i i believe that numbers can and do have a symbolic meaning in the bible and i but i'm not really one to see a to see a meaning in every number and i want to preface what i'm about to say i'm just not really one to see a a meaning in every number but the other day in prayer the lord began to bring before my eyes the year 2020 2021 and 2022. and is that it was as if he said that 2020 the year that covet hit that god stripped his church down to zero the last number of 2020 is zero it seemed like that we didn't know what to do in a lot of ways and then it seemed like that there was nothing we could do but lean on god he separated the church for a season we found ourselves limping we found ourselves getting back together and then dismissing and getting back together and then 2021 came and it was as if god had stripped us to nothing but the year of 2021 was a year of making the man whole understanding the strength that is within you too many times we're depending upon others around us and if somebody can pray for me and if somebody could touch god for me that lingo all changed because we found out that all by ourself in the number one that we could stand on our own we could pray our way out of intensive care we could pray our way out my brother can't come and touch me my sister can't come and touch me i'm all by myself and then god showed me 2022 that's just a few days away and he said 2022 is i'm gonna put you back together i brought them two by two into the ark i sent them out two by two to preach the gospel you have paul and silas you have peter and john and god is telling me that in the year 2022 that he's going to bind us back together again old relationships are going to be mended new relationships are going to be formed and they're all going to be for the glory give him a hand of praise right now do you believe that word this morning how many is looking forward to 2022 if you have your bibles and would open them with me to the book of genesis if god wants the altar call first god gets the altar call first amen genesis 20 genesis 22 i'm about to say genesis 20 22 you'd be hard-pressed to find it genesis 22 and verse 7 and isaac spake unto his father abraham and said my father and he said here am i my son and he said behold the fire and the wood but where is the lamb for a burnt offering abraham said my son god shall provide himself a lamb for a burnt offering so they both went both of them together john chapter 1 and verse number 36 and looking upon jesus as he walked he saith behold the lamb of god first peter 1 and verse 19 but with the precious blood of christ as of a lamb without blemish and without spot revelation 5 and verse 6 and i beheld and lo in the midst of the throne and of the four beasts in the midst of the elder stood a lamb as it had been slain having seven horns and seven eyes which are the seven spirits of god sent forth into all the earth i start a series this morning that will go through the month of december the series and without knowing what the choir was singing this morning the series that is entitled i'll be home for christmas i'll be home for christmas father i love you i thank you for your mercy for your grace you're an awesome god you're a good god you're a lover of all men you're a lover of all people oh yes you are i love you god i praise you in jesus name amen you may be seated i'll be home for christmas before i get into my uh first lesson in this series i want to tell you this been a most exciting week i think that history was made on tuesday morning if you would give me the picture on the screen i was privileged and honored to baptize as a picture that i had given before service i was privileged and i was honored um do we have that picture please still working on it all right gave it to him before church today all right maybe we'll just i'll just save that for a little bit later just hold the picture i'll save that for a little later god is great and god is greatly to be praised he is great and he is greatly to be praised this series i'll be home for christmas the main focus of any church is to show you who jesus christ is to show you who jesus christ is we don't need some philosophy to pick us up and make us feel good if we can if we can preach jesus that's all we'll need he'll manifest himself the bible is absolutely the old testament is intentionally filled with typology and figures that speak of new testament realities it is intentionally in other words god placed them there on purpose it was his tent intent he placed them there on purpose because these figures in the old testament would represent and remove all doubt of the true fulfillment of the new testament for example i read to you several passages of scriptures about abraham going to the mountain to offer his son and his son not knowing that he was the sacrifice his son asking where is the lamb where is the lamb and in verse 8 abraham prophesied and said that god would provide himself a lamb that god would provide himself that lamb isaiah or isaac asked where's the lamb abraham prophesied and said god will provide himself that lamb throughout the old testament a lamb is used for redemption it was the blood of the lamb that was on the doorpost in egypt a lamb becomes the typology of the reality of the salvation that is in jesus christ john would fulfill this in the verse that i read that as he beheld jesus as he walked he made a public declaration a public declaration behold the lamb of god that takes away the sin of the world after the church was birthed at pentecost peter would tell the