you have your Bibles and be so kind to stand with me tonight thank you singers and our special guests brother Chris ball he said man you have evermore got some voices on that platform and I'm gonna tell you something they're not only just good pleasant voices to the ear those be anointed voices amen those voices only sing for Jesus I can't go there Acts chapter 2 and verse number 40 those voices only sing for him exclusively you won't find them anywhere else singing about any other thing but Jesus because that's why they've got the voice that's right and with many other words acts 2 and 40 and with many other words did he testify and exhort saying let's all read it out loud together the rest of it save save yourself from the Sun toward generation Jesus I love you I ask you to not Lord to help me to feed the flock Lord you said in your word that one of the ways that I will show you that I love you is to feed your people God helped me to feed them tonight and Lord when this is finished I will give you praise honor and glory for the anointing comes from you and Jesus name we pray amen you may be seated as a pastor often use brother Bradford I often use what I refer to as the three E's the three E's and that is I want to evangelize I want to edify and I want to educate the church I think any church must have a balanced meal I think there's times that that church needs to be edified needs to be edified needs to be told that what they're doing is right and keep doing they need to be edified and build up I believe it's um times that we step to this pulpit and we must evangelize the lost souls that are on our pews and then I believe there's times that we just need to educate the church we need an we need to educate the church now it's a nice message is for the serious child of God the child of God who's serious they they're not playing games they're they're not here socializing they know the Word of God is the road map and the compass and and so tonight the the Word of God is going to come forth in an in an educating manner in an educating way he said that we were to save ourselves from this untoward culture for generation this twisted twisted perverted culture that we find ourselves in in 2020 in Daniel chapter 7 verse number 25 Daniel is describing the Antichrist he is telling prophetically what he sees and he is describing the Antichrist and he says in verse number 25 and he shall speak great words against the Most High now you understand that the Antichrist is probably going to be one of the greatest philosophers of open-minded liberal thinking of all times he's going to speak great words and these great words are going to be against the Most High God and shall wear out the Saints of the Most High now that word we're out there really means oppress means to oppress he's going to speak great words against he's going to convince those that he leads by his speech to turn from God and he also is going to have great oppression upon the saints of the Most High God I would say this the enemy can never wear you out until he wears you down don't let the enemy wear you down be resistant to the enemy city is going to speak great words against the Most High God and he's going to wear out the saints and think I want you to underline that word there and think to change times and laws he's going to think that he can do this now I really like how that's worded there he's going to think now he may do a lot of things but he only does what God allows him to do let's let's take great comfort tonight church in whose hands we are in let's let's really be confident tonight in whose hands that we are in because everything the enemy thinks he wants to do he's not able to carry it through but he thinks he's going to change times and laws is this sounding familiar he he thinks he's going to change times and and and the only way that that means history history he wants to change history why does he want to change history because he wants to write his own history she's sad is some of our well you'll keep them in ACA will always tell them about Christopher Columbus will always tell him about George Washington Thomas Jefferson will tell them about the founding fathers of our country if they're here now I don't know what the public school is going to be allowed to teach I do know that in one of our public schools here in town they teach the five pillars of Islam they teach the five pillars of Islam and when parents complained about it they were simply told well if your child doesn't want to go to class they can go sit in a room by themselves now what's wrong with that seemed like to me that anybody that wants to hear about Islam ought to be allowed to go and sit in whatever room they ought to set him but don't isolate my child well all we want to do is come and just let them be familiar about what's going on why not teach them about the truth oh you can't do that we can't we can't do that they took prayer and God Bible reading out of public schools and then when 9/11 s happened one of the first things they want to say is where was God well thiru was that you you kicked him out you kicked him out so this this end of Christ is going to think to change laws and change time and they shall be given into his hand into a time and times and a dividing of times and without a long lengthy explicit explanation here is simply saying three and a half years three and a half years he'll rule the Antichrist will rule for three and a half years keep a keen ear out on the news when you hear the word counter culture counter culture you'll hear that there is right now we are living in a time right now tonight in a great movement of a counter culture what a counterculture is is a culture whose values and norms of behavior differ substantially