guests here with us tonight and uh always love it when we have when we have a returning when we have a returning guest someone that comes once and then comes again and uh brother Barack it is so good to have you at First Apostolic church with us tonight he was here with us this morning would you give brother Brock and all of our guests a great big hand right now Acts chapter 4 verse number 34. neither was there any among them that lacked for as many as were possessors possessors of lands or houses sold them and brought the prices of the things that were sold and laid them down at the apostles feet and distribution was made unto every man according as he had knee and Joseph's who by the apostles was surname Barnabas which is being interpreted the son of consolation a levite of the country of Cyprus having land sold it and brought the money and laid it at the apostles feet my title tonight is simply at his feet at his feet pray with me now father I ask you tonight Lord to anoint my lips of play God I ask you tonight Lord to help me to be able to feed your people tonight Lord you said to Peter if you love me feed my sheep and Lord I Want to Love You Tonight by feeding these wonderful people God these people that love you these people Lord that have come to worship you tonight Lord I ask you Lord as before a church started when I had prayer with sister Briggs on the phone Lord I pray that you would continue to touch sister Briggs tonight Lord you know the situation in her body God I pray for sister Mitchie right now God that you would reach out and touch her God heal her body Lord touch us all tonight and heal our souls in Jesus name we pray before you see to give the Lord a hand of praise oh great is the Lord and greatly to be praised he may be seated at his feet I'm going to go ahead in just a couple of sentences give you the whole meat of this message tonight and simply is this it is possible to be Apostolic in Doctrine but not Apostolic in the spirit of submission it's very possible to be Apostolic in Doctrine while not being Apostolic in the spirit of submission Doctrine deals with what you believe in your mind while submission deals with your spirit and how it affects your behavior the apostolic Doctrine is we believe in one God the apostolic Doctrine is We Believe then Peter said unto them repent and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of your sin and you shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost the apostolic Doctrine says there's no other name under Heaven given among men whereby we must be saved the apostolic Doctrine says Hear o Israel the Lord our God is one the apostolic Doctrine says there's one Lord one faith and one baptism one God father of All Above All and is in you all that's Apostolic Doctrine that's part of it at least that's what we believe in our minds but Apostolic submission is totally different Apostolic Doctrine is something that we believed past tense we still have it now but we believed it years ago somebody brought it to us but Apostolic submission should not have an expiration date we must possess submission when we got in the church and it will take the spirit of submission to keep us in the church the spirit of submission deals with our spirit which affects our Behavior the wise man Solomon in Proverbs 16 and verse number 18 said it this way talking about it affecting your behavior Pride goeth Before Destruction and a haughty spirit before a fall the fall is the action the hulky spirit is the cause if they hadn't had a halty spirit there would not have been a fall because Doctrine is what we believe but submission is how we behave Proverbs 9 8 excuse me 16 verse 19 says better is to be of an humble spirit with the lowly than to divide the spoil with the proud a wise man said it's better to keep company with those who have a humble spirit it's better to rub shoulders with those who have the right spirit than to divide a spoil with the proud the Apostle James shines father light upon this doctrine of a humble spirit in James chapter 4 and verse number 5 it simply says do you think that the scripture saith in vain now James just starts off by saying do you think that the scripture just said in vain the spirit that dwelleth in us lusteth to Envy he said do you think the spirit just vainly said that you you think the Bible just vainly said that there is a spirit in you that is lusting to envy but he giveth more grace that word Grace there means strength anybody need more strength but he giveth more strength wherefore he saith God resisteth the proud but giveth Grace unto the humble submit yourselves therefore to God resist the devil and he will flee from you draw nigh unto God and He will draw nigh unto you cleanse your hands you Sinners and purify your heart you double minded James is trying to get us to see what Solomon was trying to get us to see is that there is power in an humble spirit there is power in a person's spirit that knows they need God it's tremendous power take you back 2 000 years ago to the early days of the Apostolic Church