find your bibles and turn with me to second samuel chapter five and i'm just gonna stay in this vein of what the choir is kind of saying about here i want to read this one verse and then i'll give you my title and we'll pray and be seated and we'll kind of roll from there but amen so good to see everyone in the house of the lord so excited brother and sister fallon amen they have at least one to baptize tonight i'm excited about that excited about our church first apostolic church in cleveland pastor and sister family excited about what's going on amen oh just down highway or interstate 75. god is doing great things and we're so thankful for that amen my friends mcdonald's love them heartland district man nebraska what a beautiful place got to be with them just not too long ago a couple years i guess now i don't know do we count covet as a year that we just we just scratch out 20 20. so last year i think we're with you amen but so glad to have you with us and can you believe it's been a year some some ways it feels like it's been forever in other ways it feels like we were just doing our our nightly quarantine sessions about a month or two ago been a whole year amen but you know what i i see the light at the end of the tunnel and it feels good it just feels like there's there's coming today there's coming a day when we won't have to wear any more crazy masks or amen we won't be we won't have to have every other table at the restaurant uh vacant we're just gonna i just believe there's there's coming a day soon we're just gonna be able to go back to normal i'm looking forward to that amen second samuel chapter 5 and verse 20 says and david came to baal parism and david smote the philistines is who we're talking about there and said the lord hath broken forth upon mine enemies before me as the breach of waters therefore he called the name of that place baal perezim i want to read it from another translation it says afterward david said god exploded on my enemies like a gush of water and that's why david named the place baal perezm or the master who explodes and then one more translation so david went to baal perism and david defeated the philistines there and he said the lord has broken through mine enemies before me like a breakthrough of water therefore he called the name of the place baal perezm i want to preach about breakthrough tonight but not just a one-time explosion but i want to preach about creating a culture of breakthrough creating a call we we're not in this just for a one-time victory i'm thankful for the choir singing about victory over things in our life and that we are winners in his name but it's not it's not just for a one-time victory i believe that we can create a culture of breakthrough that every time the enemy comes up against us we can break through them like a flood like a gush of water creating a culture of breakthrough put your bibles out let's pray before we preach father we love you lord i'm so thankful oh my god you're so good lord you're so wonderful what a mighty spirit i feel in this place a victorious spirit lord i i want to continue in the vein of victory i want to continue in this vein of of being overcomers and and being breakers and being those that can break through situations in their life father i pray that as i preach your word that you've given me lord that every heart would hear lord god that every heart would understand every person under the sound of my voice would feel your power lord your anointing lord and give them the hope that they can break through any situation in their life in jesus name we pray why don't you clap your hands unto the lord and give him all the praises to his name tonight hallelujah jesus hallelujah you may be seated brother holland i'll take just a little bit more in my monitors and i thank you thank you so so very much creating a culture of breakthrough the word baal perism comes it's very similar to what we would say baal perez the hebrew word baal perez which simply means lord of the breakthrough baal lord of the breakthrough perez and and that's not however what david named the valley he he named it belle perezim which is the plural to perez which simply means he called it he named it the lord of the breakthroughs plural i love that right there because there's going to be valleys in our lives we're going to face what seemingly are insurmountable odds but our god is a god of the breakthroughs plural he's a god he's a god who sees every battle we fight and he's always there and he's always right on time the first time we hear the name perez matter of fact why don't you turn in your bibles with me to genesis chapter 38 i just want to read uh the first mention of perez bible says and it came to pass in verse 27. in the time of her travail that behold twins were in her womb and it came to pass when she travailed that the one put out his hand and the midwife took and bound upon his hand a scarlet thread saying this came out first and it came to pass as he drew back his hand that behold his brother came out and she said how hast thou broken forth this breach be upon thee therefore his name was called forest or perez it's the same person just a different pronunciation different spelling of a name perez simply means breaker one that breaks through one that breaks forth or one that breaks out and so we know about perez we know in the bible we read and we find out he was a twin it would seem that he was supposed to be born second but he broke the birth order and he was born first he was the son of tamar and judah the illegitimate offspring of a father-in-law unknowingly sleeping with his daughter-in-law we understand that the house of perez was famous for being men of valor valiant men men of might and and perez produced a lineage of champions and and we've probably heard of a couple of them king david was one of them and jesus