we greet you tonight in that wonderful name of the Lord Jesus Christ what a joy it is to be back in Bible study we've had a great weekend uh Resurrection weekend Easter weekend and what a great time we had what a great crowd of people and um but we we've gotten just as good a crowd tonight as we had on the weekend it may not be as big but it's just as good and it's so good to see each one of you here tonight um had the privilege of being in the service brother Triplett and and his uh being I recognized as Bishop of the church in Clinton and my brother Miller as a the pastor and um brother uh brother Triplett he made a great point he talked about he said I I hate I hate to hear preachers get up and say I'm sick and tired of this or that and the other and he said one brother got up and said I'm sick and tired and said he happened to think about me sitting behind him sitting but I got over it uh and uh you've heard me several times one of my favorite scriptures is the preacher sought acceptable words and I believe that that's there's a lot to be said about that to choose acceptable words but before I read my scripture tonight and keeping with my philosophy let me give you my title tonight the preacher sought acceptable words tonight my topic is because I see it on the screen oh fools and so far oh fools and slow of heart the preacher sought acceptable words I heard a little story about a a preacher that uh that he had a deacon that was known to slip up and say kind of bad words now and then and he wanted to talk to him and he uh took him on a trip a fishing trip and he thought that'd be a good time to talk to him about his language and not not lose his temper and say a wrong thing and as they were fishing the the pasture they were out there and he caught a a great big fish and I mean it fought that preacher and the preacher really man and got him almost to the boat and the fish got loose the preacher turned to the Deacon to have the bad language she said sometimes it's time to say something well saying all of that Jesus said those words himself old fools and slow of heart we're going to get to that in a little bit but I might explain to you Jesus even himself said you're not to say reckon and said if you say thou fool you're in danger of Hell Fire so there had to be something very important for Jesus to say these words and uh but the our our King James version of the Bible is translated the a new testament from Greek into English and there's some words that they had a hard time finding exactly the word to say what the original meant and according to the commentary of Barnes said that that word fool it did not mean what we think it means today you call someone a fool but it meant someone less attentive someone not paying attention it wasn't sticking with them and it wasn't as though almost a curse word that you say about you you fool but Jesus is the one that used this language and we'll deal with that as we go along in this Bible study tonight this is actually a post-easter message it's actually entitled Witnesses of the Resurrection our lesson text is taken from Luke 24. I'm going to do a lot of reading tonight because uh there's a lot to be covered and yeah I thought uh Sunday night when Pastor um uh quickly said if you'll help me preach I'll get to her brother Bob my twin brother he said now folks if you'll help me preach he said I will get through in just a few minutes if you don't said I just drawn on and on so maybe an hour and a half if you well I'm not going to threaten you like that but every preacher does appreciate response from the audience to let you know that you're listening as a matter of fact my my second thought topic uh is taken from this very idea when Jesus said oh thou fools and slow of heart this is after the resurrection starting at verse 1 of Luke 24 now upon the first day of the week very early in the morning they came to the Sepulcher bring the spices which they had prepared and certain others with them and they found the stone rolled away from the Sepulcher and they entered in and found not the body of the Lord Jesus and it came to pass as they were much perplexed therefore behold two men stood by them in shining garments and as they were afraid and bowed down their faces to the Earth they said unto them why seek ye the living among the Dead he is not here but is risen remember remember how he spake unto you when he was yet in Galilee saying the son of man must be delivered into the hands of sinful men and be crucified the third day rise again the angel said don't you remember what why why are you here looking for a dead man now I'm going to deal with this as we go along but there's a lot of things that that um that we weep over that we should Rejoice over the very fact that they found an empty tomb was the greatest thing in all creation I just suppose they had found a corpse they came with spices ready to embalm him a hundred pounds of spices and and there was going to they had already wrapped him in linen cloth but they was going to unwrap and and put a hundred pounds of perfume on him by way of spices now think about this uh somebody hadn't been listening to what Jesus said I love