above every other name there is no other name under Heaven God of Highly exalted him and given him a name that is above every name I'm glad that I know that name tonight you've heard the announcements and we'll be proceeding with the work of the Lord I tell you some folks I'm happy to see you tonight brother and sister Cole they both had some real serious health issues here lately and have been able to well they've been in the hospital and they've had a a lot of hindrances but it's so good to see them here tonight brother and sister Cole we love you and we we are praying for you as we pray for each other with our sicknesses and that that happens to everybody the Bible said the Apostle Paul left so and so in a certain place sick he uh raised the Dead from the man that put up the upstairs window but yet there was another a friend of his that he left sick so we don't know why God don't heal everybody yes we do it's not his will but he he Jesus himself self said that there were many widows in the days of the Widow of name but the only one received her answer and there were many lepers but only one received his healing of by nipping seven times in Jordan so we just need to walk humbly before God and ask God to touch us he he's the God that he with all our diseases we do want to be praying for brother Jack Rutherford he needs prayer also a sister Pat Hill and uh brother Ben moles there being my brother Ben molds and sister Pat Hill they're both in the hospital we want to be praying for them are you ready to get into the word of the Lord tonight all right we are studying a God of Justice a God of Justice as I study this lesson um it's uh is he a God of Justice or is he a god of Mercy well he is both he is a God of Justice for those uh who do not seek nor deserve Mercy but he's also a god of Mercy for those who will accept it but this is our study title for this government a week's Bible study and our focused verse is found in Micah chapter 6 verse 8. he hath showed the o man what is good he has shown the old man what what is good well there's a lot of things that are good Jesus uh kind of uh jog the thinking of the Rich Young Ruler when he he said the good master and Jesus said to why call us thou me good there's none good but one that is God and of course when you call him good you're calling him God and who in any sense could call him less than good so he is God but he has shown the old man what is good and what does the Lord require of Thee but to do justly just do justly that we could go and we can look up that word in the dictionary and we could Define it in several different ways but I think we all pretty well know what Justice Means what is correct what is good what is right and we'll just break that down and what does god require of us to do justly and to love Mercy these two words go closely together and to walk humbly before thy God now the word for justice in the Hebrew is mishpat and it appears 421 times in the Old Testament and is frequently translated as judgment in the King James version so every time the Bible uses the word judgment it's not meaning sometimes like with you think of some Judgment of of Doom the judge can pronounce you innocent as well as guilty and uh God that when he uses this word judgment in the New Testament many times it's talking about Justice our lesson text is taken from the book of Psalms and I'm going back to verse one there's some background scripture we want to deal with Psalms 146 starting at verse 1. praise ye the Lord praise the Lord O My Soul now David is not talking to a congregation he's talking to his soul he's telling his soul what to do uh praise the ye the Lord praise the Lord O My Soul sometimes we need to have a little talk with our soul until our soul what to do he isn't here tonight he has to work nights but several years ago brother Ron Dunn was going through some trials and and he was really battling some things and and I'd cancel with him and and I I didn't seem to be getting through to him and I had a I had a CD I remember hearing that first uh going to the I believe it was a wedding of brother uh Michael uh mango many many many years ago and we was riding with Brother David Carl and older Denny and it was a a gospel tape by Ray Stevens The the fella that has so many company Tunes out but he has a gospel album out and uh several several good songs on it but one of the songs was uh I think it's just about time to have a little talk with myself and in that in that song it said lately I've noticed all my friends avoiding me and the girl that loved me just up and walked away and the friends I've known they start avoiding me and he said I think I know the reason why and it tells everybody lately I've been thinking of nobody but myself I and he said I think it's just about time I have a little talk with myself and he goes on several verses and at any rate um I gave brother Ron a copy of that that disc and a few days he called me and met with me and he said brother McCool that's exactly what I needed I'll be back in church and what he said I needed to have a little talk with myself and if you and I will be honest and have a little talk with ourself and and what is Justice do I Believe In Justice David said I I think it's just about time to have a little talk with My Soul he said well I live will I praise the Lord I will sing praise unto my god well I have any being now we read the scripture here the other night uh the the lady that had died and um Folks at all gathered around her and said while