well praise the Lord everybody Lord wow what a goodlooking crowd in the house of the Lord tonight on a Wednesday on a Wednesday evening to hear the word of the Lord and exciting things coming up this weekend brother Ericson said um how many eggs is coming out of that helicopter are you are you are you exactly man that's going to be exciting that's going to be exciting hey if you're here tonight and you're a guest we welcome you thank you for coming to First Apostolic on a Wednesday evening put your hands together and welcome them church family man why you think about that evangelist Kenny Carpenter that was here aw man well I want you to know first lady first lady took that angelist aside and told him said look here he said we mothers are trying to teach our kids not to say idiot all right she said if you want to come back you got to promise I said well and she said just a little crass too I said well it crass like being brass he said no it's worse than brass all right so uh but I still like that evangelist don't you amen I'm might have I might learn how to say idiot in Spanish Loco you know what I just believe in having fun in church but you thankful you can go to a church you can have some fun in I appreciate the goodness of the lord well let's go to Genesis tonight it's 8:00 I'd like to make you aware uh cell phone awareness um unless you're unless you're reading your Bible off your cell phone or unless you're working some kind of emergency and you don't have to use your cell phone i' like to issue an a cell phone awareness if why don't you just mute it or turn it off for the next 45 minutes you remove a temptation all right and and I promise you what's going to what's going to come across the text it's better than any text you or I could get amen well let's dive in tonight Genesis chapter 2 verse number 7 if you're happy in the Lord say Amen Genesis chapter 2 verse number seven and the Lord God everybody say Lord God lord and the Lord God formed man of the Dust of the ground and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life and man became a living Soul why we believe what we believe the baptism of the Holy Ghost let's pray father we love you father we thank you tonight for your love and for your mercy we thank you God for a desire to read your word to build our lives upon your word to be able to share your word so that others can be changed by Your Word father I thank you for the wonderful anointed singing and music that we heard tonight father I thank you for the great crowd of people that's here that show by the manifestation of their faith a love and desire to hear your word for the next few moments Lord anoint your servant and I will give you the glory and the honor in Jesus name we all pray amen and amen you may be seated why we believe what we believe the baptism of the Holy Ghost let me go ahead and tell you something there isn't anything better on this Earth than the baptism of the Holy Ghost there's nothing better there's nothing better in life like the baptism like the baptism of the Holy Ghost you won't find anything on this Earth that's any better than having the baptism of the Holy Ghost it's good good it's good I'm glad that I've received the Holy Ghost tonight and um it's so good it's so good that I want to share it I want to share and want to tell people number one that there is such a thing as the baptism of the Holy Ghost and there's not just such a thing as the baptism of the Holy Ghost the Bible says that God wants everybody to have the baptism of the Holy Ghost there's no one excluded he wants us all to have this good gift and tonight I'm going to teach on why we believe what we believe the baptism of the Holy Ghost and I begin in Genesis I begin in Genesis when the Bible says that it's recounting now it is recounting what happened in Genesis 1 and it simply says and the Lord God formed man of the Dust of the ground and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life and man man became Man became a living Soul we find from this one verse of scripture tonight that man is a combination man is a combination of two elements man is made up of dirt and the spirit of God man is made up of two elements dirt and the spirit of God job shed some light in job 33 and verse number four when job tells us these words the spirit of God hath made me and the breath of the almighty hath given me what's that last word in that verse life job in so many words talks about being formed from the dust of the earth and that what gave that that body that that dust dirt body what gave that body life was the breath the breath of the almighty God the Book of Ecclesiastes tell us what happens when a person dies when a person dies Ecclesiastes chapter 12 and verse number seven tells us exactly what happens when a person dies it says then shall the dust return to the Earth as it was and the spirit shall return unto God who gave it so at death at death just as at the beginning God created man formed man from the dust of the earth and then God breathed two components dirt and spirit and that death these two components components of man is separated once again again and man goes back to the dust of which he was made and the spirit of man goes to God goes to God that made it now turning back to Genesis chap 2 and verse 16 we find something very interesting in Genesis 2 in Genesis 2 we are introduced to the word Lord Lord the word Lord is not in Genesis 1 it is not in Genesis 1 it is simply God created the heavens and the Earth and God said let there be light but in Genesis chapter 2 with the completion of Creation The Creator claims lordship over creation for what he has created he is the Lord of creation so in Genesis chapter 2 we find repeatedly over and over again the word Lord God the word Lord is added the word Lord is added now this is interesting in Genesis 2:16-17 um it says and the Lord God commanded the man and the Lord God commanded to the man man saying of every tree of the garden thou mayest freely eat but of the tree of the knowledge of Good and Evil Thou shalt not eat of it for in the day that thou eatest thereof Thou shalt surely die now let me let me tell you that