four verse number one excuse me and it came to pass when david and his men were come to zig lag on the third day that the amalekites had invaded the south and zig leg and smitten zig leg and burned it with fire and had taken the women captives that were therein and slew not any either great or small but carried them away and went on their way so david and his men came to the city and behold it was burned with fire their wives and their sons and their daughters were taken captives then david and the people that were with him lifted up their voice and wept until they had no more power to weep verse number eight and david inquired at the lord saying shall i pursue after this truth shall i overtake them and he answered him pursue for thou shalt surely overtake them and without fail recover all verse 18 and david recovered oh that the amalekites had carried away and david rescued his two wives and there was nothing lacking to them neither small nor great neither sons nor daughters neither spoiled nor anything that they had taken to them david recovered all in jesus name you may be seated today i want to take a moment and tell you who i am targeting this message after today i am targeting this message today to those on the telecast and to those in this sanctuary that have found yourself at rock bottom i am aiming this today to those that have lost all i am aiming this today to those who have had many many sleepless nights recently i am aiming this to those today that cannot possibly conceive in your mind how things are going to turn around i am aiming this at you today because i want you to know that the same promise that god gave david that he would recover all is the same promise that i believe god is giving our tv audience and those in this sanctuary today that have been attacked by the amalekites of the 21st century you see as we study this breed of people called the amalekites we find them scattered out throughout the old testament history we find that they were not brave warriors they were a band of people that were cowardly they would attack the feeble in the camp they would never draw out and attack you face-to-face but they would always look for those that were straggling behind they would look for those that were sick they would look for a hospital to raid they would look for homes left without husbands to invade they were the cowards of canaan land we first hear of them when the children of israel engaged them when coming out of egypt we find that that they they engage with the people of god and we find that it seemed as if they would prevail against god's people but somebody noticed something that there was a man by the name of moses and moses had a rod in his hand that had been touched by god and as long as moses was on top of that hill overlooking the battle and as long as moses held up that rod that the children of israel through god's power would begin to prevail against the amalekites but we find that when moses his hand would begin to get weary and he would let that raw down we would find that the amalekites would begin to true prevail against the israelites and finally somebody came up with a brilliant idea they went up on the top of that hill and they took them a rock and they took that rock and they brought moses and they sent moses down on that rock and then there were two men that went up there one he was his brother moses his brother aaron and aaron went up there and aaron was the mouthpiece of god aaron was the vocal cords for moses because moses said he couldn't speak well and god said well your brother can speak well and so many times god would speak to moses and moses would tell aaron and aaron would tell the people and so aaron becomes known as the priest or the preacher should i say or the hereward of god's word but there was another man that was there that day his name was her age you are her all we really know about her is he's from the tribe of judah he's from a tribe of praisers and so they discovered church that when aaron got under one arm and aaron would lift up one arm of moses and what her would got under the other arm and her would lift up the other arm of moses with the rod in the hand that the bible says that the children of israel were able to completely win the victory that day because aaron was on one side holding up his hand and her was on the other side holding up his hand and moses was seated on a rock and that day god gave total victory at that time over the amalekites and then at the end of that day god told moses to write this in a book and to rehearse this day often have a rehearsal show generations to come how you can overcome the amalekites that attack you show them because i got news for you this is not the last time the amalekites are going to come around and when they kid when they stick their head back up again you need to know that you got to have a rock and that rock is cross jesus and you got to have a moses and that moses is the word of god and you got to have a rod that can split red seas and that rod is miracle signs and wonders and you got to have an aaron and that aaron is the preacher of the word of god and you've got to have her and that her is appraiser that her is a hand clapper that her is a foot stopper that hand is a hand that that her is a hand raiser that her is a hallelu that is a praise the lord that her is the lord giveth and the lord taketh away but blessed be the name of the lord and he said you should call the lord's name jehovah nissi and this means jehovah my banner my banner is what identified an army and our banner is jehovah nissi the lord is our banner and we got the rock christ we got the word moses we got miracle signs and wonders in the rod we got a preacher that's preaching and we got somebody praising god over it and when we got all of this put together there's not a devil in hell that can stand against us there's not a situation on the economy that can come against us when we got the rock and we got the word and we got the preacher and we got miracles signs and wonders and then we have somebody that's not bored with christ we have somebody that's not gotten over jesus we have somebody that still has got something inside of their heart till you know praise him over i'm telling you we can defeat the amalekites david david encountered them oh yes he did david encountered him and when david he countered him he found that his home and his wife his wives his children think about the devastation i want you to know the promises of god are for you today and the promises of god are for me today i want you to know today but the things that happened to david you slide them up but the things that happened to you david came home to a home he came home and his house was burned to the ground all his wealth was gone but not only that his wives were going his children were gone all of his possessions were going not only that the enemy the amalekites had not just hit one family in the church he emilich oxen hit all the families in the church and all the men they didn't know see we know that we know the story they didn't know the story there they didn't know if their wives have been murdered right through what they didn't know if their boys and daughters sons and daughters had been slaughtered they didn't know what slave camp their boys and sons and daughters were in the bible said they begin to weep naturally the bible said they begin to weep until they had no more power to weep they cried until there was no more tears coming out they couldn't sleep well we really don't know how many days this went on could possibly be went on for weeks they slap on the charred burnt ground they cried after their wives but then if we don't watch it our devastation can cause us to become discouraged and all of a sudden people begin to murmur that it was david's fault a lot of times when we are attacked of him amalekites the amalekites love to deter us by getting our mind on it's somebody else's fault so it is with our