she was yet with us they were showing uh aprons and and garments that she had made for the poor was and my thought was while she was yet with us and uh whatever you're going to do you better do it while you're yet with us because there's not a whole lot you're going to do after you're gone so David has said I will sing praise unto my God while I have any being well I've still got a mind to do it well I've still got breath in my body while I'm still in my being and while I'm in my right mind I I've heard the testimony many times I walk I've praise God I woke up this morning with my right mind and while you've got your right mind you need to to praise the Lord and he said put nothing and there's what he's telling his soul what do you tell your soul he said put not your trust in princes nor in the son of man and whom there is no help uh if you're gonna have a little talk with yourself you need to say hey I I can't trust myself and I can't trust the flesh because there's no help there and putting putting not your trust in princes nor in the son of man and whom there is no help his breath goeth forth he returneth to his Earth in that very day his thoughts perish all he has it's going to perish when he closes his eyes and gives up the ghost so you need to put your trust in something that goes beyond this present life and I've got news for you I know who goes beyond this life praise God verse 5 happy is he that hath the Lord hath the god of Jacob for his help whose hope is in the Lord is God happy as a man that hath is hath God of the god of Jacob his hope you can be happy if you found the god of Jacob he he said therefore Abraham was I am he's the god of Abraham Isaac and Jacob and if you know him you can thank God because he is the God of Justice and not only the God of Justice he is the god of Mercy and then he said this God which made the Heaven and Earth the sea and all that there is in is which keepeth the truth forever aren't you glad you know him uh David's talking to his soul now and we need to remind ourselves every now and then the Bible God said that he stretched out the heaven alone and spreading forth the Earth by myself and I know that one that did it because the Bible said in the beginning was the word the word was with God and the Word was is God and the same was in the bed again and With God all things were made by him and without him was not anything made that was made in him was life and the life was the light of men and the light shatted into darkness and the Darkness converged in the aren't you glad you know who it is I so I want you to know who he is so I want you to know who this Earth and he said he did it by himself oh praise God which executed the Judgment now that word judgment which we described while ago which is used for justice which executed Justice for the oppressed now I got news for you in this present world and in the past history the oppressed often don't get Justice they they I've heard it said that it's better to be rich than to be innocent when you go into the court of law because if you got the means wherewithal you can present your case in a very powerful and convincing way but if you're unable to do that you're not going to get the same Justice now sad to say that it shouldn't be that way but we know it is which executeth Justice now the word is use judgment here which executed the Judgment judgment for the oppressed which giveth food to the hungry the Lord luceth the prisoners I got news for you the lesson tonight is the God of Justice and this is what the God of Justice does for you he provides food for the hungry he loosens the prisoners you don't have to be wealthy you don't have to be famous you don't have to be a in in great demand but God looks at you no matter how poorly you may be no matter how low on society is wrong you may be God looks at you and he offers you justice and compassion again remember that word judgment is justice verse 8 the Lord openeth the eyes of the blind the Lord raiseth them that are bowed down the Lord loveth the righteous now there is there is a verse of scripture I have used here um uh fallen out of multitude that uh to do evil and and then it it also tells him uh to honor your king and honor the Lord and so forth but it also says uh don't I'm paraphrasing them don't witness in the positive for a person just because he's poor because you've got to speak the truth at all times I give I gave a prayer request while ago for brother Jack Rutherford and there he says God bless you brother Jack good to see you here tonight I've had you on my heart and mind and we've been we've been praying for you it is so good to see you I I look around and sometimes I don't I don't see folks that's here and and I guess sometimes I see folks that are are here oh Lord the Lord preserveth The Strangers he relieveth the fatherless and the Widow by The Way of the Wicked he turneth upset but the Way of the Wicked eterneth upside down now this is the God we're talking about the God of Justice the god of judgment he said the Lord preserveth The Stranger he relieves the fatherless and the Widow but the Way of the Wicked he turns upside down now it don't matter how little you have or how much you have God's going to administer Justice to him the Lord shall reign forever even thy God o Zion unto all generations praise ye the Lord now then we've had a little talk with our soul and we've told our soul a few things that we need to be reminded of every now and then I'll go around the house and I won't