above every name praise the Lord I wish to join my voice with that of Pastor Mark mul and welcoming uh pastor King with us tonight from the way out in carlbad New Mexico we had the privilege of being out there several years ago and and it's a it's a great place I remember I had a call when we were out there Pastor Mark was preaching and I got a call I believe it was sister scroggin passed away and I flew home but I drove from Carl's Bad to to down in to Texas to uh catch a plane and and before you leave there you better fill up with fuel because over 100 miles there was not one service station anywhere but um the fond members of that great church and we're so glad to have uh pastor King with us tonight and I also want to say this uh we are told um in the Book of Psalms 1 22 and6 it said pray for the Peace of Jerusalem they shall prosper that love thee and uh we're going to take a moment right let's pray for the Peace of of Jerusalem we are experiencing right before our eyes with a medium of Television uh we're seeing the demonstration of man's inhumanity to man but you see God is still in control he it's all in the Lord's hand and we're going to be teaching here shortly but right now let's all stand and we're going to pray let's pray especially for sister flor's uh mother and father and family over there that God put his hand of protection upon them Father your word said for us to pray for the Peace of Jerusalem we pray for your people for we are also Jews by the spirit of God for you said that that there's neither Jew nor Gentile but we're all one in Christ Jesus now God we pray for the protection of the Holy Ghost to be upon sister flor's family and we pray for the Peace of Jerusalem we pray oh God that you will intervene at this time of world trouble this world of confusion you are the the prince of peace and we know that real peace can only come through you we pray that you bless the bible study tonight anoint with the Holy Ghost in Jesus name we pray amen and amen and you may be seated I would uh I would like to remind all of us that Bible study is extremely important we need to understand how important it is before I get into to the Bible lesson I have a bit of U great wisdom to share with you and um it says all I ever really needed to know I learned in kindergarten most of what I really need to know about how to live and what to do and how to be I learned in kindergarten wisdom was not at the top of the kindergarten uh uh graduate Mountain but there in the sandbox at Nursery School these are the things I learned share everything play fair don't hit people put things back where you found them clean up your own mess don't take things that aren't yours say you're sorry when you hurt somebody wash your hands before you eat flush warm cookies and cold milk are good for you live a balanced life learn some think some draw and paint and sing and dance and play and work every day some take a nap every afternoon now as you get older you appreciate this a little bit more when you go out to the world watch for traffic hold hands and stick together be aware of wonder remember the little seed in the plastic cup the roots go down and the plants go up and nobody really knows how or why but we are all like that goldfish and hamsters and white mice and even the little seed in the plastic cup they all die so do we and then remember the book about Dick and Jane and the first word you learn the biggest word of all is look everything you need to know is in there somewhere the golden room and love and basic sanitation ecology and politics and sane living think of what a better world it would be if we all the whole world had cookies and milk about 3:00 every afternoon and then lay down with our blankets for a nap or if we had a basic policy in our Nations to always put things back where we found them and clean up our own mess and it is still true no matter how old you are when you go out into the world it's better to hold hands and stick together I thought that was worthy of repeating something that we had many many many years ago tonight's lesson we're studying the Parables of Jesus and these are stories that Jesus told that told a story uh a moral of the story something that teaches us and tonight the lesson is on the parable of the lost sheep the focus verse is I say unto you that likewise Joy shall be in heaven over one sinner that repenteth more than over another 90 and N just persons that needs no repentance it wasn't cold or raining it was a beautiful Saturday morning the day Little Mandy Dutton went missing several people came together to look for her in the woods behind the Dutton house Daniel Dutton was frantic his daughter had been playing Chase hide and seek and other games with her imaginary friends as he chopped wood that morning around lunchtime he gathered up his tools and looked around for Mandy but she was gone he searched diligently with no success finally he ran into the house to call for help to find his little girl the whole neighborhood showed up calling her name whistling and thrashing through the underbrush it seemed the C church was endless Daniel was paralyzed with fear where could she be the worst that could happen began tantalizing his mind and his hopes were fading away with each hour he couldn't imagine going on with life without hearing her giggles and feeding her cradled in his arms he fell to the Earth and raised his arms toward Heaven God only you know where she is please keep her safe until we find her help her to feel your Sheltering Arms Around her until she's safely