mindful of the time I know there's school in the morning and it means a lot to me that you're here tonight I am very honored to be here as brother carpenter said pastor carpenter said 40 years ago at NYC 1979 and and he mentioned just a slight correction we didn't even have cell phones they didn't they didn't even see it we didn't know what a cell phone was and a computer was something that some huge company owned and it took up an entire building but 40 years ago 1979 dad would see a young evangelist named Kenneth carpenter who dad would book for revival in his Sandford and this was the beginning of a wonderful friendship your pastor was there for my high school graduation my mom's hair caught on fire when they let off the fireworks and the carpenter was patting her hair saying mom's hair's on fire mom's hair's on fire I played trumpet at pastor and sister carpenters wedding from the balconies surely the presence of the Lord is in this place pastors pastor carpenter officiated our wedding ceremony for sister acres and I as he said we have celebrated Christmas together we have celebrated graduations and vacation time together we've celebrated the birth of our children and our grandchildren attended weddings and even grieved the loss of family members together I remember coming to chat and Fallon's wedding the Erickson's wedding and I discovered when I got there that I had packed two left shoes nobody knew it that night but I was walking in a minion circles that was quite an experience amen and then we went to South Carolina to the wedding of the Hammonds and sat there and was freezing before we by the time it got started but what a beautiful beautiful wedding it was and I can't record a third one yet it's all good no I would fix a no hurry no hurry man but I want to say that that countless countless our wonderful the memories and stories that I could share with you your pastor and your first lady have been true friends they've been true leaders and true examples and I will tell you that that outside of my dad nobody has impacted my life more than pastor kidney carpenter nobody has had a greater thumbprint on me than this precious man of God what you see in this pulpit is what you get anywhere and everywhere he is truly a man of God they've been friends who have brought balance to our lives and I can say that I have never known them to waver from the Apostolic way so to Pastor and sister carpenter to brother and sister Erickson to brother and sister Hammond to brother Noland and to all the first Apostolic Church we just want to say that we love you we congratulate you on this beautiful beautiful beautiful house of worship amen and one thing that excites me more than anything is knowing absolutely knowing what this building was built for it was built for us to call upon the name of the Lord it was built for us to call upon the name of the Lord hallelujah amen could we stand together numbers if you have your Bibles numbers chapter 10 verse number one I will say tonight that I really had planned on playing the trumpet and I would not even mention that except for it was going to be my object lesson in my preaching so I have to mention that I was going to play the trumpet tonight and I was gonna happen trumpet up here beside me and brother Erickson even looked to see if there was one somewhere in the campus and we couldn't find one so I was going to play trumpet and that'll come clear in just a moment numbers chapter 10 and verse number one you have that what you say Amen and the Lord spake to Moses saying make the two trumpets of silver of a whole piece shalt thou make them and thou mayest use them for the calling of the Assembly and for the journeying of the camps I want to preach tonight just a something that's been on my heart for this service and for this time I want to preach on a certain sound a certain sound would you say that with me a certain sound father I ask you tonight to anoint the Word of God anoint God my lips of clay and used me Lord as a vessel use me to speak to somebody in this room God touched the heart to receive it and Lord let us have a willing willing heart and a willing mind to accept the Word of God and to be obedient to your will in Jesus name and everybody said amen you may be seated these trumpets that we read of in numbers 10 were used to call the congregation that were used for several purposes to call the congregation together for meetings of leaders for the sound of an alarm calling armed men to go to battle and for a call to worship the people of God knew for which purpose the trumpet was being blown by different and distinct sounds that were being made each purpose had a certain sound and these trumpets were only to be used by the priesthood only the sons of Aaron could blow these trumpets only anointed men of God could use the trumpets we read in the text where we read that there were they were made of the whole piece everybody say a whole piece the trumpets were to be made straight like those used that maybe you draw the picture in your mind of the entry of a monarch the picture comes to mind of a line of long thin regal trumpets with royal banners hanging from them the trumpets were to be made of silver which is a picture of redemption I remember playing the trumpet from age 12 I've been a trumpet player since age 12 and the sixth grade I remember my parents purchasing my first trumpet when it arrived it came by way of ups and I could take it to the very spot in Sanford behind the old house where we lived where the UPS driver pulled up and they