us today thank you thank you thank you so very much of being a part of the First Apostolic Church here today thank you so much and you would please um give me a little leadway today if I maybe don't call your name or recognize that you're here uh on any one Given Sunday we probably have over 30 guests here at the church and and I want all of you to feel special today because you are special to us thank you again thank you so much John 4 and9 the woman saith unto him sir I perceive that thou art a prophet our fathers worshiped in this mountain and ye say that in Jerusalem is the place where men ought to worship Jesus saith unto Heroman believe me the hour cometh when you shall neither in this mountain nor at Jerusalem worship the father ye worship ye know not what we know what we worship for salvation is of the Jews but the hour cometh and now is when the true worshiper ERS shall worship the father in spirit and in truth for the father seeketh such to worship him God is a spirit and they that worship Him must worship Him must worship Him in spirit and in truth and I'm going to stop there for just a moment and I was told to make an announcement uh if you're going to purchase one of the bricks if you would just simply uh if you make your checkout or if you have cash and put in envelope however you do it just make sure to make a a note on it make a note on it this is for this is for a week all right everybody said amen I want to minister to you today on this subject God is a spirit God is a spirit father I love you this morning I thank you for the praise and worship I thank you Lord that your spirit comes down and you do inhabit live where people will praise you I thank you Lord today for your spirit that's in this room I thank you for the people that's in this room today and I ask you Lord to help me to feed the sheep today help me Lord to do what you have called me to do God and expound from your word to give us greater Insight God about you and about how to worship you and how to live for you God that we may bear fruit God that we may Advance your kingdom in Jesus wonderful name we pray amen and amen you you may be seated today thank you so much for standing I gather my text today from a conversation that Jesus had with a Samaritan woman at the well as he is talking to her the woman makes the statement that she perceives that he is a prophet of God and then she talks about something that had had divided the Samaritans from the Jewish people and what greatly divided the Samaritans from the Jewish people was was where they worshiped the Samaritans or Gentiles were not allowed to worship as the Jew would Worship in Jerusalem at the temple so the Samaritans had had a temple of their own a mountain of their own that they had built a place to worship the woman goes immediately to that and she says our fathers worshiped in this mountain and you say that in Jerusalem is the place that men ought to worship now We Gather from that one thing when the world wants to divide us Jesus Christ wants to unite us she wanted to talk about what divided them we worship over here the Jews worship at Jerusalem Jesus went in and said to the woman there's coming a day and then he says now is the day that you're we're going to worship the father not only on that mountain or at Jerusalem and then he explains he says the father seeketh such to worship Him in spirit and in truth he says now let's get our mind off a place off of a place and let's get our mind on how to worship said the father seeketh such the father look at at that closely the father seeketh such he's looking for such to worship Him in spirit and in truth then in verse 24 he says as my title God is a spirit God is a spirit and they that worship Him him and look at this word here must worship Him in spirit and in truth he first says the father is seeking those to Worship in spirit and truth and then Jesus says this is the only way to worship the father is in spirit and in truth because God is a spirit you see God God is not a physical being God is not a physical being limited to one place he's not a spir he's not a physical being limited to one space because God is an all presentes Spirit or we I will use the term omnipresent Omni means all and present God is an omni all presentes spirit is present everywhere at the exact same time God is present everywhere because God is Spirit God is present everywhere at the exact time which means that we can worship him anywhere and any time because God is a spirit I don't know the fur's point from merville around the globe right now from here I don't know what would be consider the furtherest point but if they're having church right now at the furtherest point around the world from right here and they're worshiping Jesus Christ God is there and God is here well how can God be all places because God is an omni present Spirit now Jesus who was God manifested In the Flesh gives a definition in Luke 24:36 he gives a definition of a spirit he has resurrected from the dead they have witnessed him being put to death on the cross they had witnessed him being put wrapped in grave clothes and put in the Tomb now in verse 36 and as they thus spake Jesus himself stood in the midst of them and saith unto them peace be unto you he showed himself resurrected and he says peace be unto you but they were terrified