We will begin reading at verse number one, first Samuel chapter one beginning at verse number one again to my pastor, pastor David Meyer, sister Amy, my love and appreciate so very much. And I'm always honored to be trusted to stand behind this pulpit. It's never something that I take lightly. I love and appreciate them and their whole family. Aren't we thankful for our pastor? Amen. Praise God. Didn't brother Blackman do such a wonderful job today as well. Amen. Leading these services. Amen. Praise God. First Samuel. East wind is blessed with ministry. So many great ministries. Amen. First Samuel chapter one beginning at verse number one. Now there was a certain man of Remathaim, Zophim of Mount Ephraim, and his name was Elkana, the son of Jeraham, the son of Elihu, the son of Tohu, the son of Zohaph, and Ephrathite. There's some names in that first verse. My Lord. Woo. It's a good thing I let audio Bible tell me how to say all of that before I go. Verse number two, and he had two wives. The name of one was Hannah and the name of the other was Panina and Panina had children, but Hannah had no children and this man went up out of the city yearly to worship and to sacrifice under the Lord of host and Shiloh and the two wives of or the two sons of Eli, Hophni and Phineas, the priests of the Lord were there and when the time was come that Elkana offered, he gave to Panina his wife and to all her sons and her daughters portions. But when he got to Hannah, he gave Hannah a worthy portion, a worthy portion, for he loved Hannah, but the Lord had shut up her womb and her adversary also provoked her sore for to make her fret because the Lord had shut up her womb and as he did so year by year when she went up to the house of the Lord, so she provoked her. Therefore she wept and did not eat and Elkana, her husband said in her, Hannah, why are you crying? Why aren't you eating? And why is your heart grieved? Am I not better to thee than 10 sons? Hannah was the bride of a man that favored her. Her groom loved her, cherished her. However, she was frustrated outside of this favor because she was not fruitful. She had no children. I'm going to preach to you tonight on this simple subject favored, but frustrated. Would you set your Bibles down and would you lift your hands all over this house one more time? And would you ask that God would anoint me to deliver this clearly, anoint you to hear the word of the Lord and that he would bless the remainder of this service with the mighty move of the Holy Ghost. We're not here in vain. Lord, we love you. We thank you for your word. I thank you, God, for this wonderful opportunity to join together with the body of Christ and break the bread of life open to take God. Anoint me and use me for the glory of your kingdom, Lord. Let the power of the Holy Ghost fall in this house, God. Lord, we're not here just to be here, God. I know some, Lord, we come truly out of obedience, Lord, but we're here for more than that. We're here because we're hungry for a move of the Holy Ghost. Lord, in a world of uncertainty, we know that you're a certain God. Hallelujah, Jesus. Let's just worship him a little while longer. The presence of the Lord is in this house right now. Hallelujah, Jesus. Hallelujah, Jesus. Hallelujah, Jesus. Glory to God. Glory to God. Glory to God. Amen. Amen. Amen. You may be seated in Jesus' name. The Bible deals in typology or shadows and types. It uses Old Testament imagery to teach us principles of which you and I are living out today. If you have ever sought search for truth, you know that one of its sayings is that the Old Testament is the New Testament concealed and the New Testament is the Old Testament revealed. And so the Old Testament gives us pictures. It gives us types. It gives us shadows that point to something that is going to come to life in the New Testament. We understand that the rock that followed Israel in the desert that gave them that sustaining water, that rock according to the New Testament was Christ. And how many of you know that when you come to Christ, you're going to drink of living water and it'll sustain you in any desert. It'll sustain you in any wilderness. It'll sustain you at any point of life because Christ was that rock. We know that typologies, we see that God uses things like they were baptized unto Moses in the cloud and in the sea. And that was an Old Testament imagery of New Testament where Jesus would look at Nicodemus and tell him, except you are born again of water and of spirit. No man can enter into the kingdom of God. It was that Old Testament shadow and type that would reveal to you and I, you must be baptized in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ for the remission of your sins and you must be filled with the gift of the Holy Ghost with the evidence of speaking and an unknown tongue. The Bible teaches us these principles. One of the ones that I love that the Old Testament shows us is the image of the bride. The bride is something that scripture focuses on. It's something that scripture teaches us. You think of the very first marriage. You have to go back to Adam and Eve. When he looks at Adam and says, it's not good for man to be alone. And what does he do? He makes Adam a help meat. He pulls from his side a help meat and he takes her away and he brings her unto Adam. And in this first moment you look at a bride and a groom coming together. You see the first image of Christ and the church looking at one another. You see Isaiah teaches us in Isaiah 54 and 5, for thy maker is thine husband. The Holy Lord of Host is his name. And thy redeemer, the Holy One of Israel, the God of