i'm going to do something a little bit different tonight open up your bibles with me to genesis chapter 2 and verse number one two and three i know that we have we we preach from this text over the weekend but i still it's in my spirit and i just want to kind of continue i can't open my bible without going here and i just want to continue to talk about these verses of scripture genesis 2 verses 1 2 and 3. thus the heavens and the earth were finished and all the hosts of them and on the seventh day god ended his work which he had made and he rested on the seventh day from all the work which he had made and god blessed the seventh day and sanctified it because that in it he had rested from all of his work which god had created and god had made the words blessed and anointed you may be seated in jesus name ushers please do not go off duty we are going to receive the offering it's just going to be in a few moments that we received the offering thank you so much what about our praise team tonight did they not just do absolutely come on could we make a little bit more noise thank you sister erickson y'all get here just thank them thank them tonight and how about how about our sound man brother andy holland anybody got a hand for brother andy tonight he is um he is outstanding in his field amen and matter of fact that's what your daddy told me about you the other day said you ought to be outstanding in the field amen no it's a joke i'm sorry it's a joke this sabbath day has got a hold of me because as i study this sabbath day i am beginning to see as never before how biblically correct we are to gather together on a specified godly appointed time the bible says that the verses that we read tonight that on the seventh day god rested now i don't know about you brother naomi but sometimes when i read a verse of scripture and i'm never quite at peace about and god rested or i'm just saying that there's a part of it that i i am i i'm just not at peace about it i'll study it and i'll look at it and i say well this this must be this must be uh the meaning and then as you begin to research words out words have meaning and especially the words that are used in english in our bible and so i kept doing research on the word rested because i believe we all understand tonight that god was not exhausted god was not tired as as we get tired and brother erickson i found out that the word rest or rested means to celebrate it means to celebrate as you dig into the meaning of the word rest it means to reflect upon something in order to celebrate in other words you're celebrating you're celebrating an event you rested you're you're you're celebrating i know that word to us today doesn't have to do with celebrate we just use the word celebrate but in the bible when it said and god rested on the seventh day it simply means that god celebrated he celebrated now that's that's a that that's something for us to think about tonight because i i don't know if we seldom ponder that god celebrates now we understand we celebrate god we can get a good image that we celebrate but we have scripture tonight that that that god celebrates that god threw a party that god celebrated well what did god celebrate well god celebrated the six days of creation he celebrated the fact through a party celebrated his creative acts what he what he did god god celebrated now now i'm going to tell you uh i just begin to understand when i when i dug up that word and god celebrated then it began to kind of open up to me that god had made a work that he celebrated in and then i went on and i began to read not only that god rested that means celebrate but then i saw that god blessed the seventh day he blessed the seventh day and as i began to do deep research into this word blessed the word has the imagery of offering a gift to someone offering a gift to someone if i if i say i i bless you i bless you will you know that a blessing is good and if i say i bless you in the name of the lord i bless you in the name of the lord you know that i am i'm i'm i'm attempting to give you something that is good so now when i i studied that god rested god celebrated the six days of creation and then god turned around and he gave the sixth day as a gift now who did he give the gift to he didn't give the gift to himself he gave the gift of the seventh day he celebrated and he gave the gift of the seventh day to the highest creature that he had created and that was man he celebrated he threw a party he rejoiced and then he turned around and said to man this is this is the seventh day this is a day that i am giving you as a gift i'm giving you this day as a gift well i don't want to i don't want to go into the gift right now as much as i want to nail away or hammer away at the fact that god celebrates deuteronomy chapter 30 and verse number nine i want you to get the image of this deuteronomy 30 and verse number nine and the lord thy god will make thee plenteous in every work of thine hand in the fruit of thy body and in the fruit of thy cattle and in the fruit of thy land for good for the lord will again rejoice over thee for good as he rejoiced over thy fathers now now again i will get up and tell the church church let's rejoice in the lord and we'll begin to offer up praise but can we fathom the fact that the god that we serve whose name is jesus is rejoicing over us he is celebrating and rejoicing i would say that god wants to get in on the party amen god wants to celebrate god wants to celebrate with us so we see that he rejoices over now the word rejoice is an interesting word because the word rejoice simply means and that where they got the image from rejoice you run all these words back you get the image when an untrained horse would want to take its neck brother brad and go in circles like this right here they said i better watch it they said they said