well praise the Lord everyone so thankful to be coming to you this evening online into your homes or wherever you may be at this time what a wonderful spirit of worship that we feel every time that we come together and begin to magnify the Lord and spirit and in truth I am so thankful as pastor Erickson was telling about the numbers that have come down and I'm thankful also brother Erickson for the hundreds of thousands that haven't died that was reported that there were going to be that many deaths and that's nowhere near that number and you say well they missed it well I don't know if they missed it as much as the church prayed it amen and I'm so thankful I every good thing I give God I don't give a four-leaf clover clover or a rabbit's foot or a lucky charm when anything good happens I get praise and honor to the king of kings and the Lord of lords and I so thankful I believe that we're about at the end of this and and hopefully in the next few weeks we're going to be worshiping the Lord together here in the auditorium and I am looking much much much forward to that to that day I had a an experience happen on Monday right here in this auditorium while I was praying you know I've tried to come and lay my hands upon every pew in this church daily and pray for the people that would set up on these pews and Monday as I was praying I had an experience in the Lord that I would like to share with you tonight it will tie in to sister Hannah's song about the alabaster box and close to the end of my message I will love you will begin to see why that song has something to do with the experience that I had on Monday I want to invite your attention to the book of James in chapter 4 and verse number 1 James chapter 4 and verse number 1 I believe it's noteworthy that James the book of James was the first written book that the early church had it was the first book the early church had no we know Matthew and Mark and we we know all the others came along but James was the first to write and he writes in James 4 in verse 1 from whence come Wars and Fighting's among you come they not hence even of your own lusts that war in your members ile us you have not you kill you kill and desire to have and cannot obtain you fight and war yet you have not because you ask not you ask and receive not because you ask amiss that you may consume it upon your lust ye adulterers and adulteresses know ye not that the friendship of the world is enmity with God whosoever therefore will be a friend of the world is the enemy of God do you think that the scripture saith in vain the spirit that dwelleth in us lusteth to envy but he giveth more grace wherefore he saith God resisteth the proud but giveth grace unto the humble submit your selves therefore to God resist the devil and he will flee from you for a few moments tonight I'd like to have a Bible lesson on a most important subject submission submission what a beautiful word what a beautiful word submission father I thank you tonight for your word I thank you tonight God that your word is a lamp it's a light it's a compass I thank you tonight Lord the only way we can be born again is by hearing your word father I ask you tonight to anoint my lips of clay with your spirit help me God to articulate what I feel in that I've in prayer about the service tonight help me God to articulate Lord the experience I had with you on Monday God let this Bible lesson tonight on submission let it change our way our lives our view God I'll give you the praise and the honor bless the people tonight Jesus name Amen and amen you may be seated James begins writing and upon first reading James for you would think he is referring to church members fighting one another you would read that and you would think he is talking about church members that are at odds church members that are fighting one another but in actuality James is talking about the war that goes on inside of the heart and the soul of a believer and so now with that in mind let's kind of review my opening text but this time let's not think about church people fighting let's identify the war that goes on inside of us he said from whence come these wars and Fighting's among you let's identify them in verse number 1 where do these wars come from he said they come from the very lusts that war in your members we understand that our spirits have been redeemed when we are filled with the Holy Ghost born again we know that our spirits are redeemed but we understand that we're still living in a body that must be kept under the flesh we must keep the flesh in submission we must keep the flesh in check but if the flesh is not kept in check this flesh it will lust and it actually Wars it wars against our spirit he said that we would lust and have-nots in other words the flesh is never satisfied you can never satisfy the flesh you give the flesh one bite of sin and he'll want another and another and another you lust and have-nots you kill and desire to have cannot obtain you're fighting war you have not because yes not now he's talking about here this this flesh that's left to itself and then he said you're never satisfied you you you you have not because you ask not at many many times and this is in reference to prayer but it's it's in reference to pray the right prayer we if we allow our flesh to run rampant we have not victory because we are not praying for victory we have not victory because our prayer is not the right prayer of victory of subduing our flesh and then he says yes and receive not because you ask amiss now it almost seems contradictory there he says up you have not because you ask not and then he says you ask you ask and receive not