praise the Lord everyone let's give the Lord a great day hand clap praise praise the Lord praise the lord well it's so good to see each one of you in the house of the Lord tonight we welcome you those that's been out of town those have been on the road we welcome you back back home and uh again I want to say how much I appreciate uh what's going on around here again brother Sherman Harvey's taking care of overseeing the installation of our of our elevator and it's coming along great and I appreciate so very much what he has done with his uh knowledge and expertise we appreciate it so very much well I don't have a a notebook before me tonight to talk about history but I'm going to ad-lib just a little bit and maybe it'll it'll go on on a desk or whatever we're recording with but I was telling you last week was the last chapter in the the book that I was uh starting to write and I left you about after we we were starting to uh I was directing the Marines in here to do the grading for this property I had directed a little Jeep it was before a day break I was standing out there on the side of the road they told me that would be there and they would be there for me to be waiting on them and so I was so all the lines can't come in a little jeep was leading them with little flags and behind them was a great big old long little boy uh tractor trailers with great big earth-moving machines on them and they pulled in and they they started to do the grading and along about that time right at that time for the long Lee and the Lee family came into my life actually they had come into my life uh quite a bit of time before then because at that time I was preaching uh several camp meetings every year and I was preaching the Ohio at that time Ohio and Indiana was a Combined District and of having the camp meeting in Ludlow Falls and I'd preached it I don't know how many times but I didn't know brother Lee from anybody else but he and his family attended that camp meeting and they went to Florida about every year in the winter time and uh at the camp meeting I they heard me talking about First Apostolic church and our plans to build a a new church and a Christian School and brother Lee was the kind of man that if anybody was going to start building a church and he had a chance he wanted to get my part of it he wanted to help out well they they stopped by and visited us on the way to Florida and then um brother Lee and Ken Douglas came down and he kept asking me about this new church and the Christian School and and I told him and that all I could tell him about it I didn't tell him that uh I wasn't a builder and didn't have a contractor or anybody to oversee it and um so he actually met a couple of trips and uh finally he said to me he said brother McCool um I want to help you build that church but I said I don't know whether you want me to help you or not you won't tell me well I said brother Lee um uh you're a you're a he was a drywall contractor and building contractor and I said uh if you want to give me a a bid uh take the plans and give me a beer on building that building I'll be glad to take it before the break oh no he said that's not what I mean I I want to bring my equipment and I want to come down I want to spend six months helping you build that building well that was just the most thrilling thing to me ever was except I I didn't know exactly how the pain but he said no I don't want any money at all I'm going to bring oh I'm bringing my equipment I got a truck and and whatever equipment he had and and he said that we're going to spend six months well I said that that's that's just wonderful wonderful well about that time he and Ken Douglas they were they were when they came down they would stay with sister McCool and myself and we were going to church that Sunday morning and I'll never forget uh brother Leanne and Ken Douglas they were in the front seat and system of cool and I were in the back seat and brother Lee just reached over the seat and said here brother Nicole I want to give you this and I took the piece of paper out of his hand and I looked at it and it was a check for five thousand dollars well I'd never been given that kind of money all my life and um uh I looked at that and at the bottom of it it said tithe tied and when I saw that tithe then my heart struck me because I I don't believe in one preacher taking tithe from another church you you should be paying your tithe where you get your soul fed and I looked at that and I for the few minutes on the way to church I had I said to myself now and if I give this back to him it's going to hurt is he going to be embarrassed he's going to be insulted and um he may say if that's the way you feel about it then you just do it yourself I looked at that and I said brother Lee uh you may you may not understand me and you may not want to have anything to do with this building program after this but I said on the bottom of that check it said tithe and I cannot take your the tithe you go to brother Coleman's Church up in Dayton Ohio and I said I I cannot I cannot accept this but I appreciate it from the bottom of my heart I don't mean to embarrass you in any way but I'm giving you this check back and it got real quiet in the car and before we got to the the to the church brother Lee said brother McCool that says tithe on it I'm going to Mark through that and I'm going to put building fun and if you'll take this I promise you I'll go back to Dayton Ohio and I will give my pastor a check for five thousand dollars if you'll take this well I said brother Lee under those circumstances I will