christ was one of them lineage of this perez this breaker he created a culture of breakthrough and his offering knew nothing different than having continual breakthrough i want to preach a little bit about perez tonight you see we we read about david in the second samuel chapter five and this is our our our theme verse and our opening verse tonight and he's crowned king over israel we understand that samuel years before had anointed him to be the next king but but we now find david and david is beloved by all people matter of fact he started off as just king of judah but the other tribes the tribes of israel saw that the king of judah was a mighty man called david and so even the tribes of israel came together and said we want you to be the king over the whole nation all the tribes of israel and so the enemy finds out and read with me verse 17 says but when the philistines heard that they had anointed david king over israel all the philistines came up to seek david and david heard of it and went down to the hold and the philistines also came and spread themselves in the valley of reframe and refrigerant means giants i want you to visualize this with me he is going to the valley of giants and it's a good thing that we understand that by this point that david knew a little something about giants and i hate to be the bearer of bad news but goliath is just the first giant that david is going to have to fight and we better not think that just because we defeat our goliath that we can just sit back and relax because we've done the great deed and all of a sudden we're a warrior and all of a sudden the women of the country are starting to sing our praises and and saul has killed his thousands but david has killed his ten thousands and david you better be careful you can't just sit back and think that you're gonna sit on a throne without any confrontation because when the enemy finds out that you're on the throne they're coming to look for you they're coming to find you and so david goes up to his stronghold and david i love this in verse 19. he inquired of the lord saying shall i go up to the philistines will you deliver them into my hand if there is a barrier in your way if the door is closed that is in your path just like pastor carpenter preached this morning whatever you do don't walk up and just kick it down i've seen that happen way too many times i i've seen people make decisions before they inquired of the lord david was a giant fighter i i would say that david had a lot of confidence he he probably was somebody that as a warrior of his caliber he probably understood i could probably go down there and i could take advantage of some giants because i've done it before and i could do it again but david had enough sense to inquire of the lord before he made a move it would be it would be wise of every person before we make any big decision in our life before we make a decision listen i've seen some people make some foolish decisions because they first made the decision and then they asked god what he thought about it i've seen some pretty messed up marriages i've seen some young ladies i'll see some young ladies there's some young man they should have never dated because they saw he oh he's cute he's good looking he's cool he's a good baller he might be a good singer a good drummer whatever it is and you start dating somebody and then later on after you fall in love then you decide well god what do you think about him but david was too wise for that david was like i'm confident of who i am i'm confident in my god but i've got enough sense to inquire of the lord before i make my first move so here we have david here we have david as he inquires of the lord and he says shall i go up to the philistines will will you deliver them in my hand and the lord said unto david go up for i will doubtless deliver the philistines into thine hand so we have our key verse and david came to baal perez him and david smoked them there and said the lord hath broken forth upon mine enemies before me as a breach of waters he said it was like a dam that had burst and the waters had gushed forth and and therefore he called the place lord of the breakthroughs and there they left the philistines left their images and david and his men burned them listen this world is not my home we're just traveling through i said this world is not give me jesus you could take this whole world but give me jesus we used to sing songs about it all the time i'd rather have jesus than silver and gold i'd rather have jesus and riches untold david was simply saying you're bringing your gods and you're bringing your idols you're bringing nashville and hollywood and all these things into my valley he said i'm gonna burn them but i like this next verse because it simply says and i i'm not even gonna finish the story but the next verse says and the philistines came yet again yet again and spread themselves in the valley of raythran one breakthrough is never enough i'm gonna say it again one breakthrough is never enough because the enemy will never give up there will always be something in your pathway that's trying to hinder you multiple giants are going to require multiple breakthroughs i'm going to say it again multiple giants are going to require multiple breakthrough because every giant you defeat will attract more giants when those giants heard about david defeating goliath every single one of them they didn't shake in their boots they're like where is he at let me have a piece of him i'll show i'll finish where goliath tried to start every success spiritually that you accomplish is going to attract a new barrier that you're going to have to break through in order to reach your next spiritual success david defend a giant named goliath is a war story that defines david as a man of breakthrough but i love that david when he led his army into