i want you to turn with me to john chapter 14 verse 7 or john chapter 14 verse 6 john chapter 8 verse 31 but while you're looking for those passages of scripture sister erickson i was thinking i was singing with you all today and i was thanking god and then i began to uh thank god for the music and how relevant how relevant the music is how relevant it is many years ago we used to sing a song it says he doth direct my bark he does safely keep anybody ever sing that song he direct my bark he does safely keep and for the longest time the only thing i could equate to that song was a dog barking and i thought well lord we're barking out praises here he'd direct my bark and somebody told me that's a old word for boat all right ship he direct my boat he does safely keep well i'm so thankful today such relevant singing that just leads us into the presence of almighty god in this place that we can just lift our hands and like soaking in a sunshine we can just soak in the power and the presence of god do you love to worship the lord this morning do you love to worship the lord this morning i want to give praise and honor this morning we've got a precious family here that um is going to be baptized this morning precious man brother going to be baptized now listen to this now the next time you think that during the holiday seasons we need to cancel church for the whole week um this precious brother went to the sevierville campus on tuesday night thank god we were having church and brother naomi taught and brother name he taught him a bible study and he's here this morning with an open honest heart we're going to bury him in jesus name in a few moments now i'm looking forward i'm looking forward to that if you have your bibles john chapter 14 verse number 6 would you just read out loud with me today would you read it out loud with me jesus saith unto him i am the way the truth and the life no man cometh unto the father but by me awesome reading today let me read john 8 31 then said jesus to those jews which believed on him if you continue in my word then are ye my disciples in deed or in action and you shall what would do this let's start all reading together again there verse 32 let's read verse 32 together and ye shall know the truth and the truth shall make you free i started a series last sunday i'll be home for christmas i want to minister today on the subject of truth under the tree truth under the tree put your bibles down just worship god let's pray father i love you i thank you this morning for this day i thank you lord for the structure of the church how god that you've orchestrated that we would have a meeting place and that we would come together and sing songs and glorify you and hear your word and see people get touched by your spirit lord i declare that this will be a day of a turnaround in the name of jesus today i'm believing you lord through the ministry of brother covey lord that this is going to be a day that will be marked on our calendar that lord you turn things around on this day i believe god that you're going to do great in mighty things in jesus name i pray and everybody said amen amen you may be seated um truth under the tree and we all know as we wrap the presents and we put them under the tree and uh on that christmas morning whenever you open presents or christmas eve or the day before christmas or four days before chris whenever whenever your family or if you have kind of like the carpenters hammonds and ericksons we have a whole week of it all right we just have a whole week got curious grandchildren and children that reach and get the wrapped up gift not alone here emma they reach and get that wrapped up gift and tell me what it is no i'm not going i would have wrapped it if you i would have spent the money to have it wrapped if i was going to tell you you know and of course little curious grandkids will go in there and tear pieces of paper off or whatever you know because it's all it's all wrapped up it's all concealed so that it will be a surprise to you when you wake when you wake up well you know as i study the bible god has a gift for you that's wrapped up you don't really know what it is but you know if it comes from god you know one thing i'm going to tell you something all my children my spouse my grandbabies know one thing if there's a president of that tree it's good might not be what you want but you can know if it's under the tree it's good how do i know it's good because of who it comes from now the bible tells us that god says this about his gifts every good and perfect gift cometh down from the father of lights of whom there is no verbalness or shadow of turning so god has a gift for all of us today it's not just the gift of the holy ghost it's not just the gift of the spirits the spirit god has a gift for us today and it's his will for your life it's his will for your life may be wrapped up and you you don't know what it is but just hold on to it because also the reason you need to understand the bible is that god has a gift wrapped up for you in truth it's in truth how can i find out about this gift how can i find out this gift of god you tell me that god has a will for my life god has a plan for my life how can i find this out truth truth will reveal it now what we have to be careful of is there's another one that would like to give you a gift and it's not a good gift it's not a good gift god