if you have your bibles and would stand with me tonight turn with me to the first book of corinthians first corinthians chapter number 11 and verse number two is where we're going to begin but before i read this verse of scripture and before we pray tonight i i've kind of written out something that i would like it to set the tone for our bible lesson tonight you know god only feeds the hungry god only feeds the hungry and this is how i feel about god and i just wrote it down in the heart and spirit of every healthy child of god is a passion to obey and please god and along with this desire the child of god places themselves under the control of god through his word this step is called submission which simply means to arrange yourself under the authority of another and that other is god first corinthians chapter 11 is all about a chapter that talks about submission and the effects that the spirit has upon us as a child of god first corinthians 11 and 2 now i praise you brethren that you remember me in all things and keep the ordinances as i deliver them to you but i would have you know that the head of every man is christ and the head of the woman is the man and the head of christ is god father i love you tonight lord help us god as we are hungry lord help us tonight god as we have a passion to know you we can only know you god through your word lord let the true spirit of submission rest upon all of us god so that we can truly become all that you know that we can be lord anoint my heart tonight help me god articulate the bible lesson open the ears tonight i'll give you all the praise and glory in jesus name we pray amen and amen you may be seated paul begins verse number three and of course verse number two paul is praising the saints at corinth that they have remembered him in the ordinances that he has laid down he has given them some traditions we could call them ordinances he is giving them some ways that they ought to they ought to walk and live for god and he praises them that he has been remembered in these things but verse number three it's almost as he takes a an abrupt start he says but i would have you know but i would have you know that the head of every man is christ the head of the woman is the man and the head of christ is god now this is very interesting tonight because of the cultural battle that we face when we talk about head because our culture that we are inundated with tells us that authorities are bad in the nature that that something ahead authority is something that would be bad and it's almost when we mention in this culture today that the head of every man the authority what it means is the the authority the ruler the one that rules uh rules over man but again please listen very closely god is a good god and god would never never ask me to do something that's not for my good everything that god asked me to do the bible says that god will not withhold any good thing from those that walk uprightly before him so if god asks something of us being god he asks something of us it would be to our advantage it would be to our betterment it would be our benefit if we would place ourselves under the rulership of god so paul says and follow this closely paul says that the head of every man is christ well i want that in my life i want christ to be my head and then he said the head of the woman is the man and of course if you're here tonight and and you are you are a woman and uh you you have a husband that lives for god you have a husband that lives for god i want you to know i want you to know how blessed that you are this evening i want you to know how blessed that you are this evening and as you submit yourself to your husband you submit yourself to his godly leadership he said the head of the the woman is the man but notice how he flips back around and then he says but the head of christ is god now in this one verse we see the beginning of salvation when a man comes to god when a man comes to god and submits himself to god because we we we cannot move forward in god without the spirit of submission we've got to have that that uh that willingness to and and the word submission was actually used in the military and it it means to arrange yourself under the authority of another in other words to place yourself matter of fact the truth of the matter is no one can make you be submitted they cannot make you be submitted because submitting has to do with your spirit and only only you can you can give it so you notice he said the head of every the head of every man is christ and the head of every woman is the man and and then he comes around and he says and the head of christ is god and of course we understand that to be so true when it and the in the the example has been laid out in john chapter 8 verse number 28 we have a great example jesus christ the man jesus christ demonstrated his submission to his father the man christ jesus demonstrated his submission to his father now i want you to know this thing called uh submission only works when it's all connected all right it only works when it's all connected in other words a man if he doesn't submit himself to god he is wasting his time trying to get his wife to submit herself to him all right it just doesn't it's like the circuit has been broken the circuit the power cannot flow through the power cannot flow through because there's a break in the circuit so if a man is not submitted to god he is wasting his time to try to get his wife to be submitted to him it it it just it just won't work jesus christ gave us an example and i like how it comes back around and says the head of christ of course is talking about the man christ jesus the head of christ is god now the man christ jesus would not have been effective if he was