Come on, students, would you lift up your voice right now if you're still thankful that you serve a faithful God? Come on, would you just magnify him for just a moment, God? I am still thankful that you are always right on time. Jesus, the soul must be crying if I were to ascend into the heaven or if I were to make my bed in hell, if I were to take the wings of the morning to go to the uttermost part of the earth. He said, no matter where I go, I come to the conclusion that you are there and all of us tonight have the same testimony that we are here because he was there, that no matter where my there was, God was there and I can step back and say it didn't look like it in the moment but now that I'm beyond it, God, you were right on time. I didn't know how I was going to make it out but you were right on time. Come on, I would just want to encourage the youth here right now, you serve a faithful God. You serve a faithful, old-time God. Amen. If there are some things that you learn in life through teaching and there are some things in life that you learn through time but one thing that you're going to learn through both time and teaching is this, God is faithful. God is so faithful. Anybody know that to be true tonight? I know it's next-gen week but are there any adults that can testify? God is faithful. Amen. Amen, you can make your way to your seats if you would remain standing with me just for a moment, you'll be able to be seated. I understand that most people listen better in a seat rather than on their feet so in just a moment you will be able to be seated but I want to take this opportunity. If you would turn with me to 2 Corinthians chapter number five, very familiar passage of scripture, 2 Corinthians chapter number five and as you were turning there, I want to say what an honor it is to be back. Next-gen week I was here a couple of years ago and had to leave prematurely but I'm believing Lord willing I will be here all the way through Sunday. Amen. But I am so thankful for the opportunity to be back and I believe it would be awesome right now if we could give it up for everybody who makes this week possible. Come on, if you're a thankful youth group right now, every volunteer, everybody serving behind the scenes, the music, the worship team, the AV team, everybody that's been prepping, everybody that's been praying and preparing. I know that a week like this doesn't just happen but there's been a lot of intentionality that has taken place and I want to say a special thank you and it's a huge honor to be here for Pastor Clay and Sister Charlotte's first next-gen week. I love and appreciate your youth pastor. Anybody thankful for great leaders? Amen. Truly a special, special honor to be here. Thank you for trusting me and I am excited for what the Lord is going to do, do their leadership and I know he's already doing great things and I want to give a shout out to all of the pastoral team, to the Bland family, the carpenters and the sausage. I honor all of you and I am so thankful that you were trusting me to be here and I don't take it lightly. And to all of the youth and young adults of this great church, I look forward to a great week. Amen. We're going to have a lot of fun. I look forward to getting to know you, connect with you. I do regret that my family is not with me. My wife got sick on Monday and I reached out to Brother Clay and I said, I'm sure your team was thinking, oh no, not again. But my wife is sick but thankfully both of our boys are well and then I came into the rescue and so I was able to come and so, but I honor my family. I love my wife's summer and our boys Oliver and Palmer and I'm thankful that they pray for me and support what God has called me to do. Second Corinthians chapter number five. If you've got it, say amen. If you're thankful for that, say that's me. Therefore, if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature. Old things are passed away and behold, all things are become new. Is anybody thankful for that? No matter how many times I read that, it never gets old. I'm so thankful. And all things are of God who has reconciled us to himself by Jesus Christ. Here's what he's trying to let us know. Yes, you are a new creature. Yes, the old things have passed away. But that's not the end of what I want to do in your life. I'm thankful that he's transformed us but there is more. He says, I've given to you the ministry of reconciliation to wit that God was in Christ, reconciling the world unto himself, not imputing their trespasses unto them and has committed unto us the word of reconciliation. Everybody say now. Because of this, now we are ambassadors for Christ. As though God did beseech you by us, we pray you in Christ dead and be reconciled to God. I have been in the church for this summer. It will be 16 years, July the 4th, 2010 is when I got the Holy Ghost. And I was a youth pastor for 13 of those years. And so most of my life living for God, I was a youth pastor. I can't remember some of the early days of youth service. I was teaching to our youth group and I felt like I was learning it as they were learning it. They were like, man, this is awesome. I'm like, I know it's incredible. I'm learning it with you, but my pastor trusted me and I'm forever indebted to that. But here's what I know. I've been through enough weeks like this week to know that the enemy would be satisfied if what happens this week just stays and ends on Sunday. But I'm telling you what the Lord wants to do over the next several nights for