book of deuteronomy chapter eight begin reading it verse number one deuteronomy chapter eight and verse number one pick up a yard sign on your way out put it in your yard and let everybody know that our church wants to be your church all right let everybody know and uh it's time that we open back up it's time i i was so pleased to see the governor of the state of tennessee downtown nashville inviting people to come out and to get out and to enjoy downtown nashville now if our governor can ask people to get out and enjoy downtown nashville pastor carpenter is telling everybody to get out come to church and enjoy new jerusalem enjoy the house of the living god probably one of the safest buildings to be in in maryville kroger doesn't have a mass section but we do a lot of places don't take your temperature when you come in but we do we're trying to be a safe but it's time let's invite folks to come to church let's invite people to come to church let's tell them that our church can become your church amen i want before i read my first text tonight i do want to welcome a group of students from ibc that that is here and we welcome them and we're so glad to have them at first apostolic church y'all wave your hand back there so we know who you are we're so so so so glad and uh we've got several of our young people gigi being one of them and uh was so good to have her home and for her to bring several friends uh to church deuteronomy chapter 8 verse number 1 all the commandments which i command thee this day shall ye observe to do that ye may live and multiply and go in and possess the land which the lord swear unto your fathers i won't stop there but i'm going to continue to read because you've been standing i'm a pastor tonight all right brother erickson last sunday night did a thorough job of edifying the body to me there are three e's that must take place at a church congregation a church congregation must be educated edified and evangelized if a church is not receiving that diet if all the church is doing is being edified it's not going to grow if all the churches being is educated it's not going to grow and if all we do is evangelize it's not going to grow but if we can educate edify and evangelize on a weekly basis if we can do that god will use us god i love you i thank you tonight lord that you have given me a message as the pastor of this church to this church lord you said in your word that if i loved you i would feed your sheep lord they're here tonight precious they're here tonight faithful i asked lord that you would anoint my lips of clay that i would be able to speak your word as the pastor the under shepherd unto the great shepherd that i would speak your word to them tonight in jesus name help me amen you may be seated in chapter eight and verse number one there are three parts to this scripture the first part is is to hear the commandments of god to hear the commandments of god the second part is to do them or obey them and the third part is to go into the land that he gave you three parts and they have to go in this order you've got to hear the commandments you've got to do the commandments and you go into the promised land you don't go into the promised land hearing you don't go into the promised land hearing and then decide to do it you never get to the promised land until you first hear the commandment and then you never get to the promised land until you're obedient to the commandment but if you'll do the two you will enjoy the promised land to where he said the word live you will live but he not only said the word live he said the word multiply let's continue to read as moses is talking to the people in verse 2 and thou shalt remember all the way which the lord thy god led thee these 40 years in the wilderness sometimes we can be encouraged in the present moment by looking back over the past 40 years of how god has been faithful to us he said remember all the way which the lord led thee these 40 years in the wilderness to humble thee and sometimes that's good for us to be humbled sometimes we can get to thinking too highly of ourselves and uh or years ago right before mama gave me a whoopin we didn't get weapons we got weapons all right something would come down from her mouth that went something like this you just a little bit too big for your britches boy i knew i was about to get it sometimes we have to be humbled by god because we get a little bit too big for our britches we start thinking that we got life by the tail and we've got it all in control only for god to come down and humble us then we want the song to be sung by brother erickson i can't even walk without you hold in my hand right he said i came down and i humbled thee to prove thee to know what was in thine heart whether thou would us keep his commandments or no he humbled thee and suffered thee to hunger god even let them go hungry god even let them god even let them go hungry and the only reason god let them go hungry it's because he wanted to feed them with manna of which they knew not neither did their fathers know that he might make them know that man doth not live by bread alone but by every word that proceedeth out of the mouth of the lord death man lived he said your raiment wax not old your clothes did not get old neither did your foot swell some have said that their shoes lasted the whole wilderness journey these 40 years thou shalt also consider in thine heart that as a man chasteneth his son so the lord thy god hath chastened thee in other words there has been times that god has taken us all to the woodshed god has taken us all and given us chastisement