it will take me just a few moments to explain my title unless you speak Latin all right if you speak Latin you're going to know when I say these but I'm going to preach tonight on Hab Corpus Hab Corpus and before you're seated give God a great big hand clap of Praise oh he's worthy he's worthy tonight habes Corpus habes Corpus is a Latin word words that simply mean we have the body we have the body it is a legal action it is a protection it is covered in our Constitution that though a prisoner can be released from unlawful detention that is detention lacking sufficient cause or evidence it is used in Criminal Court to determine the legality of someone's custody it can only be filed when the accused is in custody when a writ of haby's Corpus is filed the court is asked to determine the legality of the confinement is it legal for you to be confined in other words under our great con Constitution a lesser power cannot usurp authority over a greater power our constitution says that we cannot be held detained put in custody without a written form of evidence of why that we're being held simply that a lesser power cannot Ur up authority over a greater power which brings me tonight to my scripture text the Philistines and the Israelites were added again they were fighting each other and the only time that the Israelites would ever lose was when they were not loyyal to their God there's always victory in God you make a note of that there's always victory in God if you're suffering defeat dear child of God I want you to under I want you to begin to examine your walk with God if you ever find yourself suffering from defeat you need to examine your relationship with God well Israel they were not in the right relationship with God and they went out and and they took the Ark of God and they went out to do battle with the Philistines but this time God allowed the Philistines to defeat the Israelites and in the defeating of the Israelites all the Israelites begin to run because they saw that thousands were dying and as they were running no one cared to take care of the Ark of the Covenant of the Lord nobody nobody thought somebody get the Ark of the Covenant that represents the presence of God almighty God dwells Over The Mercy Seat and underneath the cherubs somebody get the Ark of the Covenant but no one cared to stop and get the Ark of the Covenant so guess what the Philistines who worshiped an idol God called deeon they had a temple there and deeon was represented Deon was half fish the stump of the body or from the waist down was a fish and from the waist up was a man and so therefore they believed that deeon was the originator of life that life came from the water the fish's tail and that evolved into human the the Torso of the man and that they believed that deeon was the God of all gods and so when they got the Ark of the Covenant which was the symbol of Israel's God guess where they took it they confined it they arrested it they held it a kind of unlawful seizure there they took it and they brought it into deon's Temple and that's what they did in those days when one country would defeat another country they would take their gods or their Idols they would bring them back to their country and put them in a place of of of lower sitting in their Temple so they brought the Ark of God and they set it in the house of deeon that statue the the the bottom part was a a fish and the top part was a man and they put the Ark of God there and all the people begin to Rejoice because Deon has won the day for us Deon has fought our battles man way to go dayon I mean you have fought our battles man Deon you're the God of all gods and they went home that evening the next morning the priests come to offer in the temple of deeon and guess what they found they found Deon laying face down on the ground before the Ark of the Covenant of God well the priests they thought well there's been a little earthquake in the night they've always got a a you know an excuse for something like well there's been a little earthquake in the middle of the night and and our our statue of deeon he has fallen down and so so they reached down and and they propped the Bible said they propped old Deon back up and they put deeon back up on the on on his pedestal there and and there deeon was and and they worshiped Deon a little bit but the next day when they went into the Temple of deeon all this time he wasn't falling upon his face oh no his head was removed from his body and his hands were removed from the body and as a matter of fact it's got if you really did a crime scene it would appear that his head and his hands were on the threshold of the door of the temple and his body was in its place it was almost as if deeon tried to run out of there and whatever it was that got a hold of him cut his head off and cut his hands off and when that happened friend they begin to say oh they kind of backed up a little bit because something's going on here you better believe something's going on here Philistines you are trying to hold you are trying to hold a greater power by a lesser power and there is a habes corpus going on here God has called you to record God has said in the middle of the night what right do you have to hold me in this place Deon can't answer deeon is not a god at all he's just a product of a man's hands so God was saying God was saying you can't have a lesser power holding a greater power heaven 's Judicial System just will not allow a lesser power to hold a greater power well not only did they get freaked out over the The Head and the hands being on the threshold but then a disease hit them and it was a very uncomfortable disease that hit all these people and and it's a terrible disease it's a very uncomfortable disease uh that that hit all the people of of of of the land and not only that not only did they get this disease that was uncomfortable but all of a sudden rats rats begin I'm not talking about a rat turn I'm talking about rats like rodents all right rats begin to to run all through the land so so they're not just fighting now this emerods they're not just fighting this horrible disease in their bodies but now they're fighting rats all over the place and so all of a sudden the people of ashdod said wait a minute said it's the AR of God and so they said let's send it on down to Gaza let's send it down to gath Excuse Me Maybe the god that's at gath can take care of it well they sent the Ark of God down to gath and guess what God was greater in gath than he was in ashdod so they said in gath they said we don't want him here and so they said we'll send him to Eon and they sent him down to erron before it was over they had to call a governmental meeting of the Senate and the Congress and the five Lords of the Philistines got together and they said this Arc of the Covenant is is wreaking havoc on the land of the Philistines now see I'm I want to show you something tonight when man will not give God glory God's not going to go without Glory he'll get Glory himself you see I would rather be somebody to give God glory tonight you see if we don't praise him if we don't praise him here tonight don't think God's not going to get any praise he said I'll let the rocks cry out and I'll let the Rocks begin to praise me tonight you see God can get the glory on his own but I want to be a part I want to be a partaker to give God the glory and to give God the praise they said man they said we don't want anything to do we don't want anything to do with this we don't want anything to do with this Arc of the Covenant we don't we don't want anything to do