wants to give you truth he said i am the way the truth he also said that that the truth would that the truth would make us free that would make us free i thought brother hammond did just an excellent job thursday night at bringing out clarity about that verse the truth will make us free but what we've got to be careful about in life because there are both on a spiritual channel satan wants to give you something wrapped but it's not truth it's a lie it's a lie turn with me if you would to revelation chapter 21 and verse number five revelation chapter 21 verse number five this is john the revelator he is in heaven seeing things that are coming to pass in our very days and john the revelator in revelation 21 5 says these words and he that set up on the throne said everybody says said he that set up on the throne said behold i make all things new and he said unto me write for these words are true and faithful and he said unto me it is done i am alpha and omega the beginning and the end i will give unto him that is a thirst of the fountain of the water of life freely he that overcometh shall inherit all things i will be his god and he shall be my son now i don't know about you but as far as i've read right now i want to fall into that category i want to fall into this category i want god to be my father and i want to be a son and i want to drink of the fountain of the water of life freely i want to i want to always be found drinking of his spirit enjoying the presence of god now here's where i don't want to fit in verse 8 but the fearful but the fearful and there's a lot of fear in our world today there's a lot of anxiety in our in our in in our world today and you just have to stand flat-footed sister or and declare i am not going to live in fear i am not going to live in fear it's hard to get good news nowadays because it's just riddled with things that may be true may not be true i refuse to live i refuse to live in fear you know why fear breeds anxiety people die because of that people lose their minds they're fearful and and and right now there's just so much things going on in our in in in the united states the supply chain and and you know we just get over a a one uh one new uh variant of this covet and boom here comes another one here comes another our way and i've described this to you before i am not going to live in ignorance i'm not out here licking doorknobs all right but neither am i going to live in perpetual fear of what may happen because my bible i opened up a gift from my heavenly father i opened up a gift under the tree from my heavenly father and it said this right here god hath not given you the spirit of fear but of help me now but a power in a sound mind but the fearful this is where i i want to get off the boat right here but the fearful and unbelieving notice what fearfulness breeds what does it breed unforgive unbelie you don't believe fearfulness breeds you not believing in the scripture well man we got this pla supply chain all messed up but pastor we might go hungry one day i don't believe so why because i opened up another scripture i've never seen the righteous forsaken nor his seed begging bread can i tell you hasn't god done it before any of you all ever been to the place you didn't have enough money to pay the bills but somehow out of nowhere came a check in the mail right i heard a story years ago of a christian woman that prayed real loud that she lived in a neighborhood that had a just little shotgun houses stacked right beside each other she would pray real loud well she was right beside an atheist and he didn't like hearing her pray and he was always trying to prove to her there was no god and and so she got to she got hungry she got to praying for groceries she said now lord you know everything's empty here but god would you please send me some groceries and he thought man i'm i'm gonna prove once and for all this old crazy woman there is no god so he went and bought some groceries and put it on her front porches atheists did and stood around the corner and watched a woman came out and seen them groceries she started praising god he stepped out from the hedges and he said you old full woman god didn't bring you them groceries i did and about that time she went to shout like she had never shouted before and he said didn't you hear me fool woman i said i brought him so how come you still shout and she said i knew god was good but said i didn't know he was so good he could have the devil deliver my groceries here on the front porch can i tell you god his promises are true today his blood still does cleanse the sinner and his blood cleanses the sake there is still hope for the church well let me travel on this morning but the fearful and unbelieving and the abominable and murderers and whoremongers and sorcerers and idolaters read the last three these three words with me and man i'm going to chase something all liars all liars shall have their part in the lake which burneth with fire and brimstone which is the second death all liars whereas sometimes i hear people say laura oh all liars are lars all right all of them how many how many liars are going to hell huh do you know what the greek word for all is oh oh all liars now keep that in mind satan is a liar and the father of lies the bible calls satan a murderer jesus said you are a murderer well who did satan murder it's not who satan murdered it's what