and a frightened and supposed that they had seen a spirit now why would they be terrified and why they why would they be AF fright fearful because they had a tradition that anytime you would see the spirit of a departed person a dead person they believe the spirit resembled the dead person that anytime you saw the Spirit or what you deemed to be the spirit of a departed person it meant that they had come to get you and take you to death so now that kind of fills in the blank there to why they may have been terrified and a frightened but verse 38 see they thought they had seen a spirit underline that they thought they had seen a spirit he says in verse 38 why are you troubled why do thoughts arise in your hearts behold my hands and my feet that it is I myself handle me and see for a spirit hath not Flesh and Bones as you see me have in other words he's given the descript I when it says God is a spirit that means that God is something that we cannot see with our eyes we we are not made to see God because God is a spirit the only way we see each other today and we all have Spirit the only way you see us today is because we have flesh and Bone take away our flesh and Bone today take away our flesh and Bone today and you would not be able with your eye to see be very cautious be very cautious today we are visible because we have flesh and Bone yet God is an omnipresent spirit and is not visible to the human eye we cannot see him now I did not say that God is not visible in the spirit realm but with the human eye we cannot see the spirit of God God would have to make himself known to where our eyes could see him I got news for you today we cannot see God with the the spirit with the human eye man hasn't made a telescope that can reach into heaven and see God man has not made a microscope that God can be put under a microscope and see him and may I add God can't be seen by a telescope a microscope nor even a hor scope can God be seen by because God is a spirit he is an omni present Spirit now I want to caution you today I want to caution you today everybody say caution I want to caution you today I want to I want to flash lights at you today be very cautious of non-biblical phrases or words that attempt to describe God why would we need to come up brother Namy with any other description of God who do we think we are that we would dare try to have a new and improved definition of God if God manifested In the Flesh himself said God is a spirit I'm not going to come around and try to have a new and improved definition of God please be very cautious today uh non-biblical phrases or words that attempt to describe God such as first second and third person of the godhead these are all man-made phrases that attempt to describe the god that they later that they would later say this is what our God is like be very careful nowhere in the Bible is first second third person of the godhead ever used nowhere in the Bible is Jesus is called the Eternal son nowhere in the Bible does it teach that there are three persons in the godhead each are co-equal now I'm not making this up I'm using the their own definition today their own definition today that there are three separate persons that make up the godhead and they are co-equal means that each has as much power as the other but not only are they co-equal they are co-eternal which just simply means all of them are Eternal of which when we look at the phrase co-eternal it it causes us to have great questioning of how one of the persons is God the father and the other one is God the son would logic not tell us that the father would be older than the son yet this is the co-eternal these are all phrases used in an attempt to explain a non-biblical teaching a non-biblical teaching of God God the son or God the Holy Ghost is never mentioned in our Bible we we have to be you we have to be on guard for wording Even in our world today when somebody said somebody says a woman's Reproductive Rights to Health Care can I interpret that for you oh it sounds good don't it a woman's Reproductive Rights and look how they they connected Health Care to it simply put they believe that a woman can end the life of the baby that is inside their womb but they can't say it that way they can't say it that way as a matter of fact we have to use words like pro-choice proo Choice well don't that sound good Pro means for Choice means hey we're Americans we live in the good old land of democracy we have a choice well that's only good if your choice is based on that which is right choose the good and refuse the evil so pro-choice means I decide whether the baby lives or not as a matter of fact the wording is even be changed over the years when a woman would become pregnant that they would say you're pregnant you know you're baby but now they use the word fetus fetus it's a fetus until the time of birth and then it becomes a baby or a human it becomes a baby or a human it's it's a crazy world we're living in it's crazy world we're living in now they tell me that if a hunter shoots a deer that is pregnant um out of season that they're charged they're charged with the death of two the mother and The Unborn a man killed a a man killed an animal in the wild and he was charged with a double uh fine because the animal was pregnant isn't it sad day when we recognize the life