this youth group and these young adults is something that's going to outlast when we leave on Sunday. And I believe the Lord is going to help us on night one to get you to understand the secret and the understanding of how you can keep the fire burning and how you can keep the joy in serving God. Because I'm going to tell you, there is nothing like serving the Lord. There is nothing like being in His kingdom. Amen. I want to talk to you for just a moment about moments and movements. I want you to lay your Bibles down if you have one and I want you to just slip up your hands and we're going to pray together right now and just ask that the Lord would talk to us tonight. Come on. I want to hear some young people pray right now. Would you lift up your voice and pray right now? God, I love you. I'm so thankful for this opportunity to be in your presence with your people. God, I don't take it lightly. I believe that you have given me direction. Now help me, God, to be obedient to your voice and the leading of your spirit. God, I pray a special blessing upon this youth group and upon these young adults. God, that you would speak to them. Let the Word find good ground in their hearts tonight and let your will be done and everybody say in Jesus' name. I want you to high five somebody close to you and say, you look great tonight and you may be seated. Come on, find somebody else and tell them, you look great tonight. I want to also give a huge shout out to Sammy and Gabriel. Did they not do an amazing job? I kind of feel like Gabriel felt when he first came up here. Just like a sigh of relief. I'm looking out at so many people that I could rather be in the chair listening to you preach, but I don't take it lightly. Has anybody ever heard of a lady by the name of Elsie Eiler? Anybody ever heard of Ms. Elsie? Anybody in the room ever heard of Ms. Elsie Eiler? Nobody. I did not either until I read a unique story not too long ago. She lives in Monawai, Nebraska. She was born and raised there and she met her husband Rudy when she was just in the third grade. They were married in July of 1954 and they stayed together for 50 years until Mr. Rudy passed away in 2004. Ms. Elsie has two children, four grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. Some of them live in the Netherlands and some have moved away to Iowa. But none of her family lives with her in Monawai, Nebraska. In fact, nobody else lives with her in Monawai, Nebraska. Because she is the only resident of the smallest incorporated town in the United States. I don't know if they have that picture you can see. Being the only resident, Ms. Elsie wears quite a few hats. She owns and operates a tavern that people visit to experience. She is the owner, the waitress, the bartender, the cook, and the cleanup crew. And while the town has no residents, her tavern sees many visitors from out of town curious guests. So she's also the town librarian. She opened up her library in honor of her husband Rudy who owned over 3,000 books. On top of that, she is the mayor, the sheriff, the town clerk, and pays taxes to herself to keep the four lamp posts running. Her tavern is open seven days a week from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. So in between running a business and handling municipal responsibilities, she keeps the town alive. In fact, she needed something one time for her tavern, so she wrote a letter to herself as the mayor, and she responded as the mayor back to herself as the owner of the restaurant approving her requests. She's the only person that lives there. You can look it up, Manawai, Nebraska has a population of one. They've asked her if she's ever wanted to leave and she said, no, this is where I've always lived, and I'm just content with living here. She has no neighbors, no coworkers. Some of the introverts are like, man, I may be thinking about moving to Manawai next week. Manawai is a real place where Miss Elsie Eiler lives every day of her life. No coworkers, no classmates, just her. The population of one. I don't think that I have to tell you tonight, but we, everybody say us, we don't live in Manawai. Last night, I checked the population of this great state is north of 6 million people, and just this city alone, the greater metro has over 2.2 million people. We are not the sole resident of our community. We are not the only employee at our job. We're not the only student at our school. We are not the only people in our lives. We cross paths with people every single day, and we cross paths with people every single day because we live in a real place with real people who have real problems, who need to encounter a real God. Our lives are littered with people that are lost, people that are hurting, people that feel helpless, people that need the gospel. Research has stated that the average person interacts with 30 to 50 people on a daily basis. This includes your face-to-face interactions, your phone calls, and your text messages. That number is even higher when you factor in social media. 