church that we have been purchased with the precious blood of the lamb in the book of revelation in the book of revelation the apostle or john the revelator gives us a kind of a a view of the drama of redemption a play a drama he presents he sees a lamb as it had been slain he sees an animal a lamb that had been slain he says something unusual about this lamb this lamb has seven eyes and this lamb has seven horns and this lamb comes before the throne of god and takes out of the the hand of the one on the throne a book a book that no man was ever worthy to open but this lamb was able to open the book and to loose the seals and to have the plan of redemption unfold in our lives i want to say this morning that i am so thankful that god had a plan of redemption salvation healing and deliverance for his people amen god had a plan we understand when we study the life of a man in the old testament by the name of joseph that joseph is filled with typology of jesus christ and i want to share a few of them with you this morning joseph the 11th son of jacob please do not confuse him as i use his name joseph i am referencing the joseph that is the 11th son of jacob who would be known as israel as we see typology in joseph genesis 30 and verse number 23 the bible speaking of joseph's mother says and she conceived and bear a son and said god had taken away my reproach and she called his name joseph and said the lord shall add to me another son now brother hammond the name joseph is very interesting in topology because the name of joseph is composed of two words there are two words that make up the name joseph one of those words signify together together and to take away the first part of his name means to gather and to take away while the last part of his name means to add another son so when he was born his mother rachel said he has taken away my reproach he has this baby this child has gathered my reproach and has taken them away but that's only half his name the other half of his name means and he shall add a son so now let's look at this typology because it's very beautiful this joseph means he's going to take away sin or reproach and in place he's going to bring he is going to bring a son now let's follow on go with me to genesis chapter 35 verse number 16. remember keep in mind that this joseph is an old testament typology of our lord and savior jesus christ he's an old testament typology now notice this genesis chapter 35 verse number 16 and as they journeyed from bethel and there was but a little way to come to f wrath and rachel travailed and she had hard labor now the last time rachel had given birth she said this she said he's taken away my reproach and he shall add another son now this is coming to pass rachel is in hard labor she comes upon this place called eth wrath she travailed and she had hard labor and it came to pass that when she was in hard labor that the midwife said unto her fear not thou shalt have this son also and it came to pass that as her soul was departing for she died that she called his name benoni but his father called him benjamin and rachel died it's very interesting where she gave birth to this added son rachel died and was buried in the way to ephrath which is bethlehem we know someone else that was born in bethlehem that is the fulfillment of joseph because joseph's name is double it means god will gather reproach god will gather sin so if you if you've got any sin today i want you to know that what has happened the last hour in this service is the lovely lord jesus christ by way of his spirit has walked through this auditorium with a a a if i could say a garbage bag if you please he's walked through this place saying could i gather your sin could i take your reproach could i gather your will you will you cast it right here will you cast it right here because i am the gatherer because you know what i want to do with it i don't want to take it and download it onto a file and keep it in remembrance i want to take this and i want to take it away i am the great gatherer of sin and i am the one that's going to take it to take it away the name means together part of his name means together to take away and the other part means add to a son well let's look let's look and see how this ties in i've already read you this verse with jesus christ john 1 29 the next day john seeth jesus coming unto him and saith behold the lamb of god what does he do would you read it out loud with me which taketh what does jesus do he gathers together and takes away the sin of the world colossians chapter 2 verse 13. this is interesting in reference to jesus christ colossians 2 and 13. and you being dead in your sins it's interesting to know now please understand that anytime you get into the book of romans you you go from the book of acts to the book of romans through jude those are written to saved people people are already saved they're already born again the epistles the epistles uh the epistles are letters of instruction of how born-again people should live all right they're letters of instruction so to the church to the church colossians 2 13 and you being dead in your sins and the uncircumcision of your flesh hath he which is jesus christ quicken which means to be made alive together with him having forgiven you all trespasses blotting out the handwriting of ordinances that was against us which was contrary to us and took it out of the way nailing it to his cross now this this is an illusion here this is a reference here to a custom that i read about that when you were going to cancel