oh thank God thank God thank God would you stand with me right now two thousand years ago a Manger was made famous because there was no room for him where he should be and so there was room in a Manger and I believe that you and I this morning are making room or making room for him with praise and worship I simply no what people do I don't know how people exist I don't know how people cope with life maybe I'm a different creature but I don't know how people COPE in life that doesn't realize the power of Prayer can I tell you prayer is the greatest sedative that a child of God can partake of prayer when you really know how to call on God in simple childlike faith help me Lord help Lord I need your help and when burdens get unbearable thank God we can come to him in a time of prayer and somehow someway at Great sedative of Prayer seems to lay its hand upon our shoulders and says to a coral salyards this morning who's in the process of of a a heart transplant and getting on a list and will one become available and all and on it goes somehow brother Carl we can come in the atmosphere of prayer and just say Jesus I'm yours this is yours and somehow in the midst of it all puts his hand of calming upon us sister boyet sent me a request last night her six week old grandson Jacob has got RSV and had to be taken to the emergency room let's pray you have a request today would you simply make it known by the lifting of your hand right now just the lifting of your hand pray with me Father we come before you today God I come before you today Lord on behalf of all the needs of this local congregation Lord I come before you today God and I ask you Lord to touch sister Lyndon Thompson today God I ask for your spirit your presence your power to be upon her God I ask you Lord and continue to ask you to touch our dear brother Carl salyards today and Lord we know that you're well able God to give him a brand new heart without a heart transplant God we bring our need Lord we bring God this situation Lord to you today God we know that by your stripes that we have healing God that's been purchased Lord I pray for Jacob this morning I pray for every hand that's lifted today God pray for those that are here today that God that are walking a dark Valley in their life and they need your touch Lord I pray for them right now and now God I pray over the ultimate need the greatest the most important the most urgent need God lord I pray over Souls that are not ready to meet you Lord I pray God over our prodigals I pray Lord over our loved ones God that have never been born again Lord I pray over our city of which we are responsible for I pray over our neighborhoods I pray God for our neighbors today oh God help us to reach our lost and dying Blunt County Lord help us to reach o God this city for you and Lord we'll give you praise and we'll give you honor in Jesus mighty name we pray amen and amen Give the Lord a hand to praise before you seated right now you may be seated God bless you this morning and again I want to say as we are feasting on this day of Merry Christmas and the day that we celebrate the birth of the Lord Jesus Christ when God when God became a man and God gave us the greatest gift amen he great gave us the greatest gift of Salvation and uh akin to that we give gifts to one another we give gifts to loved ones and I believe that this year I have received I'm going to show off one of my gifts I got today it's the greatest gift that that that that I've got and um and I know you said well Carpenter we can give you this give well I'm just sad to say this one tops it all all right this is a device that can translate over 400 languages and I speak into it and I can dial up what language it is and uh I can speak into it brother Elijah and it'll translate if I'm speaking Spanish or let's see here um Familia that's it that just feels good I can't help it I said all of our Apostolic brothers and sisters in Chile We Are Family let's go foreign I'm telling them we need to find our hotel and I need a place to eat right now and when I'm in Germany I would say I love all my brothers and sisters of the apostolic faith in Germany and then I love the Chinese language they are beautiful people amen 400 of these things right here I'm just going to have a blast amen it's going to have a blast I won't be able to witness on an airplane because I speak when I speak it in English here when they respond to me this will translate to them in their language then they speak back at this other end here and it translates back to me in English so um Erickson thank you all so very very much for my gift would you come and get it and and take real good care of it it's 400 can you imagine that there's four don't you know if the Apostle Paul was alive today he'd have one of these really seriously if the Apostle Paul was alive today he would have one I'm glad to have one thank you for that gift amen God is good is any church because God is good if you have your Bibles and would stand with me and I'm not only let me brag on an equal gift today I'm preaching out of a brand new Bible this morning and given to me by my son-in-law brother Zach Hammond and so I'm preaching out of a brand new Bible today the Eternal Word of God The Book of Matthew chapter 4 and verse number 12 Matthew chapter 4 and verse number 12. when you found it in your Bible or you see it on the screen Say Amen now when Jesus had heard that John was cast into prison he departed into Galilee and leaving Nazareth he came and dwelt in Capernaum which is upon the Seacoast in the borders of zebulun and nephotelum that