the valley of giants it proved that david had birthed a culture of breakthrough he said come on guys follow me i'm going to show you how it's done i'm going to show you what a breakthrough feels like i i can't even imagine what david felt when he saw goliath fall to the ground i can't imagine what david felt when he took goliath's own sword out of the sheep and he cut his head off and he took that head by the hair of the head and he slung it up over the wall i can't even imagine what that felt like for david but david was like i want you guys to feel what i feel when i'm victorious when i feel the feeling of the overcomer inside of me he was creating a culture of breakthrough let me preach for a moment do you know why i'm a proud member of first apostolic church of maryville i'll tell you why because my leader determines my culture whoever you choose to be your leader is going to develop the culture that you've got to live inside of a culture of breakthrough has been birthed in this church by vision and by leadership of our senior pastor and his wife and and some of you might be saying no no no define culture because there's a lot of different definitions of culture let me define what i'm talking about tonight a culture is a way of life of a group of people the behaviors beliefs values and symbols that they accept generally without thinking about them and they pass them along by communication and imitation from one generation to the next culture is a collective programming of the mind that distinguishes the members of one group or category of people from another it does matter who your leader is it does matter the direction your leader is taking somebody help me it does matter the type of culture that is being created for you and for your family i'm glad i'm in an apostolic pentecostal church that believes this apostolic doctrine from the front to the back i'm so thankful we have a pastor we have a first lady who live it who example it who teach it who show us with love with mercy with grace i'm thankful to be a part of the church of the living god you may be seated i'm also i'm also a licensed minister of the assemblies of the lord jesus christ it is not because it's the largest or the flashiest organization but it is the culture that i want my family and i want my church family to be a part of because direction matters if you ask anybody if they're a pilot of an airplane of any kind of craft if you get off just a percentage of a degree and you go any distance at all you're not going to end up anywhere near where you thought you were going to end up your destination changes if you just alter your your direction just a little bit and so when we create this culture that i'm preaching about tonight we got to make sure and we do have a leader that's gonna point us in the right direction and is gonna make sure we get to the destination we intend to get to somebody send him in leave me lead me you can't think you're going to join something and not take on its culture its behaviors its beliefs its values and its systems it's so important that the right kind of culture is created because it's going to go from generation to generation did you hear what i said it's something that you follow without even thinking about culture is something that you just you just are because you've allowed it to influence your life you don't think about it you you don't think about where you're going and how you're doing it what you're saying which you you just do it because that's just the culture that you're that you've been brought into and so when i start preaching about a breakthrough culture i want to give you the purpose why it's so important because our children should not have to deal with the very same things that i've had to deal with and we should not have to deal with the very same things that our parents had to deal with because if we don't create a breakthrough culture every generation kicks up against the same the same barriers in their life granddaddy fought it daddy thought it now i'm fighting it and chances on my kids are gonna are gonna fight it chances are the very same thing that tripped up granddaddy and trypto daddy are gonna trip me up they're called generational curses i i listen i don't even believe in generational curses the bible says greater is he that is within you if the holy ghost is inside of you now listen i can't speak for the world i know there's generational curses in the world when people don't have the spirit of god helping them to be something different and reform their life into something better than it was but if you have the holy ghost inside of you i don't believe you could even speak the word generational curse i don't care if you have alcoholism in your family and prostitution in your family and drug addiction in your family all kinds of sin and debauchery in your family if the bible says that the lord is greater than the enemy of this world we can say i've got the power victory i am a winner we win we win i feel the holy ghost in this place there's a place of anointing there's a place of power there's a place of holiness and all you have to be do all you have to do is be born into his genealogy you may be seated you may be seated say pastor x you you don't understand you you don't know my background you don't know my back story man i listen i've not heard them yet but i heard we had some unbelievable testimonies that were given yesterday and i i can't wait to hear those i i can't wait till they put them online i can't wait to hear how how people have been brought out of so much and things happened to people and people were overcomers and their paths were all muddy and murky admiring but somehow someway they took on a new genealogy my question is have you been baptized in jesus name have you been filled with the spirit of god because it's time we realize what we've been