tonight do you love him god bless you and you may be seated and we greet you tonight in the wonderful name of the lord jesus christ the only name under heaven given among men whereby we must be saved to those of you who are watching online i'm bishop billy mccool my wife and i came to knoxville in 1957 and i had our first church service on august the 24th 1957 and god had spoken to me i was in little rock arkansas at that it's now talked about the big church in little rock brother ale homes with the pastor but two o'clock in the morning i was praying in the sunday school room and the lord laid knoxville on my heart to come to knoxville and build a church and a christian school and that's been what 64 years ago and what a great trip it's been and what a great privilege it is to look out over this great congregation there's so many things i i would i would like to say tonight before i begin my my message as a matter of fact i i started writing down some things and uh i want to give honor first of all to the lord jesus christ who's the head of this church and he it's his because he bought it with his blood and and i'm part of that church and we give him honor and then i want to give honor to our leadership of our church first of all we've got the greatest pastoral leadership uh if if you didn't hear that message this morning from pastor mark mccool you better get online and get the archives and listen to what a message and this morning tv at 7 30 i was watching and uh listen to pastor nate whidley that uh the years the locusts have eaten and what i it was it was i heard it last when he preached it the first time and then i got to hear it on tv so that we are blessed uh what some people may not realize let me let me just let me just say this um i'm i've been in the ministry 73 years been pastor here for uh since august of the 24th 1957. and so i've got a lot of years behind me and i get a lot of calls from churches and preachers across the country whose pastors have gotten old and uh they they they don't have a pastor for their church and they're begging and pleading do you know anyone you could you could sin and i saw recently in one of the mission uh magazines of our faith that had i think 15 churches they were looking for pastors and so many times a church that gets old uh not uh just spiritually but numerically then things change times change and then there's no one to take over and how god has blessed our church here with a pastoral staff little did i know that god was given system of cool and myself a son in 1958 that would one day be my pastor and by the way i'm glad to have my first lady with us tonight sister mccool and her 96 year old brother mac and uh i owe all of my honor and all of my accolades to sister mccool because she's been with me from the beginning and then all the other folks that's working behind the scenes there's an old saying that some folks can't see the forest for the trees some folks can't see the blessings of god for the blessings they are so blessed the bible said daily he loadeth me with his blessings and some folks are so loaded with blessings it almost becomes a burden instead of a blessing and they don't know how to appreciate it and oh how i appreciate the the blessing god has been to us back there says brother crabtree he's up in his 90s still driving to church still coming faithfully and i look around i started to jot down uh some names before i get it before i get into my message i've got enough uh and by the way brother flannery we're so glad to have you with us i'd taken a little uh skip from the church back in those days and and brother uh thorpe i was in revival with him when it was over at the state line between uh virginia and tennessee was in revival when i got the call from brother mckinney said brother brother mckinnon brother mccool you're our founding pastor and i'm tired i want you to come and get us a pastor and i said i'll be there this after i close this revival but that was the last revival brother flannery brother uh uh thorpe and from the church before they built where they are now and uh i went home and uh turned brother mckinney out preach a few nights and help me get a pastor and it was just a few years ago i got a you folks a pastor and and and man what a good one we got i didn't i do a good job picking you a pastor my goodness what a pastor and what a uh first lady uh we've gotten sister jamie mccool and then what happens lo and behold their first child was a a girl ashley and she goes and married a whiz-bang of a preacher you've never you will not hear better preaching than you hear from this bullpen and then the next child was anthony and he absolutely amazes me i really mean that well now every time i hear him sometimes it's online uh with sister mccool and i normally alternate the services because one of us has to stay with brother mack but uh it's quite a chore to get him in and out and we waller him around i tell him it's not pretty but we get him in and out of the car and and we're glad that he can be with us tonight but uh i want to say a few preliminary marks uh i i do hope that um that seniority gives a little bit of privileges and and i'm thankful but just thinking up in the sound room there's brother justin massinggail can do anything what a what a whiz-bang he isn't god now all the things that he does right i can't even can't tell all of them but his his daddy is the reason those silver eagle buses are sitting out there he went out to nebraska with his uncle and and he called me and he said i i wrote me a letter coming home i got something to put before you said why don't we go buy us a silver eagle bus and start taking our young folks and lo and behold brother david massing gill and i went over to south knoxville and that the trailways bus company was over there then and we negotiated and bought our first silver eagle bus and started traveling we traveled all over the country from canada to new orleans and um there's a lot of you folk ninja courtney on that bus i'll guarantee if i'd ask you to raise hands there's folks here tonight they got stole their first kiss on the back of that silver eagle bus i won't ask you to raise your hands but anyway he's and then his grandfather and his grandmother was our first pianist and organist sister jeannie massengill and that's a brother reagan's uh aunt and now then that's that's just some of the lineage we've got up there that's brother derek daniel now some folks have been here almost all the