not obedient to his father look with me in john chapter 8 and verse number 28 john chapter 8 verse number 28 then said jesus unto them when you have lifted up the son of man then you shall know that i am he and that i do nothing of myself but as my father hath taught me i speak these things and he that sent me is with me the father hath not left me alone for i do always those things that please him the head of christ is god what was the example that he left us the man christ jesus wanted to please god he wanted to please god look with me just another verse to back this up matthew chapter 26 and verse number 39 and he jesus went a little further fell on his face and prayed saying oh my father if it be possible let this cup pass from me nevertheless not as i will but as thou wilt so now jesus left us a good example he was obedient to his father and because he is obedient to his father men tonight we can align ourselves under jesus christ because he was obedient we can align ourselves under him we have men tonight this is called the process of spiritual order men this evening we have a big responsibility we have the responsibility because we are to submit ourselves to christ because we need to lead our families we need to lead our families it is a process of spiritual order um there's a and i want to just kind of just kind of stay here for a moment men we really have a big responsibility as christian men so let's submit ourselves to jesus christ let's submit ourselves to him when we when we submit ourselves to him and we want to do what pleases him not what pleases us we want to do his will not our will and i promise you if we'll learn men if we'll learn how to please god i promise you we'll enjoy life a whole lot better if we'll learn how to please god we'll enjoy life a whole lot better things will things will go a lot better for us in life if we can learn how to please god if we can learn how to say god not my will but god you've got a better will i promise you will live long enough to see that we were thankful that we followed god's will and not our own well now let's go back to first corinthians because first corinthians 11 is talking about spiritual order it's talking about spiritual order first corinthians 11 and verse number four he says every man praying or prophesying having his head covered dishonoreth his head now we see in this one verse here that when it says praying having his head covered he is referring to the natural head that if the man came in and was praying or prophesying and had a covering over his head he was dishonoring that word means to shame means to cause the blush it means to be an embarrassment he was dishonoring his head but he's not referring to this head he's talking about the head that he's already said the head of every man is christ so he said if you would come in and you would have something on your natural head a covering and you would try to pray and prophesy you're actually causing dishonor and a shame to your head now tonight as a man that's trying to live for god the last thing i want to do is dishonor jesus christ the last thing i want to do would be to dishonor him i want to live for god i want to be pleasing to god i believe that we're i believe we're all after a phrase to be said about us one day well done good and faithful servant so he said if a man had something a covering on his head and he tries to pray or prophesy he is dishonoring his head please note with me tonight that what we do in the natural or the visible can either bring praise or shame to the name of the lord what we do in the natural in the visible can either bring praise or shame to the name of the lord but let's watch verse 5 because notice the order that i would have you know the head of every man is christ the head of every woman the head of woman is the man and the head of christ is god it's a divine order so he starts with a responsibility notice where he starts please make note in your bible where he starts who does he start with he starts with us men he starts with us men all right because we carry the load of responsibility men we carry that load of responsibility all right and so he starts talking about if a man would put something on his head and pray or prophesy he's bringing shame a dishonor to his head then he goes to verse number five but every woman that prayeth or prophesy if with her head uncovered dishonor of her head for that is even all one as if she were shaven now wait a minute if a man covers his head he brings shame but if a woman comes in uncovered she brings shame if she comes in uncovered why the difference why the difference the difference is the distinction that our god made between a male and a female at creation there is a distinction that's why if a man comes in he's got a covering on his head god says you dishonor me but a woman would come in a woman would come in and not have a covering and god says you dishonor me well what's the difference here because of the distinction of the male and the female as a matter of fact we see this in mark chapter 10 verse number six mark chapter 10 and verse number six and i i really hope that the next time any of the the ladies or the men are asked about your hair that you will not refer to a church standard that you will you will speak about a distinction the creator made mark 10 verse number 6 but from the beginning of the creation of god but but from the beginning of the creation god made them what how did god make them god made them male and female distinction right god made a distinction between a male and a female for this cause for this distinction for this cause shall a man leave his father and his mother and shall cleave to his wife you see the man has a desire for a woman and a woman has a desire