the Holy Ghost had filled them 120 quickly went to 3120 and in multitudes they ran into a problem historians tell us that thousands of people who had just come to observe Pentecost that thousands of people that had just come Jerusalem swelled on Pentecost celebration people came from miles around to celebrate Pentecost but this was a Pentecost like no other Pentecost the Holy Ghost came the church was birthed and people stayed in Jerusalem thousands of people with an experience but they needed to be fed they needed to be clothed they needed to be housed and that new church that New Apostolic Church opened up its arms to one another and if there was someone that had an extra room that's where that person slept that night if there was someone who had extra eggs and extra milk and extra water they just begin to distribute that as every man had need but in Acts chapter 4 we find that that does soon developed into a place called at the apostles feet for you see even good things must be brought under the harness of submission even something good something good has to be harnessed with submission and Acts 2 nothing is said about the apostles feet in Acts 2 nothing is said about this place of submission it was just people giving to other people but soon they found it very needful to create a location that was at the apostles feet men and women sold their possessions as Barnabas did he had land and he brought it he sold it and he laid his valuable price of the land he laid it at the apostles feet I want you to know something about the most valuable thing you have is not the amount it's in your checkbook right now the most valuable thing you have tonight that you possess is your spirit the most valuable thing you have right now inside of you is your spirit and if we can submit our spirit and connect our spirit to God anything is possible in our lives James or Barnabas brought something very valuable to him he laid it at the apostles feet he submitted himself because spring God has never seen a dollar amount to what God did not look upon the spirit of the one that gave it the Bible doesn't say God loveth an abundant Giver God just simply said I love a cheerful Giver because before God ever before God ever accepts the amount God is looking for the spirit most valuable thing let me say it again tonight the most valuable thing that you have that you can give to God is your spirit is your spirit he laid it down at the apostles feet there in Acts chapter 4. we hear of him again because I want you to know something people that possess a submissive Spirit get heard from again people that that allow God to connect their Spirit or they connect their spirit of God God has other things for them that's why in Acts chapter 13 and verse number 2 acts 13 and verse number 2. years later they're in a prayer meeting there has been this young Zealot Pharisee who has been wonderfully converted it's a dream of all dreams the church's Enemy Number One has been converted and Saul has been converted and Saul is now the Apostle Paul there's a prayer meeting going on in Antioch and as the prayer meeting was going on in Acts 13 and 2. as they minister to the Lord and fasted the Holy Ghost said separate me Barnabas and Saul for the work wherein to I have called them and when they had fasted and prayed and laid their hands on them they sent them away I want you to know something tonight there would have never been an acts 13 Barnabas if there had not first been an acts 4 Barnabas there would not have been a man that was yoked up with the Apostle Paul had there not been a man back in Acts chapter 4 that sold a piece of property the amount is not in this because if your Treasures is in this world you are all men most miserable your treasure has to be in God it has to be laid up where neither thieves nor rust nor moth can break through and steal Barnabas laid up his riches at the altar at the apostles feet that's why some chapters later God says I want that man can I tell you tonight if you're wanting God to use you in any capacity a number one thing is not Talent God doesn't look for talent God doesn't need talent God can give you talent but there's one thing that God won't give you God will not give you a submissive spirit that is something that you have to give God that's what God is looking for tonight stop feeling sorry for yourself and self-pity because self-pity in and of itself is a form of Pride just give God your submitted spirit and watch God open doors for you and watch God cause things to come out in your life watch God turn things around in your life and you'll all look back I laid it at the Apostle speech can you praise him tonight oh yes I love you God but no sooner is Acts chapter 4 over then we have to introduce you to Acts chapter 5. and that's chapter 5 and verse 1 begins like this but a certain man even the way that it begins is Shining Light on what Barnabas had done in chapter four Barnabas had brought the price of the land an entire spirit of free spirit a cemented Spirit a 100 submitted spirit and while I'm telling you this