that horse is rejoicing when that young full of energy horse would begin to spin like this they would say that horse is rejoicing so now not only get the image of our god celebrating but now get the image of our god spinning round and round and if you need i i should have had some past video clips of our dear brother bruce that moved back home to new mexico now if anybody was an analogy of somebody spinning that man was an analogy of somebody spinning all right and i mean that man was rejoicing all right can you imagine god when we are walking in obedience oh i can't hardly hold myself now when we are walking in obedience to his word it causes god to want to rejoice it causes god to want to get happy and god to rejoice well let's read on isaiah chapter 62 and verse number five look at isaiah 62 and verse number five for as a young man marrieth a virgin so shall thy sons marry thee and as the bridegroom rejoiceth spins around over the bride so shall thy god rejoice over thee now i want to tell you something one of my most favorite things about marrying people one of my most favorite favorite things is i love about the whole ceremony all the mushy love songs and all that that's all well and good all the reflections and all of that's all well and good but i tell you what i love to capture is that part where the music hits that certain key that tells us that the bride is about to come through the back door and i love to catch a glimpse of the groom and i love to catch a glimpse of the bride it's one of the most beautiful moments if you're here tonight you're a photographer and you do weddings don't ever miss that moment all right because that's a that's a it's a once in a lifetime moment when that young man for the first time sees his bride in that wedding dress and that bride sees that she's walking down the aisle and they that they're just something about that look now let's now let's apply it to god oh friend when we walk upright with god he's got a look in his eye like a groom that's about to get married he's got a look in his eye he's got a longing look in his eye because his bride hath made herself ready and not only does the groom have a look in his eye i want to say to us the church we've got to look in our eye too we we love the lord jesus we love him and and we have got that look in our eye also now not only was my mind blown with the fact that god celebrates not only was my mind blown with the fact that god rejoices he spins in circles but zephaniah chapter chapter 3 and verse 17 zephaniah chapter 3 and verse 17 something else the lord thy god in the midst of thee is mighty it's a good place to say amen the lord thy god in the midst of thee is mighty he will save he will rejoice over thee with joy he will rest in his love he will joy over thee with singing come on now i understand us singing to god i understand us telling god how great he is and how mighty he is in us singing to god but have you ever stopped for a moment to think that god is singing over us as we're singing oh how i love jesus he's saying oh how i love my church oh how i love my church oh how i love my church you ever think about that today that the god that we serve is not this far-off aloof being that we're trying to identify with he rejoices over us he celebrates over us he created a seventh day only for the fact to celebrate it and then hand it to you and i and say here the seventh day is a gift it is it is a gift it is a gift for you now we understand this part don't we that god never gives a gift that we don't need now you know as well as i do come on now kind of lean up i'm gonna say something i don't want everybody to hear you know it's gift giving time right and you know you're gonna get some gifts that you know thank you for this lava lamp i appreciate i thank you oh thank you for that subscription to weight watchers i appreciate that i right but can i tell you god doesn't give lava lamps god gives us what we need so when you understand that god created the seventh day turned around filled it full of celebration then he turned around and blessed it and said this is what man needs we understand who the who the sabbath day is for in mark chapter 2 and verse number 27 everybody still here mark chapter 2 and verse number 27 listen to the words of jesus and he said unto them the sabbath was made for who for man and not man for the sabbath who was the sabbath made for man why did god make a seventh day and celebrate and hand it to us for a gift because he said you're going to need this gift why are we going to need this gift is because we are all filled with desire desire as human beings as being made in the image and the likeness of god brother hammond we all have desire we all have desire now here's the thing desire was intended to be a motivator not a controller desire should motivate you but your desire should never control you and i i'm going to explain that in just a moment because god knew that we need a blessed day in order to put a governor a controller on our desires now ecclesiastes chapter one and verse number eight we all have desire it is to be a motivator but not a controller it is to lead us to something to help us ecclesiastes chapter one and verse number eight all things are full of labor all things are full of labor man cannot utter it the eye is not satisfied with seeing nor the ear filled with hearing the new king james brings this out a little clearer all things are full of labor man cannot express it the eye is not satisfied with seeing nor the ear filled with hearing that's what the wise man writes is that desire man's desire can never be filled it can never be complete it will never be filled outside of god because we were made by god we were made for god and we cannot exist without god we were made by god we were made for god and just listen to this tonight you will never be