gospel they're good-hearted they've accepted what was preached to them Acts chapter 19. is a perfect example of this in verse 1 and it came to pass that while Apollos he was a preacher was at Corinth Paul having passed through the upper Coast came to Ephesus and finding certain disciples he said unto them have ye received the Holy Ghost since ye believed now again just like the foolishness of getting a hold of people's jaws and trying to make them speak and hitting them up under and taking a piece of paper and Honda and Suzuki and all that there's also Great era and a lot of Christian Christian circles that say once you confess faith in Christ you are automatically sealed with the Holy Spirit well it sounds good but it's not it's not true doctrinally believing upon the Lord Jesus Christ and receiving his Spirit are two separate experiences now I will tell you you have to first believe upon him believing because remember what Jesus said in Mark 16 and these signs shall follow them that believe he that believeth and is baptized shall be saved he that believeth not shall be damned I've actually had people take me to task on that verse of scripture he that believeth and is baptized shall be saved he that believeth not shall be damned and and of course believing plus baptism equals salvation he said he that believeth the scripture doesn't read he that believeth is saved should be baptized it says he that believeth and is baptized shall be saved I didn't I didn't write the book I'm just running over the motorcycles God's word God's word will have the last say he that believeth and is baptized shall be saved believing plus baptism equals salvation but here's where they took me to task on then it says he that believeth not shall be damned and they say but it doesn't say and is not baptized well Common Sense tells you that if you're not baptized if you're not a Believer you can get baptized to your toes shrivel up and you're not saved you can get baptized in the creek until the tadpoles know your social security number you're not saved because if you're not a believer it doesn't matter what act you follow you're not saved right so he says to these disciples have you received the Holy Ghost since you believed and they say unto him we have not so much as heard whether there be any Holy Ghost we don't know what you're talking about we've not heard so much and that's acts go back to Acts 19 and verse number three or two we've not heard we have not heard we have not so much as heard whether there be any holy we don't know what you're talking about he said unto them what then unto what then were you baptized and they said unto John's baptism he says now listen to this baptism always has a purpose he says would you tell me what purpose you were baptized and they said unto John's baptism Paul John verely baptized with the baptism of repentance saying unto the people that they should believe on him which should come after him that is on Christ Jesus now John's baptism it was from God it was the Council of God it was from God it was ordained of God God told John to go baptize John's baptism was under the law John's baptism had an expiration date on it Pentecost because John's baptism was saying I have repented of my sins and I am believing upon him which is to come after me John which is Christ Jesus Jesus that baptism had an expiration date on it and it came up to Pentecost and so these Believers evidently somehow isolated I don't know but for whatever reason they had not heard about Pentecost they had not heard about the gospel of Pentecost and repent and Acts 2 3 they had not heard this and so they said we have not heard and and said well how were you baptized they said well under John's and then Paul explains it but listen to verse 5 praise God when they heard this see the act of obedience is so important when they heard this they were baptized in the name of the Lord Jesus oh God give us hearts that when they hear this are willing to see error and walk on in truth oh God give us hearts and I've heard a lot of people they'll say now brother Carpenter my great-grandmother my grandmother my dad whoever were they were great and and they were never baptized this way and are you saying that they're not saved and you saying that they're going to go to hell absolutely not your grandmother will stand before her maker based on what she knew but you will be a different story because God has allowed you to come under the influence of Truth oh when they heard this they didn't say well let's get together and see what somebody will say about us when they heard this they didn't get in a quorum and see if everybody was in agreement when they heard this they were baptized in the name of the Lord Jesus notice what happens go ahead and clap your hands if you would like truth is worthy to be applauded truth is worthy of an applaud when they heard this they were baptized in the name of the in the name of the Lord Jesus and when Paul had laid his hands upon them the Holy Ghost came on them and they spake with tongues and prophesied you see this great experience of the Holy Ghost baptism these signs shall follow them that believe they shall speak with new tongues turn with me to Acts chapter 8 and I like to deal with a little something that is