life brother derek daniel has been here all of his life his mother was our principal and she was expecting him and she walked a lot of the time god delivered him to us and he's been with us ever since we set up a nursery especially for him and i want you to know is the best investment we've ever had what a what a leader he has been he's over our multimedia or i don't even know what to call the new things that's coming along and and and then uh brother jimmy the bust his son sean's up there behind the board and here we go uh it just keeps it keeps on springing out let me just quickly say and i'll this is just a very brief uh sean debusse jimmy was our was on our camera when we had our first tv program and he's still on the cameras the daniel family brother derek and his mother and his sisters and all the rest brother les and sister carolyn daniel the vault clan sister gladys balt no one not many people remember her but i do she prayed for seven years for god to send somebody to knoxville to start an apostolic church and when i came she told brother leon said god has sent us a little angel said and brother leon said yeah and your little angel will fly away just like all the rest of these tent preachers do he told me that two weeks ago when he's bringing tomatoes and corn to my front door and he said you well you haven't left yet and and and then the richmond family and how they branched out brother charles richmond the wilsons uh brother dean wilson brother jerry wilson and we did some of the most far-out things remember we had the underground church i took the two great big two by twelves and nailed them across the the front door of the church at 123 west columbia and put a sign on it that said close by order of the council do not remove and i i was made it a point to be late for church and when i got there our folks were mailing around and i said looks like looks like they've closed us up what do you want to do and um it was um brother uh i guess the brother had the uh the farm out in the country and he said we can come out to have church in my barn and we who brother gene waddell that's right brother that's where the kenny carpenter's uncle gene waddell we went out in the country and had had uh service in his barn i set a hay bale up on his hand that was my pulpit and i believe if i'm not mistaken that was the night uh that that uh another wilson got the holy ghost brother ernie wilson i believe got the holy ghost in that barn meeting that night well i could i could go on for far too long talking about all the great things that god has done and the people that the lord's given to stay with us and on and on i'm going to stop right there because there's the farmer family the baker family the wilson family the bernard family and on and on and now they look at all of you every one of you are just as important as the first one now i've been going around today soliciting the help of all the young people i said i'm preaching tonight and i want you to show us all of us old folks how you can get behind a preacher and and and help me preach tonight because i have a message on my heart that i want to preach i hadn't even got into it yet but let me tell you one little story before we get into it brother everhart pastored church down in georgia and i heard him tell this story there were farmers and and his dad got too old to farm he couldn't couldn't back in the days where you walked behind the horse and and and plowed with a plow and uh his dad was too old to walk behind the hold up the plow and one day brother eberhard was out there trying to plow and the and the plow wouldn't dig in the ground it just skipped and if you unless you're a farmer you don't know what i'm talking about but i know what i'm talking about because i know what it's like because the the plow you'd think it would be and it would just skip it wouldn't and he's come in and said dad i don't know what's the something wrong said there's something wrong with this this plow and said that uh what can he said let me see said bring it in and he took it into his uh shop every every farm had a had a little building there that they kept the tools in and it took the there's a plow point on that plow of course it's in a v shape and but the very tip end of it is smaller and it bolts on and his dad was old and his dad took that uh point of that platinum and his little shop and he had a uh had a a vice there with an anvil and it took a hammer and it took two or three whacks at that plow just not a whole lot but just and put it back on he said brother eberhard said i took that thing back out there and said that thing just dug right in and said i i i could plow i could hold up the plow but dad didn't have the strength to do it but he knew where to whack and how bad how hard to whack and said it started plowing after that there's a moral to some of us old fellows we may not be young enough to keep up with it i don't want to get out in front of michael when it takes a run around here he may run over me if uh if alan massey if alan and lee don't run over both of us i've got to stay out of their way but i'll tell you what i do know i may know how to whack the point of the plows that some of the younger ones don't know i said i may know how to whack the plow the way some of that but what they may not have learned how so i want you to pray for me tonight as we begin this message i feel very strongly about this and i want you to stand with me and we're going to pray right now father we thank you for this great night of service the great choir the great musicians everything is so beautiful father i pray that you'll anoint the lips of clay god illuminate the the the aged mind and the thoughts that we can open up and say what you would have spoken in this service tonight god you know what you want spoken to this congregation and i ask you to give us those words in jesus name we pray amen you may be seated and i don't usually give you my topic before i read scripture but tonight with the help of a brother derek i want to give you my topic of my message tonight and i feel very strongly about this and i hope i can keep your attention i hope you don't get scattered because i really i somehow feel like folks need to listen to the preacher when he's preaching that that i don't know that may be a little bit narrow-minded and and maybe wishful thinking but i kind of have a feeling that preaching is important and the people ought not to be jingling keys and and looking at the phone