turn with me to Acts chapter 4 Acts chapter 4 once again so good to have all of our guests in the house what a privilege it is to have you here worshiping at first Apostolic Church I believe that God gave me a message tonight because we've seen such a powerful soul revival the last month and a half if you're visiting here in the house we have we have had services I believe it was just about I don't know about three weeks ago we had about six or seven receive the gift of the Holy Ghost they made a decision right on the spot they walked up foul one another into the pool got baptized in Jesus name for the remission of his sins I just feel on my heart I believe that God gave me a word you know we preach a lot about the necessity to receive the Holy Ghost right the plan of salvation but many times we don't really preach about what we're supposed to do with it once we receive it and so I don't know this this message I'm losing my microphone but this message it may be it may be for our new converts that just receive the Holy Ghost and maybe it might also be for some of us who've had the Holy Ghost for 30 and 40 years and maybe 50 and 60 years we have a lot of veterans in the house tonight have the Holy Ghost from many years sister gloss so we're you how many years if you had the Holy Ghost 70 years sister glosses had the Holy Ghost and she knows what to do with it to just ask her about it she'll tell you I love sister gloss and happy birthday by the way I hate I was out of town for your surprise birthday party but I I saw the pictures and I was jealous I'm so glad that they threw that for you amen anybody that has the Holy Ghost seven years as their as a party somebody said amen I'm working my wife and I we we write a little bit she writes a lot of song I just write a little bit she writes a lot but I gave her a title I was here and I remember the night when all of those most of them were men ran up here received the Holy Ghost and the power brother art the power hit them and something hit me a song entitled the dance of the redeemed because as apostolic Pentecostals we kind of have our own two-step dance right I mean we kind of know the move we we kind of know just how you know we know this heart the arms go on the legs go and we just some we grow if you grew up under the Pew you kind of know what the Apostolic dance looks like but then there's people for the Thompson but they just get something on inside of them and they don't know what to do with it and their arms start flinging out here and their legs start flinging it and sometimes Apple stylist we can look at it and say well they got to learn how to dance well let me tell you something there is dancing the dance of the routine because they got something in there they don't know how to contain it they just stop moving around it it doesn't have to be pretty and so maybe this message maybe this message maybe is for them but I I just I'm glad that we have people in here new Congress there's something about new conference they're reckless with the power that they've been given and I don't mean in a bad way I mean it is they just don't care they're they're not intimidated by things they'll go into the workplace and just start witnessing when they don't even know what they're talking about but they've heard it preached from the pulpit they know they know what the truth is they may not be able to explain it they may not be able to defend it but they sure know then it's true and there's just something about a new commerce spirit that has the Holy Ghost and they say what do I do with this well that's what I want to preach about tonight Acts chapter 4 4 verse 7 I want to just read just a few verses in your hearing Uppal says they came to pass on the morrow that their rulers and elders and scribes and anise the high priests and then oh the kindred of the high priest they're gathered together in Jerusalem they've got Peter they've got John and they've got him on trial just pulled him up out of jail there put them on trial and when they had said Peter and John in the midst they asked them here we go by what power or by what name have you done this we're going to preach about that this in just a moment then Peter this sounds kind of familiar here then Peter filled with the Holy Ghost said unto them then Peter said unto them I'm just going to stop right here because I want to go back a little bit and preach a little while why they got to where they were but I want you to know when you're filled with the Holy Ghost you've got power inside of you can't explain it you can't contain it if something inside a this is hey what power and what name shall this be done by the powers in the name somebody say the power is in the name say this with me say I've got the name so I got the power come on if you feel the Holy Ghost and say I've got the name so I've got the power oh this one my turn I like what I feel I've got the name so I've got the power come on if you've got the Holy Ghost why don't you throw up both hands in here and that's just crazy for just a moment yeah I love you Jesus I love what I feel in this room I love the spirit that's here already I love to feel the holy power of the Holy Ghost in a holy church hmm speak to every person under the sound of my voice if they've been filled with your spirit let them know what that I do with your Holy Ghost in Jesus name I pray and the church said amen amen you may be seated my title tonight is simply I already possess exactly what I need I'm gonna say it again I already possess exactly what I need turn with me back a back a chapter into Acts chapter 3 I want to I want to get the back story of what we just read in