the whole earth shall he be called. This imagery begins to teach us that as you see people like Abraham and Sarah, you begin to see people like Jacob and Rebecca. All of these pictures, all of these, or Jacob and Rachel, all of these pictures, they begin to teach us the picture of Christ and the church. Even in the book of Ephesians, Paul, he goes into great extent in teaching us what it looks like, how it's supposed to operate Christ and the church. And he brings this imagery by teaching us husbands and wives. And he goes into great extent. It's somewhere around six or seven verses of him teaching us husbands and wives. Wives, submit yourselves to husbands. Husbands, the image of what you're supposed to do for your wife is how Christ gave himself for the church. And he ends it all by saying, this is a great mystery, but I speak concerning Christ and the church. And so this imagery of a bride and her groom, this typology, comes to life that you and I here today, we are not just an ordinary church. We are not just simply a gathering of people, but you and I are a bride that is being prepared for her groom. We are more than just people that come to the house of God and we clap our hands, but we are the bride of Christ and the friend of the bridegroom, our pastor and the men of God that he brings to this pulpit are those friends of the bridegroom that tell us this is what your groom likes and you're getting ready to meet him and we see things like the marriage supper of the lamb. We see all of these pictures, all of these things that teach us that you and I are being prepared for a great day where the groom and the bride will come together and we will spend eternity with our savior. And so you have to understand that as we learn that as the bride and the groom come together he says in the very first marriage, this is now flesh of my flesh, bone of my bone and that when a husband and a wife come together he was trying to tell you that you're no longer two entities but now you're one entity. You're no longer two separate things, you're one thing that comes together and these two shall become one flesh and so you and I must understand that's why it's so important that the church does not have discord or disunity within it because why we might think that we are one member a part of one local assembly what you have to understand is is that it's really one large pride. You are a part of the church that's on the other side of the world that preaches this message and practices this truth and we don't have time to allow the bride to begin to turn on itself. You can't separate your head from your body just like you can't separate Christ from the church and so when you begin to damage the body you begin to hurt the head when you begin to gossip and you begin to lie and you begin to hurt a brother or a sister in reality you've got to understand you're hurting yourself just like it's not wise for me to take a knife and cut myself why it would hurt me it's not wise for you to come against a brother or come against a sister that's why Christ said if you have ought against your brother and you come to the altar with a gift it's better for you to leave the gift and go make it right because that gift will not be taken up and your petition will not be granted until there's unity again with the body friend we have to realize we are one flesh in this house I need you and you need me and we have to understand that this is no ordinary bride I love the picture that comes out in our text that Hannah was a bride that had the favor of her groom though she could offer him nothing you've got to see this you've got to see this picture of Hannah she couldn't give him any sons she couldn't give him any daughters she had no fruit however Alcona loved her in spite of her inability to give him sons and daughters you might say that she was a favored bride you could say that this bride had the favor of her husband upon her in spite of the fact she had done nothing to deserve it in that time if she did not give him a son or a daughter after a certain time period he had legal grounds to divorce her or take another wife what was he trying to show you he was trying to say that I love you in spite of your inability to give me anything I love you just for the relationship that you bring me I love you just for the communion that you bring me friend can I tell you if there's ever been a picture of the church Hannah's the picture of the church we couldn't give him anything we were Gentiles we were a fruitless people and however he loved us and he died for us and he gave himself for us why so that we might have communion and so you see this Hannah this fruitless bride loved and when you really begin to look at it she found the favor of her groom another word for favor is grace favor in the Old Testament is interchangeable with the word grace and grace in the Old Testament is interchangeable with the word favor in fact the word grace simply means unmerited favor it's something that you didn't deserve I feel like preaching right now it's something that you did not earn you had no merits that could bring the grace of God to you but in spite of that Christ died for the church you have to see this because he tells her am I not better to thee than ten sons you have to really understand how valuable sons were in that time when that widow woman had lost her husband and the creditors were coming two sons could have paid off all of her debt and sent her free so when Alcona said am better to you than ten sons he had blessed her he had favored her he had shined upon her and in spite of her inability to give him anything he loved her