want you to know tonight that the only thing standing between you and a miracle tonight is Faith the only thing standing between you and what you need or if you're like me what I want to be I can't tell you what I need I don't know that I need anything to tonight but I know what I want to be I want to be a witness for Jesus Christ I want to be a walking breathing testimony of the great power of God I want Jesus Christ to flow through me to touch every person in our community to let the Lord change their life tonight the only thing standing between you and what you need tonight is your faith and I do feel very strong in my spirit tonight do you know the purpose of having Church would be the obvious why yall here tonight we're here as a corporate body to give praise and honor and glory to Jesus Christ because he's worthy of it tonight we're here tonight for no other reason but to give him praise but a benefit to that is simply this of the hundreds of people that have showed up tonight if there's just one here that has a need Jesus has got his eyes on you tonight I said Jesus has got his eyes on you tonight if you were the only person in the world in the history that would say yes to the gospel he would have died and did die for just one soul to come to him if you have your Bibles tonight turn with me to the book of Acts chapter number three and verse number one while you're looking for that chapter and going to that place in scripture I want to say thank you to the choir and thank you to the Musicians I want to say thank you to all the people that Faithfully come to the house of God I'm going to tell you something as your pastor I get excited and encouraged when I drive on to the parking lot and families are making their way across the parking lot I get excited when I open up a prayer room door and it sounds like the Roar of a rushing Mighty Wind coming out of that prayer room door I get excited for all the things it takes a lot of takes a lot of work to have a church like this I today we had um a memorial service for a little baby Samantha and um will um God chose to take the baby directly from the womb to heaven and at 1:00 in the connect room we had a memorial service and many of you saints were here and then after that uh there was a dinner prepared and many of the people here at the church prepared the meal and served the meal and while that was going on you could hear the sounds of drums and bases bass players up in the U student Sanctuary where the uh Hispanic service was going to start there's just a lot there's a lot going on Amen and I'm I'm so thankful just want to tell you thank thank you for all of the hard work acts chap 3 and verse number one now Peter and John went up together into the temple at The Hour of Prayer being the ninth hour a certain man lay from his mother's womb was carried whom they laid daily at the Gate of the temple which is called Beautiful to ask arms of them that entered into the temple who seeing Peter and John about to go into the temple ask an arms Peter fastening his eyes upon on him with John said look on us and he gave heed unto them expecting to receive something of them then Peter said Silver and Gold Have I None but such as I have give I Thee in the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth rise up and walk and he took him by the right hand and lifted him up and immediately his feet and ankle bones received strength and he leaping up stood and walked and entered with them into the temple walking and leaping and praising God go to verse 16 verse 16 of the same chapter and his name through faith in his name hath made this man strong whom you see and know yay the faith which is by him hath given him this perfect soundness in the presence of you all a simple title tonight faith in the name Faith in the name father I love you tonight Lord I believe with all my heart that your name carries tremendous power behind it Lord I believe in your name tonight I believe in the miracle working power that your name can perform Lord tonight in this house I ask that you would touch that individual that's here tonight Lord that is in need Lord that you would draw them to an altar and a Connect ction of Faith you would touch them with your Mighty power you would touch them with your Mighty hand and we will give you all the praise and we will give you all the glory in Jesus name I pray now I want you to give him a hand of Praise a hand of Thanksgiving come on give him a hand of Praise right now how many knows that God is about to do something great in this house tonight oh yes you may be seated faith in faith in the name let me just quickly go back over the event that transpired Peter and John were on their way to the temple at The Hour of Prayer there had been for sometime a certain lame man whom the Bible said was lame from his mother's womb he had never taken a step he had never walked he was lame from birth he was carried there daily to do the only occupation that he could do and that was to beg for money beg for arms of them going into the temple on this certain day as Peter and John were making their way into the temple the Bible said that Peter fastened his eyes upon this man he fasten fastened his eyes upon this man and he said three words look on us look on us the man no doubt begin to look their