in the in in the day that the Lord made the Heaven and the Earth as I have told you the word Lord was used or Yahweh is used in our Bible our English word Lord and I I believe I believe you'll this will help us our English word Lord comes from the anglosaxon word for bread the same word in English of Lord is where we get the word for bread as does a loaf of bread as though a loaf of bread because ancient English men of high stature would keep keep a continual open house they would never shut their door they would keep a continual open door where all could come and get bread to eat this is where in the the old English World they gained The Honorable title of Lords of Lords because they were the dispensers of bread they were the providers they were the sustainers and so when we look at the word Lord God we find that God not only created man but God was also that which would sustain him and that which would support him now if you would go back and notice with me in verse 16 of chapter 2 that it says and the Lord God commanded well you may ask what does the Lord God or who does the Lord God think he is to command man well I tell you God doesn't think God knows he's Creator and therefore by the right of creation he is not only God creator he is Lord God he is able to sustain man and so now the Lord God gives a command to man saying that every tree of the garden you may freely you may freely eat of but there's one tree there is one tree in the garden that if you eat of that tree if you eat of that tree he didn't even say you will die he said you will surely die if you eat of that tree this may seem like a small thing think about it now a small thing to hinge the destiny of the human race and all creation on just imagine that it all hinged paradise and destruction life and death hinged on one seemingly simple commandment don't eat of the tree of the knowledge of Good and Evil now just let that soak into your mind it all hinged eternal life and eternal death hinged on this simple commandment not to eat but the tree was nothing more than a Restraint of Adam and Eve that's all that commandment was it was to restrain them it was to remind Adam and Eve and we need to be reminded of this it was to remind them they were not God that God had a legitimate claim to their obedience and that they were responsible to him when God gave that commandment God placed a restraint upon the them and can I tell you something restraints when they come from God are good restraints they're good restraints he placed a restraint upon them because he knew that they would need to be reminded that you're not God I am the Lord I am the Lord God now as we weave our way through this now I promise you we're going to get to to the baptism of the Holy Ghost the Bible talks about the Bible the Bible talks about in Luke chapter 6 and verse number 46 Jesus calls a group of people out and in Luke chap 6 and verse number 46 he calls him out and he simply says this why call ye Me Lord Lord Lord now the reason he doubles it is that they were off they were very prideful to boast that he was their Lord that's why he repeats it you call me why do you call me Lord Lord and do not the things which I say he was puzzled at them he was puzzled he said you call me Lord Lord you emphasize it you emphasize the fact that Jesus is your lord he says but why do you call me Lord Lord but you don't obey my Commandments you you see if I am your lord then you have restraints upon you you have Commandments that are given to you you're continually reminded that that you're not God all right and and and you see tonight I really think that a lot of people live the way they live not only because they don't believe there's a God but I actually believe to where they think that they're in control of their life and they're really calling the shots I I look out over a vast crowd here tonight and I think it's all an outward manifestation that we're here tonight brother Holland because we know we're not God and we know that he is the Lord God that he is the sustainer of creation and that all that I need is in the Lord and that's why we come tonight as hungry children with troubles and trials and different issues of our life why are we here with uplifted hands because he is the Lord he is the house of bread and his door is always open that we can call out upon him but he simply says why wh why do you call me Lord Lord and you don't do the things I tell you and then he he gave a little Parable or a story to go with it he said those that call me Lord Lord and do nothing about it is like a man that builds a house on a sunshiny day and he builds a house without a foundation he believes that life is always going to be sunshiny days and it's always going to be fair weather so he never Builds on a foundation but I'll tell you the man that not only hears my word but does my word does something about my word he's like a man that digs down deep and gets down to the Rock so when the rains come and the winds blow and the floods come and beat upon that house that house stands sure why because he's not he's not just God he's Lord God of Our Lives amen he's just not God he's Lord God he's Lord God of Our Lives it's an interesting thing this Lord this word coming out in Genesis uh 2 matter of fact Paul even brings it clearer in U in 1 Corinthians chapter 12 verse number three just just look at what Paul says 1 Corinthians 12: 3 he says to the Corinthian Church wherefore I give you to understand I want you to understand something he says I want you to understand something that no man speaking by the spirit of God calleth Jesus a curse he said now I want I want to tell you in your assemblies and you've got all these people standing up giving supposedly Divine utterances if a man stands up in one of your assemblies and says that Jesus is cursed he says that's not true he says I'll give you to understand no man speaking by the spirit of God call it Jesus a curse if a man stands up and says Jesus is a curse Mark that man those words were not inspired by the Holy Ghost they were not inspired by the Holy Ghost but then he goes on and says and no man and no man can say that Jesus is the