and he favored her and he gave her everything he wanted and so you and I here today we have to see this picture beginning to come off of the pages because you and I were the Hannah am I we did nothing to deserve the grace of God I said we did nothing to deserve the unmerited favor and blessings of God you have to see the purpose of grace the purpose is not just so that you and I can live how we want to live but when he gave us this grace it was grace enough to save he said in Ephesians 2 and 5 even when we were dead in sins hath quickened us together with Christ watch by grace ye are now watch what the purpose of grace is are you ready not for us to live how we want to live and do what we want to do but hath raised us up together and made us to sit together in heavenly places you want to know what grace does it elevates you you need to hear what that just says because we have to get the revelation that the grace of God when it found you you didn't deserve it but it was never meant to leave you where it found you it was meant to elevate you out of your old lifestyle elevate you out of the place you were at into a place with him the purpose of grace the purpose of grace is elevation that's why Noah found grace in the eyes of the Lord and what does Noah do he just starts building an ark he just starts doing what God told him to do in spite of everybody mocking him in spite of everything happening around him he said I've heard a word from God and he builds a boat and he lives a life of obedience and what does grace does it elevates him out out of the corruption out of the death and it brings him to newness of life come on what grace does is it finds you in the corruption elevates you out of it and brings you to newness of life so that you can live a life above sin we didn't deserve this kind of favor you don't deserve this kind of favor I don't deserve this kind of favor nobody deserves this the bible teaches us that a righteous man a righteous man may die for a good man that's a rare thing but for somebody to die for a wretch like me come on somebody that's the kind of grace nobody deserves that's the kind of favor nobody deserves friend God favors his church in spite of where he found you in spite of the sin in spite of the circumstance in spite of the dilemma grace found you somebody ought to thank God for grace in this house this kind of favor doesn't make sense in the same way that it didn't make sense that the Egyptians found favor in the eyes of the very people that held them in bondage the bible says that Israel they were in Egypt and after the Passover I don't have time to explain all of that to you but you gotta see the picture of Jesus the lamb was slain they got the lamb in them and then they walked through a bloodstained door post which is typology of baptism you gotta get in Christ and Christ has gotta get in you come on they walked through the bloodstained door post the blood was supposed to go on the sides and the top not on the bottom, why? nothing goes over the blood it all goes under the blood and then when they got in the house they had to get the lamb in them sounds a little bit like Jesus saying I will be in you you will be in me and we will be in the Father after, after salvation the bible says and they found favor in the eyes of the Egyptians the very people that used to crack the whip the very people that used to say do this, do this, do this and do this those very same people they walked up to them and said I need your purse I need your watch come on I need the gold you got in your house out of nowhere they just started blessing the very people they used to have in bondage that type of favor doesn't make sense friend and that's the type of favor God expects for his people to have it doesn't make sense that while the world is uneasy right now the children of God have peace it doesn't make sense that while everybody else is worried about inflation and jobs and this and that and the other you're saying I'm more blessed than I've ever been that's called grace I don't deserve it you don't deserve it but he saved me and when he saved me he turned my life around you ought to thank God for grace right now you ought to thank God like you're really grateful for the grace and the mercy that found you and redeemed you and saved you come on clap your hands and magnify him worship him for the redeeming lift of grace right now come on come on really worship him like you're grateful favor doesn't make sense and I need you to hear me I know this world is uncertain right now hear me I know I know I know I saw it I've never seen it like I saw it yesterday in Atlanta walking through that airport and every monitor just said sorry error people were just quiet an eerie feeling settling upon the airport and I'm just walking through there like everything's going to be alright come on when you go to work you're going favored when you go to school you're going favored when you step in the middle of turmoil step into it like you know everything's going to be alright you've got the grace of God on your side I don't have time to tell you that worthy portion that Hannah had literally literally means the portion reserved for the firstborn I don't have time to preach to you about the groom not only favored his bride but he also gave that bride the same authority to operate and the same blessing as he would have given a firstborn son come on while you were in sin he saved you come on and he came he came to redeem them that were under the law that you and I might receive the spirit of adoption and because you are sons God has sent forth the spirit of his son into your heart where for