it might be fulfilled which was spoken by Isaiah the prophet saying the land of zebulun and the land of nepotillum by the way of the sea Beyond Jordan Galilee of the Gentiles the people which sat in darkness saw great light and to them which sat in the region of the shadow of death light is sprung up from that time Jesus began to preach and to say repent for the Kingdom of Heaven is at hand for a few moments today for this Christmas message I want to minister to you on the subject a seat in the dark a seat in the dark precious God today thank you for your life-changing word Lord I ask you this morning that as I Minister this word that you would let your spirit be upon this word and you would reach the hearts of the minds and the lives of anyone here that may be tormented God you would reach the hearts and the minds of anyone here Lord that's not yet been born again of water and spirit Lord Jesus use my feeble efforts today to change a life in this place in Jesus mighty name we pray amen and amen let's give the Lord a hand of Praise before receding a seat in a dark place a seat in the dark place where if I can do you all have and I I have I've overlooked it this morning I got so excited about my gift I forgot to show you we have a video clip of the wonderful Refugee children in Poland opening up their presence and I know I might have caught everybody off guard upstairs but could we play that I know we've got several uh we have got we have got several pictures uh here uh here they go no sound but I think you can see the that's our missionary that's his wife that wonderful these are children that have been displaced because of the war in Ukraine children that over a year ago were playing in their own backyard had their own Christmas tree up was in their in their own house but because of the war there in Ukraine they're now living in a hotel there they're missionaries uh are greeting us today and we may play this again tonight when we have when we have the sound to it but aren't you thankful to be a part of that just to be a part to be a part of what god of what God is what God is doing a seat in the dark a seat in the dark what would make this and qualify this is a Christmas message today is a simple phrase that we found that we found written that we found written in chapter 4 and verse number 14 when it says that it might be fulfilled which was spoken by Isaiah the prophet we understand that many times this phrase is used at the directions of Jesus at his behavior things he did places he went to places he lived they would have a small Clause there that would simply say this he did to fulfill what was spoke what was spoken by one of the prophets his hometown of Nazareth had rejected him and had tried to cast him down a hillside it was there that Jesus left that Jesus left Nazareth and went into a town called Capernaum Capernaum is a gentile city as a matter of fact as I read it's the land when the prophecy came forth the land of zebulun in the land of nephotella by the way of the sea but then it tells in verse 16 of which I want to take out of this verse and use it for my thought today he went to this region he went to this place because the Bible simply says in verse 16 the people which sat in darkness saw great light and them which sat in the region of the shadow of death light has sprung up and so I begin to understand that that word set is a continual way of living it was just simply a way of life they set in the region of Darkness now what is meant by Darkness here we understand that it is alluding to and meaning the evil that is in the world that was in their world at that time and of course you and I know that it's got none the better but is rather has grown worse but they said they lived they dwelt in this region of Darkness I came across a little a a little thing that got my attention it's called it's it's a small fish off the coast of Mexico this fish goes by many names but its most common name it is called the blind Cave Fish the blind Cave Fish It is believed that some years ago that a small school of fish somehow found their way into the caves along the Mexico Shoreline and either unable to find their way out or Desiring the darkness of the cave had over time they stayed there they stayed in a in an atmosphere of total complete darkness over time they would notice as they studied these blind Cave Fish they would they would discover that over time skin had grown over the eyes of the fish because there was no light there the fish had absolutely no color no color at all normally fish off the shore of Mexico are beautiful in their colors and their design but not these fish because there is no light there is no color of them at all not only that as time has went on they begin to study these blind Cave Fish and they find that they are losing what little bone structure what little bone structure they have they are losing that they are now blind because skin now grows over their eyes they are they are colorless they are not an attractive fish people don't buy these to put in an aquarium they're not beautiful they're they're just simply blah they're without life or the without the color of life and they have no bones it is a mystery sister Carpenter it is an absolute mystery why this fish dwells here there are other fish that are just like it that live in the light and that are sprinkled with some of the most beautiful color that is imaginable people do buy these small fish to put in their Aquarium we don't know why it is a mystery among scientists that has studied this so I believe today that I can make this bold statement