he murdered when god gave adam and eve truth in the garden it was truth they would still be alive today had they believed and obeyed truth truth is do not eat of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil that's truth what did satan come and do satan brought a lie and murdered the truth satan put to death that truth that god had given adam and eve and because of that we have death and so when he came to listing those that would be in hell he comes to liars and he says all liars all liars he talked about uh unbelieving and whoremongers and sorcerers and idolaters and then he comes and he is he just says all liars all liars now turn with me to second thessalonians chapter two verse number eight second second thessalonians chapter two verse number eight speaking of the end of time and the antichrist paul is writing because the church at thessalonica had believed a lie that the lord had already returned and so he's writing to them about future events and he says then shall that wicked be revealed whom the lord shall consume with the spirit of his mouth and shall destroy with the brightness of his coming even him who's coming is after the working of satan all right and he says the antichrist is going to match up with satan he's going to he's going to match up with satan who's working who's coming is after the working of satan how to certain how does satan work with all power signs and lying wonders and with all deceivableness of unrighteousness in them that perish because they receive not the love of the truth that they might be saved and for this cause god shall send them strong delusion that they should believe a lie that they all might be damned who believed not the truth but had pleasure in unrighteousness now here's what you've got to understand today what are you believing are you believing truth or are you believing alive make sure because you can only find truth in the bible can only find truth in the bible the lie can sound like the truth it can almost if you get your mind out of the bible it can almost sound like the truth now i studied last week or we studied last week about joseph and how joseph was an old testament typology of jesus christ and i have something i have something i'd like to share with you right now about about joseph and jesus the parallel um some of you may want me you may want me to give this to you after church and i would be glad to give this to you joseph was an old testament type of jesus christ in the new testament joseph was loved dearly by his father joseph was a shepherd of his father's sheep so was jesus joseph was sent by his father to his brothers so was jesus joseph was hated by his brothers so was jesus they plotted to harm joseph so was jesus joseph was tempted so was jesus joseph was taken to egypt so was jesus joseph's robe was taken from him so was jesus joseph was sowed for the price of a slave so was jesus joseph was bound in chains so was jesus joseph was falsely accused so was jesus joseph was placed with two other prisoners the baker and the butler one was saved and one died jesus was placed between two thieves one was saved and one was lost joseph began his ministry at 30 years of age so was jesus joseph was exalted on high after suffering so was jesus joseph forgave them that wronged him so did jesus joseph saved his nation so did jesus joseph's mentality was what you meant for evil god meant for good so was jesus christ isn't it wonderful today how this bible fits together in wonderful typology could you give him a hand of praise right now now follow me in your bible this morning go to genesis chapter 39. joseph has been sold by his brothers he has been taken down to egypt and the bible says and joseph now who's joseph don't forget who joseph is a type of joseph is a type of truth joseph is a type of jesus christ he is a type of truth could you say that word with me truth today would you say it truth all right how about on the count of three say the word truth one two three truth joseph is a type of truth but what hinges on him working for your life i want to ask you a question how are you treating truth he's a type of truth let's begin to read joseph was brought down to egypt potter for an officer of pharaoh captain of the guard an egyptian bought him of the hands of the ishmaelites which had brought him down thither and the lord was with joseph and he was a prosperous man and he was in the house of his master the egyptian now i want you to look at two things god is always with truth god is always with truth that's why anointing comes when a man preaches truth because the bible says and the lord was with joseph because joseph is the truth and the lord was with him but not only is the lord with him look at the word and he was a what kind of man a prosperous man a prosperous man see a lot of times a lie is that you've had an event to happen in your life that's crippled you you've had an event that's happened in your life that made you a victim mentality i don't know about you but you could really get a victim mentality when your brother sold you but god the truth is the truth is god can use the adversities of your life turn them around and make them good if you'll believe the truth if wherever you find yourself at if you'll just begin to realize i'm one of god's children if i've done wrong which of yeah i'm one of god's children but i've done wrong well listen he has made