if you have your bibles i want you to turn with me to the book of judges chapter number 17 and verse 6 is where we'll begin but before we do read our text i want us to be much in prayer for sister tracy hearst uh her father charlie passed away and if i'm if i am seeing right i i tracy tracy i think your brother's with us today it's so good to see him i hate to see him under these circumstances but it is good to see you today sir charlie charlie was here last sunday and easter sunday and worshiped the lord with us and charlie suffered a massive heart attack and passed away on friday and let's remember that family that the peace of god the comfort of god will will be upon them and touch them in this dark hour that that they're going through amen our guests that are here this morning our guest uh i met a i met a wonderful little couple uh briefly friends of the mcbrooms and it's so good always good to see new faces here at first apostolic church if you are a guest with us today the main thing we want you to feel is the wonderful presence of god we want you to feel the wonderful presence of god and we want you to feel at home let's give our guests a great big apostolic welcome this morning thank you so much thank you so much all of our guests this is your first time to be at first apostolic church we welcome you this morning so glad that you would choose this place for your place of worship but say i'm not only thankful that our guests have come now don't get me wrong i'm not only thankful that i'm that our guests have come but i'm so thankful that the church just so faithfully shows up sunday after wednesday after sunday after wednesday they show up to the house of god and i thank you for loving the lord i thank you for loving the lord and coming to the house coming to the house of god judges chapter 17 and verse number six in those days there was no king in israel but every man did that which was right in his own eyes i'm going to read a few more verses of scripture but i want to pray and let you be seated today if you if you if you're here today if you're here today and i guess the only way you'd know this is to be able to relate to it and you just need the lord to speak to you today you need it's not you just want the lord to speak to you today you've got a situation a circumstance and you want the lord to speak to you today i want you to put your bible down and just pray with me right now father i love you father i thank you lord your word is a lamp and a light to our pathway lord your word is the most valuable thing that we have lord god the pages of your word the record of your word without your word god we would not know of your existence god without your word lord we would not know how you work and god what you want to do and god without your word we wouldn't know how good that you are without your word god in the dark times we we wouldn't know that you said there would be dark times lord i just ask you today father that you would speak to my heart speak to the hearts of the people lord that through this message today that someone will receive a light of direction in jesus name we pray amen you may be seated thank you for standing judges chapter 18 and verse number one judges chapter 17 and six you'll think we're reading it over again judges chapter 18 and 1. in those days there was no king in israel in those days there was no king in israel judges chapter 19 and 1 and it came to pass in those days when there was no king in israel that there was a certain levite sojourning on the side of mount ephraim let's go to let's go to the last verse in the book of judges the very last verse in the book of judges judges 21 verse 25 judges 21 now this is the very last verse i mean uh i would say that if you were trying to find the importance we know they're all important but we would say the first verse of a chapter of a book and the last verse would definitely be key verses to look at the very last verse in judges 21 25 in those days there was no king in israel every man did that which was right in his own eyes four times four times in the book of judges does it have almost a ditto of a verse in those days in those days i believe that we can relate to that a little bit today because i believe we're all witnessing right now and saying man i've never seen times like they are now i've never seen times i want to minister this morning something i feel very led to do and i want to minister on the divine order of my life the divine order of my life um let me go ahead i want to brag on the lord just for a moment there is no life they can compare to the life of living for god there's not another life that can compare you don't don't even don't even don't even belittle jesus by putting something up a comparison there's nothing that you can compare him to he is so good to us that he is so good he is so good to us he gave us a scripture in ii samuel that simply just said as for god his way is perfect as for god his way is perfect he let us know a little bit about his nature and the nature of the enemy when he said in john 10 10 the thief comes to steal kill and destroy but i've come that you might have life anything outside of jesus wants to take from you it's what a thief does matter of fact what a thief does he he takes what doesn't belong to him my peace does not belong to him my joy does not belong to him my wholeness of mine my family my children does not belong to him he is a thief he comes the first time that the word worship is mentioned in the bible the very first time that the word worship is mentioned in the bible because there are three areas that must have order our lives our church our society there's three things that we see as never before that can get out of order our lives our church and society the first time the word worship is mentioned