out the year and bringing in the new in the house of god and what better place to be than here because just down the road 102 000 people will get together and scream and yell and holler and a game-winning hail mary touchdown can never ever come close to the feeling of the power of the holy ghost and i'm glad i'm in a place that knows that tonight amen isaiah chapter six and verse number one we'll read through verse number six and the bible says in the year that king uzziah died i saw also the lord sitting high up on a throne and lifted up his train filled the temple above it stood the seraphims each one had six wings with twain he covered his face with twain he covered his feet and with twain he did fly and one cried unto another and said holy holy holy is the lord of hosts the whole earth is full of his glory the post of the door moved at the voice of him that cried and the house was filled with smoke then i said this is isaiah speaking woe is me for i am undone because i am a man of unclean lips and i dwell in the midst of a people of unclean lips for mine eyes have seen the king the lord of hosts then flew one of the seraphims unto me having a live coal in his hands which he had taken with the tongs from off the altar let's read one more verse of scripture and he laid upon my mouth and said lo this has touched thy lips and thine iniquity is taken away and thy sin is purged i saw also the lord okay here is where i give you my uh my caveats to who i am i'm a good old country boy i pastor church in wilmington north carolina married to a wonderful woman who is much smarter much more anointed than i am but i take everything that i can get from her and i try to preach it up here and let me tell you what i believe god wants to do in this place tonight i believe that god wants us to give or wants us to receive a vision that is going to carry us through 2022 and beyond but here's what it takes it takes us connecting with him and letting him have his way if i'll make you a deal i'll preach till i'm blue in the face if you'll respond to god's spirit can we lift up our voices praying together lord we thank you for this great opportunity we thank you for this moment that we've been able to come together and lift up your name and sing praises and worship to you god we're just praying and believing in faith that you are going to move upon us tonight god let the anointing of the holy ghost come and destroy every yoke of bondage in this place we rebuke any spirit that comes against us tonight whether it be human or otherwise and we pray that your spirit will have free reign in this place god we we remove all preconceived notion and idea and we put our eyes on you so that you can have your way in this place and we'll be careful to give you praise and glory for it all and everybody said in jesus name give somebody a high five and tell them you're happy to see him tonight god bless you as you are seated brother sound man if i could get a little bit more monitor he has the hardest job in the church right behind the pastor the poor salman let's give it up for the sound man tonight check one two that's better brother thank you as we look back over this past year there's going to be moments where we're going to find sadness we'll look back and we'll find happiness there we'll find times where we were stressed out as my father-in-law would say thought i was going to lose my mind we'll look back and we'll say man those were good times some will say man those were bad times and a lot of us will say we experienced both we came into 2020 and i don't know about you but how many people said i'm going to have a 20 20 vision there ain't nobody's glasses showed them what was coming in 2020. i'm going to tell you ain't nobody ready for that praise god we came in to the end of 2020 thinking that 2021 was going to be better when you look at the top 100 uh you look at the top 100 stories that cnn said were the top 100 most clicked on stories on the internet the number one was president biden's inauguration but the second was what they called an uprising or an insurrection later that year as we go through we'll find that there was stories of a young girl who had been hiking and and she had went missing her boyfriend would come back and and nobody knew where the girl was and then they would find remains of this young girl that had disappeared we'll find how that the government would begin to mandate things and and we'll find that there's stories of trial and terror and all of these things as we look back over our lives our lives were hit some more than others as i've said before and every time we thought there would be a sliver of light a sliver of hope there seemed to be darkness that would creep in coming seemingly out of nowhere darkness would would come in and it would flood our screens of our cell phones or televisions or our computers as we would read the story of another thing at another time i can remember reading a story of a of an abortion clinic in ohio that that they had found the the remains of of fetuses in the the trash dumpster behind this clinic we will say that we see darkness everywhere that we look we find a nation that's trillions of dollars in debt but yet we're some of the most prosperous people on the planet we've got nice cars we've got nice houses we've got the finest of everything we've got the finest military we've got the finest buildings we've got the finest everywhere that we look and we think that this moment in time it must be so unique it must be the only time this has ever happened in history surely this is the only pandemic that has ever hit surely this is the only time that we can look back and say that a nation has been so