we greet you tonight in that wonderful name of the Lord Jesus Christ what a joy it is to be back in the house of the Lord we enjoy such great services had a great service this weekend and had a visiting minister with us did a great job we'll hear some of the greatest preaching and music that you'll hear anywhere and we thank God for it um I'm kind of stressing a little bit right now Wednesday night bible class we've changed our format a lot and a lot of folks are in other classes and that's fine but uh if you're not designated in the other class I'm I'm preaching the empty seats now because you folks that are here tonight don't need it it's those that go out that don't that needs to be in the Bible class but uh anyway I'll I'll have to I'll make this announcement for Sunday morning and Sunday night because I see a lot of folks go out that door I know don't fit in these other their other classes and I'd like you to be in the Bible class because I feel very strongly about Bible teaching that we need the Bible to study we need Bible teaching and I love Evangelistic preaching done it many many years years I love all age groups I I love to hear a youth camp I love to hear the uh the the the brother Robertson ministers to our children but there comes a time we need to sit down and listen to the word of God being taught when there's no shouting and no music and no Fanfare and this is what I'm doing right now is still part of the teaching and these David said Thy word have I hid in my heart that I might not sin against God what you hear taught in the the word of God from the the pulpit and what you study at home in your Bible is something you can hide in your heart that'll keep you from sinning against God I had one brother to meet me out on the sidewalk years ago and he just stopped me and he said pastor I want to tell you something you probably saved me from going to prison I said what in the world did I do well he said some things that you taught if I hadn't heard that I'd have probably killed a man and he said it came back to me what I heard you teach and it kept me from doing something terrible and there's not a conversation I have with anybody on any subject that something don't come right back to me the word of God Thy word have I hid in my heart that I might not sin against God David said that he desired the word more than his natural food and the hearing the word of God is so urgent and so important um I've been this is 75 years every time Pastor Mark McCool gets up here and preaches he preaches something I never thought of before my because when you're preaching under the anointing you you preaching that you don't really realize you're preaching I've listened to tapes of myself preaching and um I want to listen I I didn't realize I was going to I studied I was prepared to teach but the Holy Ghost when you study Paul says study to show thyself approved unto God a Workman under God that needeth not to be ashamed rightly dividing the word of Truth and then Pastor Whitley he'll get up here and and my my what a message he preached last Sunday night uh or the Sunday night before about the bitterness that was so great Pastor Anthony I've got to say that he also amazes me when he preaches and I thank God for it so I'm giving a plug for Bible study we need to I have a Bible study and I never never never uh minimize the importance of the study of the word of God father we thank you tonight for the privilege of of preaching and teaching the word of God I pray you'll bless your people with a desire and a love for the word of God as we study because it will make us to be more like you I pray oh God that you will anoint the lips of clay with the spirit of God anoint the ears of the saints of God in the hearts of each one of us that we may hear Proclaim and understand and grow thereby in Jesus name we pray amen we have a great lesson tonight we're starting a brand new series our summer series and we're moving to the New Testament we've even been teaching from the Old Testament for quite a while and we have some I've been reading ahead on these lessons and we have some great exciting studies that if you don't have a Sunday school book try to get you one and let's study the word of God together and tonight is a is a fantastic a lesson the title of the lesson is authority to forgive authority to forgive well I might subtitle that the sweetest words ever spoken brother Carol Magruder my first cousin wrote a song that says there was a woman brought to Jesus she was taken in her sins cast down at his feet that day she was guilty and condemned the law said she must pay the price for mistakes that she has made but her shame became rejoicing when she heard the Savior saying I forgive you I forgive you are free to go your way and sin no more neither do I condemn you for the life that you have lived the sweetest words ever spoken I forgive I too came to Jesus like that woman so long ago waited by the guilt of Sin Sin my burdens had laid me low but then I met the master I confessed I had great need what the Lord has done for her praise God he did it for me and I want you to know in spite of the poor singing the truth is in the words of the song I Forgive Thee the sweetest words ever spoken now then having said this and I don't mean to start out by admonishing anybody but I I do want to keep it for us the importance and the urgency of studying the word of God when do I start preparing for to teach Bible it's probably after church tonight when I get home and tomorrow morning and every day and then I most of the time I don't send my notes to brother Derek until about four or five o'clock of the day I'm going to be preaching because I'm studying right up to that time because that word is just so so Lively and so living and I'm not only teaching for your good I'm teaching for my good