thank you god as you're making your way back to your seat this evening we give glory and honor and praise great exaltation to the great head of our church the lord jesus christ the one who gave his life and shed his blood that he may purchase his bride i give him praise and honor and glory thanksgiving somebody made a statement about pentecostal prey versus other denominations and the man said with quiet frustration he said you pentecostals pray like he's in the room well he is in the room brother robinson is our honor to meet you tonight my good friend to have you bless us and with your presence here and the great word of testimony about what god is doing around this world amen i was inspired for this sermon this message tonight by that first choir song it says something about he's lied and the roots it's in my roots the lie is in my roots holy holy ghost just stabbed me with that sometimes we have been cursing symptoms when we need to curse the root i know you're standing i just want to say something before i read my text from mark 11 and verse 12. a precious man i will get his permission sometimes people tell me things and they don't necessarily want their names told because they don't they don't really i think in this place this situation this person would not want you to think spiritually highly of him as if he's telling this for us to believe he's some spiritual great one but he came to me today and he said ever since i've been coming to this church he said i have often wondered what these two ledges are here right above where my fingers pointing this ledge up here and he said on both sides and he said i've often wondered if something is supposed to go there if there's something in the future that's going to be there and he said you begin to teach on spiritual warfare and he said god gave me a vision of an angel standing on that ledge and an angel standing on that ledge with a red sword in his hand and he said i knew that that red sword meant battle the angels were here to do spiritual warfare and battle he said i didn't come to you and tell you that until i had my second vision and he said a few days ago i saw those same angels standing one on that ledge and one on this ledge but this time instead of having a red sword in their hands they had blue swords in their hands and as he sought the lord for the interpretation the lord said that color of blue means peace transquity peace and he said the angel of the lord has come to speak peace over this church the angel of the lord has come to tell those that are troubled be at peace tonight i the captain of your salvation have got everything in control i have defeated the enemy tonight you have allowed me to defeat the enemy tonight and i bring peace to you this evening say well pastor you you really believe in that kind of stuff i absolutely do i absolutely i absolutely do mark chapter 11 verse number 12. we're not finished here tonight we've got some cursing of the roots that we need to do and on the morrow when they were come from bethany he was hungry and seeing a fig tree far off having leaves he came if happily he might find anything thereon and when he came to it he found nothing but leaves but the time of figs was not yet and jesus answered and said unto it no man eat fruit of thee hereafter forever and his disciples heard it go down to verse 20 and in the morning as they passed by they saw the fig tree dried up from the roots peter calling to remembrance saith unto him master behold the fig tree which thou cursed is withered away jesus answering saith unto them have faith in god for verily i say unto you that whosoever shall say unto this mountain be thou removed and be thou cast into the sea and shall not doubt in his heart but shall believe that those things which he saith shall come to pass he shall have whatsoever he saith therefore i say unto you what's what things so ever you desire when you pray believe that you received them and you shall have them and when you stand pray forgive for if you for if you have ought against any that your father also which is in heaven may forgive you your trespasses but if you do not forgive neither will your father which is in heaven forgive your trespasses for just a few moments tonight and i really want to spend some time in the altar cursing some roots but i want to minister to you on the root of the problem or the solution the root of the problem or solution father thank you for your word tonight your word has creative power your word contains the history of the great things that you have done your word tonight has deliverance your word tonight has healing your word tonight has salvation father the enemy of our souls hates your word the enemy of our souls cannot penetrate a child of god who has surrounded himself with your word i pray tonight lord that you would touch this congregation i thank you for the souls that were baptized this morning i pray tonight lord that you would minister to all that are present here in jesus mighty name we pray amen if you want to help me curse the root tonight would you give him a hand to praise before you're seated that very timely choir song that speaks about the roots speak about voices that said you should be ashamed and so therefore they were ashamed that song inspired me today is i listen to it and i begin to think about the roots the holy ghost led me to this passage in my mind of where jesus on a journey had come from bethany bethany means blessing he had traveled through bethany he traveled through this place of blessing on his way to do the will of god you know a lot of people die for a lack of vision a lot of people die for a lack of vision a lot of churches die for a lack of vision a lot of the work of