if you'd be so kind to stand with me in honor of the reading of god's word some may ask why do you stand and i ask people if they are physically able to stand that it is a gesture of honor it is a gesture of honor to stand at the reading of god's word if you turn with me in genesis chapter 2 in verse number one i was amused yesterday at an explanation an explanation that people gave of why they are tearing down statues defacing statues of past presidents and and they they uh they they talked about them being uh racist and and and whatever um but uh they they defaced a a um a statue of abraham lincoln well there's no way that you could dare say that abraham lincoln was racist but their interpretation was well we've listened to a few things he said and now we interpret abraham lincoln through our lens of history so now we can we can we can you know obviously i denounce anything of racism racism is wrong no no racism is a sin it's a sin it's a sin but it's also a sin to come against god-ordained traditional marriage you can't hold poison in one hand and healing in the other well i better scoot on but i i got i told you that the reason i want you to stand because i want a younger generation coming up to know why we stand we stand right now in honor of the reading of god if we're physically able we stand in honor of the reading of god's word genesis chapter 2 and verse number 1 thus the heavens and the earth and all the hosts of them were finished and on the seventh day god ended his work which he had he had done and he rested on the seventh day from all his work which he had done then god blessed the seventh day and sanctified it because in it he rested from all his work which god had created and made i'm going to teach and hopefully draw someone to the altar today but i'd like to i'd like to take a bible class today and teach on understanding the sabbath understanding the sabbath father i love you this morning father help me to feed your sheep today these precious people that come week after week bring their bibles god strive to live for you god i ask you this morning that you would anoint me and help me god defeat and to teach and as we are feeding let the spirit of revelation god come into our hearts father i pray for anyone here today that's not yet born again i pray lord that while i am preaching today that your spirit will go up and down the aisles of this church and that your spirit will touch the heart of every man woman born girl lord you have placed upon my mind today to tell this congregation that there's no one here or there's no one listening today that you have given up on there's no one here today that's beyond the reach of your hand lord touch us today we'll give you praise and honor and glory in jesus name amen you may be seated again i dare not i i i'm so tempted to start calling names of families that are here today just to all of our guests thank you so very very much all of our families that have stayed over and that's here this morning thank you thank you for coming understanding the sabbath when we understand why we meet here today is not just simply some old tradition that a few are hanging on to i do understand brother erickson that the holy day of we call sunday has in the last several decades changed into a holiday instead of a holy day it has changed into a holiday culture has so worn away at the christian fabric of our country i am old enough today and i know many of you can send amen at this but i remember the day when on wednesday midweek places of business closed early on wednesday why so we go to the house of god for midweek bible study they dare not plan any little league beauty pageants they dare not plan anything other because it was the fabric of our of our nation was the fabric of our nation once again we have seen that we have seen that slowly erode with time but in order to maintain this day we must understand that this day is not the product of a an american tradition this day is established in the pages of god's holy word this day is just as important as your decision to be baptized this day is just as important as your decision to honor god with tithe and offerings this day is founded in the pages of our bible and it begins in genesis chapter 2. as we read that god the story is the history the record is that the heavens and the earth were complete all the hosts of them by god our creator and then the bible specifically says on the seventh day god ended his work and god rested on the seventh day god rested on the seventh day now i want to bring one verse of scripture to you to eliminate that he rested due to exhaustion that he rested to recuperate because isaiah chapter 40 and verse number 28 the prophet isaiah says hast thou not known hast thou not heard that the everlasting god the lord the creator in case there's any kind of misunderstanding who he's talking about here he's talking about the creator of the ends of the earth fainteth not neither is weary so we understand today that when it says that god rested on the seventh day that it is not speaking of the rest that you and i may think of as a rest to refresh ourselves or a arrest to recuperate as a matter of fact let me go back to genesis for a moment because on the sixth day at the end of the sixth day the end of the sixth day is found in genesis chapter 1 and verse number 31 and god saw everything that he had made and behold it was very good it was very good and the evening and the morning were the sixth day now we understand that as god surveyed the six days of creation the six days of creation there was a phrase used at the end of every day the six days of creation there was a phrase that was used number one that god saw that it was good that's a phrase that's used at the end of every every of the six days and god saw that it was good and then another phrase that is used is it always says when the six days of creation and the evening and the morning where the whatever day if it was the first day or the fifth day or the sixth day but you will notice something with me on the seventh day the phrase evening and morning is not used you don't hear god saying at the end of the seventh