because when I've got a finger pointed at you I got uh three fingers putting bad myself and I need that word so much and I want to say something else to it the self-teaching but um I want to praise the Lord for brother Sherwin Harvey now the elevator situation is coming along well uh the due to the design and the architectural planning there's a lot of of variations that's had to be made and to follow all the codes and everything and brother Sherman Harvey has been our man in charge of this and he's done a fantastic job as a matter of fact he's been over here many many times many times when no one else knows he's in here working but he has done some revamping and some things had to be uh uh changed around and but they're getting there and we thank the Lord for it and it's on its way now I've got to give brother uh Sherwin Hurley a great big bouquet of thank you give him a great big hand all right let's get into our lesson now authority to forgive and I'm going to omit the focus verse because we'll get to it a little bit later I'm going to start out with our lesson text in Mark chapter 2. now Mark is the John Mark that that left Paul and uh when they were on a missionary trip and later on Paul and Barnabas had a dispute and over taken John Mark with them but in Paul's last day is his last letter in second Timothy the fourth chapter he spoke of John Mark has been profitable to him for the ministry so there was a mending of the situation and had it not been for that we wouldn't have had the Book of Mark as a and so I'm going to read the first verse and then we're going to go back to uh Mark the first chapter and do a little background verse 1 says and again he entered into Capernaum after certain days and it was noised that he was in the house I want you to focus your attention on that phrase and that statement again he entered into Capernaum so it means that he had been there before and had come back to Capernaum and and and Luke's writing he talks about Jesus going to uh the synagogue and when he got through teaching they first thought he spoke says gracious words but when he quoted from Isaiah and said this scripture is fulfilled in your ears and they detected he was professing to be God in flesh they uh they led him to the brow of the hill where on the city was set and the Bible said he went his way and went down to Capernaum and when he got now remember they was ready to throw him off the cliff when when he went to the Nazareth the hometown where he'd been brought up but he escaped and went down to Capernaum and a mark Bears this out also in his writing uh they they everybody they had all the sick there and the Bible said that he healed every one of them but I'm going to challenge that just a little bit by the word of God I think it meant everyone that heard about it everywhere that could get there got there but I'm going to tell you about the one that didn't get there going back to Mark the first chapter first of all the mission and preaching and the success of John the Baptist from Mark chapter 1 verse 1 through 5. I said the beginning of the Gospel of Jesus Christ the son of God as it is written in the prophets behold I send my messenger before thy face which shall prepare the way before Thee the voice of one crying in the wilderness preparing the word of the Lord to make his path straight John did baptize in the wilderness and preached the baptism of repentance for the remission of sins and there went out unto him all the land of Judea they have Jerusalem and they were all baptized of him in the river of Jordan confessing their sins and then Mark 1 and 6 speaks of his lifestyle he was clothed in Camel's hair and I had a girdle of skin about his loins and he ate locusts and wild honey and then in uh in the verse 7 through 11 it tells about John's proclaiming Christ and then John baptizing him in the river of Jordan and then I want you to notice in verse 12 of Mark 1 it said and immediately now now notice this after he was baptized the Bible said and immediately the spirit driveth him into the wilderness now let that sink in just a little bit every one of us have our Wilderness experiences and a lot of times we wonder why well remember when Satan came before God for the sons of God came to present themselves before the Lord and Satan came also and God said if you consider my servant job now God called the attention of the devil to job was a righteous man a man that feared God and his shield even was a perfect man the Bible said and God just kind of dangled him before the face of the devil and almost sick the devil on him because he knew that job could stand the test and it was quite a compliment to job that God thought enough of him to to let him represent God and all that God stood for Sometimes some of the things that you and I are going through that we don't realize that it's a compliment from God because he knows we can stand it and that that trial now the Bible said and the spirit driveth him he didn't go centering off into the Wilderness and happened to run into the devil the Bible said the spirit driveth him there were times I I lay on my face on a a vinyl floor similar to this black and pink and I wonder why God drove me to Knoxville Tennessee I prayed things wasn't going like I wanted to go I wasn't having the success I thought I should have and I prayed for God to give me some reassurance God you spoke to me in Little Rock Arkansas and told me to come to Knoxville and start a church at a Christian School and here I am in a basement with a dirt floor and a leaky roof and a handful of folks and now how in the world can I feel like I'm in the will of God and I cried up I I literally I don't mean a tubular or a wash but a puddle of tears and God give me some kind of assurance God let me know to do do something right now to let me know give me