in the bible it is in reference to abraham offering up isaac and it says in genesis 22 and 9 and they came to the place which god had told him of and abraham built an altar there and lay the wood in order now you might just look at that and say now you're straining it you're just really trying to make more of this phrase here well i believe the fact that it says the wood was laid in order is to get our attention because this isn't any ordinary altar this is an altar to jehovah this is this isn't any ordinary worship this is worship to god and so god would allow the word order order didn't just lay the wood down didn't just lay the wood down but he laid the wood down in order you see my personal spiritual sanity depends upon my personal alter that i have with god i am thankful to have a corporate body together together on a few days out of the week i need him on saturday and people that just kind of get their mind on god on two days they come to church they end up really with lives that are out of order i want to have an altar where the wood is set in order it would be the psalmist next that i would like to bring your attention to in psalms chapter 119 verse 133 listen to the psalmist order my steps in your word lawlessness chaos confusion bondage harm notice what has to go to go before a lion in the tabernacle which the tabernacle represents our corporate worship it's work he says titus for this cause left i then what somebody say it order the things that are wanting order not just anybody can do anything in god's house there's a qualifying there's a qualifying because there is there is an order i remember years ago and when i got there that night the pastor um told me we the way that he was talking i i i felt a little confusion just to be honest with you you'll see it in just a second and i thought i had mistaken because he told me he told me that another brother was preaching that night and so i i said oh i thought i was to start tonight he said oh he said he said you are he said you can preach after him and i thought well that's a little odd he said well he said around here how we do it he said we just gather at church and whoever's got the message comes up i would consider that out of order so in my little overcompetent cocky evangelist that i was i informed the pastor that i would have the message every night for that week order god forgive me paul said to titus he said you need to sit in order there's some things in the church there yes even the apostolic church there's some things there that you need to sit in order not only that they came together to celebrate communion and that got out of order so in first corinthians chapter 11 and verse number 34 first corinthians chapter 11 and verse number 34 communion of eating an unleavened piece of bread and the fruit of the vine turned into a dinner on the grounds homecoming and all kinds of things went on until paul had to set it in order and paul said these words paul said if any man hunger first corinthians 11 34 if any man hunger let him eat at home that you come not together unto condemnation and the rest i will set in order when i come he said till i get there he said if you're hungry eat at home and he was talking about the lord's supper and then in first corinthians 14 and verse number 40 the horrendous of the abuse of tongues the horrendous abuse of tongues paul had to set in order something that was so beautiful speaking in other tongues speaking in another language a god language speaking in tongues tongues and interpretation an extremely edifying thing the bible says they took it into disorder until paul had to say in first corinthians chapter 14 verse 40 let all things let all things be done decently and in what order we see not only is there order in the church there has to be order in my life i've got to have some sort of order in my life i i want to go back now to our book of judges because four times four times in the book of judges four times in the book of judges in those days there was no king in israel and every man did that which was right in their own eyes now let me give some clarity to this the reason don't think of a king like king saul because if you think of a king like king saul then saul had not yet israel had not yet asked for a king at this time so when it says there was no king in israel it means there was no set standard of authority there was nothing that you answered to everything answered to you you never answered to anything you never felt responsible you never feared anything or anyone and so therefore in that day there was no authority in israel and guess what happened every man became his own measuring stick if it was right in his eyes it was right if it was wrong it was wrong and every man did that which was right but as we look through here we see how out of order that it is i don't want my life to be out of order i want order in my life i want this order well i think chapter 17 is going to show you how out of order this way of living would be in chapter 17 verse number 1 and there was a man of mount ephraim whose name was micah and he said unto his mother the 1100 shekels of silver that were taken from thee about which thou cursed and spake of also in my ears behold the silver is with me i took it and his mother said blessed be thou of the lord my son now i want you to understand something don't make a quick judgment on the surface don't make a quick judgment on anything in life on the surface as a matter of fact the most beautiful scripture in the bible simply says this judge no thing before the time there are some things you cannot render a judgment on good or bad you just have to allow it to work out judge no thing before the time now on the surface church this looks like a a young man that stole 1100 pieces of silver from his mother and decided