day you don't hear him saying and the evening and the morning was the seventh day now the reason that you don't hear this is because the seventh day is god's day it's god's day and god is eternal so it would be impossible for god to have a day that would be limited by time he is the eternal god but yet he is the god of time for since god created time he is also the god of eternity but he is the god that created time you will please notice that the six days have the evening in the morning but the seventh day does not it is because it is god's day now you will go back with me to genesis 2 for a moment and you'll find several things about this day that that you can relate this is god's day this is god's day number one in genesis chapter 2 verse number 2 it says that he completed his work his work was done and he rested on the third day now if you can change your image imagery here instead of having a god resting as far as recuperating as having a god resting as far as coming down upon that he rested upon or he came down upon the seventh day then you will notice verse three anything god comes down on and we certainly don't want to be gathering here be kind of boring together here out of a tradition but anything that god comes down and rests on you can be well assured that god will bless because he comes down in verse two and he rests on this day and then in verse three he blessed this day he blessed this day he put his favor and he put his honor and he put his prosperity on this day but he doesn't stop there please notice with me he rests on it then he turns around and blesses it and then he sanctifies it that word sanctify means to set apart for a work to set apart for a work now we're going to understand something today religion got it turned around we'll get there in a moment but religion got it turned around religion had man serving the sabbath but god's original intent was for the sabbath to serve the man god wanted to give the man humanity a day that he could enter and it would be a day that god rested upon he wanted to give a man a day that we could enter that god had blessed in other words as we enter the day of blessings we become a blessed people but he also wanted there to be a day that god would work on man so why do you go to church i'll tell you why i go to church is god's not finished with me i'm not here today because i'm perfect i'm here today because i need repair i'm not here today because i i've got angel wings under my jacket here and and i'm just having breakfast with gabriel in the morning and i'm just so purified and holy no i'm here today because god rests on this day and god blesses this day and god works on us on this day can i get a witness he blesses this day and he sanctifies this day now you will notice something with me notice something with me that in genesis 2 he does not call it a sabbath he calls it a rest now we know that rest worked into the word called sabbath because that word called rest is connected to the number seven and sabbath number seven is a day of completion and it is a day of rest it is a day of rest we don't hear the word sabbath mentioned in the bible until exodus chapter 16 and verse number four and this is what was referred to as the bread test god wanted to test his people he wanted to test israel it's referred to in the bible as the bread test exodus chapter 16 verse number 4 then said the lord unto moses behold i will reign bread from heaven for you and the people shall go out and gather a certain raid every day that i may prove them whether they will walk in my law or no so god says i'm going to give them bread but in giving them a bread i'm going to give them a test and the test was that they were only to go out every day for six days and gather bread they were not together they were not on five of those days they were not together more bread than they could eat that was the test only gather what you can eat don't keep any bread for tomorrow don't keep any bread i want to test them i don't want you worried about tomorrow i want you serving i want you serving god today i don't want you concerned and i don't want you concerned and worried about about tomorrow some someone said that we are crucified between two thieves and one is uh regret for what we have done and the other is worry for what might happen and and and i can i can see that sometimes we we live we either live in one of two time periods we either live in our past or we we live in what might happen in the future but god wants to give us the bread test today he wants us to to to go out daily and serve him and gather the bread and so they they were to go out for five days they were to go out and they were to gather bread and they were not together more than they could eat that day and of course we understood they failed the test some of them failed the test what what did they do they went out and got greedy and they went out and just piled a bunch of bread up more than they could eat in one day and in the night they were awakened with a terrible odor in their tent because the bible says the bread bread worms and stank it became something very odious to them it became something one thing they tried to it was at one time they would eat it and now they want to expel it from their house and god was saying see i told you because he's trying to get them to follow his word see i told you then on the sixth day it was turned around on the sixth day and we'll read that in verse 23 exodus chapter 6 16 and verse number 23 and he said unto them verse number 23 and he said unto them this is that which the lord has said tomorrow is the rest of the holy sabbath now notice this they don't just call it a day of rest here what do they call it a holy sabbath somewhere from adam it was established that the seventh day was god's day it was a day that god rested on it was a day that god had blessed and it was a day that man was worked with he was sanctified god worked with man i believe that adam and the early humans in history could testify this morning to the value of that seventh day i believe if we could resurrect adam and early men and women of human history they would all come