allowed me the parents did my parents did to take the trumpet and it was my very first trumpet a literal love was placed in my heart for the trumpet from the very first day that it was put in my hands not only that but there was a bond that formed between my music teacher and myself mr. Murphy and to this day we frequently see mr. Murphy all over town and every year in December he comes to the FAC of Sanford Christmas concert sits in the back listens to me play listens to our choir sing and he sits there in cries the whole time over the first few years of playing the trumpet as I grew more familiar with my trumpet and as my talent began to grow I noticed something was changing my trumpet didn't sound the same to me it sounded like it was wearing out I thought it was just getting old because it sounded more tinny more metallic it sounded like a toy trumpet the quality wasn't what it used to be and so I went to mr. Murphy and mr. Murphy told me that there was nothing wrong with the trumpet it was as good as it has always been but it was as good as it would ever get my talent had grown to exceed the quality of the trumpet he informed me that the trumpet I had fallen in love with first time I'd ever heard it was a beginner level trumpet I thought the trumpet island was the best thing in the world but it was a beginner level and mr. Murphy told me that there were actually three levels of trumpets a beginner level and intermediate level and a professional level and there are two main differences between the lower level trumpets and the professional line trumpet tonight I would have had my professional line trumpet here but the difference is that the lower levels are made of lesser grade metal they're made of lesser grade metal and about four inches from the end of the bell there is a ring around the Bell where there the piece has been welded to the trumpet but the professional level trumpet is made of a higher grade metal and it's made of one whole piece and it gives a pure unbroken more certain sound and tone quality in a trumpet that's made of more than one piece where it's welded on the end the sound has to travel through the brokenness so the sound has been compromised because it is pieced together it's not one whole piece it's a broken sound it's an uncertain sound it is a flawed sound the Apostle Paul was dealing with the Church of Corinth over a lot of confusion he said there are those who were making public displays of speaking and unknown tongues and you're not helping anybody he said there are others who are giving giving messages in tongues but there's no interpretation and you're not benefiting anybody he said there's a lot of uncertain sounds there was a lot of confusion nobody was being edified or comforted nobody was receiving any instruction and to this the Apostle Paul says in 1st Corinthians 14 7 and even things without life giving sound whether pipe or harp except they give a distinction in the sounds how shall it be known what is piped or heart even in band instruments I was going to take my trumpet tonight and show you that you could take the trumpet you can ask me after service what the trumpet is but you could take the trumpet push the valves half way no definite position of the valves and there's that there's a there's a sleigh ride song that that that symphonies play and if you've ever heard sleigh ride by a symphony there's a point where the trumpeter there's a sound of a horse neigh and he neighs during the song well what does what he's doing is he's taking his trumpet and he's pushing the valves half way and he's blowing an uncertain sound and so it doesn't sound like a trumpet it sounds like horse because it's giving an uncertain sound and here the scriptures telling us that even even band instruments can give uncertain sounds he said even what his piping was hard how can you know if it's not giving a distinction of the sound then he goes on in verse 8 for if the trumpet give an uncertain sound who shall prepare himself to battle so likewise he accepts you utter by the tongue words easy to be understood how shall it be known what is spoken for you shall speak into the air it's useless sounds it's uncertain sounds an uncertain sound and a trumpet is the product of one of two things a lesser great trumpet made by broken pieces welded together or a flaw of musician that doesn't know how or doesn't care what he's doing the same thing is true in the realms of the church an uncertain sound in the pulpit is the product of a lesser grade preacher not preaching the Word of God as one whole piece or a flawed man in the pulpit that was never called of God to preach or even worse he don't care we're living in a world of uncertain selves that bring a lot of confusion a lot of amateur musicians are playing for the church world today but Jesus said take heed that no man deceive you for many shall come in my name saying I am Christ and deceive many many folks prophets shall rise and deceive many Paul told the Romans there are those who have caused divisions and offenses that are contrary to the doctrine avoid them they don't serve the Lord Jesus but they serve their own belly he told the Galatians I'm shocked at how quickly some of you have departed from the faith he said but there be some that are troubling you and they're twisting the Word of God John said there are those that will come to you and they will bring this doctrine he said don't receive them in your house and don't even say god bless you as they go on their way Jude said I have a need to write unto you to contend