realize it but just because who you talking to what do you say honey I was talking to myself I was talking to myself well sometimes you like to talk to somebody simple so I've talked to myself Micah 6 verse starting at verse 6 wherewith shall I come before the Lord and bow myself before the high God shall I come before him with burnt offerings with calves of a year old now listen to where we're going listen where the scripture is going wherewith shall I come before the Lord what can I do what can I give him what can I do for the Lord wherewith shall I come before the Lord and bow myself before the high God shall I come before with burnt offerings with calves of your old will the Lord be pleased with thousands of rams or with ten thousands of rivers of oil shall I give my firstborn for my transgression the fruit of my body for the sin of my soul now now stop and think about this now Marcus is is putting some extreme things on the board now I he didn't have ten thousand rivers of oil he didn't have all these things but it said shall I give this to God he has shown thee o man what is good and what does the Lord require of Thee does he require thousands of rams 10 000 rivers of oil Michael said if I could do it if I could give him thousands of rams ten thousand rivers of oil shall I get my firstborn from a transgression the fruit of my body for the sin of my soul question mark how much can you give to the Lord what can you do for God he hath showed the old man what is good and what does the Lord require of thee but to do justly not ten thousand rivers of oil not the your firstborn not Ram not a thousand Rams but he said just do justly and to love mercy and to walk humbly with thy God um Let me let me go right here um here's what David said in in Psalms 51 15. oh Lord open thou my lips and my mouth shall show forth by Praise God open my lips show forth I want to show forth your praise for thou desireth not sacrifice else would I give it that Delight us not in burnt offerings the sacrifices of God are a broken spirit a broken and a contrite heart o God thou Wilt not despise thou desirest not sacrifice else would I give it call David was acquainted with giving gifts to the work of God and he was chosen King when Samuel called Jesse to the sacrifice you remember when when God told Samuel to go to the house of Jesse and I'm going to have you to anoint me a king and Samus said oh God I can't do this if Saul hears the ideal kill me he said I've got a plan that Saul won't be there he said give a sacrifice and call Jesse to the sacrifice now he might be there if you're going to have an ice cream supper he might be there if you're going to have a party but don't worry about it if you're going to have a sacrifice Saul will be there give a sacrifice and call Jesse to the sacrifice he won't be there well now David was acquainted with sacrificed and yet here he is then God don't require it let's look at that again oh Lord open thou my lips and my mouth shall show forth thy praise for thou desirest not sacrifice else would I give it thou Delight us not and burn offerings the sacrifice of God are the sacrifices of God or a broken spirit and a contrite and a broken and a contrite heart that will not despise thou desirest not sacrifice else would I give it I got news for you what God requires you have a good supply of it whether you know it or not now God put a price on it and there are certain things if you've got enough money you can buy it and you can enjoy certain things if you've got enough means to purchase it but I want to tell you something you don't have to have one red Penny one silver dime to get the favor of God he said if you required sacrifice David said I could give that I could give that but it said that's not what you're asking of me because he said the sacrifices of God are a broken spirit and are broken in a contrite heart God wants my heart broken up it was my spirit broken up and it won't surprise to come from my heart and out my lips and that'll pay my debt right there the Give the Lord a handclap there's a beautiful little verse in the scripture that says it speaks of the calves of your lips when a calf was a sacrifice that's what they gave to God well not today God don't expect us to bring animals in here and and us to throw them up on the Altar and burn them that's not what God wants now he wants the calves in my lips and and the calves in my lips is this quiet group of you singing about the Praises of God he what what's he going to do he's going to do more and pardon me if I get loud I might get loud if I get louder why am I getting loud because I'm offering the sacrifice of my lips God's a God I'll give him a hand God what am I doing I might get loud Hallelujah I might giggle down what's he gonna do he's gone no more than happy I can even ask him David was equivalent of giving gifts to the work of God he was chosen King when Saul uh invited Samuel invited Jesse to the sacrifice First Chronicles 22 14 Now Behold in my trouble David said I have prepared for the house of the Lord a hundred thousand talents of gold and a thousand thousand talents of silver a million talents and a brass and of iron without way for it is in abundance Timber also and stone have I prepared and thou miss out there too The Spoils of War and his future his Frugal lifestyle had allowed David to amass a tremendous amount that he could give to the work of God a tablet of gold weighed three thousand and three thousand shekels and was worth 5075 pounds 15 Shillings and