born into galatians 3 and 27 says for as many of you as have been baptized into christ have put on christ or or you put on his lineage and you've taken on his characteristics whatever jesus is is what we become i'm going to say it again whatever jesus is is what we become and that's what baptism does for you that's what baptism does for me by one spirit we are all baptized into one body look at galatians 4 4 but when the fullness of time was come god sent forth his son made of a woman made under the law to redeem them that were under the law that we might receive adoption of sons and because ye are sons god hath sent forth the spirit of his son into your hearts crying abba father that's the holy ghost right here therefore thou art no more a servant but a son and if a son then an heir oh i like this right here then an heir of god through christ because of calvary we become an heir now to all you rich people it doesn't mean a thing but to anybody who's struggling even a little bit when you attend that funeral with that loved one you didn't want him to die but listen knowing that you're an heir of somebody knowing that whatever is theirs becomes yours i don't know about you but that that excites me when i think about the power that we are in air of we are the heirs we are the heirs we put on christ and we become the heirs baptism in water causes us to put on christ or or places us in the lineage of jesus christ that's pastor and baptism of the spirit causes us to become heirs and that puts jesus in our future that's why the name of jesus in baptism and the infilling of the holy ghost are so important it's listen to me it's you're not joining the church when you go down in the water you're not making a you're not you're not you're not making a public proclamation that that you've given your life and your heart to god it's not that at all you're putting on christ you become a brand new creature your heir we become heirs with him it lines us up for a lineage of a breakthrough culture stop talking about generational curses there is greatness in your genealogy there is greatness in your heritage come on somebody i believe today that if we could ever realize what we have in baptism what we have in the infilling of the holy ghost we would never talk about our past again we would only say hey i've got a beautiful future and i've got a beautiful pasta listen i don't care what the world knew i used to be all that matters is my sins have been covered i've been covered by the blood of jesus my sins have been washed away i've never been much never been much into horse racing but i i've driven through kentucky you've taken that i-75 north as you're going up through kentucky and many times i've noticed these beautiful beautiful horse farms and you see the the white the beautiful fences as they they go around they go around uh these these great these great horse farms and i don't know if you've noticed it or not but sometimes i notice that there's two fences i don't know they're probably uh from from speaker to speaker here they they might be 15 feet away from each other and and the fences they they follow each other and they go all the way around the pasture where the horses are and and i often wondered i thought you know maybe this is where uh they they walk or run the horses or they let them gallop freely between the fences and and i began to study horse breeding and i found out the reason that there are two fences is because one fence cannot be insured when you're breeding race horses thoroughbred horses insurance companies won't even ensure because what you've got inside that fence if they ever get outside if just if you got a storm and a tree falls on top of one of those fences and those horses get out the insurance company says you better have a second fence to back up the first fence so i began to study these thoroughbreds because that interested me already and i thought man tell me a little bit more about it so i began to to google these these race horses these thoroughbred horses and i i found out that when you purchase a thoroughbred racehorse you are purchasing his past his parents define his worth a stallion and a mayor come together and have a cult and four hundred thousand dollars is the call as the cost of that cult's heritage it's not the cost of that ugly newborn cult that can't even can't even walk and it has all kinds of birth all over him it's not it's not because he's beautiful because he has a beautiful mane and a beautiful tail it's not that you're not buying his looks you're buying his heritage you're buying what mama and daddy put into them listen to me baptism gives us a breakthrough heritage breakthrough is what's in the blood listen to me somebody breakthrough is what's in the blood i'm preaching about creating a culture of breakthrough when we realize what's in our blood i've been purchased i've been adopted all he is inside of me and i cry out the father somebody give him praise if you've got the holy ghost and you've been baptized in his name you were a feral bread come on somebody just praise him for a moment sometimes we get so caught up in tongues and we get so caught up in being excited because we hear somebody speak in tongues we forget about what's really going on we forget about the power that is ingested inside of their body by the spirit of god thoroughbred you may be seated so what exactly is is is breakthrough come on we hear we sing about a breakthrough in my heart break through in my mind breakthrough in my spirit breakthrough in my soul breakness and my weakness breakthrough in us we sing about it and we shout about it but sometimes we got to step back and go why do i need a breakthrough why do i need to be a part of a culture of breakthrough look at second corinthians i put it on the screen chapter 3 verse 17 it says now the lord is the spirit and where the spirit