adversary satan today things come our way and he wants us to fight each other so the bible said that the men there begin to speak and we begin to murmur and they begin to talk about stoning david because it was david that kept us out in the battle it was david that did these things and so they spoke of stoning david but david did the wisest thing anybody can do in the midst of trouble david did the wisest thing anyone can do when they're bankrupt david did the wisest thing that anybody can do when the children are gone and the wife is gone the bible says that david called for a priest david called for a bath or the priest and david called for the ephod and at that time the ephod was a piece of garment that had some stones in it that they would inquire of god a yes or no question from god and david asks for the ephod the bible says and i want you to hear this today david encouraged himself in the lord he is god you know i i have found some great encouragement remembering and rehearsing some miracles that god has done in my life i have found in the midst of deep darkness and wondering if god is a million miles from me wonder where god is that i have found if i'll simply go back and begin to rehearse in my mind some things that i know that i know that i know that god's done for me i know it was god you see my friend i have a miracle that happened in my life before i ever gave my heart to god i've used this miracle many times in deep depression to think if god would do something for me then and i didn't even know him how much more would he work for me now that i do know him before i came to god i had all my life i can remember as a small child harry having ear aches i can remember one of the one of the things that we would do that bring a little comfort was to take a towel take a take a take a bath towel and fold it up and put it in the oven for just a little bit and get it warm and i could find some sleep by laying my ear on that warm towel and in the mornings it was nothing unusual to wake up to just gobs of infection that had leaked out of my ear and this was something like a childhood thing that went on and went on i was 15 years old my mother took me to a doctor the doctor x-rayed one of my betty here and he said that eardrum is severely burst and damaged it has burst many times and said we'll have to do a skin graft and we'll have to take skin and graft around that eardrum and try to repair that eardrum and and it will never it will never give what it can but it will be better than him suffering from these ear aches well at that time i didn't know the lord but my momma did and when the doctor said that on the way on the way home my mama took me by the first apostolic church in knoxville 50:20 pleasant ridge road and my mama went in the office there and the brother mccool brother billy mccool was there i'll never forget is a fifteen year old boy my momma tell him brother billy mccool what was wrong with me and brother billy mccool went and got a bottle of oil big tall bottle of oil that said on the on the pulpit there at the church and he anointed my head with oil he prayed prayed over my sister lois i don't know the lord at this time i've not been baptized i give him my life i've got the holy ghost i'm just a 15 year old sinner boy standing there he anointed my head and he prayed over me and a few weeks later i was told to we were told to go back to the doctor after taking some medication that should clear up the infection so that he could do schedule the operation and never forget that day when i walked in and that doctor brought that big machine down around my head and he put it in that ear that it had that bursted eardrum and he began to examine look and turn twist dials and and then he he looked at his chart and made sure he was doing the right ear and he said well we might have wrote it down i remember him saying we might have wrote this down wrong and he took the machine out of that ear and brought it around to the other ear and he said no it's not this year and he put it back around and he looked at my mom and he said i really can't explain this he said but this ear is perfect it looks like a brand-new eardrum it is a perfect eardrum he said i can't explain it and he tried to ride it off to medicine but about that time my mama had a pentecostal praise and fit and she began to say doctor i know how it was done we took him to the house of the lord and we had prayer i won't tell you something in my deepest darkest depression when things have not going my way i just go back and remember god if you did that for me and i didn't even know your name how much more will you do that for me today you may be seated this morning david said god i won't talk to you for a minute should i pursue after them and then david was a pretty smart man he said god i don't want to get in anything that i'm not going in said some will ask you to i'm going to ask you a question with two parts to it should i pursue and will i recover and god spoke back and said pursue and you shall recover oh can i tell somebody today who is sitting you know what you may be sitting in bankruptcy right now you may be of course i talked about not having money as being broke you may be so broke today that you don't have two pennies to rub together or you may be a multi-millionaire in this building or watching by way of the television but yet the same broken heart that the bankrupt bankruptcy man may have you may have a bankruptcy heart you may be driving the finest and living in the finest but your heart is bankrupt and you don't have the joy of the lord you don't have the peace that passeth all understanding you don't have that rock christ jesus that helps you friend it's not wealth that causes you to be happy it's not wealth it causes you to be chopped off it's jesus that causes you to be happy it's jesus it causes you to be joyful it's not living in a gated community it's not having a job that pays $50 an hour it's heaven the lamb of god the alpha the omega the beginning and the end the see walk of the blind eye opener is heaven jesus on the inside stand with me today you see you may be here today and david's wives were going because the amalekites are taking them and your wife or your husband may be going today because they've walked out your family may be in disarray today somebody hearing me somebody listening to me today your health may be gone your wealth may be gone or your health may be perfect but you're still empty your sin sick on the inside god should i pursue the drive to stay right here hang on in the midst of my trouble to you come he said no he said you pursue after the enemy you get after the amalekites you get after them you go after what the enemy's done you go after the amalekites well god am i going to recover he said you're going to recover everything you lost you're going to recover everything you love but if you'll read a little bit more they not only got back all but then the bible said they got back an extra portion and david they said that's called david's spoil right there i got back my family i got back my children i got back all of the things that were taken from me i got back my gold coin collection i got back all this it was taken from me but now look laying over here here's some more things at the amalekites head i'm going to take back what the amalekites had taken from other people i'm gonna take it back but can i tell you something today you'll never pursued and i'm not trying to rhyme today but you'll never pursue by staying in your pew you'll never pursue by standing around the charred remains and looking at what the enemies done in your life you'll never pursue by talking about it when you get up talking about it ever hour on the hour you'll never pursue dreaming about it you'll never pursue i gotta get that all run back out cross jesus i gotta get the rock christ jesus out jesus jesus jesus somebody helped me today i'm talking on jesus i'm calling on jesus this morning