blessed but so cursed all at once and when we look really we're not that unique we're not that special the times that we're living in aren't aren't that uh one-off as you would think really when we go back we'll find men and women of god who have faced the same things that we've faced we read stories in the bible and we think as we go from chapter to chapter we move day by day as we look at our bread chart and we make it through the bible in a year but really we're looking at thousands of years of history kingdoms that would rise and fall that would be blessed and would be cursed we would find men and women that would be sick and have leprosy but be healed by the power of a creator we feel that those times are so removed but god gave us his word this beautiful guide this beautiful tapestry that if we lay it out almost reads like a map that will guide us from destination to destination and as we find our way to isaiah we find a man that found himself in a time eerily similar to our own isaiah would be a prophet that would write some of the most well-known prophecies that have ever been read and in fact he's one of the most quoted prophets around christmas time for unto us a child is born under the unction of the holy ghost under the action of the spirit of god this man would write he would pen put pen to paper and he would allow us to see things that to him were the future but to us would be a past that would change our lives forever we look at the word of god and we we seek to understand this is one thing that i've always tried to do westerners we have a a really bad habit of viewing the bible in our context i don't know that it's arrogant i don't know what it is really but sometimes we tend to think that the bible was written specifically and it has my name at the top dear evan love isaiah it's not how it was written it was written to a people it was written to a time there's a context there and if we read the book of isaiah one writer would say that isaiah chapters one through five would be the preface of a book that as he would write these words down what he was trying to do was give us a context to the moment that he was living in give us a a picture of you into what he was dealing with some historians will say that isaiah was a man that knew opulence that new wealth was was uh possibly kin to the kings if you will being privy to conversations that others would not have been privy to he knew in those moments that as king uzziah would serve and and he would lead the kingdom of judah that you would find that the kingdom of judah would be in its most prosperous moments in history their kingdom was growing it was being built their army was boisterous and could conquer anything that could come against them they were carrying water out into distant into distant deserts and bringing water and creating all of these beautiful tributaries and all of these things the things that usaiah had done had made this kingdom so wealthy so prosperous so desirable but there was a dark undertone to what isaiah was seeing though he looked around and he saw people have the nicest things he noticed a lack of love though everything was shiny and new he noticed an absence of light and a presence of a deep darkness though everything seemed great isaiah would write and and discuss of the terrible things that were going on in the book of isaiah chapter one he lays out all of these things he goes through chapter two and we get to chapter three and he writes this interesting word in isaiah 3 and 11 and he would begin to pronounce woes upon the children of israel the kingdom of judah he would write and he would he would get there and he would say woe unto the wicked it shall be ill with them and the reward of his hands shall be given we would find in isaiah 4 not much was said but in isaiah chapter 5 he would begin to look a little deeper into what was going on in isaiah chapter 5 and verse 8 whoa unto them that join house to house that lay filled the field till there be no place they may be placed alone in the midst of the earth a few verses later he would say woe unto them that rise up early in the morning that they may follow strong drink that continue until night till wine and flame them three times so far he's pronounced woes upon the people that he's speaking to the light has faded and the darkness of the world had creeped in to the point that he could see what everybody else was doing he saw the wrong in the hands of the evildoer he saw the wrong in the hands of the drunkard he would go on down isaiah 5 and 20. woe unto them that call evil good and good evil boy don't that sound like today that put darkness for light and light for darkness that put bitter for sweet and sweet for bitter woe unto them that are wise in their own eyes and prudent in their own sight woe unto them that are mighty to drink wine and men of strength to mingle strong drink this man isaiah he was stricken with something all right it was like a righteous indignation some would call it judgmental as he looked out he could see the wrong of everyone else this preface gives us context as to what was going on but there would be a day that would be different than all others there would be a time that would not be equal to all other times as he would sit down and he would write there would be something happen if chapters one through five are a preface then chapter six would really be chapter one chapter six is considered the beginning it's the moment where everything would start for isaiah as he would write and say in the year that king uzziah died i saw also the lord how many times have you looked back over 2021 and possibly even the year before and you can look at all of the wrong