God never created us to dwell in the Darkness God never do God never God never created any of us to sit in the seat of Darkness we understand in Genesis chapter 1 and verse number one if you would go there with me in the beginning God created the Heaven and the Earth and the Earth was without form and void and darkness was upon the face of the deep the spirit of God moved upon the face of the waters brothers and sisters verse 2 is isn't only describing physical Darkness absence of light but this is a darkness of the presence and the power the presence and the power of the Fallen Angels at their Rebellion they became demons and they became evil spirits at one time Lucifer and the innumerable number of angels that fell with him in Rebellion at one time they had been the most beautiful the most beautiful created beings that the masterful God could create they were beautiful in Talent they were beautiful in appearance until that time that they rose up in Rebellion and this spiritual Rebellion turned beings that lived into evil beings I believe it is noteworthy that if you spell the word live l-i-v-e backwards it spells evil and if you spell the word lived backwards it spells the word devil now and simplistic as that could be that's exactly what happened when Satan reared his ugly head of rebellion against God a creature that once lived in an unimaginable light now lives in an unimaginable Darkness it was there Jesus refers to it Jesus refers to this in Luke 10 18 when he describes Satan being cast out of heaven he says he said unto them I beheld Satan as lightning fall from Heaven when Satan reared his head of rebellion out of order against the God of Light God took him and placed him outside of light and God created a place that was suitable that was suitable for him we understand in Job chapter 38 in verse number 4 God is telling job about creation and he says to job where were you when I laid the foundations of the earth declare if thou Hast understanding who hath laid the measures thereof if thou know us or who has stretched the line upon it whereupon are the foundations thereof fastened and who laid the Cornerstone thereon when the morning Stars sang together and the sons of God shouted for Joy God is telling job this was the scene at creation when I began to create the Angelic host begin to rejoice and begin to praise me when I begin to to create the Earth here now you must understand as you look back at Genesis 1 and 1 with me in the beginning God created the Heaven and the Earth and the Earth was without form and void Darkness was upon the face of the deep and the spirit of God moved upon the face of the waters now I want you to follow very closely here because when when God cast Satan and the angels Out of Heaven he created a place for them that was suitable he created a place for them that spoke of their sins he created a place of Darkness because evil would become known as Darkness we often when describing someone that is evil it would be say they have a dark side we describe and the Bible describes sin the Bible describes sin as Darkness so God creates this Earth God creates this Earth it's without form it's void it's empty and there is where darkness is upon the face of the deep but I want you to notice something with me today I want you to notice something maybe it'll help us all to Value the preaching and teaching of the word he will not hear God speak and say Let There Be Earth let there be let there be without form and without void that interest is that interested me as I study that God doesn't speak until God says let there be light that's when God spoke and as I prayerfully mold this over study this out I have come up with this conclusion about why there is no speaking when God created the Earth without form and void because God was making a place for the unredeemable to live and to that which God will not redeem God has no word for the word of God is our Saving Grace to have the word of God preached to us is the greatest opportunity of a life change that a man or a woman could ever have today is that a God would love us enough to say there will come a man he will be redeemable I will speak because that man will be redeemable I'm glad that God speaks to us today you may be here this morning on this Christmas morning and you may be a million miles from God but you're beginning to feel the heartbeat of God you're beginning to feel a God speaking to you right now do you know why you are because you are loved and you are redeemable but to Satan he is not redeemable and therefore Satan receives no word he receives absolutely no word from God now I'm here today I'm not here to to be a downer on this day of festivity but I want you to know why he came into this world he came into this world because of Darkness he came to our world because we live in a very dark world how dark is it in the United States alone last year the last 12 months the last 12 months the CDC estimated that 107 000 649 people overdosed on drugs the past 12 months in the United States of America you want to get a picture of that find needling Stadium packed on any Saturday afternoon and that's how many people lost their lives to drug overdoses into in the last 12 months the Journal of emergency medicine also reveals that New Year's Day Holiday will be the highest number of suicide attempts in our world or in the United States the United States over over the past 12 months the United States had 46 000 suicide deaths in the last 12 months also officers just this is just one of many and barely got the headlines at our Southern border recently 2.2 