from those of mainstream society often in opposition to mainstream cultural is it an amazing tonight how there's been great changes brought about in our country over the last 75 years or so by just a little oh handful of counter cultural people just a little handful I think it's I think it's very sad I think it's very sad that the Redskins the football team change their names you know you know why I'm saddened about that because they won't be satisfied with that they won't be satisfied study out history countercultures come after symbols and after they get through destroying their symbols if they are allowed to destroy the symbols then they come after the substance they come after what the symbols stood for and I'm glad that the church is one thing I don't care how hot hell gets here on this earth and in the United States I'm glad to be in the Church of the Living God because no counterculture can destroy the Church of the Living God don't we have this promise in the word upon this rock I will build somebody shout it out tonight upon this rock I will build my church and the gates of Hell shall not prevail against it you see tonight I want to educate everyone tonight about the church the church according to Matthew 5:14 or 5:13 listen to Jesus he said in Matthew 5:13 ye are the salt of the earth but if the salt had lost its savor wherewith shall it be salted it is henceforth good for nothing but to be cast out and to be trodden under foot he said you are the salt of the earth that salt is a preservative that salt comes in and touches something and preserves it and keeps corruption from setting in and he said that the church is the salt of the earth he went on in verse number 14 and he said ye are the light of the world a city that is set on a hill cannot be hid neither do men light a candle and put it under a bushel but on a candlestick and it giveth light unto all that are in the house let your light so shine before men that they may see your good works and glorify your father which is in heaven ye are the salt of the earth the church is the salt of the earth the earth is not the salt of the church we can never believe that what we need will come from the earth what we need has come from heaven the earth is not the salt of the church but the church is the salt of the world the Bible said that we are the light of the world we are the light of the world the world is of the light of the church the church doesn't need to be enlightened by the world but the world needs to be enlightened by the church that's why before service tonight Chris and Shawnee and their precious newborn baby was in my office an hour before service and I was sharing the Word of God with them and I just loved it as they were seeing the light of God's Word begin to come we talked about the miracle birth of water and spirit aren't you thankful that's what a world needs tonight the world needs to hear about the new birth since the carpet had been meeting with Lynette and she said last week she said honey I think I've seen the light of Revelation come on Lynette last week about water baptism and wasn't a bit surprised when sister carpenter interrupted my Bible study to tell me said she's going to be baptized tonight because if the world ever needed the church it's tonight if the world has ever needed the church it's tonight if the one now several years ago we were privileged to have our mayor come to an anniversary service he let brother Erickson no mother therapy let brother Erickson know at the beginning of service we had a little room prepared for him and he got there early and we had some refreshments and he told brother Eric's and he said would you put me on the floor early in the service he said I've got an appointment in Morristown that I've got to be and I need to be on the floor early and I'm sorry but I can't stay for the host service could you put me on the floor early brother Aronson said with the choir is going to open up instead they're going to sing two songs and say after the two songs we'll we'll give you the pulpit and let you greet us as the mayor of our city well one of the songs the choir saying was he's the god of this city and they had all kind of multimedia of Maryville and in downtown and all around and the mayor was setting brother Chris the mayor was setting we're out of my peripheral vision I could see the mayor and about midway through that anointed choir singing the old mayor reached his back pocket got his handkerchief out took his glasses off started wiping the tears but the Erickson kept his word put the mayor on the floor after the second choir song and the mayor got up he started reading a little something that's a standard he was recognizing greeting everyone on behalf of judges and everybody on the behalf of the council of Maryville and then all of a sudden he just stopped and he said these words he said I wasn't ready for this he said I wasn't ready for this he said matter of fact this morning he said I'm very liberal in my views and he said this morning when I got ready and I told my wife that we attend the Presbyterian Church he said my wife said now you be good down there at that Apple stall at Church said don't you let them hang you down there today and he got up and he said I wasn't ready for this and he started talking about what he felt in his heart and he took his pieces of paper y'all remember some of you were there he took his pieces of paper and he threw him over his back he said I'm gonna stay for the whole service said I'd find out something he he got a fact he got a state trooper escort up to me up to Morristown but he but he stood he sit there for the host service and it impacted him a matter of fact it impacted him so much that a few months later a few months