to give it back and oh what an honorable thing to do that's the surface judgment this is not an honorable thing to do because the only reason he gave it back was his mother pronounced a curse on whoever stole the money he didn't give the money back because it was right to give it back he gave it back because he well number one you kind of see the you kind of see it falling apart when he brought the i when he brought it back in verse two and she said blessed be thou the lord my son well she blessed and for a molten image of which the commandments say that we were as long as you continue in your sin you will never have the peace that order can give you order and sin cannot live in the same house where there is no order there will be confusion now look at mama here mama says oh i'm glad that you gave it back because i had it i intended to take it and to have an image a molten image made and therefore i will give it back to you verse 4. yet he restored the money into his mother and his mother took 200 shekels of silver and gave them to the founder who made thereof a graven image in a molten image and they were in the house of micah confusion confusion anytime you've got images in your house that you worship you have confusion now let me help us out with this worship business anything we have in our lives that we give more emotions than we do to god it's an image i'm not saying you can't get excited about a football game and we seem to have very seldom times of doing that i'm not saying that you can't get excited about nailing that what would be a good uh 15 point buck would that be i don't i don't know 15 point would that be good i mean 20 jacket up huh i'm not saying you can't get excited about finding that dress at that rummage sale for a nickel you saw it hanging on the rack down here at dillard's for fifty dollars i'm not saying we can't have excitement like that but please be just as excited or a little bit more that you know the lord oh i know the lord oh i know him i praise him i bless him i magnify him images images you know we got a lot of people that do a lot of things to get people's attention they're attending we're in a society now that's trying as never before as never before to get your attention can we just stop long enough to really get the attention of the one that can make the matters better that's what worship that's what we did for the better part of 45 minutes this morning you know what we did we worked on getting god's attention we want god's attention because when we get god's attention everything's going to be all right lord did my worship please you this morning god did i please you today with my worship because there's a lot of people that you can work at pleasing please work on pleasing god please work on plea can i tell you how powerful pleasing god is how powerful pleasing god is the bible says when a man's ways please the lord he maketh even his enemies to be at peace with him i mean that person you've been trying to get to talk to you that in-law or that outlaw that you've been trying to make up with and all of that and just for years you you find yourself going the other direction when you see them in walmart and all those different places can i tell you what you ought to try you've tried everything from sending flowers writing letters you've tried everything why don't you just try this coming year just pleasing the lord just get your mind on pleasing god and and the bible said he's able to make even his enemies confusion everybody say confusion there is confusion in this house micah you got a house of confusion verse 5 and the man micah had a house of gods which one you going to serve this morning people say anymore i don't even know who i am that's right you got too many gods in the house and the man micah had a house of gods and made an ephod and a terraform now terraform is like a lucky charm is what it is it's like it's like something if he was going if you if he was one of the used micah if micah was going to try to sell a business deal he would put his terriform in his pocket and that give him that give him a little good that'd give him a uh uh some some good luck among the gods he had an epod and a tear from and consecrated one of his sons who became his priest don't get the children involved in this aren't we see one thing about if my life is not in order you can pretty well bank on our kids lives are not going to be in order you ever stop long enough to think when we're making decisions how this might affect your children go ahead mike i bring all them god's in the house you're going to have a son he'll partake of this he'll be a priest see if this is familiar now in those days was there no king in israel and every man did that which was right in his own eyes and there there was a young man out of bethlehem judah of the family of judah who was a levite oh he's a levite he was born with a specific job in a specific place he was born with that and he sojourned there wait a minute here this levite finds his place there that's interesting make a note of that and the man departed out of the city from bethlehem judah he's leaving where he belongs the levite belongs in bethlehem judah and the man departed out of the city from bethlehem judah to sojourn where he could find a place he came to mount ephraim in the to the house of micah assay sojourn now i looked up a little something today i've got a commentary now i want to introduce you to this man this levite this levite had a place he had a place he was when he was born he was born a levite he was born to be in that place he was born with a job to do he was born he was already predetermined what he would be in life now unusual we find him leaving his place and doing a sojourn and i i looked this up i have a commentary john gill and he says this about this