if you have your bibles tonight return with me to the book of acts acts chapter 27 and verse number 23 i believe what i'm wearing tonight is going to help us understand what god wants us to become verse 23 for there stood by me this night the angel of god whose i am and whom i serve i want to preach for just a few moments on serve your way out of the storm serve your way i've heard pray your way out of the storm i've heard praise your way out of the storm but i want to preach tonight on serve your way out of the storm put your hands up ask god to touch tonight in jesus name oh mighty god mighty god mighty god mighty god mighty god lord anoint your servant tonight lord anoint me with your spirit god lord help me to be a servant lord god help me to take on the role of a servant to my this church god help the spirit lord let the spirit of a servant fall upon the young and the old tonight god lord help us to serve god help me to relay this message in jesus name i pray amen you may be seated verse 23 again for there stood by me this night the angel of god whose i am and whom i serve serve your way out of the storm we understand this evening that this passage of scripture is in reference of the apostle paul who was then a prisoner of rome on a ship that he was on as a prisoner and he was headed to rome to be tried we know as we go back in the verses we go to verse number 9 of chapter 27 simply says now when much time was spent and when sailing was now dangerous because the fast was now already past paul admonished them and said unto them sirs i perceive that this voyage will be with hurt and much damage not only of the ladding and ship but also of our lives nevertheless the centurion believed the master and the owner of the ship more than those things which were spoken by paul i'd like to take a few moments at the beginning of this message to set the stage paul a prisoner on this ship the time in the seasons had grown late it had grown to where it was dangerous for the ships to be out on the open sea because it was the hurricane season we understand that they were at a period of time to where they were going to take a chance or not and we know that paul spoke up on this boat and paul told them and i do believe that paul was being led of the spirit he was not a sailor he was not one that knew the open sea other than the times but he said i have a spiritual perception that this ship is going to meet with much damage and also of our lives but in verse number 11 we find that the bible says nevertheless the centurion the one that was over paul believed the master and the owner of the ship more than those things which were spoken by paul sometimes in our lives we have different voices we have to choose it was the voice of the centurion that wanted to get a job done and get prisoners to roam there was the voice of the master and the owner of the ship that had cargo that needed to be paid there was the apostle paul that gave the spiritual perception of the loss and of course as life is you choose the voice you listen to young people you choose that choice is yours your pastor can't choose for you your mom and dad can't choose for you we can only put you in earshot of the right voice the bible says that they made the decision to set sail and that they did the 13th verse says and when the south wind blew softly supposing they had obtained their purpose losing fence they sailed close by crete but not long after there arose against it a tempetuous wind called urocliden it was a wind that blew in every different direction it was a fierce wind it was a wind that was like no other storm they had ever been no doubt when they got caught in your rocklin they were living with a lot of regret i wished we hadn't set sail but sometimes in life when we ignore the voices that tell us to stay put sometimes we have to learn the lessons of the storm we have to learn the lessons of the storm the bible goes on from verse 17 and tells about how they would handle the ship the bible says which when they had taken up they used helps undergirding the ship fearing lest they should fall into the quicksand straight cell and soul were driven and we being exceedingly tossed with the tempus the next day they lightened the ship sometimes in the storm you have to lose things to get through the storm but the cargo that once had a lot of value to it now doesn't have value at all because you're trying to save your life there are some losses in the storm that are worth losing the bible goes on and we'll just travel down to get to my text tonight verse number verse number 19 and the third day we cast out with our own hands the tackling of the ship and when neither sun nor stars in many days appeared and no small tempest lay hold on us all hope that we should be saved was taken away there are some times throughout your storm maybe i speak to someone tonight that's in a storm there are a season of your storm that you go through and you cannot see any hope you cannot see the sun would give you light you cannot see the stars which would give you direction and the bible simply says that all hope not most hope but all hope that we should be saved was taken away but it's always the darkest before the dawn i come tonight in the authority of my savior jesus christ to tell someone who is in the nighttime season of no hope that don't despair and whatever you do don't give up because god knows where the servant's at verse 21 but after long abstinence paul stood forth in the midst of them they wouldn't listen to him on dry land that's okay i understand paul they some folks won't listen to you when they're calling the shots