our text and and everything inside of me just wants to come out of the gate preaching but I understand there's wisdom in setting a firm foundation to a message and I'll study in Acts chapter 3 for the Dillion of time you know you just got acts as an easy book to read Acts is a good book to read somebody said a man it's the early church it's the beginning it's with what Jesus came to earth to do he's fall in the kingdom he he formed a church and Acts chapter one beautiful chapter Acts chapter two couldn't live couldn't go to heaven without it Acts chapter three I studied and three things that you got to do when you study you got to know who the author is that you're reading you are you are you ought to know who the main characters are and you ought to know what the setting is because that way you won't take stuff out of context a lot of people preach stuff out of context because they don't know those three things they just open their Bibles start reading this to assume things but you've got a when you truly study the word you got to understand the author of this book of Acts is none other than Saint Luke the Evangelist the physician it was the Apostle Luke who also wrote the Gospel of Luke and if you read through the Gospel of Luke and if you're reading your Bible and you skip John if you go from Luke and you skip John into Acts it's the same author and you just kind of smoothly goes from Luke tax the main characters let's talk about them it's Peter and John Peter and John who both had biological brothers among the twelve but you always hear the ministry of Peter in chock I love to read stories about Peter and John there's some kind of faith going on there that you just can't be compared to and then the seti and this is what I really want to stop for a moment and preach the setting is the very next account after the day of Pentecost you know that's chapter two and and I realize that at the end of Acts chapter two it kind of gave up the form of the church and and what they did taylean and how they fellowship together they break bread together and they talked about they were doing great things but then when you turn over to chapter three it starts to give specific accounts of what God was doing through his church so look with me in Acts chapter three verse one and and please keep in mind this is the very first account after the Holy Ghost has been poured out upon the church since now Peter and John went up together into the temple at the hour of prayer being the ninth hour and I want to say this that this was not the first time this was not a tradition they began after they received the Holy Ghost they were already accustomed to going into the house of prayer going to the temple and praying there were three prayer times there's a prayer call at sunrise there was a prayer at 3:00 p.m. and then there was another prayer every day at sunset and the Jewish people they would make sure they at least went to one of these call to prayers so Peter and John they're they're coming somewhere they're used to coming and a certain man lame from his mother's womb was being carried whom they lay daily at the gate of the temple which is called beautiful to ask alms of them that entered into the temple and I don't know about you but it seems like a good place to be laid at the temple gate because you would think that people of God would want to give alms and give charity to people who were who are laid out at the gate and it's really nothing new I I couldn't help we ate it uh élber al however you say that it's it's I just called the barrel the Mexican restaurant over off of 4:11 and I can't help but there's a little lady it has a sign and she's she's looking for a handout and I only see her there on Sundays and on her side she had the biggest boldest word is the word Jesus she knows what she's doing I'm not saying she's probably I'm sure she isn't me but she knows where to be she knows all of them true Christian those church people they come eat they come eat at this strip mall on Sundays and and so I'm gonna make sure that I'm here with my Jesus sign letting them know please come on and this was the same thing this man was doing he understood the people who should understand charity are the people that are coming to the house of God and the Bible says in verse 4 and peer fastening his eyes upon this man with John said look on us I want you to keep it first up Peter fastening his eyes upon I don't know about you but most of the time everybody else that probably saw this man they probably wanted to turn their head away from him because they saw him day after day they came three times a three times a day every day of the week to pray and they saw this same man laying here and I gotta believe that the average person probably turned away because that's just the natural thing to do the natural thing to do when you see somebody in need it's the turn away it's wrong but it's a natural thing to do I don't know about you I'll come off with some overpasses before and you come to a stop at the bottom of the highway and there you are looking face to face with somebody and they're looking for a handout and the first thing that I want to do I fight myself but the first thing that I want to do is look away because somehow some aah maybe if we don't acknowledge the issue maybe we won't be held responsible for the outcome I'm gonna say that again maybe if we don't acknowledge the issue maybe we won't be held responsible for the outcome that's just in our mind it's just something that happens to us and it's something that naturally we want to look away from the need everything is going good in our life everything's like it should