it is a privilege of lying to be here to talk to you for a little bit tonight and uh I do count it high honor thank Pastor for putting his confidence there because but one of the things it's one one of my favorite subjects is talking about we humans and what we can do for the kingdom of God I it's amazing how that when we walk through the Bible and we look at what took place in in the Old Testament as well New Testament and how that these men and women did things for the kingdom of God and with such power and there was such a an anointing that backed them why because they were obeying what the spirit said and we're going to be for the next few weeks we will be studying about uh spiritual gifts and your Ministries uh that involved there and I know that last year we taught from this and I do have things that you'll see that will be mirrored from last year but at the same time I really feel like that God is gearing us to flow in a different direction with this this year um you say well how can that be that we're going to go a different direction because we have because I I know this that the word of God is alive and it's constantly flowing so I have no worries about that and I know that God will have a fresh word for us amen amen so I want to I want to start off by just saying that each and every one of us and we're going to be talking tonight about the gifts of the spirit but tonight's subtitle I want to use this our god-given gifts each and every one of us you all everybody say me say I have gifts well let me ask you this do you know what it is I hope so I hope that you have some directions and hopefully by the end of this we will uh we'll give you something that you can work on as a person and again kind of gives you something to use to help you along the way discover some of those gifts because each and every one of you that are here as well as online you have gifts you have things that you can do for the kingdom of God say Amen or o me yeah there's a few old maze because you know that there are things that you need to be doing for the kingdom of God Amen so I want to start off with this and and if you would turn with me to Ephesians the second chapter Ephesians the second chapter verse 10. Ephesians the second chapter verse 10 and they may I don't know if they've I I think King James is what we're going to use I had some NIV stuff and they told me they didn't have that up there I was like well uh we we've got different others but they didn't have it so if you see some things vary in some of the scriptures that we read tonight that's the reason why uh I just sometimes I my uh simple brain likes those uh those things I can understand but Ephesians the second chapter of verse 10 the scripture says here and this is Paul's writing to the church at Ephesus he says for we are his workmanship everybody say workmanship created in Christ Jesus unto good works everybody say Good Works which God hath before ordained that we should walk in them so that means not just one but multiple right that we walk in them and the scripture mentions the this this that there is a workmanship that that God has put together there is something that God has when he created you in the beginning God created God made Heaven he made Earth he made man he created he created it all so you are created by God how many of you would admit to me and I don't ask for you to stand and raise your hand but you would say there has been times in your life when you just did not know what you were doing yeah you just didn't know what was what I what is it that I need to be doing what what is it that I should be doing and in each and every one of us there are things that you are able to do for the kingdom God has created you and he made you and he says this this workmanship that he put together this creation that he put together you look at the word workmanship and it basically means and this is what I did I'm not going into the Greek so don't worry we're not going to try to stumble through that but it references to a masterpiece a work of art is you are created by God and you are created individually how many of you know that as an artist does his work that when he draws or when he creates or sculptures those are specific and there there's not another one like it now you can go and run a copy of it they've got digital printers out there now and 3D printers that you could just take and copy it but the truth is if you have an original if there is an original painting or original sculpture it is there and it's created by the master and nobody it's worth more than any any any copy out there God has created each and every one of you individual you you you there is not another one like you praise God thank you Jesus however you can say Amen to that there's not another one like you and so in that though God put he put things in you he put abilities in you he put some things inside of you that you are capable of doing that no one can do it like you and I've heard this and I've probably been guilty of saying it well I know that one can do it a little better you ever heard that maybe said that well that one could probably you know I I don't know about myself but I know so-and-so's can can I do a little bit of a reprimand here stop saying that don't say that when you understand who your creator is and what he's done in you have you ever thought about the grace of God and what he's done for you the things that I mean he's allowed you to continue in this earth doing things that that he's given you the ability to do there's no one like you and so he's created and you say well what are we getting into this gifts and we're going to get there we've got to get the foundation first I want