a dream give me a vision just have somebody to call me do it and and I couldn't hear from God and I I wept I wept sister because I had to walk around me in that house trailer we were living in but you see my scripture said the spirit drive with him into the Wilderness don't be discouraged when you feel like you've been driven into the wilderness don't be discouraged everybody goes to a Wilderness experience and I'm not one that that you heard me preach I mean at the time I'm not one that preaches down and out and old woe is me and and poor little old men I'm mistreated no I'm not saying that at all I'm saying that sometimes God may be complimenting you and you've heard me tell about you maybe some of you haven't uh brother brother Gino when he was on our basketball coach and teaching he kept asking me wanting to get weight lifted equipment upstairs at the gymnasium and finally we did we we got a whole we still have it a bunch of our stuff for lifting weights and when it all come in he wanted to show it to me and my goodness I never saw something and and he said here's what this is weightlifting when and he said you want to try it out yeah I want to try it out if I lay down on that bench and I reached up and I got heat lifted the bar and my hands in now he said the weight lifters when they left all they can wait lived it actually tears the the the the the the flesh uh the muscles and that's why you're sore the next day but if you lift all you can possibly lift and it'll heal up until the next time you'll be able to lift a little bit more and and he said if you noticeable weight lifters if they lift all they can lift sometimes they'll they'll yell out and that just seems to give you ah it just gives you that's maybe that's why we yell sometime when we're shout and we we just we scream out well I said let me try that I laid down on that bench and and I got over to that bar and I left today let's try 10 10 left you know one tune three you know every time I got a head area you know and the the tenth time I yelled yeah let it back down brother genome said now let's put some weights on that bar so help me God that happened just that way that I think that bar weighed like 90 pounds but I didn't have a weight on it and and but but that taught me something right there sometimes God allows things to happen to us that's going to make you stronger you may get sore you may get uncomfortable it may not be easy to miss a meal it may not be easy to set through a Bible study a minute but just stick with it and God's going to make you stronger than you've ever the spirit draweth him in the wilderness but now then let's not stop there let's read the next verse and he was there in the wilderness 40 days tempted of the Satan of Satan and was with the wild beast you ever feel that way walking with God I have and the next line don't forget this and the angels ministered unto him if Jesus needed angels to minister to him you and I need angels to minister to us and I want to tell you something there will be times that you'll go through things and if you'll hold on to God the angels of God will minister to you I was going somewhere for a Revival years ago and I'm living in Johnson City and I don't know why sister who wasn't with me and if it might have been just proportionate I don't remember that but I was by myself and and I where I was going I had to leave so early it was it was before Daybreak it was early in the morning and I was driving along this old uh Highway of 25 or whatever the Hell highway 11w and and I was driving along and I was praying and and I just kind of got lost in the spirit just praying to God and there was such a presence of God in that car that I honestly turned around and looked in the back seat to see if I could if there was somebody sitting back there I felt God so strongly I believe there was an angel well I don't believe it I know there was an angel of God in that car with me and I want to tell you something and you something if you'll hold on to God you may be going through all kinds of trials and tribulations well if you hold on to God the Angels minister to Jesus and the angels will minister to you when you've been driven by the spirit Into the Wilderness Give the Lord a hand clap well I'm going to Hopscotch through chapter one verse 14 after that John was put in prison Jesus came together they preaching the gospel of the Kingdom John was put in prison Jesus left town and say now that was my words of putting it in and paraphrasing it or putting him in maku's words same the time has fulfilled the kingdom of gods that hand repent you and believe the gospel and then in verses 16 17 19-20 Jesus called Andrew Simon James and John to follow him they left their fishing nets and started following the Lord and then remember when I told you to remember a while ago again he came to Capernaum now in verse 21 of chapter 1. and they went into Capernaum and straightway on the Sabbath day he entered into the synagogue and taught and they were astonished at his Doctrine for he taught them as one that had Authority and not as the scribes now this was the first time it says and he went the second time but now we're talking about the first time what happened the first time he healed the sick and and while he was teaching there was a man there that cried out with a terrible voice probably guttery and ugly and he yelled out loud and it wasn't a human being it was the voice of a demon that said Jesus We Know Who You Are and I'm sure put cold chills on everybody and Jesus in a calm voice spoke quietly softly and rebuked that devil and told the devil to come out of him and the Devils came out of him verse 32 and even when the sun did set they brought on him all that were diseased and then that were possessed with devils now notice this says they brought unto him all that