God over to God thank you Jesus you may be seated how delighted I am to be here some of you may envy you that are without your full Consciousness but finding me writing in the wake of what we have heard this week so far with the Bernard and brother Mangan left his blood and guts all over the platform up here sister Vesta Mangan causes me to weep until my eyes are sore brother shock and talking about Jesus name and sister Megan and sister Brooke today ministering about all the Brokenness of life for the ten in communion then here I am I'll probably if die and my bathtub and then when I get to heaven I'll have to testify right after Noah so now you know where I am tonight I'm glad my wife is here since Rob won't you stand up and let everybody see you that I'm married above my pay grade God bless her I love her I love her yes I do yes I do folks have been so kind and so and so gentle with me and I appreciate that I'm going to I would not advise this but and to sell them take my own advice but I'm going to preach out the Book of Leviticus and when you say that why people get kidney spasms and there's a migration to the restroom you know mothers pinch their babies to get them to Christ so they could leave you know because any good thing come out of the Book of Leviticus wasn't even written to the general populace but written absolutely to the tribal Levi and in that book they lived and moved and had their being and if I was on my deathbed and you came to comfort me please do not go to the Book of Leviticus that's pushed me on over the pushed me on over the edge so why would a person do this I'm not sure I'm just not sure The Book of Leviticus you cannot like preach a chapter you have to nibble at it just nibble like one little verse because the rest of it will choke you to death we'll just choke you and so have encouraged you on my message tonight I'll read one verse if you'll peel the pages apart in The Book of Leviticus because some of them have not been opened in a while you may have to say blow the pages apart you go ahead and stand with me and my time is running I understand thank you for the making of this great church for all the hospitality and all the great food and fellowship and Comforts that you have offered us in the Book of Leviticus seventh chapter and the eighth verse Leviticus 7 verse 8 I said you just have to nibble and the priest that offereth any man's birth offering I'll read slow so you can hear this and the priest singular that offereth any man's burnt offering even the priest shall have to himself the skin of the burnt offering which he hath offered I will do my best to minister tonight on the subject of to the priest goes the skin let's lift our hands and love the Lord and just ask him to speak to our hearts into our minds to our Spirits dear God thank you Lord for loving us we were unlovable thank you for your grace because I know that it's still amazing dear God it is still amazing your Wonder tonight God now bless our minds to be recipients of the word of God thus our minds to be recipients of the great word of God thank you Jesus thank you Jesus thank you Jesus you may be seated one of the benefits of taking your subject from Leviticus is the chances are nobody's going to walk over your message nor are you theirs you don't have to go there but in verse 6 that in meat offerings every male among the priests shall eat thereof so the meat of the offering all the males could eat of the meat verse 10 would say that meat offerings with oil and dry shall the sons of Aaron have won as much as another so wherever the meat was made then the sons of Aaron everybody got an equal portion of it this is important not to you right now but it's important for me to make this clear because certain sacrifices were shared among the priests each getting an equal portion regardless of which priest actually did the sacrificing they all got to eat an equal amount because the meat was common among Aaron's sons but concerning the skin of the sacrifice the law was very specific as to whom it belonged the Bible said that the skin belonged to the priest who offered it it was not commonly shared it didn't become community property all the priests did not get an equal portion the skin was not divided up among them as was the meat it belonged completely and exclusively to the offerer the skin became his personal possession and I'll get back to my text in just a moment because I I hate when preachers read a text they never get back to it because there should be a point to your preaching to begin with so you probably should Meander back to it now and then so I will come back to it back when the world was young and I was a little boy Cole was just turning into diamonds and dinosaurs were turning into oil was born and raised in Annapolis and I played in the alleys down the streets the big boys got the streets the little boys got the alleys so we kind of had a club A group of men boys that played in the alleys and we would climb telephone poles and jump off the telephone poles on the garage roofs and then go from roof to roof to roof they were very close together just row houses and that's kind of how we journeyed that's how we went from neighborhood to