and sending texts and i think they really ought to be listening to the preaching of the word of god you believe that all right and the topic of my message tonight is this am i my brother's keeper or am i my brother's killer am i my brother's keeper or am i my brother's killer let that sink in just a little bit some things i'm going to preach tonight may seem a little bit elementary to you but i feel it's extremely important hebrews 6 and 1 says therefore leaving the principles of the doctrine of christ let us go on unto perfection not laying again the foundation of repentance from dead works and faith toward god of the doctrine of baptisms and of laying under the hands and of resurrection of the dead and of eternal judgment and this will we do if god permit now therefore leaving the principles of the doctrine of christ uh this morning i i was anxious to get over here and see the new uh digital clocks that brother justin massengill had installed and i i got up here earlier was walking up and down the halls and seeing those uh beautiful uh new uh digital clocks and i walked in the classroom and there was a sister peggy and brother carl bennett and they had the little bitty ones and i saw uh i wish that i did take a picture but i didn't give it to brother derrick but there was the abcs up on the wall and there was uh the the fishers are catching fish with the and it was designed for little children the age they are teaching and it was beautiful but something hit me therefore leaving the principles of the doctrine of christ let us go into perfection not laying again the foundation of repentance faith toward god and the baptism and the resurrection of the dead we believe that sister reynolds we believe in the resurrection sister woman's lost her son today i believe it was and she's at church tonight this is where our comfort is we're praying for you okay and i looked at that and the abc's i took a picture of it now wouldn't it be something if on our first day of school is the 16th day of this month uh sister sandy teaches uh uh i don't know what all she i know she likes shakespeare and all that grammar and all that good stuff and then uh then there's geometry and earth trigonometry and i read something here a fellow said those anybody that understands that needs a therapist but anyway wouldn't it be something if sister daniel sister sandy and her high school teachers uh the 16th when all those 12th graders come in they've just turned they just got in the 12th grade from the 11th grade and so okay here we're going to go class we're going to go over we're going to go over our abcs we're going to see if we know our abc's i ever come on let's say now this is an a this is a capital a and this is a little a and now then let's go over our numbers one two wouldn't that be something if they started well they it's not that they leave it and no longer teach it and know the abcs and their numbers but they've gone they've graduated from that to something else you've never looked at a man that believes acts 2 38 more than i do you never heard anybody preach it any stronger than i appreciate the holy ghost speaking in tongues you've never heard anybody preach holiness any stronger than i do but there's some things we've already do i need to preach acts 2 30 every time i come to church and you you put oh man if i want to get a rise out of folks acts 2 3 and don't you stop giving a rise i'm not saying don't do it but i'm saying there's some things jesus said i write a new commandment unto you i knew something yes sir he said something new that you love one another as i have loved you my topic tonight am i my brother's keeper one of the greatest responsibilities we have is our responsibility to one another to be a helper to help somebody else when they are in need now let me get on because i'm i'm getting bogged down too too much preliminary and adam and eve knew his wife and she conceived and bear came and said i've gotten a man from the lord and she again bear his son abel and abel was a keeper of sheep but cain was a tiller of the ground and in the process of time it came to pass a cane brought of the fruit of the ground an offering until look okay now watch it closely because there's a real importance in watching these words she bear abel abel was the keeper of sheep cain was a title of the ground and in the process of time that came to pass that cain brought up the fruits of the ground and offering one offering unto the lord and abel also brought purslings of the flock and the fat thereof now you you missed this i don't believe that the only thing abel did was raise sheep i believe he raised some vegetables too i believe but his primary business was uh raising sheep i don't believe that cain all he did was raise uh vegetables and fruit i think he had some sheep but cain he brought his uh gift offering of fruits and vegetables and give it to the lord which was indeed indicative of his attitude it wasn't his offering that god was not receiving it was his attitude that god was not accepting abel he also brought of the first swings of the flock and the threat thereof and the lord had respect to abel and his offering but a decaying and to his offer he had no respect and cain was very wrought that his countenance failed and the lord said to cain why art thou wrote why is thy countenance fallen if thou doest well shall thou not be accepted and if thou doest not well sin lieth at the door and unto thee shall be his desire and thou shalt rule over him now that word lieth in the greek is rabats r-a-b-a-t-s which means to crouch on all four legs folded like an animal to brood or to lurk to la to alert is to lie in wait in a place of concealment especially for an evil purpose that animal he's lurking now god said there's something lurking in your life and either you're going to rule it or it's going to rule you jealousy was the beast which was crouching at the door in the heart of cain let me tell you something if we're every one of us now abel had the same opportunity to allow the wrong spirit to enter his heart and life but you see when god gave respect to abel's offering cain saw that and instead of examining himself and saying oh no wait a minute hey brother abel let me talk to you what do you suppose god didn't respect my offering could you help me a little bit here what he became angry jealousy began to boil up in his heart not at that varmint not at that beast that was lying with but the beast began to crouch upon him and