there's some folks that won't listen to you when they're in their harbor they would rather listen to the owner of the ship they would rather listen to other voices that's okay but god will put you in a storm and the voice that you neglected can become the voice that you will say preacher preach me out of this storm preacher help me get out of this storm i've tried the world i've tried the things of the world but i need to know how to get out of this storm but after long abstinence paul stood forth in the midst of them and said sirs you should have hearkened unto me and not have loosed from crete to have gained this harm in this loss now i don't think paul was saying i told you so i don't think paul was rubbing their nose i don't think paul was was being some kind of irritant to them like well you should have listened to me but i believe he made the statement in order to get them to listen to him now do you want to get out of your storm it's not too late but you got to listen to me now you made the wrong decision you went the wrong direction it seemed good for a while you seemed almost convinced that you were right and the word was wrong but now in your midnight hour in your dark hour with no sun and stars now you see things a little different now i believe that you're willing to listen to god and to listen to his word he says in verse 22 and now i exhort you to be of good cheer now that's a that's an odd admonition for a group of people that can't see the sun or the stars he said i want you to be of good cheer cheer is an emotion of joy cheer is an emotion that the answer is on the way he says i want you to cheer up and pardon the pun tonight but there was a laundry detergent years ago called cheer and it was good temperature all temperature cheer and i'm going to tell you something if you will let god cheer you regardless of how cold you are in the lord tonight he can lift you up regardless of how lukewarm you might be tonight you got to realize that you need the lord with everything there is hope for you don't you allow yourself to believe there's no hope i know you've not seen the sun i know you've not seen the stars but i've come tonight to tell you to cheer up because god has got an answer he says to be of good cheer he says to be of good sheer for there shall be no loss of any man's life among you but of the ship he said the ship is going to be destroyed but your life is greater than the ship god can re god can replace the ship but god doesn't want to replace your life there are things that can be replaced but there are things that can't be replaced and god said you're going to lose what can be replaced and verse 23 is my text verse 23 is the whole reason this story turns around verse 23 is the whole reason that 276 souls were saved 276 souls were saved yes the ship was broken to pieces but 276 men on board that ship swam to dry land and it all has to do with verse 23 for there stood by me this night the angel of god whose i am he said i belong to god i belong to him but can i tell you tonight that i'm not just a taker i'm a giver i'm not just somebody i'm not a sponge christian somebody said i just love to come to church and soak it up i don't want to be a sponge christian i want to be somebody that can soak it up but pour it out and here's the verse 276 men are saved because of this i am whose i am and whom i serve i don't just belong to him i serve him there's a lot of folks want to talk about i'm one of god's children that's good but do you serve him because when god looked down through the thick clouds and when god with eternal eyesight sharper than any laser could look when radar couldn't find them and nobody knew where they were well mighty god of heaven brother hammond nobody knew where they were and they didn't know where they were at but there was a god that had a man on that boat one out of 276 was a man that was a servant of jesus christ and when god said i'm not going to let that vote go down not for the 275 but i've got a servant on board that ship and i've got to use that servant hey do you want to get out of the storm be a servant of god find some way to serve god he said i am the servant of god whose i am and whose i serve saying fear or not paul notice he didn't say fear not boatload he said fear not paul you see if you just get one servant in a family god can do a work in your family if god can just get one servant in your whole family that's why if you're the only one serving god you're fighting hell like never before because hell knows you're the only hope for that family serve god mother serve god father serve god young person don't feel sorry for yourself and give up and get in a pity party serve god young man serve god young woman serve god sister amy go message kroger because there's a bend that's working with you that's going to come to church and get baptized in jesus name come on we need some servants tonight we need some servants tonight serve your way out of your storm instead of god instead of you waiting for god to bring you some kind of amazon delivery to your door instead of you're waiting for some kind of delivery to your door get up find something to serve god he says fear not paul thou must be brought before caesar and lo god hath given thee all them that sail with thee wherefore sirs be of good cheer for i believe god that it shall be even as it was told me now now they look at him different because paul just said to them god's going to save you god's going to save all 275 of you because i'm on the board this ship i'm on board this ship i've got to go to rome i've got a book of romans to write i've got a caesar