way and the Bible said expecting to receive something of them expecting to receive something from them and then Peter starts and he says Silver and Gold Have I None but such as I have give I Thee in the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth rise up and walk and then Peter proceeded to take him by the right hand and Peter lifted him up or begin to pull him up and in the midst of pulling him up the Bible said and immediately his feet and his ankle bones receive strength and the Bible said that the man leaping up stood but he not only stood he began to walk now there's more of a miracle here that meets the eye not just that the man was healed of that of the of being paralyzed and unable to walk but the man what normally takes about nine months to a year for a child to learn how to walk God did an instant Miracle upon this man and he walked in a matter of a few seconds could we give God some praise for what he has done tonight he leaping up walked and entered with them into the temple walking leaping and praising God no doubt this would arouse a lot of curiosity among them that had passed by this man on a regular bases that was asking for money but he is not lame anymore he is now a worshipper inside of the temple they are much amazed at this and begin to look upon Peter and John as though they were some great ones I'm going to tell you something we'll stop here for just a moment anytime God works through a man or a woman a true man of God or a true woman of God will immediately reflect the glory to God anytime God begins to use a man or a woman if they're a true man of God or a true one of God they will immediately begin to shine it back to God because we know that we're nothing without the power of God All We Are Tonight is a conduct through which the power of God can flow tonight it's he his name that has the healing power Peter said to them why do you look upon us as though we're some great ones and then he said the scripture and his name through faith in his name now I submit to you tonight when I say faith in his name I do not believe that lame man had any faith in the name of Jesus as a matter of fact I believe the lame man knew very little about the name of Jesus I believe he knew very little about the name of Jesus I believe the faith that Peter is referring to Here In this passage of scripture is the faith faith that Peter had in the name of Jesus you see tonight Church the only way that we're going to change our world is to have faith in the name of Jesus the only way that we're going to make a difference in the people around us is to believe that we serve a god whose name is Jesus and at the name of Jesus atmospheres begin to change at the name of Jesus two people having coffee together talking about the word of God at the name of Jesus it's not only two people it's two people and the Mighty God that's able to move in the house I believe in faith faith in his faith in his name Peter was very quick to tell them that it was the faith in the name of Jesus Christ it was Faith through the name of Jesus Christ Jesus when speaking to Nicodemus in John John CH 3 verse number 18 Jesus tells Nicodemus this about his name he says he that believeth on him is not condemned but he that believeth not is condemned already what would condemn him because he hath not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God can I tell you tonight everything starts at the name of Jesus everything starts at the name name of Jesus Jesus had been crucified Jesus had rose from the dead Jesus had appeared to the disciples but there was one disciple that lost all faith and he was no longer joined with the group his name is Thomas Jesus appeared to them and they later would tell Thomas that Jesus had appeared Thomas made the statement except I can take my hand and thrust it into his side except I can take my finger and fill the prince of his hands I will never believe John chap 20 and verse number 26 the Bible said and after eight days again his disciples were within Thomas was with them then came Jesus the doors being shut stood in the midst and said Peace be unto you then saith he to Thomas reach reach hither thy finger and be behold my hands Rich reach hither thy hand and thrust it into my side and be not faithless but believing now you remember Thomas said unless I can put my hand in in his side unless I can put my finger in the prince I W not believe Jesus appeared to to Thomas and said Thomas here I am go ahead and put your hand in my side and feel my hands Thomas never touched Jesus Thomas never touched him Thomas simply believed what he would see and Thomas answered and said unto him my Lord and my God Jesus sath unto him Thomas because thou Hast seen me thou Hast believed blessed are they that have not seen he talking about us blessed are they that have not seen yet believe I stand tonight and I represent this congregation I've never visibly seen the Lord Jesus but I want you to know that I believe with everything I've got and willing to live my life that 2,000 years ago God came to this earth in the form of a man some people say that the greatest day in history was when man walked on the moon but you're wrong the greatest day in history is when God walked on the earth I believe 2,000 years ago that the creator of the earth came was