Cry shout it like it's your battlecry today how about it let's shake hell up a little bit shout it again and clap your hands to Jesus woo hallelujah thank you Jesus come on let's clap our hands and Shout we'll never praise him enough we'll never worship him enough hallelujah amen you may be seated I have one little small consolation right now I know that there's nothing a person in this building that's envying my position if you think you have much to say after what we've heard and felt we probably wouldn't want to hear you I stand today I guess I'm more like the Apostle Paul than I ever have been in my life he said to the Corinthians he said I was with you in fear and much trembling so today I can identify with the Apostle Paul brother Anthony you've honored me today I watch good people and I copy them because God didn't bless all of us was some talents that he blessed others with but I gave me a brain smart enough to know if it's working why not try it yourself go to youth camps and watch brother Mangan back up in Arkansas and I'd go home and try to act just like him what what's wrong with that you're going to copy somebody just copy the good ones don't be ignorant and copy somebody that hadn't got anything going sister Mangan used to preach to me at Youth Camp I was 12 years old and she preached about home sickness to 12 year olds I stood in the line at the only pay phone on the Texas district Campground from here to that video camera I waited my turn to pick up that phone dial my dad who was laying in the bed 6 hours away and say Dad you got to come get me right now he said son I couldn't get there to Sun up I said if I knew you was coming I think I'd be all right but these people impacted our lives and they made us what we are through the help of God and brother Tenny my superintendent I never cease to be amazed at how God has used him to bless this district and not only our district but people everywhere I thank God for my Bishop brother Tenny I was a little bit afraid to preach this today so I only brought one message so I couldn't chicken out but if I get a little too far out on the limb you grab a hold of my brown suit I'm glad you wore brown that made me feel better already some of our young pre Preachers noticed brother Tom Barnes used to put his pencil his pen up here in his front pocket do you have it there today yeah see so we all started wearing ours and our front pocket around we wanted to be used of God so we thought maybe that was the secret so if I get a little far out on the limb pull my pull my coat I mean it I you going to shove me on out he scrambles eggs on purpose I scrambled them accidentally up here I wish my mom and dad could be with us today I'm a cry baby I can't help it he'd be so excited I'd have him sitting right there that's right saw 143 at 11 I got to go Wayne huntley's coming don't have to worry about you leaving I tell you these guys are sharp aren't they they know what they're doing Psalm 143 and11 said Quicken me Lord for thy name's sake I want everybody to say for thy name's sake for thy name sake I want to use that little phrase as a text today for my message for thy name's sake the living Bible says Lord saving me will bring glory to your name Psalm 106 and verse 8 said nevertheless he saved them for his name's sake that he might make his mighty power to be known for thy name's sake Lord bless us today bless us Lord help me to do better than I've ever done because I have a message I don't know how I can add to what's been said but let me impart something Holy Ghost yeah to this incredible congregation today yeah I pray in Jesus name and everybody said hallelujah hallelujah turn around to somebody and say for thy name's sake for name sake you may be seated I don't know about you but it kind of bugs me sometimes and I don't have to break the habit I can't even break it in my own life when when I hear somebody say we go to Pastor Dean's church we go to brother Dean's church or we go to brother Huds church or my neighbor brother Hank's Church Paul said in Romans 16 and16 the Churches of Christ salute you first Peter 5:5 the Apostle call it the church that is at Babylon in one time writing to in fimon chapter verse number two he said to our beloved AIA and he said and to the church in thy House 1 Timothy 3:15 he called it the Church of the Living God Paul and sylvanis and Timothy under the Church of the Thessalonians now in Colossians and in Revelation we read about the Church of the Leo Deans this is what worries me because the lukewarm church seems and appears to have been held in ownership by the people Jesus kind of set the record straight didn't he when he said Upon This Rock I will build my church it's not Pastor Dean's church it's not pastor mangan's church it's not pastor husp church it's his church and I am quite aware that in our fellowship we continue as separate and self-governing or autonomous churches and I have no quarrel with this so long as we all understand who the real boss is you see the manager can choose pictures anytime he wants if he wants to take somebody off the bench and put him in to hit for a home run hitter so be it he's the man manager he's the field manager he's the general manager Jesus is the owner he can do what he wants to do with this church it's for thy name's sake brother volto told us the other day about a promising