provision for you the cross the blood the the forgiveness the believing do you believe he forgives i not only believe that god listen if i if i didn't believe this i'd go out of my mind i don't really believe that god has blood to cleanse the sinner but i believe that god has blood to cleanse the sin and just like the blood we believe all the church is what the sinner needs let him come let her come the church is what a sinner needs i believe the church is what the saint needs and sometimes saints god's people commit sin but your life doesn't have to be over there's power you don't have to turn into a victim joseph didn't turn into a victim the bible said and the lord was with him and the lord was with him and he was a prosperous man you know what the you know what the word prosper means it means to advance that's what the word prosper means in the greek or hebrew it means to advance it means to go forward to advance there's some people that have events happen to them and it freezes their life forever it happened 30 years ago and they're still talking about it like it happened three days ago because they're froze in that time and god cannot carry them into their future because of what their brothers did to them but thank god truth will triumph sell truth put it in the put it in the pit the lord was with joseph and he prospered in all of his ways how many want to be a victor and not a victim how many want to be a victor verse number three and his master saw that the lord was with him and that the lord made all that he did to prosper in his hand let me show you this now i don't believe we're a good witness to the world when they are at work or at the restaurant they're always overhearing us talk about what happened years ago did you understand what it said how did i i don't mean that i mean why does this mean am i communicating right how did a heathen egyptian man know the lord was with him there had to be something about his behavior that egyptian potiphar did not know the lord he is a pagan worshiping egyptian you don't believe in the god of abraham he is a pagan worship heathen how did that pagan worshiping heathen look at joseph and saw that the lord was with him and that the lord made all that he did there's that word again to what prosper i believe joseph wasn't talking every minute about how much he'd been done wrong i don't believe he was talking to every man i believe that he accepted where he was at and he made the best with what he had to do but the lord was with him and through a season of time potiphar heath and pagan looks at him and says there's something different i've bought a lot of slaves i've bought a lot of people but there's something different about this joseph there's something different can i tell you you may have visited a lot of churches but there is something different about a truth church there's something just different about a church that has no error of doctrine in it there's just something different about a group of people and friend when the world years ago saw this church in a little building on on mcginley street they didn't think much about it but now this church is a a sign it's a beacon and a witness in our community for the glory of jesus christ it is a witness and it is a beacon the lord now this heathen pagan sees this and the bible says in verse 4 and joseph found grace in his sight and he served him and he potiphar made him overseer over his house and all that he had he put into his hand and it came to pass now follow real closely because there's a trend i bought a slave i bought a servant you know go bring the cows in go shut the barn door go clean out the stable go do all this but after i see there's something different about you at first i just gave you the key to the barn here here's the key to the barn that's the only key i got a big ring of keys here they fit the house they fit where i got all my gold in my my my my four-wheeler chariot you know i got all that this right here this key over here fits all my shotgun this the safe and all that here you can have the key to the barn but as he kept seeing the lord was with him he kept sliding them keys off here you can have until finally he just said look i'm gonna make you overseer over all my house now what's he making overseer over his house what did i say joseph was joseph is what truth right joseph represents what truth so he hands truth the keys to everything he has because it's all symbolic he hands he ends truth he ends truth the keys verse 5 follow this and it came to pass from the time that he had made him overseer in his house and over all that he had look at this that the lord blessed the egyptians house for joseph's sake oh friend now joseph potiphar bought a slave but because he elevated truth in his life now all of a sudden my house gets blessed now all of a sudden i got a blessing now i understand i just got this guy that looks like everything he does it prospers now i just made him i made him the overseer of my house and all of a sudden pharaoh's got this spirit in his house that he can't describe all of a sudden things in potiphar's life all of a sudden potiphar's got got this calmness in his family i'm going to tell you blessing doesn't always come in the form of material things sometimes blessing can come in the form of contentment it can come in the form of contentment i i it it can come in the form of just being happy