for the faith because we've got a creep problem men have crept in unawares I'll tell you your legalised by the Bible to call some guys creeps because they creep in unaware amen and they have turned ungodly men turning the grace of God into lasciviousness immorality and denying the only Lord God and our Lord Jesus Christ somebody say it's an uncertain sound there's a lot of uncertain sound in our world today a troubling picture is given of compromise in the Word of God in Matthew chapter 7 Jesus spoke of a wise man that built his house where on the rock and Matthew seven and twenty five said and the rain descended the floods came and the winds blew and it beat upon the house and it fell not why for it was founded upon a rock but then Jesus contrasts that with a foolish man that built his house on the sand and in 27 he said the rain descended the floods came the winds blew and beat upon the house and it fell and was the fall of it it didn't just fall it was a grateful it didn't just fall but it was an extensive fell not just partial but complete I want to tell you that if you don't build your life on the Word of God you're gonna get to yourself into an irreparable situation you've got to build your life on the Word of God oh god we need the Word of God he preface 'as he premises the foundation before he starts about built the wise men and he said whosoever heareth these sayings of mine these sayings of mine and doeth them is like a wise man that builds his house on the rock but whoever hears these sayings of mine and doesn't do them is like a foolish man that built his house upon the sand I want to tell you your response to the Word of God determines where you're building your life your response to the storm make no mistake the storm is going to come turn to your neighbor and say the storm is going to come the only question is where you're building everybody in this room is going to have a storm everybody in life is going to have storm the only question is where you're building are you building otherwise foundation or you're building on the foolish man's foundation Oh hallelujah the problem is the fool built his house on the sand Webster defines sand and he defines sand as small loose grains of worn or disintegrated rock sand is broken up Rock that's what sand is the foolish man built his house on a foundation of compromised rock but the wise man built his house upon a foundation of a whole piece of rock the wise men built upon the whole truth the Word of God wise men set their life under the direction and the leadership of a man of God that will give a certain sound a wise man sits under a pastor who's caught of God a wise man sits a pastor who's playing the whole unbroken piece of the Word of God you can't successfully build your life by listening to a preacher that's gonna break up the Word of God and try to weld pieces together but you're gonna build your life successfully you got to do it by a pastor and a preacher that'll take the Word of God the whole piece and preach it just like it is would you give the Lord a praise tonight Oh hallelujah Oh hallelujah we are continually warned in the scriptures of false teachers false doctrines of compromised messages building life on the sand of broken rock these voices are men that are not called of God they weld the pieces together they pull out what they want to pull out and what they want to add but Oh God give us men that'll put the trumpet to the mouth and play the whole piece just like it is from Genesis to Revelation we can't leave anything out we've got to preach the word there are a lot of amateur players playing a lot of beginners trumpets given out uncertain sounds messengers not called of God the message is nothing more than broken pieces of what should be a whole piece but I've come to tell you that for three generations now there has been a trumpeter called of God come to the city of Maryville Tennessee for three generations there has been a pastor here carrying a trumpet made of one whole piece of Redemption he was at one time on his business card when he first came to the city of Maryville he said he's a young man with an old message well now he's not so young a man but it's the same old message aren't you glad is the same old message it's the same old word that trumpeters been playing the same tune the same certain sound clear distinct everett I heard it tonight he was talking to the children we want to keep the Apostolic way we want to stay in the dark amen God give us some men of God that will preach the whole peace would you kept your hands to the Lord Oh hallelujah we need a certain sound we need a certain sound certain sound is the product of two things it's a professional musician or the only way you can be a professional musician is to be trained by masters professionals are people who have sat under other masters of music secondly they're not playing with a beginner level trumpet they're playing a flawless piece a certain sound comes from a man of God trained by the master himself preaching the flawless unadulterated unaltered Word of God when John the Baptist came preaching in the wilderness of Judea he was a professional musician who'd been trained by the master John one-in-six says there was a man sent from God whose name was John the same came for a witness to bear witness of the light that all men through him might believe he was playing a pure instrument a trumpet made of one whole piece of silver of redemption his message was flawless he gave off a certain sound he didn't come with pretty words John the Baptist