a debt or a bond you were going to cancel some edict or decree that was against you that you took all the paperwork and you put it together and folded it up and you would drive a nail through all the papers and they were not legible you could not read them they would keep nailing nails through the accusation until they were you they were not legible you could not read what the what the accusation was the dead had been paid it had been sufficed and they would nail and nail and nail until if you got up there and you tried to see all you could see was the nails and not the accusations oh doesn't that fit in with what god has done for us didn't god take all of our sins to his cross is he not a type of joseph did he not come and gather together did he not remove the reproach can i tell you i know that young man that got up and testified this morning i know that young prodigal that returning prodigal that got up i i saw him when he was serving god preaching the gospel and i saw him when he was a prodigal and i have seen him now that he has come back home and can i tell you the time he was a prodigal he hung his head low the time he was a prodigal he didn't want to have much conversation with me the time he was a prodigal he wanted to he wanted to kind of dodge and he wanted to get away because it reminded him of what he once was but when he became when he came back home the great gatherer of our reproaches the great one that comes and says i am the type of jesus christ i will gather i will gather i will gather as a matter of fact when he was born when joseph was born rachel said he's not only a gatherer but there's coming one more son there's coming one more son more sun is coming and that sun did come and that sun typology was birthed to a mother that went into labor around a city called bethlehem sound familiar sound familiar and when she gave birth to that son the mama or the flesh got overcome with sorrow and pain and she said his name is bononi bononi son of sorrow son of sorrow i don't know about you but in the bible days people's names meant something if you called somebody by that name of bononi you looked at them and thought man i wonder what was going on in their life that mother his mother would give him such a terrible name son of sorrow but an interesting thing takes place here because jesus christ fulfilled both of these things does our bible not tell us that jesus christ is a man of sorrow and acquainted with grief can i tell you jesus christ can identify with every dysfunctional person in this room right now jesus christ can identify with your hurt he can identify with your hang up he can identify with everything about you today because he was a man of sorrow and an acquaintance listen to that word an acquaintance with grief you you talk about an acquaintance that's someone you're kin to that's someone you're joined to he said i'm kin to trouble i'm all about trouble i came to this world you know why i came to this world because this world was in trouble you know why people come to church because they're in trouble and there's nothing wrong with that don't you allow the adversary to keep you away from here to you because become perfect because there's no such thing if you could become perfect without jesus christ why would you need jesus christ but the truth of the matter is you cannot help yourself a bit more than you can jump flat footed and touch the moon we are hopelessly lost but praise be to god i'll be home for christmas praise be to god there is a savior that is a great gatherer yes i did have the name of son of sorrow yes i did have the name of son of sorrow yes i did have this name and that name and you had this name and you had that name but the father stepped in and the father said his name's not going to be son of sorrow his name is going to be benjamin his added son is going to be called benjamin which simply put benjamin means son of my right hand son of my honor son of my acceptance he's not going to be known as as a matter of fact you've studied your bible if you want to know about anything in the bible go to the law of first mention go wherever it's first mentioned start from there you'll get a true meaning of whatever it is if you'll use the law of first first mention go right there the first time right hand is mentioned is right here and right hand when he said you're the son of my right hand he wasn't talking about a literal opposite of left right hand men meant a place of acceptance a place of acceptance that's why god began to move today when we started singing welcome home we started singing that song about welcome home spirit started moving because god is all about you coming home he's all about you coming home spirit of god started moving and he stepped out in the first part of his name and the first part of his name means take away the reproach and gather it up and take it away but he's not just going to leave you here in this altar with your sins gone he's got the next part of his name which is a son of acceptance a son of power and authority he's just not going to take away your sin i'm glad for the promise of the gift of the holy ghost i'm glad that part of his name means he takes away my sin but you see if all he does is come and takes away my sin and leaves me like i am then i'm going to go back to my sin but if he fills me with his spirit i am the son of his right hand i am the son of power aren't you glad you have the holy ghost today i am glad i got the holy ghost son of my right hand son of honor son of acceptance i accept him i honor him