tonight the old-timers knew exactly what they meant when they would sing a song that went like this started out trying to make a hundred 99 and a half just won't do they knew something that God doesn't accept 99 and a half God doesn't accept us to give him anything unless it is 100 percent given to him you got to come to church on a Sunday night 100 I'm here to worship Jesus put a period at the end of it that's why I'm here to worship Jesus come on you got to grow up the preacher can't shake your hand the preacher can't Pat you on the back the preacher can't pacify you and change your diapers if you're not here to worship God it's got to be 100 percent I'm here to worship God 100 percent but a certain man but a certain man but a certain man named ananias was Safara his wife sold a possession and kept back part of the price his wife also being private to it and brought a certain part and laid it watch it now where do they lay it at the apostles feet but Peter said ananias why has Satan filled thine heart to lie to the Holy Ghost and to keep back part of the price of the land wait a minute that question needs to be answered why has Satan filled your heart to lie to the Holy Ghost and keep back part of the prize why did he lie to you you know why he lied you gave place to him if your heart is full of submission the devil has no place to come in you cannot come into something that is full but if the devil can listen if he can get a toe hold he'll soon wiggle and get a foothold and if he gets a foothold he'll wiggle and get a stronghold that's why you can't give him any of your life well I'm pretty good I'm 99 in this church you're on Dangerous Ground because the devil knows there's one percent that I can get into do you know why Satan filled his heart his heart was empty his pocketbook was full but his heart was empty there was a place there even the Bible says do not give place to the devil do you know that a wounded spirit is a breeding ground for the mold of sin to come in do you know that that an unforgiving spirit that somebody carries or a wounded spirit that somebody carries or a bitter spirit that somebody carries or or a sarcastic spirit that somebody carries do you know that is a breeding ground for the adversary to say I don't care if they do shout fifty percent of the time 50 the other 50 percent they're critical about this they're critical about that they're critical about this one and they're critical about that one and the enemy says I'll just keep moving in until I get a place that I can touch I want to go ahead and show you this right now the issue with ananias of Safara the issue wasn't greed of money it was a lack of total submission to their spirit it was not over money see the enemy likes to deceive you to think that your problem is really not your problem he likes for you to think people are your problem issues are your problem I don't like to think the way things are going around here is your problem those are not your problem those go away when you submit yourself to God 100 percent and a nicest fire did not have a greed problem they had a submission problem they wanted to appear to be all in but then and I said but verse 3 but Peter said ananias why has Satan feel thine heart to lie to the Holy Ghost and to keep back part of the price of the land whilst it remain was it not by known and after it was sold was it not in that own power thou Hast not lied thou hat why hast thou conceived this thing in thine heart follow this now thou Hast not lied unto men but unto God it's amazing when we're not submitted how we can really get carnal about spiritual things he said you you thought you were going to walk in here and lay this down and you look around here and you see this as just a man and the reason you see it is just a man is because you don't have a total spirit of submission yeah you got to take you in a nice you you didn't lie to you didn't lie to a man I know you thought you did but because you were not totally submitted you thought you were lying to a man but in actuality you were lying to God this is just a this is just a church full of people you know when when you can just get shy of full submission you can just see this is just another church abusing people but when you're submitted you go to the word of God I'm going to tell you what the church is tonight according to Psalms 89 and 7 it's the Assembly of the Saints according to Psalms 111 1 it's the Assembly of the upright Ephesians 1 22 is the body of Christ Isaiah 60 21 it's the branches of God's planning Revelation 21 9 it's the bride of Christ Acts 20 28 it's the Church of God first Timothy 3 15 it's the Church of the Living God Hebrews 12 23 it's the Church of the firstborn Hebrews 12 22 it's the city of the Living God Psalms 149 verse 1 it's the congregation of saints Psalm 74 19 it's the congregation of the Lord's poor I think I fit in that congregation Solomon 2 14 it's the dove Ephesians 3 15 it's the family in Heaven and Earth Ezekiel 34 15 it's the flock of God John 10 16 the fold of Christ Hebrews 12 23 the general