born through the Virgin Mary grew up and gave his life and through faith in his name we have salvation tonight would you give him a thunderous praise tonight in this house come on it's all about Jesus come on it's all about it's all about Jesus now it's amazing that verse 29 says that Jesus said Thomas go ahead and then verse 29 he said be because thou has seen thou H has believed and blessed blessed are they that have not seen that's us and have yet believed but verse 30 is intriguing because watch how quickly verse 30 changes the subject and many other signs and many other signs that word signs there can also be used as evidence and many other signs or evidence truly did Jesus in the presence of his disciples which are not written in this book but these are written that you might believe that Jesus Christ is that Jesus is the Christ the son of God and that believing you might have life through his name it's amazing how quick it goes from Thomas confessing his faith in the Resurrected Christ to John explaining that many other signs and look at that verse 30 many other signs many other proofs of evidence well what kind of proof that you do you have that Jesus is God what kind of proof that you have John 2 1-11 he turned the water into wine John 4: 46-54 he healed a nobleman's son John 5 1-15 he healed a man the pool of Bethesda John 6 1-14 he fed 5,000 with just just a few Loaves and Fishes John 6:15 through 21 Jesus walked on the water John 91-12 he healed a man that was born blind John 11 1-44 he raised Lazarus that had been dead four days and the last sign that he gave was the sign of his death burial and Resurrection can I tell you tonight if you want to know why I believe in that name I've got a lot of evidence that I Believe In The Name of Jesus this name this last sign this evidence Luke 11 verse 29 listen to Jesus Luke 11:29 and when the people were gathered thick together he be to say this is an evil generation they seek a sign they seek for evidence and there shall no sign be given it but the sign of Jonah the prophet for as Jonah was a sign unto the ninevites Jonah was a sign unto the ninevites so shall also the son of man be to this generation now there was no sign that was going to be given to our world except the sign of Jonah the prophet now how does Jonah and Jesus Christ alike how is Jonah and Jesus Christ alike well here it is here's one of the first signs Jonah is on board that ship that ship is about to cap siiz and everyone on board is about to drown but Jonah speaks up up and he says if you will throw me overboard the storm will stop if you will throw me overboard everybody else on this boat can live if you will throw me overboard the wrath of God is angry with me because I should have went to Nineveh and if you'll throw me overboard then all of you can be saved and I can give my life for you Jesus Christ Jonah gave his life to appease the wrath of God from coming upon others and Jesus Christ laid down his life because we are sinners in the hand of an Angry God and had not he came and gave his life for us God will still would still be looking at us through the lens of Fury and through the lens of Ang anger but thanks be unto God he gave his life for us that we could live a life more abundantly he loved us not because we first loved him because he first loved us could you lift up your hands and could you give him praise tonight could you give him praise tonight could you give him praise tonight oh yes Jonah was three was three nights three days and three nights in the belly of a well Jesus was three days and three nights in the belly of the earth when Jonah was spit out of the well Jonah went to Nineveh Jonah went to Nineveh and Jonah preached for 40 days to repent the Bible says that when Jesus came out of the Tomb Acts chapter 1 1 verse number three when Jesus came out of the Tomb to whom also he showed himself alive after his Passion by many infallible proofs being seen of them how many days 40 days and speaking of the things pertaining to the kingdom of God and being assembled together with them commanded them that they should not depart from Jerusalem but wait for the promise of the Father which saith he you've heard of me Jonah came out of the fish's belly and preached for 40 days Jesus came out of the grave and showed himself alive for 40 days there's a likeness here Jonah gave himself to appease the anger of God so everybody else on board could live Jesus gave his life so you and I could have our Abundant Life Jonah preached for 40 days Jesus showed himself alive for 40 days what else the book of Jonah ends with a self-righteous judgmental man wanting the spirit of judgment to fall upon the ninevites Jonah the Book of Jonah ends with Jonah wanting fire Jonah wanting the ninevites to be destroyed but the gospel doesn't end with the spirit of judgment coming the gospel ends with Jesus saying but the promise of the father father is given unto you he said there's no evidence that you're getting other than the sign of Jonah the prophet but let's return back to the name this evening the name goes all the way back to Genesis chap 4 and verse number 26 sin had began to Ravish and rape Humanity sin had already produced Disobedience and sin had already produced the first murderer sin had already divided the family but in