what John 10 41 says it says in John put that on the screen if you can get it right quick they've got buttons to push the thing they can get things real fast but I want you to notice what uh John 10 41 says it says John did no miracle everybody was transfixed on Miracles what he could do and this that and the other we're not there to see him walk on the water they had seen him raise Lazarus from the dead they had seen him Take Five Loaves and Farley and and five or five bottles and two fish and feed five thousand people they they had seen all these things what else did they need now this scripture says John did no miracle but everything John said about this man was true I want to tell you something Miracles is one thing but there's something that supersedes miracles and that's the word the word in the beginning was the word the word was with God and the Word was God all things were made by him and without him there was not anything made that was made in him was life and the life was the light of men get the book by Brother Whitley on the I AMS of Christ and find out how many times he is the the I am and uh he at one time scolded them for following him for the Loaves and Fishes and following him for the Miracles John did no miracle but everything he said about Jesus is true now we'll if somebody professes to do great miracles and folks will flock after them but let me tell you something there's something more important now I don't mean to minimize Miracles at all I don't mean to minimize Miracles at all but if a blind man was here tonight and I could lay my hands on him and speak the word and he could see and I didn't preach the truth it's less important for him to get his eyesight than it is for me to preach to you Acts 2 38 and and Acts 2 4 John did no milk but what he said Give the Lord a hand clap the pictures are written books about it this that and the other and everything demonology and is this that and the other get the book from Brotherhood I am and see what all Jesus is it is the truth whether you see a miracle or nothing if there's never another miracle performed he is steady at The Miracle Worker and John did no Miracles but what he said about Jesus you can depend on it Hallelujah well let's get back to this lesson and they entered it and found not the body of the Lord Jesus and it came to pass as they were much perplexed perplexed because they didn't find a dead band the angel said we'll seek you the living among the Dead do you not remember what he said um and it came to pass they were much perplexed therefore behold two men stood by in shining garments and they were afraid and bowed down their faces to the Earth and said to them why seek ye the living among the dead he's not here but it's risen remember how he spake unto you when he was yet in Galilee saying the son of man must be delivered into the hands of sinful men to be crucified and the third day rise again don't you know the third day has already come and gone don't don't you know he's not supposed to be here hallelujah thank God he's not here and you're crying because he's not here and they remembered his words remember that we need as a Apostolic church and I believe we do we need to be word believing people we're not chasing after Miracles we're not chasing after signs and wonders we believe in signs and wonders we believe in Miracle let me keep that straight don't you for one minute think I'm minimizing Jesus is still that Miracle Worker I'm not minimizing that but we're not chasing Miracles and signs and wonders we're believing the word because in hima's life in the beginning was the word the word was just God and the Word was God and they remembered his words and return from the Sepulcher and told these things unto eleven and all the rest it was Mary Magdalene and Joanna and Mary the mother of James and other women that were with them which told these things unto the apostles and the apostles shouted and said that's wonderful we knew this was going to take place now look what the Apostle said and their words seemed to them as Idol tales and they believed him not we're talking about we're talking about the 11 uh Judas wasn't there but they're 11 there they had seen him walk on the water he's still in the water he's still the storm he said peace be still and they were afraid and frightened and you know what Jesus said in the preceding chapter he had been 5 000 with five Harley Loaves and two little fish and Jesus said why are you frightened and Afraid what's your said did you not consider the miracle of the Loaves and Fishes what do I have to do to make you believe dear God help us to be believers they had just seen him feed five thousand with five body loss and two little fish and now that they were scared to death and when they saw him come walking on the water they were afraid and the Bible said he would have passed them by but they cried out and when he began to speak to them it scared them and when they got in the boat he said oh you have little faith what I'm trying to say to us tonight we believe in the resurrection we celebrate it we remember it but I want you to remember this right now they had heard it again and again and again