around and say yes there was something about the seventh day that was unlike any other day not only the fact that we didn't work in labor but there was something mysterious there was something majestic about that seventh day there was something that was god-like in that seventh day much like i feel about our gathering together in the house of god but let's follow tomorrow is the rest of the holy sabbath unto the lord bake that which ye shall bake today and seek that which you shall cease seep and that which remaineth overlay up for you to keep until the morning in other words god said it's not going to stink you gather up because there's not going to be any bread on the ground on the sabbath day the bread will only the bread will only come down those six days there'll be no bread there'll be no bread brought down on the seventh now just for time's sake it's there but you'll find we're number one they stored up more than they could use on the six days and number two you'll find that many did not gather twice as much on the sixth day and so the seventh day what were they out there in the field doing looking for bread they they failed they filled that test now understand something a lot of people say well the sabbath day was under the law they're partially correct it was where it became a law because of the hardness of man's heart it became a law but from the beginning it was not a law from the beginning it was something that man willingly participated in because he loved his creator it only became a law because of the hardness of a person's sinful heart for example for example joseph refused to sleep with potiphar's wife called adultery yeah that's uh that's that's that's one of them mentioned in the law excuse me this is hundreds of years before the law was given they naturally had that god blessed instinct in them of what was right and what was wrong years before the law would say thou shalt not commit adultery let's go to tithing let's go to tithing oh yes tithing's under the law once again you're partially right it had to become a law because man's hardened heart but don't tell abraham that because abraham paid tithe long before the law was given don't tell jacob that jacob paid tithe long before the law was given oh the sabbath day that's under the law it's yes and no it had to be given in the law because of the hardness of the heart but from the beginning it was something man willingly participated why god rested on it god blessed it and god sanctified it and why wouldn't man want to participate in a god blessed day why wouldn't man want to be a part it did become the fourth commandment it did become the fourth commandment in exodus chapter eight and verse number excuse me exodus chapter 20 and verse number eight let's listen to god here he says in verse number it's the fourth commandment he says in verse number eight remember the sabbath day to keep it holy remember this day and guard it remember this day and guard this day six days shalt thou labor and do all thy work but the seventh day is the sabbath of the lord thy god in it thou shalt do shalt not do any work thou nor thy son nor thy daughter nor the man's servant nor thy maidservant nor thy cattle nor thy stranger that is within thy gates now watch what the sabbath is tied to look at what the sabbath is tied to church for in six days the lord made heaven and earth the sea and all and all that in them is and rested on the seventh seventh seventh day wherefore the lord blessed the sabbath day and hallowed it look at this why were they to keep the sabbath day it reminded them of creation it kept them in constant memory that god was the creator it tied them to the fact that we were not the product of evolution we're not the product of some fable that's been given we are the product of the mighty creative hand of a loving god that has given us all these things and that's why they were to keep this day keeping the sabbath day guarding it kept creation in their view now notice what it did they remembered and worshiped the creator on the sabbath unlike the surrounding heathens that worship the creature and not the creator you see there is a difference of people there are the heathen pagans that worship creation and there's this unusual band of people that every seven days pause and worship not things but they worship the god of all creation i think it'd be a good time right now for us just to worship in some form our creator i love you lord i bless your name god i thank you for salvation inside of my soul i thank you for your ever-abiding presence god that never leaves me nor ever forsakes me i praise you for that this morning lord we know in romans chapter 1 and verse number 25 the pagans evolved into this who changed the truth of god into a lie and worshiped and served the creature more than the creator who is blessed forever amen became a sign of creation but it not only became a sign of creation it also became a sign between israel and god it became a personal sign that identified israel it identified israel it set israel apart it set israel apart from the other people our bible tells us that that as the church that we are to be a peculiar people the bible tells us as the church think it not strange that we are not a part of this world young people think it not strange that our ways of worship and our ways of living are not likened to the ways of this world that's because god had this day and not only reminded them of creation but look with me in exodus chapter 31 and verse number 12. exodus chapter 31 verse number 12 and and the lord spake unto moses saying speak also unto the children of israel saying verily my sabbaths ye shall keep for it is a sign between me and you throughout your generations that ye may know that i am the lord that doth sanctify you ye shall keep the sabbath therefore for it is holy unto you everyone that defileth it shall surely be put to death for whosoever doeth any work then that soul shall be cut off from among his people six days may work be done but in the seventh is the sabbath of rest holy to the lord whosoever doeth any work in the sabbath that he shall surely be put to death wherefore