god has suffered i believe for a lack of vision and for a lack of a goal that is set before them i've been honored my wife and i have been honored to pastor this great church for 38 years and all 38 years that we've been here we have tried by the help of god to keep some kind of goal or some kind of vision that is before us because if you ever reach your goal and are content you will become spiritually stagnated and actually the goal that you reached will suffer from it and so jesus was on his way to his goal he was on his way to his mission he was on his way ultimately to calvary but the bible says that as he left bethany that he was passed by a fig tree the scripture says that he was hungry he was he was hungry and proving that he was god and man he was truly hungry he was truly hungry just like you and i get hungry all right he was truly don't look at me uh like a halo you know what i'm talking about hungry we left here today going to several normally we stop by hearties and get a low-carb burger and we eat a low-carb burger my sweetheart and i on our way to to our second service at two o'clock we eat it on y road between 321 and chapman highway and if you don't believe i ate that burger my suits have the scars to prove many times i ate that burger well today we both decided that we was going to go buy taco bell we'll get something we left here a little early we even talked about eating in the parking lot so we won't have to drive and eat we can she is spoon fed me many a good meals going up there we got down here to the taco bell beside the home depot cars were lined up i don't know what they're serving today but they sure wanted it it wrapped around the building out on the highway i said well let's go over to the new taco bell let's go to the new taco bell it's on the way to the sevierville campus would you believe me if i told you the same thing at that taco bell they were wrapped around the building and we said hey just run in right quick we got locked into traffic she got out of the car to go to the door only to find the door locked so i'm hungry and i'm getting more disappointed by the moment so then he dawned on me i said hey sweet honey i said on the way on why road there's a little mom and pop store on the left fallon said she stopped there one time and got a delicious egg sandwich i said let's go there great let's go we pull up she looks at me and she says now you're going to eat anything that i bring you which i know what that means she is justifying what she's going to eat too all right i'm out in the car brother robinson i'm saying i know she's probably gonna bring me a hamburger out here it's not gonna be a low carb burger i don't believe this mom-and-pop place knows how to make a low-carb burger there's going to be nothing low-fat it's going to be old country greece oh hallelujah then i even got to entertaining i bet you there'd be some french fries come out and then i really stepped off the ledge i said maybe even some golden fried onion rings oh i'm just in the car i'm waiting she comes out a little earlier than what i thought she opens the door she's got a small black bag she says there's four people standing in line and it's not moving see what'd you get she pulled me out a diet dr pepper and a bag of doritos really so for lunch she had a bag of barbecue potato chips and i had fritos get it right i'm gonna be a truthful i don't want to miss i don't go to hell over the wrong potato chip i had i had fritos jesus was hungry he had been to two taco bells at a mom-and-pop country store he was hungry and he looks over in the field and there was a fig tree with leaves it promised him to satisfy his hunger it gave him a promise he was willing to cover with one hand his divinity and leave open his humanity to the possibility this tree has fruit but he came to this fig tree and he began to move his hands through the leaves and the more he moved his hands through the leaves his hunger and anger begin to mix because this fig tree had beckoned him with the promise of figs but there was nothing on the fig tree hey can i ask you tonight any of you ever been distracted from doing the will of god any of you in life ever had something take you from your bethany blessing your bethan your place of bethany and and kind of woo you kind of kind of coach you over to the side and say come on come on over here i know the will of god it it'll wait but would you come over here for just a little bit have any of you in life am i preaching to anybody tonight that knows what it's like to spend time in something that promises you fruit but the only fruit you got off of that was the fruit of disappointment anybody ever been disappointed at this time now i didn't write this i didn't write this jesus stands back and the bible says in verse 14 if you be so kind to put mark 11 and 14 back on the screen and the bible said and jesus answered and said unto it you think it's a little out there for you to talk to yourself find jesus talking to a tree he stands back that's what the king james says he stands back and he starts talking to the fruit to the fig tree to the barren fig tree he starts talking to that which has distracted him from the will of god he starts talking to that which has caused disappointment i think it's about time that we start talking to some of the things i'm not i didn't say talking about i said talking to there's a difference in talking about your fig tree and talking to your fig tree so he he stands back and he talks to this fig tree and he says no man is going to eat fruit of thee henceforth forever no man is ever going to eat fruit from thee now what that tells me is that tomorrow and i use tomorrow not in a 24-hour way but as in a way of saying