because you ask amiss in other words the flesh can become so deceitful that we won't pray the prayer we need to pray but we'll pray the prayer the flesh tells us to pray and he said the reason this prayer doesn't get answered you ask amiss at once there means with evil you you don't have the you don't have a will of God you don't have a will of God in mind that you may consume it upon your flesh then he says you adulterers and adulteresses enough he's not talking about people our believers that are committing adultery adultery literally he is talking about any time that we allow our flesh to be in control and we still yet try to maintain a walk with God or a belief that we're walking with God we try to we try to let our flesh dabble in what it wants to dabble in but yet maintain in our mind that we're a Christian he calls us an adulterer or an adulteress and of course this is one that is unfaithful and an adulterer or adulteress man or woman that is not faithful to their May and goes with someone else they are called that adulterer they are they are unfaithful they are not faithful so here he begins to talk about that when we are not as with our flesh and submission and we begin to let our flesh begin to roam into areas of sin he says Jesus says you're being unfaithful to me you're not being faithful to me you're not being true to me the adulterers and adulteresses know you're not that the friendship of the world is enmity with God he said don't you know that when you have a friendship with the world when when when things in the world have an allure to you heaven that they have have an enticement to you that the things of the things the system of the world oh I'm so thankful tonight for God's kingdom and the ways of God but he says if you love this world the friendship of this world is enmity with God in other words when we become a friend to the world in ways the ways of the world we become a friend to the world and the ways of the world we are actually building up a wall between us and God divided a wall between us and God whose server therefore will be a friend of the world is the enemy of God do you think I'm reading it again do you think the scripture said in vain I said do you think that God says scripture in vain what is this scripture the spirit that dwelleth in us lusteth to envy in other words God has proven himself to be a jealous God he said many times many times in the Bible that he's a he's a jealous God he he is married to you he he gave his life for you he desires a relationship with you there is no one that he loves any better than you but when you begin to look to the world and you begin to like the ways of the world that jealousy that is in him begins to flame to envy but he giveth more grace wherefore he saith God resisteth the proud but giveth grace unto the humble submit yourselves this is the verse I want to deal with tonight submit yourselves therefore to God resist the devil and he will flee from you this word submit is a beautiful word I want to keep saying that I want to keep saying that because it's the truth the word submission submit is a most beautiful word in the context of the scripture of the riches that it brings to us this word submit was a great military term to arrange and when said submit it was a a Greek military term that meant to arrange yourself in a military fashion under the command of a leader in other words when it said submit it almost had the the the the meaning of at attention or to understand rank it was a military term to understand rank me read on it means to arrange in a military fashion under a command a leader it means to have a voluntary attitude of giving in there's one thing about submission you cannot be forced into submission no one can force you into submission they can maybe intimidate you or maybe it even embarrass you into an act but only you can volunteer your spirit and if there's a part of us that we must submit to god it's where all error begins and it's where all blessing begins and that is our spirit we have got to submit a range volunteer our spirits to God that's why when God spoke to the Samaritan woman in John chapter 4 and they discussed how to worship or really they discussed where to worship but Jesus went to the heart of worship when he said that God is a spirit and they that worship Him must must not should must it's the only way worship happens they must worship God how in spirit and in truth I am I begin to pray these verses the other day and the Lord as I was praying them he said they that worship me must worship me in spirit and in truth spirit must go before truth spirit must go before the word it is very important that we have our spirit right before the word comes because if our spirits not right then the word goes directly to our intellect and we begin to decide how we feel about what's being spoken through a carnal human intellect but if I've been submitted and I have arranged my life in the presence of God through worship then when the word comes it doesn't come to a carnal mind it doesn't come to somebody that knows more about the the sports stats than they do about the Word of God it doesn't come through somebody that stood for 30 minutes during worship and thought about where the Fisher body or where the deer stands at or where the best sale is on some clothes but it comes to somebody that has been worshiping God arranging God their spirit can you say man submit yourselves therefore to God resist now this word resist resist the devil this word resists means to set against to set against in the Greek writings it means in the middle and in the perfect poor perfect now that's a word poor perfect poor