you might cry abba father where for thou art no more to servant but a son and if a son then an heir of God through Christ friend when grace found you it didn't just make you as bride it gave you the authority of sonship where you can say in the name of Jesus where you can be an heir a joint heir with Christ Jesus we don't deserve that kind of favor we're a favored church look around here look at this building go look at the cars in the parking lot look at our clothes look at our phones I know you may not have much in your account but you've got more than most oh I always hear we want to go back to the good old days let me tell you something you really don't want to go back to the brush harbor days wouldn't listening strings on a guitar have strung come on this is a favored church look at the chairs we're sitting on look at these screens look at these lights look at this sound system look left and look right we're a blessed people we've got the favor of God dripping off of our fingers east wind we're a blessed body look around you don't have to look more than three seconds to see somebody that's been blessed by God look at your neighbor look at the person across this building even at your worst we're better off than somebody that has not been baptized in the name of Jesus and filled with the gift of the Holy Ghost we're a favored church we're a blessed church come on but I'm about to preach for just a moment Hannah was favored but she was frustrated she had all of the blessing she had all of the authority but something within her said there's God to be more God didn't save us so that our clothes would just get nicer and I'm thankful for I think if anybody ought to be blessed God's people ought to be blessed I think if anybody ought to live in a nice house God's people ought to live in a nice house I think if anybody ought to have a nice car God's people ought to have a nice car you have a hard time showing me in the Bible where God's people were poor and beggars they were a blessed people it is the will of God for us to be blessed but we weren't supposed to stop at favor God help me tonight Hannah had all of the blessing Hannah had the worthy portion that should have went to Panina's first born son Hannah was a bride whom her husband favored with such intensity that it was like 10 sons unto her she was a blessed bride but she was frustrated because she was not fruitful and I can't tell you how many people I talked to that say boy God's good and I'm blessed but there's something inside of me that says there's got to be more I feel like I'm preaching to somebody's heart right now you say God has blessed me but I just feel deep in my spirit God's got something more come on you've seen the blessings of God but you know there's more this frustration that we see across and I see it everywhere I go all over the United States I see people that are saying you can see the blessing but there's an irritation in their spirit there's a frustration in their spirit and they begin to fret and they begin to get a little nervous because they know they're meant for more Hannah had favor but she knew she needed to be fruitful Hannah had blessing but she knew she needed to be fruitful if you go through everyday life it seems like everything's normal but I don't find it coincidental that Panina did not bother Hannah the Bible says until Elkhanna her husband turned towards Shiloh until they started moving towards spiritual things then out of nowhere Panina began to provoke Hannah and Hannah began to feel like no God there's got to be something more she began to fret when you're just going through everyday life you can go through it as normal but the moment when conference starts and somebody starts saying we're going to see a mass revival the moment an evangelist or a prophet or a pastor gets behind this pulpit and says you're meant for more you feel the stirring in your soul you feel the quickening in your spirit saying God's got more God's got more there's got to be something more there's meant to be fruitfulness she was favored but she was ready for fruitfulness and this favor caused frustration because while she had everything she had no children God does not mean for us to just come to church and be a favored bride but you hear me in the hour that we are living in he's calling his church to fruitfulness like he never has before and if I might repeat the words of Jesus today and tell you look towards the harvest field I know you say there's four months until there's a harvest but I'm telling you look right now the fields are white and the ripe and the ready he told him he said I've got meat that you know not of there is kingdom nourishment that can only be found on the other side of fruitfulness the frustration caused bitterness in Hannah's soul let me tell you this when you begin to get frustrated there's only one place you can take it don't take it to appear don't take it to another person take the frustration to an altar Hannah took her frustration to an altar and she prayed and she prayed and she prayed until the man of God said she must be drunk in the house of the Lord I know I'm not preaching to everybody tonight but I'm reaching for somebody in this house that has told God I'm meant for more I'm preaching to somebody in this house that has told God there's got to be greater I'm reaching for somebody in this house that has told God I'm thankful for the blessing but I need the anointing I'm thankful for your favor but I'm ready to do something in the kingdom she came to that altar and she prayed and she prayed until something took place the man of God said you're drunk in the house of