take it and so uh uh that that that was I think the Lord was putting uh brother Lee and myself both through a test to see if we were honest before God and I still believe that I I was in Porterville Georgia years ago and and a lady uh a second hand she said brother McCool uh would you mind giving me your address and I said well I know I took my pen now she said um I send my tithes I said she said I said some tithered to brother Oral Roberts I sent sometime and I want to send you part of my tithe well I just clicked that pen I said ma'am under those circumstances I will not give you my address because I would be a thief I would be stealing something that don't belong to me and you need to get in your church and be faithful to your home church and that's where you need to pay your tie that your home Church well brother Lee went back home and they did exactly what he said he would do he gave it paid his tithe to the home Church there in Ohio in Dayton Ohio and his own testimony of course he came back on down to help he said brother McCool I got back home and he said I was in the drywall business and he said people started paying bills that I thought I would never collect he said people owed me large sums of money for drywall Contracting that I had already given up on collecting and he said money began to come in and he said I got far more than that five thousand dollars that I started to give to you give a little hand clap praise and of course I told this at brother Lee's Funeral his son said to ride back there now and he knows what a giving a precious man he was well he was coming back and forth uh down here we were in the preparation stages getting ready to start the the the building and brotherly had a flatbed truck and he brought that truck down and uh he actually built a the we had a construction Shack or needed one and he built a construction Shack on the back of that truck and leveled it squared it and brought it right out here and we we built a a road had a great big old rock that we we because it was muddy as could be and that was our Everwood meat there every morning with the men that could work brotherly and I of course we were here every day but there was other men that could be that at different times and would meet in that Shack and and we would we would have a prayer meeting every morning and then we would work and and then on Saturday the ladies would all bring food out we would have a great big time of eating food and and all the time we and we we had not I I finally came around to say brother brother Lee would come home with us at night and um system cool would have a separate fixed forces sometimes would work till 11 o'clock we'd work with the lights and we'd come on the system of cool would have supper for us and we sat down after supper and brotherly never never wound down he was talking and I would sit there and he and system with Uber talk and I'd I'd go I'd go sound to sleep wake up and they he'd still be talking about these plans about building the church well sister Lee she was uh she didn't have the same burden he did of course but he was the the man of the house and she respected him for that and but they would come down and uh while we're in the The Building 123 West Columbia uh on one one weekend I was taking an offering I was taking one of them amen hallelujah offerings and I would go out and if he gave a dollar I said amen gave five out holler Hallelujah gave 10 I'd shout hallelujah Glory hallelujah amen and and um Sister Sister Lee started kind of like she was just chugging I couldn't tell what she was crying or laughing what happened and um brother Lee turned to her and said uh Martha what uh well what's wrong what's wrong oh she said you won't believe it you won't believe it what God spoke to him he said yeah I will tell she says Jesus well he said well go ahead what did God tell you and she just kind of chugged a little bit and of course not this time uh she was just coming down once in a once in a great while on the weekend and um uh so as I said she didn't have the same burden that he did so uh he he was just working gently and he said what did God say she said you won't believe what God told me to give in this offering well he said it don't matter what it was whatever God said you just give it and she wrote a check that night for five thousand dollars and brother Lee came around after church that night and I've never seen a man so happy to have his money given away like he did but he was so so thrilled that sister Lee had got that word from the Lord and then they brought a camper down he brought a camper down in a little while and they were saying the camper at the trailer park but he and I would meet over here and there were some of the most glorious days I ever spent in fact brother Lee has made this statement several times brother Lee and I we after the Marines did all they could do uh we needed more work done and Black Oak construction company had these big earth-moving pans and when brother Lee and I were coming when we had time the the young man that was running that machine how how few minutes it would take him to bring a whole load and and move that that dirt and he said several times to me brother McCool those were the happiest days of my life when we were building that church and finally one we I hadn't I had not said for a long time that I was not going to get alone and finally I was sitting on the couch one night at the at my house I said brother Lee uh we did we haven't applied for a loan and I said I'm not I'm hereby declaring we're going to build that church by faith and I'm