levi he says to to sojourn where he could find a place wait a minute you've already got a place why are you looking for a place can i tell you today if the devil has discouraged more people with the spirit of discontentment the devil cannot defeat you when you're in the place god wants you when you're in the place spiritually that god wants you all hell can come against you but they will never defeat you when you are in the place you are supposed to be let me read on john gill to sojourn where he could find a place listen to him either being a man that had a rambling head and of an unsettled mind and could not easily fix on a place anywhere hey just some folks and this is a work of the flesh they can't be happy wherever they're at well i i think if i had this i think if i was over here i think if i had but they get over there and they're not happy over there and and and this levite evidently was suffering from being discontent some folks can't see the blessing of being whole some folks can't see the blessing of their family the blessing of your wife the blessing of your husband the blessing of raising up your i i've said this more more times than i can can count but what a blessing it is on sunday morning for me to drive up and as i'm driving up to see families walking to the house of god families walking to the house of god and my heart just swells with joy can i tell you something always be content with that be content i've seen people get a burden for people they've never even seen in another country and not have the proper burden for the kids that sit in the back seat of their car can i tell you the kids that are in the back seat of your car up in your bedroom are just as lost and just as in need of a savior as people that are all the way around the world now i know i'm kind of running in a slow gear this morning but i got something i want to say today order order this man couldn't be satisfied anywhere he couldn't be satisfied that he had a place that god had given him place god given him a family god had given him all these things he he had to go soldier and he had a rambling i like how john gill said he had a rambling head can i tell you that a nature of a goat is he rambles a goat just rambles he just rambles let me go on today either i'm real slow or you're real quiet today one of the two he sojourned verse number nine and micah said unto him which cometh thou where'd you come from and he said unto him i am a levite of bethlehem judah and i go to sojourn where i might find a place i'm a levite well you have a place you're just not content with the place you have and micah said unto him dwell with me and be a father unto me and be a father and be unto me a father and a priest did you not notice i mean i had it in my notes when the mother was saying i want to make an image and the mother was saying i want to make a molten image that was the absence of a father there was an absence of a father here this whole story has the absence of a father what did micah finally say to that levite he said well stay here and be a father to me can i tell you that if you're sitting here today husband and wife what a valuable thing you've got sister if your husband's sitting beside you today he's not perfect but neither are you and you ought to thank your god that when it's not in those days in these days it's not the macho thing to do to come to church your man got up and your man came to church with you today thank your god i promise you there are many women in this congregation this morning that wish their husband was sitting right beside them today now men be thankful that you've got a woman that in these days when women are being told that their body is nothing more than a piece of meat that needs to be decorated up to get the attention i about said the opposite sex but now in these days it's any sex be thankful today that your wife's sitting beside you this morning be thankful there's a lot i don't have much to thank god for your man sitting beside you today you ought i thank your god for it your wife's with you today you ought to thank your god you ought to thank your god for it you got some kids either in this room right now or somewhere on this campus you ought to you oh thank you god i'm not going to allow the spirit of discontent to get in my heart i'm not going to allow the spirit of discontent i've got a lot to thank god for this morning i've got a lot to praise god for this morning now say brother carpenter my husband's not in church have a continual prayer on your lips that god will get a hold of him be a father verse number 9 i believe that's where i stopped reading and micah said unto him which cometh thou and he said i am a levite of bethlehem jude and i go to sojourn ramble where i may find rest micah said unto him dwell with me and be unto me a father and a priest and i will give thee ten shekels of silver by the ear a suit of apparel and the rituals now i'm saying it i'm saying it properly but i'm telling you most bible reading programs says vittles all right i am being sophisticated and saying rituals but jed klampe was right you talk about a you talk about a confused house and a house out of order when the man is only going to be a priest a preacher for 10 pieces of silver a year and a suit every year and food that's a lousy house that's a lousy that's a lousy house come be a come be a levite come be a come be a levite from me dwell with me i'll give you ten pieces of silver i'll put a suit on your back and i'll give you vittles to eat so the levite went in isn't it amazing what a low price people set on such a high calling you're a levite man you've got a family you've got a place you you've got a rich heritage that you could be a part of you're a levite man you're a worker in the tabernacle you're a levite man but you'd give