it might have went in the form of not being able to sleep anybody ever had a sleepless night because god had you up it might have been just being discontent you didn't know what was wrong with you checkbook was full everything looks good but you just simply had no rest in your soul and that was because god was chastising you but was soon to understand the value of chastisement he only chastises us because he loves us he loves us too much church to let us go on our merry way and have horrendous flaws in our life he loves us enough to chastise us he loves us enough to chastise us verse 6 therefore thou shalt keep the commandment of the lord thy god to walk in his ways and to fear him for the lord thy god bringeth thee into a good land you hear that now the good land starts because you can't get we can't get to the good land until we first hear god's word can't get to the good land until we're first obedient it is a land of brooks look at this now it is a land of brooks of water of fountains and depths that spring out of the valleys and the hills just look at the natural beauty just look at what is naturally there just just naturally just walk into it there's brooks and valleys and mountains and streams opportunity opportunity a land of wheat and barley and vines and fig trees and pomegranates a land of olive oil oil olive and honey now wait a minute now the first thing is the natural part of the land the second thing is what i do to the land you see the first thing i didn't do anything for that brook that was there i didn't do anything for that mountain that was there for that valley that was there for that spring of water that was there i didn't do anything for all that that was just naturally there but what do we do with what god has naturally give us that's where you get your wheat your barley your vines your fig trees your pomegranates your land of oil olive and honey a land wherein thou shalt eat bread without scarceness thou shalt not lack anything in it a land whose stones are iron and out of whose heels thou mayest dig brass he said wait amen this is a fertile land i have given you because you have heard my word and you have obeyed my word i have given you a fertile land and you worked with it and you grew wheat and barley you grew all kind of crops but not only this if you'll dig in the land the land have stones that are made of iron hills that you can dig brass in other words if you would go to mining if you'd go to digging you'd find that the rocks in that land are rich in minerals when thou has eaten and are full then shalt thou bless the lord thy god for the good land which he hath given thee now now i'm more pastor all right now my pastor a lot of people talk about claiming the promises of god i'm claiming the promises of god i've been in more services and i have chanted more things than you could ever believe i have joined in the claiming the ch the chanting i have claimed all different things but can i tell you tonight you must always remember when you're claiming your promise am i qualified for the promise you can chant it all day long you can quote it all day and i know it's just going to get quiet tonight it's not going to be a brother erickson message i promise you it would really shock me if it turned out that way i have chanted more i have claimed more i've laid my hands on pews floors walls chandeliers i have turned to the north and told the north to shut up i've turned to the south and turned the south to open up but do you do you know that you can claim all the promises you want to but we better step back tonight church and see if we qualify for the promise because it's going to take more than just chanting the promise to get in the promised land i'm going to have to obey the promise because i'm only going into the promised land if i'm qualified to go in i'm claiming the promise of god but you better remember you better qualify your life for the benefits of the promise you can quote the promise but until you qualify for the promise you'll never reap the benefits of the promise you'll be able to quote it you see let me let me show you a few things that are commonly believed but they're not true long prayers doesn't automatically guaranteed answered prayers there's a lot of people that have been discouraged in a short prayer our bible is full of short prayers but somehow we get we get in our mind unless we pray like someone and say they're always down i know we got some folks here from texas but these people are always down in texas that can pray 28 hours a day sister so and so prayed until her knees were flat i mean this brother prayed until you know he did that that's all well and good but i refuse to believe that long prayers automatically are an answer to prayer what is an answer to prayer is faithful prayers matthew chapter 6 verse number 7 reads like this but when you pray use not vain repetitions as the heathens do for they think that they shall be heard for their much speaking oh by the way i'm quoting jesus he said hey when you get ready to pray don't get caught up that you got to pray a long time like those other folks over here because they get in vain repetition and they think they're going to be heard for their much speaking can i tell you what god hears is a heartfelt prayer can i tell you what god hears is a faithful prayer it may be a prayer as short is help me god but i believe if he if he if that comes from your heart all of heaven stands to attention it might be a prayer god i can't make it any longer can you help me god i may not have the strength to beat the floor i may not have the strength to pray