you stand with me get your bibles out this morning we're going to go to the word of the lord what a wonderful spirit of god that we're feeling here today and i always like to greet our guests and and tell you that we're so delighted to have you at first apostolic church with us and many of you you could just about speak it with me you've heard it but i do mean it from the bottom of my heart of all the churches that you could have chosen to be at the fact that you chose first apostolic church to be your place of worship this morning is a tremendous compliment to this church family and we would like to give you something you've never had before and that's an apostolic hand clap offering thank you for being with us this morning thank you so much thank you thank you so very very much if you have your bibles turn with me to the book of isaiah the book of isaiah chapter number 7 and verse number 14. while you're looking for that i want to say to all the musicians and everyone that has been spending countless hours practicing for tonight's spectacular um i am want to say thank you i remember back on mcginley street we had two light switches and brother heinz two light switches you hit two light switches it lit up the whole auditorium all right we had one sound board with i think 12 channels on it all right it was easy to run it was easy to turn the lights on at the church just two two switches and everything comes on and now uh with modern technology um they they have taught me how to push one button back there and and and turn the lights on here and that's just that's just that's as far as it goes all right but i thank god for everyone today would you i know you got your bible in your hand but would you would you give a hand to the choir to the music just erickson to all the hard work all right are you ready for the word this morning come on how many is ready for the word can i hear you say yes ready for the word isaiah 7 14 therefore the lord himself shall give you a sign behold a virgin shall conceive and bear a son and shall call his name emmanuel the next verse is isaiah chapter 9 and verse number 6. for unto us a child is born unto us a son is given and the government shall be upon his shoulder and his name and his name shall be called wonderful but wonderful is not his name his name shall be called wonderful counselor the mighty god the everlasting father and the prince of peace but wonderful is not his name counselor is not his name and the mighty god is not his name and the everlasting father is not his name and the prince of peace could someone help me today what is that name jesus god i love you this morning thank you for the name that's above every name may i live my life to do nothing but lift up the name of jesus may i live my life god to do nothing lord but to exalt your name in the earth lord for the next few moments anoint your servant lord that at the end of this message we would see those come forward for baptism we would see those come forward to lay their burdens on the altar in the name of jesus i ask for anointing amen and amen you may be seated i want to minister to you this morning on the topic the story behind the verse this is often referred to in songwriting there's always a story behind the song and many times if you know the story it helps you to be able to identify and to appreciate the song if you know the story you know the story for example the the song it is well it is well it is well with my soul when you understand that that was inspired by a man that lost his family his wife his children in a shipwreck and they took him out to that place of where they believed the ship went down and there he penned the words it is well it is well it is well with my soul the song amazing grace and it goes on there's stories there's stories behind the song but there's also a story behind the verse we have often at this season heard both of these verses isaiah 7 14 and isaiah 9 and 6 we've heard them both one refers they were both fulfilled that the child that was given the virgin that conceived and bear a son they called his name emmanuel of which matthew gives us the interpretation of emmanuel which simply means god with us not only was jesus god but the next part of that verse should be emphasized also god came near to us i'm so glad that god came near but the story behind the verses the story behind the one verse if you would go back to isaiah chapter seven verse number one we will go down through these verses until we come to verse seven and my my heart's desire today is that when i'm done that you will have a greater appreciation for these two verses that i have read and that you hear so often at christmas time chapter seven verse number one of isaiah and it came to pass in the days of ahaz the son of jopham the son of uzziah king of judah that reason the king of syria and pika this the son of ramallah king of israel went up toward jerusalem to war against it but notice this but could not prevail against it i want to stop there and i want to let you know why ahaz was a very wicked man ahaz was vile ahaz was the king of judah ahaz was in the fleshly lineage of king david now god had made king david a promise that of his seed there would always be someone setting on the throne that god promised david that