in mine finally someone shouted over here Daniel scrambled to his feet and ran like the wind in the direction of the shout he ran with all his might until he came to a small clearing what he saw was amazing there was in the middle of a small patch of grass was Little Mandy cradled next to a resting lamb separated from his mother the lamb would raise his head in blate and then reach down and nuzzle the crying little girl nestled safely against the warmth of his body the lamb seemed to know the little girl's situation was much more urgent than him finding his mother Daniel scooped up the lamb and his daughter in one big hug with tears in his eyes Daniel whispered don't worry little lamb we'll find your mother for now I'm thanking God for sending you to my little girl there's something urgent about something being lost if you've ever been lost or or if you've ever had a child maybe it's momentarily lost you've heard Pastor tell about Anthony when he was just a little little boy getting lost in the department store and how frantic we all were and he ran to the front door and ran to the back and and uh told all the security officers his child was was uh missing and until we found him and we did find him finally we heard him a noise and he was hid in some women's clothes and he was hiding from us on purpose but he hasn't done that since thank the Lord but being lost is a is a scary thing and we're talking about a lamb being lost and Jesus telling this little down to Earth's story to teach us a lesson of the value of finding someone that's lost our lesson is taken from Luke 15 starting at verse three and he spake this Parable unto them saying what man of you having a 100 sheep if you lose one of them do not leave the 90 and N in the wilderness and go after that which is lost until he find it let's paused just a moment to talk about this uh he said which of you having uh 100 sheep and one of them wonders off and gets lost would you not leave the 9 and n and go search for that one lost sheep and I I wish to point out something one of the dangers of a of a sheep lamb getting lost from the flock is they generally nibble their way lost normally they stay with the flock normally they stay with their mother and father and the rest of the sheep but if they get to nibbling and the grass seems to be greener and they just keep nibbling until one after a while uh the shepherd and the rest forgets about that sheep and the Sheep forgets and directly he looks around and he's n LED himself lost and I find that is true in the church today people that that know God when they start nibbling at other things besides staying with the flock if you don't stay with the flock you're apt to get lost and the songs of Solomon the question was asked is is uh where do you feed your flock and and the answer was if you don't know where the shepherd feeds his flock he said follow the footsteps of the flock now if you want to know how to stay with the flock follow the footsteps of the flock don't nibble yourself out into worldliness the devil will show you just enough to get you to go just a little further and just a little further and just a little further and get your mind distracted and the next thing you know you have lost your way you've nibbled your way lost a little bit at a time it may be nibbling at uh Sports it may be nibbling at a television program it may be nibbling at laying out of church it may be nibbling at at some false Doctrine many things will get our attention just just get our attention and we'll we'll get us lost I remember when I was 16 years old I had a great fantasy in my mind of flying I wanted to be an airplane pilot and um I started taking lessons the day I turned 16 I couldn't until then and I started taking flying lessons and uh finally I became a a student pilot and I was uh started traveling and I was in uh Jonesboro Arkansas and every place I went you'd have to get checked out and course nobody would turn a young boy and his teens loose in an airplane without uh checking you out check your log book and then uh riding around the field with you and and then checking you out so um I got checked out that it was a beautiful day the there wasn't a cloud in the sky and um I took off when the uh instructor turned me loose and and I got out of that flat land of Arkansas and um I I needed to practice and you practice doing 360 and 180s and that's doing a complete circle well anybody can do that but the skill was doing a 360 and keep the same altitude because you have a tendency either to gain altitude or to lose altitude and if you lose altitude not knowing what you're doing you can get yourself too low and if you raise the nose of the plane too too high uh you you forget what you're doing and before you know it you you've stall the airplane and with an instructor they make you do that so you realize that before the the plane slows down so much that you lose air speed that you come to realize that well I was practicing this and they would even make you practice uh deliberately stalling the plane you get a plenty altitude you raise that nose and until it fell through and then you had learned how to uh recover your your your stall well I was just enjoying and myself doing the 360s and the 180s and and just practicing trying to develop better skills at flying and I did that for a while and then I decided Well let's I better go back to the airport and then I realized I didn't know where the airport was I had forgotten I I got so bit got I got a a airplane pilet back there ra say he knows what I'm talking about