satisfied without god i don't care how rich you get how educated you get how married you get how unmarried you get how popular you get you will never be satisfied without god never be satisfied without god you need something to keep you in check you need some day you need a day that's a gift from god that stops all of your work why do you work because of your desire we live in the culture of more more more more we have got the most restless culture that has ever been i think one word describes the culture that we're living in right now it's restless you know why it's restless they have not taken advantage of the seventh day god created for us because he promised on the seventh day to give us what we're looking for in material things he promised to give us rest it's joy unspeakable and it's full of glory you can't look at it under a microscope and figure it out there's just something about jesus that fulfills you there's just something about him you can't explain it you can't explain that before church tonight you had the weight of the world upon your shoulders but a few moments through the prayer room and a few moments singing songs to jesus and all of a sudden you were tired before you got here almost talked yourself out of coming but right now you're up and thinking man i'm glad i didn't miss this i i feel real good in the house of the lord tonight can i tell you that's the mystery of the sabbath rest yeah you can't you can't explain it you can't explain it it is simply the mystery of the sabbath rest why did god give us this gift to protect us against greed to protect god's people against the belief that we ought to work 24 7 so we can have more and more and more and more and the people that do that end up having less and less and less and less he gave them the sabbath day to protect them against greed why did why did he want to protect this generation against greed well the children of israel had 435 years of witnessing greed at its highest they were slaves they understood about they understood about greed because they lived in the mighty land of egypt and egypt was a land of greed it was a land of more and they were the workforce that gave egypt more so if any people knows about greed it's the israelites because they don't have a day off because greed will never give you a day off greed will cause you to want something and once you get it greed will turn around and make you discontented and make you want what's that word more more exodus chapter 1 and verse number 11 kind of gives us a little analogy here exodus chapter 1 verse number 11 therefore they did set over them taskmasters the egyptians made slaves out of the israelites to afflict them with their burdens and they built who built the israelites built for pharaoh treasure cities python and ramses now i did a little research on the city of python python simply means a city for storage a city for storage now the culture that wants more will be a culture that will need storage that will need storage because they they want more but also they not only built cities a python a city for storage but they also built ramses ramsey is the city of the sun now python was the city that you stored you're more in ramses was the city that you looked it was the cities of the limitless possibilities of tomorrow the hopes that we have more for tomorrow because what i already have in my storage in python doesn't satisfy i got to have another city of expectation of ramses i found this little bit of information on storage units storage units storage units in the united states is a 38 billion not million billion storage units in the united states is a 38 billion dollar industry taking up 2.3 billion square feet this is enough for every american every single american every american to have over seven square feet to themselves meaning we could practically house our entire nation tonight in storage units why is that because we are a culture of more more got so much don't have enough garage for it got to park the car out in the driveway got so much don't all the little out the little little sheds out back can't hold got to go down and pay somebody some more money to store what more more do you know that you own more than one pair of shoes tonight that you're in the upper echelon of wealth and the population of the world if you own more than one pair of shoes globally you are in the upper class no doubt tonight the reason we're in a nation of more is because we're in one of the most restless nations that's ever been i don't want to be in part of that restless i don't want to be a part of that restless generation i don't want my wife i don't want my children or my grandchildren to grow up being indoctrinated by the culture of america i want our children to be i want us all i want to teach i want to teach this body of people the greatest gift that god could ever give to us was a day and it was given to us as a day that we needed and it's a day that if we will come into the house of god on that day and we will worship the one true and living god and be in love with him we won't fall prey to the spirit of more that's in the world today when you've got jesus what more do you need when you've got the king of kings and the lord of lords you've got the midnight healer you've got the lawyer of all lawyers you've got the great physician you've got the soon-coming king what more could we ever need come on worship him right now come on he's here in your midst tonight he's here in your midst tonight would you worship him oh can we do just a little bit better than that oh don't let him pass you by tonight oh what you need tonight is right here in this place he's as close as just the mention of his name oh thank you jesus for letting me get here tonight god i got here without a car wreck god i'm i'm in my right mind tonight god all my family's here with me tonight