he's the son of my right hand benjamin son of my right hand benjamin born close to bethlehem benjamin there well let's look at what jesus how jesus identifies mark 16 19. so then after the lord had spoken unto them he was received up into heaven and set on the right hand of god now let's get that in his proper place there is no other name under heaven whereby you must be saved because there is no other name that can connect you with god but the name of jesus christ who is jesus christ who is jesus christ jesus christ is a man that through the cross found a place of acceptance and honor and power with god so when we call his name today although he is not here visibly with us something happens when we call that name because that name connects us to the man christ jesus who is at the right hand of god which means not a literal right hand but he is at a place of honor and acceptance and power with god all things throw through him to him and from him benjamin didn't always walk on the right hand of jacob when he said you're benjamin you're the son of my right hand it doesn't mean that he was always on his right hand he meant he looked at him and said you are the son of power you are the son of acceptance joseph has been born and the reproach has been gathered together and taken away and the promise of you has come listen to jesus in luke 22 69 hereafter luke 22 69 jesus speaks and says hereafter shall the son of man sit on the right hand of the power of god acts chapter 2 and verse number 33 peter was preaching this to those that gathered around the upper room in amazement and wonder of how they are speaking in tongues peter says to them let me explain it to you in acts 2 33 therefore being by the right hand of god exalted talking about jesus christ therefore being by the right hand of god exalted and having received of the father the promise of the holy ghost he hath shed forth this which ye now see and hear listen that did don't take it literal because you lose the whole meaning of it a right hand of god didn't reach down to the tomb and raised him out of that tomb how did he get out of that tomb by the power of god by the power of almighty god he was exalted what caused that man to come alive again god what caused that man that was born to take away our sin what caused him to be able to multitude bread multiply bread and fish god what caused that man to defy the law of gravity and step out on the water and walk on the water god is what god is what what what was in him it was god that caused him to do these things now we have now we have the son of god and the son of man the son of god was the part of joseph's name that was to gather and take away our sin you cannot crucify god you cannot kill god man cannot crucify god god had to take on a body that could be the payment of those sins and praise god his name is jesus we are connected with him through the name of jesus the bible recounts a time when a preacher stephen was ministering and the religious people got very upset he got very upset they got very upset that he was preaching and he said to them your your stiff neck you won't turn from your religion you won't turn from your traditions you're stiff-necked and you're because you won't turn your heart is hardened they got very upset with him and begin to physically push on him but acts chapter 7 verse 55 in the midst of pushing in the midst of the growling at him in the midst of this the bible says but he speaking of stephen but he being full of the holy ghost looked up steadfastly into heaven and saw the glory of god and jesus standing on the right hand of god now if you're going to be literal here if you're going to be literally here you've got some configuration of person number two standing on the right hand of person number one just dismiss that that theology came from the third century that theology does not come from the typology of the bible he didn't see person two standing on the right hand a person one what he saw was the glorified watch it again look at it again he saw the glory of god and jesus standing on the right hand of god look at verse 56 and saith behold i see the heavens opened and the son of man standing on the right hand of god what stephen saw that day was the glorious relationship of jesus christ the man exalted by the power of god at a place of acceptance with god since adam failed there was no man that was ever accepted no abraham no noah no no no isaac no there was no man no job there was no man to ever be accepted but when god became flesh god become a man and the man christ jesus was accepted went to a hill called golgotha hung up on a cross and all of the sins that had ever been committed from adam and eve all the way god wrote a blank check he wrote a blank check to the end of time he said i'll i'll nail all listen he not only nailed the sins that had been committed but he went ahead and nailed the ones that would be committed he nailed them to his cross that faith in his name it takes faith to come to jesus christ it takes faith to believe in the lord jesus christ he's not looking for the perfect today he's looking for somebody that will just believe he is a gatherer of sin he's a gatherer of sin would you praise him with me for a moment could we exalt the lovely name of jesus today come on could we praise him this morning i love you jesus i praise you jesus i magnify you jesus romans chapter 8 verse number 34 who is he that condemneth he says who is condemning who is condemning who is he that condemneth that's a question and then he answers it anybody