of your lineage of the fruit of your loins there'll always be a descendant to set on the throne now of course god's ultimate one to sit on the throne was when god would become flesh through the lineage of king david jesus christ merged divinity into the lineage of david so now in verse number one we have these wicked other kings that are coming to dethrone ahaz now the bible simply says but they could not and the reason they could not was because heaven and earth shall pass away but god's word will remain there is no one that has the power not even satan himself that can erase one promise of almighty god i don't care how many come against him i don't care what it looks like it has there is no one that can come against you and dethrone you because the bible just simply says at the end of verse 1 but could not prevail against it can i tell you the wicked kingdoms have not even got to ahaz yet they've not even they've not even fired one arrow they've not thrown one stone they've not marched one boot toward jerusalem to dethrone him but god simply says in verse 1 they could not prevail against him and the reason they could not is because when god says it that settles it some say when god says it i believe it and that settles it that's not accurate you need to take that off your bumper sticker it's not god says it i believe it that settles it it is god says it that settles it now whether i believe it or not it's lift up to me but when god says it that settles it i am so thankful today to preach to you a savior that when he says it that settles it circumstances doesn't change it time doesn't change it cultures doesn't change it haters doesn't change it it remains it remains the same let's go on down to verse 2. and it was told the house of david ahaz it was told the house of david saying syria is confederate with ephraim and his heart was moved and the heart of his people as the trees of the wood was moved were are moved with the wind now they come and they tell ahaz they come and they tell jerusalem they come and tell him that syria is coming and that they're going to dethrone you and they're going to take you away from this place and the bible says that fear struck them fear struck them i think is never before as never before we identify with fear as never before just as soon as one variant is gone here comes another one through and so we are living with a constant state of fear i don't know about you but shelves not being fully stocked in a grocery store concern me now you can say well don't you have faith absolutely i have faith but just because you have faith doesn't mean that some things don't concern you so we're we're we're we go the grocery store have to used to the meat was heaped up you could just you could just choose and things went on sale in the meat market that's a long time since so there's a lot of things that just come through and we can we can be honest with it today can't we can be transparent with it today this culture that we're preaching to brother perry is fighting fear more than ever before oh you don't know the fear of the economy oh you don't know the economy that's right and people know it's so good they know it's gonna burst sometime they know that this and the gas prices and all of these things in our world today a new variant coming down the line going to be going to be a winner of death and gloom and all this it's coming down the line can i tell you something today that cannot change it upon this rock you better get in the church because upon this rock i will build my church and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it you better get in the church i can't answer for a nation but i can answer for a church the church is going up in victory if you believe that would you give him a shout of praise the church the church is going up in victory but oh look at this they came and told the house of david they came and told the promise of god we're going to take you off the throne were going to remove you from jerusalem and his heart was moved and the and his heart verse number two and his heart was moved and the heart of his people as the trees of the wood are moved with the wind and describe the fear describe fear fear looks like a tree bowing to the wind back and forth with the fear comes a glimmer of hope but don't hope too much because i know the wind's going to blow you back the next way and the winds are blowing and that that's what they look like they were trembling well let me just hold your place there but let me go to luke chapter 21 verse 24 because as the end approaches as the end approaches fear will be the incense the aroma of the atmosphere fear luke chapter 21 verse 24 talks about the end the end of the world and it says in luke 21 24 and they shall fall by the edge of the sword luke 21 24 and they shall fall by the edge of the sword and shall be led away captive into all nations and jerusalem jerusalem shall be trodden down of the gentiles until the times of the gentiles be fulfilled spiritually this morning jerusalem spiritually is trodden down jerusalem is trodden down and has been since about 70 a.d for their rejection of jesus christ their rejection as a whole of the jewish people of jesus christ the bible describes that they have the jewish people as i speak have a