Lord but by the Holy Ghost in other words you can't even confess him as Lord unless you truly have the Holy GH ghost in your life you cannot confess him as Lord you cannot live a life to where he is Lord God the sustainer the bread the open door you can't even live that life without the inspiration and the motivation of the Holy Ghost I'm so thankful for the Holy Ghost tonight I'm I'm so thankful for the Holy Ghost tonight you know it said in the day that you you would eat in the day that you would eat you would surely you would surely die in other words Adam and Eve you will give an account for your actions you will you will give an account for your actions you know um I've watched people I have watched people have lifechanging news given to them it can be they've been given a certain amount of time to live and without fail I can tell you that every person that I have been their Pastor or been around and they've been given a certain amount of time to live I'm going to tell you every person changes the way they view life they change the way they view Life as a matter of fact more people get stirred up to make decisions to live for God not at weddings that's just the truth when do you think they get mostly to stirred up to live for God at a funeral and because they realize hey I can live my life like that's never going to happen to me but I'm here to tell you if Jesus Christ carries his coming another hundred years all of us will be gone all of us will have a service it'll all be now you see well you know that's really not very encouraging to me tonight well it ought to be it ought to be because we are all headed to a judgment with god let's look at Romans chapter 14 and verse number 11 Romans chapter 14 and verse number 11 Paul says for it is written as I live sath the Lord who who says that who who says that the Lord as I live sayith the Lord every knee how many knees I guess that would include me and you right every knee shall bow to me and every tongue shall confess to God verse 12 why don't we read it together let it sink down deep into our soul so then every one of us shall give an account of himself to God you hear that every one of us shall give an account of ourselves of ourselves to God now God said Adam and Eve I want to put a restraint on you I'm going to put a restraint on you here's the restraint see the tree knowledge good and evil yeah I'll see it God don't need of that tree I restrain you I restrain you from eating of that tree of course now you you understand that we're living in a culture now that if we let them bleed into our church and into our schools they're going to tell us that we're warping our children by putting any kind of restraint upon them we're horrible parents to do that we're just horrible parents to teach them the Bible we're we're horrible parents and and and it goes on and on and on can I tell you tonight that's a lie good parents put restraints good parents don't allow Church attendance to be optional oh I feel the Evangelist come back I'm gonna be good that's right good parents good parents don't make Church optional good parents live by ask for me in my house we'll serve God that's good parents good good parents good parents have restraints they have things like curfews and things like curfews be may be seated everybody but it's good for our kids to have curfew nothing good happens late at night good parents boy here we go now good parents everybody say good parents good parents don't let their kids take their cell phones to bed with them what's wrong with that well I'm tell you do you realize when they take that phone to bed with them that that whole world's up there you might might as well open up the doors for everybody to come in because that's that's what they have access to you see when I was growing up the restraints were a little different there were places we were told not to go now we need to preach on that cell phone cuz they don't have to physically go to those places now they can just get their cell phone they take the camera they take video they bring everybody into the room good parents good parents good parents put restraints on that's why a good God puts restraints on us they're good restraints God gave a nation of Israel brother Nolan God gave them 10 restraints that's right they weren't bad restraints either they were good they were good restraints but God put a restraint you see that tree over Adam I I do God I do Lord God don't eat of that tree you eat of that tree you will surely die but let's listen to the tempter as he came Genesis chapter 3 and verse 4 here he comes here Genesis and and hey I promise you we're going to talk about the Holy Ghost all right let go ahead and tell you this Pentecost was not the first time man got the Holy Ghost the second time well when was the first time when God breathed into him do you know the same Hebrew word for breath is we get the same Hebrew Hebrew word for wind when the wind came at Pentecost God baptized them the second time because they got the breath knocked out of them in the garden the first time that's why if you just let me take you here just real quick if you go to if you'll go to John chapter number um let's see John I believe it's chapter 20 chapter 20 of John the Gospel of John chapter 20 to those that I gave my notes to it's the last it's the last verse on the on the list it's all the way down at the bottom John 20 and 22 now look at the Timeline Jesus had died Jesus had rose again Jesus had spent 40 days with him he's about about to ascend into heaven and make way for the Holy Ghost to come but look what he go he gives them a little preview of what was going to happen and in John 20 and verse 22 and when he had said this he Jesus breathed on them and saith unto them receive ye the Holy Ghost Pentecost was not the first time man received the Holy Ghost it was creation that caused man to come to life but sin sin knocked the breath sin knock the breath the life out of man Genesis 3 and 4 now let's go back here we are we have man with a restraint But Here Comes Satan The Serpent and the serpent said unto the woman you shall not surely die watch this whose word will you believe