that tree was going to bear fruit so what jesus cursed was not the barrenness of the day but the fruit that it would produce tomorrow i just believe that we need not only to work on today's disappointment but we need to work on the fruit of tomorrow's disappointment it's time that we not only get a momentary touch of god but that we get a touch of god that lasts more than a few hours it's time that we get our life on an even plane it's time that we find out the will of god because the will of god for you is not just your deliverance the will of god is not just putting your life back together god has got a divine calling for your life god has got something for you to do in the kingdom but if you waste your time on fig less fruit of fig trees if you waste your time all of all this all you'll ever be in life is a cycle of just trying to make it i've come tonight to tell somebody it's time for us to curse the root it's time for us to curse the root i was made for the will of god i was made for the master's plan i wasn't made to be a toy in the devil's toy box i was made to do something for god i've had some setbacks that i am ready to come out and i'm ready to do the will of god not less than 24 hours later peter and the disciples came by the fig tree in verse 20 and peter made an astonishing discovery the fig tree was not only dried up but mark would record his vision and mark would say the fig tree dried up from the roots he said it began to dry up from the roots we are a symptom generation we want to water the fruit and the leaves but if the plant's going to survive you got to water the roots and if something is going to live it's going to have the roots watered and if something is going to die you just don't cut it off at the ground because it's going to spring back up you got to dig it up by the roots he said master he said this fig tree is dried up from the roots verse 22 and i believe with all my heart jesus did all this he said first thing peter you want to know how it happened that's right lord he said the first thing i'm going to tell you is have faith in god and another translation that brings it out a little clearer he says you want to know how this happened you want to know how this happened peter yes i do he said have the faith of god well what is the faith of god calling those things which are not as though they were if you want to have a delivered life you need to start talking a delivered life if you want things to change around you you need to start talking about the things that you want changed around you you need to possess the faith of god number one number two jesus said verily i say unto you that you can say to this mountain be thou removed and be cast into the sea and shall not doubt in his heart and shall believe that those things which he saith shall come to pass he shall have whatsoever he saith what he said there is he said you've got to have the creative faith of god you have got to see what my promise is you have got to see yourself you have gotten i just i just believe this if you have not yet received the baptism of the holy ghost you don't doubt god made you a promise he said i will pour my spirit out upon all flesh you say well i tried to get it and i didn't get it let me ask you this after you go through repentance have you ever visualized yourself speaking in tongues huh have you ever visualized yourself speaking in tongues have you ever i know you've had a lot of imagery in your mind of doing other things but have you ever had imagery in your mind of you lifting up your hands and zero in on your tongue and you see your tongue moving because if you can ever start seeing what god has promised you then eventually you're going to embrace what god has given you can i oh hallelujah can i tell you when god tells us a scripture to obey you need to obey it and then you need to expect god to follow through with his word if you need some sort of blessing whether it's financial whether it's healing whether it's emotional you need to obey what god has said and then you need to begin to walk like something good is about to happen something good is on its way just anytime something good is about to happen curse it he said you got to have the faith of god and then you have got to begin to see what you need moved out of the way and cast into the sea and then in verse number 24 he said therefore i say unto you what things soever you desire when you pray believe that you receive them and you shall have them now watch this progress watch these steps he says first thing peter you're going to need to curse some roots in your life and he says the first thing you're going to have to have is the faith of god you've got to see it already cursed you've got to see it already done before anything happens it still has luscious green leaves but you've got to see it browned turned upside down and roots sticking out you've got to have the faith of god and after you have the faith of god you're going to have to know how to talk your language your speech has got to be faith you've got to look at mountains and you've got to say mountain be thou removed you've got to look at your daily i'm not preaching anybody that has daily mountains in their life and i know all y'all got it's so easy living for god but just eavesdrop on your preacher because i have mountains that i face daily and i'm not going to facebook about my mountain i'm not going to social media about my mountain i'm not going to have my best friends talk about my mountain because nothing gets done talking about my mountain i'm going to start talking to my mountain i am going to get my dance back i am going to get my joy back i am going to get my peace back i am going to get my reputation