young athlete who told Bobby Knight The Legend in Indiana the coach of the Indiana hooers that he would come and play at Indiana if he would let him put his name on the back of his jersey Bobby Knight told him there was only one important name at Indiana and that's the name on the front of the Jersey I've heard young preachers talking about their Ministry I don't know what's wrong with my Ministry why isn't my Ministry going anywhere you know Jesus God In the Flesh said I must be about my father's business if your ministry is not going anywhere you ought to make it his ministry we're talking about my Ministry and start talking about the father's business my sermon today is born out of a comment that Elder Mangan made a district conference several years ago in a message that he preached he said and I wrote it down I've never been able to get away from it Apostolic passion is an intentional deliberate choice you see some people who seem to be more passionate than other people remember if you remember nothing else I said remember what the bishop said Apostolic passion is an intentional deliberate Choice those words were burned into my conscience has nothing to do with your personality it has to do with choices you make that's right that's right it's a choice I remembered brother jtp saying at the Louisiana camp meeting several years ago in a message that the difference between the generation of Pentecostals that ushered him into the church and the church today could be summed up in one word and that is the word passion yeah I realize at the onset of my message that I am going to be called an idealist for preaching what I'm going to preach to you today but I'm going to ask you a question why is it that so many Pentecostals are So Satisfied to have church without true Apostolic Ministry in their churches our claim to fame is that we can trace Our Roots back to the book of Acts our our we had a track at World of flame several years ago maybe we still are publishing that track the name of that track was the original yeah Pentecostals that's our claim to fame we're the book of Acts Church in the 21st century Jerusalem is the mother of us all yes sir we believe the same Doctrine we have the same Plan of Salvation however might I suggest that if we're going to make the B claim that we are the original Pentecostals and that Jerusalem is the mother of us all it seems to me that we should never be casually concerned if many of us are content to have just good church week after week while sitting in our congregations is the man with a withered hand and the man possessed with the devil and they can sit quietly and worship with us and never find Deliverance never be set free never be healed I know I got to hurry so I'm going to read fast and preach fast Dennis and Katie Texas I read this in a book was leaving town on a business trip he remembered that he had forgotten to take some clothes to the dry cleaning but he had seen a sign down the road the sign said One Hour Martinizing he jumped in his car he ran to 1 Hour Martinizing brought in his shirts laid him on the counter and said I need to get these back in one hour and he was politely told he couldn't get it back in one hour he said but the name of your your company here is One Hour Martinizing and the man said that that's just the name of our store if we're going to make the boast that our ancestors are the apostles are we just going to put the name on the front of the church are we just going to walk the walk or don't you think from everything we've heard in this conference that it's time to quit just talking the talk and start walking the walk I heard char Grisham say several years ago I'm not going to condemn the men who can't quit smoking until I can pray the prayer of Deliverance and get the spirit of addiction out of his body I say it's time we start walking the walk and not just talking the talk and I'm not going to have all the answers today but I hope and pray that somehow in the Holy Ghost God will wake us up to realize we don't have to keep bearing our people to cancer George Barner said in his polls that the divorce rate among Believers pretty much equals the same as the unbelieving world he even said that those people who go and rent R-rated movies in the believing world are comparable to those in the unbelieving world who rate who rent R-rated movies now I realize that this poll takes in all all christiandom yeah but let us not be naive enough to think that we are so far removed from these horrifying sobering statistics we might be surprised if we knew what was going on among the Oneness movements can I take this a step further and suggest to you today that our medicine cabinets look no different than the medicine cabinet in the world of the heathens and yet we make the claim that we can trace Our Roots back to the book of Acts I wish I didn't know so many doctors by name in our city I meet them when I go to the hospitals and they come out of the surgery and talk to the family and many of the doctors and surgeons in Boer know who I am I'm embarrassed about that I'd rather be calling me to I've done all I can do would you come up here and pray for this man I told you you're going to think I'm an idealist today but I want you to hear me out I'm just asking the question how far back does our family tree go now I'm going to preach more