of an unborn animal come on somebody help me out we recognize the life of an unborn animal but we don't recognize the life of an unborn well how did we get sold on this pro-choice Reproductive Rights of a woman and if you vote for me for president no I'm no s you see today we need to be careful we need to go to the word of God God is a spirit they that worship Him must worship Him in spirit and Truth 1 Timothy chapter 3 and verse1 14 listen to Paul writing to Timothy he's giving him final instructions because because Paul is about to be executed and Paul is writing some very important things to Timothy that he wants this young Pastor to understand he says in 1 Timothy 3:14 these things write I unto thee hoping to come unto thee shortly but if I T long that thou mayest know how thou oughtest to behave thyself in the house of God which is the Church of the Living God the pillar and the ground of the TRU truth look at verse 16 the next time somebody says to you and you'll notice this you'll notice this the non-biblical definition of God has to be blanket it has to be all their the the all their silverware has to be laid out on a table that's got a cloth called mystery it's a mystery just a mystery how this is when you begin to say coal that mean co-eternal that and you begin to do that it's just it's just a it's just a mystery it's just a mystery it's a mystery verse 16 and without controversy that word controversy there means debating arguing and without controversy great is the mystery of godliness that word godliness there means godlikeness great is the mystery of godlikeness he didn't say it's a mystery you can't understand it but he did say it's a great mystery of godlikeness here's the mystery God was manifest In the Flesh justified in the spirit seen of angels preached un the Gentiles believed on in the world received up into Glory how does a God who is spirit that we can't see that's omnipresent how does God manifest himself to us through the Flesh of Jesus Christ who is Jesus Christ God manifested In the Flesh the Bible said no somebody help me now the Bible says for in him that's Colossians for in him H IIM for in him brother AR you get that verse for me for in him dwelleth the fullness of the godhead bodily and you are complete in him listen Jesus is not in the godhead he's not the second person in the godhead when they say there's three persons in the godhead God the Father God the son God the Holy Ghost all man made definitions to try to explain their Doctrine but when you go to the book of all books you find in Colossians that in him dwelleth the fullness of the godhead bodily and you are complete in him come on give him praise today Colossians 29 Colossians 2:9 in him dwelleth all the fullness of the godhead bodily and you are complete in him give me Colossians 2:10 right quick and you are complete in him and you are complete in him which is the head of all principality and power give me verse 11 just go till I quit verse number 11 in whom also we are circumcised with the circumcision made without hands in putting off the body of the sins of the flesh by the circumcision of Christ what is the circumcision of Christ I know what it means to be circumcised under the Jews under the Old Testament buried with him in baptism that wherein you are risen with him through the faith of the operation of God can I tell you it's important to know who he is today God is says a Spirit come on worship him right now he said we had to worship Him in spirit and in truth today hallelujah hallelujah hallelujah it's really simple it's really simple and let me explain my behavior maybe to Our Guest how come you start out so calm and you get this way cause it's like fire shut up in my bones I said it's like fire somebody don't don't misquote that verse of scripture don't you oh the Holy Ghost is like fire shut up in the bones that may be all right but that's not the correct definition that's not what he said either he said Thy word is like fire shut up in his bones can I tell you something you can't worship God in error and have his full presence with you he will bless sincerity only to lead you to further truth but if you don't allow him to lead you to further truth he'll leave you in a ceremony and let you get over there on Yonder Hill and worship all you want to but when God said I tell you what I'm looking for I'm not looking for somebody that's worshiping me out of some Creed that come out of the third Century I'm not looking for somebody to worship me out of some man's ideology and some man's religion I'm looking for somebody to worship me in spirit and and in truth it's really very simple when you take the Bible at face value God is a spirit he was miraculously conceived in the womb of the Virgin Mary and I'll talk about that in a few moments God was miraculously caused the conception in the womb of the Virgin Mary his death on the cross Justified God who the true offense of sin was against it was God that Adam and Eve sinned against it was God's Commandment that Adam and Eve sinned against and because man was born in sin and shape of iniquity it was a wall there until God was justified in the spirit scene of angels was not Angels present preached into the Gentiles did he not preach to the Gentiles believed on in the world received up in the glory and you could just simply