veil upon their eyes that they they cannot they cannot fully as a nation accept him as savior now i'm not saying that jews cannot be saved today we've seen too many they have but as a whole the jewish nation does not accept jesus christ as savior they accept him as a prophet but they don't accept him as a savior the jewish people as a whole their bible ends their bible ends in malachi their bible does not have a new testament because they do not believe that jesus was their messiah their god in flesh and so because of that jerusalem is trodden down until the times of the gentiles be fulfilled what is the times of the gentiles the times of the gentiles when god turned turned from the jewish people and poured the gospel out upon the gentiles but the gentiles we are his bride the jewish people when they do accept him during the tribulation the jewish people are not his bride they are his people but they are not his bride the gentile people are referred to as the bride of christ we're referred to as the bride of christ but we have to look at something very important until the times of the gentiles be fulfilled because the gentiles have a clock and that clock is ticking and that clock will that clock will finally run out and when it does this event happens in a moment in the twinkling of an eye corruption will put on incorruption in a moment the lord shall descend from heaven with a shout and with the voice of the archangel and the trump of god and the dead in christ the dead in christ shall rise first and we which are alive but it don't stop there and remain it's not good enough just to be alive you better remain in this it's not good enough that you knew the lord years ago you better be current this morning those that are alive and remain shall be caught up together to meet the lord in the air and so shall we ever be with the lord wherefore comfort one another with these words can i tell you i can't comfort you to tell you gas prices are coming down i can't comfort to tell you that we're going to go back to meat in the market i can't comfort you with that but i can comfort you with this something that cannot be altered the lord is coming and we're going to be caught up together in the clouds goodbye world goodbye goodbye world goodbye oh love jesus with me this morning goodbye world goodbye oh don't you weep from me when i'm gone goodbye world goodbye times of the gentiles are fulfilled but what happens when the times of the gentiles are fulfilled look at verse 25 and there shall be signs in the sun and in the moon and in the stars and upon the earth distress of nations and perplexity with perplexity the sea and the waves roaring look at verse 26 tell me if this is not the prelude tell me if we're not living in the pre-lead of this men's hearts failing them for fear and for looking after those things which are coming on the earth for the powers of heaven shall be shaken and then shall they see the son of man coming in a cloud with power and great glory he comes for his church he does not come to the earth for his church he meet we meet him in the cloud in the in the sky in the clouds but the next coming truly and this is where there's a little misunderstanding with prophecy when i refer to the second coming of christ i'm not referring to to the rapture the second coming of christ is at the end of the seven years of tribulation when jerusalem of which cannot be destroyed it cannot be destroyed you will never destroy jerusalem oh i'm fearful everybody's turning their back on jerusalem let me tell you something they will all turn their back on jerusalem even the united states of america will turn their back on jerusalem but you see all they're doomed no they're not because there's a god that made a promise about jerusalem i said there's a god that made a promise about jerusalem so so when we begin to hear these nations against jerusalem and that nations against jerusalem you just wait you just wait this world you this way how this world is going to react when they rebuild the temple and they want to start again the talk is there in jerusalem the talk of starting the sacrificial offerings up again the talk is there you wait till they start sacrificing lambs and the world is made aware of blood you talk about you talk about irate tree huggers you talk about people that are going to go listen listen they have more compassion on a dog than they do a baby they have more compassion on an animal than they do a child oh when that happens and the world's going to turn its hate toward that and they're going to gather in the valley of megiddo and they're going to gather there from the sands of the sea and they're going to can pass around and it's going to look like church that it's the end of jerusalem you might have been born in 1947 in a miracle but you're going to die on this day and just before they begin to pull the first trigger or launch the first missile from the sky there'll come a crackling sound and they'll look up there and here he'll come riding on a conquering horse he's got a torrent two edges sword out of his mouth and behind him are the saints of the living god whoa hallelujah hallelujah hallelujah if i didn't really want to preach i'd run an aisle this morning the bible said then we shall look upon him whom we have pierced