and yet they were not prepared for him let me go on and his word seemed to them as Idol tales and they believe them not then arose Peter and ran unto the Sepulcher and stooping them and behold beheld the lending clothes laid by themselves and departed wandering in himself at that which was come to pass how can I how can I emphasize this the linen thought that they had his face covered with LED over here His Garment was laying over here everything was neatly arranged it wasn't like somebody to come in and Drug the body off and everything but but Jesus wasn't there and Peter wondered in himself said just what has happened what's taking place Peter do you not remember a thing I said all of how many now I I I'm going to show you before I'm finished tonight because I've got a whole segment here to to tell you about it and um and behold two of them went the same day to the Village of of Emmaus which was from Jerusalem about three furlongs my three score for long is about seven miles and they talk together of all these things which had happened and it came to pass that while they communed together and reasoned Jesus himself Drew near and went with them but their eyes were holding that they should not know him huh you know children of God and I'm not saying you I'm saying we there's so many times Jesus is in the arrangement and we don't recognize it that's right how many times have you gone through something and felt and great despair and then when you get through it you look back and say God was in it all the time didn't I think of Romans look at that how did I think of far we know that all things work together for good to them that love God and who are the called according to his purpose God allows some things to happen to us that's for our good and we don't realize it are you still with me I heard I listened to my twin brother on he's got a post on Monday Wednesday and Friday and uh he told about Dad taking his belt off to us and and he said son this is going to hurt me more than it does you and and I'm doing this because I love you and Bob told that today on his program and he said Dad sure could love us hard and we didn't we didn't understand what he was saying but I want to tell you and I'm not for child abuse in any shape form or fashion but I want to tell you God chastens those that He Loves God chases those that He Loves he said to those that aren't chasing him give them a terrible name of of what we don't even like to use the word bastard but that's what the Bible uses but if he loves you he's going to chastise you and some things that happens to us we don't recognize it at the time and he said and then what manner of communication are these that ye have one to another as you walk to look like you're sad and they still didn't know it was him he's walking right along with him and one of them whose name was cleopas answered and said to him are thou only a stranger in Jerusalem and has thou not known the things which are come to pass here in these days you hadn't heard about this they was talking to the Risen Lord and didn't even know it excuse me and he said unto them what things now Jesus was pretending he was leading them on it may be hard for you and me to understand this sometimes I think the Lord leads us on we forget about Romans 8 28 we know that all things work together for good to love God or called according to his purpose but sometimes and and don't don't fall out with me just yet but we do our children that way when you're trying to teach your child something you'll sometimes lead them on to something and and pretend something and that and to to get a point across to them we are a child of God and the Lord is trying to teach us every day of our lives and sometimes we just cannot understand those not that uh and one of them whose name was Khalil faceted said to him are thou only a stranger in Jerusalem that's not known these things was come to pass it there in these days and he said unless what things and they said to them concerning Jesus of Nazareth which was a prophet Mighty indeed and word before God and all is that all you've learned about me that I'm a prophecy they didn't know I was talking to Jesus you recognize him as a prophet don't you know you're talking to a risen savior that's been dead three days and he said I lay down my life and I'll take it up again destroy this Temple and in three days I will raise it up again don't you know that you're talking to a man that's been dead three days and now that he's alive he's alive he's alive oh Hallelujah oh Hallelujah and how the chief priests and her rulers delivered him to another here they're telling Jesus what happened and instead of them what things and they said concerning Jesus of Nazareth which is a prophet Mighty indeed the word before God is that all you know about him he's a prophet don't you know he's more than a prophet he's God Almighty In the Flesh don't you know you're talking to the Lord of Glory how the chief priests and our rulers delivered him to be condemned to death and have crucified him but he trusted that he had been we trusted the that it had been he what should have redeemed Israel we thought sure he was one we was