condemning well i got news for you it is christ that died ye rather that is risen again who is even at the right hand of god who maketh intercession for us can i tell you you need to be on a good relationship with jesus christ because he's praying for you he's praying for you when you don't know that he's praying for you he's praying for you i don't know about you but isn't it comforting when somebody doesn't know you're coming and you walk in on somebody that's praying and they're calling your name isn't that comforting can i tell you that right now he ever liveth to make intercession for you he's praying for you to make it he's praying that you will put your faith in him he's praying that you'll shake yourself from sleep he's praying that you'll stop looking for your answers in the world come on folks come on folks your answer is not in the world when are you gonna get tired of the world letting you down when are you gonna get tired of getting tangled up in the world how long is it going to take how many years are you going to stay out there in the world why don't you just come on home this morning why don't you just come on home for christmas come on why don't you just make up in your mind this morning i'm going to come home y'all hear me this morning y'all y'all hear what i'm saying he's praying for you he's praying that you'll stop that foolishness he's praying for you when joseph was born he said she said there'll be another son given there'll be another everybody say another when when when joseph was born rachel said another is coming another is coming jesus christ came jesus christ is a dual nature jesus christ is both the one that takes a sin and the one that adds another watch this in matthew chapter 3 and verse 11 see if you can get out of this what i seem to look at in scripture jesus says i indeed excuse me it's john the baptist here john the baptist says i indeed baptize you with water unto repentance but he that cometh after me is mightier than i whose shoes i am not worthy to bear he shall baptize you with the holy ghost and fire now this is saint john that said behold the lamb of god that takes away the gatherer the the lamb of god that gathers reproaches and takes them away but don't stop there with his name because he just didn't come together and take away he also said i have baptized you with water unto repentance but there's coming one after i've already told you about him he's the gatherer of your sins but he's not just the gatherer of your sins he shall baptize you with the holy ghost and fire he's got something else to give you jesus plainly said in john 14 and verse number 16 jesus plainly says i will pray the father and he shall give you another comforter that he may abide with you forever he says hey the cross is not the end i want you to understand this the cross is not the end thank god for the cross the cross is like a road to get to god a road to get to heaven but the cross is not a dead end it is not a dead end at the cross once we come to the cross then we go through the cross to pentecost and it is at pentecost that we receive the wonderful oh and if you have never received the holy ghost today listen it is joy unspeakable and full of glory if you're here this morning and and a lot of times people have heard the wrong news and and and they've they've heard a lot of things that are not scripturally sound about the baptism of the holy ghost and and all this but i'm going to tell you something god has a gift for you and i hope you come home for christmas there is a gift under the tree for you it's not all about the tree it's not all about the tree god has a gift under the tree for you and it's for you it's for you it is for you if you're here today i'm talking to you if you're here today and you've never received the gift the baptism of the holy ghost you say well i you know somebody told me when i believed that i had it and and when you when you believed that's wonderful you got started but when you believed that didn't mean that you automatically had the gift of the holy ghost the the believing upon jesus christ as your savior and receiving the baptism of the holy ghost is two separate experiences that god it's kind of like a ball game it's kind of like a ball game go atlanta braves it's kind of like the ball game right you're at home plate but there's no score up there yet you got to get to first base right you know home base is home bases you believe you're in the ball game that's believing you're at home base and you believe that you're in the ball game and you're there you believe you believe but first base is repentance you believe that you're a sinner in need of the help of god and what can wash away i know it's elementary today but sometimes i think we as a church need to go back because we can get real bored with christianity if we ever get away from the fact that it was we were purchased we were purged he took away our sins it is really real he died on a cross he was the gatherer of our reproach and if we lose sight of that we can drift back into this being a cold dead religion but praise god we repent of our sins we go before a god who is willing and able to forgive us of our sins and we get to first base but just because you're at first base doesn't mean there's a score up there you got to get to second base and that's that's when and i believe it's going to happen in just a few moments there's going to be some people get baptized in the name of jesus christ who is jesus christ the one who died for us the one who died for us now they're going to