and there shall be a fountain opened in jerusalem and in that day there shall be one lord and his name is one oh hallelujah fear fear men's hearts feel it failing them for fear fear fear they were trying to re their with they were trying to resolve the circumcised the circumcision issue in the book of acts because there were those that believed in acts 2 38 but add circumcision to it there were those that came along and they said they said that that yes it is water birth yes it is spirit birth but you've got to also be circumcised the 15th chapter of the book of acts has the first council of the jeru of the church led by uh james and james uh heard the plea they they begin to tell about gentiles receiving the holy ghost they begin to tell about gentiles that were baptized and of course at the end of the day james spoke and said we will accept the gentiles tell them to abstain from fornication and meats that are not properly drained of blood but then later on james said this in james 15 and verse 14 speaking about the gentiles coming into the church james says simeon hath declared how god at the first did visit the gentiles to do what take out of them what for his for his name because a bride gets the name of the groom the jewish people are not going to get that name but we're the bride i'm glad to be the bride today i'm glad i'm glad well let's travel on let's try it let's go back to isaiah let's go back to isaiah their hearts are moved they resemble trees lashing full back and forth by the wind verse 3 then said the lord unto isaiah you know the main voice you need to hear when your tree is blowing back and forth you need to hear the lord then said the lord unto isaiah go forth now and meet ahaz and shisha of thy son at the end of the conduit of the upper pool and the highway of the fuller's field now that means something because ahaz was securing his water supply because brother hammond they're going to seize us we're going to be besieged and we've got to have water we got to have this thing you know it's natural when trouble comes to try to secure yourself but don't get so caught up in what you can do that you fail to see what god can do he's up there checking out the water and making sure the water is going to flow right here comes isaiah verse and say unto him take heed it means pay attention i guess in this day that's a good lesson right there isn't it you know when trouble comes you need to pay attention and take heed take heed and be quiet fear not neither be faint-hearted for the two tales of these smoking firebrands you know what god said there are already trees cut down and i've set the stump on fire i've already taken care of them you're so afraid because you're looking up at all these kings and god said i already cut them down and i set their stump on fire there's not even going to be a remembrance of them when i get done with them said be quiet be quiet don't be faint-hearted fear not for these smoking fire brands for the fierce anger of resin with syria and of the son of remaliah because syria ephraim and the son of remalia have taken evil counsel against thee saying in other words don't be moved by what you're hearing because i've already told you in verse 1 they will not prevail don't be moved by what folks let's let our bibles be louder than our news let's let our bibles be louder than our oh let's let our bibles move us more than the news verse 6. let us go up against you here's what they're saying here's what the enemy is saying let us go up against judah and mix it and let us make a breach therein for us and said a king here's it here it is here it is it's all thing we want to take the king that's of the lineage of david but you can't do that because god made a promise we want to take and set a king in the midst of it even the son of pable table thus now let me let me let me let me let me talk about that because i got to get you to see that because you the the verse means nothing if we don't see this we're going to disrupt a promise of god we are nations and we're going to come and we're going to remove ahaz who has a promise upon him not based upon his good works not based upon how righteous he's living because he's none of that but the promise of god is greater than our behavior i said the promise of god is greater now i'm not advocating that we sin i'm not advocating we sin i am saying if you found yourself in a fallen state don't allow the enemy to tell you don't allow them to come around and say it'll never be like it once was you'll never get it what you once had and you you know everybody's talking it's always going to be this when god has a promise on your life god's promise cannot be altered by the enemy oh we're going to remove you no you're not you're not going to remove me because god made a promise to david that of the loins of his loins there would always be someone to sit on the throne but that's what they were saying verse 7 thus saith the lord god it shall not stand neither shall it come to pass i think it'd be good for us to all say that verse together because it seems like me god's just a little bit ticked all right sounds like me god's just a little bit old no that ain't going to happen now i'm going to tell you something when your mom and daddy fight for you listen you don't