looking for and behold all this today is the third day since these things were done we got a reason to be sad don't you realize it we thought he was gonna be our savior Oh I thought God was moving when he did this and when he did that I thought when he laid there well what you don't know he is moving all the time God never stops moving he is moving yay and certain women also of our company made us astonished which were early at the Sepulcher and when they found out his body they came saying that they had also seen the vision of angels which said he was a lot they just saw they just saw a vision and though that in that Vision the angel said he was alive and certain of them which were with us went to the Sepulcher and found it even as a woman had said but him they saw now and that's so sad he wasn't there he wasn't there the very thing they should have been shouting their shoe heels off about he said he wasn't there just think I wonder what's happened he wasn't there it wasn't there and they saw him not then he said unto them old fools and slow of heart to believe all that the prophets have spoken all the things has been preached to you and you that you you haven't grasped ought not Christ who have suffered these things and to enter into his glory John did no miracle whatever thing he said about Jesus was true aren't you glad that his word is truth now notice what happens now and beginning at Moses now when you begin at Moses you're beginning in Genesis because the the first five books was written by Moses and beginning of Moses so if you want to find out what Moses thought about Jesus go back to Genesis and beginning at Moses and all the prophets he expounded unto them and all the scriptures these things well I'll tell you what Let's do let's let's see a little bit about what what Moses said in Genesis 3 14 15 Moses right here and the Lord God said unto the serpent because thou has done this thou are cursed above all cattle and above every beast of the field upon thy belly shalt thou go and thus shalt I eat all the days of thy life and I will put enmity between thee and the woman and between thy seed and her seed and it shall bruise the head and thou shall bruise his heel now let me look at this it shall bruise thy head and thou shalt bruise his heel now God is talking to the serpent now he said that that um it shall bruise thy head and he's going to you're going to bruise his heel now what they didn't realize and Ronnie Moses was talking about that man they called j-e-s-u-s that was going to bruise the head of the serpent and he was stumped the head of the serpenter on the cross when he hung there and the blood and water came forth out of his side Moses told him about it way back in Genesis oh Hallelujah [Applause] well what else did Moses say Genesis 49 10. the scepter shall not depart from Judah nor a law Giver from between his feet until shallow come and to him shall the Gathering of the people be what did Moses say about him Deuteronomy 18 15 and the Lord thy God will raise up unto thee a prophet from the midst of thee of thy brother and like unto me unto him ye shall hearken oh we're going all the way back to Genesis and all I think don't have the place and the time to put it off but scripture after scripture after scripture was talking about Jesus and instead of them these are the words which I speak unto you while I was yet with you that all things must be fulfilled which were written in the law of Moses and the prophets and in the Psalms concern me then open to heed their understanding of them I understand the scriptures and settle them thus it is written and blessed behoove Christ has suffered and to rise from the dead the third day and that repentance and remission of sin should be preached in his name among all nations beginning at Jerusalem and ye are witnesses of these things give him another hand clap hahaha oh you're you're just gonna have to excuse me because I I just can't help but get excited when I see all of this and see how wonderful it is and behold I send the promise of my father upon you but Terry in the city of Jerusalem until ye be endued with power from on high okay John 5 39 search the scriptures for in them you think you have eternal life and they are they which testify me and you will not come to me that you might have life if I receive not honor for men but I know you that you have not the love of God in you I am coming my father's name and you receive me not if another succumbing his own name him you shall receive how can you believe which receive honor one of another and seek not the honor that Cometh From God only do not think that I will accuse you to the father there is one that accuse you even Moses and whom you trust for had ye believed Moses you would have believed me dear Lord you see he's talking to folks that were so wrapped up and and their uh their love and admiration of Moses and Abraham and and they held him in such high esteem but what they didn't realize is Moses again and again and again through the scriptures was telling about that baby that was going to be born that was going to be king of the Jews that was going to be their deliverer that he was going to be