assembly of the firstborn Revelation 120 a golden Candlestick First Corinthians 3 9 3 9 God's church or God's Building First Corinthians 3 9 God's husband Tree Joel 3 2 God's Heritage Ephesians 2 22 of the habitation of God Galatians 4 26 the Heavenly Jerusalem Revelation 21 2 the holy city Zechariah 8-3 the Holy Mountain Psalms 15 1 the Holy Hill I'm going through all this because I got to get us to understand this isn't just a place of people to every man that will ever be honored to Grace this Pulpit this is not just people this is the Holy Mountain the Holy Hill the hill the house of God the house of the god of Jacob the house of Christ the household of God The Inheritance the Israel of God King's Daughter Lamb's wife lot of God's inheritance Mount Zion mountain of the large house New Jerusalem pillar and grounds of Truth the sanctuary of God the spouse of Christ I'm just going to church I'm sorry you're not I'm so sorry you're not thank you thank you so much First Apostolic Church and to any man that's honored to dress this Pulpit when you Grace this pulpit and look out over this congregation it's not just people if you if you are less than submitted you'll see him as just people you'll see the church as well the the attendance was a little off tonight or or you'll see people as troubled and you'll see people what are they wanting and when you ever get In a Pulpit and you're not submitted that's the way you see them but oh they're the vineyard they're the Temple of the Living God they're the temple of God they're the sought out a city not forsaken the spouse of Christ thank you First Apostolic Church thank you trendsetters for every year in the month of October Pastor appreciation month there's not there's not just a little a little little thumb sketch there of a pastor there's not just one there the congregation here stands out in the community because the trendsetters go around they take up money and they get a full page ad of the memorable miracle and Pastor such Carpenter and brother Ericson the Pastoral team brother Hammond brother Nolan and and they say nice things about us in the paper can I tell you First Apostolic church thank you so very much for the way that you view the ministry here because you don't have services like this morning with the congregation that see just sees the preacher as just somebody we can hire or fire somebody that we can half Listen to If we want to no no no no can I tell you oh my God that's what sets First Apostolic Church apart I said a lot of things that the church was through scripture but let me tell you what the pulpit is let me tell you what the men of God that preached the gospel second Corinthians 5 20 ambassadors for Christ Revelation 1 20 angels of the church Luke 6 13 Apostles Titus 1 1 Apostles of Jesus Christ Philippians 1 1 Bishops acts 6 1 deacons First Timothy 5 17 Elders Ephesians 4 11 evangelist Matthew 4 19 Fishers of Men Matthew 9 38 laborers Second Corinthians 8 and 2 messengers of the church Malachi 2 7 messengers of the Lord's host I could go on and on and on and on Jeremiah 3 15 pastors Romans 10 14 preachers Titus 1 1 servants Philippians 1 1 the Servants of Jesus Christ Jeremiah 23 4 Shepherds I know you'd get tired of this I could read and read and read but you know what was part what was analyze's problem he just saw the church as a bunch of people he just saw the apostles as a bunch of ordinary men so he brings less than his best to God his story doesn't end well acts 5 5 and ananias hearing those words fell down gave up the ghost great fear came on all them that heard these things young men arose wound him up carried him out and buried him it's about the space of three hours after when his wife not knowing what was done came in Peter answered unto her tell me whether you sold the land for such so much and she said yay for so much then Peter said unto her how is it that you have agreed together to tempt the spirit of the Lord behold the feet of them which have buried thy husband or at thine at the door and shall carry thee out then she fell down straightway at his feet and yielded up The Ghost and the young men came in and found her dead and carried her forth and buried her by her husband isn't that amazing they both brought it at the apostles feet one man goes on to be the teammate for the Apostle Paul why two of them go out to a cemetery what a legacy to leave behind what a legacy to leave behind I preached with the Apostle Paul what a legacy for barnabas's grandkids to hear about what a legacy for barnabas's great-grandchildren to hear about when barnabas's great-grandchildren walked into an Apostolic Church somebody said I remember when your papa came to our city with Paul and preached the gospel what a legacy to leave behind I don't want to leave behind a legacy oh my mom and dad are not with us anymore because they lied to the Holy Ghost they were not fully submitted to God and can I tell you when it comes to backsliding they can bring they can blame everything from a mate leaving them they can blame the apostolic standards