want to get in between a mama and a child they get furious you know when you get to daddy and a boy we get furious oh don't sit there like you're so sanctified you know exactly what i'm talking about my little kid kathy remembers this a little kid i'm about 13 years old smart male cocky little boy had a little honda xl100 had me an evil knievel motorcycle helmet all right i mean i didn't just have a motor i had an evil knievel one thing come up and down i went in brother harvey to a little convenience store one day had my little evel knievel motorcycle helmet on and the man behind the counter the icy machine had broke and cherry coca-cola i see was fuming everywhere and i started horse laughing this guy which made him mad and he reached out and he grabbed me by my evil and evil helmet he turned it this way and that way and you know now these are things years ago before christ so i wasn't big enough to fight him so i didn't do nothing he turned my helmet this way that way that way he shook me up so i went home and by chance told my mama and my mama took me back down there and my mama walked me in and my mama told him some things i can't tell you today publicly all right i gotta tell you something today when the enemy starts picking with you your father gets upset because you are sister alice the apple of god's eye when the world starts messing with us i got news for you and i'll just play with this verse for just a little bit but we hear very often we hear very often jesus is seated on the right hand jesus is seated on the right hand but when they stone stephen stephen looked up into heaven and said i see jesus standing on the right hand he ain't sitting here you know why because you're about to lay your hand on one of my children and when you get ready to lay your hand on one of my children i'm going to stand up who wouldn't want to be in the church matter of fact you're not in your right mind if you don't want to be in the church you you can't be in your right mind and not want to i'm so glad i'm in the church because when something comes against me my heavenly father steps out and says no no no no no no no not this one not not this one right no no no no not this one i got to read it again verse 7 thus saith the lord god it shall not stand neither shall it come to pass he said it ain't going to happen now watch god prophesy he can prophesy for the head of syria's damascus and the head of damascus is reason and with and within re look follow me now listen to god prophesy and within three score and five years shall ephraim be broken that it shall not be a people and the head of ephraim is samaria and the head of samaria is remaliah's son if if ye will not believe if you will not believe surely ye shall not be established now you know what god just prophesied god just prophesied and said in 65 years they're not even going to be around why in the world do we make decisions about our lives for something that's not even going to be around 65 years from now why do we allow the adversary to alter us change us cause us to make uh less than smart uh decisions better known as stupid decisions why do we in the world allow the enemy to do things to us and tomorrow it's not even gonna be here god's goddess church let's stay in the hollow of his hand let's stay in the embrace of his arms let's not allow anything to move us you can't get offended and leave the church i didn't say you couldn't get offended just don't leave the church stay in the house of god keep singing the songs of zion don't make those decisions i promise you you will regret it god said they're not even going to be here 65 years from now but now watch this watch this he says to ahaz he says to ahaz in verse number nine now watch it and the head of ephraim is samir the head of samaria is remolai's son now he speaks to he speaks to ahaz now if you will not believe surely ye shall not be established everything hinges on how we believe god just prophesied it but now he looks at ahaz and he says but if you don't believe this you won't be established verse number 10 moreover the lord spake again unto ahaz saying ask of thee a sign of the lord thy god ask it either in the depth or in the height above god says i've made you a promise i've made you a promise he said now ask a sign to back up the promise ask of me a sign i made you a promise the enemy's not going to be and and you're going to be established if you believe now that you believe ask for a sign and he said verse 13. or excuse me verse number 12. but a has said i will not ask neither will i tempt the lord now i'm going to tell you this this is phariseeism at its best this is false piety is it at its best god said you just ask me for a sign i'll give you a sign and he steps up and he says no i don't require a sign i know what's in my heart i will not tempt the lord i i know now this is a false don't don't be don't be taken by his language because he's a man that doesn't want a sign that validates god's word why is it that people today fight signs in the bible why is it they fight signs why why do they fight certain signs they fight it so much well let's just travel down just for a moment he says i i don't want to sign oh no i don't want to sign i don't want to tempt the lord i believe what you say i want to attempt