perfect is a word I thought it was a misspelling there but but pluperfect is a word and it literally means to do something before to set in the middle to do something before that sets in the middle and I begin to read this and I understood that at the very moment that I submit myself to God I am automatically resisting the enemy I am automatically doing it's not it - things are happening when my face is toward God and I'm so I'm submitting my spirit to God there's more than just this going on there's also something a wall that is being built a resistance against the devil so submission plays a big role in our spiritual victory because the more I submit to God the more I automatically am resisting the devil but you can't resist the devil alone you can't you can't not have a worship life a prayer life a praise live a spiritual life and sit around and rebuke the devil he'll never get victory that way your victory only comes when you submit yourself to God and you automatically are resisting the devil the same moment I live my spirit before God's presence I automatically am resisting the evil one your resistance against God is only as strong as your submission to God it's only as strong as your submission to God submission is a beautiful word submission is a word that needs a revival in the Apostolic Church in 1st Corinthians chapter 16 and verse number 15 some interesting scriptures MO read 1st Corinthians 16 verse 15 I beseech you brethren you know the house of stephanas that it is the firstfruits of a care and that they have addicted themselves to the ministry of the saints man thing about that they are Saints addicts they have addicted themselves to the Saints they have they are a you've heard of drug addicts they're Saints addicts this family here have addicted themselves to the ministry of the Saints that you next verse that you submit yourselves unto such Paul said I want you to line your life up to those that have addicted themselves to the Ministry of the saints you see show me your fellowship I'll show you your spiritual condition it's been said to younger people been said to younger people show me your friends I'll show you your future I can say to church people you show me your fellowship and I can show you your level of the three you fellowship with cold Christians you're going to become a cold Christian you fellowship with gossipers and backwaters and complainers ain't gonna be long you might sit there and say nothing for a while but it won't be it won't be long you've done aligned yourself up with them and it won't be long you'll fall into the same root of ruts that they're falling into but you know what when I want to submit myself or line myself up with somebody I want to line myself up with somebody that's going to help me make it to heaven I've got enough hindrance in my flesh I can hinder myself more than heaven to import some more hindrance so I want to find me some people to submit myself to and align myself with to help me to live for God well in Ephesians chapter 5 in verse number 19 paul says speaking to yourselves in Psalms hymns spiritual songs singing and making melody in your heart to the Lord how beautiful this has been when we gather together and it's an empty building but we've gathered together and it's not a these ladies and men on this stay on this platform are not performance or worshipers and we can get in here and it doesn't take long when we begin to sing the songs of Zion we all begin to get blessed we all begin to feel the power of the Lord and it's Jesus he was there as they it's a brother Kirk and sister Hawkins saying tonight it's Jesus he's there in the good times he's he's there I began to feel the presence of God that everybody in this room had their hands up sister Hannah came and she began to sing about the alabaster box and Emily said that everybody in this building had their hands up or let me go what were we doing we were doing this right here we were speaking to ourselves in Psalms and hymns and spiritual songs singing and making melody in your heart to the Lord giving thanks always for all things under and the father of the name of the Lord Jesus Christ submitting yourselves one to another in the fear of God we are lining ourselves up with each other we're lining ourselves up with each other I need a worshipper in my life so I'm going to line myself up with a worshipper I will worshipers and I want people that are dedicated to God I'm gonna line myself up with them then it comes down this is a beautiful thing it's really beautiful when it's done in God's Way wives submit yourselves unto your own husband's as unto the Lord for the husband is the head of the wife even as the it's Christ as the head of the church and it's the savior of the body therefore as the church is subject unto Christ so let the wives be under their own husband's and everything husbands love your wives even as Christ also loved the church and gave himself for it you know this new modern day look at that man they just said that's old-fashioned if we don't watch it as a church we'll let that philosophy come in to church but you know there's nothing any more beautiful than to marry your two daughters off to god-fearing men there's nothing any any more beautiful than to know when I walk those two daughters down the aisle that I was I was giving them into the hand of men listen not rich men I know better now not rich men it wasn't man my daughter's marrying this God he's going to be able to provide this and that but when I walked him down the aisle it was man I've given I've given Fallon to a god-fearing man I'm giving foul I'm giving Lauren to a god-fearing man because that's