it can come in the form of just being thankful and all of a sudden potiphar's getting up in the morning and said you know what i don't know why i feel so good but i just feel so good i i honey i you know everything's just going good i just feel like everything is going my way he didn't know it but it was going his way because he had made truth the overseer he had made truth the overseer and the bible says and it came to pass from the time that he had made him overseer in his house and over all that he had that the lord blessed the egyptian's house for joseph's sake and the blessing of the lord was upon all that he had look at this i'm not i'm not really out there on a limb with this what did he bless all that he had in the what in the house things are not going your way maybe it's not a job change you need maybe it's a blessing you need but you don't get blessing in a prayer line you get blessing when you put truth over your house you get blessing when that's over your house well i i can't seem listen i i can't seem to make ends meet i've i've always got too much too much a month and i've got money things never go my way i submit to you you need to ask yourself a question in financial trouble you need to ask yourself the question is truth over my finances it's truth over my finances well my marriage of this and then you need to ask yourself a question are you treating your spouse the way truth tells you to treat them well i just don't have any friends well i want to ask you a question are you are you looking for him like truth says to look for him so he had he had he was blessed with everything he had in his house in this field watch verse six and he left all that he had everybody say all and he left all that he had in joseph's hand joseph represents jesus christ right anybody ever seen them put something in jesus hand it turn out good i do know that they needed to feed about 25 000 people one day and all they had was a lad's lunch but he said put it in my hand he said put it in my hand and he said he said i am the truth he said bring me what's not enough that's what you need to do you need to bring god what's not enough put what's not enough in god's hands and when they put what wasn't enough in god's hand he blessed it and broke it and multiplied it because it was put in his hand you don't have joy why don't you put what you got in his hand you'll be bopped to everything on the radio why don't you just put a little joy into god's hand and bebop a little bit to the music here i don't know about you but there's been some pretty wonderful things put in the hand of jesus christ and it came out good well i said i don't have anything good to put in his hand well listen that was something put in his hand one day that wasn't good it was called a nail it's called a nail and that nail print in his hand when you get to heaven if you have any problem identifying jesus christ just shake hands with him because he kept those nail prints in his hand in his glorified body that he could have changed into any glorified body form that he wanted to he said i'm keeping the nail prints in the hands because i want it to be an ever reminder throughout eternity that i'm able to take something bad that goes i'm able to take not enough and i'm able to take something that's bad in my hand and turn it out for good thank god for the nail prints in his hands he left all that he had in joseph's hand and he knew not all he had saved the bread which he did eat and joseph was a goodly person and well-favored don't waste your time studying commentaries on this because they don't they'll they'll just say this is a verse that they try to they try to excuse away the word save he he knew he he just he just put everything in his hands and let me read it again and he knew not all he had he put everything in his hands he put everything in his and he really didn't know all that joseph had which he had he put everything in his hands and he didn't know all he had he didn't know everything he had sister carpenter potiphar didn't know all that he had because he just trusted he trusted in truth he really knew all he had but he just trusted in truth but then it says it says and he knew not ought he had saved that were saved there means except the bread which he did eat now that's that i give the man keys to everything i got i don't even know what i got in the bank account anymore i don't even know what i'm worth anymore i don't even but i know what kind of bread eats now the reason i think that he he wanted to see what kind of bread that joseph was eating is because the bible tells us that joseph was very was a handsome man he was a handsome man the bible says that uh there's just a few men in the bible i'm sorry brothers there's just a few men in the bible that calls them comely are beautiful david and absalom and joseph and then it does say that moses had moses and i don't know why it says it says moses had a son that was handsome i don't know why that they had to say something about it unless moses wasn't handsome you know now that's just krc commentary all right that's just but why do you sit down and say what kind of bread do you eat a lot like some of the women and men you find some other woman or some man that's looking good got a flat belly and guess what you go up to hey c.s what you doing now what you do now you i know you you now that women say this to him don't what was