the lord watch how the lord the lord sees straight through his pharisees see straight straight through this false piety verse 13 and he said hear ye now o house of david is it a small thing for you to weary men but will ye weary my god also were you weary i'm weary with this with your life therefore the lord himself shall give you a sign you don't want to sign i'm going to give you one anyway you see a has rejected a sign and god says i'm acquainted with rejection i'll be a man that's rejected he is a god that has been rejected our society is full of rejection of god but god said i made man a promise and if you don't want to sign you're going to get one anyway therefore the lord himself shall give you a sign behold a virgin shall conceive and bear a son and shall call his name emmanuel can i tell you now i know the story behind the verse means a whole lot more to me now that i see he gave us a sign because of rejection man rejected him and god said i'm well acquainted with rejection but i'll give you a sign that a virgin will conceive do you understand this they fight the virgin birth and the reason they fight the virgin birth and they're so silly i don't even want to much talk about it but they say that the word virgin can can refer to a young maiden but that don't even make any sense because how could a sign be from god that a young girl got pregnant that happens so commonly but that word virgin can also mean a woman that has never known a man and that's the sign because if you remove the virgin birth from jesus he's just any other man but god says i'm going to be birthed in bethlehem's manger i'm going to take my promise coupled with deity put it into the womb of humanity and when that that baby is born that baby will be the lord jesus christ adonai the first and the last jehovah god with us now they fight signs they fight signs signs are fault today among religion signs are fault but i'm so thankful for one sign today i am thankful for the sign of the gift of the infilling of the holy ghost i am glad this morning to stand here and tell you that some years ago god filled me with the holy ghost and when god filled me with the holy ghost my tongue spoke a language that it did not know you say what was that it was the sign that the holy ghost had come inside of me i am glad for that sign today don't ever get weary don't get caught up in this world today that wants to say i know what's in my heart stop fighting the sign god wants to give you a sign and that sign is the gift of the holy ghost stop fighting let me take you through a few verses of scripture isaiah chapter 28 verse 19 verse nine would you just praise god with me this morning come on would you just praise god with me this morning oh hallelujah hallelujah be to the lamb of god oh listen to the old testament listen to the old testament isaiah in isaiah 28 verse number 9 whom shall he teach knowledge and whom shall he make to understand doctrine them that are winged from milk and drawn from breast for precept must be upon precept and precept upon precept and line up online and line up online and hear a little in their little four with stammering lips and another tongue will he speak to this people to whom he said this is the rest wherewith you may cause the weary to rest and this is the refreshing yet they would not hear can i tell you this morning that god has a beautiful sign of speaking in other tongues as the indicator the initial evidence that the holy ghost has come down inside of you it amazes me the scholars that have tried to explain away this verse scholars have written and said that what that other tongue stammering lips and another tongue refer to was the syrian assyria and syrian kings that were going to come and punish israel and said that god's gonna punish you through the tongues of another nation that doesn't make any sense at all when put under the microscope of the bible if speaking another language was the judgment of of of other nations then the bible says in verse 12 to whom he said this is the rest wherewith he must cause the weary to rest i don't know about you but being attacked by an enemy doesn't sound like rest it doesn't sound like rest because it was at rest but it was god's saying i'm gonna put my spirit in you it's going to come little by little whom shall i whom shall i teach knowledge and whom shall i make to understand doctrine those that are winged from the breast those that are not content any more than just knowing that jesus is the savior that's elementary although it's needed it's elementary but you don't stay in the first grade when you meet him you get in the bible and it's here a little and it's there a little and it's lined up online and precept upon precept and then it's with stammering lips and another tongue that god begins to speak oh hallelujah to god that sign jesus carried it on in mark chapter 16 verse 15 mark 16 verse 15 listen to jesus and he said unto them go into all the world and preach the gospel to every creature he that believeth and is baptized shall be saved but he that believeth not shall be damned and these signs i'm here to tell you and the lord himself shall give you a sign god is in the sign business he's in the sign business if you believe he wants to give you a sign he doesn't want to give you a