were diseased and them that were possessed with devils now this is a matter of speaking because there was somebody that didn't make it the first time he went to capernium somebody didn't make it let me read it on all the city was gathered together at the door and he healed many that were sick of diver disease and cast out many devils and suffered not the Devils to speak because they knew him and then the Bible says in Mark 1 35 and in the morning rising up with great wall before day he went out and departed into a solitary place there and prayed this tells me something right there sometimes you and I need to find a getaway place you start to pray in that phone will ring you are there'll be some uh a Salesman or somebody a knock on the door or you'll call something half he went to the he went to a desert place and there he prayed and Simon they were with him followed after him and when they had found him they said to him all men seek for thee Jesus preaches in different towns and synagogues in verses 38 and 39. and then I want you to notice he cleansed the leper and instructs him to tell no one now he's I'm gonna the leopard said if thou will I'm a leper a leper was to cry out unclean unclean and you couldn't dwell with the clean Society but this leper said I'm a leopard and if thou Wilt you can make me clean and there came a leper beseeching him kneeling down to him saying to him if thy will tharkus made me clean and Jesus moved with compassion put forth his hand and touched him and said unto him I will be thou clean and as soon as he had spoken immediately the leprosy departed from him and he was cleansed and he straightly charged him and forth with sent him away and said unto him see thou say nothing to any man but go thy way show thyself to the priest and offer for thy cleansing the things which Moses commanded for a testimony unto them and what did the leper do of the former leper but he went out and began to publish it much and to blaze abroad the matter in so much that Jesus could no more openly enter the city but was without in the desert place and they came to him from every quarter he told that leper don't tell anybody go to the priest because he knew what would happen because he had healed so many cast out so many devils that everywhere he went the crowd thronged him and Jesus was wanting to preach to people and he told him don't you tell anybody but the leper went out and published it and from then on the Jesus one time he got in the boat and lost out a little ways so he could get to hear to speak to all the people he goes to the mountain the Beatitudes the crowd plunged him so this is where we are now now then after this had happened it's worth scripture lesson comes in tonight and again he entered into Capernaum now that first chapter it says the whole city came out and everybody that came out got healed those that were oppressed depressed of the devil he set them free but there was somebody in that first Revival that didn't get there and let me tell you who it was and straight away many were gathered together in so much that there was no room to receive him no not so much as about the door and he preached the word unto them but there was somebody lived up the road I heard about all the folks that got healed when Jesus was in Capernaum oh if I could just if I could have gotten to him I could have run healed but I couldn't get out of bed I'm a positive victim I'm paralyzed I can't get out of my cup oh if I could just if I could have just gotten there well you may not have made it the first time but he's coming back to Capernaum again he's coming back he the second time he he'll be back you'll be the only God at the first time you may not have got the Holy Ghost the first time you may not have got to heal the first time the elders laid hands on it he's coming back to Capernaum don't give up don't give the Lord a handicraft well after that happened no doubt now I'm using my imagination now he had some friends that lives around him that had to help wait on him help take care of them and no doubt during this Jesus was out here preaching to other Citizen and going from town to town and and they was hearing by way of the the Grapevine about the big crowds and the folks are getting healed and all that he has some neighbors that live close by four four different men boys if I if I could have only gotten out of this bed and got to where Jesus was I believe I could have got healed too and one day a neighborhood came in got good news Jesus is back in town Jesus has come back I know but I'm bound to this bed that's all right I'll get John James Taylor and Tom to come and we're going to carry you to Jesus and we're going to see that you get to see him this time and they got all four of these neighbors they got a hold of each corner of the the cot whatever apparatus he was laying on and they they kept carrying him up the road but when they got to the place the house where Jesus was teaching the people were standing in the doorway the peoples filled the yard the house was totally filled the yard was full of people couldn't get close to Jesus oh no oh no we're defeated again I didn't get to see him the first time he came and now then there's too many men here now and too many women that got the the the the the crowd is so filled the place and one of the Devil's Heaven say yeah we're going to get you there this time he said we're going to go around the back side of the house and we're going to take you up on top of the back then they had flat roofs it was made with some Timbers and and uh Limbs and trees and stuff and and it went evidently was water resistant and they got around that and they they hosted him up and lifted him up on top of that roof and when they got on top of that roof they began to pull back the brush they're making a pull back the shingles