of the lord is there's a liberty now listen a lot a lot of times i'm a worship leader and so i'll say it all the time i say the spirit of the lord is here and i feel the liberty in this place and we talk about the sanctuary in the house of god and come in the house of god and you'll feel freedom and there's nothing wrong with that because it's true but when this verse says where the spirit of the lord is it's talking about if you've got the spirit of the lord inside of you there ought to be liberty there ought to be freedom we ought to be able to break through things that the world can't break through there are to be things that can't addict us to them come on do we really believe in the power of god listen i know this world talks about i tell you what you're going to be addicted to something that's not true unless you like it unless you want it to be true but if you've got the spirit of the lord inside of you where the spirit of the lord is there is liberty freedom breakthrough you may be seated break through it's inside of us so anytime we feel stuck anytime we feel like we're we're at a standstill and i don't know i might be the only one that ever feels these feelings anytime we feel we're up against impossible situations within ourselves we ought to know it's time for a breakthrough it's time for a breakthrough it might be a spiritual breakthrough inside it might be a mental breakthrough inside of us but it also might be just something like i need a ministry breakthrough i need a worship breakthrough i need a praise listen we can also create cultures that are toxic grandfathers that don't worship can produce sons that don't worship their sons can produce sons grandsons that don't worship and so sometimes we got to create this culture even of worship listen i never i never ever want to get to the place where there is not exuberant worship in the pentecostal church listen it's we're getting pulled against let me tell you something we're getting pulled against there's a there's a faction of people in churches who laugh at those other churches who think it's okay to run the isles i was with a pastor last week and he said he said i was invited i was invited to a group of pastors in my district not a district you're you're in or aware of he said i was invited to this meeting with this group of pastors and they began to laugh they they were he said they were holding their stomachs they were laughing so hard telling stories did you see this church online their people were jumping up and down like jumping beans and and these people were were jumping out of the choir lot and man they were singing songs and running the aisle they began these were people they called consider themselves pentecostal they were laughing at other churches listen i want to masturbate worship i want worship listen we can never get to the place where we don't believe there ought to be a breakthrough when it comes to worship in a breakthrough in praise it'll break through with dancing and shouting come on somebody if we don't worship we're going to bring up a culture of young people that don't know how to worship and they're going to bring up a culture of children that don't know how to worship but god we are going to form a culture we're going to raise up a culture we're going to create a cultural breakthrough i think pastor what you're trying to say is that they had to cancel services on sunday because nobody showed up because there was no power i wouldn't want to go to a dead church either cut down the services listen i come to this church two times i'll go to church in seville a third time because i believe in power there's power in worship there's power in praise there's power and anointing give me democrative praise and worship when the spirit of the lord comes upon my heart i'll test like david dance the bible never says that david fought goliath with all his might it never says that he thought a bear with all his might or fought a lion with all his might but it says he danced before the lord with all his might breakthrough in my praise breakthrough in my dance hey come on we need a culture a breakthrough we need a culture of young people that don't have the very same barriers and very same obstacles that we have but god help us to create a culture that understands what breakthrough is all about listen i'm not throwing off on anybody if you've got a physical ailment to where you can't get up and you can't run god bless you wave your hand just wave your head it's okay i understand but while we've got legs to run when i've got hands i'm going to dance i'm going to shout i'm going to give god praise yes a generational breakthrough i like to see the babies running let me tell you something ain't nothing as beautiful as somebody who just gets in the church and begins to dance and they don't even know what to do they don't have our apostolic two step down they just start just flinging their arms and flinging their legs i call it the dance of the redeemed the dance of the redeemed i don't care what i look like michael look out your window i don't care what you think of me cool somebody breakthrough right now i don't even have to finish this message i love to see the next generation breaking through yes brother lord presence parents are going on to be with the lord but they understood how to break through in worship and they raised boys they raised card present who understood how to break through and worship and now i see young men three boys that understand how to break through a culture hey just stay right where you are to stay right where you are nehemiah 11 and 6. i want you to listen to this because this is beautiful it says all the sons of perez that dwelt at jerusalem were 400 three score and eight valiant men i'm talking about one man who was born of a man named praise perez was the son of judah son i know when you