crucified he was going to be fit upon he was going to be whipped he was going to be crucified and died and lay in the Tomb for three days let me tell you something no wonder Jesus said you don't even know who's talking well let's go back to our scripture and they do nine to the village where they went and let me finish that uh verse 27 and beginning at Moses and all the prophets he expounded unto them and all the scriptures the things concerning himself that they drew nine to a village whether they went and he made as though he would have gone further but they constrained him saying abide with us for it's the word evening and the day is far spent and he went in to tarry with them now they still yet walking alone did they not recognize his voice and I almost everybody I talked to on the phone say oh I remember I I recognize your voice you so I once a person said you sound like an old woman and whatever it is they have that recognize it I I know you did they not reckon Jesus said my sheep hear my voice stranger they'll not follow when Peter went knocking on the door after God had delivered him from the prison the the prison doors the gates opened of their own accord when he went to the prayer meeting he knocked her in the door damsa went to the dorm and and when she opened the door and saw was Peter she shut the door and went in and told the lady he said hey Peter's at the door they can't be in the can't be at the door he's in jail okay he's out there I said Come On Let's help us pray for his Deliverance when he's at the door no he's in jail oh hell no how slow we are to recognize what he's doing we just don't realize it sometimes and here Jesus was talking to him and they still yet didn't recognize him and they constrained him saying abide with us what's toward evening and the day is far spent and he went into tarry with them and came to pass as he said and meet with them he took bread and blessed it break it and gave to them and their eyes were open and the new him and as soon as they recognized him he vanished out of their sight you see this great God we know Jesus Christ God manifests in the flesh as a son of God as much man as if he wasn't God is what's God as if it wasn't man he at this point he could disappear when he wanted to when they recognized him he disappeared he vanished out of their sight and they said one to another did not our hearts burn within us while he talked with us by the way and while he opened to us the scriptures and they rose up the same hour and returned to they they said right then let's go back to Jerusalem where let's see if we can find somebody else that that knows what we know and they arose in the same hour and returned to Jerusalem and found the eleven gathered together and them that were with them saying the Lord is risen and hath appeared to Simon the thing that's astonishing about these scriptures now is the fact that they were astonished you know we have Easter Sunrise Services now they come out and gathered have a little service about Sun up or and before it's good day like they call it a sunrise service well they should have had a group they're waiting for the resurrection because early in the third day the angel came now the the women that came out of great respect to put ointment on his body as they start one of them says hey by the way how are we going to get that Stone from Over the mouth of his tomb that's a heavy Stone what are we going to do it's been sealed what are we going to do when we get we can't roll back the stone ladies can I tell you one more time he said again and again and again that he was going to die he was going to lay in the tomb three days and he was going to come forth and when they got there the stone had been rolled away the Angels had done that and they looked inside and there was two angels one sitting at the head one sitting at the foot and there they said and they the women were very frightened and one of them even thought it was a gardener the angel said the Lord is risen indeed and hath appeared to Simon and they told what things were done in the way how he was known of them in breaking a bread and as they thus spake Jesus himself stood in the midst of them and said unto them peace be unto you but they were terrified and are frightened and supposed that they had seen a spirit do you wonder why Jesus said oh fools and soul of a heart what do I have to do to make you believe and he said unto them why are you troubled and why do thoughts arise in your heart so behold my hands and my feet and it is I myself handle me and see for a spirit hath not Flesh and Bones as you see me have and when he had Thus Spoke when he showed them his hands and his feet and while they yep believe not for joy and I don't know hardly how to explain that one they believe not because of Joy I guess they were so happy they they couldn't consider the situation and wondered he said unto them have you hear any meat and they gave him a piece of broiled fish out of a honeycomb and it took it and did eat before them and instead of them these are the words which I speak unto you while I was yet with you that all things must be fulfilled which were written in the law of Moses