Neighborhood roof to roof we were just alley alley rats that's just alley rats you know we we run people didn't really care for us so much I'm not sure why but you know we ran on the roofs and and we knew where there were cherry trees and there were apple trees and there were there were great Vines and and we would just leave a trail of of of cherry pits and apple cores and and seeds of all kinds and our wake and looking back on it now I it's I understand why they didn't care for us or see us coming we're like a blight of locusts as it came through and just ate everything ate the crops all up and so it was a it was a great time for us to we we just we just I don't know we lived in garbage cans we didn't live in them but we checked them all out you know because some people throw away good stuff you know and we were all always looking for good stuff to have to make up your games and you needed you needed like a wheel or a broom handle or something that was valuable to a boy and we would just collect that kind of stuff and just have a lot of fun but now and then maybe there'll be a week or so go by you would hear a faint cry way off and it would say any old rags any old rags and when we heard that sound we would come from everywhere boys would come out apple trees and peach trees and awful roofs and out of garages and out of trash cans and out of dumpsters and everywhere else we'd all congregate because as the voice got lower we understood the rag man was coming and it was a special time for a boy because the rag man had an old he had an old wagon and it was pulled by a horse and this is back I said when the world was young and he pulled by a horse and we didn't get to see a horse hardly ever you know maybe a little farm or somewhere someone a horse came down the alley you know when you hear the wheels grinding in the dirt and what have you and and the rag man was coming you don't know about a rag man but we didn't have no Rags for him we was wearing most of ours but some people would come out you know and the rag man was coming and they would bring their old rags out and throw it in the cart and and the rack man would appreciate they didn't pay anybody anything but it just collected Rags I don't know what he did with them you know I have no idea but he was just a rag man and that's what we call him I didn't know what his name was but it's pulled by a horse and he'd always stop and let us pet the horse and it had a straw hat with a hole cut in for his ears to come out that's the horse not the rag man and he he he he and we always loved to pet him and come up to him you know and smell the horse and you know it was just good for a city kid to get to have a horse around you know and it let us pet him and he'd holler at any old rags any old rags and a bunch of rack of muffins but we didn't have any Rags for him but it's getting to pet him was like Barnum and Bailey has come to town it was a enjoyable time for the rag man to get here and and do his thing and sit there and we would we would pet the horse and look at him but there was something else about the rag man's horse and he had a he had a Old Rag man had fixed up a carrot and he hooked it in the my carousel there you go he had the carrot hooked up and he had it hooked in his Bridle and had it stuck out over the horse you know and and the carrots began to look pretty wilted down you know and even as a kid I thought you know you ain't gonna never get that carrot the way he's got it positioned you know it's about you know about eight or ten inches from his nose and even as a kid I knew there's something wrong if he wants to feed him he needs to get a little closer where he can you know horse would stick his lips out you know but he had it far enough away that he could never get it there was no way in the world he could ever get it you know he may be hungry for a carrot but when he gets back to the bar and he's getting hay we knew that he wasn't going to get that carrot because they've been hanging there seemed like as long as the old rag man had been coming around the same old carrot hanging there and he had never got it and wasn't never going to get it and so it was just it was just kind of an incentive I guess for the old horse to pull the weight of the wagon thinking you know if I just you know man you can run and he could walk he could he could Trot or he could Gallop but he ain't getting a carrot because it's not speed that's going to get it you know I mean you could be a you could be a a racehorse you know you ain't getting a carrot you know you ain't gonna never get it because it can run as fast as you're running because it's hooked to you for Pete's sake you know whoever paid is but the carrot the carrot idea is as old as man you know the the carrot in the eyes of the beast is just an inducement to pull the load forward and get the reward but you and I are smarter than a horse and we know he's never going to get the reward he may pull for the appetite of a carrot but at feeding time he's going to get hay because he has operated under a delusion as to what his reward is going to be I think it's time to consider because I suppose in the heart of all of us that have given themselves to