30 to 50 people a day, roughly 14,000 people every single year. Over 900,000 people in a lifetime because we do not live in Manawai, Nebraska. Our mission is still very simple. In fact, it has never changed since the days of the early church. We've got to spread the gospel with a radical determination. Come on, that every living, breathing, soul deserves the opportunity to know who Jesus is. Anybody believe that tonight? I have come on this first night to remind you as a youth group and as a young adult that the unloved deserves to know that there is a God that does, in fact, love them. The depressed deserves to know that there is a God that can give you joy beyond anything that this world has to offer. The addict needs to know that there is a way out and the alcoholic needs to know that you can be sober. I want you to know tonight that there are a lot of people in this city who are searching and they are hungry but they don't even know what they're looking for. But we know in this building that we have the answer and the answer is Jesus Christ. Come on, if you're thankful for that, why don't you put your hands together? But the only hope for those who have never heard the gospel is that those that do know the gospel share it with them. I believe the Bible gives us the formula of how we can and we'll reach our world. The city that we live in and the schools that we attend and the jobs that we work at, the workplaces. I believe it is the will of God and here is where I've seen this happen so many times. Youth week after youth week, convention after convention camp, after camp NAYC, after NAYC is somehow we can just reduce it to a moment. And I just want you to know I'm thankful for moments. I believe in God moments. I'm thankful for a youth team in a church that would try to facilitate an opportunity like this week where somehow we could gather together and somehow some way the Lord would show up and there would be a powerful moment. Anybody thankful for God moments? I'm thankful for moments. Moments have a way of marking us. Moments have a way of becoming an anchor when the storms of life come. Moments have a way when you feel like your world has been turned upside down and you sit in the middle of a university with professors who are trying to tell you everything against everything you've been taught. Moments were you encountered God at an altar. They have a way of settling you and they have a way of being a roost that you can put down because people may try to argue theology with you but one thing they can never take away is your testimony. I know what God did for me. I know how God met me. Come on, nobody can take that away from me. Moses, we see this throughout the scriptures. Men and women whose lives would forever be changed by a moment. Moses had a moment at a burning bush. David encounters the anointing as a teenager in the middle of his brothers and his father. The Samaritan woman meets Jesus at a well. Paul encounters Jesus on the road to Damascus. Everybody in this room tonight, you can think back to a moment, God moments, the moment that changed our life forever. Maybe you remember the service. Maybe you remember who was preaching or the altar call or the prayer meeting or the youth congress or the youth camp or the youth convention or maybe it was just you all alone in a bedroom but everybody in this room can think back to a moment that I didn't know how I was going to make it through but in that moment Jesus showed up. Come on, I still believe that one moment has the power to change somebody's life forever. I remember when that moment happened for me on July the 4th, 2010 when I walked into a church in Bogalus, Louisiana. I was addicted. I was broken but I walked in in one moment at one altar call and the presence of one God changed my life forever. I believe in moments. I believe you got to have moments like Thomas when the disciples tried to tell him we've seen the Lord and Thomas said I cannot just live based on what you saw and we see where Jesus comes back eight days later and Thomas sees him and he makes this profession. You are my Lord and my God. There is a place where God becomes yours. There is a place where Jesus becomes personal when you see him for yourself and what you do nobody can take it away. I'm talking about moments that change us. Moments that affect us for the rest of our lives. They are elders in this room probably can think back to youth camp moments where your life was forever changed. Sunday morning services where your life was impacted where God put your family back together. Think about when the Bible says that Jesus makes his way to Mary and Martha's house and Martha is working and she's covered about with many things and she's doing all the things and she's serving and there's Mary kind of weird just sitting at the feet of Jesus she's not moving. The Bible says she's listening to every word and Jesus speaks up because Martha is frustrated that Mary won't get up and do anything. She's just sitting there like some kind of weirdo Jesus is listening to every word you say. But Jesus says something interesting. He said Martha Mary had chosen the good part. But then he says this that cannot or shall not be taken away from her because I've learned what you get at the feet of Jesus nobody can take that away from you what you get at his presence what you get at that altar call what you get in that prayer meeting what you get in that use service come on nobody can take that away and I'm thankful for moments that I could hold on to when my faith is low I'm thankful for moments that I could hold on to when my mind is being attacked. I'm thankful for moments. But hear me moments are not meant to be the end of something. They're meant to be the beginning of something because it has to become more than a moment. Moses did encounter God at the burning bush but he also led a nation out of bondage. David does get anointed by Samuel to be king but he also defeats a giant and leaves the kingdom of Israel to a place he'd never