they begin to pull back in until they got a hole in that in that roof of that house now folks may think that we do things kind of strange around here now I don't know what we do if tiles started falling and somebody was up well of course we got to put in rooms here but if it's such a cry and I don't know if they had ropes or tires or some way but they had a way of of letting the man down bed and all Jesus looks up and he didn't rebuke them didn't say a thing this is the second time to Capernaum and they let that man right down in front of Jesus what do you think the folks thought I wonder what the man thought that owned that house uh you Reckoning you know what I think I think that man was so thrilled and and throng with with the excitement of having such a a guest to his house watching people get healed watching the blind eyes open watching the deaf mute speaking here watching the devil's cast I think I think if I do whatever you want to do there's there's something too important happening around here for me to interfere I can't interfere with the movement of the spirit of God let it happen and the man got down before Jesus well let's do a little reading now and they come to him bringing one sick of the palsy which was born of four and when they cannot come nigh unto him for the Press they uncovered the roof where he was and when they had broken it up and let it down the bed were in the sick of the paws delay when Jesus saw their faith he said unto the sick of the palsy son thy sins be forgiven thee well now wait he didn't come to get converted he'd come to get healed Jesus's son your sins be forgiven you I Pastor tells me to quit telling folks what I told you they said this is go ahead and tell it because that spoke something hadn't heard it before tell it tell it and I I ought to listen to him and do it I guess but fellow came I guess was probably next door and had a church hadn't started yet his wife needed a prescription cost 14.75 and uh Pastor came to me and he said dad I I didn't I gave him 15 dollars said he went on his way and a few days later it came out in the paper there was some fella making this whole into town and going to all the churches and was giving all of them the same story that his wife needed a prescription cost 14.75 that seemed to be a unit said fifteen dollars it might sound fakish if you said ten dollars and but by 14 and and he had been to several churches and everybody would give him fifteen dollars because he's asking for 14.75 but you know what I said I said just think about it it's about 50 to 60 feet from this altar to the door and he stood back there and felt like he'd really pulled a scam and done something because he hadn't gypped that preacher out of 15 dollars and just think about it he accepted fifteen dollars and went on his way and there were streets of gold and walls of Jasper Gates of pearl waiting for him just 50 feet had to come on down to the altar he could have heard Jesus say what that man heard him say I forgive you the sweetest words ever spoken I forgive I forgive and you settled for 15 dollars hello Hallelujah Hallelujah and he said Son by sins be forgiven thee now that's where he crossed the ecclesiastical line but there were certain of the scribes sitting there reasoning in their hearts why does this man thus speak blasphemies who can forgive sin but God only and they were right they were right who can forgive sin but God only nobody can deny that and immediately when Jesus perceived in his spirit that they so reason within themselves he said unto them why reason ye these things in your heart and then he said I want to ask you a question gentlemen which is it easier to say to the sick of the policy of thy sins be forgiven thee are to say arise take up thy bed and walk would you answer me now these were church leaders of their Jewish faith scribes uh well educated in the law but you see they saw the success of Jesus his followings his followings and his followers were many and they knew they were losing their own influence at one time they they had a meeting and they said this man performs many miracles and said what do we do now that's in the Bible I'm paraphrasing it but they talked among themselves they said this man is performing miracles and said what are we doing we ain't getting nothing done we can't do that what are you doing he's he's healing not only so Jesus said which is it easier to say thy sins be forgiven thee or take up your bed and walk now if they said well it's easier to say take up your bed little kids well you give it a shot then you you raised somebody if it's easy to do you go ahead and do it laughs which is an easier it's impossible for man to do either one but if you say thy sins be forgiven there only God can forgive sin but what they didn't know they were speaking like God in flesh he could say thy sins be forgiven and take up the bed and walk I am and immediately but they but they may know that the son of man hath power on Earth to forgive sins he said to the sick of the palsy I say unto thee arise take up thy bed and walk go thy way into thine house forgive my imagination but I see these five fellas before they brought him and him they wrapped up the the cut I don't had wooden legs or how they got the Army car he they didn't sleep because he said go home and on the way home I wonder what that I wonder what they talked about don't you know they were tickled to death what's the neighbors going to think of when we bring you back home and you're not on like we took you on a cut and now you bringing the cut you carrying it on your shoulders they're going to ask you what happened and you're going to say that my Jesus not only did he heal me but he forgave me my sins of a new man [Music] oh Hallelujah brother Derek can you get Matthew chapter five 29 because we're going to read a few verses of Matthew 5. 