to the 30 and under young men than I'm going to preach to anybody else today is that all right I'm going to preach more sit down everybody if you're 30 years old and under and you have a call to preach on your life I want you to stand up come on stand this meeting started out didn't it as a meeting to Young preachers praise God be seated I'm going to preach to you how far does our family roots go if someone would take out every incident in the book of Acts that was written in context with and surrounding Divine and Supernatural intervention it would necessitate removing entire chapters out of the book of Acts am I right and many verses would be taken out until we would only have a shell of this book written but Paul said in 1 Corinthians 4: 20 the kingdom of God is not in word it is in power The New International Version said for the kingdom of God is not a matter of talk but it's of power the New Living Translation said for the kingdom of God is Not Just fancy talk but it's living by God's power then I must deduct from this then it matters little who we say we are if we can't deliver the goods and if we can't walk in the power of the Holy Ghost would somebody shout hallelujah like at your battlecry today saddest words in Pentecost are we had a Revival yeah I know how it feels to say we had a Revival but I thank God that we are still in Revival now in B your city we don't have to go to church anymore wondering if the people are going to worship wondering if the people are going going to pray God has raised up something through many years of sacrifice and I stand on the shoulders of Great Men Who went before me God doesn't want us just to have a Revival God wants us to live in a Perpetual state of Revival where the reaper is overtaking the platter did not the bible say that of the increase of his government there shall be no in and now I'm hungry for Apostolic Ministry you fired me up yes sir Hallelujah we had a big sign in the front of our church passionately pursuing Apostolic Ministry I'm not just talking about everybody coming around the Altar and talking in tongues I'm talking about the five-fold ministry of the apostolic church I'm talking about the gifts of the Spirit I want to see signs Miracles and wonders I said I want to see signs wonders Miracles go ahead and call me a sign Seeker I'm going to set the record straight I am a sign Seeker I know somebody ready I I knew you going to call me an idealist I know someone's ready to jump up right now and tell me go ahead and shout it to me just shout it out to me that Jesus said it's an evil generation that seeks a sign I am a sign Seeker me too but I'm not seeking a sign for Jerry I was a Believer yesterday I'm a Believer today and I'm going to believe be a believer tomorrow if I never see another miracle I'm going to keep dancing if I never see another miracle I'm going to keep shouting if I never get my sign I'm going to keep preaching it because brother Pew I don't need the sign but I have something beating in my heart that said for thy name's sake too many people swearing by the name of the Lord too many people taking his name in vain I want to see a sign for his name name sake I'm not leaving this I'm not leaving I'm like David Smith told his wife evangelist David Smith somewhere out here he said if you run off with somebody I hope I like him he said I'm going with you and he said I hope he has a bath boat sometimes I ask myself are we destined to become cessationist I get tired of people finding Petty excuses for our lack of Miracle signs and wonders don't talk to me about Paul's Thorn In the Flesh you don't know what it was and I don't know what it was brother Treadway told us years ago he went to study and to find out what the thorn in the flesh was and he said I got me a stack of books about this high and I read everything I could find on The Thorn In the Flesh and when I finished reading I found out nobody else knew either don't send me any letters all right telling me what I need to tell Carolyn O'Neal who's coming to church with a tobogan on her head come on who stood in the front of our church and said I'm not taking chemotherapy who's got tumors in the right lung and tumors in the left lung don't send me something to tell her it don't work they've already read Psalm 103 and 3 they've already read 1 Peter 2 and 24 they've already read that as many as touched him were made whole I don't want your letter it don't work our Saints are getting too smart they're as hungry as we are to see the miraculous happening in our churches our general superintendent said at Toronto I've buried people to cancer on Friday and walked to the pop in on Sunday and preach that our God Is A Healer and I'm going to do it until I die but it is my intention today to stir up some young man Hallelujah at the beginning of his ministry to realize you don't have to spend your life preaching without seeing signs following your ministry come on somebody help me Preach Today come on you don't have to worry about it if you're going to give him the glory you ought to say Give Me A Sign Lord I want us to get passionate about it I know people unfortunately I Pastor some they have more passion over the kind of music We Sing during worship they're more stirred up about me not singing oh I want to see him then they are about seeing the move of God one of our sweet