Ministry there is some hope that we could somehow better ourselves and better our lives through Ministry and I think it would behoove each of us to take a fresh look at what hangs from the string in front of us what is this carrot that causes you to pull the load of your ministry when I started preaching Now 50 years ago all preachers drove big cars they didn't drive a Prius Ford Falcon you know preacher pull up in front of your church in a falcon one of them dream catchers hanging around the window you knew that thing wasn't working or he wouldn't be driving a falcon you know so it didn't look like preacher kind of car you know you need the Buick or a Cadillac or big car you know because big cars made you look like big success you know and you didn't want to carry no little bible that's pathetic but Lieutenant I hate to tell you but your Bibles they'll use your Bible here it's real exactly but see preachers and when I begin they wanted a big Bible you want a big thumb index you wanted a bigger the Bible and you wanted a lot of bookmarks in it it looked like you've been studying you know you can't study but that thing because they're in the Bible like that you know you get out you get out of them you get out of a a Ford Falcon one of them little pocket Bibles you know got no bookmarks in it got nothing you know on it you wanna you wanna you want it big you want a nice black suit you know a big car nice big thumb index Bible you know when Thompson Chain you don't know handy Edition you want the big jumbo size you know one of them was it dakes and made a Bible thing weigh about eight or ten pounds you know but it made you look official man you rolled up in your Buick Wildcat you stepped out with your big thumb index Bible with 22. page has been over in it and that black suit on you just looks successful but I come to find after passing a few years you know big car what you needed was a pickup truck so he could haul lumber and concrete because you're gonna have to fix the steps at the church itself anyway you know so you don't need no black suit you need a pair of iron worker coveralls you don't need no Bible they'll be laying around the pews every place you can find the Bible anywhere you know you don't need both powerful they'll be laying every place what you need instead of a Bible is a good toilet plunger I'm not talking about one from Walmart I'm talking about one from a plumber supply one that's got an oak handle on it something you put around your wrist so it don't get away from you you know and you can I mean man you need to be able to suck a tennis ball out of a septic tank when you crank that thing buddy it oughta get on a pump you know because you can you can get it done without so I had to redo a lot of my thinking but I asked you tonight what is it that presses you forward in your ministry when the whisper of defeat says why don't you just give up what drives you to your knees for people who could care less about you and your family when you preach time and time again only to have your words fall on seemingly deaf ears what drives you to the pulpit to try again what urges you up from a hot meal with your family and out to the hospital to visit someone who never had time to come to church even on a pretty day why after you have preached your heart out with empty altars and not a token of thank you do you return to your place of apparent failure and cast your net and just do it all over again why after you have taught your class and dealt with those disrespectful students only to go home and get a phone call from an angry parent complaining of your unfair treatment you want to say your child has the attention span of a goldfish in the disposition of a wolverine and I think they got it genetically predisposed from you and your husband that's what you want to say but you say I'm going to try to do better I love you boy I love your boy and I'm going to try to do better what causes you to say that because when you tell your husband I'll tell you what I wanted to say I'll tell you what I should have said but you just don't say it what is it that hanging in front of you that keeps you from talking about wolverines and goldfish why as a pastor's wife ever listening to all the complaints of discontented saints whose sharp tongues cut to Ribbons all those you love is that it's just a sweet and kind of gentlemen spirit why when you feel like moving to the middle of Montana never having to see another human being you come back to the classroom and get back up on the piano bench and have another quiet rehearsal and study another lesson call another ladies meeting what passion gets you up out of a warm bed in the middle of the night to go to the bedside with a fevered brow of a drug addict and pray a prayer of faith knowing tomorrow he may be back on the street again looking for another hit what is it that hangs out in front of you and keeps that passion keeps you pulling the load of your ministry yourself what is it that pushes me and urges me and constrains me impels me and pressures me and what craving what passion compels me to pull the weight of my Ministry what is the carrot is it power is it Prestige is it recognition position prominence