they can blame they can blame it on a lot of things I I didn't like the way this deal went down or I didn't like the way that deal went down but you looked up here at me tonight you leave the house of the Living God and it's for one reason and one reason only you do not have the spirit of submission I know you know how about sometimes I know you know how to speak in tongues I know you know how many gods there are I know you know all these things but do you have Apostolic submission that's what I want to ask let me tell you what Apostolic submission can I just give you a little bit of a taste of what Apostolic submission is Apostolic submission is that if you're able to walk if you're able to walk your pastor wants you to come down around the altar when it when the preaching's over if you're able to walk if you're able to walk your pastor wants you to come down maybe you can't get in the uh altered area but just at least get out in the aisle at least do something to show that hey I'm going to come because I'm going to tell you something there is nothing any more pitiful than an empty altar at a Pentecostal Church now some of you think some some of you see we're so sheltered that we don't we don't understand I travel places that you can't get them in the altar it's like would y'all come to the altar it's like they ain't coming to the altar I mean unless somebody bachelins there or their their daughter that come back to the Lord is that now that and then they're going to run the altar but we shouldn't just go to the altar because a sinner has come we shouldn't just come to the altar as far as I know I still need the altar I still need the altar now unless you are not physically able to get down here I totally understand that but if you're able to walk of course well well actually what I can I can pray just as good back here right there is what I'm talking about right there is what I'm talking about because you've got in your mind I I I just doesn't matter it doesn't matter because he's just a man he's just a man up there no he's not just a man he is a man that is watching out for your soul he he Ard come on folks all right I'm talking about Apostolic submission again I know you know how many gods there are you knew how many gods there are before I ever saw the light of day but what I want to ask you right now I want to ask you do you have the submission is it amazing is it amazing we'll get sick and go to a man that we really don't know he'll stick his head in the door and tell us to take off all of our clothes and put a give give us a paper nightgown to put on he'll walk in thump on our knees stick a popsicle stick down her throat scramble on a piece of paper we can't read it tell us to do this three times a day we'll shoot off to the pharmacist that's another person we don't know they'll give us a medicine and isn't it funny to hear us Hillbillies try to pronounce medical terms we'll just do it we just do it but yet a man of God who's got your soul on his mind he says lift your hands I don't want with my hands that's what I'm talking about he says cry out to the Lord get a prayer life be faithful to the house of God come up around the altar well I can pray back here that's what I'm talking about that's what the adversary looks for because he sees that one little part and one little part Apostolic at his at his feet Ruth was a moabite one day in her City came walking in a husband and wife and two two boys Ruth the moabite would marry one of the boys years later Naomi her mother-in-law would suffered the death and the loss of her husband Ruth stayed with her be a few years later that Ruth would suffer the loss of her husband and when Naomi was left with no one but herself and her two daughter-in-laws who were husbandless Naomi says I'm going back I'm going back I'm going back to Bethlehem just to shorten the story Ruth had tenacity she was a moabite she was a sinful a sinner woman but there was something about her mother-in-law that she made this Proclamation you hear it a lot of marriages where you go I will go and where you Lodge I will lies and your people shall be my people in my your God will be my God and where you die there will I die and there will I be buried and Naomi saw that she was steadfast-minded and Naomi took her to the field took her back to Bethlehem Naomi whose name means Pleasant and sweet when Naomi and Ruth entered the gate at Bethlehem someone Cried Out is that Naomi she said don't call me Naomi call me Mayra for I went out of this place full and the Lord has brought me back empty I left this place full I had a husband and two sons the Lord has brought me back empty they go inside the Gate of Bethlehem and it's barley season it's the Harvest of The Barley bread Ruth goes out to a field because in the Bible days that was their way of taking care of the widows and the poor at Harvest time they allowed the widows and the poor to come into the field and reap the corners Ruth finds herself in a field as she works from the morning to the evening a man came walking into the field that was