the children of israel shall keep the sabbath to observe the sabbath throughout their generations for a perpetual covenant it is a sign between me and the children of israel forever for in six days the lord made heaven and earth and on the seventh day he rested and was refreshed now look at this again not only did the sabbath day remind them that god was the creator of creation but it reminded them that they had a special thing between them and god that the israelites were not just any old people they wasn't just any average nation that wasn't they wasn't like these people or that people they were god's people oh there's no more cherished thing that you should have today thank god we're americans but i cherish something above being an american i'm thankful i'm a child of god i'm so thankful i'm a child of god today i'm thankful for my i'm thankful for being an american but oh i am thankful that i'm a child of god today i know in whose hand i am i know who gives me my next breath i know who holds my world in his hands and for that today i hold my head just a little bit back and i swear my shoulders just a little bit square and i walk with us i walk with a stride of confidence that i know who my god is today i know who my god is today kept them reminded i could um i could give you um i could give you several other verses as a matter of fact let's go to nehemiah chapter 9 and verse number 13. and you may say today brother carpenter this uh it's not very relevant to us today that's just a little bit uh lectured i don't know how in the world i'm gonna i'm gonna apply this to my life i'll tell you how you're going to apply it to your life you're going to begin to guard this day because if we've ever seen something sweeping the church today it is an attack against this day nehemiah chapter 9 and verse number 13 9-13 thou came us down upon mount sinai and spaketh with them from heaven and gave them right judgments and true laws and good statues and commandments and made known unto them thy holy sabbath and commanded them precepts statues laws by the hand of moses thy servant gave them bread from heaven for their hunger and brought forth water for them out of the rock for their thirst and promised them that they should go in to possess the land which you had sworn to give them but they and their fathers now watch this now they and their fathers here's the here's the horrible turn here's the tragedy but they and their fathers dealt proudly and hardened their necks and hearkened not to thy commandments and they refused to obey neither were mindful of thy wonders that thou dist among them but hardened their necks and in their rebellion appointed a captain to return to their bondage but thou art a god ready to pardon gracious and merciful slow to anger and great kindness and forsookus them not yea when they made them a molten calf and said this is thy god that brought thee up out of egypt and hath wrought great and and had wrought great provocations now what happened these people forgot to obey the sabbath that was one of the things mentioned and when they forgot to obey the sabbath they began to turn and they wanted to go back where they wanted to go back to egypt and so they made them a captain to return but evidently they couldn't that they couldn't get him a captain to return see when we forget god's holy day we will naturally turn back to the world of which we came out of now read my lips today and understand i have one desire in my heart i don't want to go back to where god brought me out of i don't want to go back can i get a witness this morning i don't want to go back i know some of you some of you may have been born in the church some of you and thank god you've got a better testimony you god has kept you from and god has brought me out of god has kept you from and god has brought me out of but i'm here to tell you today i don't want to go back to the world not only do i not want to go back to the world my second fear is this i don't want to become methodical about serving god i don't want this to become an occupation to me i don't want this to become something that we just go through a routine that we just come together on sunday mornings and sunday nights and wednesday nights and we go through this little ritual of a happy slappy time and we we go through this little little ritual no i don't want i want an encounter with the living god i don't want to go back to the world but neither do i want to be cold and dull and ritual and routine i want to see god do the miraculous i want to see god move and god touch and god do them i i i'm glad and she sent me another text today that tumor that was giving sister crowder uh pain in her body that they said we can't do anything about it she sent me one of the first texts i got when i got up this morning she sent me a text there's no still no more pain brother carpenter giving praise and honor to god still no more pain i wouldn't want to be in a church where you don't hear of healings and you don't hear of deliverances and you don't hear let me keep going for a moment they couldn't get them this is where i don't want to be i don't want to go back to the world i don't want to stay in the church and lose my fervor with god watch what they did let me let me see if i can bring it back up let me see if i can bring it back up oh yeah in verse number 17 they tried to get nehemiah 9 and 17 they tried to get somebody take them back to the house of bondage evidently they couldn't find anybody to do that so they then settled for the second thing and that's in verse 18 yea they had made them a molten calf that's and said this be the gods that brought you out egypt you know there's a lot of folks don't want to go back to egypt but they want to stay in the church and look like egypt let me say that again there's a lot of folks that are not leaving the church they're staying in the church and beginning to look like egypt they don't want to be said they're out of church so they'll stay right there in their same pew but they'll go live like the egyptians dress like the egyptians act like the egyptians and the only difference between them and an egyptian is