to testify to i've got the work of god to attend to and all 275 of you are going to be saved because i serve god but you'll only be saved if you'll listen to the servant because we know that when they dropped anchor they started finding that the the their depth was was getting more shallow although they couldn't see as they put their depth finder down they found that it was more shallow and more shallow and they said we better stop right here lest we run ashore it was dark the bible said they dropped four anchors out and they waited for the day to come and while they dropped four anchors out there were some men that stood over to the side and they got a plan they said hey i'm not so sure about this servant guy i'm not so sure about his plan for our salvation they begin to eye the lifeboats and they began to get a plan and that the bible said they acted under color or disguise they went over and acted like they were strengthening the ropes on the lifeboats that hung on the side of the ship but what they were going to do was get in the little ships and go away now the reason that was harmful is they would have lost their lives in the little ship and so when paul saw them and knew what they were doing paul gave to the centurion and he said if these men get in these boats and they don't stay with the servant the worst thing you can do is to get in a boat without a servant the worst thing you can do is to get in a place in a situation in your life that god doesn't have his eye god doesn't have his eye upon you and paul said i'm telling you centurion if you let them get in this boat their lives will be lost and the centurion ordered for knives to be drawn and they cut the ropes on the lifeboats and they let the lifeboats drift away do you know i really believe that sometimes in our lives lifeboats represent another option lifeboats represent a plan b let me tell you god has a plan a for your life why don't you just get your obedience out tonight and cut the lifeboats of plan b away and just decide in your this night tonight i am done i'm going to be a servant of jesus christ i am tired of being in the dark i am tired of being in the confusion i'm going to cut the lifeboats off tonight i'm going to cut those lifeboats off tonight would you pray with me right now oh yes oh yes oh yes oh yes oh yes oh yes to the young lady that's contemplating dating out of the faith to the young lady that has waited for god to send you that night in shining armor to the young lady that has waited and kept yourself pure can i tell you in this last hour there's a lifeboat that satan's going to tempt you with but you've got to get some determination inside of you young lady young man that you're going to cut that lifeboat off if i have to remain my life all the way single i'd rather live single for god than to be yoked up with somebody that's not god's will come on we need a rope cutting revival to break out among us some of you have got a plan b god's dealing with my heart some of you have got a plan b you need to cut that plan b off your boat tonight your plan b is going to go down your plan b is gonna sink and you're gonna lose your life and your plan b i know plan a doesn't look like much it's got an apostolic preacher in the midst but if you just listen to him you're gonna step on dry land and you're going to be saved oh god give us a servant can i tell you servants in your life have a way of changing your life servants in your life have a way of changing your life brother carpenter you don't know how bad i have it brother carpenter you don't realize what's happened to me the way i've been raised you don't realize the tragedy the trauma the setback that i've had you don't realize what's going on in my life brother carpenter no i don't but can i introduce you to a little girl who's possibly 12 years old could i introduce you to a little unnamed girl in the old testament that probably is at the age of 12 no more than 12. can i tell you there she was in her jewish home in her jewish homeland playing in the front yard there she was with a mom and a dad and a future and a god of jehovah but overnight the syrians came in and she possibly witnessed the death of her father most of the time that's what they did they killed the men if the women were young enough they took them to be servants if the children they always save the children you can re-educate the children you can cause the children to grow up and forget about what it was like to grow up so in second kings chapter five and verse number one into this world this little girl went i wonder how many nights i wonder how many nights she cried herself to sleep please don't dismiss this little girl from what would happen i wonder how many nights riding in an old wooden buggy i wonder how many nights she cried herself to sleep selena i wonder how many nights she woke up in the morning crying possibly saying mama mama i want my mama but months passed and it became a cold hard reality mama's not coming daddy's not coming she finds herself standing on a block of wood and an auctioneer selling her off a man steps up of which i would introduce you to him now now naaman captain of the host of the king of syria was a great man with his master and honorable because by him the lord had given deliverance unto syria he was also a mighty man in valor but he was a leper his days were numbered he was stage five cancer he's going to die his days are numbered it's in this home verse two and the syrians had gone out by companies and had brought away captive out of the land of israel a little maid and she waited she served naaman's wife oh what pressure