grow up and you're old enough to realize what your mama did and who your daddy really is i know there's going to be some shame within you but always remember you are the son of praise when your life when your life seems freer when it seems like everybody's against you when it seems like everything is coming up against you you got to remember you are the son of praise and anybody that is the son of praise can create a culture of praise culture of breakthrough hey shalom the students that sang in the choir that open up this service tonight will not have to fight the same battles that we fight adults if we love them enough to create a culture for them revival and multiplication in the kingdom of god will take place when every generation doesn't have to start back over again think about it every generation every pentecostal generation that comes up in the church shouldn't have to go back and fight their same battles that daddy fought we would have more church growth we'd have more attendance in our small groups we'd have more attendance in our school and even in our daycare if people weren't fighting the same battles that previous generations were fighting but that's why we are creating this culture what a beautiful culture oh my god a culture a breakthrough i'm almost done but i want to tell you i want to share a story with you there's just one more story a man that you know the name chuck yeager was the first person to break the sound barrier many pilots had already tried but they didn't have what it took they pushed the throttle forward until their plane began to shake it was about to go out of control and they felt like they were about to crash and burst into a million pieces and so they would pull back on the throttle and they would land their plane safe and sound but it was chuck yeager who sat down in his cockpit one day and he said i've got my mind made up live or die when i get to the point of breakthrough i'm gonna shove this throttle forward as hard as i can and chuck wrote it in his book he said i told myself if anybody is going to make history it might as well be me if anybody in my family is going to experience breakthrough it might as well be me if anybody is going to be anointed coming from my family tree it might as well be me hey if anybody is going to receive the revelation of the oneness of god i'm thankful it was me if anybody is going to get baptized in jesus name for the remission of their sins i'm thankful it was me chuck yeager made the statement he said as soon as i broke through the sound barrier it became the smoothest flying i had ever known you see he found out that the same pressure that caused his plane to shake violently out of control turned into the very same pressure that became the driving force that rocketed him into new dimensions that same pressure that makes you just want to give up and give in and throw in the towel will be the same pressure that pushes you to your promise i just want to encourage somebody today perez was not only the great great great great great great great grandfather of david seven generations but he just understood who his father was he just understood how to get out of situations he understood what to do in the time of need and in the time when everything seemed impossible he just did what was natural and he praised one final thought and then we're going to praise and worship we're going to i've often wondered what the loud clap of thunder is when a plane breaks the sound barrier anybody ever wonder what that was all you scientists know here's what i found out it was understood that an aircraft in flight sends pressure waves ahead of it which break up the atmosphere allowing the aircraft to fly forward however when a plane approaches the speed of sound a physical barrier is created as the plane catches up with its own pressure waves and it compresses the air in front of it and an explosion takes place of that air which becomes the thunder cloud that you hear as the pressure breaks through the barrier so if you're planning on having a breakthrough in silence you're never gonna have a breakthrough at all you gotta make noise and build up pressure in front of your barrier you might find yourself shaking out of control you might find your body doing things that's never done before and that's okay because you're getting ready for a breakthrough you're getting ready for break through my weakness i need to break through in my struggles i need to pray through my worship i need to break through my praise i need breakthrough in my dance i need to break through in my shell somebody make some noise in this place come on allow that pressure to build up allow those noise those sound waves to build up you're struggling with i don't know what kind of barriers in your life come on somebody make some noise come on somebody you got to make some noise you got to open up your mouth if you want the holy ghost you got to hear yourself begin to praise make some noise make some noise make some noise make some noise uh in my heart me right you are is right now breakthrough right you is foreign breakthrough breakthrough i really don't know what to do you are the i really don't know what to do is is my oh and i really don't know what to do you are i really don't know what to do you are i right me is is is you are the guy i really don't know what to do don't know what to do so we've already got two that are going to get ready to get baptized tonight if there's anybody else under the sound of my voice and you've never been that pies in the name of the lord jesus christ for the removal the remission of your sins come on we got a change of clothes for you come on why don't you join these other two and get baptized tonight this could be your night covered by the blood what a heritage what a lineage what a future come on tonight to be your night is my refuge and i