men came and told me the other day about another one of my sweet Men We were singing a song He sitting by him he said you can't even dance to that song now usually when that happens the man who's telling you wanted to tell you but he didn't have the guts to tell you so he tells you brother so and so said it I said he said that I've never seen him dance to any song and there's a footnote of that he hadn't I have a hard time getting him out of his pew when I'm preaching Call Me A Sign Seeker I'm acting like my kin folks I'm acting like my relatives you know what happens to us is we get a miracle and that satisfies us yeah one of the greatest Miracles recorded in the book of Acts was at the gate beautiful everybody in the town knew the man was a but when they saw him leaping and dancing and running in the temple the name of the Lord was praised and they brought him before the council and they brought him again and they threatened him and they said now don't talk any more about this man leave his name out of it and so after they left after being threatened they had a prayer meeting and they prayed together I don't know if it was the Holy Ghost interpretation of what was said or if they were also full of the Holy Ghost they were saying the same thing but the Bible said they prayed together and they said Lord the Heathen is Raging yeah now with just had one of the greatest miracles in the Bible but the next word out of their mouth was Lord behold their threatenings and Grant unto thy servants that with all boldness they may speak Thy Word by stretching forth thy hand to heal and that signs and wonders may be done by the name of thy holy Child Jesus and when they had prayed the house was shaken wherein they were assembled it's for his name's sake I'm going to act like my Kim folks I want boldness God confirm my word with signs following we don't have to be satisfied to have church as usual I wish somebody would shout it out for thy name sake sake shout it out for thy name sake children of God become discouraged understand that we believe in the five-fold ministry correct you know don't believe in it this is a bad place to be you need to go to some dead Holiness conference I didn't mean that like it sounded I promise take it out of the tape please God my wife said don't say something stupid I promise God call it any kind of conference we see I scramble eggs and I'm not even trying to Hallelujah do we believe in the five-fold ministry of the church I know the word Apostle means that he has sent one that is sent we can use that term rather Loosely but I'm asking you do you believe in the apostles do you believe in Apostles in the church today the Apostle Paul told Corinth there are signs of an apostle he said truly the signs of an apostle were rought among you in all patience in signs and in wonders and in Mighty deeds and I got on my knees a few weeks ago and I said oh God I don't have to be an apostle I'm not aspiring to be an apostle but would you send one by Boer because I got a lady dying of cancer and she's wearing a little cap to church and she's not going to take chemo I'm a sign Seeker I said I'm a sign Seeker I'm a sign Seeker I want an apostle I want Apostles in the church I want Apostles in the church I'm tired to burar my sweet ladies to cancer give me boldness Lord am I idealist or did I read these signs shall follow them that believe you know we preachers want to do that but we get uncomfortable if our lay people do it we want the gifts of the Spirit but we always want to be The Interpreter oh God I want to be an original Pentecostal I don't like people leaving the truth and going off to some church so they can lower their standards of Holiness and do what they want to do now I know we're not going to keep all of them but I just ask myself why not people say you can't keep everybody pastor but when it happens on my watch it bugs me when they walk away on my watch it bugs me and I go to my Altar and I cry and I say God this is the truth y'all need some reaffirmation here not for me I've already got it I've already told you I'm staying I'm not leaving I'm not going anywhere but help me reach out to somebody that's walking away from truth their souls may be weighed in the balance would you separate us oh God would you separate us notice the mothers in Israel Lord look at them explain to me how a woman can go hair down to her waist and have to live on Prozac you want me brother Tenny pull on me have to go to the doctor and get Xanax never cut the hair in their life come on on and their minds messed up it's not the will of God oh You' be all Pious you don't have anybody like that in your church no you're probably like me you just didn't know it until Revival came and the Holy Ghost delivered them and they testified about it I've got pills in my desk that people gave me hundreds of pills in my desk I still have them today unless I threw them away people came I didn't even know it it's not the will of God don't condemn him until you can pray that Spirit of depression offer of them I'm going to say it again don't condemn them until you can pray Deliverance into their life my God in heaven wake us up wake us up oh God wake us up oh God sit down men I want all you ladies to stand up I'm going to preach to you a minute I'll get to you young men in just a moment the ladies the Pentecostal ladies