and in the prophets and in the Psalms concerning me you've been your scrubs and your Pharisees and and your priests they've all been all they had was the Old Testament and that that taught it and taught it and taught it and yet they had not grasped the truth then open he their understanding that they might understand the scriptures and said unto them thus it is written and thus it behooved Christ to suffer and to rise from the dead the third day and that repentance and remission of sin should be preached in his name among all nations beginning at Jerusalem and ye are witnesses of these things the the greatness of the Resurrection now let me go back to some of the things that were not all four Gospels have the story of the Resurrection each one of these uh the four Gospels they they told the same story that happened to have just a little different slant maybe put a little more emphasis on one thing than than the other one did but it was all written by all four of them as and when they go back to the Old Testament Moses and the prophets and the Psalms all the rest they're all written about him and they had studied it over and over and over again they had to memorize much of it and yet it had not sunk in on them I were I read a while ago John 5 39 search of scripture for in them you think you have eternal life and they are they which testify me so this is what the scriptures do the scriptures testify him well let's go back and let's ask Isaiah what he thinks about it well here's what I says that about him For unto us a child is born unto us a son is given and the government should be upon his shoulder and his name shall become wonderful counselor the Mighty God the Everlasting father and the prince of peace now Isaiah didn't say uh unto us a child is born and he's going to be the second person in the godhead no I didn't say that he said unjust the child is born unless the son is given the government shall be upon his shoulder and his name Shall be Called wonderful counselor oh my God the Mighty God the Everlasting father now I I have a thing I copied from Adam Clark the commentary about Jesus being the Eternal Son of God he totally scoffs at that idea of Jesus being the Eternal Son of God I could not be well he was not the Eternal Son of God he was a temporary Son of God because when he fulfilled his ministry he went back with that the glory they had before the world was but Isaiah said he's the Everlasting father and then some reading Corinthians where the son delivers up the kingdoms of the father that the father may be all in all well let's see what Isaiah said about it of the increase of his government and peace there shall be no end upon the throne of David and upon the kingdom to order and to establish it with judgment and with Justice from henceforth ever and ever the Zeal of the Lord a host will perform it Zechariah what do you say about it and the Lord Zechariah 14 and 9 and the Lord shall be king over now we're talking about the Old Testament now and the Lord shall be king over all the Earth and that day shall there be one Lord and his name one and you don't have two or three days is one Lord and his name one but who is the lord well what is his name Zechariah didn't tell us well Paul wanted to know in Acts 9 4 and 5 and he fell to the Earth and Heard a Voice sing unto him Saul saw why persecute us thou me and he said who art thou Lord he asked a simple question who art thou Lord and the Lord said I am Jesus whom thou persecute us it is hard for thee to kick against the Pricks who are you Lord I am Jesus whom thou persecuted preacher asked the question I thought it was pretty interesting he asked another fellow you know in the 14th chapter John said uh show us the father and his Apostles he surprised with us and Jesus said if I've been so long time with you when you've seen me you've seen the father so how do you say show us the father and this preacher asked the question said if he was in heaven right now and you're talking to Jesus and you ask him to show you the would he tell you the same thing would he say you're looking for the father you got him here he is when you've seen me here because Isaiah said he was the Everlasting father didn't mean to just a while but he's the Everlasting father well let's go on and he fell to the Earth and heard the voice singing him Saul saw what persecuted thou me and he said who art the Lord and the Lord said I'm Jesus whom thou persecute us it's hard for thee to kick against the prayer Matthew 12 and 40. and as Jonah was three days and three nights in the whale's belly so shall the son of man be three days and three nights and how are they had heard that Jesus was the one told them that did they not put it together that he was talking about he was going to be crucified that he was going to be put in the in the Earth as a dead man they didn't grasp it well Lord help I don't want to criticize them because I'm certainly no exception to their faith but they didn't realize it Matthew 16 21 from that time forth began Jesus to show unto his disciples how about he must go to Jerusalem and suffer many things of the elders and chief priests and scribes and be killed and the