Genesis 4 and verse 26 the genealogy says into Seth to him also there was born a son and he called his name Enos inos then began men to call upon the name of the Lord as early as just a few a few days or months after after they were expelled from the garden men began to see their need to call upon the name of the Lord you may ask me tonight what is so important about the name of the Lord hear me this evening the name of the Lord is the true center of our fellowship we Fellowship around the name of Jesus for there is salvation in no other for there's no other name under Heaven given among men whereby we must be saved I'm sorry tonight I'm not into titles I'm into a name I'm not into referring to him as the man upstairs I'm into the name I'm not I'm not into I'm not into acknowledging him as my savior I'm into the name I like to speak the name I like to talk about the name name of Jesus because you're looking at one 5 foot 7 inch greeneyed preacher that believes there's power when we talk about the name of Jesus and can I tell you we can have the deadest church service that could ever be but let's somebody begin to talk about the name of Jesus and something begins to happen in the midst oh come on give him praise right now with me tonight oh the name of Jesus the name of Jesus brother Hammond the name of Jesus is our fellowship it is the center of our fellowship because when we talk about the name we talk about Revelation and when we talk about the name we talk about Redemption and when we talk about the name we talk about promise can I tell you when we talk about the name there's a revelation of who God is that comes our way and when we talk about the name we're talking about a redeeming God and a god of Promise Moses stands in a burning bush and in Exodus chapter 3 verse number 13 I want you to hear this now in Exodus chapter 3 verse number 13 Moses stands at a burning bush and Moses said unto God behold when I come unto the children of Israel and shall say unto them the god of your fathers have sent me unto you they shall say unto me what is his name what shall I say unto them can I tell you the name of God isn't God too many people think the name of God is God the name of God is not God that is a broad title that covers just any deity that there could be but when you begin to talk about the God you begin to talk about the Lord because our God has a name if God was his name Moses asked a ridiculous question say if I say the god of your fathers hath appeared they'll say what is his name that God is not a name but listen to God in verse 14 and God said unto Moses I am that I am and he said Thou shalt say unto the children of Israel I am hath sent me unto you God said moreover Moses thus shalt thou say unto the children of Israel the Lord God of your fathers the god of Abraham the god of Isaac Isaac the god of Jacob has sent me unto you this is my name forever and this is my Memorial unto all generations he said I am Jehovah I am because I am I am Jehovah behold on I am Yahweh hold on just a moment you go tell them that I am Yahweh I want you to know tonight that Yahweh was not a new name nor an unknown name it appears more than 160 times in the Book of Genesis Moses mother's name was joed which means Yahweh is my glory Moses and Israel knew the name Yahweh God did not give Moses a previously unknown name of God but the name they had known before God called them back to the faith of the Patriarchs and not to something that was new can I tell you tonight A lot of people come to church looking for a new message looking for a new illustration looking for a new rabbit the preacher is going to pull out of his hat on a Sunday night to keep your attention but God didn't call me to babysit God didn't call me to change diapers and pacifiers God called me to preach the mighty name of the Lord Jesus I believe what the apostolic church needs tonight is not a new revelation but it's a Revival of an old Revelation this thing works Church you hear me this thing works the name of Jesus works oh I wish somebody would get on their feet and begin to praise him with me a little bit tonight come on say the name of Jesus there's power in that name there's anointing in that name there's comfort in that name there's everything you need is in the name name of Jesus tonight oh Hallelujah I feel the Holy Ghost the moving in this room right now tonight there's victory in that name there's overcoming power in the name of Jesus Jesus Jesus Jesus Jesus My Everything Jesus My All In All brother Carpenter it feel good in the house of God but I get home home and things change listen to me tonight I grew up in a church that ended every Sunday morning and as a child I still remember this every Sunday morning that church ended with a radio broadcast and they ended with this song Take the name of Jesus with you child of comfort and of Woe he will comfort and joy give you take him with you everywhere you go can I tell you service will be over in less than an hour you'll be back on your PL you'll be back in your car you'll be back in your home and it doesn't need to go down from there you need to take the name of Jesus with you you need to take the name and when you feel that old creepy Spirit of Woe and you begin to feel that old heavy Spirit you need to start talking about the