later some liberal group found out that we were still reading the nativity the birth of Christ we were still using the courthouse steps for the reading of the birth of Christ and some liberal culture threatened to lawsuit against the city of Miravalle and came out in the paper mayor something like mayor denies the the Nativity this year and I'm sitting there I sitting at breakfast with my wife and I said honey that don't sound like the mayor that don't that don't do the cross I told you said carpenter we're having to come reading the paper and said that don't sound like the mayor and no sooner that then my cell phone went off and it was the mayor and he said Reverend carpenter he said could you meet me for lunch today and I said absolutely could meet you he said I he said have you read the paper this morning I said actually I'm reading it right now he said I would like to explain something to you and so he took me to lunch and he said Reverend he said this liberal group have come in and he said they're financed by some of the billionaires in our nation and he said we can fight this but it will cost our county millions of dollars and said eventually we will get to the Supreme Court and we'll lose and he said the reason I'm denying it the reason I'm denying it is because of that he said it's a it's a losing it's a losing battle and he said I don't know any way around it he said we can't get up there and read and and I said well mayor I've got a fault he said well what is that I said could my choir come and sing it I'll teach our choir and there was a woman named Mary and angel of the Lord came down hey it's worth a shot and he felt for a minute and he said no he said no I better not but he made his statement to me he said of all the churches he said you all are a community within the community that's affecting the community he said you are a community inside the community that's affecting the community you see cults and things they're a community within a community but they don't affect the community but the church is a community within the community that has an effect upon the community as long as we let this little light shine as long as we're the salt of the earth as long as we're different than the culture as long as we are the spiritual counterculture to the wicked counterculture that's going on how many want to run counterculture to the counterculture I do but I want to ask a guy are we going to have to dive into something tonight that we need to understand and educate ourselves with as a culture a community within a community I want to simply explain to us tonight and to a generation coming up why we wear the apparel that we wear why do we wear the apparel clothing does clothing matter maybe that would be the heading we could put on this does clothing matter now if it matters to God then it matters if it matters to God it matters now I want to make something absolutely clear here tonight I have never nor would I ever preach from observation you remember the three E's I told you about evangelize edify and educate we need to continually be educating the church as to the why we do what we do if there's ever been a day it's today because there has never been a culture of question like the culture that we're living in right now is a matter of fact several counter cultural movements in the past because there's been several waves of a counterculture that's come in it's not all we've been one tsunami was a tsunami wave that's come through it's been several waves that's come in and one of the hallmarks about a culture a counterculture movement is this one statement they train their people question authority question established authorities question it now the Bible says that we are to study that we may be able to give an answer and when it comes to giving an answer for why we do what we do we fail miserably when we make statements such as that's what my church teaches that's what my pastor teaches that's what my parents believe you'll never last the counterculture giving that answer the only powerful thing more powerful than the spirit that is behind the counterculture is the Living Word of God in the mouth of somebody that says the Bible says the Bible says in Deuteronomy chapter 22 and verse number five it says the woman shall not wear that which pertaineth unto a man neither shall a man put on a woman's garment for all that do so are an abomination unto the Lord God so early God began to establish something during onam II 20 to 5 we asked the question why does the Bible have more external standards for women than for men I think this is something our youth group could hear tonight why does the Bible have more external standards for women than for men pastor Raymond Woodward has done a tremendous job in putting together an outline that I'm using tonight in a series entitled because we are his why does the Bible have more external standards for women than for men number one God created men and women differently men and women are created differently men are stimulated by sight this is why Jesus said whosoever look at the bone a woman to lust after her hath committed adultery with her already in his heart notice the Bible did not say who serve a look upon a man said whosoever looketh upon a woman this is not because it wouldn't be sinful for for a woman to visually less or because women have no inclination to these visually less but because women are generally not tempted by the lust of the eye as men are not generally in the same way women are more commonly given to enticing dress than men are we read in the scripture the attire of a harlot that's in Proverbs a bubble speaks about the attire of a harlot but isn't what isn't it amazing that we never read of the attire of a whoremonger we