for two hours and a half i just may have enough strength to say help me lord i do know i do know that a criminal on his way to hell changed his direction by a simple prayer that said this lord remember me when you come in to the kingdom i do know that god has answered some prayers that were just a sentence lord if you're willing you can heal me i will he said now let's go on i want to tell you tonight that loud prayers and prophesying doesn't always denote spirituality as a pastor there's a lot of prophesying going on a lot of god told me to tell you this and god told me to tell you that you better be careful number one if you prophesy and you better be careful what you're prophesying you better know that your motive for prophecy is not that you're they're going to walk or you're going to walk away and they're going to think you're some great spiritual poopah some great spiritual dude in the house or a dudette i told you it's going to pastor tonight long prayers and prophesying doesn't always denote spirituality if i believed every prophecy somebody whispered in my ear i would have left maryville about 25 years ago because i had someone call me and prophesy that i was to leave and go on the evangelistic field if i to listen to that prophecy i wonder where i'd be at tonight everything that whispers in your ear and says thus saith the lord you better you better have you a pastor you better have you a man of god that you can go to and say so and so whispered in my ear so and so so and so did this and so and so did that what do you think let's just wait and see first kings chapter 18 verse 26 the bible says it they called him he called the false prophets out said we'll serve your god we'll serve baal said the god that answers by fire let him be god verse 26 brother hammond and they took the bullet these bellites took the bullet which was given them they dressed it and called on the name of baal from morning until noon that sounds like a long prayer meeting to me morning to noon saying oh baal hear us but there was no voice nor any of that answered and they leaped upon the altar which was made came to pass at noon that elijah mocked them and said cry aloud for he is for he is a god either he is talking or he is pursuing or he is in a journey or per adventure he sleepeth and must be a way he got out there taunting him just a little bit he must have been a brave prophet because he was outnumbered one to 400 to 1. he said get out there and said cry a little louder maybe you're god's asleep check him out maybe he's on vacation man they turned it on in verse 29 and it came to pass after when midday was passed he got past noon and when they prophesied man they started prophesying oh the fire is going to fall the saith baal oh the fire is going to fall hey the fire is going to fall hey the fire is going to fall the fire is going to fall thus saith baal the fire is going to fall thus saith bell the bible said they began to prophesy until the time of the evening sacrifice there was neither voice nor any to answer nor any that did regard can i tell you long prayers doesn't necessarily mean you're going to get an answer our jo our our focus as as children of god tonight should be let me hear the word of the lord let me hear the word of the lord i am less than a pastor tonight to let you get caught up in looking for a word of the lord you don't have to look for a word of the lord every time you come to the house of god we're going to open the bible and we're going to preach the word of the lord stop going all over the country i'm looking for a word it's here right now the word of god is here right now god will speak to you through his word they prophesied they prophesied but there was neither voice nor any answer nor any of that regarded i want to attack the doctrine of name it claim it believe it receive it i want to attack the doctrine of health wealth and prosperity gospel not everybody is going to get healed in this church that's sick some are going to die oh they must not have been spiritual hush it's not our grand goal to go be with the lord and the last time i read my bible my word from the lord says to be absent from the body is to be present with the lord not everybody's going to get healed that doesn't mean the church is not spiritual that doesn't mean they're not spiritual that just simply means god in his great will decided to take them home name it claim it i kind of added to that name it claim it blab it and grab it quote it well i got news for you i got news for you better qualify yourself for the land of milk and honey not just any old joker's going into the land of milk and honey you're not going into the good land and once you get into the land of good milk and honey you got to do something with it that's right then pomegranate trees didn't grow on their own that wheat field didn't grow on its own that barley didn't grow on its own they didn't go set on their do-nothings by the brook and god just rolled up the wheat for him beat it all together and made him a loaf of bread and had gabriel come down and stick it in their mouth they had to work with what god's given them and then when they wanted building material they had to dig for it they had to work for it if you want the gold out of the heels you got to roll up your sleeves for it if you want the metal out of the ground you got to work for it if you want to eat the bread in the land you got to work for it church if we want the promises of god to be fulfilled in our lives we can't come like the like sonic drive in pull our little bodies up in a pew look at a big menu there and say hey bring me