name of Jesus there's power there's power there's power oh come on we got to praise His name tonight come on we got to praise His name tonight Jesus in the morning Jesus at the noon time Jesus when the Sun goes down Jesus the first word of my mouth of the morning Jesus the last name before I go to Jesus what a wonderful name ah what a wonderful name what a wonderful name what a wonderful name what a wonderful name there's victory in that name there's overcoming power in that name it didn't start in the book of Acts they knew about it long ago in the Book of Proverbs this book that is a compilation of many wise sayings this book that is a combination compilation of many different wise say the only time the name of the Lord is mentioned in the Book of Proverbs it's mentioned in Proverbs 18 And1 the name of the Lord is a strong tower and the righteous runthe and and are saved it's the book of the songs of Solomon songs of Solomon chter 4 and verse 4 David describes David describes a bride but he's really describing the church he describes his bride as having a lovely neck and he says your neck is like a tower where thousands of Shields and swords are stored the Tower of David was a military Fortress of the nation the country depended upon the Fai fness and integrity of that Fortress and it must have been very reassuring to Loop upon this a awesome stronghold displaying all of the shields of war the people had a healthy respect for the tower therefore the king Likens the neck of his bride to The Fortress he is paying her a great compliment can I tell you tonight there is not a devil in hell that will not shutter and shut up at the name of Jesus and if the name of Jesus doesn't heal you of your infirmity the name of Jesus will take you through your infirmity can I tell you tonight that we are a blessed people to know the name of Jesus to be baptized in the name of Jesus to praise and to worship Jesus Jesus Jesus Jesus there's something about that name oh I got to have you praise him a little bit more come on I got to have you praise him a little bit more the name of Jesus did not come the importance of the name didn't come about in The Gospel it's as old as the Old Testament David squares off with Goliath Goliath is over 13t tall David just a runt of a child squares off with a mighty giant I've often said Goliath was named correctly because if Goliath ever got his hands on you you would go liath somewhere normally in the grave is where you would go lith giant came out against David this little fair-haired strippling of a child and Goliath began to taunt he said am I am I a dog that you would bring me scraps from your table am I a dog that you would bring me some scraps am I a dog Israel really are you serious Israel are you serious about this run that you've sent down here to fight with me are you really serious and then he begin to say boy I'm going to feed your body to the birds of the air I'm going to rip you up all over this Valley and David said now Mr Goliath if you're done talking it's my time to talk you come to me with a sword and a shield and a spear but I come to you in the name of I'm coming to you in the name of the Lord God of Israel come on do you want to get on top of your giant you got to start taking the name you got to start taking that name he car praise him with me right now Hallelujah say the name with me right now Jesus Jesus Jesus sometimes I have to be reminded I don't finish the stories I have people new converts will come up to me and they'll say brother Carpenter you just preaching about that little boy went out after that giant but you stopped whatever happened to him I'll tell you what happened to him it's not what happened to him it's what happened to Goliath he said you come to me with a shield and a sword and a spear but I come to you in the name of the Lord God of Israel and this day I shall take your head from your shoulders and this day your body will be eaten by the birds of the air and this day everybody's going to know that there is a God in Israel and the Bible said David went running toward that giant and the before that giant could get his sword pulled out David done put a rock in a slingshot and he done let it go and it went up up up and it hit the giant Right Between the Eyes it didn't kill him it just knocked him out and David didn't have a sword in his hand so David just went and got Goliath's sword the Bible says stood on his big old hairy chest took one little foot and lobbed his neck up so he could get a good whack at it and he began to whack at the head of Goliath and then he reached down and intertwined his fingers through the hair of Goliath and he lifted up his head and he walked back in the camp and he said is this what you're looking for is this what you're I'm telling you that you've been beat up long enough you've been intimidated long enough and it's time for you to get a hold of that giant I'm going to dance on the grave of my enemy I'm going to dance on the the grave come on if you want Deliverance it comes through Jesus name if you want healing it comes through Jesus name if you want to be able to live life it comes through and now you know the rest I'm the story Exodus 20:24 God said an altar of Earth shalt thou make unto me Thou shalt sacrifice thereon thy burnt offerings thy peace