say God was manifested in the flesh Jesus seen of angels Jesus preached to the Gentiles Jesus believed on in the world Jesus received up into glory and I wish you would say that name Jesus Hebrews HEBs chapter 1 verse number one says God who is sunry times that means in many different ways and in diverse manners spake in time pass God spake in time pass unto the fathers by the prophets how did God speak to Israel he spoke God spoke to the prophets and the prophets spoke spoke to the people they spoke God's mind they spoke God's will God who at sunry times and in diverse manners spake in time past into the fathers by the prophets hath in these last days spoken unto us by his son whom he appointed heir of All Things by whom also he made now he spoke to the prophets but now God speaks to us through his son let me say this his only begot son you see you cannot have begotten in eternity in the same thing when you look at Jesus Christ you do see those two words begotten and eternal but it's understanding that the man that came forth from Mary's womb was not Eternal that was begotten it was a miracul ulous conception but The God Who callused the miraculous conception is eternal verse three he spoke to us by his son verse three who being the brightness of his glory and the expressed image of his person and upholding All Things by the power of His by the word of of his power when he had by himself purged our sins sat down on the right hand of the Majesty on high now I want you to look at verse three with me again who is the son who is the flesh that we can see the brightness of God's glory and look at these two words and the expressed image of his person the express the word Greek word express Express there Express there it means a stamp that you make an an impression upon and it also and you make that impression with Clay the image the expressed image of his person when now we use the word person we think okay there's a there's a person there there's a person but that word there actually means substance or foundation so Jesus Christ is the expressed image and the foundation of God he is the expressed image hang on the word image there Jesus Christ is the expressed image go back with me to Colossians chapter 1 Colossians chapter 1 and verse number 15 speaking of Jesus Christ this speaks of Jesus Christ Colossians 1:5 who is why we read that verse all out loud together since we're kind of in a Bible teaching mode here let's read it all out loud together who is the who is Jesus Christ who is he let's have a Bible definition who is he he is the image of the invisible God how many gods are there there's only one so if he is the expressed image he is the image of the invisible god well let's don't stop there notice it calls him the invisible God we go back to God is a spirit and we have we we don't have the ability to look into the spirit world all right we can only look in with our eyes that he made we cannot see the spirit and so to us he is invisible and to the writer 1 Timothy 11:17 1 Timothy 11:7 now unto the king Eternal Immortal invisible the only wise God be honor and Glory forever and ever amen this God we serve according to Paul is invisible according to Paul Jesus Jesus is the image of the invisible God be Unthinkable to a Jew be Unthinkable to a Jew itd be Unthinkable to writers of your Bible to try to present any more than one God the only wise God as a matter of fact Hebrews 11 verse number 27 tells us a little bit about Moses and his faith Bible said by faith Moses forsook Egypt not fearing the Wrath of the king for he endured as seeing him who is invisible Moses was able to walk with God because he saw him perceived him obeyed him that was invisible now let's talk a little bit in our Bible class this morning let's talk a little bit about the omnipresence of God try to wrap our minds around the OM omnipresence pres of God the all presentes God we find in Psalms 139:7 David declared an omnipresent God when David said in Psalms 139 and: 7 whether shall I go from thy Spirit where am I going to go from thy Say it With Me from thy Spirit where can I go from thy Spirit or whether shall I flee from thy presence well let's TR R in places if I Ascend up into heaven Thou Art there if I make my bed in hell that word is a grave behold Thou Art there if I take the wings of the morning and dwell in the uttermost parts of the sea even there shall thy hand lead me and thy right hand shall hold me notice how he says the direction he said if I go as high as I can can you would be there if I go as low as I can you would be there if I took the wings and I would fly in each Direction East and West he said God you are there an omnipresent God Jeremiah the prophet in Jeremiah chapter 23 and verse 23 God spoke to him God said Jeremiah am I a god at hand that means close by am I not a god at hand sayith the Lord and not a god a far off look at he says he said am I not a God that's close and am I not a God that's far off you see when it comes to you and I we're either close to one another or we're far off from each other but when you're God who is a spirit you can say God am I God Jeremiah am I not close to you and Jeremiah am I not far off from you verse number 24 can any hide himself in secret places that I shall not see him sayeth the Lord do not I feel Heaven and Earth on thepresence