you to know Who You Are in the eyes of God there's no one like you and he was so mindful of you that he's placed you and he's placed the ones around you I want you to look around you right now did you know that God already understood and he already had this all planned out he had he had everybody that is in your life right now he's putting this picture together he's molding this and he's he's making this and he's he's those people and and again there's things and people that he takes away from you you know what that's okay because God understands he knows what he's doing and when we understand who he is then we should it should be that we're easily understanding Who We Are but still yet there's some of us that don't understand it they that we don't know who we are we need to start practicing What We Are Who We Are making it clear I'm a Child of God and listen to what the spirit says to you listen to what the spirit is telling you God has given gifts to each of us and he's done that strategically the scripture we just read says you're a masterpiece he said he created a masterpiece he put all of this together do you know that those limps that you have and those things that we call those variances in our life those things that we're not we say we're well we put a label on it and say you know it's a handicap the truth is we've done that God knows who needs to be in your life and he knows that we call them handicaps but he calls them blessed I'm not here trying to just puff you up tonight I want you to know who you are because in the eyes of God I want you to think about this the things that we call Less in our own lives God's really wanting to say could you just say blessed could you just say blessed instead of less so I ask you again this this afternoon or this evening who are you Who Who Are You God puts everything in motion he knows exactly what he's doing he has put things in individual lives that will affect those around you and affect the world we have a church here CAC family and God is he's put people in the CAC family that is capable of doing great things even online he's put people in our lives that if we really got to the root of everybody's ability there's no telling what could happen I I've asked Seth to to read a portion of scripture and he because he's got that booming voice you know I've asked him to read six verses now mind you he may not pronounce him like Alexander scorby but I've asked him to go to Exodus the 31st chapter through these six verses I want you to listen this is the word of the Lord came to Moses and I want you to listen to what this is saying pray for me bro Drive now you know I know we had a lot of crazy names there but this word came to Moses and the word says Hey I've put this guy I've chosen this guy now Moses has got all these people that he's leading and Moses is trying his best to find time to build a tabernacle he says we've got to build a place for the Lord and God spoke to Moses and says I've got this guy and I've poured into him the spirit of God and I have I have given him wisdom I've given him understanding I've given him knowledge I've given him all of these tools and God is telling Moses I want you to use this guy because he's going to help you say what's this have to do with me I'm I'm going to get there foreign Moses is getting a word from God how many of you really struggle with when when God starts using other people and it's like God you're not talking to me are you not using me and you're using somebody else to tell me that you know I could have got that in prayer Lord you could have you could have showed me how to do that that's that's not the purpose of what was going on here God is trying to talk to Moses and sometimes I think God works through through our leaders sometimes and I I can say this because I I were willing foreign but sometimes we we think we can do it by ourselves sometimes we think that we can manage it by ourselves sometimes we think we can we can pull all the right strings and and make it happen and the truth is God has chosen people among God's people to do certain things he's poured into this man and this man has got a son and he's got this boy over here and he's got this young man over here and he's able to get a hold of this one you know what this one over here has got a trailer and it you see what I'm getting at is that there there are things that God begins to deal with and he puts people in our lives may I tell you CAC that God is putting together and if we would learn to use the spirit the gifts that God has given us if you would learn to use some of the gifts that are stored up inside of you that he would he would put things together and he would make things happen for you all you have to do is say you know what I'm not able to do this by myself but I know a friend of a friend of a friend of a friend I knew this Elder that I grew up around and and at any time I got around him I knew I was going to have to work just simply because that was just his character but he was a missionary for a while then he retired back came back to my hometown and I got to spend time with him but all the reports and everybody that would would talk about him would say you know what that man can build a church and I started watching him one day he had retired and he had bought him a house on on one of the local streets there and and uh I watched how he would go to this business and talk to this one and he would sit and drink coffee with him and then he'd go over here and drink coffee with them and he made his rounds and then and then you know what but a few months later he was going back to that same place he was drinking coffee for the last couple of months and he said