offerings thy sheep thy oxen in all the places where I record my name I will come unto thee look at don't don't don't don't lose this please wherever my name is at my presence is there you see it wherever my name is at my presence is there and wherever my presence is at my blessing is at oh you got to see this tonight wherever you're talking about his name you just look out his presence is going to come down you can be driving down the road and just start singing Jesus Jesus oh Jesus there's just something about that name and all of a sudden you don't know when you just got to singing but all of a sudden chill bumps begin to break out on the side of your face all of a sudden you begin to feel God like you feel him in the church what in the world has happened you can't sing about his name without his presence showing up you can't start talking about his name hey you don't need to go to bed to your television you need to go to bed to the name of Jesus his presence shows up can I preach on a little bit more somebody shout that name somebody shout that name oh Jesus wherever you're I record my name there is my presence Deuteronomy chapter 10 verse number eight at that time the Lord separated the tribe of Levi to Bear the Ark of the Covenant of the Lord to stand before the Lord to minister unto him and to bless his name unto this day the ark the presence was associated with his name 1 chonicles 22:19 Now set your heart and your soul to seek the Lord your God Arise therefore and build ye the sanctuary of the Lord God bring the Ark of the Covenant of the Lord and the holy vessels of God God into the house that is to be built to the name of the Lord Isaiah begin to stutter and Isaiah begin to prophesy and in Isaiah chapter 32 and verse number one Isaiah prophesies he says Behold a king shall reign in righteousness and princes shall rule in judgment and a man shall be a as a hiding place from the wind and a covert from The Tempest as rivers of water in a dry place as a shadow of a great rock in a weary land Isaiah begin to see through the eye of Prophecy there is a king going to come to this earth and there's a prince going to come to this earth and he's going to be a man that's going to be a hiding place from the wind he he's going to be a man that's going to be a hiding place from the storm he's going to be a man that's going to be a cold drink of water in a dry land he's going to be a man that's going to be a rock in a weary land he's going to be a man that's going to give you Direction when you're without Direction he's going to be a man that's going to give you going to give you satisfaction beyond all satisfaction he's going to be a man when your life has been falling apart because of a cyclone and a tornado and the wind that's blows your house upside down he's going to be a hiding place and can I tell you that the old Prophet went on and prophesied a little bit more and in Isaiah chapter 9 verse six he said For unto us a child is born unto us a son is given and the government shall be upon his shoulder and his name somebody help me tonight and his name Shall be Called wonderful counselor the Mighty God the Everlasting father the Prince of Peace I don't know what you need tonight but I hope to God you're not bored with the name because if the name cannot raise you up you can't be raised up I hope you're not bored there's not another answer like the name of Jesus and if you're here and you're searching your search is over tonight it's over the name come on help me Praise Him the name the name the name the name Faith is in his faith in his name thank you is say a few hundred years Click by the angel says in Matthew 1:21 she shall bring forth a son and thou shalt call his name Jesus for he shall save his people from their sins let me tell you something throughout the gospels there's not a lot of using the name of Jesus the disciples didn't use the name of Jesus a lot when Jesus walked this Earth why because he was there with them but the day was going to come and now in we live when he is no longer with us but we have the same ability to beckon his power when we beckon the name of Jesus Jesus is about to ascend into heaven and in Mark chapter 16 verse 15 he's about to ascend into heaven he says all right I'm about to I'm about to disappear from you but he said unto them go ye into all the world and preach the gospel to Every Creature he that believeth and is baptized shall be saved he that believeth not shall be damned and these signs these evidence shall follow them that believe in somebody shout in what in what in my name man I I don't mean to get off my sermon right here but there too many people talking about the ljc and not j s there too many people wanting to tell you about the initials of their organization I got news for you the alj can't do nothing for you and the p a can't do nothing for you and the upci can't do nothing for you and the WPF can't do nothing for you but let me tell you about J Jesus Jesus Jesus don't brag about your building don't brag about your daycare don't brag about your school don't brag about your choir don't brag about your LED screen brag about Jesus brag about him come on Hallelujah Jesus and these signs these evidence shall follow them that believe in my name they shall cast out Devils they shall speak with new