and and my in my attention to learning some skills about how to watch my instruments and keep the right speed and so forth I had forgotten where I was and and and I couldn't see the airport anywhere well in just a little bit there there was a little terror in my heart because of what do you do now if you don't even know where the airport is you have got this you've nibbled your yourself lost you've got out here and now then you and so I finally turned the plane in the direction that I thought the airport was and I flew for a little and the most beautiful sight I'd ever seen at that time was when I saw that airport ahead of me but I I had got my mind on something else now let me tell you something in living for God if you're not careful you can do your 180s and 36 and you can do your stalls and you can and you can forget where you are and you can find yourself lost and what I want to put across to you tonight let's realize what it's like to be the lost sheep and then what it's like to loan the lost sheep and now it's my duty to go and find him and his fake this Parable saying what man of you having aund sheep if you lose one of them does not leave the 9 N in the wilderness and go after that which is lost until he find it the other day this probably doesn't seem very serious but our great great grandchildren they all children left to play hide and seek like the little story I read you earlier and they they they like to hide and let you find them and to hide from one another well uh here a few weeks ago uh we was all getting in the car uh getting ready to go eat and of course by having three or four cars and uh all of us want the children to ride with us and and sometimes we're not for sure who they're going to be riding with and they want to ride with M and papa our mom and dad or whatever well we was out getting in the getting in the car and everybody thought everything was fine and then we look back and Elanor our our great granddaughter of Anthony and Kelly's she was inside the building banging on the glass we had all forgotten her because one thought she was with somebody else and one thought but she loves to get behind that couch and hide and I suppose that's what she had done that day she had hid but she hid too long let me tell you something be careful watch after the little ones now I'm not just say I'm I'm I'm not saying that just spiritually uh but physically also but we as a church we need to watch after our sheep we need to watch after our little lambs and see to it if if if they're not in church let's try to find out where they are and let's keep them in the house of God and keep them in the fold well so much let's go and when he had found it he layth it on his shoulders rejoicing now of course uh when they found Anthony he's just a child we were all excited that we found him a and let me tell you another little true to life story while I'm talking about Pastor Anthony uh something happened that drills in my mind that that uh is troubling to even think about it right now but uh when we got was out at Westtown and uh Mark and I were together and sister M and um Jamie they and Ashley she course she's old he's she's older than Anthony and Anthony wouldn't keep up with us come on Anthony come on and he liked to look in the windows and and and he'd lagged behind and U I said Mark step behind this post over here and let's make him understand he needs to keep up and uh we just stepped in a storefront there and he was just just what just carefree as he could be and but he he looked around and none of his family was there and the thing that shocked me I was watching he couldn't see me but here come down the the aisle or the runway there the hall was Sister mul Jamie and Ashley and they were just talking and and he looked up and saw them and he smiled a smile of relief they walked right by him they could have touched him and they didn't notice him they walked right by him he didn't follow them he didn't holler at them he stood there and he looks so forlorn he he looked so sad his own mother and grandmother and sister they could have touched him and he looked up at him and they went right on and there he stood well I couldn't stand it after that I I came out from my Hiding Place and and but this haunted me and I thought if that was real that could and we as a church if we aren't careful we will allow a sheep to get lost in our own crowd we get busy with our own self and our own interest we need to give attention to little ones I'm talking about spiritually those that need our attention and and don't don't give up on them keep your eye on pray for them now then said when they found that sheep they he put it on his shoulder and came home rejoiced and said look what I found and when he cometh home he called together friends and neighbors saying unto them Rejoice with me for I found my sheep which was lost there's nothing so exciting than to find somebody that's drifted away from God and to see them brought back into the fold I've seen I've seen folks that have the spirit of the elder brother that's jealous when a backslider comes home we don't need to be jealous we need to be rejoicing when God brings a prodal back home we need to be caught in the van together we need to be looking for the shoes we need to be looking for the robe we need to rejoice when they come back home give the Lord a hand [Applause] clap I found my sheep which was lost I say unto you that likewise Joy shall be in heaven over one sinner that repenteth more than over over 990 and N just persons which need no repentance