in case that you're ever trying to help someone see this precious truth Acts chapter 8 says then Philip verse 5. then Philip went down to the city of Samaria and preach Christ unto them and the people with one Accord gave heed unto those things which Philip Speck hearing and seeing the Miracles which he did for unclean spirits crying with a loud voice came out of many that were possessed with them and many taken with palsies and that were lame we're healed and there was great joy in that City but there was a certain man called Simon which Before Time in the same city use sorcery Bewitched the people of the Samaria giving out then himself was some great one to whom they all gave heed from the least to the greatest saying this man is the great power of God and to him they had regard because that of a long time he had Bewitched them was sorceries but when they here it goes but when they believed Philip preaching the things concerning the kingdom of God and the name of Jesus Christ they were baptized both men and women what did they do they believed and they were City and they believed and were baptized then Simon himself believed also and when he was baptized he continued with Philip and wondered beholding the Miracles and signs which were done that's a sermon all to itself now when the apostles which were at Jerusalem heard that Samaria had received the word of God they sent unto them Peter and John who when they were come down prayed for them that they might receive the Holy Ghost now it's a beautiful timeline here because at this very moment the apostles stayed at Jerusalem because there was great persecution and the church was scattered in other words they were hiding they were in hiding the apostles word but when they got word that Philip had went down to Samaria and preached and the Samaritans believed God's word and were baptized but something hasn't happened we got the report the Samaritans received God's word and we got the report that the Samaritans were baptized but something was missing and that missing thing caused Peter and John to risk their lives because they would rather die for truth than to let a people live with half truth it's dangerous for them to be baptized without getting the Holy Ghost it's dangerous for them to set within complete truth so Peter and John made their way and I bring that up because sometimes we just read the Bible and Peter and John came down to them and prayed for them and we just kind of read that as if they got on a plane over here at McGee Tyson and flew down to Samaria and got off and aided Chili's and then went on to the church it was dangerous they were risking their lives but they knew we can't let these people hear the good news and be baptized without receiving the power to live an overcoming life this is the danger of people hearing good news you see you see if you really put the pieces together it really makes sense because if you don't go on and get the power of the Holy Ghost to live an overcoming life you have to come up with far-fetched doctrines such as once I believe I'm always saved and it doesn't matter what I believe after I'm saved because I'm always saved it's called unconditional eternal security unconditional once you are saved of course they just say being saved you simply simply and almost played a small clip I heard a Man On The Radio preaching he preached a great sermon he came to the end of it he said I never like to close now this is exactly I almost got it down and I almost played it today he preached the whole sermon he came down to the end of the sermon and he said I never like to close a radio time I never like to close this without giving you an opportunity and he said right now say with me Lord Jesus Come into my heart forgive him in my sins and then he said in Jesus name he said now if you prayed that prayer you're born again welcome to the kingdom of God and I'll tell you something that's not right because when people are told they're born again when they're not then they have to accept doctrines to justify a lifestyle that doesn't match a profession and they profess to be Christ but their works are far from it that's why we need the gift of the Holy Ghost that's why you need a power in you greater than you've ever had you'll never overcome sin you're no match alone for sin but oh give me the gift of the Holy Ghost give me that power within hallelujah hallelujah Hallelujah Jesus Jesus Jesus I believe Philip they believed him who when they were come down verse 15 prayed for them that they might receive the Holy Ghost for as yet he was falling upon none of them only they were baptized in the name of the Lord Jesus then lay they their hands on them and they received the Holy Ghost and I've had many people try to take us to task on this verse it doesn't say and they smoke with tongues no it doesn't neither do I say Here Comes brother Croucher in his new car with wheels on it oh honey we're waiting at the church brother crouchers coming by to show us his new car and if I said to her oh honey here he comes in his new car and it's got wheels on it he would say duh yeah why because it's a given thank you it's a given that if it's a car it has wheels and in the book of eyes it was a given if they received the Holy Ghost they spoke in tongues