not going to apply for a loan and he and I both like to share reality but that was before any uh any brick was laid and we was we was just in the process so there you are we'll uh we'll take up later and tell you more about the Miracles that took place there were several there were there were many miracles that God performed during that time tonight's lesson is our it's called 2.3 and um it's uh it would have been taught if it's been taught on Sunday it would be for for uh this last Sunday but the topic the title of our lesson tonight is go home to your friends go home to your friends our Focus verses are Mark 5 19 and 20. how be it Jesus suffered him not but said unto him go home to thy friends and tell them how great things the Lord hath done for thee and have compassion on thee and he departed and began to publish in decapolis how great the things Jesus had done for him and all men did Marvel Now the lesson text is taken from Matthew or rather Mark chapter 5 starting at verse 1 going through verse 20. and they came over into the other side of the sea unto the country of the Gatherings and when he was come out of the ship immediately there met him out of the tombs a man with an unclean spirit the devil is an unclean Spirit did you know that now and and you'll find out that he manifests himself by multiple numbers uh not just in one place at one time but it's an unclean spirit and I might comment something here um you need to really be careful but the devil don't sometimes slip an unclean Spirit over on you you hear what I'm saying be careful that the devil don't slip an unclean now this was a human being we're talking about that had an unclean spirit in him and I have seen folks they don't actually realize it but they've got an unclean Spirit well I'll tell you this an unclean Spirit don't come from God so if it don't come from God who does it come from so you need to really be careful the Bible said to try the spirits did you know that try the spirits you need to examine and make sure you sometimes the Bible verse not knowing what Spirit you are of and we as saints of God as we fellowship with one another and interact with one another we need to be careful what kind of spirit we get in and system of cool had a young woman uh called her up on the telephone and she was angry at sister McCool about something I don't don't know what it was about now and but she started blessing her out in tongues she and sister my cousin said well hold a hold right they just that's not the spirit of God on you you can't you can't be in and get speaking in tongues of the spirit that you're in so what I am saying now the Bible said the spirit of the Prophet is subject to the prophet and the Bible even speaks of of giving messages and tongues if it's give once or twice most three times if there's no interpretation that that person keeps silence and and speak to himself and to God so the point I'm making right now is you have control of your spirit and and you can be moved of God and if you're not careful the old devil will anger you he'll cause you to say say things that you shouldn't say and and make sure uh wait a minute that's not of God now we're supposed to seek more earnestly the best gifts and the best gift is the gift of Charity so keep this in mind who out in his dwelling among he had an unclean Spirit who had his dwelling among the tombs and no man can bind him no not with chains because that he had been often bound with Fetters and chains and change had been plucked asunder by him and the Fetters broken pieces and neither could any man tame him now let me make another strange comment that that may be strange to you um I've had folks to uh uh want to start having Cottage prayer meeting in their in their home if you've got a church to go to you better go to your church because when you invite prayer meeting in your home the devil loves prayer meetings he loves to go to it and people that that are not uh experiencing up in the Lord they can get into some strange situations and you really I hope I'm not blowing you away with what I'm saying tonight but you really need to be careful I've heard of many situations that folks get into because the Old Devil he will get in there I've had the devil to rise up in church services and I've had to rebuke him I've had to set him down I've had a I I had a phone to lay hands on me one night and and I before I knew what I was doing uh he wasn't of God and I just turned around and I slammed him on the front seat and I started praying for him because he it wasn't the spirit of God in him and and and so I'm I'm dealing with something now you need to you need to to give uh attention to you need to watch your own spirit and every spirit's not of God and just because somebody tells you God told them something the spirit of God told me something that don't mean that it was God that told them and you better stay in the house of God for you can be taught good sound Doctrine good sound teaching and then Jesus said my sheep know my voice and a stranger they will not follow now the thing we we better know the voice of the Lord and we know the voice of our pastor and our leaders that's why everybody needs a home church that preaches the truth and if you when you have a home Church you need to be faithful to that church you need to be there you need to listen to the not the worship service is is absolutely uh essential but you need to hear Bible study and you need to follow your Your Leader going on on now there's been many times that bound him he just break the chains the devil has a supernatural strength and and you need