he began to figure out a way that he could eliminate his competitor he was angry and able because he himself now abel now there was a fruit offering which was a thanks offering but the only offering for sin there has to be a life taken god took the life of animals and made uh skins for adam and eve when they committed their sin and from then on it was a blood offering as something had to give its life to take the place of our sins and uh abel is foreseeing that that was going to be god's sin offering he gave an animal but cain gave nothing but a thanks offering and god didn't smile on it god didn't accept it and cain became very roth his attitude changed his looks changed and he began to feel different and look different at his brother if we are not careful we will allow jealousy to creep into our hearts and it becomes a beast that's crouching in our personality that's going to be the beast that's going to pounce upon us james 3 16 through 18 for when if where envying and strife is there is confusion and every evil work jealousy creates envy envy creates strife and where there is strife there is confusion and every evil world now this is not acts 2 38 not acts 2 4 not acts 19 not not acts 8 not acts 10 but it's what we nee we're going on to something else if you're not careful you can allow pride you can allow jealousy to creep into your heart it it could be of another church you can be jealous of what another church is doing you can be jealous over a revival that another church is having you can be jealous because another church is having a a a a great uh increase in numbers and what they do i've got to do something about do you know what they're doing over there do you know what they're doing at clinton do you know what they're doing at maryville do you know what they're doing it don't matter what the others are doing anywhere what are we doing right here and we must not look at other things and say i want to be like them i can't let them out do me i've got to keep that beast under control [Applause] my neighbor gets a new car suddenly my car just don't run good anymore my neighbor paints his house and suddenly the the paint's peeling off of mine i've got i've got to do something that's jealousy you see we spend money we don't have to buy things we don't need to impress people we don't like we try to keep up with the joneses and we get there the joneses have moved i'm not talking about brother robert jones songs of solomon 8 6 set me a seal upon my heart upon thine heart as a seal upon thine arm for love is strong as death but jealousy is cruel as the grave it may be jealousy over your neighbor it could be jealousy over somebody else's bass boat it may be jealousy over somebody's uh garden it may be a jealousy over the car they drive or the clothes they wear you must keep jealousy uncontrolled or it's going to control you he said that it's lying at your door and it's desiring you it's going to conquer you if you allow it to be so back to genesis 4 8 and cain talked with abel his brother and it came to pass when they were in the field that cain rose up against abel his brother and slew him the first murder you think about hey brother let's go out and look at my i want to show you my garden i want you i want you to look at your water and when he got him out there by himself he allowed that beast of jealousy to turn to a beast of murder and he murdered his own brother but brother mccool i i would never murder let's see if you will let's see if you're guilty of murder okay oh i not mean you can't you can't lay that on me cain talked with his brother and the lord said to cain where is abel thy brother and he said i i know not and then a sarcastic way is it am i my brother's keeper what a smart i like thing to say to jesus am i my brother's keeper and he said what has thou done the voice of thy brother's blood crieth unto me from the ground now let's look back at genesis 4 7. god said if thou doest well shalt thou not be accepted and if thou doest not well sin lieth at the door and unto thee shall be his desire there's something desiring you tonight there's something crouching in your bosom everyone here we've got a secret enemy a beast that's crossing waiting an opportunity to his desire shall be you and unto thee shall be his desire but he said thou shalt rule over him now let's get a little light on that we will rule over the beast or the beast will rule over us i want to compare that with another scripture in the new testament watch this now luke 22 28 jesus is talking to his followers his disciples he said ye are they which have continued with me in my temptation even jesus needed someone to stand with him in his hour of temptation oh i don't need anybody yes you do oh brother mccool don't need it oh yes i do i appreciate the love and the confidence and the respect and some were shocked because i was too sick to come to church last wednesday night yes sir i get the 24-hour virus like everybody else does it don't bypass me do i have temptations you better believe it then jesus said and i appointed on now this is you that have stood with me in my temptation because this is what we're getting at i want you to understand that you have a great opportunity to be a minister of god whether you call yourself a preacher or not and i appointed unto you a kingdom as my father hath appointed unto me that you may eat and drink at my table and my kingdom and sit in thy thrones judging the twelve tribes of israel and the lord said simon simon behold satan desires to have you now what did how does that compare with genesis 4 and 7 now then god said to cain that that old enemy is lying as a as a beast and you must rule over he desires you you're either going to rule him or he's going to rule you satan had desired to have you that he may sift you and who as we but wait a minute wait a minute he just said you've stood with me in my hour of temptation i know how thankful he was jesus needed somebody to comfort him angels came to comfort him peter simon satan desires to have you but i've prayed for you how would you ought to have jesus to put you on his prayer list satan deserves you but i prayed for you if jesus prayed for some and peter the bible said god forbid that i should sin by failing to pray for you the bible said pray one for another and what i'm saying to you tonight is our great opportunity to ministry is to stand by one another instead of kicking one another instead of criticizing one another and instead of calling