hey man you know I need to do this and hey I need to do this and before long he had a he had a broom built on the back of his house because he had made he'd made the connections that he needed to make he had a gift in him that he was able to organize people and bring people together and he had this god-given gift that he he could lead people and you know what he found people that had god-given gifts that had the ability to strike a hammer and then he found somebody else that was able to get him a deal on some of his Lumber I know this sounds very simple tonight but I want to make sure that we understand who we are every person in here every person under the sound of my voice has gifts that God has given you you have got to step out and start using what God has given you I know several of you that are in this room that are excellent photographers seen some of your pictures it it I I know that sounds simple but but what are we doing with our talents what what are we doing with what God has given us God spoke to Moses and he said hey I've got a guy that that Tabernacle that that you're wanting to build he's good with with gold and silver he's good with making a structure and he's good with his hands he's good with what he does and before the end of the chapter I I encourage you going to 36th chapter if you'll read through that it paints this pretty picture of how that these men come together and they built such a tabernacle that was such a beautiful place because there was a man that God put in his heart and said hey go talk to that man because he's got the ability to do this each and every one of you that sat here today you've got God given gifts God's given you abilities to do things for its Kingdom would you look at this Proverbs the 16th chapter verse 3. commit to the Lord whatever you do and I this is the NIV and I know that she's got the KJV there whatever you do commit it to the Lord whatever you're going to do and it will be successful you want success in your life make sure you put God first take your abilities bring them to an altar and pray over them I I want to give you a little bit of homework and we're not through I just want to go ahead and give you a little bit of homework I want you to take a sheet of paper or or your phone I know we're away from paper now so take take paper out of the picture take your little Notepad on your notes in your phone make a list of things that you do now I know there's some of you probably you say well someone's son can do it better than I can I'm not I'm not don't compare yourself right now don't put yourself up beside somebody else I want you to take notes and I want you to make a list of the things and and we'll probably have tests next week but make a list of things that you do that you're that you can do and that there's nothing wrong with saying that I do it pretty good I want you to make a list of those things because as we study for the next few weeks we're going to begin to talk about some things some of the gifts of spirit of the spirit of that God has put in US those things that and and we're going outside of the fifo ministry I want you to understand that we're going to be looking at things that is connected to filefold Ministry but there's going to be things that you're that you can do I'm going to show you how this thing works and how we put this together everything that you do do as unto the Lord you want to see God's glory on something bring it to him bring your abilities God aligns your abilities to his what he wants done so if you're not getting anywhere with some of the things that you're trying to do go realign yourself with God take it back to an altar and say hey God you know I I know I do this well but what is it that I'm supposed to be doing with it are you doing it unto the Lord are you doing it with the right attitude with the right Spirit are you doing it out of the out of your heart instead of just because you can because there's a lot of things we do and it's simply because that's what we have to do you know God will not bless that he only blesses things that is done unto him foreign God help us that we align our lives with you in and I know I'm skipping around here folks upstairs I'm sorry Matthew the 26 25th chapter Matthew 25th chapter we find the story we we have oftentimes talked about uh this Parable but I'd like for us to look at it again Matthew the 25th chapter verse 14. and Jesus he begins this Parable by saying that the Kingdom of Heaven is likened to travel traveling a man traveling that he's going to a foreign country and he calls to his servants and he brings his servants in and and he says I I've got some things I need to go do and he says I've got talents that I need to give out verse 15 he got he gives five to one he gives two to another and he gives one to one one of the others and he takes his journey then he comes back again that he hasn't returned yet but he's getting ready to come back and and all of these guys that's given five two and one one of them the fifth one goes and the one that's got five he goes and he's doing his thing because he's he's talented right he's got abilities he's got he's got what it takes what does he do with five he multiplies it then the one that had two he's got a talent again I go back to never ever take yourself and put yourself up against somebody else because you just don't know what God has dropped into your hands he's not giving you sometimes he may not give you five things to do maybe he's just giving you one thing to do and whatever that one thing is that God gives you to do do it well the one that had two what'd he do he multiplied and the scripture says that the one that had one Talent he