujah. From this house and those angels are going to go minister to the heirs of salvation. I believe that before this service is over amen. There's going to be some mamas that are going to reach over the pew and lay hands on their children and pray a prayer over them that's going to heal their body that's going to touch their mind that's going to revive their spirit. amen. I feel like there's some kids here right now. amen. Hallelujah. You're struggling. you're here though. Your mom knows you're struggling, but you're here though. amen. And before you walk out of this house, God is going to ignite a fire inside your soul. amen. The world's going to fall off. the confusion's going to go away. and the Holy Ghost is going to show up in your life. amen. I don't know about you. but I believe that God can still touch us. God can still move on us. God can still touch our children in such a way that the devil can't touch them. Amen. That the world can't get them. Amen. That the Come on, Hallelujah. Oh, somebody give the Lord a hands clap or praise. Let's worship him right now. Hallelujah. Oh, come on. For a few more Jesus. Praise God. We're up against a lot. I said we're up against a lot. Amen. This world is getting more complicated, more confusing. Amen. Its devices and its trickery are getting more powerful. But there's still nothing more powerful, amen, than a praying saint of God. And for the sake of this service, I would tell you there's nothing more powerful than a praying mother. there's nothing more powerful than a mother that knows how to pray. amen, in a way that's passionate. amen. I we cannot afford to lose. Amen. our ability to pour out our soul. amen. Too many times when we pray, Amen. We don't just pour it all out. you got to get in the habit of pouring it all out. you got to get in the habit, amen, of pouring it out all out. it's the only way we're going to keep our children in church. it's the only way we're going to get our kids back in church. it's the only way we're going to make it through some of our medical conditions. it's the only way we're going to walk with our children through hospitals. amen. Through courtrooms. it's the only way we're going to make it in 2023. is pouring out our soul. amen. It's time to pray uncommon prayers. it's time to be incurably passionate about praying. amen. It's time. Come on, somebody. It's time to pray like we've never prayed. it's time to call on the Lord like we've never called on the Hallelujah. Oh, hallelujah. Oh, magnify the Lord with me. Let us exalt his name Hallelujah. Oh, come on. There's chains breaking already. I said there's chains breaking already. I'm telling you, in this service, you can lift your hand and pray for your backslitting son. amen. And before you make it out, you'll be getting a text message. Mama, I got to come back to church. it's camp meeting going on tonight. I want to be there. amen. Hallelujah. For those of you women visiting, you can get a call today. by the time this service is over, your daughter can text you, call you, say, "Mama, I'm ready to make my way back to church." I know the devil's been telling you he's got him. I know the devil's been telling you you didn't raise him right and now you can't do anything to fix it. the devil is a liar. the devil is a liar. Amen. God is mighty. God is powerful. God gave you that child. God can keep that child. God gave you the Hallelujah. Come on. You dedicated them 20 years ago, 30 years ago, 40 years ago. your pastor laid your hand his hands on that baby. That prayer is still valid. That prayer is still good. That dedication doesn't expire. Oh, hallelujah. Hey, can I preach to a few young mothers here today? Amen. I I feel this so strong in the Holy Ghost. There's some young mothers here right now. Amen. You have a lot of anxiety about the child you just got. Amen. Hallelujah. You're concerned that the devil's going to take them. You're worried that they're going to backslide. Amen. Hallelujah. Perhaps you even waited on having children a little bit longer than you should have. cuz you were afraid. what happens if they get lost? what happens if they backslide? You got to shake that spirit off. you got to believe that God is mighty and powerful and able to save. amen. Hallelujah. You got to have a little bit more confidence in your relationship with Jesus. you got to have a little bit more confidence in your walk with God. you got to have a little bit more confidence amen in where you're at. amen. Hallelujah. You're not just anybody. amen. You're a child of God. you're in the house of God. the Lord is your God. amen. Hallelujah. And he's not just with you. he is with your child. amen. And he's made a promise to you. and to your children. amen. The promises that are on your life. they're going to trickle down to your children. this is what we're talking about when we talk about a legacy. we're not just talking about the money we leave for our children. we're talking about a spiritual legacy. We're talking about a praying legacy. we're Come on, somebody. Hallelujah. We're talking about a legacy of holiness. a legacy of holiness. a legacy to be able to withstand the ws of the devil. a legacy of spiritual strength and vivaciousness. amen. Hallelujah. I'm telling you. amen. This world's not greater than our God. and in these last days, God's going to be doing what he's always done. keeping his people, loving his people, working on Come on, Oh, let's magnify him here just for a few moments. Hallelujah. Oh, hallelujah. Amen. I was not raised in church. I was not raised in church. And I was I wasn't raised anywhere near a church to be honest with and because of that, I was swept away in the world. I was