raise again the third day huh what did you say you didn't understand that did you know well he said you didn't hear that did you you you're not listening did you this is kind of what Jesus said Jesus Jesus said don't argue listen do you know what I'm what I'm trying to to tell you from that time forth he began Jesus to show his disciples how that he must go to Jerusalem and suffer many things of the elders and chief priests and the scribes and be killed and be raised a third day huh what do you mean do you mean you're going to be killed and be buried yeah that's what he said then Peter now listen to this one listen then Peter took him and began to rebuke him saying be it far from the Lord this is not to be unto thee you couldn't accept it now it's pretty Brazen when you rebuke the Lord when you rebuke Jesus Peter rebuked Jesus and said be it far from you that's not going to happen but Jesus turned and said to Peter get thee behind me Satan thou art on a fence unto me for thou savior is not the things that be of God but those that'd be of men Matthew 17 23 and while they Abode in Galilee Jesus said unto them the son of man shall be betrayed in the hands of men and they shall kill him and the third day he shall he shall be raised again and they were exceedingly sorry my my do you know what he's doing he's purchasing salvation for the whole world that death we're not happy that he's going to suffer we're going to happen but thank God that he's got a Plan of Salvation it goes all the way back to Genesis when he said that that his heel is going to bruise Satan's head and that's what he did on the crossing he hit that old Devil's Head and the blood and water came forth oh it's something to shout about and something to shout about [Applause] Hallelujah I I see many many folks when they're I see a lot of times Young Folks children in adolescent teenagers who want to they'll get right with God and I've seen parents get so upset because their child they would rather their little girl be a a a cheerleader or somebody not then they would for a her to get the Holy Ghost uh the rubber of the son to be a gambler than to be a preacher let me tell you something we better get our values straight and know what's important you see they were exceeding sorry John or Matthews 2018 and 19 and behold we go up to Jerusalem and the son of man shall be betrayed into the chief priest and into the scribes and they shall condemn him to death and shall deliver him to the Gentiles to Mock and discourage and to crucify him and the third day he shall rise again and y'all are so surprised you're shocked you're how many times did he tell them this was going to happen Matthew 27 62 and 60 to 66. now the next day that followed the day of the preparation the chief priests and Pharisees came together under pilate saying sirs we remember that that deceiver said while he was yet alive after three days I will rise again command therefore that the Sepulcher be made sure until the third day Lester disciples come by night and steal him away and say unto the people he's risen from the dead so the last Heir shall be worse than the first pilate said unto them ye have a watch go your way make it as sure as you can I'm like father had a little doubt that those aren't going to be able to keep it secure so they went and made the Sepulcher sure sealing the stone and setting a watch it kind of reminds me of a story a true story I have in my Electronics scrapbook there was a they they built a a liquor store not too far from a church and the church I started praying that's the whole church to pray that the Lord do something about that that liquor store and lo and behold the liquor store burned down this really happened and the liquor store owner sued the church because they said the church prayed against them and and and then the the church pleaded now guilty of the charges and the judge said I find this a very difficult case he said I find here we've got a a liquor store that believed that God answers prayer and a church that believes that he didn't well here here we go here we go he was telling them what was going to take place and the third day arise again the next day that followed the day of the preparation of the chief priests and Pharisees came to pilate said we heard what that deceiver said I said give us a watch that his disciples may come and now can't you imagine the disciples come and stand well pilate said you have a watch I'm going to give you all the soldiers you need and you have a watch and make it as sure as you can father said you have a watch go your way make it as sure as you can so they went and made the Sepulcher sure sealing the stone and setting a watch but from the angel of God came down and rolled the stone away the Bible said those soldiers were as dead men they couldn't raise a hand they couldn't do a thing to prevent it and and when the storm was rolled away and Jesus now just think the only ones who were actual witness of the Resurrection were these unbelieving soldiers and the saints of God the disciples they were home sleeping preparing spices whatever I mean bombed the dead body but these soldiers rushed back to the chief priests and