sign to believe he wants to give you a sign after you believe your your believing has to do with your faith he doesn't give you a sign so you can believe but he will give you a sign after you believe he that believeth and is baptized shall be saved notice that doesn't read he that believeth is saved should be baptized is he that believeth and is saved shall be he that believeth and is baptized shall be saved but he that believeth not shall be damned you say but it doesn't add either it doesn't say and is not baptized it listen the reason it doesn't say and is not baptized because if you don't believe it doesn't matter if you're baptized you go in uh you go in a dry center and you come up a wet center there's nothing that happens to you if you do not you do not believe he that believeth and is baptized shall be saved he that believeth not shall be damned these signs shall follow them that believe in my name they shall cast out devils notice in my name is going to send a ripple effect through the demonic spiritual principality era in that name they're going to cast out devils they shall speak with new tongues they shall take up serpents and if they drink any deadly thing it shall not hurt them they shall lay hands on the sick and they shall recover one of the signs is they will speak with new tongues this happened a few days later on the day of pentecost in acts chapter 2 verse number 1 through 4 and when the day of pentecost was fully come they were all with one accord in one place and suddenly there came a sound from heaven as of a rushing mighty wind it filled all the house where they were sitting and there appeared unto them cloven tongues like as a fire and it set up on each of them are you listening this morning are you listening this morning and they were all filled with the holy ghost and begin to speak with other tongues as the spirit gave them utterance god is into giving a sign if you'll believe it sometime later this is where you and i we have to thank god for the 10th chapter of the book of acts this is where we came into the church a gentile by the name of cornelius in acts chapter 10 verse 44 a gentile cause for peter peter comes and preaches the death burial and resurrection of the lord jesus christ and while peter yet spake these words the holy ghost fell on all them which heard the word and they of the circumcision which believed were astonished as medias came with peter because that on the gentiles also was poured out the gift of the holy ghost are you following now for they heard them speak with other tongues and magnify god can i tell you when you go by a lot that you hear in christianity today can i tell you a third person didn't fall on cornelius house a third person didn't fall but a god who is holy fell upon them and when they believe the death burial and resurrection of jesus christ the holy ghost fell on them and they begin to speak come on praise him thank you lord for they heard them speak with tongues and magnify god then answered peter can any man forbid water that these should not be baptized which have received the holy ghost as well as we that puts to death the false doctrine that only the jews on the day of pentecost got the holy ghost as well as we verse 48 and peter said when there is a certain number worthy of filling up the baptismal pool peter said if you really want to do this it's not essential it'd be a good idea you could publicly show your faith oh god help me commanded commanded now cornelius brother poole is a soldier he is very well acquainted with commands in the army they don't say if you you know if you'd like to sleep in a little early if not you got to be out here on the front line preacher i'm glad to be in an apostolic congregation acts chapter 19 verse number one brother carpenter i had an experience with god that's wonderful brother carpenter someone told me about the lord jesus that's wonderful but what if they didn't tell you enough acts chapter 19 verse number one came to pass that while apollos was at corinth paul having passed through the upper coast came to ephesus and finding certain disciples he said unto them have ye received the holy ghost since you believed that right there puts to death the false doctrine that once you believe upon the lord jesus christ you have automatically given the holy ghost have you received the holy ghost since you believed and they said unto him we have not so much has heard whether there be any holy ghost and he said unto them unto what then were you baptized what was the purpose of your baptism baptism has a purpose what was the purpose of your baptism and they said he said what was the purpose until what then were you baptized and they said unto john's baptism oh i can see paul having an aha moment oh i see because all john's baptism done we did was to show that you have repented of your sins and that you were looking forward to the messiah to come that's all it did you're baptized it says i repented of my sins matter of fact john's baptism although it's in the new testament is old testament baptism there's only one baptism in the new testament church and it wasn't john's john simply baptized saying you were believing upon one which is to come and that you have repented of your sins then said paul john barely baptized with the