back i am going to get the joy of the lord i'm going to get my calling back i'm going to get my giftings back i'm going to get my children back i'm going to get my marriage back i'm going to get all these things i wish somebody just shout yes but there's nothing like praying about your mountain and he said you got to pray about it but i want to tell you something tonight what will kill your vision quicker than anything is harboring unforgiveness if god ever put the brakes on your life you cannot curse the roots you cannot see the mountain moved you cannot have a changed life until you're willing to forgive you've got to forgive well they don't they they've never asked me that's that's irrelevant them asking you is irrelevant whether they ever ask you or not you just go ahead right here right now tonight and say it's a poison that i'm not going to carry let me tell you something you will hurt yourself more by harboring unforgiveness than what they did to you to cause it oh i feel the holy ghost roots fig trees thank you brother hammond for the hammond was it at the sevierville campus today and he came through the office i was getting ready to get come to the prayer he said hey pastor he said i'm not telling you i'm not telling you what to preach he said you don't preach what you preach too like i said i am i feel i feel led to share it he said well he said and he stuttered all over himself he just he just has such great thoughts and gets to stutter and i don't know if that's pride really or what you know he said it was a fig tree i said correct he said he put his hands through the fig leaves and looked for fruit he was hungry for something right i said yes he said could it be tied in to adam and eve that when they sinned he came looking for them and what did he find them dressed in fig leaves hid among the trees he said could it be that this story is connected to hear that the savior is here tonight and he is saying i've already cursed that life for you already cursed that for you i became a curse so that you could inherit a blessing already and i began to think about i began to think about adam and eve's whole issue started with a tree you cannot eat the fruit without being connected to the root they ate of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil and they ate of the root and they became cursed i began to think about different trees in the bible i thought about the tree of absalom's death absalom was david's son absalom was born with a tremendous curse he was it would prove to be a curse to him absalom was born extremely good-looking absalom had according to the scripture absalom had not one blemish on his body he was extremely good-looking and he was extremely prideful the bible tells us that evidently absalom had an extremely well-set full head of hair he was so prideful that he only got a haircut once a year and he did it in the town square they would even weigh how much absalom's hair weighed it would be this man with this pride it would be this man pride is this way pride always seeks for position but it never wants what it takes to get the position pride wants to play the piano like sister eriksen but pride doesn't want to take the lessons that it takes to get here pride i want to be the king like my daddy david is the king i want to be the king yeah you want to be the king absalom but you don't want to tend to smelly sheep because that's how your daddy got to be the king you see anytime you have the root of pride in you you want today what you don't deserve till tomorrow you want it and you want it now absolutely so full of pride over through his own daddy i can't even imagine this i have a son i have son-in-laws i can't even imagine this kind of talk i can't even imagine david's own son overthrowing his kingdom david's own flesh and blood son got an army together and was going to come and kill his own father to take the kingship of israel when david heard that absalom had an army david barefooted said i got to get out of jerusalem i got to get out of jerusalem and david took off running up the mount of olives david took off running barefooted he said i got to get out of here he wants to kill me he wants to kill me but that boy will kill everybody in jerusalem if i don't get out of here and david took off running for his own life from his own son sometime later david had accumulated an army an absalom's army father and son army evidently david was very confident that his army would win the last words that he tells joab he said joab don't hurt my boy joab don't hurt my boy don't hurt what david he has slept with your concubines david he would have killed you but david says don't hurt my boy isn't that like the love of god doesn't the love of god plead for us while sometimes we do everything but spit in god's face but god says don't hurt my boy don't hurt my boy absalom and david's army engaged it wasn't long until absalom knew that he had lost absalom straddles a mule and all through the woods he rode and the bible says that absalom's pride absalom's hair got caught in the limbs of an oak tree and when those limbs gouged into his hair the mule rode on but absolutely hung dangling between heaven and earth absalom the root of pride is going to kill you one day pride is gonna kill you one day get victory over pride you gotta curse pride you gotta tell pride when pride tells to tell you you're too educated to shout you're too educated to praise the lord you've got too much money to worship you really don't need to worship like those weak weak-minded other people that get up there and raise their hands and white tears from the right you better kill that pride now you better kill that pride now you better tell that pride i'm going to cut