the false servant we need to uplift every each and every one [Applause] but i have prayed for thee that thy faith failed not when when thou art converted so you hadn't been converted yet when you get converted then you need you have a responsibility to strengthen the brethren do you know what the preacher can't do all of that or we can preach and and it can become a um entertainment uh the one who has the funniest stories the one who has the the the annex that you're you like to hear that's one thing but there's one he can't do your praying for you he can't encourage somebody you can you can say if if i do such as well he's a preacher he's just supposed to that's what he's supposed to do but if you go out of your way to strengthen somebody you may do something that pastor cannot do you may do something that bishop cannot do and he said unto him lord i'm ready to go with you to prison even to death and jesus said now just a minute peter the shall not crow this third day before thou shalt thrice deny that you know me why but uh i'm praying for you you're gonna deny me by the way you're gonna use some bad language you're gonna curse you're gonna deny even knowing me well i want you to know peter you'll not come on my pulpit for another year you're gonna have to prove yourself all right no sir that kind of dude that kind of dude he's not gonna be on my elder staff he ain't gonna sing in my choir he ain't gonna operate my electronics why he denied knowing me and cursed uh he no jesus said peter i'm gonna pray for you and by the way i want you to open the door to the new testament church in a few weeks i want you to preach acts 2 38. you're going to be my man i'm going to give you the keys to the kingdom that whatsoever you abide on earth to be bound in heaven and whatsoever things you lose some earth of eaters and yet look what kind of a reputation he had of a liar and a a cursing man and denied even knowing his lord but jesus said i prayed for you i want to tell you something peter needed prayer and you need prayer and i need prayer i need your help many years ago in a barbershop i saw a picture and it so impressed me it left an indelible imprint on my heart when i started preparing this god laid this message on my heart i thought of that picture i got online and i got to looking and you can find anything just about online and i found this picture don't you if you show the picture number one if you could brother derek well it don't come out near as bright as i wanted it to but it was a picture of a little boy carrying his brother on his back and the caption underneath that picture said he ain't heavy he's my brother and i got a little doing a little research back in 1918 a boy named howard loomis was abandoned by his mother at father flanagan's home for boys which had opened just a year earlier howard had polio and war heavy leg braces walking was difficult for him especially when he had to go up and down the steps soon several of the whom's older boys were carrying howard up and down the stairs one day father flanagan asked ruben granger one of the older boys if carrying howard was hard reuben replied he ain't heavy he's my brother in 194 the story doesn't stop there in 1943 father flanagan was paging through a copy of ideal magazine when he saw an image of an older boy carrying a younger boy on his back the caption read he ain't heavy mister he's my brother immediately the priest was reminded of a photo of reuben carrying howard at a boys town picnic many years before father flanagan wrote to the magazine and requested permission to use the image and the quote the magazine agreed and the boys town adopted them both to define its new brand now at some point in our lives most of us have needed to be cared by someone at some point we probably carried somebody else we're human we stumble and we look to each other for help when we do um if you have the other two pictures this this picture caught on and uh uh you can't see this right here but there's a soldier carrying another soldier on his back and and it's uh the caption of that is he ain't heavy he's my brother the next uh pictures of as a picture of a statue of the same boy carrying another one and with this caption it said the road is long with many a winding turn that leads us to who knows where who knows where but i'm strong strong enough to carry him he ain't heavy he's my brother first john 2 9 says he that saith he is in the light and hateth his brother is in darkness even until now now if you hate your brother the bible said you're in darkness he that loveth his brother abideth in the light and there is none occasion of stumbling in him but he that hateth his brother is in darkness and walketh in darkness and knoweth not where he goeth because that darkness had blinded his eyes bishop bell from uh indianapolis uh had a had a belief on this he said a lot of preachers have fallen in sin they don't fall into sin because of lust he said they hate somebody when you let hatred get in your heart it blinds your eyes and then you stagger and you fall because you you you don't have any spiritual equilibrium because you have allowed that beast there's a beast lurking in your life i'm going to tell you something i'm not deviating from the doctrine not one mental second but i'm going to tell you something we need to go on beyond that and there's a lot of apostolic that needs to know how to love their brothers and love their friends in the church and be an encouragement to one another [Applause] matthew 5 23 therefore if i bring thy gift to the altar and their remembrance that thy brother hath ought against thee leave their thy gift before the altar and go thy way first be reconciled to thy brother and then come and offer your gift cain you needed to leave your oh and go and talk to abel and say what's this all about help me help me get through i i feel a spirit of anger i feel the spirit because why did you get accepted and i didn't can you help me what we need to do today and not giving up the doctrine but we already know the doctrine we've already been baptized we've talked in tongues we've shouted we've danced and we know all the rules and regulations but the one thing i do need to know that i must not be a jealous hearted person i must not have envy in my heart i must have strive in my heart i must be supportive of my brother first john 3 17 3 through 11-17 for this is the message that you heard from the beginning that we should love one another boy isn't