in the world you can look at all of the bad in the world and how many times have we let our vision of darkness crowd our vision of the holy how many times have we looked back over the last year and a half to two years and we thank woe and to those that are doing all of these bad things but we forget that as apostolic people serving a holy god that our eyes should not be affixed on the things happening in the world but really they should be a fix on the one the creator the lord it's easy to do i've done it uh pastor whitley he spoke very kindly of me and my wife i can tell you getting your master's degree there's a lot of darkness there brother dear god i've been delivered y'all liberty university keeps on asking me to get my doctorate get back satan ain't no way it's not gonna happen i look back surely i can find things that are so dark that there's no light in them but it's because i find myself gazing at the wrong place if we are going to be a people you see the thing about your church is i don't know if you know this but you don't have a normal church here i don't know if you're aware of this but your church is not just the normal apostolic church no your church is a church that has leadership that has a vision for this community and a vision for this county but it doesn't stop there this church is a church that has a vision for the entirety of the world but let me tell you there's men and women all across this house that will tell you it would never happen if they did not have a vision of god first that then informed their vision of everything else i'm getting ahead of myself he has a moment i saw the lord hi i know sweetie i promise i'm a hurry i have two girls if you're watching ladies i love you vivian and gemma four and two the two-year-old does not like daddy's preaching and the four-year-old really hates it when daddy screams that's why they're in virginia praise god ringing out the new year with my wife and bringing in a new year praise god saw the lord seated on the throne i don't know about you but that's got to be a vision worth having you see there's a lot of visions that we'll have that really aren't worth having that there's visions that we create for ourselves for a future for for things to take place even for our families but when god is not in those visions you'll find out that those visions really aren't even worth having he said he saw also the lord seated up on the throne high and lifted up and notice he has a great vision of god he began to speak about what all he would see and the angels the seraphims would cry out holy holy holy three times speaking of the full holiness of god that god encapsulates the fullness of holiness it says the posts were moved and watch what he says woe is me now wait a minute isaiah in chapter 3 verse 11 you said woe unto them other people i know i did but then in chapter 5 and verse 8 and verse 11 and and verses 20 through 22 you pronounced woe on all kinds of people those that said let uh let let good be evil and evil be good all of those men and women you spoke one to them i know i did because i only had a vision of the external going ons in the world but then i had a vision of the creator i i had a vision of the holy you see the thing about a vision of god is a vision of god will inform your vision of yourself sometimes it will put you on your face like isaiah but then there will be other times like gideon when he said i'm just weak i can't do anything no gideon you're a mighty man of valor you see sometimes we have to have a vision of god so that we can have a better vision of ourselves and you hear me tonight yet young person that young lady that young man even that elder that doesn't know what they're supposed to do next what the next door has got for you let me tell you if you put your eyes on jesus the next path will open up just in time and just in the right way let me tell you young man and young woman if you're praying about where to go next and where to go to college and what to do let me tell you god is going to inform that we just got to get a vision of the holy we've just got to get a vision of the creator we've just got to get a vision of the lord come on can we clap our hands to the lord tonight i want a vision of the holy i want a vision of god i don't want a vision of yesterday i pastor a multi-generational church and i'm going to tell you there is so much strength in multi-generational churches but if you're not careful i'm a young guy getting ready to say this don't be mad at me until sunday night when i leave okay remember i'm a tennessee fan okay i do bleed orange and i live i'm i feel like isaiah woe into all the acc fans on the coast anyway oh blue devils there's nothing holy about that not one bit praise god anyway boy i can't remember what i was going to say we look back over a multi-generational church sometimes if we're not careful with time scales can form over our eyes to the point that our vision of the one we once followed is now dim and the darkness of the world creeps in what we have to have is a vision that is personal but also renewed with each generation there was a man that wrote a book called the last generation of truth about the secretariat cycle he would write and talk about how that there would be generations that would come and generations that would go and if you look at biblical history and history in itself you would find that this cycle would play out time and time again there would be a first generation that would fall in love with the creator the being the one that said everything in motion they would have what they would call a first generation experience they found god at an altar they felt sin be wiped away they served