read of the attire of a harlot we never heard in the scripture the attire of a whoremonger women not men are warned especially of this sin in the scripture would you turn with me to first Timothy chapter 2 and verse number 9 remember tonight I am educating our kin and we'll evangelize I can and will edify but we need educating because our youth group in our church our culture within a culture that's affecting the culture must be able to give an answer to why the apparel question 1st Timothy chapter 2 and verse number 9 and 10 I will therefore that men pray everywhere lifting up holy hands without wrath and doubting in like manner also that women adorn themselves in modest apparel with shamefacedness and sobriety not with broided hair or gold or pearls or costly array but which becometh a woman professing godliness with good works Paul said that women should dress in a way that speaks of their femininity and that speaks of their relationship with God when asked the question why do you dress the way you do you first begin by saying I dress the way that I do because I am a female God made me a female and I dress the way that I do because I want my dress to speak of my relationship with the Lord Jesus Christ could you give the Lord a hand right now now this is not because men cannot sin in the way they dress but merely because the sin of intentional enticement enticement in dress is not so much the sin of men as it is of the sin of women so there there are in the scriptures more spoken about the woman than the man because of the visual stimulation of the man why do fallen women have an innate innate desire to entice men in the way they appear because they instinctively know that men are attracted by sight but you are not a fallen woman you are a redeemed woman women on the other hand are stimulated by touch either physically or emotionally that they intuitively realize they cannot get a man to touch them unless they first appeal to him visually this is why Paul gives this command regarding women he said in first Corinthians 7:1 it is good for a man not to touch a woman godly men must refrain from touching physically or emotionally even when a woman tries to entice them visually can you say men while a woman is commanded to appear in a certain way so that the man is not stimulated the man is commanded to act a certain way so that the woman is not stimulated touch not this is why there are more external standards for women the additional rules for appearance are for the lady's own protection to protect her from the lust of fallen man now I want to read you one of the most misinterpreted scriptures in all the Bible I believe second only to first Corinthians 11 where Paul wrote about a woman's glory which is her uncut hair he wrote for several verses about a woman's uncut hair was her glory was given to her by God for a glory and then he comes to the end and he makes this statement he said if any man seem to be contentious we have no such custom and many people have grabbed that one verse and said see there it don't matter about a woman's hair it just don't matter no no you don't know you're horribly murdering that verse it means that we don't have the custom of any and we don't have the any we don't recognize any other custom but what this is any man seem to be continued contentious about it you're the odd duck you're contentious and you're all alone but you see the problem we have today in the church we're getting more people that are contentious than we are that are convicted and it doesn't matter how many are the side of contention let heaven and earth pass away but God's Word is still the truth brother the sisters tonight hear me this is not a threat and I don't believe I'm ugly spirity tonight but if preaching the Bible empties out this sanctuary may it be set in history he stayed true to the Word of God he never filled that building up but he certainly stayed true to the word of the Living God because at the end of time when I stand before God he's not going to ask me how many I ran in Sunday school he's not gonna ask me who came to the church is gonna say son did you stay faithful to the Word of God first Samuel 16 in verse number 17 there's ever been a scripture that has been that has been horribly misinterpreted it's this one but the Lord said unto Samuel look not on his countenance but on nor on or on behalf of his statue because I have refused him for the Lord see if not as Mencia for man looketh on the outward appearance but the Lord looketh on the heart oh how many people in trying to tell us that we don't have to wear modest apparel how many people tell us that you don't have to wear apparel that identifies your femininity it enta Phi's your sex as a female you don't have to wear a payroll that identifies that identifies your sex as a male let me tell you something friend the first counterculture came when meet women started dressing like men but I got an advertisement the other day and I don't know why they sent me this advertisement but I have been they bought a tie or a suit or something from this store and they sent me a little catalog and it had men standing there in high-heeled shoes and a skirt and a necktie and a jacket and I'm thinking what in the name of time take me off your list but you see there was a culture that looked at women look dressing like men and were appalled at it but as that counterculture came in the church maintained that old standard of Deuteronomy 22:5 that there is a distinction between the apparel of a woman and the apparel of a man now please please understand tonight as I fight for your soul and fight for your attention don't allow your flesh to rise up tonight because your flesh needs to be crucified because the question that we're asking