tons of Narcotics were confiscated and that story almost didn't get any kind of publicity at all because it's just a common thing of a massive amount of drugs that are coming across our Southern border we are living in Dark Times Church we are living in Dark Times and let us not forget in the midst of dinners in the midst of Celebration that Jesus Christ came to this earth so that he could be a light in the midst in the midst of Darkness the first time that light and darkness collided was in Creation in creation when darkness ruled the domain of the formless Void Earth it was there that God said let there be light and light appeared and the light notified the darkness the light notified the darkness that I'm here to illuminate the minds of people that set in Darkness I Believe today that when Jesus was rejected in his own Hometown that he made his way to a region to fulfill scripture because in Scripture it says those that were in nepotalum and those that were in zebulun they set in great Darkness but God has given them God has given them great light brothers and sisters today I come to you on this Christmas morning to tell you and I that we have got our work cut out for us because God has given us the gift of life and the gift of light let's not waste it let's let a dark and a god World know in this season that there is hope for them that they can be redeemed that they are loved they don't have to take the drugs they don't have to commit suicide they don't have to go down this road there is great light somebody say his name with me today his name is Jesus he came to Capernaum he came to this place to where people sat in darkness he came to this place of the region of death he came to families that had brother after sister after Mother after father that had OD'd he came among people that knew suicide ran rampant in their families he came among those that were trying to find life in the midst of darkness and it was there in Capernaum it was there in Capernaum that he began to preach and the house got full and they tore the roof off of the house to get the man down to be healed that happened at Capernaum I could tell you of all scriptures today he did this in Capernaum he walked into a synagogue in Capernaum and when he walked into a synagogue there was a man in the synagogue the place the place of worship of all places the place of worship there's a man that's possessed by a devil and when Jesus walks into that synagogue this the Devils begin to cry out and Jesus casts the evil spirit out can I tell you today that not only is darkness in drugs not only is darkness in suicide but I want you to know that Darkness can dwell in man-made religion great Darkness can be at places you listen you don't just simply have to be lost by drugs you don't simply have to be lost by Suicide you can be lost in a man-made religious organization where man puts his word above the word of God but I'm glad the Bible says that the word made flesh walked into that synagogue and when the word made flesh walked into that synagogue the darkness cried out but the light was greater than the darkness that happened in and that happened in pernium I want you to hear me this morning and hear me well the light of God is greater than the darkness that you're in right now I don't care how dark your your lot your life is right now the light of God is greater than your Darkness I don't care how hopeless you feel I don't care how you've written your life off you've written things about your life off you listen to me on this Christmas morning God's light is greater than the devil's Darkness the Bible said in him was light and the light was the life of man and the light shineth in darkness we've come to serve notice on the darkness of our region Blount County we've come to serve notice on the region of our Darkness Blunt County we've come to certain notice on the region of Darkness the Bible said the light shineth in the darkness and the Darkness comprehended it not the enemy's Darkness cannot overcome the light of God's presence it's life-changing it's joy unspeakable it's the hope of The Sinner it's the anchor of our soul come on on this Christmas morning can you just give him some praise right now it's the light it's the light it's the light it's the light it's the light it's the light it's the light it's the light it's the light second Corinthians chapter 4 and verse number three listen to the Apostle Paul listen to the Apostle Paul set up on the edge of your seat and listen to it with all your might second Corinthians 4 and 3 but if our gospel be hid it is hid to them that are lost in whom the god notice it's a little G of this world hath blinded the minds of them which believed not lest the light of the Glorious gospel of Christ who is the image of God should shine upon them for we preach not ourselves but Christ Jesus the Lord and ourselves your service for Jesus sake for God look at the parallel here look at the comparison for God who commanded the light to shine out of Darkness hath shined in our hearts to give the light of the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Jesus Christ what was Paul saying Paul says do you remember creation the Earth was domain of the devil it was without form it was void it was empty but all of a sudden God said let there be light and when God said let there be light the light and darkness was separated and then the next day the water came into play he separated the water from the Earth to the water above the Earth and he created an atmosphere on the second day and it had to do with water and remember the third day