that's so beautiful and when when we've got that arranged just right it's easy for that wife to line herself up with that man that's that's that's leading her spiritually that that man that's leading her in the ways of God that man that's doing that so we see the submission with husband and wife our beautiful a home goes when a husband and wife have that beautiful submission in their midst but not only that no not only not only that not only the wife is submitted lined up with the husband but it only works when we have first Corinthians eleven and two now I praise you brethren that you remember listening to Paul Paul this preacher this apostle this pastor now I praise you brethren that you remember me in all things and keep the ordinances as I delivered them to you you see if you're going to successfully live for God you need a pastor in your life that you can submit to that you can line that you can line yourself up with when you come to situations that are not clearly spelled out in the Bible you know you know who you look - I wonder what - pastor thinks about this I wonder what the pastor would have to say about this I'm gonna tell you what a lot of things can get an answer but it simply said I wonder what my pastor would think I wonder I wonder what my pastor's wife would think about this Paul said I I praise you I have praise for you because you remember me in all things you make a decisions you remember me you keep the ordinances as I delivered them in other words what I gave you your skill keeping I don't have to beat you over the head with it ever to Sunday nights out of the month I gave you some ordinances to live by and you're keeping you're keeping them then he says in verse three but I would have you know that the head of every man is Christ what a beautiful thing the head of every man is Christ you see that woman submitting herself to her husband's a beautiful thing because that husband he's submitting himself to his head which is Christ he don't stop there doesn't stop there in 1st Peter chapter 5 verse number 5 likewise you younger we talked about mom and dad tonight we talking about it we talking about church members lining themselves up with those that are addicted and the Bible said submit yourself to them be submitted to them now we got mom and dad mom submitted to her husband her husband is submitted to God it doesn't stop there here's the children but likewise ye younger submit yourselves under the elder yay and all of you be subject one to another and be clothed with humility for God resisteth the proud but giveth grace to the humble I like David gusik of commentary he says on this Peter begins this word of humility to the younger people in contrast to the older people the elders he has just addressed but he soon realizes that it is of application to all this word to be some submissive to one another to be clothed with humility applies to everyone perhaps especially to the young to be clothed that humility humility is demonstrated by submission don't tell me how humble you are if you're not submitted I don't I don't care if you fold your hands and bow your head but be like that fella that got up to testify one night he said I'm just so proud that I'm humble well that revealed that he was not it's not listening you can't talk about being humble until you have a spirit of submission it is the ability to cheerfully put away our own agenda for God's agenda it is when we cheerfully put away our own agenda for God's even if God's agenda is expressed through other people that's right young people today God expresses his agenda through your godly mother and father and God Express since his agenda through your pastor and you have to be trusting enough to say I'm going to put my own agenda aside and I'm going to live from the agenda of my godly mom and dad in my pastor don't be foolish young person I want to do things my way I'm tired of being told what to do I want to do things my way don't be foolish like the young boy that said I'm tired of being told what to do I'm tired of being told when to be home I'm tired of being told when to get up I'm tired of being told to live in my hair I'm tired of being clothed my of being told how to how to dress myself I'm tired of mom and dad in the church I'm going to join the Marines well did he ever have a shot coming his way can I tell you God's agenda is much better than the Marines hey man God's agenda is much better than any any of this said to be clothed with humility to be clothed but pastor Eriksson this word be clothed translates a rare word that refers to a slave putting on an apron before serving in other words be clothed with humility get up and be ready to say you know what I'm a young man and a young woman I'm gonna clothe myself with submission and obedience to my parents and to my pastor who's preaching the Word of God you still with me tonight right still with me submission a beautiful word submission a beautiful word mom dad young person pastor but wait a minute pastor I talked to I talked to I talked to the mothers told you you need to be submitted to your husband's I talked to your husband's and said they need to be submitted to Christ I talked to the children and I said y'all need to be submitted to your parents your pastor but his fast submitted to well you say well obviously God was sure but pastors lead churches pastors they are they are an authority in the church we met Peter first Peter 2 and 13 needs to talk about to the pastors first Peter 2 and 13 to the pastors and the Saints that are under the pastor's submit yourselves are you there first Peter 2:13 I want make sure those of you at home that you're watching this