didn't come with pretty words he came to make the crooked straight he came to bring the high low and pull up the load to where it needed to be he came to lift up the low and to make a highway in the heart of man for God to come his message was crystal clear it was a pure message repent ye for the kingdom of heaven is at hand turn your life around eternity is nearer today than it's ever been a certain sound says this is the way walky their end you can't change the Word of God the Word of God is unadulterated the Word of God is unbreakable the Word of God is a whole piece and a certain sound is going to preach you must be born again you must go to the water in the name of Jesus and you will receive the in filling of a Holy Ghost evidence by speaking in other tongues a certain sound preaches the mighty God is Jesus and it's all in him you'll have anybody here tonight that believes without holiness no man shall see the Lord that's a certain sound tonight a certain sound preaches eternal judgment a certain sound preaches the casting out of devils and speaking with new tongues and taking up of serpents divine protection and divine healing a certain sound preaches faith in Jesus Christ the Pentecostal experience and the Apostolic Doctrine the holiness lifestyle a certain sound preaches heaven is high hell is hot to a man and God is real well a certain sound everybody say a certain sound aren't you glad that you know what's going to be preached when you come to church aren't you thankful that you know it's going to be a certain sound in the Pope here a certain sound preaches God loves all souls red yellow black and white they are precious in His sight poor rich middle class God loves them all tall short large and small smart not so smart aren't you glad God loves me a certain sound preaches love God with all your heart soul mind him strength a certain sound preaches demonstrative praise demonstrative worship I wasn't here Sunday but the Garnett family got to singing it's real it's real and I don't know who I don't know if she's here tonight but some dear dear sister in this church couldn't run the aisles but she had somebody assuring her around here and she was doing the walk and I was thinking Lord God when he gets done let him get my hand and walk me because I want to be demonstrative in my praise I want to be demonstrative in my worship I don't ever want to let up on my god a certain sound I want the world know to know who I believe him I want the world to know that I am a praise or in a worship of Almighty God certainly if I say a certain sound certain sound is an unwavering sound that time does not change we live in a very very very wicked generation there's a lot of churches that carry the same name we carry but they don't preach the message we preach I'm not going to stay here but I just feel like I need to say this it doesn't view the old message as some outdated antiquated moth-eaten theme but it sees the message as a timeless same yesterday today and forever we're still preaching with the former generation priest well I'm still preaching what my daddy preached I'm still preaching what my papi Akers preached in Kingsport Tennessee a certain sound it never changes it's the same I've got I've got a picture of my puppy acres a black-and-white picture of my puppy acres in Kingsport Tennessee he helped lay the first sidewalks in Kingsport Tennessee and it's in the early 1900s and he's baptizing a very elderly lady in the in a creek there and I've been told and you know I don't have anything to verify it she sure does look this way that she was the oldest woman in Kingsport at the time but he's putting her down in the name of Jesus Christ we're still preaching what the former generation preached the old bishop that's going to mount this pulpit here Friday night pray a dedicatory apprai over this place we're still preaching the message he preaches we'll still preaching it's all in him Jesus is the mighty God the apostolic way God give us trumpeters that'll preach a certain sound so here's the message tonight you better know the trumpet and you better know the trumpeter Jesus Christ came with a clear voice the Bible says they were astonished at his doctrine he taught them as one that had Authority and not as the scribes we've got to preach it with authority we've got to preach it with authority a clarion call in this hour is needed a loud and clear voice that sounds like a war trumpet when they saw the boldness of Peter and John before the council they perceived that they were unlearned and ignorant men but they marveled and took knowledge of them because they had been with Jesus amen a couple of years ago and I'm closing a couple of years ago in Australia a Christian Member of Parliament appeared on national TV a Christian Member of Parliament in Australia a known Christian sat on a panel the moderator on this television show asked this well-known Australian Christian who was sitting beside the notorious Richard Dawkins of England who is a famed atheist the question was given from the moderator to the Christian where did humans come from the Christian well known Christian leader in the Parliament of Australia reached over put his hand gently on the atheists arm and said you may want to ask this guy he's got firm views on it how sad how sad that a Christian yielded the answer of man's origin to an atheist essentially this well-known Australian Christian declared that secularists know what they believe but Christians don't that's what he was saying and when we live in a generation when