god with a fire and a fervent sin like any anyone has ever seen then they would have a second generation that would come up and they would love those things but not to the point of the first generation the second generation would do it because mom and dad did it but really it wasn't in their heart then finally the last generation there would be a third generation that would come along and they would be the ones that would be there and because grandma and granddad loved it that's all well and good but it's a different time now and i know mom and dad they taught it and they lived it but it's a different day today and this would be the generation that would leave truth all together so when you look out over a beautiful body of believers the way that we look out tonight we see people that have a first generation experience over and over and over again you see when isaiah in that moment experienced god he wasn't going off the writings of a bygone error he wasn't looking at what granddad and grandma thought no he experienced god for himself i found out the other day i am a fourth generation apostolic i'm daggone proud of it but let me tell you of all intents and purposes i shouldn't be in church anymore i shouldn't be preaching anymore i shouldn't be a pastor anymore but what i can tell you is you can grow up on an apostolic pew and you can either grow up to be apathetic or apostolic but it's going to take a first generation experience mom and dad's prayers aren't going to do it any longer when the rubber beats the road we're going to have to be like isaiah and we're going to have to find ourselves talking to the creator we're going to have to be like isaiah and we're going to have to see god high and lift it up [Applause] i want to have a vision of the holy i want to have a vision of the creator i don't want to have to hear the stories of the elders and think it may never happen for me i want it to happen for me i want my generation to see revival i want my generation to be used [Applause] i want to have a vision of the holy i want to have a vision of god we go through the scripture woe is me i am and done i love what happens here now i'm going to get to the place where your vision of god informs your vision of yourself but your vision of god also informs your vision of your purpose and we're going to talk about that in just a minute but isaiah had such an interesting experience you see one of the things that i'm not afraid to do is tell you when i'm wrong that might be a weakness but i was wrong when i looked at this scripture for so long when i looked at the scripture the bible says his train filled the temple i looked at that scripture over and over again and and if you go back and you look in history one of the things you'll find around that time it was common for conquering kings to take the train or the cape of the king that was conquered and attach it to their own and after they would win so many battles their train would be long and flowing and show exactly how many kingdoms and kings they've conquered that's really good i preached the snot out of it i had to repaint the church one time i preached it so hard but i love looking up the root of words in the hebrew what it was talking about was not the train of a conquering king but it was talking about the skirt of a priestly robe one preacher i listen to and i have no reason not to believe and i would think that this could be entirely true says that when you see jesus or when isaiah saw the lord high and lifted up that he actually saw jesus hanging on a cross high and lifted up the train of his priestly robe filled the holy of holies hebrews for we have not a high priest that has not been touched with our affirmatives when he saw in that moment was new testament salvation hanging on a cross the bible calls jesus the lamb slain before the foundation of the world multiple times in scripture it calls him the propitiation of our sins the angel the seraphim would take a tongue from off the altar he would fly it over to isaiah's lips and as he would touch him thy iniquity has been cleansed what if isaiah felt new testament salvation in that moment because when he said i am undone what he was saying is that i feel separated from god if you look at the root of that word i feel distant from the creator i can see him but i can't reach ephesians tells us those that were sometimes afar off are made nigh by the blood of christ we will never in a million years with talent with ability we'll never with our educations and i'm going to tell you i'm going to frame that diploma because i paid a lot of money for it and i'm gonna put it i i almost i might make wallpaper out of it but it doesn't matter how much school i go to it will never give me a vision of the holy like the holy ghost will let me tell you it don't matter how many other churches that you go to if you're not coming to first apostolic church you're never going to experience what isaiah's experienced when he saw god high and lifted up let me tell you something i want to have a vision of the holy so much so that it doesn't matter what is going on around me it doesn't matter what's happening in the world that i can look at myself and i can say woe is me for i am undone but let me tell you i don't have to be undone any longer now i can be made nigh by the blood of jesus christ [Applause] i want to have a holy purpose i see the lord i see myself looking at yourselves the hardest thing you'll ever do let me go back there for a minute music team did an incredible job tonight they did an incredible job leading us into worship i led worship for a long time long time and thank god i've been delivered there's something about having to sing