be and the natural response is to look away but I'm so glad that it when it came to our free class we didn't look away when we begin to notice that there were people with addictions in our community we decided you know what we're gonna start a free class that get people off of drugs get people off the alcohol and all kinds of addictions that help them about it I want you to know whenever people get sick of looking away they look towards the need and say I've got to do something about the need if somebody set him in it's for the same reason that over to about 25 years ago first Apostolic Church started a marriage retreat because there were issues in marriages and instead of looking away we said what can we do to help the marriage of the local church now I know there are a lot of us are looking there's a fun time we we look forward to going to marriage retreat we look forward it's a lot of fun this year we're going for two nights we bring in great speakers we we watch funny funny videos we we do all kinds I have newlywed games that do all kinds of crazy stuff and it's all about fun but it goes so much further than that because somewhere along the way I looked and said I can't look away I've got to look towards the need and the need is we gotta have healthy marriages at first Apostolic Church somebody said Amen are you thankful I'm thankful my marriage is thankful I'm glad for Friday night but I sure do thank God for Saturday because things are put into my life sometimes it's just preventative maintenance you said my marriage is okay well maybe it is right now maybe you gotta go and make sure you get the preventative maintenance so so one day you're not falling into the same traps other people are falling into and I thank God then we don't just ignore the problem but we look toward the problem we started a Christian school decades ago why because we could not ignore the fact that our kids were being raised in Egypt I like what you said earlier our children will being raised in Egypt because what happens is the longer you're in Egypt the longer Egypt begins to raise you you start thinking and talking like an Egyptian and so our pastor had a burden for Christian school so what did he do he didn't look away when the problem arose he looked at square in the face and said we gotta get a Christian school started so our children can come up under an apostolic atmosphere and all the parents you ought to say Amen Peter and John got tired of looking away they get tired of ignoring the issue and the Bible says they fastened their eyes upon this beggar and I don't know I begin to read in the stories because a lot of times you can read your Bible especially when you start your Bible at the beginning a year and you're going through your bread counter and you trying to make it through your four or five chapters you know what I'm saying and you're reading you're reading you're reading you're reading and you're done and you check it off but sometimes I just like to stop and think about each event that's taking place and I think of Peter and John who had never performed a miracle if you're reading your Bible I studied to now look through and the Bible talks about the Jesus commissioned them in the Gospels but he said wait on the promise of the Father and all that promise of the father you're gonna have power to go out and be witnesses you're gonna go out there's gonna be miracle signs and wonders are gonna take place from the power you receive from the Father and I got to thinking what must have they been like now it's easy it's easy to tell our Facebook friends I'll pray for you somebody presents the need on Facebook and we get on and say I'm praying for you and I if we do pray for me but that's easy but what about what you've just received the gift of the Holy Ghost you've just received power and now you come across a lame man who is in his 40s who has been lame since his birth what must have it been like what was the pressure that Peter and John felt saying I have got to have enough faith to pull this man up from off this pot and on to his feet on the ankle buoyant bones who had never had strength in them what kind of faith does it take to do something like that and I got to thinking what am I doing with the Holy Ghost that I've got do I have that kind of faith that I can just walk up to somebody listen I'm not taking away from anything somebody could come up in the prayer line and oh my god we believe in laying hands on people and northing them with oil and praying the prayer of faith and believing that whatever's wrong in their party is gonna be healed we believe that and we know that it happens but what about when you reach down into a wheelchair pull somebody up that's been crippled all their life I'm talk about the very next event that took place after Pentecost after the Holy Ghost was poured out after they were baptized in the name of Jesus Christ this was the very first thing that Peter and John did in chapter 3 I think of myself I don't know if I would have that kind of place but if I'm ever put in that situation God give me holy boldness I'll step up and say how such as I have rise up in a walk I begin to think of for the Grim I began to think of of some of your missionary stories that you've told me missionaries stories of of satanic worshippers coming in to some of your Crusades to come and interrupt the Spirit of God moving seeing them come in but there's some there's some things that happen in third-world countries they just don't go on here in America stuff we just don't see people who are demon-possessed beyond anything we've ever witnessed but I remember the story you told me when you began