to be careful and always night and day he was in the mountains and in the tomb was crying and cutting himself with songs The Devil is a destroyer the thief cometh not before to kill to steal and to destroy he wants to hurt Jesus does not want to hurt you God is loved and and God is a charity is he said is the best gift of all and incredible the loud voice I said what have I to do with thee Jesus thou son of the most high God I adjure Thee by God that thou torment me not now true power of God torments the devil he don't like the real true spirit of God that will torment him and he had this man held captive and was tormenting him that couldn't keep him dressed he tore his clothes off he would cut himself he would injure himself and that was the devil's Delight and it cried with a loud voice and said well I had to do with thee Jesus thou son of the most high God I adjour Thee by God that thou torment me not for he said unto him come out of the man thou unclean spirit and he asked him what is thy name and he answered saying my name is Legions for we are many Legions means many many as he don't just have one name he has many emphasis of any any many many manifestations of himself and he besought him much that he would not send the way out of the country now there was there nigh unto the mountains a great herd of swine feeding and all the Devils besought him saying send us into the swine that we may enter into them and forth with Jesus gave them leave and the unclean spirits went out and entered into the swine and the herd ran violently down a steep Place into the sea and were about 2 000 and were choked in the sea the animals were so frightened they could not stand the presence of the devils in them and two thousand swine ran down the slope into the sea and was drowned and they come to Jesus and see him that was possessed with devils and he and he and had the legions he was sitting and clothed and in his right mind and they were afraid isn't that amazing when they had found that man that had been possessed that dwelt among the tombs that cut himself screaming blood curdling cries and injuring himself they couldn't they gained evidently they ganged up and the men tried to chain him but he just break the chains but when they came out he was clothed and in his right mind sitting at the feet of Jesus what a beautiful sight but it frightened the people there's a point I want to make there the devil will undress you he will he will he will undress you he will leave you naked of your reputation of your word of your friendship he wants to strip you of everything that's vital and valuable to you don't let him do that to you I don't mean that you have to be possessed but this man when when the spirit of God drove those uh evil those unclean spirits out the man allowed himself to be dressed and it was in his right mind sitting at the feet of Jesus and they that saw it the Bible said they were afraid and they they saw it told them how to be fill him that was possessed with the devils and also concerned the swine and they began to pray him to depart out of their Coast they were more interested in the money they made off of those swine than they were that man delivered from that demonic Spirit that's the difference in the value the world has and the people of God have um there are some folks that would rather see their little girl strip off two-thirds three three-fourths naked and danced around in front of a crowd and and be a cheerleader then they wouldn't see her around the altar praying and shouting and dancing dress decently there's many a person that would would rather their son or their daughter make some big hit in the Sports World and I'm not I'm not preaching against Sports per se but I'm saying that you better have your values right and straight they were afraid and They begged him to leave because they didn't like what had happened let's go on now how many Jesus suffered them not and said to them go home to thy wait a minute I skipped a verse they began to pray him to depart out of their Coast and when he was come into the ship he that was possessed with the devil prayed him that he might be with him how be it Jesus suffered him not but said unto him go home to thy friends and tell how great things the Lord hath done for thee and have compassion on thee and he departed again to publish it published in decoupled us how great things Jesus had done for him and all the men did Marvel go home to thy friends I I picked up a little saying that I don't even don't know where I picked it up I don't know whether I'm the author of it or not but here's the saying the light that shines farthest shines brightest closest to home now everybody that gets the Holy Ghost has got a little preacher inside of them they they you you want to tell somebody about it but everybody that's filled with the Holy Ghost is not called to be a preacher per se now you may be everybody's calling to be Witnesses for he said ye shall be Witnesses unto me in Jerusalem Judea Samara and the uttermost parts of the Earth but now this fellow was so thrilled at what had happened to him he got in the boat with Jesus and wanted to go with him and this is some more territory I've got to be very very cautious in in dealing with it because I God is still calling people to preach he hasn't quit calling folks to preach but everybody think it's a Holy Ghost is not called to preach and you make a a a a bad mistake when you see somebody that can testify good or got a good personality as a brother I believe you're called to preach yeah you're you're just let God do the calling and if if God