seven Pence half penny one hundred thousand such talents were therefore amount to 507 million 578 000 and 125 pounds sterling now that is that the modern Bible is correct I I didn't figure that all out by myself a thousand of gold weighed 3 000 shekels and was worth 353 pounds 11 Shillings and 10 pence or the immense sum of 353 million 560 pounds 16 Shillings and four Pence Sterling both sums of mine to 8 861 million 169 791 pounds 13 Shillings and four pounds are in American money it would amount to 2 billion 411 million two hundred and seventy five thousand four hundred and fourteen dollars and yet David said now this now these are things that David gave God he gave this for the building of the temple God wouldn't let him build it said David you you've got too much blood on your hands you're a man of war you I can't let you but I'm gonna let your son build it but I'll let you contribute to it and there's a great thought in that there's some things I cannot do but I can help others do it and David didn't know one time did he get mad at God because God said you can't build it wait a minute let's go back David said opened down my lips and my mouth shall show forth the praise for thou desireth not sacrifice that's what I give it not delightest not to burn offerings the sacrifices of God are a broken spirit a broken and a contrite heart oh God thou will not despise thou desirest not sacrifice else would I give it no matter how much money you've got I don't know who to name any more they got so many billionaires now the uh ahead of the internet and and we're used to uh talk about it as rich as Henry Ford and I guess he's a corporate Gordon compared to today's riches but let me tell you something all the money Bill Gates has all the money these uh high price athletes that's being paid hundreds of millions of dollars hundreds of millions of dollars they don't have enough money to buy the favor of God I said they don't have enough money to buy the favor of God but I'll tell you one thing there was a young man you said on the front seat of this church Roger Davis every week he was here he put in an envelope with two dollars in it but I want you to know he had enough to buy the favor of God did you know if you had David said what God wants it is a broken spirit that he wants my free he he was my repentance if I'm willing to repent and turn my life over to God I don't have to have wealth Hallelujah behold in my trouble I prepared for the house of the Lord yes sir but that didn't buy him any favor what gave David the favor was when he was willing to Bow him when when Nathan the prophet came down the road and gave David a little parable so there was a two men lived down the road said one was very wealthy and one was very poor one had everything he needed he had he had many sheep and land had everything he wanted the other one was a poor man he didn't have anything but one little you lamb one little poor little and said he loved that lamb like it was his daughter or sister and said he raised that that little lamb up in his arms and loved it dearly but said one night there came a stranger and he knocked on the door of the rich man and said that the rich man spared to take of his flock though he had many and he sit down the road and got that poor man's one little util lamb and killed it for The Stranger and at this point David became Furious I imagine his neck being swollen out and his face was flush and he said the man that did that will surely die the prophet said Thou Art the man Thou Art I'm the man yes you're the king you have everything you want you could have as many wives as you want as many concubines as you want anything you want but you saw a a a poor man who was a soldier in your army you saw his wife down to the river taking a bath and you called for her and you committed adultery with that man's wife and you sent him off to war and told the men to retire from him when he gets the heat of the battle and said he was killed in war and David began to repent and it's a I am guilty I am guilty I'm guilty I'm guilty I'm guilty now what do you how much money could you give well let's just assume that that Bathsheba and her husband have a son how much money could you rake up to pay a young man to say son I committed adulter with your mother and I had your daddy sent off to war and had him killed how much money would pay for that crime how much would it take to straighten that up is there any amount you would accept for the one you love there's not enough money at at Fort Knox there's nothing no way God said David said God wanted silver gold I'd give it I said God don't want that the only thing God will accept for me for what I've done money won't pay for it but there's one thing that will do it the calves of my lips the praise and worship a broken and a contrite spirit a broken and a contrived spirit means uh it means I'm truly sorry forgive me Lord God is a god of not only he said to let uh to have justice but love Mercy I I love mercy and I love Joseph because when I come to God with a broken and a contrite heart and he God sees my spirits broken and I'm truly sorry for what I've done it don't matter what is it he'll say I forgive you that's what he wants it he wants math he wants my repentance yeah oh hallelujah hallelujah oh Lord open thou my lips and my mouth shall show forth thy praise one day the disciples Jesus noticed a little disturbance among the disciples and what's going on boys what's going on oh they said that there's some mothers here