with your glory on the top of your head as far as I'm concerned you're the heroes of our Holiness message and I detest it when Pentecostal men look at worldly men and talk about how pretty they are it's a pet peeve of mine boy I kill this service these are our heroes when I walk through the mall they don't know I'm any different than anybody else but when our wives and our daughters walk through the mall they know there's something different about them that's right you're my heroes ladies Gina charity you're my heroes they're not embarrassed to walk through the mall with their jean skirt on and their long hair they've got the glory of God on top of their head if you can put 1 Corinthians 10: 11 up on the board I just stumbled on this the other day from the New Living Translation which I read a lot in my casual reading of the scripture the Apostle Paul said so woman should wear covering on her head as a sign of authority and we know what the covering is right he said because the angels are watching oh my God Professor Harvey Cox wrote a book called fire from heaven brother Tenny told me about that book I bought it and read it I read that book and in that book he has a chapter on the role that women played and the Pentecostal movement and he said Harvey Cox said if it had not been for the women Pentecost would have died out in America brother Tenny you told us sister Tenny told us that great scores of churches in Louisiana were brought into being because women were praying and seeking God then tell me how can it be the will of God for one of my women one of your women one of God's children with that long high power on her head with that covering on her head how can it be the will of God for that hair to go falling out because of some needle that's been injected into their arm I don't think it's the will of God don't send me a letter come have a prayer meeting with me save your postage let's get together for some fasting and praying until we can see the signs of an apostle in our churches is this all right Bishop is this all right I want I want my sweet wife and I want my sweet daughter to come up here come up here Gina and charity I'm going to give all you ugly men hope right here not only can you marry a pretty one you can bir the pretty one come here I want some of you big guys to come I shouldn't have said that but anyway everybody knows you're big come here come here I want them to get out on their knees brother brother Cunningham come here please Hallelujah I need some big guys the angels are watching I said the Angels oh sit down man sit down man I want the women up this is what the book said come here gather around them brother pew the man can stand up come here brother Tenny when they go down on their knees to pray when they bow their knees in intercession and I'm going to tell you nobody can pray like an Apostolic woman nobody can pray like an Apostolic mother nobody can do it and women when you go down to your knees the next time you pray I want you to remember what I'm telling you right now the angels are looking at you the angels are looking at you the angels are looking at you and you've got Authority that's what that word power means it's Authority you've got Authority on your head it's not the will of God for you to have tumors in your body come on I'm a sign Seeker I said I'm a sign Seeker I've been in the book too much I've read too much of the books that talk about healing that's right exactly right men give our ladies a hand would you love you B for his name sake woo we don't do a lot of Kingdom praying Kingdom pray oh a teacher came through Boer this summer and taught us on the prayer it's not the Lord's Prayer The Lord's Prayer is on over in John it's it's your prayer he said when you pray after this manner pray like this Our Father which are in heaven the little interpretation I understand is hallow thy name on the Earth thy kingdom come well I know you've heard it many times let me say it again you can't pray thy kingdom come until your kingdom goes and thy will be done on Earth and he said give us this day forgive us lead us not into temptation Deliver Us from Evil there are no personal pronouns in that prayer except when you're referring to him everything else is a plural pronoun it's forgive us it's lead us it's give us and I pulled out my little prayer Journal sister Tenny and I was embarrassed because it was all about me it was all about my body it was all about my family it was all about my children it was all about my church it was all about Jerry and I took my pencil and I started marking out me and I and I started putting in us hallelujah and when I pray brother Hy I pray that your church will outgrow my church I pray that you'll have signs wonders and miracles in your church he's not two miles down the road from me who gives who gives a flying rip if God wants to bring him Revival so be it it's for his name sake we want God to bless my church we want God to bless my people how about changing our minds to uses and start saying Lord bless us forgive us shout hallelujah like it was your Battle Cry skip over the next part brother Keys preached it last night you gave me boldness to preach this message Monday night you did I brought one sermon with me cuz I was afraid I'd chicken out I was I looked at that cabinet over there in my office I've got some at work that's