gets all nervous he goes and hides it digs a spot he's nervous he's he's worried because why because it's the Lord excuse me for saying this dummy that's why he get it's the Lord that gave it to you and if the Lord gives you something to do may I tell you that God lays things on our hearts sometimes and if you don't do them Oh Me Oh My God I don't want to be in your shoes I learned a long time ago that when God put something on your heart you you better get up I mean jump to attention and say all right gotta do it no if ands or buts I got to do it and you'll find that you're blessed the parable goes on and and the ruler comes back the master comes back and he says he says well what have you done let me see what you've done of course one that had five he comes out yeah I I had five you gave me these These are yours and and there's the five that uh that I added to it look at there and what'd he say Well done you've done a good job he wasn't asking the one next to him the one that had two how did he do no he's asking you the one that had two he asked him directly he says so would you what'd you accomplish gave me two I went and done this this and this got two more good job then he goes to the one that had one he said what'd you do he said Lord I was scared half to death didn't know what to do and he calls him a fool why because he had given him one task to do and he felt inadequate he felt like that he couldn't do anything he felt like that I just don't know what to do and the Lord calls him a fool folks don't don't get hung up in this who's doing what don't don't get caught up in what what their talents may be and what their talents may be and what theirs is in what's mine don't get caught up in that because you you just don't know where that person is and what they may be going through with what God's laid on their heart you know I I know this that that I don't want to carry Another Man's Burden I don't want to be put under his load because the truth is God knows exactly what I'm capable of handling and if I get under somebody else's load is not mine and I'm wearing myself out and then it comes my time to do what I'm supposed to be doing what what have I accomplished well God I went and helped this guy but I didn't have time to do what I was supposed to do hello Who Who Are You and and what are you supposed to be doing for the kingdom of God for the next little bit we're going to be uh next few weeks we're going to be talking about some things we need to do and I want us to remember this and and these three things is what I want us to do I want you to assess your abilities and the gifts that God has given you I've asked you to make a list just jot it down that you you need to assess those find out exactly what they are do they give you Romans 13 12 and 2. I don't remember if I did or not Romans 12 and 1 says I beseech you therefore Brethren by the mercy of God that you present your bodies a Living Sacrifice holy acceptable unto God which is your reasonable service your reasonable service assess those things that God has given you look at where you are and what you're supposed to be doing take note of those things God has given you these abilities once you've done that I want you to bring them to the altar we're going to have time to pray over these things in the next few weeks but I want you to I want you to sanctify them once you have prayed over them we're going to take and sharpen them the Bible teaches us and I think it's in Deuteronomy and I I it passed through my brain and it went so fast that I didn't have time to write it down but I think it's in the book of Deuteronomy it talks about iron that is not sharpened understand this and Bible quizzers could probably tell me exactly where that's at but you can take you can be successful with dull iron but what does it do you know where it's at I won't tell pastor but you can be successful with dull iron but what do you have to do you have to work harder yeah you have to really how many you've ever has anybody ever used an ax a few of you assistant cat to use the next but you if it's dull he's gonna take a lot of work but if you get a good sharp ax it's so much easier and that's why I I say let's let's do inventory of where we are I want you to write down I want you to jot down what you what you're capable of doing let me put it that way because some of you still not there yet but you're capable of doing it and you've got the ability to do it you may not have convinced yourself you can do it but you capable of doing it once you've done that we're going to sanctify we're going to pray over and ask God that that he take these gifts that we have and that God that whatever we use these gifts toward let me tell you something I I know this I have been blessed abundantly over the years with with grandmas in the church that make wonderful cookies and cakes and I'm talking some of that that nobody else can make life you ever done that yeah you ever had one of those said they can't make tamales like this but this lady can uh-huh you see there are there are god-given gifts that people have and that's not just what we're talking about here because there's some other things that goes with this this is just finding Where You Are and what God has given you the ability to do we're going to assess them we're going to look at them then we're going to take them to an altar and we're going to ask God I want you to take these this ability that you've given me and I want you to to bless it and and I want to do it for your kingdom and For Your Glory there's some of you that could I could name off a uh a couple of digits and you could probably figure those up just like that I can't do that again a