tonight is who do you want to bring glory to do you want to bring glory to yourself or do you want to bring glory to the Lord Jesus Christ do we have any young women here tonight do we have any mothers here tonight any elderly ladies here tonight that you want your dress jumper and glory and honor to who you are as a female and as a female that loves God now blood carbon of the Bible said that man looks on the outward that the Lord looks on the heart you know that's a scripture that proves why we ought to live holy that's the scripture that proves we ought to have a parallel that identify us as a female or a male and as a godly female what's that a chalkboard I'd be a teacher those were educating tonight turn to your neighbor and say he's educating turn the other neighbor and say he will evangelize later turn to the other neighbor and say he'll edify later I say tonight he's educating it takes all of them I can't leave we can't leave any of it out if any scripture proves that we need if any scripture proves that we need an outward apparel it's this for man looketh on the outward that's as far as men can see but the Lord looks on the heart can I tell you I'm not dressing for the Lord I'm dressing to be a witness for the Lord to men men can't see my heart oh man can sees my outward get it who are we supposed to be trying to win how far can men see and they need to see something that's different than the culture that we're living in they need to see a modest people not an immodest people does it matter how we appear outside on the outside if God looks on the heart absolutely this same verse tells us that men does look on the outward appearance so it doesn't matter you see the subject of holiness and dress is sensitive because it touches many people where they treasure most their pride their pride how I look how I look well pride tells you that you need to look to impress people but that's not God when you subdue pride crucify pride you understand that I want to dress in a way that brings attention to my Savior some people want a dress to reveal their social and economic levels and when a dress to impress what does it that rhyme they want a dress to impress but how about something that sounds like this why don't we dress to reveal our morals why not the reason that we dress be that because we're dressing the way that we dress because we want to reveal our moral values we don't want the world to admire us because that guy's got some kind of a this name-brand suit or this name-brand purse or it's name-brand this or this neighborhood that's not that's pride that's pride when you dress to wanna to get the admiration it's it's its pride to dress in a way to entice a man it's pride to dress in a way that somebody sees you and and knows that you've got to have a little bit of you've got to have a little bit of money or the appearance of a little bit of money that's pride what men and women need to do in the church is to dress we need to dress in a certain way not only in the house of God but when we're on vacation when we're at home in the front yard in the back yard when we're going throughout our community we need to dress in a certain way that they see the community inside the community somebody help me tonight people who adorn their bodies with eye-catching cosmetics jewelry and clothing or seeking for love attention and the acceptance of others but when they become a Christian and discover that God accepts them as they are in their natural beauty they gradually lose this desire to decorate their bodies and they recognize that what Jesus loves most about them is the inward adorning of the heart they willingly follow the simplicity of Jesus lifestyle even in their clothes and in their appearance people do what they do in the world to get acceptance people do what they do in the world to be loved but when we know we come to the foot of the cross and we come into a relationship with Jesus Christ then we know that He loves us we don't have to put all of these things on we don't have to reveal all of these things we know that He loves us just like we are we know that he loves the simplicity of our heart then we begin to remove the things from us tonight we begin to remove those things because I'm no longer trying to please the world I'm no longer trying to get the attention of the world if external holiness in dress is not developed in the life of a believer boy in the Apostolic Church if there has ever been a time that we need to stand strong I hear statements well they believe the message they just don't do the standards then they're not the church because standards are connected to holiness and the Bible says follow peace with all men and holiness without which no man will see the Lord so when they say oh we believe the doctor we believe the men we just don't do the standard stuff then then you're not the church because the Church of Jesus Christ is not just the Church of getting born again but after you're born again that same church after it evangelizes you it will begin to educate you now listen to me tonight if external holiness in dress is not developed in the life of a believer then in maturity and a worldly spirit or incorrect teaching is to blame the concern of most churches is to teach people how to become a Christian while they're not teaching them how to live as Christians we won't teach you how to become a Christian but after you become a Christian you need to be taught how to live as a Christian God never changes God never changes as a result there are many sincere believers who are sincerely doing what is wrong before God Hosea 4 and 6 if you give me that verse of scripture Hosea 4 and 6 says these words my people are destroyed for a lack of knowledge education education my people