been. The lady at the well did meet her Messiah but she didn't just meet him. She goes back into the city and said come see a man that has told me all that I've ever done. Paul doesn't just have that life changing encounter on the road to Damascus he becomes a preacher perhaps the pioneer missionary that the world has never seen anything like it since. It starts with a moment but it was never supposed to stop with a moment. This is the essence of the New Testament church. In the New Testament church we see in Acts chapter 2 that there are 12 men that have been following Jesus for three and a half years. There have been parables and miracles and betrayals and bread and fish feeding multitudes ears being chopped out stormy waters being calm and everything in between but right before it's crucifixion Jesus gave them some very specific instruction go to Jerusalem and stay there until you be endued with power from on high. So there the original 11 plus Matthias and Jesus his mother 120 in total they go to the upper room and they begin to pray. The Bible tells us in Acts chapter 2 and verse 1 and when the day of Pentecost was fully come they were in one accord in one place and suddenly there came a sound from heaven as of a rush of mighty wind and it appeared unto them and filled all the house where they were sitting and there a pinner to them, cloven tongues like as a fire and it sat upon each of them and they were all filled with the Holy Ghost and begin to speak with other tongues as the Spirit gave them the utterance. If there has ever been a moment that changed the course of history it was this moment. In this moment we see the fulfillment of prophecies and promises converging on an upper room as 120 people are now filled with the Spirit of God. Now Jesus is willing and his people do the power of his Spirit but notice what happens after that moment the Bible says they went out of the upper room and it was noise abroad because they said this moment that we just had in this upper room if we just only let it be a moment the 120 may stay saved but the world stays lost and Jesus did not allow us to have this moment for us to simply have this moment the moment leads to a message and the message brings forth a movement and by the end of the day 120 to 3000 why because Pentecost was more than a moment it was a movement in fact the very word apostolic its essence means to be sent we cannot truly be apostolic if we are not sent it denotes the movements the disciples understand if a moment doesn't become a movement it will soon become a monument and all we will have is memories where we talk about what God has done in our yesterdays but I don't know about you young people but there is something in me that I don't all I want to have is stories of what God has done in yesterday and yesterday no no no if Jesus Christ is truly the same yesterday today and forever I want to see miracles now I want to see somebody get the Holy Ghost now I want to pray for my family now come on Gabriel if God can bring Lazarus back he could have brought your mother back and he did I want to see that now it's 2026 but here's what I've learned this is the place where your moment becomes a movement is when you learn to marry your moment to the mission the moment is what God does in you but the movement is what God wants to do through you church will never get boring if you get engaged in the movement the reason church can get stagnant and the reason church can get boring is we make it all about me I get this consumer mentality what can the church do for me and what can pastor do for me and what can youth group do for me but if you will ever shift from being a consumer to being a contributor and said you know what I've had my moment now God is ready to use me come on I'm going to show up on Sunday morning not saying who's going to pray for me I'm going to show up on Sunday morning who can I pray for who can I encourage who can I teach a Bible study to if you will allow hear me for just a moment if you will allow what God does over the next four or five days if you allow this moment to push you into his mission you will experience the greatest fulfillment on planet earth few days ago pastor I was praying thought the Lord spoke to me and said the reason that people are field yet unfulfilled is they're not engaged in what I've called them to do the reason you can be filled with the spirit but you seem unfulfilled is because you treat receiving the Holy Ghost like it was the end of something I had an elder tell me one time drew when you get the Holy Ghost it's not it's not your diploma it's your birth certificate you've not graduated you're just getting started that's why Jesus called it the new birth it is the beginning I just want to let you know when you get the Holy Ghost and God had you have that moment with God that is just the very beginning of what God wants to do in your life and if you will fall in love with the mission and say God now that you have changed me I want you to use me to read somebody else now that you delivered me I want you to use me to find somebody else that needs deliverance now that you set me free I want to find somebody else that's in bondage and let them know the same way you said me free you can set them free it's the moment turning into a movement I've learned there is nothing like keeps the gospel fret that keeps the gospel fresh like sharing it with somebody that's never heard it there would be nothing that will make you more excited to come to you service like knowing