that the egyptian is in the world and they are standing on a church pew they're standing in inside the church i don't want to be like that either i want to be gods i want to be one of god's people i i don't want to go back to the world i don't want to i don't want to go back to things that god brought me out of i don't want to go back to the clothing that i lay down i don't want to go back to the habits that i lay down i want to be a child of god and i do that by remembering the sabbath day i'm here today to remember the sabbath day sorry for the lecture this morning say what in the world would the sabbath day have to do with being brought out of sin i'm glad you asked that because deuteronomy 5 and 12 answers that what in the world i can see creation by the carpenter and i can see it being a special sign but what in the world would keeping the sabbath day had to do with being about that god brought us out of sin keep the sabbath day verse number 12. keep the sabbath day to sanctify it as the lord thy god hath commanded thee six days shalt thou labor and do all thy work but the seventh day is the sabbath of the lord thy god in it thou shalt not do any work thou nor thy son nor thy daughter nor thy mates manservant nor thy maidservant nor thine ox nor thine ass nor any of thy cattle nor the stranger that is within thy gates that thou that thy manservant and thy maidservant may rest as well as thou and remember everybody say that with me now and remember that thou wast a servant in the land of egypt and that the lord thy god brought thee out fence through a mighty hand and by an outstretched arm therefore the lord thy god commanded thee to keep the sabbath look at that not only does the sabbath day remind me that god is the creator not only does the sabbath day remind me of a covenant between god and israel but the sabbath day reminds me of the life of bondage that i used to be in before he sent his mighty hand and before he delivered me i wonder how many former smokers are in the house today your pastoral stand i was bound in egypt by two packs of them at the age of 16 years old i was bound by two packs of cigarettes no doubt the devil's plan was to put me in an early grave just like he did my father but praise be to god god sent his mighty hand down and god put me under conviction yes god put me under conviction and i i was at a i was in an apostolic church just like this one and god put me under conviction and i walked down to the altar about right here in front of the pulpit and i lifted my hands and i said i love you jesus and when i said when this two pack a day and some beer boy and some marijuana boy and some other things sniffing paint and snipping the gasoline out of a out of a can when that little boy stood before god 16 years of age in his his levi's jeans and his little muscle shirt and his little long hair and i begin to say i love you jesus the great god of glory reach down oh the great god of glory reach down hallelujah to god the great god of glory reached down and this boy felt something that he had never felt before it hit me about my ankles it come across my ankles i felt something i'd never felt before you may be seated here i felt something i'd never felt before and i thought man i i thought in my mind i feel that i felt something i'd never felt before and somebody yelled in my ear say i love you jesus and i said i love you jesus and then when i said it the second time that same thing that hit my ankle hit me about my waist and i thought man that feels good i think i might have jerked a little bit and i thought man that feels good that that feels good and i thought man that really feels good about that time somebody yelled in my ear shout again i said i love you jesus and about that time it hit me about my chest and if i've ever heard the voice of the devil he knew he was about to lose one of his servants because i heard a voice in my head say you're about to make a fool out of yourself you're about to make a fool out of yourself and about that time somebody yelled in my ear and said say it again and i said i love you jesus that time it hit me it went over my head it knocked me flat of my back i was laying on the floor talking in other tongues as god gave me the utterance oh hallelujah hallelujah can i tell you today there ain't no preacher's card in my back pocket that can get me too proud to remember how god brought me out of sin whoa hallelujah to god he brought me out he delivered me it's not a car shiny enough that can cause me to forget about that there's not a house big enough that can cause me to forget about that you hear me today it is the lord's sabbath hallelujah come on some of you need to go back and relive it just for a moment today he said remember he brought me out of the my reclaim he set my feet on that rock to stay he put a song in my soul today a song of praise hallelujah oh hallelujah hallelujah hallelujah hallelujah go ahead i'm free from smoking cigarettes i'm free from marijuana i'm free from sniffing gas i'm free from sniffing spray pants i'm free from that lifestyle and thank god my children have never tasted a cigarette and my children have never tasted a beer and my children have never been oh don't want to go back i don't want to go back it may be seated i don't want to go back i don't want to go back god gave us a canaan land rest lord and god rested on the seventh day you know what put god back to work sin jesus said it plainly in john chapter five he says before this time my father worked and now i work the father worked with creation but god in human flesh works now in redemption sin will interrupt your sabbath day sin will interrupt sin will interrupt your life let me read these passages of scripture i feel that the lord musicians would come oh praise god oh praise god praise god praise god oh god israel i want to give you not only a creation rest but i want to give you a canaan rest i want to bring you into a land that flows with milk and honey i want to bring you into your own land and make you victorious but just like adam and eve's sin interrupt creation rest israel's disobedience disrupted their canaan rest in second