calls them they'll know it my my twin brother brother Bob he had a little thing he used to say a young man come to him tell him Pastor I I believe I'm calling to preach he said oh you're not called or preached wise son you can't produce go on forget it you know he said if he really is called a preach he'll come back he'll know what he really calls it and if I could talk him out of it he really wasn't called in the first place well that that that might be a good tactic I don't know but uh you you got to be very careful you don't want to discourage somebody from obeying the call of God but at the same time you don't want to encourage somebody to take up a calling that's really not there many uh many a person has lived a miserable life because they picked up a calling we'll see ex and put out the sign that the call then they feel like they've got to live up to it and it's a miserable life but you you need to really pray and seek God and and make sure that it is God that's calling you to preach Jesus said Son you go home to your friends now our mission is the world now we we believe in foreign missions we believe in foreign missions strongly World missions I believe is what we call it in our organization and we support World missions regularly every month we give to the mission of the world missions but if you didn't have a whole missions you wouldn't have foreign missions the light that shines farthest shines brightest closest to home and um we don't the the this one or that one comes along to to receiving money we the the Bible said know them that labor among you and you can be assured that your money is being sent to a worthy cause and we support World missions totally 100 percent but we believe that the light that shines part of this shines brightest closest to home now go home to your friends Billy Sunday if you've known the thing about their history of the the church world made the statement that the tragedy of his life was he had led thousands to Christ and his own two sons were lost now it's a sad thing indeed if we win somebody outside of our family and we Overlook our own family that's our and Timothy said if you don't provide for they of your own household you've denied the faith and worse than an Infidel now you you he's talking about providing materially but materially isn't near as important as spiritually if you don't live a life and present a situation that you can influence your own family it's a sad situation indeed and I grew after thinking about this about some great men who were failures as fathers leading their children uh Aaron was the first high priest when God Called Moses to deliver the children of Israel Aaron was to be his mouthpiece and one time God even said that to you you're gonna you're gonna be to to uh uh Aaron as a God and he you're going to tell him how to say he's going to say it for you but he was the first high priest and his sons were in the same line of the priesthood now nadab and abayu the sons of Aaron took either of them censors and put fire there him and put incense there when I'm reading from Leviticus 10 1-3 and put fire there him and put incense there him and offered Strange Fire before the Lord which he commanded them not and there went out fire from the Lord and devoured them and they died before the Lord then Moses said unto Aaron this is it that the Lord spake saying I will sanctify in them that come nigh me and before all the people I will be glorified and Aaron held his peace he had to stay silent for his own Sons had offered strange for I don't know what that was I I I've searched uh commentaries I've searched to try to and and nobody seems to really be able to to say what the Strange Fire was but it was something that God did not approve of and they were killed now those were sons of the high priest and then I want to call your attention to another one his name was Eli you remember who Eli was Eli was the man that that Hannah took her little boy and well first of all she prayed for a child and uh she was in the the temple of God and the house of God and uh Eli thought that she was drunk and her lips were moving but she wasn't said anything and he uh rebuked her and told her to put away the wine and she said I'm not a woman of strong drink but said I'm a woman of a of a of a uh right one person doesn't that What Spirit was sorrowful Spirit sorrowful spirit because she wanted a child so bad well he prayed for her she gave birth to a child but uh Samuel and little Samuel she brought him when he was old enough and made him an epod made him look like a preacher and took him and turned him over to Eli and Eli was a great great man of God but I want you to notice something about Eli now the sons of Eli were sons of Belial they did not know the Lord now that was the priest the sons of Eli there was training Samuel the sons of Eli were sons of Bilal that's that's good for nothing sons of Bilal the good for nothing and the Bible said they didn't even know the Lord and yet they were ministering in the form of a priest hope and I and Phineas the two sons of Eli the high priest who because he was very old resigned to them the active duties of his office by their scandalous conduct they brought down a curse on their father's house for their wickedness they were called sons of Belial or worthless Men First Samuel 2 12 now the sons of Eli were sons of beloved they knew not the Lord they both perished in the disastrous battle with the Philistines at Apec first Samuel 4 11 and the Ark of God was taken and the sons of Eli hope and I and Phineas were slain and Eli was old and heavy and he fell