a a heavy drug user. I was in and out of jail at a very young age. And, I suffered a lot. I suffered a lot at the hands of sin. And my mother really didn't know what to do with it. my mother was not is not any kind of a Christian whatsoever. But my mother has a big heart. She has a big heart and she's rather adventurous. and one day she was my mother goes to Europe just about every year. And one one year she went with one of her friends to Spain. And her friend said, "Laura, my mother's name is Laura." She said, "Laura." She said, "I know you're not very religious." She said, "But we should go to Israel." She said, "We should go to Israel." She said, "I have a friend who is the librarian librarian of of a library that oversees several religious artifacts and relics." And I think it'd be good. We can visit her. We could stay at her house and you could see this library. It's it's pretty fascinating. And so my mother being the adventurer that she is, she said, "Sure. I've never been to Israel." never really planned on going either, but I'll go. And my mother told me that they went to this woman's house and she took them to the library that she was a curator of and she said, "I want to show you ladies something very interesting." and she took them downstairs and my mother said that inside of a huge glass case there was a small piece of papyrus of old biblical documents and the lady told my mother and her friend this is one of the oldest manuscripts of the New Testament and my mother told me she said Ari said I know this sounds weird she said But when I saw that little piece of paper, she said, "I just felt something life." She said, "After we left the library, my friend said, Laura, I want to I want to take you to the wailing wall." And my mother said, "Sure, let's go." And so they went to the wailing wall there in Jerusalem where the Jews pray from sun up to sun down. And my mother told me, she said, ' Ari, I thought I thought I was going to pass out. She said, something hit me so hard. She said, I could just feel goosebumps everywhere. And if you've ever been to the Whailing Wall in Jerusalem, you know that they they make prayers. They write prayers on pieces of paper and then they stuck they stuff it within the cracks of the the stones that make up the whailing wall. And my mother just wrote on a little piece of paper, "Dear God, save my son." She folded that little piece of paper and for the first time in her life, she prayed to the God of Israel and she stuffed that paper inside that wall and she began to pray for her drug addict son who was lost as they could be in and out of jail, depressed and suicidal. And Oh, I I'm telling you, I feel the Holy Ghost so strong here today. I I could have preached anything, but God told me to preach this. I could I could I could tell you a million stories of mothers who pray for their children, and amazing things happen. But I I I I I want to I want to encourage you today. If that's if that's what God would do for a woman who's never stepped foot inside of a church, who's never been baptized in Jesus' name, who's never spoke in tongues, who doesn't wear a skirt, who doesn't tithe, who hasn't lived for God through thick and thin, what would God do for some of you here this morning? What would God do for some Hey, I'm I don't care if you think I'm crazy. Amen. I'm going to be on a flight back home sooner or later. Amen. God get them off suicide. God get them out of depression. God save my babies. Amen. God save my grandchildren. Lord, bring them back to the house. amen. Hallelujah. Hallelujah. You need to put another covering on that daughter. you need to pray, pray, pray. I don't care how entrenched they are in sin. sin is not greater than the grace of God. amen. Where sin does abound, the grace of God does much more abound. I pray that spirit of discouragement off of you. I pray that spirit of discouragement off of you. in the name of Jesus. in the name of Jesus. Oh hallelujah. Oh hallelujah. Hallelujah. Hallelujah. Oh praise Jesus. Give the Lord a hand clap of praise if you love him. I'm sorry. I don't mean to drag this out. Let's lift our hands one more He Jesus. If you feel to keep praying, please keep praying. And the doctor's going to say, "You better pray." and you're going to get to praying. and when you're praying, you're going to find out I got a whole lot of prayers behind me. it's your mother's covering. don't fight it. Don't resist it. don't reject it. Accept it. somebody. Oh, come on. Come on. The Holy Jesus. We have a woman in our church. She came a few years son. but he was diagnosed as autistic. He could not talk. and he was extremely excited all the time. I I think they had only been in about two or three services and he took off running and he went head first into a chair, busted the side of his head, was bleeding everywhere. She felt so embarrassed and my wife has worked with autistic children and my wife just comforted her and just told her there's nothing to be embarrassed about. and we we get it. And you know, he was he'd make all kinds of ruckus during the preaching and we'd just keep preaching. It just didn't bother us. And my wife would pray with him and and she'd hold him in her lap and the mom would pray with him. And one day the mom noticed, you know, he's he's kind of sitting down now through church. And so she kept praying for him and kept praying for him and kept praying for his mind and kept praying for his cognition and kept praying for his motor skills. And every time she would take him back to school and he went to a special school, they would test him and they'd say, you know, he's getting better on his test. He's doing really good on his test. And