that must have been not only am i away from home but i have to serve the very ones that took me from my home i have to serve the very ones that disrupted my life do i hear the word tonight it's not fair it's not fair i have to wash the feet of the wife of the soldier that disrupted my home i have to i have to do the laundry i have to wait on them hand in foot and the bible says in verse 3 and she said unto her mistress would god my lord were with the prophet that is in samaria for he would recover him of his leprosy can i ask you something tonight some would be too bitter to ever tell somebody the answer some would have looked at that and said uh-huh you get what you deserve bub you get what you deserve cry in pain lay in pain die in pain leprous naaman you get what you deserve but i wonder tonight if the highest form of servanthood is when you serve those that have despitefully used you i wonder if the highest form of a servant is when you serve your enemy with prayer oh it's hard come on it's hard have you ever been there have you ever been there somebody has backstabbed you somebody has gossiped on you somebody has dug up old trash about your life and you'd like to return gossip with gossip but all of a sudden in the prayer room god says pray for him i want you to pray for him i want you to pray that i bless them i want you to pray that i use them oh god can i tell you tonight some of the hardest prayers you'll ever pray is for those that have done you wrong but you know what i gotta watch you know what i've gotta watch i gotta watch the esau syndrome if you study the bible esau did nothing wrong he did absolutely nothing wrong it was jacob that did the wrong to esau's life but in reference to esau the statement is made lest a root of bitterness spring up and trouble you and defile you can i tell you i have to forgive you i must forgive you oh don't pin a rose on me yet because i'm saving my own hide because i can't afford to let bitterness spring up i can't afford to let that unforgiveness spring up i've got to forgive you and i've got to forgive you quick i've got to serve you and i've got to serve you in prayer i've got to tell you about the cure even though you caused the chaos and confusion in my life i've got to do that oh my i feel the holy ghost on me right now that little girl could have looked at that man dying of leprosy and thought you get what you deserve buddy but she chose to serve the ones that turned her life upside down she chose to serve them with prayers and she said to her naaman's wife if my if your husband was in the land of israel there's a prophet of god that could heal him and it all started brother dean it all started from that naaman got with his king his king sent a letter to israel's king and before you know it naaman's on his way to the land of israel and before you know it naaman dips seven times in jordan and naaman is completely healed of his leprosy where did it all start a little girl that did not allow bitterness to keep her mouth shut some people have allowed bitterness to shut their mouth of praise they have allowed hurt to shut their mouth of prayer but i've come tonight to tell you you are completely lost if there's not a servant on board if there's not a servant on board your kids will be doomed if there's not a servant on board you've got to serve your way out of the storm but wait a minute this story takes another turn naaman goes back to the prophet and he tries to give the prophet gifts of which the prophet wouldn't accept and then naaman had one last request of him naaman said prophet would you permit that two mules be granted and as much dirt from the holy land as much dirt from the promised land that i can put on two mules i want to take back with me because in my house i want to build uh i want to build an altar using dirt from the holy land i want to use this dirt to build this altar and now that little girl that was taken captive that had no connection with the holy land in walks her hus walks her master clean of leprosy but they start pouring out dirt and they start building an altar and he says honey this is dirt you'll never go back to your land things may never be like they once were but there's a place in this house that you can come and stand and say this is what's going to get me through it's my altar that i have things change things change when there's a servant in the house things change as a matter of fact the first miracle of water turned into wine when they feel the water pots with water and let me go ahead and tell you who filled the water pots with water not the dignitaries let me tell you who filled the water past with water not the guest of the bride or the groom can i tell you there is some unnamed servants that filled every jar with water and so when that bridegroom and that governor of that feast tasted that first water that had been turned wine and he stopped and the bible said there's something unusual here this governor said there's something unusual here normally at any feast i've been out they put the best wine first and after everybody's mouth has been saturated with good wine they bring out the less they bring out the lesser wine they bring out that which is less at the last you have the best at the first and you have the less at the last you know there's some people that want to believe that's how their life's going to be they had the best and the first and now they're going to have to live in the less you only live in the last and the last if you don't have a servant spirit but the governor said i got to tell them something about this ceremony they have saved the best wine to