with it and so he said what are we going to do they said' we got to send it away well if we send it away what we better give an offering to it and so the Bible says that they made five golden rats that's what it says they made five golden rats and five golden emerods and they built a cart and they put what they said they got out there and they said you know what this just may be by chance let's take two cows that have just had baby calves and let's take the calves and let's tie them up in the barn these these mothers will naturally want to go to their baby cabs and we'll just build a cart we'll build us a cart and we'll put the arc on the back of that cart and we won't put a driver we'll just we'll just let the cows take this wherever they want to and said if the cows take this cart back to Israel we'll know this thing was of God but if these cows just go out there and go around in circle we'll just know this was happen chance this was just something that happened and you know what happened when they when they tied those cows up to that cart and they let those cows go they went against their own natural motherly Instinct instead of going to their babies that were tied up in the barn the Bible says they made a straight shot for the land of Israel and the five Lords Nolan of the Philistines they followed right along behind the cart to see and can't can't you see them talking to each other yeah I I think I think it's going to the land of Israel I think it's going to the land of is is and all of a sudden it topped the hill in Beth shth and that's over in Israel and the Bible said the men of Beth shth when they saw the Ark of God they were threshing wheat in the valley and when they saw the Ark of God they begin to Rejoice they begin to praise God because the Ark of God had come home again ladies and gentlemen I'm here to tell you good news tonight on this Resurrection night that a lesser power cannot hold back the greatest power on this Earth and that is God would you clap your hands and give God a praise in this house tonight come on give him a praise tonight in this house you see the Bible tells us the Bible tells us in Acts chapter 2 excuse me Acts chapter 12 in verse number one the Bible tells us about a king by the name of of Herod the Bible says in Acts 12 and verse number one I want you to hear what happened here and there needed then there there needed to be a habes corpus take place but the Bible said in Acts 12 and one now about that time Herod the king stretched forth his hands to Vex certain of the church he killed James the brother of John with the sword and because he saw it pleased the Jews he proceeded further to take Peter also then were the days of unleavened bread and when he had apprehended him that's arrested him all right when Herod had arrested him he had apprehended him he put him in prison and delivered him before quadron of soldiers to keep him intending after Easter to bring him forth to the people Peter therefore was kept in prison but would you notice something here it seems to it seems to lead us to believe that it's the next few words that turned it but prayer was made without ceasing un of the church unto God for him are you with me tonight you see Peter was arrested by lower power Peter had the keys to the kingdom Peter was was a man of God Peter was the man that had the keys and a lesser power Herod had arrested him and put him in prison and there he was going to stay until after Easter and they were going to behead Peter but somebody in the church said some Mama sister said I believe that we need to break down a Hab Corpus right now I believe that we need to break down a these Corpus because I want to see what the evidence is against Peter I want to see what they've charged him with and you know what they charged him with preaching Jesus they had charged him with preaching the resurrection and a lesser power cannot hold back a greater power church family let's keep up our prayers let's serve the devil a habes corpus let's serve the enemy of habes Corpus what right do you have coming into my family what right do you you have coming getting my children what right do you have folks I'm getting happy in this house tonight what right do you have enemy I serve you with a hes Corpus tonight what right do you have well the Bible guess guess the Bible said that the church went to God praying they were really serving a habes corpus on the devil what right do you have what right do you have to have Peter down you know Peter represents a four some of you have let the devil get a hold of your Authority and you've not served him with a habes corpus some of you have let the devil get a hold of your mind and you've not served him with a habes corpus and said wait wait a minute what are you doing miess with my thoughts what are you doing telling me I'm not saved what are you doing telling me I'm no good what are you doing telling me my best days are behind me Satan I serve you with a habes corpus tonight you better bring me the you bring me bring me the evidence that Jesus doesn't love me anymore bring me the evidence that Jesus has turned his back on me bring me the evidence man they just got done there and they started serving him haby's Corpus they just started having him a prayer Mee oh God and the Bible said old Peter was asleep now I'm going to tell you something the next morning the next morning they were going to take his life from him there's proof positive right here he had a sedative called the Holy Ghost cuz how in the world could a man sleep when he knows he's going to lose his head the next morning Holy Ghost just put him asleep he's he's bound up with two chains you talk about maximum security he must have been one more dangerous fell because they had 16 soldiers chained to him he was sleeping between them 16 soldiers around him and all of a sudden boom a light shined in the prison house hey's Corpus was breaking down a light shined in the prison house a light that put the the 16 guards sound asleep I I mean to tell you they they they they knocked them out they just sound asleep and the light shine and the chains fell off of Peter and the angel pushed him on the side the Bible said smoted him on the side and the angel said get up and it's all it's all I'm really not paraphrasing that much the angel said get up and and put your clothes on that's right he said put your put your robe on he said put your clothes on Peter got up and he put his robe on and the angel said put your shoes on he put his sandals on on the angel said follow me haby's Corpus has done been served follow me they don't have any evidence to keep you follow me and he took him out and there was big iron gates I mean this guy is getting out of Maximum Security Prison big iron gates are opening up and Swinging back 16 soldiers are sound asleep snoring so loud they ought to wake up the dead and here Peter's just following the angel out the door iron gates are swinging open and then when they got outside of the prison out outside and the Big Iron Gate swung back and Peter was in the middle of the street the angel left him and then the Bible it Dawns on Peter Peter had thought he was dreaming a dream he really did he thought he was having a vision oh what a good Vision what a good dream I'm having I I'm being I'm being broke out of jail some I'm I'm coming out of jail and when the air hit him and he realized this is no this is no dream I am really out of prison he said I know where to go hey Corpus prayer meeting there's a prayer meeting going on and that's why I'm out of prison and he went to the prayer meeting