this deep man this is some deeper hear what bishop is preaching tonight did you ever hear that he's preaching a new doctrine jesus started it he said we're going to give you a new commandment that you love one another not talking about the beast of revelation not talking about the stood upon the sands of the sea and there uh the rising up out of the sea came the beast having seven heads and ten horns and then and all along boy we can make that sound scary i'm gonna tell you something if you let the lack of love keep you out of heaven all the other things is not going to matter but the one good thing we can do we can love one another and we can be supportive of one another now what's this for this is the message that you heard from the beginning that you should love one another not as cain who was of the wicked one and slew his brother and therefore and wherefore slew he him because his own works were evil and his brothers righteous marble now i'm i'm talking about me what do i allow in my heart and in my mind do i remember where there's envy and strife the bible said there's confusion and every evil work we know that we pass from death into life because we join the church because we talk in tongues because we give messages in tongues we know that we pass from death unto life because we love the brethren he that loveth not abideth neither loveth not his brother abideth in death we was having a great service or 123 west columbia we're still in the basement and we had a fantastic service that night and i'm telling you the holy ghost came down folks shouted they danced they praised god and then after a while it kind of settled down and uh folks began to feel like testifying and someone testified that one testified and one brother he jumped up and he said brother mccool said we need to go on beyond the supernatural now there's the natural and then there's the supernatural now what do you do when you go beyond the supernatural he couldn't be satisfied with shouting and talking in tongues he couldn't be satisfied with oh he meant well i don't understand that he i'm sure he didn't realize how it sounds and what it really meant but let's let's do something more let's do something great beyond the supernatural call you out tell your name get tell you your name your your number your social security card tell you what street you live on no love one another i don't mean to be a scalper now forgive me if it sounds like it but i know where i live i don't need to know that address i know what the natural is and i've experienced the supernatural when i got the holy ghost brother and brother cook was about to die brother max and sister mccoy's daddy he had bleeding ulcers had a heart attack and he was in revival there and the preacher went and got ahold and said brother cook i'm going to pray for you i'm like i'm going to pray for you to feel something you never felt in your life my brother cook been preaching for 50 years you know he said to said when i pray that what might that be something i've never felt i felt the holy ghost how about that what might i feel that i've never felt well the brother meant well but what i'm saying don't lose sight of what i'm preaching tonight the thing that we need to keep a check on is how well is your love life toward one another and how you love one another do you gossip about one another do you criticize one another do you tell others about somebody else's fault instead of praying for them give the lord a hand clap we know that we've passed from death into life because we've gone beyond the supernatural no because we love the brethren or nothing could please me more nothing could please pastor more than hear the brother flannery is going to be baptizing in this baptistery that's what this baptist is for it's you don't have to belong to members on the club to get baptized and if you baptize in that precious man oh hallelujah i would be happy if he's baptized in 500 tonight and i pray god will give them revile as he gives us the bible as well he that loveth not his brother abideth in death whosoever hateth his brother is a murderer ye know that no murder hath eternal life abiding in him hereby perceive we the love of god because he laid down his life for us and we ought to lay down our life for the brethren but whoso had this world's goods to see this brother have need and shout out the vows of compassion from him how dwell is the love of god in him not only love in word but love in deed matthew 18 5 15 moreover if thy brother shall trespass against thee go to him go tell him his fault between thee and him alone one of the bad things when folks get offended is something they begin to recruit folks to hear their side and everybody knows and every i don't know who everybody is but everybody knows and then they recruit folks something i don't like about the church tell this this thing get a little bit i said if your brother has a fall go to him and talk to him and him alone don't broadcast it love covers a multitude of sin so am i my brother's keeper [Music] or am i my brother's killer he that saith is in the light and hateth his brother is in darkness if your brother trespass against you go to him tell him his fault and him alone if he shall hear thee thou hast gained thy brother galatians 6 and 1 brethren if a man be overtaken in a fault ye which are spiritual tell the rest of the church let everybody know am i my brother's keeper or am i brother's killer do i want to restore him or do i want to kick him down further and let everybody else know about it so he can't recover from that problem he had one of the oldest stories i can remember being told in the pulpit about people gossiping about one another a fellow told some untruths about another felon and spread through through the community and finally realized he'd done wrong he went to the man he said i i told some things on you that was not true and i want you to forgive me and the fellow said i sure will i said by the way would you meet me such and such point a little no where the wind blew and he met that fellow and he had a feather pillar with him and he took a knife and ripped the end of that feather pillar and just shook it loose and the wind just blew the feathers everywhere he said now go pick up all those feathers now oh he said i can't he said neither can you gather up all the people that you've told the stories on me you can apologize let me tell you something the number one responsibility we have as christians is not to know