on the third day let's Seas gathered together and the Earth gave a resurrection of trees and plants don't you see the Plan of Salvation so simple there on the first day God walks into your life with preaching through the word of God and says you can have hope you can have a new life you can turn your life around through Jesus Christ we can do all things light confronts Darkness light confronts hopelessness the word the devil is an unredeemable he gets no word but you were made in the image and the likeness of God and to you there is given a word let there be light come on give him some Praise on this Christmas Sunday morning oh my God my God let there be light to the man to the woman who is contemplated you had the first thought of it and now you're having more thoughts of it and you're having more thoughts of it if not suicide give me some medicine medicate me give me some this give me some of that I gotta escape the pain to you I preach today to you I confront the darkness not by my name but by his name and to you I say you are redeemable you are not damaged Beyond repair you are not damaged beyond the ability for God to help to you today I preach light to you today I preach hope to you today I tell you the problem with my life and your life is sin and he took care of sin and the next step you need to take is in the water if you understand today that you got to get your sins remitted we have warm water in a change of clothes and on the second day there can be the water of your life and the water remits and removes your sins through the name of Jesus Christ and then the third day comes when there is a resurrection of things you never knew was in that void empty dull light God can grow some things out of you that you never dream you are going to laugh again you are going to smile again you are going to live again you are going to have purpose again God's going to blow your mind because there's things in you that you didn't know were even there Paul uses it Paul uses it Paul uses it he uses to say now now the gospel that you have is that same creative word it brings light to a dark room it brings water to a life that needs to be cleansed and it brings spirit to a life that needs Resurrection Paul uses it here I want to end today and our musicians would come I want to end today with this God is in the light life-changing business Acts chapter 16 verse 22 the story is Paul and Silas two preachers have been beaten and been cast into the prison can I tell you can I tell you today the enemy's doing everything he can to silence the preacher in your life has nothing to do with his personality of you liking him or not liking him the enemy knows the only way he's going to have he's going to have control in your life is to silence the word in your life he's got to silence the word he's got to silence the word he wants you sitting in the seat of Darkness he wants you sitting in the region of the shadow of death he has to silence the word in you he has to silence the word same thing happened here in the book of Acts happened here in the book of Acts Paul and Silas were preaching lives were being changed they took them the religious system did the magistrates in verse 22 the magistrates rose up together against them and the magistrates ran off their clothes and commanded to beat them and when they had laid many stripes upon them they cast them into prison charging the Jailer to keep them safely the Jailer everybody say the jailer the Jailer who having received such a charge thrust them into the inner prison made their feet fast in the stocks at midnight Paul and Silas prayed saying Praises unto God prisoners are come on church can I tell you today I know many of us have been going through trials but don't let the trial get your praise as a prisoner you're a praiser not a prisoner I may be having some problems but I'm not a prisoner I said I may be having some issues but I'm not a prisoner and I may have problems but I still got to be a praiser you know why I got to be appraiser because some prisoners need to hear me praising God the prisoners heard them and at midnight Paul and Silas prayed and sang Praises unto God and the prisoners heard them suddenly there was a great earthquake so that the foundation of the prison was shaken immediately all the doors were open and everyone's bands were loose The Keeper of the prison The Keeper of the prison the jailer Awakening out of his sleep seeing the prison doors open he drew out his sword and would have killed himself supposing that the prisoners had fled can you see how hopeless this man is he understands the Roman law the Roman law says you let a prisoner escape you pay for it with your own life he wakes up to prison doors open and prisoners walking around their chains have come loose from the walls he walks out and he sees these prisoners just walking around and he just grabs a sword he's about to become one of these numbers I talked to you about he's about to take his life but Paul look at verse 28. but Paul cried with a loud voice do thyself no harm for we are all here you know what 46 000 people needed somebody with a loud voice saying you don't have to do that December 31st and January 1st sister Paula is days away if any of us know anybody that's suffering with depression if anybody in this room knows anybody that may fit the the the path of someone that would take their life for God's sake don't talk about it at their funeral don't talk about it days later it's time to lift up your voice and tell them don't do yourself any harm don't hurt yourself don't hurt yourself we are here and