kind of like David I hadn't proven this one now I did try a little bit of it out at home you got you can't be all the way stupid Paul said I'm not going to try it that way anymore Hallelujah he was at Corinth one year and 6 months but angel came to him and said don't be afraid to speak don't fear for your life I have many souls in this city it was because he said I didn't come with enticing words of man's Wisdom but I came in excellence not with Excellence to Speech but I wanted a demonstration come on let's have a a demonstration in our churches I said let's have a demonstration in our churches the kingdom of God is not in word it's not in what you talk it's what you walk I went over to hear Brother Barnes last Friday morning they were having a little meeting I heard about heard brother Barnes was teaching he's my neighbor 30 miles down the road and he preached on Fearless Faith y' ought to hear thisy he talks about stuff that we dream about he tells about miracles that we dream about brother Barnes told me one time there was a time when he had such an anointing to pray for deaf people am I telling the truth that he rejoiced when somebody called and said I'm bringing a deaf person that he would preach in Under the Tent and people would jump up who were deaf holding their hands over their ears saying I can hear and I'm laying there I'm sitting there listening to him teach I'm sitting on the back row I just kind of slipped in slipped out because I wanted to hear him teach and I said to myself I was praying I said Lord I want brother barnes's mantle I mean he can't live forever 90 he's only 90 of course he's only 90 years old never spent a night in the hospital I kind of like to hear what he has to say anybody here can say that you're 90 your hair is wide enough to be 90 brother rymes but you're not 90 I said Lord I want brother barnes's Manel now I'm fixing to preach to you young cats the Holy Ghost spoke to me brother Anthony and said you've never poured water on his hands see we want to hear about the Miracles but what most of you don't know is that when he was a boy he held his infant brother in his arms who had been H in a car wreck and a radiator busted and it spewed the hot water out on his little baby brother and he died in his arms with him praying God don't let my baby brother die what you don't know is he had an 8-year-old is that right sister was 9-year-old sister and she died with him pleading died to cancer with him pleading for God to heal her body what you probably hadn't heard is he had a 12-year-old sister and I heard him tell it I was at the foot of her bed I had both hands on her head bleeding with God to heal her when she breathed her last breath but he said said when she died I got up and went out across the creek as is what he said he crossed somewhere out there in the woods and he said God and brother barnes's words was I settle it I don't care if you ever heal anybody I'm going to preach healing I don't care what you you see you see listen to me just a moment brother Gerald traml who was his associate for years told us at a conference one time that when he was a lad and brother Barnes was pastoring in Pendle Arkansas up in the Ozark Mountains there was a place in the woods where Tom Barnes went to pray and the boys wouldn't go by it they would hear the old Pastor praying he was just a young man but it was Holy Ground and they wouldn't walk by it but we came out of our shoots at 20 years old and we wanted to turn the world upside down with Apostolic Ministry I'm going to tell you what I'd do if I was a young man again I'd get a hold of some Prophet I'd find me a bishop I'd wash my pastor's car I said I'd wash his car I'd his shoes I'd get a hold of somebody I'd quit talking about my Ministry and I'd get down on my feet and I'd take care of a man and then maybe then maybe when God gets through with him you can have his man you didn't like that did you you didn't like that did you you didn't like that young man cuz you got Ministry on your mind I'm going to tell you what Ministry was to Elisha he washed the prophet's hand until God was through with the prophet we came into the ministry back in the early' 70s I was 19 years old evangelizing when your Bible school pastoring when I just turned 24 should have been home pouring water on my Daddy's Hands should have been see I didn't think you were going to like this either cuz some of you are already tearing the world up but you better not get too far out there before you find somebody's feet to wash cuz the anointing always flows down and if there's nobody up on top of you you're in trouble I wish somebody you see we'd come through the latter rain I knew nothing about it my daddy never mentioned the latter rain but there was some kind of a hush hush put on the move of God and somehow another nobody taught me nobody preached it there were a few people like the Mangin a few people like the pews a few people like Tommy Kraft some of these guys they were preaching it but most of the time we were just satisfied to go and have church pray somebody through the Holy Ghost our people dying with sickness and disease am I preaching the truth and just offering kind all kinds of excuses well God wanted you more than we wanted you ignoring the word of God ignoring what the Bible has to say about Apostolic Ministry I wish somebody would