now it makes me so nervous i could puke i've been delivered and let me tell you music team you better have a vision of god because your talent your ability your in-ear pack your your uh where's brother chuck at brother chuck i play the bass too i'm gonna tell you something bro you made it real hard for me to worship tonight because i was just listening away at all those fat grooves bro but let me tell you it don't matter how good brother chuck gets if he don't have a vision of god that informs the vision of his purpose then what he does on a platform will never ever ever ever ever matter i want to be a person that has a vision of the holy let it be said that in this year on tonight i'm leaving behind all of those things that i saw in 2021 and i am marching into 2022 with a vision of the holy i'm almost done this went a lot faster i thought it would i look at the bible i look at what isaiah saw i saw the lord i saw myself and then all of a sudden out of the midst of all of this holy chaos with the doorpost shaking and smoke filling this house and seraphim's covering his feet with two wings covering his face with two wings and with two wings flying all of these things going on i hear a voice i saw the lord i saw myself i heard the lord the voice of the lord saying whom shall i sin who will go for us without isaiah ever seen god he would have never saw himself standing in the need of his iniquity being cleansed he would have never allowed that seraphim to place the coal from off the altar on his lips and his iniquity to be taken away he would have never heard the voice of god and then the voice calls out and this has happened before moses heard it from a burning bush elijah thought he was going to hear it in a in a whirlwind he thought like job no he it wasn't a whirlwind it wasn't an earthquake it wasn't in fire it was a whisper and isaiah here's the voice of the of god whom will go for us whom shall i sin not with a haughty view of himself no because he had already been wrecked because he saw himself for who he really was i don't think it was with sheer excitement he accepted this call i don't think he was running the aisles i don't think he was speaking in tongues and falling and rolling all over the floor even though we get that name because it really does happen in an apostolic church it wasn't some great display it wasn't so loud that the pastor could hear it wasn't for show but from the bottom of his heart from the depths of his created being with a voice i believe would have been quivering i imagine in my imagination because he saw something that few beings that have been created has ever seen no man has seen the lord and lived with weakness maybe with a bended knee maybe on his face with a quiver i here am i send me let me tell you i feel the holy ghost in this place right now hi here am i send me brother where's where's our missionary at where's he at he's back there somewhere maybe he stepped out i'm sorry bro i did not mean to do that to you he heard the voice who will go bishop there was a time not with shadrach meshach and abednego like you said but there was a time when he heard the voice who will go to knoxville and bishop and mother mccool they said here we are send us then there would be a time where pastor and sister mccool would have hear a call because they had a first generation experience because mom and dad's experience wasn't enough i have to experience it for myself and they would hear a call from god oh who shall i send who will go for us and not with a shout not with a cry not with all of this boisterous things but with a quivering fearful dread they said here have i sinned me there'll be another that will come after if time tarries and that one will have to say here am i send me let me tell you that there is so much nonsensical noise in this world today that we can't hear clearly the voice of god because there's so much nonsense in front of our eyes that we can't see clearly the vision of god but if i could find myself in a place december 31st 20 21 with elders that have died and went to be with the lord with men and women all around me if i could just have a vision of the holy the way i say i did it in an old-fashioned altar i love that a vision of the holy that informs its vision of myself whoa it's me for i am a man of unclean lips and i dwell in the midst of a people with unclean lips wow it's me and then all of a sudden the voice of god calls out to a young man or young woman sitting in this church tonight whom shall i sin who will go for us i know this seems like a somber moment and it's probably a bad time to make you laugh but i you know i've learned some tricks to deal with my anxiety with my wife because she's smarter than me and one of those tricks is i need to know what's happening you know pastor nate i need to know what are we doing today and if i know it it helps me so i need to tell you what i'm about to do it's nothing crazy i'm not about to jump in the baptistry but what we're about to do is we're about to have an open altar call where we're not afraid of omnicron and if you are i'll pray for you i i don't mean that a bad way i'm being serious because fear has gripped the hearts and minds of millions but i'm going to tell you that tonight god wants to meet you at an altar and he wants to touch you so if we could stand to our feet together pastor i hope this is okay he said it's perfect i don't get that too often so we'll just bask in that for a minute y'all think about that while i drink my water you know what i gave you all a bunch of laughs least you can do is come to an altar okay say that's the price of admission we in the past two years have uh forgotten what we once took for