for a man because of distinction a distinction that god made and they too are twain is what the scripture says in verse 8 and they twain shall be one flesh so then they are no more twain two but one flesh wherefore what therefore god hath joined together let not man put asunder i'm doing no harm to the scripture right now by saying this do not allow the supreme court to erase the distinction between a male and a female i don't care what's accepted in society our creator in the beginning define marriage between a male and a female and the next time you're asked why we don't believe in same-sex marriage don't talk about a tradition of the pentecostal belief it's because in the beginning god made male and female and then he said i believe god knew what was going to happen then he said in verse 9 what therefore god had joined together let not man put asunder or my interpretation what i have created and this distinction that i have made let not the supreme court define it any other way amen amen why the distinction why the distinction the distinction connects us to our creator the distinction the distinction connects us to our creator let's look at verse number or let's look at go back to first corinthians with me first corinthians 11 verse number 6. for if the woman be not covered let her also be shorn but if it'd be a shame for a woman to be shorn or shaven let her be covered now the whole issue and you can you can search all kinds of bible commentaries the corinthian women did not have an outbreak of women cutting their hair we know that that is something of the last hundred hundred or so years what the corinthian women were doing in that day in that culture women showed a visible sign on their head that they were submitted to their husband and that visible sign was a veil on their head it was a culture it was a veil on on their head and it was it was it was telling oh if you seen a woman going down the road she had a veil on she was married saw a woman going down the road she had a veil on she was submitted to her husband but as corinth was a very wealthy port city lewdness began to come and women began to remove their veils as a sign that not necessarily that they were not married as much as that they were not under that old traditional yoke and they were showing this and it had it creeped its way into the church paul addresses it he says for if a woman be not covered he said if you're not going to be covered then verse number six let her also be shorn so if you're going to remove that in the culture that you're in in the culture that you're in if you're going to remove that paul said why don't you just go ahead and cut your hair said you're showing by your culture you're showing that you are not submitted to your husband why don't you just go ahead and just cut your hair he said let her also be shorn but if it be a shame for a woman now let me stop here because i've heard a lot of people fight these verses and say but carpenter it says shame it doesn't say sin it says shame really o lover of jesus christ really o passionate lover of jesus christ really what i'm saying is what i'm saying is would you want to have to bring shame no and sometimes where is there shame it's kind of like where there's smoke there's fire but if it be a shame for a woman to be shorn or shaven that's two conditions the word shorn there means to scissor and the word shaven there means a razor so it either means either shaving or or shearing let her be covered for six now he's he now he begins to explain he begins to explain why if a man is covered he dishonors his head and a woman is uncovered she dishonors her head he begins to explain the reason for the visible sign to mark the distinction verse 7. for a man indeed ought not to cover his head for as much as he is the image and glory of god but the woman is the glory of the man he said the reason a man should not cover his head is because he was made in the image and the likeness of god he was that first creature and he says so a man should not in in the order of creation the man should not cover his head because he is the image and the glory of god but the reason the woman should cover her head is the woman is the glory of the man and as a matter of fact this is something god gave to remind us of creation to remind us of our creator verse number 8 first corinthians 11 8 for a man is not of the woman that's correct but the woman of the man when you go back to creation adam did not come from eve eve came from adam and so god is talking about the covering or the hair god gave us the hair to mark our distinction short hair on men cut hair on men long hair uncut on women it has nothing to do with the pentecostal tradition it has everything to do with the distinction of male and female i'm one male tonight that i'm gonna go on record here republicans say i want to identify myself as a male 1 i want to be identified as a man i wonder if there's a woman here tonight that would i can't say join with me i want there's a woman tonight that would publicly say you know i want to be identified as a woman because god made me a man god made you a woman he says for indeed verse number seven for a man indeed ought not to cover his head for as much as he's the image and glory of god but the woman is the glory of the man for the man is not of the woman adam did not come out of eve but the woman came out of the man eve came out of adam verse 9 neither was the man created for the woman but the woman for the man in other words the reason the woman was needed was to be a completer to complete the full image of god was to complete that image neither was the man created for the woman but the woman for the man and now verse number 10 and i want us to to to really look at this for