God and he literally smote her amongst everybody and she said no I'm not a child of the devil I'm not drunk in the house of the Lord I've come today and I've poured my soul out upon this altar and Eli looked at her and said I don't know what you've come seeking but God says go I've given you what you prayed for frustration was not meant to drive you away from God or away from the church or away from the things of God frustration was meant to put you in a posture to birth something in the spirit God help me tonight I don't really have the time tonight to explain it like I want to explain it but you have to understand fruitfulness matters to God fruitfulness matters to God it's not enough for us to just go through life favored God has given everybody here a gift and he wants you to use it in the kingdom of God I don't know if I gave you this verse or not but I'm going to read Romans chapter 12 and I'm going to start at verse number six the Bible says having then gifts differing according to the grace that is given to us whether prophesy let us prophesy according to the proportion of faith or ministry let us wait on our ministry or he that teaches on teaching or exhorteth on exhortation he that giveth let him do it with simplicity him that ruleth which literally means manager he that is a manager let him do it with diligence he that show of mercy do it with cheerfulness next verse go to verse number nine let love be without dissimulation which literally means hypocrisy a bore that which is evil and cleave unto that which was good he was trying to show you that I have given you gifts and I've given you the grace to fulfill the gift that I have given you your favor was not meant just for you to enjoy unmerited favor it was meant for you to operate in the gift that the favor brought let me help you I'm trying to hurry but that word proportion there you have to see that because that word proportion means amount given in relation to another part and so when he said I gave you grace according to the proportion if you're gonna prophesy prophesy if you're gonna give give if you're gonna be cheerful be cheerful these are all gifts and administrations of the body hear me not everybody's called to exhort not everybody's called to preach not everybody's called to teach I'm gonna help you not everybody's called to sing but you're called to something you're called to something I love what he says he says he that rule if you look at that he's literally talking about management maybe you'll never preach but you're gonna be the best manager your company has ever seen why not oh see right there it gets a little tight because we all want to be the one in the microphone hear me God may have called you to be the greatest manager your company has ever seen and that doesn't mean that it's not under the Lord watch that word proportion means in relation to the other so this is what God does he says I'm gonna teach you how to be a ruler I'm gonna teach you how to be somebody that has cheerfulness literally somebody that can like somebody's day up with a smile I'm gonna teach you how to be somebody that can prophesy I'm gonna teach you that can be somebody to work in miracles I'm gonna teach you to be and he says I'm gonna give each of you a gift some have multiple gifts some have one gift but I'm gonna give each of you an operation in the body and I'm gonna do it according to the portion that I gave you now watch that word portion in relation to the next that means for the body to be proportionate now I know everybody here grew normally but I grew a little out of proportion you know what I'm talking about you ever seen somebody and his feet just don't fit the rest of his body that was me it took me 27 years to grow into my feet come on you ever look at something and you're like that's just a little out of proportion for that wall that's too small to be hung there that's too big to be hung there it's out of proportion and so that's the same revelation that he's trying to give he said I've given each of you an ability and I placed you in the body God help me so that you can be fruitful in your gifting and if you do what you're called to do and I do what I'm called to do then the body is well rounded and we can be fruitful hey that's why you've got to quit selling yourself short your smile and joy might just change somebody's life your ability to be a giver just giving somebody something might change somebody's life come on this is what I'm talking about we've become a frustrated people because we see through one lens one lens I know he gave us the fivefold ministry and I have wore this out and I say it as often as I can behind every pulpit I can say it and I know I've said it here before but the purpose of the fivefold ministry is to train you for the work of ministry and you may never be a pastor or an apostle or an evangelist or a teacher or a prophet but what if you are the greatest you this world has ever seen you want to know one of the reasons why we're so frustrated because we're too busy trying to be something God never called us to be we're trying to be this guy and we're trying to be that guy and we're trying to pattern ourselves after what God did not call us to be just because you may never be a preacher or an evangelist or a prophet does not mean you can't be mightily used Steven wasn't any of those things he was just a good boy in the church feeding widows but he still went out in the city streets and did miracle signs and wonders why because he fulfilled his portion in the body Hannah was favored but she was frustrated because she had no fruit and I'm looking at the eyes of some people