importance maybe Fame and Fortune the question that makes an answer is what do you want as a result of your ministry it is not uncommon for people to enter ministry under a delusion as to what the carrot really is then answer Peter and said unto him behold we have forsaken all and follow thee what shall we have therefore just trying to understand what are we going to get out of all this you know for three and a half years Peter had been following a carrot of his own making evidently the rich ruler had the carrot Peter had been following Peter's vision had been that the benefits of being an apostle would certainly outweigh the benefits of a fisherman and the young man was told to go sell the carrot and give it all to the poor he's the perfect candidate he's living the life that Peter had only hoped for he's the model specimen of Peter's hope to achieve he's the consummate contender to have reached the goal in Peter's vision he's the ideal nominee to set the standard for apostleship and Peter watched him walk away sorrowfully and it rung from the lips of Peter the mournful cry what shall we have therefore where are the benefits the compensation and the rewards when it's all said and done what can we call our own what at last shall we possess this is a little more disturbing than to realize someone just changed my perception of the carrot Abraham left the Earth of the chaldees with the carrot of God's promises making him a great nation I'm going to bless you I'm going to make your name great and thou shalt be a blessing But as time goes by the original carrot begins to lose its attractiveness kind of like the rag man's horse carrot begin to wilt Abraham has said goodbye to lot he's gone through famines and fought Wars and into a discouragement in The Lord of your ministry gets heavier than you ever expected it could be it's at those times in your life that Abraham begin to cry like Peter and said Lord God what will thou give me I want to know God what am I going to get out of all of this I'm fighting Wars I'm fighting discouragement I'm rescuing lot Hallelujah I'm trying to do the best I can I just want to know what am I going to get out of all of this through hard times and tests and Promises tend to lose their power to persuade compel and urge me forward the carrot you lose appetite for it perhaps I should have stayed in early caldes and got a job how many have ever thought about that in the Old Testament is God himself identifies the carrot that we provide all the passion for your priesthood first of all he wanted no mistake concerning what the reward would not consist of in numbers he said of the Lord speaking to Aaron thou shall have no inheritance in their land neither shalt thou have any part among them he wanted the priesthood to understand as a reminder don't let the devil dangle a cluster of lips in front of your eyes because that is not your inheritance don't let your wife fall in love in one of those houses you did not build for that is not your inheritance never get a thirst for the waters from Wells you never dug but that is not your inheritance tell your children don't be jealous of other children and their abundance because their abundance is not your inheritance remind your sons and daughters that because of who their father is there will be some things they will never have there are some places they will never go and there are some temporal Pleasures they will never know and there are some garments they will never wear then God did an amazing thing he ties himself to the string and hangs his majesty out in front of his ministers and he says I am thy part and thy inheritance among the children of Israel I am your inheritance I am the carrot that hangs in front of you and I am enough for you Hallelujah I am the only part you can count on as far as the future is concerned I am your inheritance I must be sufficient to get you up in the morning and start you on your way and tuck you in bed at night and to get up from your meals and pray for my people I am your inheritance you get me and I must be enough to compel you to hold your tongue but to speak when I say speak and love when I say love and give when I say give I am the carrot I hang in front of you and I must be enough for my priesthood thank you Jesus Hallelujah lift your hands and love the Lord just a moment I am the only part you can call your own as far as you can be seen as far as the future is concerned I am your inheritance I must be sufficient to get you up and tuck you in at night the carrot a list carrot alone must have the power to push and Propel and pressure and influence and create the passion you need to fulfill your ministerial duties I am your inheritance your reward is me and I am must be enough if there ever comes a time when I'm not enough and you look to the world for sufficiency you begin to look for whales and houses and Vineyards then you forfeit your priesthood I suppose the question that makes an answer is in what form did the priesthood get God as their inheritance back to my text and the priest that offereth any man's burnt offer you even the priest shall have to himself the skin of the burnt offering which he had offered certain sacrifices were