all that up you'd give all of that up for 10 pieces of silver a new suit every year and some vittles to eat you'd give all that up for that isn't it amazing esau traded his birthright for a lousy bowl of beans judas so the lord jesus christ for 30 pieces of silver can i tell you where you're at in your walk with god money shouldn't be money shouldn't be able to pry you away from this money can't buy you a good marriage money may buy you money money may buy you a good mattress but it won't buy you good rest can i tell you today we've got something here church let's have divine order to our lives manny verse 11 and the levite was content oh he's finally content and the levite was content to dwell with the man and the young man was unto him as one of his sons and micah consecrated a levite and the young man became his priest and was in the house of micah now now get this now get this now you gotta get this micah is now a levite in this house but don't forget it's a house of gods right it's a house of gods he's just representing one of the gods in the house our houses cannot be houses of gods we cannot have a form of godliness on sunday and nothing else to remind us about it throughout the week because he's already declared he won't be second he'll either be the lord of all or he's not the lord at all he's either going to be first in your life or he will stand on the side and watch you wreck your life and wait for you to turn to him and say can you help me and when we turn to him we ought to know god i'm in the mess that i'm in because i have not put you first i want some divine order in my life it's jesus in the morning it's jesus in the noon time it's jesus when the sun goes down it's jesus of how i treat my wife it's jesus of how i treat my family it's jesus of how i treat my church family it's jesus how i treat the community it's jesus all i want i want you may be seated i want that divine order please don't try to have him in a house of gods number one he won't be there but don't deceive yourself deceive don't deceive yourselves and i think we'll come up on this in just a moment verse 12 and micah consecrated the levite and the young man became his priest and was in the house of micah then said micah now i know that the lord will do me good seeing i have a levite to my priest now i can't just see him brother claiborne walking through his house of gods them oh gods that disappointed him at times him oh gods that had not given him the answer he wanted but oh boy oh boy now i've got me a levite i've got me a now i know the lord will do me good i've got me a levite can i tell you what i have written down in my bible false hope and false security the lord is not going to do you good because you've got to levite that levites out of his place and the lord's not going to do that is a false sense of security and if there's one if if there's one sedative that the times is trying to put upon us right now is a false sense of security i'm all right i i i'm all right i i i'm just fine i i'm all right in the way that i'm living i'm all i'm all right in the way that i'm living can i tell you when you start thinking about what's right there's a first century there was a first century preacher who was very concerned about christians that began to go to the coliseums and watch a lot of the gladiators fight to the death they would fight to the death when those two men walked out into that ring one of those men would not leave one of those men would die it was brutal they would dismember one another in the midst and evidently history has recorded to us that some christians would go to the coliseum and watch these and he simply asked them the question how can it be right when what is going on there is so wrong how can it be right when what is going on is so wrong how can things be right in our lives when the bible spells it out that it's wrong now please understand me today as our musicians would come please understand me right now that god is not a god that doesn't want us to have fun and therefore he's got a long list of doubts do nots and i i don't want you to do this it's because i've got old in eternity and i'm not for you having fun anymore can i tell you anything god's word spells out that is wrong anything god's word forbids us to do anything in god's word that he says thou shalt not can i tell you there's a positive side to it the ten commandments the ten commandments kind of show a negative side thou shalt not commit adultery that's the negative side of it but can i can i tell you the positive side of it the positive side is you get to celebrate 37 years of wonderful glorious happy matrimony you get to you get to have someone as your best friend you get to have someone as your business partner you get to have someone as a comforter to you you get to have someone as a prayer partner with you you get to have someone that's looking out for your best you get to have you see when god said thou shalt not commit adultery he wasn't saying well it would be fun to go catting around no he knew you never get things like this amen thou shall have no other gods before me mrs winfrey i heard her interviewed of what changed her mind that there was more than one god she said i heard her i i'm not saying here say i heard the woman being interviewed she said when the minister and the church that i went to said thou shalt have no other gods before me for i am a jealous god she said i thought to myself what's he jealous there must be other gods and she said that's what opened my mind up to explore other things my dear sweet lady if i could talk to you the reason he said thou shalt have no other gods before me is because there isn't any and he wanted to save you from the spirit of deception and quite honestly he wanted to save you from wasting your time and your energy and