first Peter 2:13 submit yourself to every ordinance of man for the lord's sake whether it be to the king as supreme or unto governors as unto them that are sent by him for the punishment of evildoers or for the praise of them that do well for so is the will of God that with well doing he may put to silence the ignorance of foolish men as free and not using your liberty for a cloak of maliciousness but as servants of God honor all men love the Brotherhood fear that God out of the King servants be subject to your masters with all fear that means respect not only to the good and gentle but also to the forward you know what that means that means that we're subject to our local laws our state laws and our federal laws as Christian people we are to submit line our selves up with our local laws our state laws and our federal law I'm the line myself up with them to line myself up within do you know that Jesus when he was born in Bethlehem came to Rome Rome was in control do you know that Rome promoted abortion do you know that they believed that that a baby in the womb and I don't like calling the fetus because I believe that's a trick of the devil to get us to dehumanize that a baby in the womb that you could keep it up for so many weeks keep it up to so many weeks if if they knew it was a it was a male you talk about sexes if they knew it was a male they kept it but if they knew it was a female they could abort it now back then they didn't have abortion clinics that you would go to and in the pregnancy history records that the woman would give birth to the child and that the child it was nothing uncommon to see a heap of discarded infants on a trash pile waiting to be picked up and carried away the Roman government the Roman government of Jesus day of Jesus day promoted homosexuality many of the leaders in the Roman Empire were homosexuals they promoted it their laws promoted sound familiar their laws promoted it they promoted abortion Jesus when he was here guarding flesh they promoted abortion that promoted homosexuality immorality as a matter of fact it was according to historians it was a rare thing to find a male and female marry well they came to Jesus someday you know I think that he would be a good one to ask how he felt about the Roman Empire so they come to Jesus one day in Matthew 22 17 and they said tell us therefore what thinkest thou is it lawful to give tribute unto Caesar or not in other words we won't know what you got to say about the government your Jesus we want to know what you've got to say about the government but Jesus perceived their wickedness and said why tim-ki me you hypocrites show me the tribute money nice to make you me stop there and take a little thought I got on my mind I submit to you that a lot of these people that are anti-government rebellious are not subject to the church either they're not subject some of these people that are standing up against our government today and getting in the headlines who's your pastor if you tell me who you pastor is who's his pastor what group have you aligned yourself with what what group have you submitted yourself to he said you're hypocrites he said show me tribute money and they brought him and they brought unto him a penny and he saith unto them whose image is whose image whose is this image and superscription they say unto Him Caesars then saith he unto them revolt against Caesar stand up against Caesar stand in the front of your temple and wave your gold pieces and tell Caesar you're not bringing these down to him no that's not what he said he said render therefore unto Caesar the things which are Caesar's and unto God the things which are gods he said I'll tell you what you do this is G this now he said I know that they're aborting babies and I know that they're making laws that are godless but you've got to learn how to work in this system because what a godless system needs is an apostolic church that has the favor of the government an apostolic church that shown itself in line with the government you see this coded 19 stirred up a lot of conspiracy and I've never heard the likes of foolishness that people's calling faith when if they told us we can't worship when did they tell us we can't worship when did they say that that you can't do and you can't worship there's a pandemic going on for the love of God this world has got an invisible enemy a killer COBIT 19 it's a killer and it's transmitted from person to person and all the government's asking the church to do is to be a part of the cure and not a part of the problem oh what a beautiful day for the church to show itself to its local officials our mayor our city officials when when we want to do something outside here and in the word was simply you know we would rather you not do it they didn't have to post a law they didn't have to get together and say a law went when when when our magistrates say we would rather you not do it that was enough for me they've not said we can't have Church they've not said they have just said for a time would you help us be part would you help us be part of the cure I submit to you the last month I believe it was brother Anthony McCool that put this on social media he said the church isn't being persecuted were simply being inconvenienced we're not being persecuted there's nobody stopping us now now let's stop here for a moment now if they said let the local state or federal do not preach out of the Bible again I'm going to jail folks I'm going to jail if they say don't praise the name of Jesus don't mention the name of Jesus find me a sail because I'm going to jail you say wait a minute you're contradicting yourself no no I'm not