last they have saved the best to last can i tell you and the bible simply says they didn't know but it says but the servants knew the servants know you see next sunday night at uh at this our praise and our our christmas program next sunday night next sunday night there's going to be guests here many of you are going to walk by them and not know their name but there's going to be a servant daycare teacher there's going to be a servant christian school teacher that's going to walk by and say that's john that's susie we have their kids in our class that's them can i tell you tonight serve on apostolic christian academy serve on apostolic christian school serve on serve on i know that you may feel like nobody sees your service but rock those babies tell them a bible scripture tell that teenager go on with a settlement go on be an influence in a troubled mind serve on serve on serve on the servants the servants the servants the servants knew you see tonight we need to see church for what it is we need to see church for what it is in the book of psalms in the book of psalms chapter number 100 it's a very short chapter the book of psalms chapter 100 verse number one make a joyful noise unto the lord all your land serve the lord with gladness come before his presence with singing did you know tonight when you make it part of your life to be at church on sunday night when you make it part of your life to be at church on sunday morning when you make it part of your life to be at churchill midweek service do you know you're serving the lord when you walk in here tonight at six o'clock or maybe 5 30 for prayer did you know you were serving the lord when you begin to sing tonight right left in front in back over me under me did you know you were serving the lord you were serving the lord no wonder the enemy fights church attendance no wonder the enemy fights if you get here the enemy is going to fight you singing serve the lord church god recognizes a servant everybody can be lost around you but god recognizes a servant oh let's not have one pew without appraiser would you help me tonight let's not have youth group let's not have one pew that there's not a praiser on that pew that there's not somebody serving the lord serve the lord serve the lord with gladness come before his presence with singing know ye that the lord he is god it is he that hath made us and not we ourselves we are his people in the sheep of his pasture enter into his gates with thanksgiving into his courts with praise be thankful unto him bless his name for the lord is good and his mercy everlasting and his truth endureth to all generations can i tell you we need some dogmatic people about church attendance i'm reminded of a lady in north carolina who was married to an alcoholic for whatever reason when he would get drunk he would give her a hard time about going to church one sunday afternoon he was well lit drunk he was declaring you're not going to church oh no not tonight you're not going to church and she kept on just i'm going to church she kept on getting ready and the more she got ready the matter and the drunker he got until he stood in the doorway and he said i'm telling you you are not going to church tonight about that time he raised his voice i guess the alcohol and the raising of the voice he passed out and he slid mother far purposely just just beautifully down the door frame and set in doorway she made sure he's breathing she stepped over him and went on to church she got home after a good apostolic holy ghost service and she got out of the car brother kip and though her husband was still passed out in the doorway she just gently stepped over him and she said it was like a magic wand said the moment i stepped over him said he sobered up and stood up he said see there i told you you wasn't going can i tell you this evening that we're serving god by being here tonight it's not a waste of time good things happen at church better things happen at church than they do home i said better things happen at church than they do home somebody said y'all have too much church here can i tell you something you're going to find something to do with your time i said you're going to find something to do with your time golf shop sleep watch a movie you're gonna find something to do with your time would you not amen the fact that none of that is greater than serving god oh yeah but i need family time you can't have any better family time than coming to the house of god hey there's my daughter in the choir hey there's my grandbaby in the choir hey there's my grandson he just took a lap around the building hey hey you can't have a better time in the house of god serve the lord sir just let me get this out of my spirit tonight let me let me get this tonight you do realize that in philippians that jesus christ could have come in any form but he came in the form of a servant he came in the form of a servant he came in one that was not waiting to be served he came in the form of one who was serving you want to get out of your storm john you want to get out of your storm john the revelator do you the first verse of the book of revelation is going to tell you how he did it john a servant of jesus christ do you know how you're going to get out your storm you're going to serve your way out of the storm you'll pray sure you will and you'll praise sure you will and you may even dance sure your will but the sure way out of your storm is to find some way to serve god some way if it's a vacuum cleaner or a lawnmower handle if it's a shovel if it's a broom if it's watching kids in the nursery if it's singing in the choir