29. Matthew chapter 5. starting at verse 29. if I run off in they pluck it out and cast it from thee for it is profitable for thee that one of my members should perish and not that the whole body should be cast into hell verse 30. and at thy right hand defend they cut it off and cast it from thee for it is profitable for thee that one of my members should perish and not thy whole body should be cast into hell now um what he's saying is this physical body is not nearly as important as your Eternal Soul it's much better it's you could say about you you be thou heal that's one thing but Jesus says that the healing of the soul is much more important than the healing of the body oh yes I I would love very much to just lay my hands and and sister don't you leave that to walk her home from now on over you you did and just everybody here just go home and in perfect health but if your soul is not right what good is it to live through this life with a well-body and then you die and go to hell what a terrible thing it is Jesus gave a parable about a rich farmer one year his his land went uh brought forth plentifully he did his burden wasn't big enough to even hold the goods and he looked at all that he had and and he said what am I going to do I don't have a barn begins hold on he said I know what I'll do I'll tear down that old barn and I'm going to build bigger bars and I'm going to fill that bigger barn and then I'm going to sit back I'm going to eat and I'm going to drink and I'm going to be Mary Mary and I'm going to say soul take thy knees thou my sled episode for many years and God said thou full you're foolish to thank you just because you got a lot of money and you think no you're going to die and he said who's going to get all that stuff that you've got you better you better look Beyond this life you better look there's something more important oh I feel very blessed and fortunate that I'm 86 going on 87. and uh I can walk up and down the steps without holding the rail I don't do it very much but I I can't but uh I've had a lot of prayer and also Ashland nation's dog they gave him a pill for arthritis and he just said he couldn't get up and down the steps they gave him that and said now he can he showed off he can run up and down those steps well the doctor prescribed me some uh pill for arthritis I said take one every other day or I think I thought anything that's strong and I ain't going to take that I don't tell what it'll differ but since it worked on all Hoosier I'm going to give it a try now I didn't take hoosier's medicine I took what the doctor prescribed for me I please the Young Folks I said it was kind of his medicine I said did you take his button no I really didn't I but I had I had that sitting there you know for a long time and and I didn't take it because it said to take a pill every other day and it wasn't as big as a as a baby aspirin well Jesus said they better hold need not a physician but they that are sick he said a merry heart doeth good like a medicine Adam got me into this body and it's going to get old sister McCool said I told her a while back and said we're getting old she said getting old nothing we all well I started out sell that say that I'm thankful that I'm in as good of Health as I am uh but the time is going to come when this whole body is going to wear out her brother Mack reminded me of that many times when I be attended to him the three and a half years we had it he'd say Bill I don't know why the Lord's leaving me here but he said this whole body is like an old car it wears out and he said this is well bodies about wore out so I don't know why the Lord don't take me but he's left me for a reason and he accepted that well now what I'm talking about now forgiveness is more important than healing but I'll tell you something about that forgiveness uh I don't know let's see if I got the script or we have it uh just give me just a minute uh Matthew chapter 6. you might want to put this on the screen brother verse 9. Matthew chapter 6 verse 9. after this manner therefore pray ye Our Father which ought in heaven Hallowed be thy name thy kingdom come thy will be done on Earth as it is in heaven give us this day my my brother-in-law when I testified and he spoke the truth but he didn't mean to he gave his testimony and he said Saints pray for me he said the Lord knows I want to have my way he met his Lord knows I want him to have anybody he spoke more truth than he meant to because that's really the prayer I guess we all should pray if we're going to be truthful he said give us this damn daily bread and forgive us our debts as we forgive our debtors lead us not into temptation but Deliver Us from Evil for thine is the kingdom of the power and the glory forever amen now look at verse 14. for if ye forgive men their trespasses now listen to this this is Bible as much as Acts 2 38. that's right are you hearing me for if he forgive men their trespasses your heavenly father will also forgive you but if you forgive not men their trespasses neither will your father forgive your trespasses do you believe that you believe Acts 2 30 do you believe John 3 16 this book says that if you won't forgive folks that they didn't say whether they ask you or not it said if you won't forgive books don't trespasses God will not and I've heard folks have the nerve to say or maybe they got a little enough knowledge of the word of God so and so did so uh I'll never I'll not forgive them I'll not forgive I don't and sometimes we'll say I'll forgive but I won't forget and what they're really saying is I I've still got it in my heart I'll I'll say it with my lips but in my heart I really haven't listen you can go around with the Grudge in your heart somebody's done something to hurt your feelings you remember what I quoted the