uh I've heard folks um make disparaging remarks or or or insensitive remarks about other back in the altar again they're back and there they are getting reca there they they here they go again let me tell you we never should Tire or we should never get get weary with praying with someone that's got a problem you don't know what they're going through you don't know what's caused them to lose out with God if there's some way we can bring them back to the house of God and get them prayed through if they do it again we'll pray for him again now give the Lord another hand I hope I can help you see what I'm talking about I send you likewise the joy in heaven over one siner that repentance Matthew 18:12 how than you if a man have aund sheep and one of them go astray does he not leave the 90 and nine and goeth into the mountains and seek that which has gone astray he leaves the the safety of the hund and goes into the mountains wherever they are we've got to find them and if it be that he find it verely as and you he Rejoice more over that sheep that of the N9 and N which went not astray Isaiah 411 I want you to notice this he shall feed his flock with like a shepherd He Shall Gather the Lambs in his arms and carry them in his bosom and shall gently lead those that are with young an arm with which together lambs and a bosom in which to carry them now we've got all kind of uh good programs uh associated with our church and thank the Lord for every one of them for every age group and even the older groups or whatever but the one thing that is mentioned here an arm with which together the Lambs and a bosom with which to carry them this church may we have arms that reaches out to the lost sheep may we have some if it's the elderly if it's a middleaged if it's a female if it's a male whatever it is let's have an arm that's designed especially for that that particular group or that particular defective one and have an arm to reach him and then the church we've got to have a bosom to put them in the a place of consolation and comfort to welcome them back home home the arm is a symbol of strength an outstretched arm signifies to protect or to punish and we don't want it to be an arm to punish we want it to be an arm to protect John 10:1 and 12 he said I am the Good Shepherd the Good Shepherd giveth his life for the Sheep now we are supposed to be the UND Shepherds of God for the church and Jesus said I'm the Good Shepherd he gives us the example of what we should be and the Good Shepherd gives his life for the Sheep but notice this but he that is a hirling and not the shepherd and I've underline this because this next line means a lot to me it said but he that is a harling and not the Sheep whose own the Sheep are not seeth the wolf coming and leaveth the sheep and fleeth and the Wolf catches them and scatters the Sheep who's own the Sheep are not it's amazing the the wisdom you can get from uh everyday Affairs there's a an old saying they had back in the country going to beat up on somebody say I'm going to whip you like like a rented mule now what does that mean I'm going to whip you like a rented mule that means you don't whip your own mule like you do someone else's you are more merciful with that which belongs to you than what belongs to somebody else let me tell you something the hling the the man that's preaching for a salary the man that's preaching just for a job when he sees the wolf coming he F when he sees hard times coming he F when he sees a crisis coming he F because he's a hireling but in the Bible say who's own the Sheep are not now then he fle and the Wolf scatters the Sheep I think of this a lot of times what I hear some preachers preach preach would they preach that way to their own folks I've heard preachers away from home uh really lay down the law he said feed my sheep not beat my sheep it's my job to feed the flly the Bible said to feed the flock of God over whom God has made you overseer now he's made me an overseer to feed the flock not to beat the flock and I'm to have a bosom to put put them in and who's on the sheep they are my sheep God has made me the unders Shepherd and you have got a pastoral staff around here I have never seen a more caring group of men and women if anyone seems to be hurt if anyone goes to the hospital they any way they can if they feel like somebody needs them it it it bothers me it hurts me when you're hurt and that's the way the church needs to be we'll not leave the Sheep when the wolf comes Mark 8:22 and he cometh to BEDA and they bring a blind man unto him and he besought him to touch him and he took the blind man by the hand and led him out of town and when he had spit on his eyes and put his hands upon him he asked him if he saw now follow me they brought a blind man to Jesus Jesus and first of all Jesus needed to take him away from the crowd of doubs he took him out of town and he spit on his eyes I was out a a preacher of another denomination uh was on the radio right there brother Hershel goair brother Johnny goair is a father and this fell was on right after us and we'd preach uh Jesus bapt Jesus name baptism and healing and miracles and so forth and and he wanted to come and argue with us about it and and he he he said uh he had real thick glasses and he said uh if you got that power said heal my eyes and of course God's not going to heal a scoffer like that and and I said well is it all right if I do for you what Jesus J did to the blind man yeah go ahead take you I said Jesus spit in his eyes no no no don't you spit in my eyes well God's