all the prophecies and not to know all the great hidden deep things in the word of god which is all good but i need to see my responsibility to love my brother restore such a one in the spirit of meekness [Applause] brethren if a man be overtaken in a fault you which are spiritual restore such a one in the spirit of meekness considering thyself lest thou also be tempted romans 14 1 him that is weak in the faith receive you but not to doubtful disputation for one believeth that he may eat all things another who is weak he serves let know him that even despise him that he does not and let on him which he does not judge him that eateth for god hath received him who is thou that judgeth with another man's servant to his own master he standeth or false yea he shall be holding up for god is able to make him stand one man esteems one day above another and a lie and another man seems everyday alike let every man be fully persuaded in his own mind he that regardeth the day regardeth it unto the lord he that regardeth not the day to the lord he doeth that not regard he that eateth is the lord for uh and give thanks to god and he that he is not to the lord he eateth not and give god's thanks for none of us live with the reception none of him dies some folks like our new kind of music and some folks don't some folks like one thing and some folks like another some folks have seen wonder and and the apostle paul what he's saying here he said the day you esteem it don't make any difference but don't let it cause you to hate your brother who are you that you're just another man's servant i don't like this and i don't like that well so we've all got our personal uh likes and dislikes i can go into the finest smorgasbord restaurant they've got big wrestlers now used to before the pandemics shut them down but anyway they'll open again hopefully but you go in and and there is oysters there is uh sushi it looks a lot like raw fish and then there is salmon there's catfish i can't stand to smell it much as he did the reason i don't like fish is i can't stand to smell it and my nose is right up over my mouth and i can't stand to eat anything but i can't stand the smell but i go in and there's raw oysters there's fish of this kind this kind of this guy honey let's go i'm not i who i'm not staying around here this aggregate let that stinking stuff no just look right around the corner there there there is roast beef there's ribeye steak there's chops there's french fries there's banana pudding there's all kind of goodies would you look what's over here just look at all the things that i do like i might not like a few things but there's so many more things i like about the church i want you to know the church at its worst day is better than the world and its best day oh hallelujah oh hallelujah [Applause] i've got guitar sitting all over my office i've got them hanging here and hanging there and all that and every now and then i go and i grab that guitar and i start singing and i and i wind up singing the love song to sister mccool but i sing love songs to jesus but dear lord i don't want to come out here every night and stand here and playing on a guitar and try to sing uh when we all get to heaven and want to be one those were good songs but i want you know there's good things happening around here you don't have to eat fish if you don't like fish but there's many there's so many things that's so good better than it's all right can i pray none of us live unto himself and none of us die to himself a blessed heart some time ago i came home and sister mccool had a grill sitting up on the back porch and the electric cord run out the back wonder what in the world are you doing she said i'm frying fish and i know you don't like to smell it babe i may not like it but it's not that bad you come on in the house and fix number 12 at long john silvers we've learned the secret between mac and sister mccomb myself number 12 you get three pieces of chicken and two big pieces of fish and a extra order of fries hush puppies and extra bread crumbs nine dollars and so you can't eat that cheap now you can't fix it that cheap [Applause] and i'd love to go by there and go through the drive i don't think he they can't go in right now but i i get that number 12 and that there'll be a run on number 12. you'll watch but i i bring it home and they've got a nice piece of fish a piece and i got three pieces of chicken and all the breadcrumbs i can eat hush puppies coleslaw and extra fries you think i'm gonna quit come on give him all the hand clap if you don't like this particular song there'll be another one brother brother jeremy man they know more songs and i i've never heard them before oh one brother brother brother dominique gets up here my goodness i don't know what it's going to sing next sometimes i don't even know what they're saying but i like what i feel oh i lie i know that the holy ghost is moving oh hallelujah when they start singing in the spirits i don't i may not like to smoke but i like the feeling that i feel i may not like this a lot but i want you to know there's so many things i do like i'm not going to be ostracized and give all the clapping where's god right when i got so crippled i couldn't climb steps i took the seats off the pulpit and i have to walk over here and grab a hole to the rail well i want you to know if you want to keep me off this pool but you're gonna have to build bigger steps than that if you don't want me to shout if you don't want me you're going to do a whole lot more than once if you want to if you want to run me off in this church it's going to be a whole lot more than not having me as chair they have me a chair up here on wednesday night but you're going to have to do a whole lots more than having the steps and i've at least got a handrail to hold to romans 15 1-3 we then that are strong i'm holy i'm righteous i believe praise god i'm a true dedicated apostolic hopeless jesus name that's what i am we that are strong ought to bear the infirmities of the weak and not to please ourselves lord jesus listen i've been knowing the lord been preaching his word 73 years young folks i'd much rather please you as please myself i don't expect you to go to my go back to my way i'd rather you be happy and you'll be pleased and come to church because no we're not of ourselves but what's this now what's what what's it we that are strong ought to bear the infamous of the week let every one of us please his neighbor for his