a double portion tonight a blessing give me a double yeah and add a little bit of feel good on the side and i want a little bit of ranch revival with that and would you bring me would you bring me a little financial uh a prosperity on my way out here oh yeah and bring me aside of the gifts of the spirit when you come please and then we roll up the window and wait for them to come it doesn't work like that if we're gonna get into the promised land we got to hear the word of god we got to obey the word of god and once we get in the promised land somebody give me a shovel somebody give me a sickle somebody give me a home bible study somebody but we're living we're living in a day of the damage of the prosperity gospel paul addressed it in first timothy 6 and 5. he said they are perverse disputings of men of corrupt mind destitute of the truth supposing that gain is godliness from such turn away the more expensive 10 10 000 watches they can wear the more they held themselves as spiritual the most stuff they can boast out that god with some of them that are on the internet and television have some of the most gaudy i don't believe that stuff's gold i believe they got a good deal at the hobby lobby i believe that's all about all i believe that's about all that is i believe they've odd on hobby lobby and they got all kind of gaudy background and they're telling you that you can be like them that they're in god's will you can you can be like them can i tell you financial prosperity has never been god's standard for godliness don't you ever gauge how spiritual you are by how much money you've got you may be a minimum wage worker in this church and be the most spiritual person that's here tonight don't look at that man hey that brother so it's over there he makes a hundred and fifty dollars an hour he must be spiritual you don't know his heart he could be as carnal as carnal could be he could be on his road to a devil's hell don't ever judge your spirituality by the money you make or the money you die i told you i was just going to pastor you tonight i didn't i don't want you to fall prey to this stuff for we brought nothing into this world and it is certain we can carry nothing out having food in raiment let us there with be content heaven food and raiment let us it didn't say foods it said food meal raiment what you got on be content i'll tell you what if one meal and one pair of suit one suit one one one pair of clothes should make us content we ought to go open up that big old drive-in closet we got and look at them 800 pair of shoes we got and then don't you hate this go to the refrigerator i'm so hungry i go that refrigerator open it up and oh god what i want to eat feet get cold cause i hold the door open too long what am i gonna oh why do i why don't why do i want leftovers from this steakhouse do i want leftovers from this fish house what do i want lord have mercy and walk away not feeling content we ought to be the most content people in all the world don't listen to that name and claim it that blab it and grab it that believe it and receive it don't don't listen to that verse nine but they that will be rich but they that will be rich they that set out to be rich fall into temptation and a snare in and into many foolish lust foolish and harmful harmful lust which drown men in destruction and perdition for the love of money is the root of all evil which while some coveted after they have erred from the faith and pierced themselves through with many many sorrows can i tell you i have heard the testimony of more people that have made money but lost their salvation i have had the testimony of happy people that when they were in the church making minimum wage and just making enough to pay the rent and get by their marriage was happy their children were happy and they were happy but they sold out to the financial god they took jobs they wanted to be rich they kept accumulating and accumulating until they didn't have time for church and when they did have church they got too high and falutin to worship god and their marriage fell apart and their children got hooked on drugs then what's that money gonna do when that girl's got a crack cocaine addiction what's that money gonna do when that boy has done perverted his mind on an internet i'm telling you tonight just love god just thank god for what he's gave you just what do you think you ought to do tonight obey the commandment is what you ought to do tonight obey the commandment tonight and get in the land and work the land famous quotes famous quotes of the health wealth and prosperity gospel preachers they're famous to quote this verse right here philippians 4 19 they quote it but my god shall supply all your need but now if they if they could get away with it they would say and my god shall supply all your wants he didn't say that god would supply all my wants he said that god would supply all of my need that's not even plural not needs need my god shall supply all of my need according to his riches in glory don't you hear that quoted well they don't qualify for that you just can't chant that i've chanted that more i've laid my hands this way that way spoke to north south east west beat floors and everything else my god shall supply all my need all your need according to the rich said said to your neighbor turn said to your neighbor she turns out the other neighbor turn to the lord and say it turn it turn this way hold your billfold up and say it chant it all you want to but you've got to qualify for verse 19. you don't get a god that supplies all your needs in verse 19 until you qualify yourself by