whatever it may be church serve god find something to serve god now i'm going to tell you you might say tonight brother carpenter i i am you you may say you may say tonight but corbin i i can't i'm up in that i'm up in age i don't have the movement that i used to i can't mow i can't move a vacuum cleaner you dear elderly saint of god can i tell you you can serve this church by praying for it you can serve this church by getting up in the morning if you're an early riser this church opens at 6 30 every morning if you're an early riser you'll rise before 6 30 pray god's protection upon this building pray god keeps his angels around here as hundreds come as hundreds come and will be on these grounds monday through friday pray that for protection pray for spiritual protection not only that pray that in one of the chapel services one of the chapel services that somebody receives the holy ghost that somebody is baptized that somebody has moved upon you can serve the lord serve the lord would you stand with me tonight you can serve the lord you can serve the lord tonight it was a woman in the book of luke her name was anna her name was anna she had been married for seven years and her husband her husband had died she'd been married for seven years the bible says in luke 2 36 and there was one anna a prophetess the daughter of fenug of the tribe of esser she was of great age and had lived with a husband seven years from her virginity she was a widow of about four score 84 years she had been a widow woman for 84 years her husband had died in her youth she had been married seven short years when tragedy struck and she finds herself a young widow but the bible says she departed not from the temple look at verse 37 she departed not from the temple but served god with fastings and prayers day and night 84 years she was in the temple 84 years missing meals serving god offering prayers but on this particular morning the morning of the circumcision of the child christ jesus she comes into the temple after 84 years of fasting in prayer she came into the temple at verse 38 and in that instant gave thanks likewise unto the lord and spake of him to all that look for the redemption of jerusalem 84 years oh i wish somebody could sing that song for me tonight it's an old song it's going to be worth it all it's going to be worth it all it's going to be worth it all some beautiful glad day it's going to be worth every heartache it's going to be worth every sorrow it's going to be worth every pain do you all realize tonight keep serving god because our 84 years is going to dawn and the trump is going to sound and the corruptable is going to put on incorruption and we're going to be changed in a moment and in the twinkling of an eye it's going to be well you may not know that song but brother erickson would you come right now and close this service out tonight with that song that simply says i can only imagine i can only imagine 84 years of trial 84 years of pain come on now warm up to me tonight i'm not trying to hype you up i'm in a servant's garment tonight because living for god is not about two-piece suits and fancy steak dinners and big church conferences and all of that serving god is about changing babies diapers over here in the nursery wanting to be in this auditorium but no i need to help some mother be able to listen to the preaching i need to be able to do this serving god sister rickett brother rickett serving god may feel like we just need to move and we need to move we need to be we need to be in this church where i can be this teacher we need we just feel like god's leading i know sister ricketts you miss home brother rick and i i know that with all my heart but somehow in our serving of god it's going to be worth it all someday when there is no tennessee and no florida and no boundaries we're all in heaven i can only imagine now listen to me right now i want to serve you if you're here tonight in your center if you're here tonight you're broken if you're here tonight in your loss i want to serve you right now i want to open the altar for you right now i want to tell you to come down the aisle i want to tell you to come on down tonight jesus is waiting on you jesus wants to help you tonight i want to serve you tonight i want to serve you and tell you would you come down would you obey that lump in your throat would you obey that tightness in your belly would you come down tonight jesus waits to bathe you with love jesus waits to wrap his arms around you oh you're gonna listen you're gonna make it through this by serving god you're gonna make it through your storm you say brother carpenter you don't understand yes yes i can't imagine some of your storms but just find something to do find something to do for god you're going to serve your way through this storm come on move up as close around the altar as you can come on would you move as close to the altar as you can right now i'm going to serve god in this altar tonight i'm going to serve god i'm going to serve him tonight i'm going to serve him tonight i'm going to serve him tonight 84 years 84 years i've been missing meals 84 years i've been coming to this temple i could have got remarried many times but i just felt like i needed to serve god and after 84 years the christ child has arrived he's alright come on sing it brother erickson come on it's going to be worth it it's going to be worth it right now it's going to be worth it oh god i can only imagine what my eyes will see is before me i can only imagine my my knees i can only imagine only imagine when that day i can only imagine when all i will do is forever