to speak to the devil it was in spite of those people he said he said brother Erickson never lay hands I remember you tell me this he said never lay hands on people that have devils within them because jesus never did Jesus always spoke he spoke to the sphere within them and brother Graham unless the brother Graham I I commend you for having the Holy Ghost boldness to speak to Devils they were inside of people in a foreign land and brother Grimm you told me as you begin to speak and you begin to cast out those Devils those satanic worshippers would go down to their faces and they would try to get back up off the ground and they could not pull their faces from off the ground and then he said he went a step further then a mother brought a little baby who had a growth I believe the growth was was somewhere on the baby's chest just on her belly Billy had a great tumor inside of it of great growth it's so wide that the growth came out from the little babies was it a little sweater or something she was wearing brother brother Grimm this was the exact same time when these satanic worshippers could not get up off the ground I thank God for the boldness of a missionary they began to pray for their little child and I just believed because of his boldness with those satanic worshippers and those demon-possessed people the boldness he had he laid hands upon that child he said my eyes were closed he said I was babies closing come back together disappeared inside a miracle that I'll still take it place today you may be seated the very first miracle attempt ah I don't know I don't know I pray for faith and boldness inside of me I pray God help me but I don't want to see the Holy Ghost just as a get out of hell free card I don't want to look at this just part of the plan of salvation is that I've got a help in order to make it to heaven and I thank God for the plan but God did not give us his spirit just so we could get to heaven he gave us his spirit so we could do something with it while we're down here on earth somebody shout Amen we can't let our insecurities getting couch weight we can't allow fear to overcome our face if the Holy Ghost tells you to minister to somebody that you an encounter on the way to church you oughta fasten your eyes upon them don't look away but fasten your eyes upon them and help them out of the state that they're in it reminds me of a young man a waiter our our family that Eric's a carpenter him and family we're all eating one evening late we come to evening prayer in January and we go to one of our favorite restaurants and and the young man there just a friendly guy a nice guy he's from Hong Kong man in fact I met him before I went to Hong Kong he said you're going to Hong Kong are you crazy I said a little bit but he's grown up Buddhism is is huge in Hong Kong that's all he's ever known he came to the University of Tennessee and he said he said he said his mom thinks he's in graduate school whatever that means I think he's still getting money from I don't know what's going on with that but he began to ask questions why why why do you you look like you look and he's very bold in his end when he starts talking he's very bold but he's in a good spirit he has all her questions but something inside of us it was it was immediate this is somebody who's hungry he wants to know more and we begin to tell him about a Bible study we began to tell about the church we'd be gonna tell him listen you've never experienced anything like this before you're gonna come and feel something you've never felt and any one of your Buddhist temples you're gonna come here and feel something you've never felt wherever you go to church and where he said I'd never been to church before we some listen this is not any ordinary Church if you encounter somebody don't just look away if you know they're hungry you gotta step out and let the Holy Ghost move and sneak through you say hey such as I have give out to thee for sport the reader gave Peter fasted in his eyes upon him with John said look on can you imagine can you imagine what that beggar felt like hip and lame all all his life all he would know would be a low self-esteem I gotta believe that Peter said look on us because he was looking towards the ground humility he was looking down and feeling downcast and not good enough and here come these worshipers in they've got they've got good legs and they've got good jobs and they're coming the temple to go pray Here I am all I can do is beg all I can do is ask for charity and I just believe the Peter looked at him and said I want to change your whole paradigm of thinking it's time that you stop looking down it is found that you lifted up your head lift up your head oh he can shop and be lifted up you everlasting doors and the King of glory shall come in who is this King of glory it's a Lord strong and mighty the Lord mighty in battle the Lord of Hosts he is the king of glory let me tell you something there's people all around us at the workplace there's people in your colleges in your dormitory in their heads are hanging down because their past is nothing more than a disgrace and discouragement but if we can lift up their heads and say look upon us we got something for you that you've never seen before but you gotta look up and change your way of thinking no more poor me but you gotta change their thinking the powerful me can't help us if we're gonna make a difference in our community it's gonna be more than just getting them in so a beautiful sanctuary thank God for where we go to church thank God that we are here in a building and we finish this to thank God for all that but we didn't build this building