this cause ought the woman to have power on her head because of the angels now you say well why why does it not address the men here because the issue here in corinthians corinth was not the men he just simply uses the man to show the order but now he stops and he says for this cause ought the woman to have look at that word what is that word power the woman for this caused the woman to have for this cause ought the woman to have power on her head because of the angels wait a minute she ought to have power on her head because of the angels i want to show you something here in just a just a moment i'd like to show you verse number 9 or verse number 10 for this cause of the woman to have power on her head because of the angels what's the cause distinction for the cause of distinction the woman ought to have power now in acts chapter 1 verse number 8 says you shall receive power in first corinthians 10 11 says the woman is to have power on her head these are two separate greek words in acts 1 and 8 you shall receive power after that the holy ghost that is power that is power strength to do miracles power to do miracles but the power here is a different word and it simply means the power of choice the power to do what is right the power to do what is right for this cause the cause of distinction the woman should have power on her head because of the angels now let me give you let me give you a couple little translations here just a little a couple of translations um the new king james version says it this way for this reason the woman ought to have a symbol of authority on her head because of the angels another translation says for this reason and because of the angel because the angels are watching a woman should wear a covering on her head to show that she is under that she is under submission for this cause ought the woman to have power on her head because of the angels now let's think about this tonight in first peter in first peter excuse me in hebrews chapter 12 verse number 21 whether we are aware of this tonight or not doesn't matter there are angels in this place there are angels in this place whether we whether we agree with it or we you know we think i'm not so sure about that doesn't matter the bible will tell us in just a moment that there are angels here comparing the old testament to the new testament it says in verse number 21 so terrible was the sight talking about mount sinai that moses said i exceedingly fear and quake when he saw god come down on the mountain but in verse 22 he says but ye are come unto mount zion to the city of the living god the heavenly jerusalem the heavenly jerusalem and to an innumerable company of angels to the general assembly and church of the firstborn which are written in heaven and to the god of the judge and to the and to god the judge of all and to the spirits of just men made perfect can i tell you that when you come into the church according to hebrews 12 22 you have come into an innumerable number of angels so tonight there's an innumerable number of angels that are here how many are here brother carpenter i don't know it just says that when we come into the church and we become a part of the church that we come into the presence of an innumerable number of angels and paul talking about submission said that the woman should have power on her head because of the angels the angels have a lot to do in the new testament first peter chapter 1 verse number 10 says this first peter 1 and 10 of which salvation the prophets have inquired and searched diligently who prophesied of the grace that should come unto you searching what or what manner of time the spirit of christ which was in them did signify when it testified beforehand the sufferings of christ and the glory that should be that should follow unto whom it was revealed that not unto themselves but unto us they did minister the things which are now reported unto you by them that have preached the gospel unto you follow this now with the holy ghost sent down from heaven which thing things the angels desire to look into he's talking about the preaching of the gospel he's talking about the preaching of the apostolic message and then he couldn't stop without saying even the angels want to look into this even the angels want to look into this matthew chapter 4 11 jesus has fasted 40 days he's been tempted of the devil in matthew 4 11 it says these words then the devil leaveth him and behold angels came and ministered unto him first kings 19 5 and as he lay and slept under a juniper tree behold then the angel then the angel touched him and said unto him arise and eat hebrews chapter 1 verse 13 through 14 but to which of the angels said he at any time sit on my right hand until i make thine enemies thy footstool are they not all ministering spirits sent forth to minister for them who shall be heirs of salvation what are the angels here for to minister to who to you and i who shall be the heirs of salvation they ministered to jesus christ they ministered to the prophet elijah they are there and then hebrews 13 and 2. it's here hebrews 13 and 2 says be not forgetful to entertain strangers for thereby some have entertained angels unawares now what is paul talking about it really takes your attention it really will take your disciplined mind not just to brush over this verse because this verse here a woman ought to have power on her head because of the angels the angels the angels are not all knowing the angels are much like us they have to be directed by god and all the angels can see is what they can see and what god tells them now the angels the angels are very familiar with one of their own getting out of order because this whole hair business tonight this whole distinction is the adversary