it brother nash put on um it's a proven fact that well it's just brother and ask you it's something about something about a woman's weight and i'm not gonna get into that i can't remember it and i'm not gonna be like that poor kid that this young kid out of bible school went to a conference and it was an old uh veteran preacher got up and he he he said ladies and gentlemen said i want you to know this day that your speaker tonight has been in the arms of two different women crowd gasps and he said my wife and my mother with a young bible school kid he he liked that so he got invited to preach a youth rally so he stepped up and he said brothers and sisters i want you to know this day i've been in the arms of two different women the crowd gasps he said my wife and he got so overcome with their response he said my wife and and i can't remember the second one all right what you eating what diet are you on once you you ask those questions you ask those questions because you like what you see that's why you ask and i believe that potiphar asked knew about the bread because he really looked at joseph and said i want to be just like him i'd like to sit down and i'd like to know your complexion i'd like to know what that i'd like i'd like to know what you what you're eating can i tell you something if you like spiritually like what what you see in this church then the bible talks about bread being likened to truth if there's any good in us it's because of truth thank god for the educated thank god for those that are driven and they can make money and all of that but at the end of the day if there's anything good you like in me come and watch what i eat don't watch what i drive don't watch where i live don't watch what i wear if you really want to know about me come watch me eat the truth because the true oh i got to travel and he left all that he had in joseph's hand and knew not all that he had saved the bread which he did eat joseph was a goodly person and well favored and it came to pass after these things that his master's wife cast her eyes upon joseph and said lie with me can i tell you adultery is false you are not going to find what you're looking for in adultery you are not going to find what you're looking for in adultery well i'm just not happy and she makes me feel good and all this stuff lie lie lie come lie with me here we have satan trying to trip up truth verse 8 but he refused and said unto his master's wife behold my master what if not is with me in the house and he hath committed all that he hath to my hand there is none greater in this house than i neither hath he kept back anything from me but thee because thou art his wife how then can i do this great wickedness and sin against god do you know what is going to keep you from sin not necessarily power oh if i can just get the power of the holy ghost oh if i can just get prayed through listen it's not power that'll cause you to resist temptation it's principle it's thinking with a right mind when temptation comes he didn't check her out he didn't let me see something some people commit sin because they got a victim mentality and it is almost you hear them almost say it's almost like i deserved it i feel like i need to give myself a treat today and i deserved it and that only makes matters much much much much worse you're not going to resist temptation because you sang a fast song in the choir last night you're not going to resist temptation because you got a chill bump in the prayer line you know what you're going to attempt you're going to do it by being a principle-minded man a principle-minded man when she made it when she gave him the invitation to come lay in the bed of adultery he said wait a minute he said i remember my position i remember i've been exalted i'm over all this house i'm greater than anything in this house and you know what that included you know who that included that included her because if you'll live principle you can rule over temptation he said i've been blessed i i just i just wish that people when they get ready to leave church of course they don't leave church overnight people don't leave church overnight it's a slow fade but i just wish when you get those thoughts in your mind that there's really not nothing to this and i can miss a few services and i'm going to make it to heaven anyway in all of this business you would begin to think about how good the lord has been to you think back when you were in a pit and thinking you were going to get eaten by a bear or a lion that night but they drawed you up out of that pit think about being sold to potiphar think about just having god with you and things are prospering one key after another is being given to you would you just think back of where the lord has brought you from before you he's a principle-minded man he's a principle-minded man some people can give god first fruits as long as a small amount of first fruits but if you never learn the principle of tithing god will never god will never advance your paycheck so oh you're talking about money now that's right because the more money we can get the more gospel we can spread now that's a pretty listen you know why that hand clap is a little weak for two reasons for two reasons some of you ain't sold about carrying the gospel out of here you got you and you four and no more and you're just cozy and cuddly and that's all that matters well listen