verse 18. oh i don't read verse 18 oh 18 comes before 19 where i went to school but i have all but i have all and abound i am full having received of epheroditis the things which were sent from you an odor of a sweet smell a sacrifice acceptable and well pleasing unto god put the brakes on this you got to qualify for verse 19. you don't just get out there stingy you don't just get out there and god's going to supply all my need according to his riches until you see a need and you meet somebody else's need they had saw paul's need and they got a big offering up and they said ethereditis go find paul wherever he's at like he needs to he needs some offerings up he needs to be able to preach the gospel here here go go take this to paul aparoditis and when aphrodites got down to paul and begin to unload the offering paul said but my god you tell him to tell him tell him this my god shall supply all your needs according to his riches in glory but you don't get verse 19 until you've done verse 18. i told you i'm just gonna pastor you tonight i'm just gonna be a pastor to you tonight you you don't get in the promised land until you get an ear for the word of god you don't get in the promised land until you start obeying what you know oh let me let me quote you another one matthew 28 20 and lo i'm with you alway even to the end of the world amen people's lives going through things well the bible says he'd be with me always he'd be with me always ain't had nothing to do with spreading the gospel ain't had nothing to do with helping the gospel be spread ain't had nothing to do with church uh i'm over here all by my i'm over here all by my selfish self but i know one thing he said i'll never leave you i'll always be with you once again i've got to introduce you to the doctrine of qualifying yourself because that promise there i am with you although i am with you always even to the end of the world is not just for everybody no you got to go back to verse number 18. jesus came unto them and spake unto them saying all power is given unto me in heaven and earth go ye therefore and teach all nations baptizing them in the name of the father and of the son and of the holy ghost teaching them to observe all things that i whatsoever i have commanded you and lo i am with you all way even unto the end of the world if you are not helping the gospel being spread don't you claim the promise that he's always with you as a matter of fact if you want to get him with you get to helping somebody spread the gospel if you really want to get a hold of that verse of scripture and say that's my verse of scripture take brother nami on as a missionary and begin to financially support him or hey better than that why don't you take a couple of weeks off and tell him when you get to go back to the philippines i will take a couple of weeks off i will pay my own airfare i'll pay my own food i'd just like to go to the philippines and i'd just like to help you a little bit then start claiming i'm with you alway even to the end those of you tonight don't need to quote that verse of scripture i'm with you always if you ain't helping the gospel being spread you don't have a right to that scripture what you need to pray is god be merciful unto me you got a right to that one oh i hear this one so much god is going to open the windows of heaven god is going to open the windows of heaven and pour you out a blessing that there shall not be room enough to receive it i will rebuke the devourer for your sakes and he shall not destroy the fruits of your ground neither shall your vine cast her fruit before the time in the field saith the lord of hosts all nations shall call you a sh and you shall be a delightsome land uh shall call you blessed and you shall be a delight some land a blessed nation and delight some land and saith the lord of hosts amen you got to qualify for that the windows don't open for just any person matter of fact they couldn't go in the promised land until they qualified the windows don't open just because you say open sesame. the windows don't open just because you chant it you can chant blessings bonuses increases job this and job that and all you you chant that you can chant that to your channel breaks but you've got to qualify yourself for this will a man rob god that's that's that's the verses before that will a man rob god you think about that will a man rob god what does that mean rob rob means to take something by force to take something from god by force what am i robbing god of god wants to bless us but if we don't qualify our lives we rob god of the future that he's designed for us oh if you all could just see the future god has for you it's unbelievable you would never again doubt whether you should stay in the church when you stay 18 you would never have one foolish thought that when i get 18 i'm out of this restricted place if you can just see what god has got for you don't rob god of that listen you're not really robbing god you're robbing yourself will a man rob god yet you have robbed me but you say wherein have we robbed thee in tithes and offerings you are cursed with a curse for you have robbed me even this whole nation bring ye all the tithes into the storehouse that there may be meat in my house and prove me now herewith saith the lord of hosts if i will not open you the windows of heaven and pour you out a blessing that there shall not yard sign tonight don't you listen there shouldn't be another yard sign in that lobby tonight we ought to get a yard sign and we ought to put them in every yard tonight lo i'm with you always we trying to get people into the