you're frustrated you told God I know you've got more for me I know you've got a ministry for me I know you've got a gifting for me friend what if your gifting is simply to lift up your hands and exhort in the body what if your come on the culture of the church in the 21st century and in the hour that we are living in and I'm almost done we've got to change the way we view things we've got to change the way we view things hear me I've said it one Christ the bride has got to posture herself in a manner that says I'm not moving I'll tell you bird a ministry in me Hannah did not feel hurt until after she had Samuel how many of you have prayed and felt like God doesn't hear you come on I may be the only one you pray and you're like where are you God come on that was Hannah but watch after after she postures herself to pray until she births something and the promise of God gets answered what does she name her son Samuel UL or which literally means God listens she didn't feel hurt until she became fruitful and one of the reasons we don't feel heard is because we have not become a fruitful part of the body our fruitfulness God is trying to show you I need the church to be the church right now oh Lord help me this is what I find so beautiful after after Hannah has Samuel it begins the second chapter of the book of Samuel and it opens up with Hannah writing this beautiful poem or Psalm unto the Lord and halfway through the Psalm she changes from just a little woman who's doing the best she can pray in with fervency watch all of the sudden she starts prophesying the coming of Christ wait wait wait wait I thought she was just a bride of some random groom no she switches right in the middle of it and begins to prophesy about the coming of Christ because fruitfulness has always been hinged to the prophetic that's why in the last day sayeth God I will pour out my spirit upon all and what happens as a by-product your sons and your daughters shall the prophetic has always been linked to fruitfulness we want to see the prophetic begin to come to pass in our lives and in this city you know what we have to do become a fruitful person in the body I believe I gave you a picture I'm done if I if you have it would you put it up I love telling this story that little girl right there is my niece and I believe I told her here but I'm going to tell it again she was 6 years old in that picture that man she's praying for is my dad I opened the year off in revival with my dad and we begin to preach and come against some things and nothing was breaking open and while nothing was breaking I was standing over the pulpit during the altar call I was leaning over praying and I was asking for God to break this thing open and out of nowhere my little 6 year old niece comes storming across the platform she was over here and her poppy my dad was sitting on the other side of the platform she comes stomping across the platform and normally at that moment I would say [name redacted] get your hide off of the platform right now but I could tell she had a little something different going on [name redacted] is baptized in Jesus name and filled with the gift of the Holy Ghost and she walked across that platform and she walked over to her poppy and she began to pray for him and it started like this Lord bless my poppy, Lord touch my poppy Lord anoint my poppy, Lord use my poppy and then out of nowhere that little 6 year old girl switched from her English into a heavenly language and she began to speak in tongues and she literally laid hands on her poppy and she began to speak in tongues and as she was speaking in tongues the atmosphere in that church began to shake and this little 6 year old as she was speaking in tongues it changed from tongue to interpretation of tongue and she leaned into his ear and she began to tell her poppy things that poppy hadn't even told my mom things he prayed Saturday night this was Sunday night of that revival and hadn't told anybody but Jesus she hadn't, my dad told me after church he said I didn't tell anybody the things she just prayed over me I didn't tell a single person as she began to tell him this and this and this and this and she began to literally interpret his prayer she's 7 years old now but she was 6 in that picture in January and God used her in the tongue an interpretation of tongue why are you telling me this preacher I'm telling you this because it's no longer time for us to keep waiting for a certain man to get behind us and usher in a certain revival we don't have time to keep waiting God needs 6 year olds God needs 60 year olds God needs everybody to become fruitful in this hour you want to know what I think her gifting really is she didn't know any better come on some of us know too good oh God will never use me like that God I don't deserve to be behind this pulpit I don't deserve to be sitting on this platform the grace of God will make a way the grace of God will open the door God doesn't need you to be perfect he just needs you to not know better and say I know what I'm feeling I know what hour the church is in it's time for me to open my mouth and become fruitful stand with me you feel that right there how many times are you going to hit that wall of frustration I feel my help coming right now how many times are you going to hit that same wall that has stopped you from going where God has been trying to bring you into how many times are you going to stop short of doing what God has called you to do how many times are you going to go home frustrated that you know you could have gone one more step well I'm first generation well I'm 10 well I'm 20 well I'm 40 well I'm