most Christians including Christian academics pastors and other Christian leaders are asked what they believe about our beginnings their answers are too many times uncertain sounds we're not called to accommodate the secularists and what they believe we are called to give a certain sound think about what I'm saying tonight most children from church homes attend public schools you're a blessed Church tonight you're a blessed Church tonight day care Christian school you are a blessed Church tonight I don't know the percentages I don't know the percentages but I'm going to tell you that overwhelmingly most Apostolic children have to grow up in public schools you are a blessed church tonight most kids in church homes attend public schools their textbooks and lectures are given to our young people are very specific about history they are taught as fact this is what they teach the universe began with a big bang 15 billion years ago the stars formed 10 billion years ago the Sun formed 5 billion years ago and molten earth four and a half billion years ago and they say it like they know it unequivocally and then they'll go on and say water formed on the earth 3.8 billion years ago and over billions of years they'll say this and move right on life listen life formed from non-life and they'll keep on as if they know exactly what they're talking about not realize how foolish that statement was that life formed from non-life and they go on then they evolved to fish amphibians reptiles birds mammals then ape-like creatures then finally man a process they say that involved literally billions of years secularists can insist they know all of this happened in the unobservable past they insist we don't know exactly how it happened but I'm telling you this has out happen they claim to know the true history of the universe they believe in preach their worldview with a zeal admitting there's no hard evidence to back it up but on the other hand here we are Christians have the benefit of a very specific history that's been revealed to them by someone who was there at the beginning and has been there throughout all of history and who doesn't lie yet believers say they aren't sure Christian I'm not talking about in this building but I'm talking about there they're not sure about what our beginnings were no wonder it is no wonder that we are seeing a mass exodus of young people from churches they begin to doubt the Bible reject it as God's Word and then lead the church if the trumpet give an uncertain sound who shall prepare himself to battle Oh God give us Christians give us apostolic sin Maryville Tennessee that'll spread a certain sound that will let this world know that Jesus is God and that they can be saved we'd better start broadcasting a certain sound can I say tonight to anyone that's in this room and I don't know maybe I'm preaching a nobody but if you're not sure you need to get sure if you're not sure what you need to know is right here in this room I can unequivocally absolutely tell you what's going on and it's in the Word of God God created us first of all we came by way of creation you say well what's the problem the problem is we fell in sin and we were born that way but the good news is we've got a solution to the sin problem and his name is Jesus Christ through the death the burial and the resurrection we can't find life we can find life more abundantly we can find what we're looking for we need a certain sound oh can we worship Him can we praise Him do you believe there's only one God do you believe in Jesus name baptism do you believe in this apostolic way thank you Jesus may be seated as the musicians come we'd better start broadcasting a certain sound hear me parents you can't lean on what just happens on Sunday and Wednesday you got to teach it diligently to your children how do you do that with the spirit of authority don't be saying I don't know well I'm not sure you need to get sure you need to find out what's going on teach it with the spirit of authority from the Word of God teach it after you've come out of prayer in the presence of God teach it after you've studied to show yourself approved we've been equipped with everything we need to give a certain sound the Bible is the answer to every question it's the solution to every problem and it's the direction for everyone's life's needs everybody say I've got the Word of God we've got the Word of God could we stand together it's time to make a certain sound it's time to speak with authority it's time to witness truth it's time to say with the Apostle Paul I am not ashamed I said I am not ashamed for I know whom I have believed and I am persuaded that he is able to keep that which I committed unto him against that day it's the truth it's the truth amen because it's the Word of God and I'm gonna tell you something it's prophetically accurate somebody say it's prophetically accurate say it is historically accurate say it is scientifically accurate let us make a certain sound I ask tonight in this room if there's anybody that says Lord I believe I am convinced I know into whom I have believed I know the way the truth the life and I'm so thankful for the revelation no man comes to the Father except the spirit draw him but aren't you glad one day he drew your heart would you step out of that pew where you are make your way to this home to lift your hands and thank God for a certain sound in this place that's it just gather it give God glory and praise just begin to thank God with a certain sound thank God for the way the truth and the life