little bit but but you could do it real quick God's given you abilities he's given you abilities to to be some of those people that that help manage things in the church he's given you abilities just to be that person that that cleans that window back there and I know you're you're saying how is that yeah that's part of gifts that God gives us sounds simple don't it but if you'll do it unto the Lord ask God to bless those gifts foreign we start sharpening those gifts we start we start working those gifts and trying to do better at those gifts why because I'm doing this unto the Lord I'm doing this for the kingdom of God I I want I want to make Heaven one days yeah it may be one Talent don't hide it don't take it and hide it away somewhere say God I'm going to do this and I'm going to do it to my best God's given you some things in your life I don't have to go digging some of you have actually shown it you've got the ability to bring just by stepping into a a group of people you start you bring happiness to the to the place you just have that ability to smile and bring bring peace into the room you've got the ability to just you love on somebody and and it's like all the problems go away God's given you those abilities and have watched people that walk in and they I know they have that that gift that God's given them and they walk in and they walk straight to a chair and sit down and wait till the service is over just to get up and walk back out and has not used what God has given you the gifts are and we'll talk about this next week but the gifts are what does it get what does the gifts do they edify they edify the church they bring they bring that alive in people and they they help the the church they help the brothers and sisters in the in the church that's what they're for how many times you walk by somebody that just needed a hug I know Cove is scared all of you I still believe that sometimes you just need a hug right even us Brothers just need a hug right use what God has given you please don't hide the abilities that God's given you please don't throw them away please don't walk away from what God has given you because God has given you these abilities for a reason first Peter the fourth chapter verse 10. we'll read this one and we'll we'll come to a close first Peter 4 verse 10. somebody read that for me the scripture says as good stewards right every man is has received a gift and we're to use that whatever God has given you no we're not sitting here we're not going to read yours off next week and call you out no I'm not going to do that but but God has given you abilities I know this that we have we have a passage that's ready for you to engage his office is right down that Hall to the left all the way to the end and he would gladly pick you up on whatever whatever you feel that you want to do for the kingdom of God in that right sister Kathy and sometimes he'll call you out on it too foreign why because the church needs to be edified the church needs to be lifted up did you know that I need you as well you need me that one sat next to you they need you that's a part of Who We Are I know it sounds like we're needy people but yes we are we are we need one another we need the kingdom of God working in unity we'll talk about the body of Christ next week we'll talk about some of the functions of the body of Christ but I need us to understand who we are we are created by God we are a masterpiece we are we are formed like he wants us to be he's given us gifts in each and every one of us and he's placed them inside of you and he's given you those gifts for a reason don't ever compare your your gift to somebody else's because I they'll tell you the next one beside them will tell you I do my best you do your best and you know who wins this is all about the kingdom of God would you stand with us I hope that I've said something that will bring some light to you today and maybe help us to understand who we are going to be talking more and more about the gifts the next few weeks but I want us to understand that those gifts are already here they're already in you it's time for us to tap into those gifts and get to where we need to be in Christ I'm just going to ask you just just talk to the Lord about these things God help me to develop that gift that you've given me there's some of you that are here you already can name them right now you know what you can do God help us to develop help me to do it your way amen won't you lift your hands with us right now thank you Jesus thank you Lord for your word I thank you Lord for each and every one that is in this room God help us to develop and do the things that you have called us to do that you created us to do Lord those gifts that you have inside of each and every one of us that we use them for your kingdom For Your Glory for the things that you have planned in our lives God the things that you want done here in Chattanooga God that we do our best and we do it do we do it unto you Lord you give us strength you give us the wisdom you give us the knowledge you give us the understanding God we can't do it without you we know that nothing can be done without you God help us to develop what we have God and unto your glory god Hallelujah God we thank you we thank you Lord would you give him praise right now thank you Jesus thank you Jesus hallelujah it's for your glory god it's for your glory god in the name of Jesus in the name of Jesus God bless you today I hope that something's been said that may may help you along the way let's remember Sunday don't forget Sunday service bring somebody to church with you let's pray somebody through to the Holy Ghost amen God bless you in Jesus name