are destroyed for a lack of knowledge because there thou has rejected knowledge I will also reject we see tonight tonight I hope this pre-k's you to stay I hope there'll be a lot of people with their Bibles out when I get done teaching tonight and baptize them they'll say you don't have to help me write this I hope there's no people just to know but that's not right that's I'm just gonna set my this last time we're gonna come here I just did listen you're here this is what you're doing this is what you did my people are destroyed for a lack of knowledge because thou has rejected knowledge I will also reject thee that thou shall be no priest to me seeing thou has forgotten the law of thy God I will also forget that children you know what you're doing tonight if you if you let this Bible lesson on holiness and and in this it was God that made man and woman and just just help me tonight just stay with me tonight it was God who clothed man for the first time now notice what I didn't say it wasn't the first time man had been clothed God clothed man he did but man had attempted to clothe himself when his eyes were opening he realized he was what naked he took fig leaves and sewed them together and made aprons allowin belt is what the Hebrew says just the belt to cover his midsection and Eve's midsection and evidently that's sufficed Adam Adam well we're not naked anymore but then they begin to hear the voice of God Genesis 3:10 they begin to hear the voice of God and when they hit up heard the voice of God they ran and hid themselves and when God said why are you hiding they said because we are naked wait a minute one moment I saw a fig leaves together and I'm not naked but God shows up and I'm naked and that's exactly right because it's not how you see it tonight I'll see you tonight it's how God sees it tonight that's right I don't care what you and I get together and we say oh this is not that bad oh this don't look that bad it doesn't matter a hill of beans what I think and you think but all that matters is tonight what God says I'm not here tonight trying to lick my finger and see if this is a popular message tonight I very well know that I'll find hell over the message of holiness but on listen I'll not only tell you tonight but I'll tell the adversary tonight I'll roll my sleeves up and I'll fight you till the day that I die because holiness is right and this generation needs young ladies tonight you wear the apparel that you wear because you are a female you wear the modest apparel that you wear because you are a female that wants to bring glory and honor to God and if you're not you can wear anything you want to wear because you're trying other things but if you want to love God then you're going to wear something that identifies your female and identifies you as a modest woman not interested in my culture things hi interested what and don't pull you may be seated don't pull the majority's a trump card out on some well the majority of Peabody ma'am I take you back to another day that there was a man in the minority his name was Noah and God told Noah to build an ark and Noah built an ark and there was eight family members including Noah I don't know how many millions of thousands of people that were on the earth at that time but when the rain came only eight people got in that Ark and the majority was washed away in judgment and when the flood rescinded there was eight people that walked off that are on that new earth and can I tell you tonight according to the Word of God judgment is coming to this earth I want to stand like righteous Noah and preach to us tonight and tell you judgment is coming to this earth and we don't need to be moved by counterculture we don't need to be moved by culture that is dismissed God from its public school we don't need to be moved by culture that allows the slaughter of unborn children we don't need to be moved on culture that allows two men and two women to be together in marriage we need to be the charge of the Living God we need to be the church and I'm telling you one day we may need to be the minority but one day the trumpets gonna sound and we're going to become the majority somebody giving praise tonight come on teacher teach me come on teacher teach me come on teacher teach me come on teacher teach me you reject knowledge tonight God cannot use you as a priest but it's the last thing on that verse 6 that gets my attention I will also forget that you put eyes put Hosea 6-4 back on the screen it's the last few words of that verse 6 that gets not you and I will also I will also forget that children the greatest thing you could pass down to your children is the doctrine of holiness it's the greatest thing many ministers preach Jesus accepts you no matter how you live or what you wear that message is true but incomplete the good news of the gospel is is that Jesus initially accepts you as we are but he also will empower us to become what we ought to be you know a good example of this Darian he purposely goes to where a demon-possessed man is living in the tombs and when he meets the man he's devil possessed and he is naked but when he got ready to leave the Bible says that the man was clothed and in his right mind did he accept him as he was you better believe it a screaming yelling maniac naked he accepted him but he didn't leave him that way this God accept us as we are absolutely but thank God we don't have to stay as we are why don't you just lift your hands and let him right now come on just levy right now hallelujah hallelujah hallelujah we must teach people not only to profess their faith but we must teach the congregation how to practice your faith you see the devil cares very much about how we profess profess our faith how much lip