be baptized in the name of jesus christ not to join this local church baptism has never been in the bible to join a local church and it is not even that jesus was baptized and we ought to be a good a good follower of jesus christ and be baptized it's not for that i'm sorry that's religion that's religion leaves you cold leaves you empty leaves you powerless but while we're taking the people to the water there's nothing sim there's there's nothing special about the water it's not imported from the holy land it's important it's imported right down from one of these rivers around here or lakes around here somewhere that's all the water because the power is not in the water the power is in the act that is in accordance to the word of god if we speak the word of god god's power shows up ezekiel prophesied of these dead bones when we baptize this morning this person who has repented of their sins they are going to go down has god forgiven them yes god has forgiven them but god wants to give you justification because if god forgives you you still carry the guilt you still carry the shame you still carry the reproach you've been you've been forgiven brother hammond but you still got a sack of garbage you still got a pile of reproach in your life but through the miraculous word of the living god when they say today upon the profession of your faith and in obedience to the word of god i now indeed baptize you in the name of the lord jesus christ for the remission of your sin and they go under that water ladies and gentlemen brothers and sisters i don't know how naaman was healed i don't know how water was turned into wine but i don't have to know all i know is that our sins are remitted and they're removed and then we are promised the gift of the holy ghost that's third base that's third base and man after you get the holy ghost you're ready to go home you're ready to go home i'm telling you you need the baptism of the holy it's for you it's for you it's a gift it's a it's called the gift of the holy ghost well i think i'll just put a stopper right here on my series i'll be home for christmas i think i'll just stop right here joseph in the old testament was hated by his brothers but he was loved by his father his brothers hated him and could not speak peaceably unto him but the bible says that his father jacob loved him and gave him a visible sign a visible sign of his love his brothers hated him his father loved him and gave him a visible sign a coat of many colors a long coat that royalty wore jesus came to this earth and at the age of 30 at the age of 30 at the age of 30 joseph's coat of many colors represented royalty and one who would be served he was not in a place of royalty and servant until he was 30 years old and pharaoh put him in that role jesus christ in matthew 3 16 jesus christ is at the age of 30 years old and the bible says in jesus when he was baptized went up straightway out of the water and lo the heavens were opened unto him and he saw the spirit of god descending like a dove and lighting upon him and a voice from heaven saying this is my beloved son in whom you don't miss that this is my son in whom i am i'm i'm in in him in whom i am well pleased jesus has the love the man trusts jesus has the love of his father but you know as well as i do he walks in the hatred of his own he came unto his own and his own received him not they hated him they cast him out they would not hear him joseph was hated by his brothers cast into a pit but his father loved him jesus christ hated by his own it wasn't the romans that crucified jesus it was his own crucified by his own but loved by his father i think i'll stop right there would you stand with me this morning would anybody like to come to the altar today would you bow your heads with me this morning all over this building your pastor needs your help this morning if you're a lover of jesus christ and you're you're in a healthy relationship with him i need you to join my ministry this morning i need you to begin to pray right now it'd be a tragedy that anyone under the sound of my voice would leave here today lost be a tragedy for anybody to carry their garbage back out their reproach their sin all over this building today i would like for the i would like for the sinner i would like for the prodigal to hear you pray today would you help me this morning would you help me this morning in the name of the lord jesus christ the name of the lord jesus christ in the name of the lord jesus christ hallelujah oh in the name of jesus christ today in the name of jesus christ today please every head is bowed and every eye is closed and no one is looking around today please young lady release yourself from that pew and come to this altar right now as a minister of jesus christ i ask you today he wants to gather your sins and take them away right now please young man please young man let go of the back of that seat and make your way up to the front this morning and bow in this altar you're walking down here as a sign you're walking down is a sign of your faith this morning would you come right now would you come would you be home for christmas would you be home for christmas would you be home for christmas oh would you be home right now the altar is open the altar is open today it's your chance it's your opportunity you can come and receive the gift of the holy ghost right now you can come and receive the gift of the holy ghost right now would you come and one has already come and that's wonderful today who who'll be the next one to come who'll be the