told them what happened and the Bible said that the priest gave them large money large money and told them to say you tell everybody that you fell asleep and his disciples came and stole away it's about first of all had they gone to sleep it would have been the death penalty but the Bible said that saying is believed to this day because they didn't want to believe the ones that should have been there were not there and though those who were there were willing to take money and tell a lie about the resurrection we just stand your feet with us Matthew 28 5 the angel answered seven of the women fear not for I know that you seek Jesus whom was crucified he's not here is risen and he said come see the place where the Lord laid he is not here for his risen as he said come see the place think about that where he laid Mark 8 31 and he began to teach them that the son of man must suffer many things and be rejected of the elders and the chief priests and the scribes and be killed and after three days Rise Again Mark 9 9 and they came down from the mountain he charged them that they should tell no man what things they had seen till the son of man were risen from the dead and they kept the sayings within themselves questioning one with another what the Risen or what rising from the dead should mean now that it was plain but they could not what did it mean by that he meant exactly what he said and what do you mean by that Mark 9 31 4 he told his disciples saying the son of man is delivered in the hands of men and they shall kill him and after that he is killed he shall rise the third day 10 33 behold we go to the room the son of man shall be delivered to the chief priest to the scribes and they shall condemn him to death and shall deliver him to the Gentiles and they shall moalk him and shall Scourge him and shall spit upon him and shall kill him and the third day he shall rise Luke 9 22 the son of man must suffer many things be rejected of the elders Chief priests and scribes and be slain and be raised the third day Luke 18 31 then he took unto them the twelve and said of them behold we go up to to Jerusalem and all things is written by the prophets concerning the son man shall be accomplished for he shall be delivered unto the Gentiles and shall be mocked and spitefully entreated and spit upon and they shall Scourge him and put him to death and the third day he shall rise again Luke 24 44 46 these are the words which he spake unto you while I was yet with you that all things must be fulfilled which were written in the law of Moses and the prophecy and the Psalms concerning him then opened he their understanding it they might understand the scriptures instead of them the scissoring blessing to whom Christ to suffer to rise from the dead to Third Day I'm going to close with this because I there's a little point I want to make as we close Luke 9 43 through 46 now I know I've read a lot of scriptures tonight but repeatedly this was told them and yet they were so shocked and I'm encouraging you and me we us um believe him John did no miracle but everything he said about Jesus it's true we've heard some of the greatest preaching from these pastors Pastor Anthony Pastor Nate Whaley Pastor Mark McCool we've heard they don't have to perform a miracle for me to believe because everything they say about Jesus is true how do you get it do do you get it do you understand what I'm saying do you get it ever he did no Miracle but everything he said about Jesus true now listen to this and we'll be closing and they were all amazed at the mighty power of God but while they wondered everyone out of all things was Jesus did he said unto his disciples let these sayings sink deep into your ears are you listening can you hear me you're still here said Lord and it sink deep into your ears for the son of man shall be delivered into the hands of men evidently they didn't let it sink deep enough into their ears but they understood not this saying and it was hid from them and they perceived it not and they feared to ask him of that saying now I believe I found a clue as to why they didn't understand and didn't remember then there arose a reasoning among them which of them should be greatest if you reckon that may be part of our problem is we're worried about how great we are that to realize how great he is oh he's great and God is great and greatly to be praised father we thank you tonight for the Blessed word of God we thank you for the resurrection and Lord help us to believe what you say oh God you don't have to do another thing miraculously for me to believe in them you've already done what you said you would do and I thank you but I still believe that you do can and will perform Miracles I pray you let the word of the Lord sink deep into our ears tonight as we go from this place let us glorify you and let us have a greater determination to dig into the book and see what you have to say and then believe it and not be astonished because you do it you always keep your word dismissals from this place but not from your presence in Jesus name amen don't forget the announcements check hands be friendly do whatever yours protocol allowed bump elbows