there they want to interrupt your teaching they're wanting to have you touch their children but we've we've take we've taken care of that we shoot them away we and Jesus turned on them and rebuked them how dare you he he said suffer the little children to come unto me and forbid them not for of such as the kingdom of heaven I'm not looking for the rich and the wealthy the powerful I'm looking for that said bring them to me I love the scripture because it said he took them in his arms he didn't just sit with his lips but he literally took those children in his arms and said suffer the little children to come unto me and forbid them not for of such is the kingdom of heaven you'll have to excuse me but uh and I I know we've got to keep order in church and we can't just turn the children loose to run wild that's not even fair to them they'll get in trouble in school in other places if we don't have an order I I realize that but I've got to tell you this it Thrills my heart to see these little they love these Wide Open Spaces and and to see them extra that little well both of my way on back there before now I can well remember Ashley and Anthony and and uh what what time the Bible was it she called it by printed by my she had it was a little a little dictionary she had had her a Bible my written bible and and our den and that old green couch should lay that down and she would preach and and and our den and she had a she had a little had a microphone and and when she'd preach Anthony try to get the microphone and she said by far get him Papa get him get him Papa and I'd laugh because he was younger than her and he was trying to get the microphone and get him and she'd she'd be she'd be preaching well as he got a little older at first everything you get anything you want he asked him when he wants a ball but a little while after that everything he wanted was a Bible a Bible every special day birthday Christmas Valentine did he want he wanted a Bible now I don't have the note with him but when he was in the uh second grade he wrote a note and wanted to be a preacher and tell him well now let me tell you something Jesus said and he and continued on and this same story he said now Fella's going to tell you something about children he said before we offend one of these little ones that believe in me he said it would be better for you that that tile millstone around your neck and cast you in the depths of the cell that used to scare me to death I'm telling you for proverbially speaking I guess he'd say if a lot of this thing about well the heavyweight tidy and thrown in the ocean no way you could swim he said it would be better than to offend one of these little ones and now then I've seen the grandchildren grow up and what a preacher my grandson is and what a minister of Music uh granddaughter is and while a husband he's got and what a wife uh uh Anthony's God said what a great and well I'm so thankful and now then I've got great grandchildren and just I saw Easton when she was a little the first thing she you know she she would shout and praise the Lord in church Eleanor did the same thing and does the same thing and now we've got old Callaway and when the choir starts singing We Might Get Loud he might jump out of your lap about yards if you don't hold him tight and and uh I got such a thrilled uh Pastor Anthony Vista the Revival up at up in Kentucky the uh the Asbury Revival of having and they was all that was new to them well see that's what we do all the time I I I'm not criticizing them at all but as I as I watched that video uh it looked like our son in our service it looked like what you do all the time with the the the the the crap from all over the United States they they they don't see people worship like that and yet if if we don't do it it's unusual around here and and when that those those folks started shouting and worshiping oh they had they had the video or Callaway he was clapping his hand and they got all the attention of all those people all around because that young man he must be experienced in being with a crowd like this well I I guess I'm I guess I've chased another uh thought another rabbit but what I'm saying now is the justice and the mercy of God the one great thing it demands that every one of us can give him and that's the Praises of our lips when we do that well let's go back because I'm I'm running out of time oh Lord open my mouth thou desires not sacrifice or I would I would give that now here's what here's what the Lord said about the religious leaders of of his name tell you what I I am I printed out uh the Matthew 23 verse 23 through 39. now this won't make you shout but and we making a comparison of what Jesus thinks of those who have a sincere heart and even though you've sinned the the woman that brought to Jesus that was called in the act of adultery you're we've we preached that not many services go by that we don't tell that story again and again and again because it is so appropriate uh these men that caught this woman the act of adultery and that's going to Stone her to death and Jesus said let him that's without sin cast the first stone and I he didn't hear her loudly repenting but I do believe she was repenting in her heart because he said where are thine accusers and she said Lord I have none Jesus neither I condemn they go so don't send them but he offered his forgiveness for that that woman the woman at the well who had had five husbands and was living with a man that she wasn't married to Jesus told