shared among the priests as I said it was a common all men got to partake of it but the skin belonged to the priest who offered it it was not common skin it was unique skin it uniquely belonged to the man who offered it the only real reward for their labor was that the priest that offered a sin offering or a trespass offering how did that offering Hallelujah was given to God but then the skin in this specific offering was given to the priest who was willing to offer it I can almost here to priest murmur do you mean that you're telling me for all my loss my complete surrender my conforming and my yielding to the law into my call all I get are the skins this is supposed to inspire me to Bear the Tabernacle through the Wilderness do you mean I'm supposed to live my life or someone else and my reward or Skins are you kidding me this is the incentive for me to labor and toil expose myself to leprosy I'm supposed to go to a man's house and dig leprosy out of his walls and replace it with good stones and you're going to give me skin you're telling me that when man comes to me with leprosy in his garments and I'm supposed to fool around with a leprosy coat how did this got stuff growing in it and you tell me that I've got to rent it out cut it out wash it out fool with it and you telling me after I do all that you're going to give me skin you're telling me when the leper comes to me and it's got leprosy in his body I got to look at his scabs and examine the discharge from his body and after I've risked my life for him you're gonna pay me off with skin you're telling me that for my sacrifice and all of my labor and all the risk and all how are these skin supposed to get me up when I'm down how are they supposed to excite me when I'm depressed give me hope when things seem hopeless well but listen to me tonight don't sell the skin short these skins were not just any skins they were supposed to be perfect because in the skin lay the fiscal visible Merit of the sacrifice life was in the blood but the Perfection of the sacrifice was in the skin because it was spotless skin or supposed to be spotless skin because skin typified the life of a person life was in the blood but the Perfection of the Lamb was in the skin Satan said Lord Satan answer the Lord says skin for skin all that a man have would he give for his life I understand life was in the blood but the Perfection of the life was in the skin because nobody could see the blood but they could see the skin and it had to be perfect to be accepted by God Jeremiah said Can an Ethiopian change his skin or the leopard is spots because in the skin reflected the nature and the character and the disposition of the life of the body and the priest who offered the sacrifice bear the responsibility of the acceptability of the sacrifice if it's blind or broken or maimed it's got a wind or scurvy or scabbed he shall not offer these things to the Lord make nor make any offering of fire upon them upon the altar of the Lord so the priest's motivation for perfection in the sacrifice was not only to be accepted by God but the fact that the Skins would become his covering for him and for his family and for his home because the Skins Belong To The Man Who offered it because skins reflected the willingness to obey or repel these were the skins of sin offerings and trespass offerings that covered the sinless sacrifice that took away the sins of Israel Hallelujah they were the salvation of perfection to God's people David said I will clothe I will clothe her priest with salvation and her Saints shall shout aloud for Joy for her Saints talk about Zion Saints other than science priests Hallelujah the church Zion Saints Will shout aloud with joy there'll be a celebration of Victory because their priest comes walking in covered with an unblemished lamb because he covers the priests with the sinlessness of the sacrifice that has been offered up to God an anointed priest of God would not want to offer to God that which was blemished because if he had a blemished lamb and he offered the sacrifice to God God would not accept it but it didn't matter whether God accepted or not he had to take it home because that second sin belonged to him now you have identified yourself with Rebellion by not offering a perfect lamb unto me and it's not enough that I don't take it now you've got to take it because it belongs to you and you alone every lamb had a two-edged sword to it would God accepted doesn't matter if he accepted or didn't accept it the priest owned it now that belongs to you now if you skin it it's yours that's why every priest was very careful he wanted God to accept it but whether God accepted or not it still was his let me say to you the anointed priest of God would not want to offer his children nor his church of blemish skin the Spotless skin is a part of his inheritance don't clothe yourself in your family with less than Apostolic truth no skin every lamb presented just cause somebody presented it don't mean you got to skin it remembering our children and your church will wear it so you've got to be selective you've got to be scrutinized you've got to discriminate you've got to be cautious you've got to be judicial in your