we got a lost in a dying world we got a lost and a dying world i'd like to see first apostolic church i'll cast a little vision for you today i'd like to see first apostolic church get financial to the place that when we find a young man and young woman that wants to go to a town and start a church that we could say hey you don't have to go you don't have to go deputize you don't have to go raise money we'll set you a budget we'll buy you a building we'll put you in that town and the kingdom of god can go on but as long as too much some people can can give first fruits when they make 300 a week but they really struggle when they make 3 000 a week that's true that that's truth that's truth that's that's true that's true he said i'm a principal driven man said how could i do this matter of fact you know what he called adultery he didn't call it extramarital affair it's amazing how we change wording to make it sound softer there's nothing gay about a homosexual pre-marital adult bookstore it's not an adult bookstore it's an idiot bookstore y'all don't believe this adult chain entertainment network it's not an adult it's a simpleton that's what the bible you said you called them idiots it's a simpleton it's a simpleton it's truth he said let me let me just read a little bit and i'm not mad i'm anointed and sometimes when i get anointed it seems like i'm mad but i'm not mad all right there is none greater in this house verse nine there's none greater in this house than i neither hath he kept back anything from me but thee because thou art his wife how then can i do this great wickedness and sin against god now let me lay something on you today this was hundreds of years before moses went to a mountain and came down with the ten commandments it said thou shalt not commit adultery it's a sin it's a wickedness and it came to pass as she speak to him day by day you know be wonderful if we just have to say to temptation one time get behind me but temptation will come day by day that he hearken not unto her to lie by her or to be with her he said you know what i don't want to hear you and i don't even want to be around you it's one that's one way listen that's one way to to dull down temptation stop making temptation so handy if it's something you can destroy destroy it if it's a person you need to avoid avoid them and it came to pass about this time that joseph went into the house to do his business and there was none of the men of the house there within she caught him by his garment saying lie with me he left his garment in her hand and fled and got out and it came to pass when she saw that he had left his garment in her hand and was fled forth that she called into the men of her house and spake unto them saying see he hath brought a hebrew unto us to mock us he came in to me to lie with me and i cried out with a loud voice what is that church that is a that is a lie the man did not try to rape her the truth was he stood for righteousness but now mr may i for the next few moments address the audience you as mr and mrs potiphar because now under one roof mr potiphar lives with a truth and a lie under the same roof you have to choose which you're going to believe the bible tells us well let's let me let me read verse 16. she laid up his garment by her until his lord mr potiphar came home man look at that what evidence i don't care how good a lie looks it's still a lie and here you got one coatless truth man and you got a woman laying in a bed with a coat drip draped across the bed and you have lie and truth which are you going to believe which are you going to believe truth or a lie a lie students hear me not only students everybody needs to hear this a lie can seem so right well i i lied to them because it would hurt them no no no no no the lie is going to hurt much worse never hurts truth can open up things that need to be healed but truth truth will never hurt you joseph's the truth part of his wife is the lie verse number verse number 16. she laid up his garment by her and to his until his lord came home and she spake unto him according to these words saying the hebrew servant which thou brought unto us came in to mock me it came to pass as i lifted up my voice and cried that he left his garment with me and fled that's a lie i don't care how convincing it looks it's a lie it came to pass when his master heard the words of his wife which she spake unto him saying after this manner did thy servant to me his wrath was kindled and joseph's master took him and put him into the prison a place where the king's prisoners were bound and he was there in the prison i believe i believe you'll all amend this what bless potiphar's house am i correct in saying that when he took truth and put it in a prison that he not only removed joseph from his house but he removed the blessing from his house he removed the blessing would i be in line today for you to believe this that after he put truth in prison that all of a sudden he couldn't buy big enough chariots to to to give him contentment all of a sudden a field that had given five wagon loads of corn now only got two wagons something broke down cattle got sick this went wrong can i tell you something i believe everything i'm telling you today because i've seen too many people prosper in a time of obeying the word of god and i have seen them just spiral out of control when they begin to leave truth oh god if