sayith the lord it's a matter of fact as a matter of fact in Matthew 28:20 I want you to I want you to look at this close in Matthew 28:20 some of the last words of Jesus Christ to the disciples teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you and lo I Am With You Always even un the end of the world now you you know Paul Jesus Paul's going that way Peter's going that way Bartholomew is going that way this group's going that that way preaching you we're going into all the world he said go into all the world and preach the gospel with every creature we're about to go into all the world and you're telling us you're going to be with all of us always there's only one way he can do that and he can't do it in the person or The Human Side of Jesus Christ but as the great Eternal God he can be with me today in merville and he can be with a preacher in Montana he can be in the United States of America and he can be in the Soviet Union today why because he is God and we ought to worship him we ought to worship him as we ought to wor go ahead and worship him right now he is God oh let me travel on today let me travel on Genesis chapter 1 and verse number one let's read it all together today let's read that all together Genesis 1:1 I love to hear the sound of you all reading the Bible reading scripture out loud in the beginning verse one States the fact of what was created verse one is a fact in the beginning God created the Heaven and the Earth everybody say that's a fact verse number two let me read and the Earth was without form and void and darkness was upon the face of the deep and the spirit of God moved upon the face of of the waters and God said let there be light and there was light verse one States the fact of creation verses two and three states the fact of how it happened how did creation come from invisible to visible because the spirit of God moved upon the face of the water that was without form and void and darkness was upon the face of the Earth which tells me this what a beautiful Earth God made I'm going to tell you you tell you show me all them planets you show me the moon you show me this the Mars and what they all look like I have no aspiration to want to go visit them and I have no aspiration of wanting to go live on one of those rocks out there in the middle outer space but oh what a beautiful Earth God made there's listen there's nothing any more be beautiful than the panoramic view of the Smoky Mountains when the leaves are changing it's as if God gets a paintbrush out and God begins to paint the Earth and it comes alive and you'll almost think trees are burning with fire the wonderful beautiful animal kingdom and we and and we we look on and look around can I tell you it all came out of a mess it all came out of a Earth that was without form and void and darkness was upon the face of the Earth well what changed it and the spirit of God moved upon the Water I I feel compelled I feel compelled to preach this today if God can make a beautiful Earth out of a horrible looking surrounding how much more can he take the ugliness of our lives and if we allow the spirit oh Hallelujah if we allow the spirit to come let me go on today it's about time to quit here it's about time to quit they're about to blow the lunch hour whistle for me and I get to take a lunch break praise God you see when the spirit comes upon you the spirit enables you to do things that you could not do on your own let me say that again when the spirit of the Lord comes upon you it will enable you to do things you could not do on your would you like proof of that judges 6:34 but the spirit of the Lord Came Upon Gideon and he blew a trumpet and a bazer and gathered after him Israel wait a minute Gideon you the chicken you the coward you the scaredy cat hunkered down at a wine press trying to make a little bit of bread but the next thing we see sister Thorp I'm blowing a trumpet saying come on fight with me what turns a coward into a conqueror one thing and the spirit of the Lord came upon him what can turn what can turn a sinner into a saint and the spirit of the Lord Came Upon them what can cause somebody that's attempting to take their life contemplating on taking their life the spirit of the Lord comes upon them I think I think of Parker I think of Parker's grandmother Freda who worked at the Levi stra when they had a plant here in mville she was a single mom single parent living her life for her boy Chad living her life for Chad Levi Strauss closed the factory and Freda got so full sister glimma so full of Gloom and depression and hopelessness that she was contemplating ending her life as a matter of fact as a matter of fact Chad who was just a little boy was coming to the McGinley Street Church we had a Sunday school contest of I brother clayber and I don't know giving away a kite or a bicycle whoever could bring the most to Sunday school and Chad wanted whatever we were giving away little did Chad know brother Marshall when he got off the school bus that day and he said I'm I'm I know I get my mama to come to church I know I get my mama to come to church little did know that his mother was in the bathroom about to end her life in the bathroom but when Chad opened that door of the house Mama Mama I got to talk to you what what Chad what do you want you got to go to church with me