not going to heal him because he had he was a scoffer anyway but my point is when Jesus spit in his eyes there was another scripture said he made clay now that's what this church this preacher said uh of another denomination he said the Bible don't say spit in his eyes said he he made clay and I turned to the scripture where it did say he spit in his eyes but Jesus laid hands on him and prayed for him and said do you see he said I see men as trees and after that Jesus put his hands upon his eyes and made him look up and he was restored and saw every man clearly now my point in this Jesus prayed for Jesus now this wasn't Peter Paul James or John this was Jesus he spit in his eyes he laid hands on him and prayed for him and said do you see he said I I I see but I see men as trees now we as a church and we as individuals there's a lot of things that we pray for that you don't get an instant complete answer for that prayer and sometimes we say well God didn't answer it God may be doing you like he did this man you may be seeing as trees and now my point of this is let's pray again let's pray again I was in and and I believe you heard me tell this during a camp meeting the brother had me uh was ining the Revival there and they brought uh a girl wilus to the church she was a death mute and uh we prayed for her and and nothing happened so we asked the whole church to fast and pray the next day and we did we fasted and prayed the next day and they they brought her up to be prayed for the second night and we laid hands on and prayed for him and nothing happened we prayed for her again and nothing happened and we said we believe and we prayed for a woman the third the third time and when the third time she began to dodge like this and and and what happened God opened her hearing and the sudden noise frightened her and and everyone sensed something that happened and um when we kind of calm down with a shouting rejoicing I stepped up beside her and and I saw that she couldn't read my lips I said woman say I want to praise the Lord for healing me tonight she spoke into the microphone and said I want to praise the Lord for healing me tonight the next day she was at her sister's house she was home from Death mute College where she was going to school and she laid down on the couch and she was asleep and her sister come walking through the house and she raised up and said I wish you'd be quiet so I can get some sleep Jesus said do you see he said I see men the trees I'm going to pray for you if you haven't got the answer just keep on praying keep on praying and the church don't give up on your children the church don't give up on your marriage the church don't give up on your financial situation you may be lost in turmoil of of disappointment the church is going to pray for you let me show show you something in Luke 22:44 this is not in your Sunday school book neither was these other things Jesus the Bible speaking of Jesus said and being in a being in an Agony he prayed more [Music] earnestly and his sweat was as there were great drops of blood falling to the ground let me can you imagine Jesus ever praying an inerest prayer no but the Bible said that Jesus being in agony prayed more earnestly did you know sometimes you and I need to get the burden of a soul a burden of a lost sheep a burden of somebody that and we may we need to pray more earnestly more determined with more a until his sweat became as great drops of blood that that fell down to the ground he prayed more earnestly let me read this to you Amos 3:12 thus sayi the Lord as the shepherd taketh out of the mouth of a lion two legs or a piece of an ear so shall the children of Israel be taken out that dwelt in Samaria in the corner of a bed and in Damascus in a couch now I I understand understand the meaning of the scripture what was going to happen to God's people if they got away from him they were going to be destroyed but I want you to notice the implication here as the shepherd taketh out of the mouth of the lion or two legs or a piece of an ear now only a Shepherd would Hazard so much for so little he don't have much to work with two legs an ear but he's taking that he's fighting the lion he's risking his own life to take out of the mouth of the Lion a piece of an ear two legs let me tell you something you may think that boy that girl of yours has gone that may seem like the nothing but two legs and an ear left God remember Jesus Took a uh the high priest server's ear up off of the ground and put it back on his head and and healed it let me tell you something he can take a boy or girl he can take a husband and a wife and he can put it back together when all odds are against him Hallelujah only a Shepherd would Hazard so much for so little two legs or a piece of an ear we stake the hard earned reputation of the church and ourselves on such sorry material knowing that only God can make a a sheep out of scraps how many of us came to the Lord hopeless not much left not much left David said thy gentleness ha made me great a man who had slain His Thousand killed a giant routed the war-minded Philistines claimed greatness not because of his success as a fighter but because of God's gentleness God's man must be bold but not Brazen he must be humble but not timid he must preach with the power of a pile driver and at the same time he must be as delicate as a brain surgeon in his preaching he must must practice the technique of tenderness we're fighting a mean enemy and we're going to beseech him in the name of the Lord and we're going to take from