baptism of repentance saying unto the people that they should believe on him which should come after him that is on christ jesus when they heard this they were baptized in the name of the lord jesus paul laid his hands upon them the holy ghost came on them and they spoke with tongues and prophesied should i be re-baptized can i answer that for you today should i be re-baptized if you was not baptized calling out the name of the lord jesus christ for the remission of your sins you were not baptized correctly according to the new testament but you don't know what i felt can i say this again if you are not baptized has nothing to do with your emotions i'm glad you stood in the creek and you gave your heart to god and you had a moment i i don't doubt that you didn't have a moment but god has not raised the apostolic church up to tell you you don't have anything it's to say get drawn from the breast so that line can be upon line and precept can be upon precept because the emotion of joy of sins being forgiven cannot compare with the emotion of joy unspeakable and full of great glory i'm glad i got the holy ghost i'm glad i got the holy ghost sure my sins were forgiven over 40 years ago i'm thankful for that but i'm not living 40 years ago i'm living in right now today and i'm glad that i've got the gift of the holy ghost the story behind the verse and i'll end with this first corinthians 14 18 writer of over half the new testament bible the apostle paul first corinthians 14 18. i thank my god i speak with tongues more than you all i'm so glad he's given us a sign i'm so glad for the baptism of the holy ghost i don't have time to go to isaiah 9 6. i don't i don't because i'd like to gather you in the altar and let us love on god for a few moments there may be someone here today that's going to come down the altar and say could i be baptized well let me just go ahead and tell you these rooms up here are clothes that'll fit you and rooms up here are undergarments that will fit you in rooms up here is everything you need to be baptized all we need is for you to come forward and say i want to be baptized in his name this morning oh i do wish i had time but i don't to tell you the story behind isaiah nine and six but it has to do with a battle verses one through five talks about a battle a battle isaiah 9 and 6 or isaiah 9 and 5 sums it up all the all the six all the five verses talk about a battle talks about a heart it talks about something being harvested out of the out of the ground and it talks about a battle it simply says in verse 5 for every battle of a warrior is with confused noise and garments rolled in blood but this shall be with burning and fuel of the fire it was a custom if you came home from battle bloody stained garments that part of your rejoicing if you won that battle was to burn those uniforms it was a celebration because i'm going to put on another garment that won't have one blood stain on it it's a garment that will identify me as a conqueror if i win the battle i burn the garments rolled in blood fuel for the fire and we watch those garments go up in smoke and then the bible says of course this was typology of jesus christ his blood-stained body his blood-stained garments with a fuel for the fire because the next verse i'm so thankful please hear this today jesus wants to help you jesus wants to help you oh he does he is a conqueror he has conquered all things jesus wants to help you this morning he wants to help you he's rolled his garment in blood he won the battle he defeated death hell and the grave he made a show of them openly and embarrassed the adversary because three days later that virgin birth savior came out of that tomb victorious over death hell and the grave and because the garments have been burned for unto us a child is born unto us a son is given and his name shall be called wonderful counselor the mighty god the everlasting father the prince of peace i'm so thankful for the name of jesus would you stand with me right now church would you pray father i love you this morning come on church all over this building you know we can little earlier that sometimes prayer request is a time we bring negative if we can use the word negative we just bring burdens we bring burdens to god i'd like to end today by having a unified concentrated prayer it's during the holiday season that more people will turn to alcohol and drugs to try to drown a life of misery a life of heartache and it's sad to say that not only will some turn to a lot to drugs and alcohol that it can take their lives others will just simply choose this as a season that they cannot cope and they will end their life we know that the prince and the power of the air just as we're here today we're here to direct you in the the direction of the life-giver the prince and the principalities of the air is to direct them to death could we disrupt the principalities over our city today would you believe with me that we can pray a prayer that it could send a spiritual mushroom cloud into the sky over our city oh god help us lord i bind in the name of jesus christ the voices of death and destruction that would speak into the minds of women and men and young people lord jesus i ask god that you would let there be a holy hedge around blount county