god lord i give you praise and i give you honor lord i magnify your holy name god oh jesus you satisfy oh jesus you satisfy me lord more you satisfy me please don't pass up that opportunity jesus is here tonight don't waste your opportunity don't be like the man in luke chapter 12 verse number 13 please don't be like this who was jesus god manifest in the flesh who was jesus the open the one that could open blind eyes unstopped deaf ears raise the dead teach the deep things of god he's teaching here in luke chapter 12 verse 13. and as he's teaching somebody interrupts him and one of the companies said unto him master speak to my brother that he divide the inheritance with me can you imagine that in the audience of god and all you can think about is more as he was teaching the deep things of god things that would have changed his life changed his marriage altered the way that his kids would end up in life all he could think about was more more can i tell you tonight if we don't break the shackles if we don't break the chains of that horrible spirit of greed upon us he will put our children in chains he will put our grandchildren in chains it will alter their lives they won't be in a church pew worshiping god they'll be in some rehab place trying to get off drugs or alcohol trying to straighten out their life i don't know about you tonight there's not a greater gift i could give my wife my children my grandchildren than to give them jesus christ than to give them god then brother sullivan brother jacob sullivan are you in the auditorium tonight brother brother i think it was you bro brother sutherland uh uh help me with the story tonight but i i saw something on on social media you you were you were putting one of your daughters to bed last night and talking about the christmas story and and the daughter said uh the that somebody get a microphone run it back to him somebody get me know you've got some some i cause brother uh sullivan come on up here and tell it because this is what it's all about this is what it this is what it's all about go ahead and uh brother sullivan go ahead and tell what happened last night because this is what it's all about go ahead so we were reading scripture last night and and i'll be honest with you peyton she she brought me the bible she said dad i want to read the bible and uh we i asked myself what do you want to read about and she said let's let's read about jesus and uh excuse me and then we were um we went to matthew talking about the birth of christ and and she got to thinking i seen the wheels turning in her mind and she said dad jesus is god yeah i said you're you're exactly right page yes and then she said so god in heaven came down to the earth as a man yes and his name is jesus yes i said you're exactly right baby that's right that's exactly right and as a father if i could give the heritage of one god yes to my children yes then to me that's the most important thing yes on this side of eternity that's right that's right because nothing else matters that's right brother sullivan you know we can we can teach him education and what good will it do if we send them to harvard and they lose their own soul in the end that's right brother sullivan that's right i'm thankful yes i'm thankful for truth tonight now listen to this brother sullivan there's no more than what she said jesus is god robed in the flesh there's no more than what she said that right there is the beginning of the land of no more there's no more but if you don't teach them that somebody will teach them another doctrine where she'll never be satisfied and they have to keep adding more and more and more thank god thank god now this is what it's all about daddy god came down in the form of a man his name is jesus that's it daddy you you can't think about that man i don't know who he is but think about him jesus could open i mean anything you'd want from him he could have answered dead razor a blind eye opener soul satisfying savior yes make my brother give me back some inheritance that he got from mom and daddy jesus answered him verse 14 and he said unto him man who made me a judge or a divider over you in other words do you think he's coming to a a lawyer today to hear the reading of the will who made me a divider a judge over you and he said unto them take heed pay attention take heed and beware of covetousness for a man's life consists of not in the abundance of the things which he possesses you are not who you are because you have more you are not more happy because you have more it's a proven statistic you are less happy because you have more because you are disappointed but oh here tonight we have gathered together to have a god celebrate over us to have a god hand us a gift and say come to my house come into my house and when you come into my house what you're saying is a few hours in god's house is better than 20 an hour at the factory when you come into god's house you're saying in god's house is better than any other time that could ever be spent at any other place this is more valuable than watching a ball game this is more valuable than getting rest in my lazy boy this is more valuable than any one version says it this way beware guard against every kind of greed life is not measured by how much you own your life is not measured i'm going to tell you if you've got friends because you've got a certain little emblem on your shirt of a man riding a pony with a polo stick if you got friends because you drive a certain car and you got friends because y'all kind of you you make a certain figure a year you don't have friends you don't have friends because jesus is a friend that will stick closer to you than a brother but you lose that money and see how those friends will stay around you you you you don't you don't have friends that's right that's exactly right they'll drop you