house of god you want god with you when you're about to have a car wreck you want god with you when somebody's about to rob you you want god with you when you don't know which way is up i submit to you tonight qualify your life for it and get involved in the gospel come on lift your hands up right now come on lift your hands up right now come on lift your hands up i'm heading to a land of milk and honey you ever heard that you see our problem is we go down to kroger shut the gloss and we go down to kroger and we buy that honey in a nice little container a little pooh bear container asked brother erickson about that we get that honey out of the little we go to kroger it's nice and air conditioned and food line i think i better i better spread the love here tonight on the grocery stores food city and we go down into air conditioning and we we go get us a little honey that's not how they got honey to get honey you gotta go around honeybees if you're gonna get around honey you're gonna get stung every now and then but the honey's worth the stinging hey some folks can never live in the land of promise because they get stung every now and then somebody didn't shake my hand somebody got my pew somebody got my parking spot somebody didn't talk to me she broke up with my son he broke up with my daughter i i i i didn't get my i i made my best chili for the for the uh small group and nobody just just went on and on about my chili nobody nobody went on and on and you know after all i i had somebody to pass away 10 years ago and you know they mentioned i just now found out about it in the wheel and they mentioned a thing about it can i tell you something get in the church and you're going to get stung i cannot tell you i cannot promise you that you're not going to get stung in this church eventually somebody's gonna sting you but can i tell you the honey that you're gonna get is worth the stinging oh you're not gonna get me out of this church my little grandbabies receiving the holy ghost that's honey to my soul that's that's honey to my soul you better listen one of the most valuable things we got is our little children that want to live for god and serve god and magnify god did you see the choir full of them tonight that's the honey but if you're gonna have some honey you gotta put up with the bees how am i going to the land where milk and honey flow oh is that right you can go down to kroger and open up a nice cold glass container reach in there and get you some good old mayfield yeah that's not how they got it they had to go sit down close to the rear end of a cow come on let's be real i've got sister ammons i got one good quality i'm a realist you you folks from ibc i got one good quality i call it like it is so something i i'm just a realist i just tell it i tell it i don't try to stretch it i don't try to embellish it if you gonna get some honey an angel's not gonna flutter down while you're in your prayer time and come and dip a little bit on your tongue if you're gonna get some honey in the promised land you gotta go down and you can get stung every now and then come on now sound like an utter failure sit down there all right somebody asked me some answer said what do you call a cow that won't give milk said utter failure oh i tell you what i wish i was as spiritual as you and oh hobo the carpenter brother carpenter's here you know how i got my milk you know how we're gonna get our anointing if you can only pray when somebody's watching you you're never going to have your milk and honey if you can only pray when somebody's looking at you you're never going to get your milk and honey but give me somebody that finds them a dark closet and gets down in the ugliness god you know what i battle god you know the spirits that are inside me god you know what i've been thinking god you know all this is going on come on just get off your high horse long enough to realize there's some cheats in the house there's some liars in the house there's some people battling with some things in the house you're not gonna get your milk and honey by dressing up like your goodie two shoes you're gonna get your milk and honey oh it's ugly it's ugly it's painful i gotta pray when i don't feel nothing i gotta pray when nobody's looking matter of fact i want to pray when nobody's here because i want to tell god some of the things that's going on in my life it gets ugly come on we should i wish somebody just opened up tonight how are you i'm not done i'm not done just stand stand i'm going to tell you just to remain standing i'm going to tell you if we don't drive this spirit out of our churches we are developing anemic christians because here this is how it has to go for you to hear from the lord we got to get some guy here from texas he's going to come by i have a word for you sir well step out here isle i don't want your wife to hear it i see something about you you're going through something i see something all around you i see black clouds looks like you're lost in a storm step back in your name is penny you had you had two sausage links isn't that let me tell you something god has used me to talk to people but it becomes the exception and not the rule i'm just i'm just going to tell you something i believe in the gifts of the operation but i have seen one thing that concerns me when we get more concerned with having tongues and interpretation then we do the pastor preaching and it's not hit here but it would that pastors go for weeks and never get in the pulpit i love to shout but we need the word i love for somebody operating the gifts of the spirit i love tongues and