judgment because your church will be clothed with your choices your decisions you don't skin every lamb out of every book you read don't skid every lamb preached on YouTube don't offer every lamb presented by every television of hand just don't scared of a lamb offered by a young man that thinks he knows more than his old Pastor just because it's presented as revelatory and Progressive does not mean you have to skin it and make it yours because every lamb your skin is your personal possession and you have to take it home with you and your kids will wear it to school and your wife will wear it to town and you will wear it all the days of your life this is not something shared this is individual up to you as Ministry that you don't skin everything that's presented God won't accept it but you have to because if you skin it you wear it there's only one lamb fit covering for your church and your family the next day Jesus Jesus coming said unto him Behold the Lamb of God which taken away the sins of the world note it's not the lamb from God it's a lamb of God and little two-letter word not only indicates origin of indicates the component materials and if you want to know the component materials of indicates the hole that includes the part by the following word what is the following word of lamb of what is the following word God so the lamb is made of of the components and the same material as that from which it was made of therefore the Lamb of God is made up of God because it can't be of God and not be made up of God it is of god it is God manifest in the flesh only lamb or skinning it's the Lamb of God that takes away the sins of the world and you make it your own and you cover your family with it I may not be able to buy you the best of clothes I may not buy you the best of clothes but I'll tell you what I can clothe my kids with spotless Lambs I don't have to put spotted stuff on them I'm not going to offer God something I wouldn't take home myself don't you offer God something you wouldn't put on your babies don't you ever got something you won't take back to your church and close your church family with he's the Lamb of God just because somebody presents it doesn't mean you have to skin it was just not enough that God won't accept it it's the fact now you have to wear it because it's not a community thing let me see that my time is gone thank you Jesus thank you Jesus well this great Lamb of God you know I'm not telling to kill a blemish lamb don't kill a blemish lamb please don't just because somebody offered it don't even have to kill it yeah I'm scared let the blemish land live turn the blemish lamb back into the fold they go back into the fog you start killing all the blemish Lambs you'll decimate your flock he's only a few perfect Lambs only a few he'll kill the Purdue kill them Islam let Rahab live she ain't going to never be fit for sacrifice she'll never be fit to take away sins but let her live don't kill her let her dwell let her dwell into Israel the Bible said unto this day she married a man named Salman but let her live don't kill her because another little girl her name is Ruth she's a moabitus she's got a curse on her she's a product of incest but let her live don't kill her because she's blemished she's never going to be a fit sacrifice but don't you skin her don't you kill her you turn her back into the flock again because Ruth's going to come back to Bethlehem and she hears there's bread back in the Bethlehem she falls in love because Rahab and Salman have a little boy and his name is Boaz out of him Boaz has become a wealthy man and Ruth comes back Hallelujah here's a product of incest and a boy that's the son of a harlot they're going to have some Dandy kids you know that you've got harletory and incest getting together go ahead and stand with me you know what's going to happen you know what's going to happen they got blemishes all over their skin they ain't fit to be skinned they'll never be a sacrifice they got split hoofs and discolored eyes and winds and bruises and wounds and cuts and sores all over they're gonna be fit for anything you know but let them live don't kill them let them live let them live let them live because two blemish Lambs get together and you don't tell them what's going to come from two blemish Lambs two blemish Lambs they fall in love they get married they had a boy they named him Obed I hope it had a boy named him Jesse Jesse had a boy named David Hallelujah from which cometh the son of David that taken away the sins of the world the unblemished lamb Libby slams I said let the blemish lamb live cause to the priest goes the skin to the priest goes to skin you gotta blemish lamb lift your hands and love the Lord and praise him he said I am thy inheritance I am all you need I must be enough in your life to get you through Hallelujah Lay Your Hands on the man and woman next to you if it's convenient and pray for him right now I'm not going to skin everything that's offered to me I don't skin everything that's presented I want my children my family my church I don't want them covered with anything but the Spotless Lamb of God had taken away the sins of the world goes to the priest goes the skin