you off now i curse you now i've got to praise the lord i've got to magnify his name whether i've got a million dollars or 10 cents i've got to give him praise do you feel the same way i've got to give him praise they came and put darts through the heart of absalom i think of another story where a young anointed prophet was ordered by god to go prophesy against a wicked altar and a wicked king god told the prophet he said i want you to go down and i want you to prophesy against this altar and i want you to say that the altar is going to be split into and the ashes poured out to verify that i am a man of god and he said don't you eat any bread in that city don't you drink any water in that city and don't you even go out of town on the same road that you came into town on the young man of god went down and he stood in the temple and the king was offering up on a false altar and the man of god prophesied that the altar would be split the king turns around and with a stretch that arm orders the temple guards to arrest this young man when about that time the king's arm became limp as could be he could not move it he could not draw it back he could not do anything with his arm and just as the young man prophesied there was a cracking sound and the altar burst open and the ashes poured out the king with his arm dangling by his side looked at the young man and said pray for me son pray that the lord restore my arm and the boy prayed for him and the king's arm was restored he got feelings he could move his hand he could move it back and forth the king said oh my son come home with me and i'm going to give you a worthy offering i'm going to give you i'm going to give you a worthy pay and you'll eat at my house and the young man looked at him and he said sir he was commanded me by the word of the lord to drink no water eat no bread in this place as a matter of fact king i'm ready to tell you goodbye i'm not even going to go out of town on the same road that i came into town on and he wrote off oh how that story could end well oh how that story could end well but he didn't quite make it home it didn't quite make it home you know what's going to be a tragedy i read one time brother robinson where they told me statistics say that most people that fall asleep driving an automobile fall asleep within miles of their home that when they're brother made for two and three hundred miles away from home they know in their mind i gotta stay awake i'm two or three hundred miles away from home i've gotta stay awake keep the window rolled down the music turned up i gotta i gotta drink some more i got coffee i got to do this i got to stay awake but something about getting familiar the red light the store that i go to the street something about being familiar and starts to lawless to sleep the young man almost got home he almost got home when he looked and saw a shade tree he saw an oak tree and he thought to himself as i'm not eating bread i'm not drinking water i went back out i went out on a different road that i came in on what could be wrong with me resting can i tell you something when it comes to your walk with god hear me now when it comes to your walk with god if you have to question it that might be a good signal that you don't need to do it if you have to question should we watch this should we go there should i dress this way should i drink this maybe you shouldn't do it at all and the young man sat down under the oak almost home almost home when an old false prophet caught up with him you do realize that he kept moving the old false prophet who represents the devil would have never caught him you know one way for the devil to catch you sit down because he's going to and fro you better keep moving yourself the old false prophet i'm going to tell you something about getting familiar and getting relaxed almost home you don't think as clear as you should the old false prophet pulled up and he said son say that boy ar are you the boy that went down to the temple today and prophesied and the altar split open in the king's arm are you the boy i'm him sir he said come on back home with me you're gonna eat some bread with me and drink some water he said no sir he said i'm not gonna do it he said it was told me by the word of the lord eat no bread drink no water and said therefore i haven't and then the bible says it that old false prophet said i'm a prophet like you are and the lord said to come home with me i'm going to tell you something you get relaxed you're not thinking like you ought to think i remember that night at our house late at night i'd got ready for bed and was about to go go get in the bed when sister carpenter i saw some tail lights out in front of the house at that time we had a bay window we had a bay window and i heard my wife talking to someone and she said your your baby is sick your your baby's sick yes and i could hear a little faint voice and i kind of i kind of i was in my pajamas so i kind of come up the sidewall to listen and i got where i could see my my wife's hand and this woman said my baby is sick and uh i need and she kept saying and i saw my wife reach for that doorknob and i've never i don't think i've ever hollered at you i know i didn't tell the right story about potato chips but i don't think i've ever hollered at you but i screamed out i said don't open that door she jumped back i said we'll call the law for you we'll call the police they can help you get to the hospital with a sick baby no sooner had i said that that woman shot off that front porch brother dean and then i i would assume it was a man came out from the round side of our house and jumped in the car and drove off the police later pulled him over they came back to our