other day great peace of they which love thy law and nothing shall offend them now we're not careful this is one this is one of the biggest dreads of a pastor of overlooking somebody mistreating somebody leaving somebody out and you don't mean to do that and and the Bible said brother offended as harder one than a barred city a city with bars around it it's harder to win than break somebody out of jail that's locked up behind bars but if you and I really know God it's a Bible study tonight now I'm not pulling at you or you're whoever if you don't if you've got something against anybody the Bible said you go to the altar to pray you take your gift to God and you think of somebody that you've got something against or something they got said leave your gift and go and make that thing right if you've got something against somebody it's a husband or wife mother-in-law daughter-in-law father father-in-law son family I've seen families split up over what normally would be a minor thing but they allow something to creep into their heart and eats away like a like a cancer that keeps you awake at night you you've got something against somebody mentioned something and you lose your appetite it's caused people to wreck their cars terrible things happen you can be set free you can be healed of a grudge you can be healed of a hurt if somebody's hurt you don't carry it around we sometimes say we're forgive but then we even every now and then we take them out and beat them a little bit and put them back in you know look at every talking you mentioned the social well let me tell you what so-and-so did to me and we revive that and renew it pulled the old scab off of the wound here we are Jesus said if you forgive your brothers your trans transgression God will forgive you but certainly if you don't God will not forget forgive you the glory of forgiveness and I close with the story it's in a lesson Acts 5. the fifth chapter of Acts of ananias and Sapphire they got so carried away with their new religion that and and this was never commanded of the Lord never approved to the Lord they did it on their own but they thought were so the coming Lord was so close and they were so enthonged and so thrilled with their religion they they agreed to sell their property and put it all in a common Treasury and everybody to live out of the same treasury well God never ordained that to be so but they agreed to do it and Barnabas the son of consolation he saw he had property assaulted and came and brought it and donated it analysis apparent they sold their property and kept back part of the money and brought part of it and laid it down to Peter Peter says this is all of it and I said his wife wasn't with him right then said yeah that's it he said analyst wife God failed why have Satan filled my heart to lie to the Holy Ghost you have not lied to man but you lied to God he called the Holy Ghost God he said why have you lied to the Holy Ghost said you haven't lied to man you lied to God and God struck him dead right there and the young men carried him out and buried him and just the space of time his wife came in with her portion and Peter said is this all you got that's all he said why is Satan failed you are said the same feat They Carried your husband said you're what and you're a winner and you don't know it the same boys care and she dropped in and the Bible says great fear fell on all the church and God did many miracles and great and wonderful things and even so much as when Peter walked down the road they'd see my shadow there when he walked down the road they brought people the latest beside the road as his shadow went over them they would be healed because of their faith that's that's how the Mighty the the power of God was moved and and it caused them so much stir I got two more minutes uh they caused such disturb that they were arrested put in jail and they were Sterno and say you're not going to preach to that anymore and an angel of God came down in the night and unlocked the doors and let them out and locked the door back and the next day the uh judge the religious leaders said go get those fellows and we're going to have a trial we're going to try them and they went down there and they came back said I said we were truly we we found the door locked but said there ain't nobody in there hmm and so they were much perplexed how how did they get out the doors locked and the guards were there all night and then directly hear somebody the angel told them said go back to the synagogue and start go back preaching that same thing and and I can hear somebody came back said you know those families that y'all put in jail and you told them not to preach in that said they're down there at the synagogue preaching in that name right now and they sent and got him and brought them in and said thought we told you not to preach anymore in that name by this time by this time so many people heard them and they had such a following that the magistrates was afraid to do anything pray they would get stoned they said we told you not to preach in that name anymore and Peter said we'd rather obey God than me would you stand with me please we'd rather obey God than man let me tell you something God of our fathers raised up Jesus whom he slew and hanged on a tree hymneth got exalted with the right hand to be a prince and a savior for to give repentance to Israel and forgiveness of sins father we thank you for this service tonight we thank you for the Blessed word of God I pray that you will let this word sink into our hearts and may we grow thereby and Lord give us a a greater desire and a greater appetite for the word I pray Lord your dismiss us from this place but not from your presence in the name of Jesus we pray amen God bless you you're dismissed in the name of the Lord shake hands and be friendly