this Sunday you got to go to church with me this Sunday I'm GNA get a kite or a B I don't I don't know what it was I don't care what it was mama you got to go with me and I'm going to get this if you go and Freda told me later she said I thought I'll go to church with him and I'll end my life I'll at least knew one last thing for him but Freda got there on that little McGinley Street Church that Sunday morning and what turns a suicide woman into a woman that crawls out to God I was preaching brother th and I heard free to stream to the top of her voice because the spirit of God had got on her and she was filled with the Holy Ghost and she was baptized in Jesus name she lived on many more years she worked as a custodian in a cook around here what can cause suicide to have hope the spirit of the Lord that's what can cause it to come oh you're not defeated you're only defeated because you're not worshiping but if you'll begin to worship the spirit of God will come upon you the devil will tell you you're too sinful to worship he's only afraid if you start worshiping God is going to come and God is going to help you come on give him praise right now I don't care how unworthy you feel worship Jesus Christ right now worship Jesus Christ right now come on stand with me right now I don't care how unworthy you feel worship him right now I don't care if you were dog drunk last night get on your feet and begin to worship Jesus Christ worship him right now Hallelujah worship him right now worship him right now some of you been crying yourself to sleep begin to worship him right now some of you that think your life is over begin to worship him right now just lift your hands and begin to say Jesus I Need You Jesus I love you Jesus I worship you Hallelujah Hallelujah Hallelujah Hallelujah Hallelujah glory to God glory to God come on just remain standing with me right now be very mindful of the presence of the Lord there may be somebody around you there may be somebody around you right now God is moving up on there may be somebody around you God's moving on the darkness right now God is moving Isaiah said in Isaiah 111 and2 that the spirit of the Lord would rest upon Messiah Spirit of wisdom and understanding Jesus fulfilled that scripture in Luke 4:18 when he stood in his own Hometown church and he declared unto them the spirit of the Lord is upon me because he have anointed me to preach the gospel to the poor he has sent me to heal the brokenhearted to preach Deliverance to the captive and the recovering of sight to the blind to set at Liberty them that are bruised he said the spirit of the Lord's upon me how does a man perform a miracle he does it it's the spirit of God that was in him how does a man tell a man go your way your servant is healed it's about 1:00 I'm just using this as an example to show you that it did happen it's about 1:00 on a Tuesday afternoon and the man says to Jesus and Jesus says to the man your servant is healed the man travels a day Journey gets back at his house where the sick servant was at about 1:00 on a Wednesday and he finds his servant sitting up he finds his servant healed he says how do some want to ask you something about what time was it you got better he said about this time yesterday the fever broke about this time yesterday and the man called remembrance it was about that same time that he said your servant I'm telling you folks God is here God is here God is here right now he said the spirit of the Lord is upon me but then he turns around and he tells the disciples but tear ye in the city of Jerusalem until you be filled with power from on high I send my promise and that is that is his Spirit you say brother Carpenter why do you preach the word today because if we don't preach it it's kind of like those stones that we're trying to sail if we don't preach it it'll be forgotten and for every truth that we fail to preach Satan is glad to offer up his thoughts you see and I close with this I close with this today according to historical records the Jewish people who are the primary population of Israel are considered one of the oldest continuous people on Earth with evidence of their presence in the region dating back thousands of years making a strong Case for Israel being one of the oldest continuous cultures on the planet how is that how is our news sprinkled with familiar Bible names of cities we recognize Jerusalem Israel how is it because they had a word here oh Israel the Lord our God is one they'll never deviate from that at a tour of Israel many years ago I ask our Israeli T guide I ask her I understand I understand that you don't accept Jesus Christ as Messiah but when your Messiah comes who will he be will he be and I I pose this I said will he be the second person of the godhead to you and it was almost as if that kind Israeli T guide that woman that had smiled and spoke softly throughout the week almost turned to me with a growl in her voice and she said absolutely not that's what you believe I said oh no I said 'I believe that Jesus Christ is the Old Testament Jehovah come in flesh upon this Earth she said that's what we believe the Messiah will be Jehovah the Messiah will be Jehovah come to this earth folks today if Israel can be the oldest continuous culture in the world I believe that the apostolic church that is celebrating