interpretation but you can't get somebody getting up there and said open up your bible to deuteronomy chapter 8 and verse number 1 and hear the word of the lord because man does not live by bread alone but by every word that comes out of the mouth of god jesus defeated satan by simply saying it is written and we will defeat him by knowing what is written i may get stung by a bee i may have to get down in the unpleasant posture and milk the cow but i'm gonna get my milk but can i tell you in closing tonight you don't get your promised land till you surrender you don't get to window shop your promised land your promised land is not like your suit dress store you don't get to go in and shop around the only way you go in the promised land is you've got to be surrendered surrendering sounds something like this follow me and i'll make you to be fishers of men unconditional hear anybody's ever heard brother j osborn preach he's just phenomenal but he told me here a while back he said i bought a book entitled how to disappear and no one would find you and he said there's so many things but carpenter that we can preach out of this book he said if there's someone that wants to disappear with nobody ever to find them then you can take nothing into your future that you can be trapped by you can't take your cell phone you can't take any any tracking devices with you you have to go to a brand new place where nobody knows you and then he says this you will be tempted at times to call those you once knew just for a chat don't do it don't do it you might even be tempted at time to go back to the place that you left don't do it if you want to disappear and nobody finds you you've got to completely cut all of that off a lot of people end up back in sin because they kept something that was trackable several years ago in this church i got contacted by the man's parents and at my memory surgery maybe even a doctor but we had a man come to this church it was a heroin addict he came to this church and he went cold turkey off heroin cold turkey his mom and dad called the church they said he can't do that he said you cannot be on the heroine that he's on and just go cold turkey he said he's got to wing himself we got to do this and we've got to do that he can't do this but he did and he kicked a heroin addict a habit but he had one habit that he seemed not to be able to shake he smoked he smoked now a man that can walk away from heroin ought to be able a pack of cigarettes ought to be a walk in the park for him but the problem was you never walk away from something that you don't see as sin i don't care how bad the preacher sees it you got to see it he never saw that pack as something that he really should oh he tried he tried but he just didn't see it matter of fact he even justified him having this habit and some other folks having some other habits that wasn't good for their health and do you know what the last story i heard that man had went back to that lifestyle he went back because he kept hold of something that was trackable i'm just going to tell you tonight i have no flowery altar calls to give you if you want to go into the promised land tonight you got to make a radical decision right now i'm not going to ask anybody to bow their head and close their eyes to make it easier on you to walk down to the altar because if you don't love god enough to say i don't care who sees me tonight i'm going to walk down that aisle i'm going to get in that altar and i'm going to start talking to god who will be first tonight who'll be first thank you chase thank you thank you rob thank you brother perry thank you thank you thank you parker thank you church come on come on i'm not ashamed of this i'm making a radical decision i'm following after god i'm going to get in my promised land come on gather up around push up around the and tell them unless they somehow take those channels out of your house that you're going to cancel your subscription they'll do it i know that for a fact we have this basic cable one day sister carpenter was going through there man there was some channels come on there that were horrible and she called the cable provider they said oh that's free she said i want it out she said that's free we're giving it your tries we don't want to try it i think she even said it's trash it's trash they say well we can't we can't it's going to be there for so many days she said either take it off my channel or come get all this right now and they somehow figured out a way so yeah i understand you brother carpenter not wanting that in your home for your children i don't want it in my home for me so it's things we need to get rid of if we really want to go into the promised land let's make this a defining moment for our church i feel a spirit of just a defining moment some of you some of you young folks are on the brink you you have callings you have all kind of giftings but you said you know i got this calling three or four years ago but nothing's happening maybe it's not god maybe god looks you see you see the bible says many are called many but few are chosen now why is many called but few chosen between the calling and the choosing is the qualifying he calls a lot but just a few will step out and say pastor said get this junk off my phone pastor said i need to cut people out of my life that keeps want to drag me back into the world you want to go to the promised land or not you want to get into your calling you want to you want your destiny to open up to you you gotta be willing you gotta be willing to qualify your life qualify your life thank you tonight thank you thank