your emotion he loves you enough he knows that rock is not going to answer you he knows laying your firstborn child in the arms of a burning furnace called molec and you you how you get your blessings and there was god's there were false gods in the bible like this how you would get the blessing on all of your children is that you brought your firstborn to this huge furnace and had two arms out like this and they would stoke the furnace so hot till the arms would begin to glow and you lay your firstborn child in the arms of molech and that gave you and god was saying don't do that don't have no other gods before me because what i want to do i want to take your firstborn and put a double blessing on your firstborn i want to take your firstborn i want to bless you i want your children to bring joy to your life i want your joy your children to bring joy and happiness to your life aren't you thankful today for all of those commandments that that that they're really positive in nature false sense false sense of security i'm okay i'm all right false sense i've got me a levite now i've got me a levite now man i've got it i've got it mad reminds me and i'll close with this it reminds me in the book of acts chapter number 27 in verse number 13. paul was a prisoner on this boat paul was a prisoner i want you to see the characters on this boat for a moment paul was a prisoner he's going to rome the time is late it's dangerous to sail because winter has come they've got a little open window a little open window should we sell or shouldn't we sell paul over here sister carpenter he overhears the two other characters the captain and the owner of the ship he overhears them talking should we sell or shouldn't we sell well if we sell we we we may do this and we may do that we we may and evidently paul took it to prayer paul took it to prayer and god told paul to tell them not to sell don't sell if you sell there will be the complete destruction of this ship if you sail and so paul the prison preacher steps up into the conversation of the owner and the captain of the ship and he says sirs don't sell we shouldn't sail he represents the man of god we shouldn't say we shouldn't do this but the bible says nevertheless they believe the centurion and the owner of the ship more than paul you think about it today think about it every preacher is a prisoner i'm just as free in your life as you will let me be i'm just as free in your life is you will allow me to be please don't sail well sir do you know something about waters no i don't but god has told me the bible says in verse number 13 of acts 27 and when the south wind blew softly supposing they had obtained their purpose loosing fence they sell close by crete but not long after there arose against it a tempetuous wind called your rocklin and when the ship was caught and could not bear up into the wind we let her drive look at this there'll be a there'll be a time in your life please hear me today church there'll be a time in your life when the south deceiving winds will blow you're all right you're all right it's all right what you're doing it it's fine what you're doing it's it's fine it's not it's not hurting it's fine what you're doing it's fine but listen to your pastor this morning i'm about as free as you'll let me be to you today not long after the false winds of security not long after those false winds of security there rose against it a tempetuous wind called your rocklin it was a hurricane it blew your rockland and means in every different direction it blew in every different direction until they lost total control of the ship can i tell you today don't allow the false winds of false security to tell you you're all right today i'm as free as you'll let me be today but i'm here to tell you that god wants you to come to this altar this morning and god wants you to lay your burdens at his speak today god wants you to come this morning and lay your burdens at his feet right now god wants you to come today and say god i need your help lord i need your help i don't want to have a house of gods i want to have a house where the god is in residence i want to have a house where you are in residence god would you stand with me right now father i love you today father i love you today would you begin to pray with me all over this building there are souls here this morning that the holy ghost is dealing with you right now that the holy ghost is needing with you to come to this altar right now step out of your pew right now tell the person beside you i i need to go to the altar right now i need to go to the altar right now oh in the name of jesus christ you won't order you won't order you've been so confused you've been so confused you don't know who you are anymore you're so confused in your life you're about to lose your marriage you're going to lose your children oh god in the name of jesus today pray with me church pray with me church pray with me right now the most important thing you're losing your soul this morning the devil's trying to get you out of the place that you should be in he's trying to move you out of the place you should be in today why don't you step out of your pew right now this altar is open this altar is open it's altered call time this altar is open right now in the name of jesus right now the name of jesus christ right now god touched lord oh god touch lord this morning god touch the lord this morning god lord touch this morning i pray with me i i know that i may be belaboring this point but there's someone here today false winds of security are blowing upon you you are not all right this ship is going to be totally destroyed it'll be a loss you didn't have to suffer it'll be a loss you didn't have to suffer it'll be a ship that could be saved lord i need you today god i need you today