trying to get us out of order because god is not the god of confusion he's not the author of confusion this world is confused i probably never lived in a better day that i'm so thankful that i'm in the church you know i've been preaching sister press and i've been preaching long enough i remember a time that people used to think the world had the answers as a matter of fact i can remember a time when people would say we need to be as orderly as the government i can remember going to minister classes and they would use our government our branches of government that we need to have the proper decorum that they had can i tell you ever before you ought to be confident about the church it's now if there's ever a day you ought to walk through these doors every time and just lift your hands and say thank god i'm in the church thank god i'm in the church so the angels are very familiar with one of their own getting out of order oh yes oh yes in ezekiel chapter 28 verse 11 now i want to tell you that this prophecy that ezekiel was given he was referring to an earthly king but the prophecy reached back into eternity and addressed satan it says in ezekiel 28 and verse 11 moreover the word of the lord came unto me saying son of man take up a lamentation upon the king of tyrus and say unto him thus saith the lord god thou sealest that's a seal thou sealest up the sum you're full of wisdom and perfect in beauty thou hast been in in eden in the garden of god every precious stone was thy covering that's that's important covering you had stones for recovering the sardis the topaz the diamond the burl the onyx and the jasper the sapphire the emerald the carbuccal and the gold the workmanship of thy tablets or tambourines and of thy pipes was prepared in thee in the day that that was created thou art the anointed cherub that covereth i have set thee so thou was upon the holy mountain of god thou hast walked up and down in the midst of the stones of fire thou was perfect in thy ways from the day that thou was created till iniquity that's lawlessness was found in thee by the multitude of thy merchandise they have filled the midst to be with violence thou has sinned therefore will i cast thee as profaned out of the mountain of god and will destroy thee o covering cherub from the midst of the stones of fire thine heart was lifted up because of thy beauty thou has corrupted thy wisdom by reason of thy brightness i will cast thee to the ground i will lay thee before kings that they may behold thee you got to understand he's talking about satan the anointed cherub the angel the fallen angel satan lucifer was at one time an eternity past an angel that god had created put stones on him for a covering had a seal a seal is a visible badge of authority he was the anointed cherub but he got out of order he got out of his creative order and when he got out of his creative order god cast him down he lost his seal he lost his stones his covering as a matter of fact luke 10 18 says these words speaking of satan's fall jesus said unto them i beheld satan as lightning fall from heaven now it's interesting here it's very interesting satan because he got out of his order he wanted to be god right he said i will be like the most high god the problem was you were created a cherub you were created an angel you were created appraiser and you decide that you don't like what you were created to do so you're going to change yourself into god and god said no you're not i made you a cherub and that's what you're going to remain if you had remained in order you could still be playing music in eternity you could still have the beautiful stones and the seal but you got out of order and tried to be something that you're not can i tell you every man that attempts to be a woman is out of order and every woman every woman that wants to be a man is out of order it's out of order not going to work you're going to have all kind of psychological problems it's not going to work you know why it's not going to work it's not god's order he cast him out why is the devil the devil the devil is the devil because he got out of his creative order cast down to the earth but it's interesting it's interesting that the same stones it was on satan when god got ready to have a priesthood in exodus chapter 28 15 listen to what god says about their breastplate and thou shalt exodus 28 15 and thou shalt make the breastplate of judgment with cunning work after the work of the ephod shalt thou make it of gold blue purple scarlet fine twine linen shalt thou make it four square shall it be being doubled a span shall be the lent thereof and a span shall be the breath of and thou shalt sit it set in it the settings of stone four rows of stones first shall be sardis topaz carbuckle that's the first row second emerald sapphire diamond uh and it goes on and guess what it does it lists all the stones that was on satan because just because satan got out of order god didn't wash his hands and say i'm done with it he just simply said i've got another plan if satan doesn't want to follow my order i'll get a levitical priesthood i'll put the same stones it was up on satan and if they will walk up rightly before me i will leave them and i will guide them and guess what they will become a type of the new testament church because the new testament church is a royal priesthood and a holy nation god god said i'm going to bring it around guess what god did god took a lesser than an angel we are less than the angel it was kind of like in your face devil in your face you are a supreme being but because you try you got out of order i will reach down i will take something les weaker than you i will put my seal upon them and as long as they go by their natural god-given covenant and