just to impress people from our community we built this place so people can come into these pews up and get get the Holy Ghost and get baptized in Jesus name so people can get their lives turn around but they can come to a God class there's five and the lame man gave heat unto them expecting to receive something of them then Peter said here's the first wheel of silver and gold have I none but such as I have give IV in the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth rise up and I'm gonna come back to the such as I have Parker's we love to preach that but I don't know how many times I believe I counted if I counted right 29 times in the New Testament Jesus is called Jesus Christ of Nazareth and I just believe I don't know how many Jesus's were walking around on earth during that time I don't know there there must have been more than just Jesus Christ of Nazareth or they went ahead to keep saying that but apparently Peter wanted to make sure this is Jesus the Christ from Nazareth I want to make sure you understand who I'm talking about here and now listen Jesus society when you're introduced from a place it's usually because it's some great important place but Nazareth was not in any important place matter of fact it was Jesus came straight from obscurity nobody even knew I believe it's the Samuel this can any good thing come from Nazareth but I just believe somewhere in my mind I just believe that Peter and child were trying to help out that crippled man and say listen this Jesus that I'm about to heal you with the name that I'm about to call over you this same Jesus you know he didn't have any great reputation he didn't have a great last name he wasn't from some great city some great town he was from just a little town called Nazareth but let me tell you something the name of Jesus is the name above every other name the name oh my god I'm gonna have a praise break in this place because the Holy Ghost was inside Peter it's all about the name you've been given you may be seated but the challah can I have just a little bit more microphone my voice is given quickly it's that same Holy Ghost I already possess exactly what look at verse 7 and they took him by the right hand and lifted him up and immediately his feet and ankle bones received strength and he leaping up stood and walked and entered with them into the temple walking listen to this walking leaping and praising God for the chair that sounds like you he's already circled it he's already got his circle my god I listened you for the chair let me tell you something you get me caught you get me so riled up during a worship service because I look at you and I've got a pretty good idea once you come out and I see what you're coming in for the channel take it taking a burst further and all the people saw him walking and praising God and you also gave those people they said they came running the Bible says they came running from all sides of that temple and they knew it was the lame man who had been lame from birth and they said what miracle is this how could this be taking place and Peter and John took advantage to say we're gonna be able to preach the same message we preach on the day of Pentecost and the Bible says that 5000 work under this that Jesus was the Christ such as ahead o you maybe see that I already possess her exactly what I need stop searching for something you already have you gotta just inside look in the mirror the spiritual mirror say such as I have such is I have the devil not so make me give up the devil wants to make me give in the devil wants to make me think that there's no hope but my God's voice is bigger than the voices that are speaking inside of your mind not God's voice is bigger yes with me there's nothing impossible there are no impossibilities when my spirit is with you I wonder what would happen if the body of Christ stop if we understood that the plan of salvation was so much more than just getting us to heaven we preach it listen we preach is so often and we gotta preach it it's the plan of salvation we gotta preach it but sometimes we get stuck all the plan of salvation is is the birth it's not graduating us into anything it's just us being born into the kingdom of God but God said I'm not gonna lead you powerless I'm gonna put something inside of you that gives you power and authority such as have it reminds me of a story in 2nd Kings chapter 4 it one of my very favorite Old Testament stories I just believe that you already possess exactly what you mean it's this woman this woman I don't have time to read it read it for homework but this woman her husband has died and apparently her husband's death has left the family in a financial ruin I don't know why they borrowed I don't know where they borrow I don't know if they build a house I don't know what they did but when he died they were left in financial ruin and the Bible says the creditors were coming to take her son's captive and turn them into bond slaves they were gonna have to work the rest of their life in order to pay off their daddy's debt and when it seemed all hope was lost the man of God the Prophet came to town and the Prophet said what's wrong and this poor widow woman told him so the creditors are coming they're about to take my boys they're gonna be Oh help me I do and the Prophet said this very thing he said what do you possess what is it that God can use for a miracle and and look it look at 2nd Kings for two hungry one verse because I love it he said what can I do for you tell me what hast thou and she said on handmade hath not anything in the house except a pot of oil Oh hold it girls come on me right here because oil always