him remember it was David when he went to take his brother some food and see how they were doing in the battle and there was no war going on and and he he said why aren't they fighting he said there's a giant comes out every day that's over 9 ft tall and challenge us send a man to fight him well what about my brother bened what about sha what now what about King Saul he's Head and Shoulders taller than him not Saul that nobody can go fight David said I'll go fight him let me go and he made sense a fles so the word got to Saul's tent and he Saul called for him and he says son you're just a you're just a child he's been a Warrior from his youth up you can't go fight him David said sir I was taking care of my father's sheep there's a message right there taking care of the father's sheep they're not mine they're the father's but I'm supposed to take care of them the Sheep are not M they're his but and I'm supposed to and David said I was taking care of my father she and a lion came out and got one of these lambs and said I went out after him and said when he rose up against me I grabbed him by the beard and I slew him a bear came out did and I grabbed the and I slew him and delivered the lamb back into the flock this is what we're willing to do we'll face odds of our own reputation we'll face the odds of disappointment but we've got to get that lamb out of the clutches and the claws of The Lion and the bear let me read this scripture and my time my time is up I time myself at 8:45 Matthew 12:20 he said a bruised Reed shall they not break and smoking flax shall he not quench till he send forth judgment into Victory what he's talking of a bruised read the old Shepherd sometimes out there on the backside of nowhere he makes him a little whistle out of a re and he can make music with that re and sometimes uh in the course of a day that re will get bent and it'll it it stops making music and he he's come to love that little homemade instrument and he could throw it away but he don't throw it away he'll take a a string from His Garment and he'll carefully bind up that a bruised Reed will he not break but he'll bind up that Reed with a thread from his own garment and and until he can make it make music again sometimes there are folks that get bruised in church and they lose their song they lose their music oh we could just let them go God's got somebody yes oh God may have somebody else but let me tell you we're not going to turn loose of those that are bruised we're going to stay with them until we can get them repaired back to Good Health until they can make music again and the smoking flax shall they not quench the flax was a a wick that was down in the oil and when that oil began to run out out it would on the farm we used to have the old kerosene lamp and and when the kerosene would run out the the wick was coming up it was it would get black and it get the the the the flame would get smaller and smaller and bu and by it would it would actually go out and just start smoking well you could take that Wick and throw it away or what it really needs it needs trimming and putting some oil we had a little a little half a gallon oil can that just was made for that to pour kosene and the kerosene lamp of course you city folks don't really don't understand what I'm talking about some of you somebody but anyway that's the only light we had was car but it just needs new fuel in it needs trimming and putting a new light to it and it'll start burning bright you might have to clean the globe because it's got smoked up let me I tell you sometimes our lives begin to run low on fuel we St we don't pray like we should we we don't have the blessing and before you know it our light gets gets dimmer and dimmer and we begin to smoke what he said that the smoking Flex is not going to quen he's going to put more oil in the lamp and it's going to burn brighter again that's what we here find the the the lost sheep put more oil in the lamp let's repair the broken the bruisy just stand your feet with me right now patiently listens to the young of the impetuous as they say give me he watches sadly prayerfully as they gather all together and take their journey into a far country knowing full well that it will result in disaster he watches the waste the follows when one walks away from God heartbroken he watches the behavior which sepers the their relationship with the Saints and sends the Wild and the Restless into a foreign country while those wondering ones are feeding swine we're feeding the calf while they're pillaging the present the church is preparing for a party while they do everything possible to soil and to spoil we're keeping a robe ready the church is shining shoes and shoing out the malls of the closet and making ready the ring for a dirty hand if his people like his Pastor in the church are making sure they will be at home to come home to and that's what we're here for is to make sure that the backsliders and the lost sheep has got a home to come home to when they come home father we thank you tonight for your word we pray that you will let the word of God sink deep into our hearts and let it find a place place that it may grow and we may be stronger in you and may we be the examples of the shepherd that's searching the lost sheep may we be the example of the father that's keeping the home place for the prodal to come home to Father dismiss us from this place but not from your presence bring us back at the next appointed time in jesus' name we pray amen shake hands and be friendly you're dismissed in Jesus name