granted that uh we needed to have somebody lay hands on us and we need to have moments with god i believe with all of my heart that god did not bring me here just to be funny and make you giggle god didn't just bring me here so that you could hear about isaiah and my love for pals which i had four times this week because we do not have that in wilmington now this is what i believe with all of my heart i'm a pastor my heart is in wilmington and it was very hard there's very few people i would say yes to for the last service of the year in the first service of a new year when i've only been pastoring a church for a year but when fac calls brothers and sisters you answer that's right god brought me here to tell you that if we can get our eyes off all the darkness if we could get our eyes off all the craziness if we can get our eyes off all the nonsense if we can get our eyes off i don't care if you're democrat republican or independent if we can get our eyes off of washington and we can put our eyes on something holy i believe with all of my heart that god is going to do a work and let me tell you it's not just going to be in english-speaking communities brothers and sisters it's going to be in the spanish-speaking community it's going to be all across this region but here's what it takes it takes me finding my way to an altar and having a vision of god [Music] that informs my vision of myself i think the best place to start is repentance so i'm not going to lead you in a prayer because i don't know what you've done and i really don't want to know but what i would ask is if we could take two minutes max if you need longer to tell all you've done take it okay but i want us just to lift our hands and begin to pray and talk to god this is what repentance is if you don't know it's asking for forgiveness of what you've done that maybe is a pleasing to the lord and it's turning away from that sin and turning to the holy come on can we pray that in sincerity for just a moment god whatever it is i pray right now that you would reveal it to us whatever thing that separates us from you you used your prophet isaiah to say that iniquity is coming between us and god so we pray right now reveal it to us lord [Music] oh reveal it to us god those secret things that maybe i don't even see or maybe i don't even want to admit [Music] okay we've all repented and i'm thankful that you did now here's what i would ask that we do if you feel comfortable i wonder if we could find our way to an altar tonight if you don't know what that is it's this big thing in front of me with all the steps [Music] and i wonder if we could just talk to god and before they sing i want to pray a prayer over you as the people come in it's okay come on in i'm vaccinated come on [Music] it's all good [Music] jesus thank you for being responding to the word what a beautiful beautiful congregation [Music] so here's what's going to happen we're going to raise our hands together in just a moment and i'm going to pray over you and when i pray over you after when i get done they're going to begin to sing and i believe in faith that god is going to give you a vision of him like you've never seen before that is going to renew your vision of your purpose and his plan for your life can we lift our hands together thank you god of heaven and of earth we've talked about you we've preached about you we've sang about you but right now we need you to come into this place and touch us god i pray over every person under the sound of my voice god i claim right now god and i speak the mighty name of jesus over these believers tonight god i pray that anything that would be in their mind regarding this past year would be gone in jesus name god let a renewed vision of you break out in this place let a spirit reach out in this house and sweep through like a mighty rushing wind come on that's it the holy ghost is here [Music] come on that city wants [Music] [Music] call out to god call out to god [Applause] [Music] [Applause] yes jesus and they cry come on that's it god is moving in this place [Music] [Music] [Applause] [Music] [Music] holy lord [Music] for i am unclear for my eyes i've seen the holy kings [Music] [Applause] [Music] the pillars [Music] oh [Music] come on the holy ghost is moving right now [Music] is what i would ask us to do i'm getting ready to get out of the way and we're just going to have some time along with the lord with a couple hundred of our closest friends but the bible it talks about how that if we repent of our sins and if we're baptized in the name of jesus christ for the remission of our sins that he'll fill us with the gift of the holy ghost i believe that experience is very close to what isaiah experienced that day iniquity sin past regret and failures just being washed away [Music] and the spirit of god living inside of you so if you've never been baptized we just repented together a few minutes ago if you've never been baptized in jesus name i promise you this is the place you want it to happen if you don't know you say well i've been baptized there's only one way to be sure go down again and listen to that sweet name of jesus be called over you as you're baptized [Music] so this is what i would ask that we do i'm finished i'm moving out of the way i'm just as hungry as you are [Music] so i would ask there's a person to your right or to your left and if you feel comfortable i would ask that you pray for them as they begin to sing one more time and i would ask that you pray that this next year they will have a vision of you the likes of which they've never had before can we begin to lift up our voices praying together for our brother and for our sisters right now [