covering i will be upon them i will bless them that's what it means when it says that a woman ought to have power on her head because of the angels ladies tonight there are angels that are beholding you there are angels matter of fact not only ladies tonight but men tonight there are angels that are either going to help us or get away from us all based upon our submission if we don't submit our spirits to god the angels don't want to have anything to do with us because the angels know very well what happens to creative beings that get out of order they get cast down they get thrown down oh hallelujah oh my god the creative order of god please go back with me for a moment to first corinthians 11 and 11 i'm just going through this nevertheless neither is the man without the woman the woman did come out of the man but god balanced it nevertheless neither is the man without the woman neither the woman without the man in the lord in other words woman came out of a man but now it takes both a man and a woman to produce an offspring then he goes on and he says in verse 12 for as the woman is of the man even so is the man also by the woman but all things are of god look at how he balances this the head of every man is christ the head of every woman is the man and the head of christ is god so he brings this back around in the order of creation then he says verse number 13. judge in yourselves is it comely appropriate that a woman pray unto god uncovered he says in light of the culture a veil meant i'm submitted a veil meant i'm devoted i'm submitted to my husband a woman walking in the house of god without a veil said she's loose she's lewd and she's not under submission and paul just simply said i want you to judge is it comely is it appropriate of course the answer to that is no the answer to that is no he's letting them think he's what think their way through this the answer to is no but he didn't stop he says doth not even nature itself teach you you know we could have we could really learn a lot from nature because there's a lot of folks that want to try to tell us that this thing is a cultural thing it's not a cultural thing the distinction between a man and a woman with a mark of long uncut hair on a woman and short hair on a man is not a culture thing it's nature death not even nature itself teach you that if a man have long hair it is a shame to him what's he talking about if the man tried to get out of his order if the man tried to appear as a woman it's a shame but if a woman have long hair it is a glory to her for her hair is given her for a covering in other words paul just brings it back around and i really know that the holy ghost had paul to say this for our generation because the corinthian women were not battling cutting their hair but we are but we are because of culture we are battling it women and and let me just say this let me let me just let me just say this i have always tried to be tender and consider it when i preach this but we can never sell out that this kind of teaching needs to be done on an off church night could someone could someone could someone check and see if the catholic church on their mass if they have other other times that they'll talk about being catholic lest they offend somebody i i don't know i i don't i don't think if you showed up i don't think if you showed up at the catholic church sunday morning you filled out of israel's card and it said uh you put out i'm so-and-so from first apostolic church i don't think they get in the back room and say hey somebody bring out the organ and the drums hey tell the priest to loose his caller up and get to get red face and get the preaching because we got some apostolics here today but you'd be surprised at how many people want to try to satisfy everybody's palate that comes in so i'm afraid somebody's going to be defended i am too i'm afraid i'm going to offend little girls by not teaching this tonight i'm afraid i'm going to offend i'm afraid i'm telling you with all the spirits that are in the world today and we've got more young people questioning their their their uh their identity that they need to hear me say tonight if god made you a male then that's what you are if god made you a female then that's what you are accept that's who you are but if the woman have long hair and long is not a lint long as a condition long is not a length long is a condition you can have hair tonight that drags the floor but if you take scissors and cut one inch off of it you've got short hair or you may be here tonight with hair a little longer than mine and you may say i see this scripture i want the angels i want to have power on my head because of the angels i don't want the angels to listen the angels bring good things i wouldn't want to do something the angel said man i'm going to stay away from him don't don't get over there stay away from me it's a distinction and then verse number 16 is probably the most warped misinterpreted beat up twisted scripture in the bible verse 16. but if any man seem to be contentious we have no such custom neither the church is a god oh see there he says he it all matters that's not what that means it means if you're contentious if you're a quarreler about what i have just laid down i want you to know you're out of step with the other churches if any man seem to be contentious you're a quarreler you're you're you you you're you're fighting this he says i want you to know you're all by yourself guy we have no such custom neither the churches of god let me read you a few translations of this the litv translation says it this way but if anyone thinks to be contentious we do not have such a custom nor the assemblies of god the message bible i hope you're not going to be argumentative about