like a bad habit that's a truth that's a they'll leave you like rats off of a sinking ship i mean they're just they'll they'll just leave you the egyptians were driven by greed they were grip driven by greed but can i tell you there's coming a day that all of your wealth is going to lose its value in your eyes there's coming a day there's coming a day to some that are in the church enough to know about the rapture and don't make the rapture it'll be on that day that the church is missing it'll be on that day that you run down here to the house of god because you can't find mama or daddy or grandpa and it's going to happen you can't find this one or that you get here and hopefully somebody says well man i they should start church right now and well we don't have enough here to start church what's happened the raptures happen and you have people that ask during a bible study they'll ask can i be saved during the tribulation use some common sense if you can't be saved now what makes you think you're going to stand up for god if you don't believe the message now you don't believe it enough to live it you don't believe it right now what makes you think you're going to stand up when you can't even buy a loaf of bread unless you've got a mark on your head and on your on your hand what may you're not going to live for god then you're gonna sell out they're gonna deceive you so you know what right now is the time to see the true value the true value is in the god that's rejoicing over you and the god that has given you the gift you don't have to make more money you need to spend more time with me that's what you need to do you don't need to there's coming a day when your wealth won't mean anything to you it happened in egypt it happened on that passover night when the death angel came through and judgment came to the land of egypt chapter 12 verse number 33 of exodus says and the egyptians were urgent upon the people that they might send them out of the land in haste for they said we be all dead men and the people took their dough before it was leavened and they're needing troughs being bound up in their cloths upon their shoulders and the children of israel did according to the word of moses and they borrowed of the egyptian of the egyptians jewels of silver jewels of gold and raiment and the lord gave the people favoring the sight of the egyptians so that they lent unto them such things as they required and they spoiled the egyptians let me tell you there was a day when egyptian women and men held their silver and their gold and all of their expensive things close to them they wouldn't even give a they would even give an israelite hardly a cup of water but let me tell you when judgment came for the bread they changed how they saw things and they began to strip off what they once valued and they began to give it away let me tell you something if you don't know god the day's coming when you'd give anything to know him the day is coming and now now is the time for salvation don't wait for that i don't want you to wait for that day all right i i know there's been i i've i've heard some folks preach on the rapture and missing the rapture and it's almost like the preacher wanted you to miss the rapture i don't want you to miss the rapture i want you to make it but i do want to fire a shot across the bow tonight and tell you what it would be like if you don't listen to me tonight the world doesn't have what will satisfy you young lady the world doesn't have what will satisfy you young man the world doesn't have what will satisfy you middle-aged people the world doesn't have what will satisfy you elder people tonight only satisfaction comes in the lord jesus christ get your hands up get to praising god get to worship in god if you want to find contentment you will find it over the god that is rejoicing over you god if you're singing to me i'm singing to you tonight god if you're excited about me i'm excited about you tonight god so he gave him a day of rest brother carpenter i got things to do sunday's you just don't understand how busy i am i i got things i've got to do every time we have church and you could be here and you're not i don't care how head how far ahead you got it home you lost i don't care how much overtime you got i don't care how much more the yard you got mowed or how much more the fence you got built if you could have been in the house of god you lost you lost first timothy chapter three verse number six this is a scripture pertaining to the very day that we're living in the very day that we're living in this scripture pertains to it first timothy six and three if any man teach otherwise and consent not to wholesome words even the words of our lord jesus christ and to the doctrine which is according to godliness he is proud knowing nothing but doting about questions and strife of words wherefore cometh envy strife railings and evil surmising perverse disputings of men of corrupt minds destitute of the truth now watch this look at religion today see if you can think of anything you've watched on quote christian television supposing that gain is godliness from such withdrawal thyself this is this health wealth and prosperity doctrine this is this gospel of the bling this is this gospel of the more gold i've got the more more jet planes that i can i can show you and the more the the the more bentleys that i can drive do you know a a a a a ford will get you to the same restaurant a bentley wheel you ever thought about that matter of fact an uber will get you there too so gain isn't godliness you're not godly because you have a lot of things in your life now wait there's nothing wrong with having things as long as things don't have you there's nothing wrong with having things as long as you see see that was the problem with judas it wasn't that the the judas held the bag it was that