her all about that and said if you ask me he said I'll give you living water and and but this is the story of Jesus and it tells the story of The Prodigal Son that wasted his substance and then yet he was welcomed back home by his his father and story after Story Jesus told an experience after experience uh Jesus had when zycus the the crook attacks collector climbed up in a tree to so it could see Jesus when Jesus came to where it was suzakis come down because today I'm going to abide and Trust what I'm telling you now is the difference in hypocrisy and reality of repentance and offering praise and repentance to God here's what Matthew 23 starting verse 23 said Jesus says woe unto you scribes and prayers we're still it wasn't vote just because you were subscribed or because you're a person but it was because the individual because he said war unto you scribes Pharisees Hypocrites for ye paid tithe of men and anias and cometh and have omitted the weightier matters of the law judgment mercy and Faith these ought you to have done and not to leave the other undone now I've got to take care of something right here because a lot of people use this scripture uh to uh to justify not paying tithe but let me explain something to you Jesus said you pay tithe of in us coming and have omitted the weightier matters of the laws of I've heard people dwell on this even preacher said see that was back under law well the Ten Commandments resemble a little also adultery Thou shalt not kill Thou shalt not covet thus shall not purpose witness and that was unto the law also but also it said you have obeyed omitted the weightier matters of the law judgment mercy and Faith these ought you to have done that meant paying tithe also these are you to have done and not to leave the others undone he said you blind Gods which strands of the net and swallow a camel woe unto you scribes and Pharisees Hypocrites for you make clean the outside of the cup and of the platter but within they're full of extortion and excesses the blind Pharisees cleanse first that which is within the cup and platter that the outside of them may be clean also what do scribes and Pharisees Hypocrites for your likened to Whited sepulchers which indeed appear beautiful outward but are within full of dead men's bones and all and of all uncleanness even so ye also outwardly appear righteous unto men but within you're full of hypocrisy and iniquity what would you scribes and Pharisees Hypocrites because you build the tombs of the prophets and the in garnish the sepulchers of the righteous and say if we had been in the days of our fathers we would not have been partakers with them in the blood of the prophets now this is all in one chapter wherefore ye be Witnesses unto yourselves that ye are the children of them that which kill the prophets fill ye up then the measure of your fathers ye serpents your Generation of Vipers how can ye escape the damnation of Hell wherefore behold I send unto you prophets and wise men and scribes and some of them you shall kill and crucify and some of them shall you Scourge in your synagogues and persecute them from City to City that's that's enough right there there's more he spent all this time and he's talking about justice but now then he talks to a a woman caught in the act of adultery he didn't call her a hypocrite and blind God but he was offered her forgiveness the woman at the well forgiveness The Prodigal Son forgiveness let me tell you he's the god of forgiveness tonight we're just down to your feet with us right now you have everything it takes to go to heaven you've got everything it takes you've got the sacrifice of a broken or you can have sacrifice of a broken and a contrite spirit but the Bible said Pride I do hate a holy spirit goes Before Destruction uh proud I knew hate and a holy spirit goes before fall that's what happens when you don't have an attitude of humility and uh humble and willing to repent and turn your life over to God well I'm speaking to a crowd of folks tonight that I believe the vast majority of you here tonight have already experienced this great mercy and forgiveness and if you haven't all you've got to do is to turn your life over to him David even though David has a mass over two billion dollars worth of things for the house of God he wasn't depending on that for his forgiveness for what he had done he said what I have done it requires a broken and a contrite spirit father we thank you tonight for the Blessed word of God we thank you for a wonderful Church a congregation that that loves the truth and loves people and and realize that humanity is a fallen species that needs a savior and needs a church and needs love and compassion and they they need forgiveness and we pray o God that we'll be able to reach out and offer it your word tells us that the goodness of God brings men to repentance and we want to preach the goodness of God because we know that this does bring repentance while the prayer dismiss us from this place but not from your presence bring us back at our next appointed time Comfort the heart of brother Roger's family and friends and then those that that have never met him they've heard him talk on the radio and it's called in and he's touched this city this city has been touched by this young man that's never stood in the Pulpit he's never sung a song in church but he's had an impact I pray God that you'll use his life and death as a tool to win men and women to the Lord Jesus Christ all this we ask in Jesus name amen