represents anointing and anointing has always been demonstrated with Holy Ghost power and this widow woman she simply said in the spiritual she said I don't have anything except a little bit of anointing and the Prophet said that's all we need he said you taught you've got the substance needed for your miracle listen she could have said I've got some talent I'm really good at playing this 10 string instrument or she could have said you know I got a lot of popularity and social status in the community but she didn't say any of those things she simply said I've got just a pitcher of anointing oil she said such as I have this is all I've got but I willing to give it towards the miracle and there's nothing listen Church I've told you this before but this is how I really feel there's nothing that I personally desire more in my ministry than having the anointed of God upon my life brother cream I don't kit listen I don't care this there's there's singers a time a dozen that can sing better than me there's choir breakers a time a dozen they can't read choirs better than me there's preachers that get preached far far far better than me but my prayer is if I can just have the anointing of God in my life it won't matter what notes I sing it won't matter what I preach because people will be saved people will be changed because of the anointing that's in my life I just want a little bit of oil a little God give me your anointing more than anything else that's the biggest compliment you could give me my wife and I we we've been we've been honored to be asked to be a featured artist on an honor on a cruise called praise at sea for last couple years I want you to know there's better singers than me I don't go in there thinking I'm the best I don't even care but what gets told to me it gets told to my wife more off than anything my god your sang was so annoyed give me something in my life that anything that I say it molds and makes and changes in real ranges anything that I sing I'm a crack when I try to hit high notes I may not be able to hit any low notes I miss my lyrics and mess up the song but as long as you can say I felt the anointing when you were singing my life was changed when you were singing that's what I want to hear because there's nothing that I desire more than the anointing of God come on if you feel there what a chisel of the Lord my God if you're a Sunday school teacher in this place I don't care I don't care what kind of orator you are if you have anointing those children are gonna learn if you're a youth worker and you're teaching a Bible study if you have anointing lives are going to be changed we should go after college we should be after the anointing you maybe see what you need you've already got you already possess it oh my god we heard we heard a masterpiece pastor haven't preached this morning what but a masterpiece I just want to take just a little commercial break just for a moment because when this prophet when he asked the woman what do you have in your house what do I have in my house that God can use come on I appreciate some of you new commerce they just received the Holy Ghost and you think the Holy Ghost is just cool because now you speak another language you've never spoken before but I want to know what is in your house huh what's in your temple the Bible says what know you not that your body is the temple of the Holy Ghost what is in your temple what's in your house that God can use that God can speak through you oh my god I just believe there's Bible study teachers in this house I'm gonna prophetically speak a word right now I believe there's Bible study teachers they're gonna win hundreds to the kingdom of time I didn't say five or ten I believe there's hundreds out there that are looking for a Bible study teacher they've been reading they don't understand what does this mean I keep on reading acts and I just don't know what it means in my local church we don't read the book of Acts what does it mean and I believe that there's bomb study teachers that are gonna be raised up in this church and you are gonna win hundreds to the Lord because if we're gonna have revival needs the last days we got a multiple there can't be brother Graham I like it there can't be any more addition brother Namie we can't win no more addition we gotta start multiplying we gotta start adding the church with multiplication and not just the tisha who we thought I'd take a commercial break because it passed for him and preach the masterpieces or how about a coin there was a lost in a house and if you've never been filled with holding up see how much you'll notice tonight is your night if you've never spoken in another tongue as the evidence of receiving the gift of the Holy Ghost I just believe that you're gonna clean house your he preached about repentance this morning you're gonna sweep the house you're gonna get rid of the stuff that's hiding the power it wants to live inside of you and you're gonna begin to sweep your house and that's repentance but then the plan of salvation Peter began to preach in Acts chapter 2 he said repent first but then he said you gotta be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of your sins that's what about that's when the name listen closely that's when the name of Jesus is applied to our lives and we're no longer slaves but we become sons and daughters of God what a baptism is our adoption into the body of Christ and that's where we get our authority when the name is applied to our life that's why there's people out there listen I don't throw off of them because the Holy Ghost is a Revelator it's an Enlightenment you're gonna see things when you