good edification watch it now for even christ pleased not himself for even christ but you got to please me i got to approve everything you got to like what i like no i'll get number 12. [Applause] you don't have to like what i like i'll get number 12. i got three pieces of chicken they've got a piece of fish among them and i got all the french fries i can eat the bread crumbs and i usually eat two pieces of fish so y'all can have that other two pieces of chicken and i'll eat and then they'll i'll give the other one to mike and sister mccool they'll divide that they get a piece of chicken a piece of fish piece and a half piece chicken number 12. don't forget that for where envying and strife is there's confusion and every evil word but now watch this young folks i've solicited your help and boy you've helped me tonight i see you out there rallying with me now watch this for where indian strife is there's confusion and every evil work when you allow jealousy envious strife criticism proverbs 6 12-19 speaks of those that sow discord among the brethren and the bible said there's no remedy don't be a discord sower because the bible said there's going to be a a bad thing happen since there's no remedy don't so discard whatever you do whatever you do whatever you're doing i'm closing but get me in proverbs 6 and 12 please quickly proverbs you got a microphone down there i believe then they're on they're on their toes up in the broadcast room and they'll they'll turn you on proverbs 6 and 12. see if i've got that right but let me read this but the wisdom that is from above is pure and then it's peaceable it's gentle and it's easy to be entreated when a person gets in that attitude of discontented angry critical criticizing about everything it's not peaceable it's not gentle and it's very hard to retreat the bible said that wisdom that's from above is easy to be entreated full of mercy and good fruits and without partiality without hypocrisy and i believe and the fruit of righteousness is sown in peace of them that make peace i believe it was pastor nate i heard him say you don't plant i don't know what plant he talked about but you don't plant crabgrass and expect tomatoes to come up you don't plant hot peppers and expect sweet corn to come up whatever your plants what's going to come up the wisdom that's from above is first it says that is from above is first pure it's peaceable it's gentle and easy to be entreated you can talk and it's easy there's a reasonable attitude about it there's no unreasonableness about it and it's full of mercy and good fruit and the fruit of righteousness is sown in peace of them that make peace and read that for me pastor a naughty person a naughty person a wicked man a wicked man walketh with a froward mouth he walketh a forward a forward belligerent hateful i bless god this is what i believe you know i believe in giving you i say just what i think i don't care what i will i believe that plain talk makes plain understanding flowing harsh and then what he winketh with his eyes and when he's trying to influence you he's got a way of it ain't that right ain't that right i want you on my side isn't that right he winked with his eye he speaketh with his feet he his body movements tell you what he's trying to do he's animated he's a salesman of his goods he's selling you on his way of thinking he with the way he walks the way it talks the ways body language tells you what he is all right go ahead he teacheth with his fingers he teaches with his fingers now let me tell you this is the way it is don't you try to contradict me go ahead forwardness is in his heart forwardness belligerence is in his heart he deviseth mischief continually he devises mischief continually he soweth this chord he soweth everybody needs to listen to this right here i'm going to close with this he soweth discord go ahead therefore shall his calamity come suddenly therefore shall his calamity come suddenly suddenly shall he be broken without remedy he be broken without remedy see there's am i my brother's keeper or am i my brother's killer would you stand with me please hallelujah let us go on to perfection john 2 16 says for all that is in the world the lust of the flesh loss of the eyes the pride of life is not of the father but is of the world and here's what adam clark says about these items lust of the flesh sensual and impure desires which seek their gratification and sex strong drinks delicious foods and the like the lust of the eyes inordinate desires after finery and every kind of gaudy dress splendid houses super superb furniture expensive equipment trappings decorations of all sorts the pride of life hunting after honors titles and pedigrees boastings of ancestry family connections great offices honorable acquaintance and the like but that's not what we are now this is what i envisioned this service to be tonight i've gone a little bit lengthy i know that but uh i want this to be a a church full of people that want to come to this altar and rededicate yourself to loving one another not that you don't this is the most loving church that i know of anywhere not putting any church down but if there's anything in your heart and pastor said this today so good confess your faults you don't have to go into details don't go around telling the things about yourself it's under the blood there's some things the bible says it's not one time to be mentioned among you when you repent to god he cast your sins in the depths of the sea and said he would never remember them against you anymore anything you've ever done when you ask god to forgive you it's written the devil has no evidence but tonight and and and this is a little unnecessary in a way but god has laid it on my heart to do it and that is for every one of us to gather around this altar and i want a new baptism of love and consideration for everybody i don't care what kind of music you like i don't care what kind of where none liveth to himself and not die would you start coming right now husbands and wives young folks now i want you to come and gather with me around this where's the music i i should have let you all know ahead of time but i forgive you i you see i i'm just not in step for the new tunes i'm i'm still eating number 12. you say come right on come right on come right on let's let's have a time of worship let's have a time of renewal of love and dedication to one another and love to god oh hallelujah come [Music] on want more holy spirit holy spirit