that you got a classmate that you've been teaching a bible study to and they're gonna be there there is no feeling like seeing somebody get baptized in Jesus name and seeing somebody receive the gift of the Holy Ghost that you taught the bible study to that you invite I'm telling you if you will get involved in the mission the moment will go to a movement come on and you'll still be fired up about the church 10 and 15 years down the road it's the will of God that what he does this week gives birth to something that outlasts this week I'm talking about the moment and the movement we see pinnacle go from upper rooms to living rooms the bible concludes act chapter 2 by saying that they continued steadfastly the moment was not the ending the moment was the beginning salvation is the beginning of what God is wanting to do in your life Jesus made it very clear the Holy Ghost is not just for a moment it's for a movement in fact he told them in Acts 1 and 8 but ye shall receive power after that the Holy Ghost has come upon you everybody said that's my moment somebody shouted that's my moment you shall receive power after that the Holy Ghost has come upon you but then he says ok now that you've got your moment this is what I want you to do and you shall be witnesses unto me in Jerusalem in Judea in Samaria and to the outermost part of the earth what are we looking at we're looking at a movement it starts in Jerusalem but it's going to go to Judea it's going to go to Samaria and the reason that we are here in 2026 and that same experience made it from the upper room all the way to St. Louis, Missouri if somebody decided a long time ago this cannot stop with me somebody decided what happened to me will not stop with me because there is somebody else that needs to know the same God that brought me out can bring you out I want to tell you the will of God and the plan of God is still for those who know to find somebody that doesn't it's a simple method it's a simple formula but God has always changed the church Jesus said it like this in Mark chapter 3 and verse 14 in the New York Dame 12 that they should be with Him that's their moment but don't just be with me I want to send you forth to preach that's a movement the moment is first but don't ever let the moment be final when we marry our moment to the mission we can engage in the movement of what God wants us to be the Bible gives us the recipe for how we overcome it says they overcame Him the enemy by the blood of the Lamb by the word of our testimony the blood is what Jesus did for me my testimony is a declaration about what Jesus has done for me that's what a testimony is all about it's just telling somebody about our moment so they too could have their own moment a testimony is a present declaration of something God has already done for us there are people in your school and in your world and in your community that if you can't tell them anything else you can tell them about what the Lord has done for you God doesn't want us to have just moments He wants us to be a movement that's why when He calls Moses up to the mount in Exodus chapter 24 the Bible says in verse 12 and the Lord said unto Moses come up to me in the mount and be there and I will give the tables of stones and a law and a commandment which I have written which I have written that you may teach them Moses I want you to come up to me in this mountain there you're going to experience my glory the cloud of my power you're going to be there for 40 days what a moment but Moses you can't stay here on this mountain because as a group of people I want you to go down and I want you to give them what I have given you because Moses what good is if you are the only person who has this moment when there's a whole nation of people that need to know what I have taught you in this moment so Moses go down and teach them because this is what I've learned moments change us but movements change others there are people in this city who are dying tonight to have what we have I want to tell you the enemy can try to paint this picture like nobody wants what we have but I'm telling you there is a world that is hungry and thirsty for what we have there is a world that have tried everything there is to try out there and they're still avoid and they're still unsatisfied you know what they need they need the gospel of Jesus Christ they need the power of the new birth they need to know what it's like to be filled with the gift of the Holy Ghost I wonder is there anybody that still remembers what it was like when God filled you when God saved you when God delivered you when God saved you I don't want this to stop with me there is something yearning in me that God didn't do all that he did for me for it to just die with me that's what Paul tells us in 2 Corinthians 5 if any man be in Christ and I'm closed and he is a new creature all things are passed away all things have become new I'm thankful that God has done that for hopefully everybody in this building if it hasn't happened it can't tonight I'm thankful that we can repent of our sins and we can be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ and anything that that has followed us can be covered in the precious blood of Jesus I'm thankful that we can be resurrected in that same spirit that raised Jesus from the deck and quickened on mortal body I'm thankful for the infilling of the Holy Ghost I'm thankful for the gospel I'm thankful for how it supplied to our life I'm thankful that if any man be in Christ he's a new creature