i can just speak a parable to you today because i want to be very sensitive about names and people that have been here but i have pastored people in this church that have risen to great heights of success i pastor people that have risen and had notoriety in our community and the only reason they did it was because they were exalting truth they were exalting truth in their life and the more truth they would exalt the more god would exalt them and the more that god would bless them but i've seen these same people just start nibbling on a little bit of false doctrine they start nibbling just on a little bit of false doctrine what do you do you really have to speak in tongues do you do you really have to get baptized oh i went over here to this little while we were in a city i went to this large church and and they seemed way more spiritual than us watch out watch out watch out you if you have to rub shoulders with non-truthful truth preaching people and you begin to compare them with us because potiphar's bed looked convincing i can't help it if i was on a jury and i didn't know the bible i would have found him guilty also false doctrine can seem to be convincing but i've seen those same people they've spiraled out of control they've lost their marriages they've lost their children and you don't have to go there you don't have to go there i've come this morning to tell you the only reason you're the only reason you're where you're at is the truth come on musicians share with me today oh god i want to say something and i want it to be taken right but brother hammond and i can preach i can preach i know how to do it i know how to do it there he said i can preach i know how to do brother covey i can preach i know how to do it i know how to listen to tape i know how to i know how to listen to sermons i know how to put a sermon together i know how to be a good speaker and i know what's needed the icebreaker i know how to reel the crowd in with a story or two i know all about that but can i tell you something today but what makes me the preacher that i am today is not it's not that i know how to stand just write or speak just right it's because there's a god of truth that comes down upon the word when it's preached whoa here's the god of truth it comes down and if we ever put truth in a prison the blessings of god are going to lift off of our lives as never before would you just lift up your voice with me right now doctrine will be the day that god lifts us blessings off this church you believe that this morning a pastor of successful entrepreneurs i'm thankful for them seems like everything that mitchell hyde touches prospers but i believe mitchell hyde would tell you this morning it's not me god just blesses and i don't know why i don't know why ken and lori hawkins drove into maryville and took an old outdated pawn shop some of you all walk into their pawn shop their places of businesses and i did say businesses as in plural some of you walk in and see it all organized i walked into that pawn shop on papa prophet just had things in buckets you come in and say hey you got this that he'd say i'll just go look in that bucket over there i might have it might not but i watch a little old couple drive into town live over here and i watched a little couple drive into town start honoring god i watched a little couple tyler one sunday night we were raising money to pour the concrete for the parking lot ken and laurie had went home in georgia to visit they weren't there sunday morning sunday night god moved god moved we took up an offering they weren't there but the next morning we got a knock on our door lori hawkins stood there with a check in her hand she said i heard god moved last night in the service and said we want to be a part of that blessing you see sometimes we ask the wrong question we want to make we want we want to ask what do they make when we really should ask what do they give what do they give but i'll tell both these families that i've used their names today i pastor them and i tell them right now that just like i tell myself if i ever begin to let false doctrine come into this church god lift his blessings off this church this place will empty out and i tell the i tell the hawkins and the hides today that if we ever forget who's blessed us god would just lift up those blessings we'll we'll just do that i really don't know how to end this service day i know we got i know we got a baptism up here but i wonder if i could just have anyone that wants to be blessed today to walk down around the front of this altar don't kneel because i i'd like to see the church just move down front we can't put truth in the prison we can't lock up the truth right now i want the truth to flow in my life right now come on joseph come on joseph i want the truth to flow right now it was potiphar's wife that should have been put in that prison potipher's house would have continued to have been blessed if he would just kept on coming and kept on praying oh mighty wash you today let him wash you of the lies you've told let him wash you of your thievery let him wash you of your impure thoughts let him wash you of your ass god of sinful behavior let him wash you a fornication today let him wash you of adultery today let him wash you today because the truth will bring you out of prison the truth will set your feet upon the rock come on church do it do it do it