one night we we had prayer on Friday nights at the time. We have prayer now on Monday nights, but there was a small group of people that got together to pray. I was I was not even in town that service. I was not even there in the prayer meeting. But there was some good elders of the church. This lady in our church only speaks Spanish and all all the elders there and all the people that were in the church only spoke English. But she and the best English she could come up with. She said that she was in prayer in the back of the church and kneeling in her chair next to her son and the Lord spoke to her and said, "If you'll bring your son up to the front, I will heal And she said, "Pastor," she said, "I just froze." She said, "Really with fear? I I I I thought I was playing tricks on myself. I I I just I had I had reports. I had paperwork. I had doctor's reversible," she said. And I finally just got a hold of myself. And she said, "If you tell the elder that's leading the prayer meeting to ask anyone who needs healing to come up to the front," she said, "I'll take him up there right now." And you know how God is. Sure enough, the elder said, "You know, I just feel to ask if there's anybody here that needs healing." She said, "Pastor, I grabbed [name redacted] with both arms." She said, "I held him. I took him up to the front. I put him in the middle of everybody." She said, she said, "I asked the elder, please pray for my son in the best English I knew." They anointed him with oil. She said, "Pastor, within two weeks, he started talking. He wasn't even talking." She said, "In 2 weeks, he started talking little sentences." She said, "Pastor, he came into the kitchen one day and just started talking to my husband. We couldn't believe it." Amen. Is he 100%? He's not 100%. But I will tell you this, he's got a covering over his life. Amen. Hallelujah. He's He's passing all of his tests. next year they're taking him out of the special ed classes. They're putting him with all the other kids. Hey, I'm telling you, that's what happens when a mother just covers her son with prayer. With prayer, and then with more prayer. Amen. That's what happens when a mother lays hands on her child after the doctor says you, "We can't do anything about this." Hey, I'm just telling you, Amen. Hallelujah. Even if there's not a 100% recovery in the life of your child, you ought to be praying so much for your child. that his case is just different than all the other cases. that his situation is just different than all the other situations. hey, I feel the Holy Ghost thundering in this house right now. And I don't think I'm alone when I say Amen. The Holy Ghost is thundering in this house right now. Amen. Hallelujah. Hallelujah. Cuz I got a covering for this child. I got a little coat I'm making for this child. and the devil's not going to take him off of it. Amen. The the world's not going to take it off of him. Hallelujah. Situations and circumstances are not going to take it off. Come on, somebody. Hey yo, go go go go go go go go go. Oh Lord. Oh, hallelujah. Hallelujah. We have a woman in our church when her child was little. They diagnosed him with all them. He couldn't read. He couldn't comprehend. He was partially blind. He had all kinds of problems. She told me, she said, "Pastor, I refused to let him go on the special bus to school." She said, "I took him myself every single day." She said, "I didn't care what they said." She said, "I'd lay hands on his eyes. I'd lay hands on his head and I'd pray for him in the car. I didn't He didn't like it. I didn't care." She said, "I covered my son every single service, every single school session." She said, "I just covered him. I just prayed for him. I just kept praying for him. It took about 3 years." She said, "But I'm telling you, he could see normal now." Praise God. I'm tell he's in our He's in our junior boys Bible study class. He can read. Amen. Hallelujah. Is he 100%? She backslid, lost everything. And a few months ago, her father called me out of the blue. I hadn't spoke to the family in years. And he he said, "Pastor Pra," he said, "I really need you to reach out to my daughter." And I said, "Sure." But before I could get a hold of her, she she got thrown into jail and then a rehab and it was just a mess. And I was in the car one day and the Lord spoke to me and told me again, "There's witchcraft involved here. there's witchcraft involved "Okay." One day I got a text and it was her. I said, "Come on back to church." I said, "I I pastor now in the city of Alama." I said, just we got a seat waiting for you." She walked through the doors of church. And prayed through first service, prayed through. Wonderful presence of the Lord. She spoke in tongues. She just basked in God's presence. And she hasn't stopped coming to church. She's been coming. She's been faithful. But the other day in the middle of a red-hot apostolic service, she came up to the front with a huge jar of money, but it was it was odd bills. It was like there was a ton of $2 bills and and just it was just odd money. I I I can't really describe it to you. It's just odd. And she said, "Pastor," she said, "I've been bound by witchcraft." She said, "This is money that we used in the in the witchcraft that we used to do." She said, "I've years." She said, "But I'm done with this now." She said, "I don't know what you could do with this money." She said, "But I don't want it." Amen. She said, "I I I" She said, "I went into my apartment the other day." She said, "I threw away all the witchcraft stuff I it. Why am I telling you this story? The reason I'm telling you this story is because there really are situations where witchcraft is involved.