the bag held judas see i don't you can't judge your godliness by how big your house is what kind of car you got oh that's perception it might look like man that guy's got it made listen he may be maxed out he may not pay the the final payment on that car until 2053. so when you look at that wow look at that it's not his it's the banks he's paying them twelve hundred dollars a month to drive it it is the truth it is the truth so you can't judge how spiritual you are by clothes you wear things you drive but the false religion would like to tell you oh come follow my jesus wear some bling bling like i got health wealth and prosperity don't confess it now if you got the flu don't confess it oh don't it just don't it's health wealth and prosperity if health wealth and prosperity is the sign that you're in the will of god the apostle paul would be considered out of the will of god the majority of his life yeah i can't even get on a ship without it sinking you take listen you be with him in a room and he takes his shirt off his back looks like hamburger meat because they beat him so many times more than likely more than likely he had several facial scars from being stoned it was times he was hungry it was times that he ran with people that he feared for his life so don't ever believe that junk you hear on so-called christian television because they're just trying to deceive poor widows and unlearned people to send them a potion of their tithe send me send me this and i'll send you some oil send me this and i'll send you something i prayed over folks aren't you thankful that because of the word of god you don't fall prey to such shenanigans as that that's right you're right verse number five you're exactly right my brother verse number five perverse disputings of men of corrupt minds destitute of the truth supposing that gain is godliness from such withdrawal thyself get away from them but here's who you need to run with verse six but godliness with contentment is what that's not just a gain is it what kind of gain is it it's game let me tell you something if you can be taught the truth and know the lord and know the truth of god's word know the plan of salvation just rest assured be content thank god i know the truth thank god i've got a church to go to i thank god i've got a place to bring my children to thank god i've got a place to worship and here's the common sense that goes with it verse seven for we brought nothing into this world and it is certain we can carry nothing out having food and raiment here's the standard for what we ought to be content with here's the standard for what you ought to be considered having food and raiment let us there with be content let me ask a show of hands how many is eight today come on how many's ate something today yeah and we all got clothes on right yeah we all got clothes on you know what i just passed the test ought to be content i'll just be happy come on get that old bottom lip up get that old crown off your face that old down cows pour pitiful me get your head up thank god i've ate a meal today thank god i had clean water to drink today thank god i had something to eat today thank god matter of fact we ate several times a day y'all just get off your pew right now and thank god that you're not just didn't eat one time you ate several times today come on just praise him right now come on praise him right now oh don't praise him for what you want praise him for what you already have got good water got good clothes just thank him thank you thank you thank you thank you amen amen amen to all of you who thought i was going to dismiss i disappoint you sit back down for a minute having food and raiment let us there with be content but they that will be rich fall into temptation and a snare and into many foolish and hurtful lust which drown men in destruction and perdition for the love of money for the love of money is the root of all evil which while some coveted after they have erred from the faith and have pierced themselves through with many sorrows you know what the imagery there is it was a a trap that you would set for your enemy you would take a piece of board and put several sharp spears through it 12 or 15 several sharp spears through that board and when you walk down the trail and you tripped it tricked a a spring and that that one board just came through and pierced you many times more money is not what you need more jesus is what you need now stay with me for just a moment i'm going to go very fast genesis 1 22 god bless the fish and the fowl genesis 1 22 god bless the fish and the fowl and he told them to multiply he created something and he said you have what it's in it in you to multiply genesis 1 28 he created man and woman and told them and blessed them there's the blessing and he told them to multiply so he created fish and fowl and he blessed them with the ability to multiply he created male and female and he blessed them with the ability to be able to multiply the genesis two and three and god bless the seventh day anything god blesses has the possibility to multiply he made fish and foul he blessed them they were able to multiply he made male and female and he blessed them and they are able to multiply he blessed the seventh day but how do you multiply days if he blessed the seventh day he gave the day the ability to multiply do you know that i read one stat that's that that's a proven uh scientific uh uh study that they did on people that keep the sabbath day people that actually have a day that they worship god and the stat said on average they live 10 years longer than non-sabbath day keepers sounds like to me that god's adding days to our years well i can't explain it but psalms 84 and 10 tried to psalms 84 and 10 tried to explain the multiplication of days david cried out and said for a day in thy courts is better than a