the owner of the field his name was Boaz Ruth the moabite she's ignorant about a lot of these laws in in Israel was one law in the book of Deuteronomy that said if your brother died and your brother hadn't raised up seed that the next of kin or the Kinsmen Redeemer was to take the wife of the deceased and raise up a son in his name the name of the deceased Boaz notices Ruth and Boaz hears Ruth's testimony Ruth left her Homeland Ruth left it to come here so then Boaz without Ruth hearing it Boaz tells the servants says I want you to take handfuls of grain and I want you just to it says handfuls of purpose I just want you to pitch it out to the moabite girl don't don't rebuke her let her get close to the Reapers don't rebuke her while a letter even said at the table and drink water and eat bread she reaped that day and the only way I can get us all to understand it is what she brought home to Naomi that day should have just been enough brother Ben for a couple days meal but she brought six buggy loads from Kroger she walked in the house where Naomi was at and Naomi was expecting just to get just enough for a day or two and here comes Ruth in she's got all this food and the first thing Naomi said was where did you glean today where in the world have you been today and she said oh I I've been in this man's field by the name of Boaz Boaz told me not to go to any other field and Boaz it's his field and Ruth or Naomi excuse me Naomi began began the first matchmaking business she began to put it together Boaz is a near Kinsman Ruth Could Be the One and so Naomi tells Ruth the daughter-in-law says now I want you to say tonight is a festive night says Boaz Boaz they're harvesting and they're going they're going to have a feast said I want you to go down and I know the Customs are different to us the Customs are different I'm just trying to drive one point home just one point home Customs are different she said Naomi said to Ruth said I want you to go down and said don't let him notice you but find out where he's going to lay down to sleep that night and when you find out where he's going to lay down and sleep go softly unto him and uncover his feet and lay down at his feet lay down at his feet and when he awakes because the cool crisp air is going to blow across his feet and he's going to awake Customs are different I'm just looking for one point here when he awakes he gonna shut up and he gonna find you laying his at his feet and when he sets up and says who are you you say I am Ruth and you're the near Kinsmen place your skirt over me that was have I said this enough Customs are different I'm driving from one point here she said if you're gonna do this said be at his feet be at his feet when he wakes up you say I'm Ruth I I am Ruth spread your skirt over me spread the blanket over me propose marriage to me now notice where she said I want you to go sister Carpenter she said I want you to go Place yourself at his feet say don't she said don't you go down there and lay face to face with him because you go down there and lay face to face with him he gonna think of Harlot done God in his tent all right he don't need to wake up and see you face to face if God is going to do anything with you Ruth he's got to wake up and find you at a place of submission that's the point I'm at I want God to find me at a place of submission God the way is hard God I've got some things in my life I need help I need h-e-l-p I need help and God says I want to find you in a place of submission and I will give you help oh you submitted enough to praise him are you submitted enough to worship Him are you submitted enough tomorrow morning to get up and say God I'll put some time aside because I've got to have you God can we carry the story on she goes down there and softly creeps over picks up the blanket might have thought so about his own gnarly toenails that needed worked on but anyway picked up the blanket and she laid down his feet the wind started blowing old bowass set straight up who are you I'm Ruth spread your skirt over me and propose marriage to me you're a near Kinsman and he said oh that I am I am a near Kinsman Miss Ruth we got one problem here there's a Kinsman nearer than me there's somebody closer in the bloodline to me and said I'll tell you what let's do Ruth I'm going to tell you right here and right now I'm gonna go see if that near Kinsmen will do the work of the Kinsmen Redeemer if he will you're getting married if we don't you and I getting married and the next day oh my ass got up and went down to the gate because that's where you do the business at you do the business in the gate that's where we're at tonight we're not in any ordinary building thank God for these clouds thank God for these strains thank God for this sound system thank God for this plush carpet but oh it's greater than that it's the house of the Living God it's the place of spiritual transitions happen in this house he goes down to the gate the next day because that's where you do your business at and that never kinsman redeemer came by don't even