but Paul is saying listen it doesn't stop there he said when you got saved I want you to know God gave you some things he said in verse 18 you are reconciled by himself to Jesus Christ and God has given to you the ministry of reconciliation verse 17 he says it starts with a moment verse 18 then you get the ministry of reconciliation what am I doing I'm trying to bridge the gap between two parties I'm trying to introduce a world to this God that changed my life I'm trying to reconcile some things I've got family members that are lost I've got classmates that are lost I've got siblings that are lost God has given to me the ministry everybody in this room has the ministry of reconciliation I want to be a bridge builder I want to be somebody that lays the path down hey so my mom can be saved so my family can be saved but he says listen you didn't just have your moment and not just giving you the ministry of reconciliation the bible says I've given you the word of reconciliation so Jesus is speaking through the apostle Paul to the church at Corinth and he said listen you had your moment I've given you a ministry this is what you're supposed to do and I've also given you the word of reconciliation this is what you're supposed to say now I want you to go be an ambassador I want you to allow me to send you and Christ is I want you to go and be a representative what is he trying to say I want you to engage in this movement I want to partner with you and I want to use you to turn your world upside down I'm not telling you something that I believe in theory I'm telling you something that I've seen God do over and over again I was 19 years old I told you a moment ago I was the first one in my family to be spirit filled in Jesus name baptized but I have watched over the last 15 years I don't have time to tell you all the story I've watched as I personally saw over one dozen of my family get baptized in Jesus name and God filled them with the holy you know why that happened because there was something in me that said what started in me will not stop in me I'm not content to be the only one full of the spirit I'm not content to be the only one saved I'm not content to celebrate my freedom while the whole world is still in bondage so I'm saying God if you can use anybody you can use me I will go I will go I will preach I will teach I will witness I will do whatever I've got to do because God I don't want this moment to die with me Oh somebody I don't know how it's all gonna work there's a lot of people brother DJ and here a lot smarter than me but I can tell you this I want to know somehow that somebody can see me on the other side and say thank you thank you for teaching me a Bible study thank you I know everybody else passed me up but thank you I'm telling you there are people in this world who are starving and they are longing for what we have all we need somebody is to say you know what I've had my moment I know God is real I know he broke the chains off of my life I know that he set me free so now that's gonna catapult me and that's gonna give me a boldness come on there's somebody else in my world there's somebody else in my life there's somebody somewhere that has no idea but God I want you to engage me this week I will next in week not just to be about me God I want it to be about what you can do through me and next Monday when I go back to school I'm going back full of faith and understanding I am a part of the church of Jesus Christ I've got the power of the gospel within me I've been very privileged to baptize my own mother in Jesus name and pray with her as God filled her with the gift of the Holy Ghost why because there was something in me that says I'm not satisfied to just have a moment I want to reach somebody I have already settled it I did the moment I got the Holy Ghost I said I found what I've been looking for staying with me and listen there was nothing and there still is nothing that you could offer me that can detour me from serving God because I've had what the world has to offer and it pales on comparison brother came up I made up my mind I'm going to heaven but also made up my mind I'm not going by myself no I've read too many stories I've heard too many sermons of men and women who get the Holy Ghost all of a sudden the Lord starts dealing with them and they want to go be a missionary on a foreign field and they get a bird and they want to plan a church I think it would be amazing some of the Lord this week would do something in this year's script that says you know what I've never taught a Bible study but that changes this year I've never won a soul but that changes this year I've never seen someone get baptized that I was personally responsible for teaching but that changes this year because I'm tired is anybody tired just going through the cycle praying through doing bad praying through I'm telling you if you will engage in the mission it will light a fire in you David come here I cannot explain to you what it does David when you're standing at this altar and you are praying with someone that you witnessed to and you brought the church and you watched them lift their hands and tears began to flow and God feels them the Holy Ghost I cannot explain the euphoric feeling it is there is nothing that can be you watch the moment you have but the only way that happens is when people have a moment gazed I'm telling you storm youth there are people in your world all they're waiting on to and be what God's called you to do you have sent me the ministry