house and they said they were about to rob you tell you something sometimes you can hear a story that you're not in your right mind she heard a story about a baby it touched a mother's heart and she was just inches away from opening up a door and god only knows if we would even be here tonight you're not thinking right you're not thinking right you're a prophet like me and the lord told you to bring me back son you're not thinking right oh how i could have saved your life oh if i could have been there and said son you're not thinking right can i tell you why you're not thinking right if he lived in that city and he was a prophet like you then why did god have to send you to that city why couldn't god send him sometimes good old common sense can help us to follow after the word of the lord you know the end of the story the young man died by being attacked by a lion i've spent a lot of my time tonight talking about bad roots but i got to tell you before i end jesus christ would choose to identify himself in revelation 5 and 3 unveiling the great plan of redemption revelation 5 and 3. no man in heaven nor in earth neither under the earth was able to open the book neither to look thereof and not wet much because no man was found worthy to open and to read the book neither to look thereon and one of the elders saith unto me weep not behold the lion of the tribe of judah the root of david have prevailed to open the book and to loose the seven seals thereof i preached to you the majority of my message about bad roots and we do need to curse the roots of pride and you need to curse the roots of inactivity but can i leave you with hope tonight there is a root that you need to be grafted into paul said that we have been grafted in to christ we have been grafted into the vine we have been grafted in oh we who by nature were sinners have now been drafted into the right vine would just stand with me tonight i got to tell you like i told the severable audience what i told the severe bull congregation look up here at pastor with me tonight you've run and hid long enough you've run and hid yourself adam and eve long enough god has sent me here tonight to tell somebody and god has sent you here to hear these words it's time to surrender and be grafted in to christ to be grafted into mercy to be grafted into grace god can take the most horrible sinner and god can make the most beautiful saint out of him god can take listen you cannot you have not you will not sin enough that he would have to look at you and say that my roots cannot help you hear me tonight you're running stop running tonight tonight is the end of your running it's the end of your running we all read mother's day comes mother's day comes and there's probably not a pentecostal church that somewhere somebody doesn't minister on proverbs 31 the virtuous woman oh they read about this woman this virtuous woman she's trusted by her husband she's loved by her children she she she's all this rolled into one virtuous woman but what shocks a lot of people is this you know who wrote that bathsheba wrote that bathsheba yeah hey can i tell you something can i tell you something can we be real here tonight yes david's sin yes david abused his kingly power but the bible does not say that david raped bathsheba does not say he raped her she could have at any time protested and said i'm a married woman i refuse this surely someone would have come to her help but she followed right along she lay in the bed of adultery right along with david she was part of the cover-up too but somehow someway bathsheba got connected to god's root now i'm not advocating for you to sin that grace may abound i'm advocating that if you're sinning don't you allow your sin to hide you among the fig tree you come home tonight you come home in jesus name you get out of that pew right now and walk down to this altar and say god craft me into this vine right now god grabbed me into this root right now i curse alcohol i curse drug addiction i curse what happened to me as a child i curse everything that i've ever done god grab me in god church pray right now pray right now altars are open come out of that pew in jesus name come out of that pew in the name of the lord get away from those roots in the name of the lord come right now here they come here they come come right now come right now i command you in jesus name god's got to work for you god's got a calling for you satan you let go of that young lady satan you let go of that young man shaking you like you're that person come on right now do it do it god needs your help god needs your help do it right now do it right now come on come on come on help me pray church get up as close around the altar as you can they're gonna come out of the pews there's people's hearts that are touched tonight there's been you've gripped the back of that pew let god that pew and come now come walking now god wants to fill you with the holy ghost god wants to touch you tonight this is your night come out from the fig tree come out from the victory this is go ahead that's it cry out cry out that's right cry out that's right jake that's right jake that's right fraley that's right that's right cry out cry out hallelujah oh my god i cursed the room i cursed the roots i curse these roots i curse these roots i curse alcoholism i curse drug addiction i curse sexual perversion i curse it i curse it i curse it i curse it i am not a performer i am not a pervert i am a child of the most high god i am not an alcoholic i am an apostolic spirit-filled oh i am not an adulterer i am not a fornicator i am not a liar i am a child of god i see myself as a child of god can i pray there's deliverance here tonight there's deliverance here