back off of a gate poster or a gate and broke his neck and and he died his two sons died and the Ark was taken by the Philistines now these were the sons of the priests first uh in first Samuel 8 1-5 it came to pass when Samuel was old now this has really struck me and I want you to think about this we talked about Aaron the brother of Moses that was the mouthpiece and God said to me that the mouthpiece for Moses and then his two sons Eli's two sons and then now we come to the little Samuel the little boy that his mother brought him and gave him to the man of God and made him an Epoch made him to look like the priest and he became a great prophet and a great leader but I want you to notice it came to pass when Samuel was old that he made his sons judges over Israel now the name of his firstborn was job the name of the second was the bio they were judges in Beersheba and his sons walked not in his ways but turned aside after lucar and took bribes and perverted judgment now you might wonder why Bishop McCool so very often gives recognition to our pastoral staff you just can't fathom how thankful I am when I hear the men of God who God has allowed us to raise up and the God is raised up my own son I've got a picture of him and our material in a in a little short bridges standing on the sidewalk of the old basement church at 120 through West Columbia when he was about three years old when he got old enough to he stand on a chair and was saying when we evangelized and as he grew up he wanted to play drums and of course he would sing in church everywhere and if he was sick if he couldn't sing it was a big disappointment everywhere we went he was a great he was a great pulling card drawing card folk came to hear Mark Anthony Sing and he would give his testimony and but as he got older different groups tried to hire him to go and and sing with them or play drums for them and be a part of their band he could have gone with several groups but instead he chose to stay right here at home never he he would go out with us in revivals but he never went anywhere got the Holy Ghost in one of my camp meetings and in Pontiac Michigan received the Holy Ghost and has been in church all of his life and then God suffered to give him a wonderful wife Jamie was one of the sweetest little girls you've ever seen Jamie Jamie Sellers and God gave her to that Pastor Martin McCune gave him the and they have made such a tremendous tremendous couple sister McCool and I feel like we're the Most Blessed parents in the world to have a son and daughter-in-like a law like Mark and Jamie and then God gave them children and then Ashley and God sent to Ashley Nate Whitley and what what a team they are and then here came along Anthony and Anthony married a wonderful beautiful child of God and what a great person she is Kelly and there what a great so you see why I'm when I read these things what it could be and what we are a blessed bunch of people around here we must thank God for our pastors and for our ministers for our elders for our leaders let's give the Lord a handcraft how indeed blessed we are oh my I I just I absolutely cannot express and words how thankful I am our lesson two three weeks ago was about God told Moses there was two particular men that had an anointing of God upon them to work with their hands in gold and silver and iron and and they were they were great Craftsmen God has given us great Craftsmen here in this church I've never seen anybody that that new mechanical equipment like Brother Brad Mays he just said he never was walk up and look at something at a start and I have accused him and brother uh brother Sherwin Harvey what a what a blessing he is and this is just a few and the electronic technicians the men we've got around here doing these things listen this is not just a happenstance God has put these people in these places brother Paul Cook and ours kept such a record of of our of our services by tape and CDs and he can I've asked myself what happened years ago and he can go get it for me we are just so blessed from our our ushering staff our technical staff our electronic staff on and on and I'll forget somebody but but you don't know how how blessed we are we can't we just cannot thank God enough for what God has done the Carpenters what what all they've done around this place it's just been absolutely marvelous here a while back my storage building the the door rotted off of it just about it it did well I mentioned it and I just mentioned it to him and one day I was gone for a couple of days and got back brother Carl Edward Perry put a brand new door on my storage building I loved as a good one took a picture I might frame it but the the the way things from a funeral director to Carpenters mechanics ushers am I making any sense do you see do you see what I'm saying what a church is do you see what a church is how blessed we are with the with the folks we have the the men that stand up here now I know it with oil and pray for the sick these are precious holy men of God well let me go on and let me go on listen to this one David Israel's greatest King well I told you about what happened to Samuel I didn't either here's what happened here's what happened to Samuel um the um I came to pass when Samuel was old that he made his son's judges over Israel the name of the first one was Joel the name the second was Amaya and they were judges his sons walked not in his ways but turned aside after Luther and took bribes and perverted judgment then all the Elders of Israel gathered themselves together and came to Samuel unto Rhema and said unto him