we obey our government when it is asking us to do things for our betterment and for the betterment of others but should we fall into Acts chapter five verse number 28 where it says they said under the Peter in the in the disciples the Apostles did not we straightly command you that you should not teach in this name and behold you have filled Jerusalem with your doctrine to the intent to bring this man's blood upon us then Peter and the other apostles answered and said we ought to obey God rather than man and if they ever make a little locally or state or federal that says we can't read from our Bible I'm breaking that law if they ever make a law that we keep call on the name of Jesus we can't pray we can't call on his name I'm breaking that law if they ever make a law that we can't witness I'm breaking that law I'm gonna end up like Daniel in the lion's den because they made a law that he could not pray but Daniel went ahead and prayed anyway because it was a law against his God come on now come on now understand something understand something we're being asked as pastors I I think we've missed a I think we've missed a golden opportunity of a pastor to show our people that were subject to somebody to we're subject where we are we are subject to somebody submission it's a beautiful word well Romans 13:1 think seven you read that on your own time please but it goes ahead and tells us that God gave us our government God gave us our government you know our government is a lot like Moses you know when Moses was dividing the Red Sea he was the greatest thing in the world but when they got out there and needed some food they wanted to stone him they won't they won't kill you know our governments the greatest thing in the world when they go over and keep terrorists from coming in our backdoor again when they go over and take care of the enemies of 9/11 Oh how how we we like that government that all stands up for our I you know puts the fights on foreign soil so that we can we can live here in America free sometimes that same government is going to inconvenience us and say we'd like for you to quarantine yourself we'd like for you have social distancing we we would like for yourself refrain from having meetings of over ten people in the place still till we get this thing under control I think it's a beautiful thing huh I believe I told you the word Christ is meant platform stage I believe a year from now when our local state and federal officials look down upon first Apostolic Church they're gonna say those were law-abiding people those were people that that that that cooperated with us during this time well let me tell you before I closed tonight let me tell you about an experience that I had Monday I was praying I was right over here I I believe I had made all of my journeys up and down the pews and I was over here and I was praying for that invisible enemy of the souls of men and women I was praying about rebellion and I began to plead with God and and I remember closing my eyes brother Noland and I was asking God because people can smokescreen things oh I left the church because all the music was too loud oh I left the church because I didn't agree with how the money was spent I left the church because they asked us to do a certain thing to be able to sing in the choir I left the church I believe you ought to be able to dress anyway y'all left and at the heart of the root of all this church is one acre that grows a heart that's not submitted to God I was right over here when I begin to pray and I'm going to read the verses in Luke 7 36 I when I say I had this experience with the Lord Luke 7 36 I I don't please I say that very humble eat or not I don't want anybody to think that I'm some great spiritual one but I begin to pray Luke 7 36 and one of the Pharisees desired him that he would eat with him he went into the Pharisees house and set down to me behold a woman in the city which was a sinner when she knew that Jesus said it meet in the Pharisees house brought an alabaster box of ointment and stood his feet behind him worshipping and weeping excuse me and began to wash his feet with tears and did wipe them with the hairs of her head kissed his feet and anointed them with the ointment now when the Pharisee which had bidden him saw it he spake within himself saying this man if he were a prophet would have known who and what manner of woman this is that touch of him for she is a sinner jesus answering said unto him Simon I have some what to say unto thee and he said master say on there was a certain creditor which had two debtors the one owed five hundred Pence and the other fifty and when they had nothing to pay he frankly forgave them both tell me therefore which of them will love him most Simon answered and said I suppose that he to whom he forgave most and he said unto Him thou has rightly judged and he turned the woman and said unto Simon see us now this woman I entered into that house thou gave us me no water for my feet but she had washed my feet with her tears and wiped them with the hairs of her head thou gave us me no kiss but this woman since the time I came in have not ceased to kiss my feet my head with oil now does not anoint but this woman hath anointed my feet with ointment before I say unto thee her sins which are many are forgiven for she loved much but to whom little is forgiven the same Levesque little and he said unto her thy sins are forgiven and they that said it meet with him begin to say within themselves who is this that forgive his sins also he set up under the woman thy faith have saved thee going peace I was right over here and closed my eyes and I was pray and I open