don't hurt yourself we're all here verse 29 then oh my look at verse 29 then he called for a what he called for a what and sprang in and came trembling fell down before Paul and Silas look at this with me if your life is messed up today you got to trust somebody even though you're in the dark you got to trust a voice even though you're in the dark even though you're sitting here today and this is the last kind of message you thought you would hear on this Christmas morning but God began to deal with my heart you're shedding in the seat of Darkness over here over here Jesus Is The Answer Jesus Is The Answer Jesus Is The Answer speak to him cry out to him lift up your hands come to the altar come to the altar it's this way it's over this way you don't have to take your life you don't have to live another day without Joy it's over here it's over here it's over here foreign ER said I need some light the Jailer said I need some light he got the light and he came and he fell before Paul and Silas now he don't know what God did this said in verse 30. he shares what must God do to be saved this man's not asking about Jesus he's asking about Hope help preacher preacher what do I need to do my life is a living hell my life gets dark out here my life is a living hell preacher what do I need to do believe on the Lord Jesus Christ and you shall be saved and your house and they speak unto him the word of the Lord and to all that were in their house wait a minute what's the word got to do with this the word is light the word is like the word what must I do to be saved you've got to believe that's a person you've got to believe upon the Lord Jesus Christ that's the direction but he didn't stop there he spoke to them the word of God do you know why do you know why people have a hard time studying their Bible it's not that the Bible is not interested it's that there's a domain of Darkness that wants to do everything it can to keep your nose out of that Bible he doesn't want you to know that you can repent he doesn't want you to know that you can be baptized he doesn't want you to know that you can receive the gift of the Holy Ghost the greatest gift that's ever ever been given stay out of that book he's spoken to them the word of God Psalms 119 130 the entrance of Thy word giveth light it giveth understanding unto the simple Psalms 34 8 Psalms 34 8 oh taste and see that the Lord is good blessed is the man that trusteth in him they set him down Paul and Silas set the Jailer down and they begin to speak unto him the word of the Lord verse 33 of the same chapter and he took them that same hour of the night and washed their stripes and was baptized he and all of his house straightway and when he had brought them into his house he set meat before them and rejoiced this is the same man I hope you're hearing this today this is the same man that less than an hour ago pulled out a sword and was going to commit suicide less than an hour later that same man is not reaching for a sword but he's relifting his hands up to God and he's praising God and he's worshiping God because I'm not I'm not sitting in the seat of Darkness any longer would you stand with me today oh bless the name of Jesus oh bless the name of Jesus oh bless the name of Jesus oh bless the name of Jesus oh bless the name of Jesus I know today that we are celebrating but there would be no greater celebration in God's eyes than to someone that will see their need of the light to come walking down the aisle and to stay to kneel in the Altar and begin to call out upon the name that is above every name the wonderful matchless life-changing name of Jesus Christ can we pray right now can we pray all over this room right now can we pray all over this room right now come on out can we pray all over this room right now the name of Jesus God oh pray Church in the name of Jesus God foreign sheet of Darkness that you stumbled into a Sunday morning Christmas message and that message says there's light there's light There's Hope would you come right now kill the person beside you I'd like to get out of my seat I'd like to go down to the Altar and to call on the name of Jesus I'd like to call on the name of Jesus right now praise God praise God Moon Lord in the name of Jesus Christ moving still proving peace foreign yourself anything anything oh no no no no no no no no no no no no it is don't prove it is alive he's alive foreign to my friends before my day my soul now you're freedom is Jesus Christ say I need a rescue me come on Darkness no I don't think there'd be a better way to end our service than what a sound of children that have seen the light I don't believe that'd be a better way but to end with the sound of the children oh that has received that life almighty God Mighty God Mighty God Mighty God hallelujah hallelujah hallelujah thank God for the light thank God for the light thank God for the light thank God for the life oh you know I really hadn't thought about it until they started singing this morning but I imagine that old cave Lazarus was in was a dark old cave I imagine there's a dark okay but Jeter but oh friend he heard somebody call his name in a dark old cave he came back to life you know I'm believing this morning I'm believing this morning that somebody in your cave has heard God's voice and I believe him that a spark of faith and enthusiasm has touched you and that you're not going to give up and you're not going to be a statistic you're not going to be any of those things you're going to have the light of God dwelling in you and not only in you for you but you're going to have it