chronicles chapter 36 verse 14. moreover all the chief of the priests and the people transgressed very much after all the abominations of the heathen and polluted the house of the lord which he had hallowed in jerusalem and the lord god of their father sent to them by his messengers listen to this it's the only way you get any help today it's the only way you get any help today and the lord god of their father sent to them by his messengers rising up between between the times and sending because he had compassion on his people and on his dwelling place but they mocked the messengers of god don't ever fall into the place of sitting and becoming critical about what's being preached don't ever set as if you're a taste tester at some kind of contest don't ever be like those people that test wine and take a little sip slosh it around in their mouth and see how well they like it and what they're going to call it folks you listen to your pastor today the only way god has of helping us is through his word it's his word but they mocked the messengers of god despised his word notice that says misused misused his prophets well we see that today so much we like when men come by with prophetic ministries that tell us how much money we're going to make next year oh yeah we like the prophetic ministry the man that comes by and tells us we're going to do this and we're going to prosper but we don't really care too much for david's prophet nathan that comes and says you are the man we don't like those prophets very much that's why it says they misused the prophets they misused that i just want to hear i just want to hear from a prophet when he's telling me what i want to hear i don't want to hear from the prophet when he's telling me to repent of my sins i don't want to hear from the prophet when he's telling i believe sometimes a pastor can operate can operate in a in a shepherd row i believe a pastor can operate in an evangelist mode and i believe a pastor can step out and be a prophet also we like it when that pastor's telling us how good we're doing and we like it when our pastor gets up we like it when the pastor begins to kind of lean toward easing up on us a little bit oh that's a that's a compassionate we're not so keen on those pastors they say folks if it was good enough 50 years ago if the way we had church 50 years ago is the reason we're in this cathedral today we'd be crazy to stop what's wrong with it let me use the prophets until the wrath i want you to see this now please until the wrath of the lord arose against his people till there was no remedy therefore he brought upon them the kings of the counties slew their young men with the sword in the house of the sanctuary and had no compassion upon the young man or maiden or old man or him that's stupid for age he gave them all to his hand all the vessels of the house of god great and small look at how tragic this is treasures of the house of the lord treasures of the king and of his princes all these he brought to babylon and they burnt the house of the lord and break down the wall of jerusalem and burn all the palaces thereof with fire and destroyed all the goodly vessels thereof and them that had escaped from the sword carried he away to babylon where they were servants to him and to his sons until the reign of the kingdom of persia all this ugly stuff happened for this next verse to fulfill the word of the lord by the mouth of jeremiah until the land had enjoyed her sabbaths as for long as she laid desolate she kept sabbath to fulfill three score and ten years all of that ugly stuff happened because they simply failed to keep the sabbath would you stand with me this morning israel had a creation rest israel had a canaan rest and sin sin sin sin took him away from their canaan rest but jesus christ god robed in flesh came he said come unto me all ye that labor and are heavy laden and i will give you rest he says in second corinthians 5 17 therefore if any man be in christ he is a new creature all things are passed away behold all things are become new now let me end with this so that there's a balance here we do not worship on the sabbath day because that commandment was never given to the gentiles it was given to the jews we worship on the first day of the week and the first day of the week is special because that's the day that jesus christ rose from the dead we understand they met on the first day of the week paul instructed for offerings to be gathered on the first day of the week jesus rose on the first day of the week but acts chapter 2 and verse 46 says that the church meant daily so to the church sabbath is not one out of seven to the church we have an everyday rest an everyday rest now here's the difference here's the difference to the jews in the old testament their sabbath went like this they worked six days and they rested that's the old testament you work six days and you rest but ours is different we find that one day of rest any man being christ he's a new creature old things have passed away and behold all things become new so we do it totally backward old testament they work six days and rest one new testament we find our rest in jesus and then we go to work we don't work to get our salvation we work because we have salvation we don't do things to get salvation we do things to reveal that we have salvation could you love god heaven as a rushing mighty wind and it filled all the house where they were sitting there appeared into them clothing tongues like is a fire and it what gives us our rest today is the holy ghost what gives us our identity today is the holy ghost but the holy ghost only comes into a place that is in one mind and in one agreement right now i want to ask you something at 11 52 at 11 53 now could we for two minutes have nothing on our minds but god coming down and resting upon us today father in the name of jesus right now oh in the name of jesus right now surely you can give god two minutes of worship surely we can give god two minutes of praise come o holy spirit come on delivering and may we speak with new tongues as your spirit gives the utterance may we be filled with your life may we