whose word will you believe but ask yourself the question who do you want to be like who do you want to be like there's too many people that look at acts of sin and not the person that's sinning when you look at sin you don't need to look at that momentary fleshly satis satisfacation that you get you need to look at the person so so who you want to be should be who you follow what they say so Satan says in verse number four of Genesis 3 you shall not surely die but God said everybody say God said You shall surely die Satan said mother Lee Satan said You shall not die God said You shall shall surely die so now man is faced with a decision who do I want to be like because whoever I follow is going to be the one that I be that I'm going to become like so now reading this and it it says it says in Genesis um chapter 3 and verse4 and the serpent said You shall not surely you shall not surely die for God doth know that in the day that you eat thereof that your eyes shall be opened and you shall be as God's knowing good and evil now just as we study this tonight at verse five Satan and I believe he purposely did it has omitted one word in Genesis 1 he was God but from Genesis two on he's not just God he is Lord God he is owner God he is sustainer God but watch Satan I believe he omits this word for God doth know he didn't say Lord God you know why he doesn't want to remind you that God is your sustainer he wants to just for you to view him as a cold creator for God doth know that in the day that you eat thereof then your eyes shall be open and you shall be as God's knowing good and evil now there's the LIE the LIE is that you're going to become like God if anybody let me tell you this there's no more dangerous of a person than a deceived person I I mean when people are deceived they're convincing because they're talking through deception I mean they really believe what they're saying and they're they're see Satan knows very well you're not going to become like God as a matter of fact Satan knows you're about to enter into the biggest demotion that you've ever had Satan was a praise leader Satan was covered in beautiful jewels and had all kinds of musical instruments placed inside of him he was Loos Lucifer son of the morning he was a cherub he was close the one of one of the one of the cherubs and and and we could break it down one Angel was a messenger Angel uh Gabriel was a messenger Angel and and Michael uh uh Michael he he he was he was this this Waring Angel Michael you'll find him in scripture going to war but Lucifer he was the pra amazing Angel he was the angel that led worship he led a Heavenly Choir in heaven he was he was exalted he he l a a Heavenly Choir there but look what happened to him in Isaiah chapter 14 and verse number 14 here is where he went astray Isaiah 14:14 listen to Satan I will Ascend above the heights of the clouds I will be like the most high Satan knows that's not going to happen Satan himself is a poster child that I had this glorious life of being a praiser of being a worship leader in glory waking up son of the morning Lucifer waking up giving God the glory but when I tried to be like God he changed my identity he demoted me from an angel Ang to a demon he demoted me from freedom to bondage Satan knows very well let's let's talk about do you understand that Satan part of the angels that fell from heaven are in Chains right now they are in Chains of bondage second Peter 2 and 4 for if God spared not the angels that sinned but cast them down to hell and delivered them into the chains of Darkness to be reserved under judgment there is an there is a number of angels that are bound up with chains that can do nothing they lost their Liberty they lost their freedom notice it said they were cast down from heaven can I tell you when we take Godly restraints off our lives you're not living in Freedom you're living in bondage you're living in bondage you're you're you're not living in freedom but bondage Jude 1 verse number six look at Jude and the angels which kept not their first estate but left their own habitation he hath reserved in Everlasting chains under Darkness under the Judgment of the great day second Peter second Peter chapter uh second Peter chapter number two and verse number verse verse number 19 listen to this now talking about people that are trying to talk you away from your restraints talk you away from having a life with some restraints here they are Peter begins to talk about them he says while they promise them Liberty they themselves are the Servants of corruption for of whom is a man overcome of the same is he brought into bondage in other words Adam Eve be like God or be like Satan if you and you did go the path of Satan you didn't get Freedom you got placed under the bondage of Satan you got placed under the bondage of Satan look at Romans now we're going to come back to Second Peter in just a second but look at Romans chapter 6 and verse number 16 know you not that to whom ye yield your servants yourselves servants to obey his servants ye are to whom you obey whether of sin unto death or obedience unto righteousness again look look with me youth Satan said You shall not surely die God said You shall surely die whoever I listen to and follow is who I become a servant to if I follow after God he's never done done us or he will never do you nothing but good you're blessed you're highly favored you're on the right Road all kinds of blessings are in store for your life incredible blessings mindblowing ble listen God has a life for you that if he told you right now what he's going to do for you it would blow your mind you would have sit back and say that'll never happen in my life but if you'll just serve God that that that will that will come about in your life but if you turn around and you obey Satan then you have to live the life that he's going to give you and can I tell you tonight I have never seen anybody Prosper I have never seen anybody be blessed I don't care listen I saw this example A man was talking about freedom and he had a small goldfish in a bowl a small goldfish in a bowl and he watched that goldfish in the boat and he started talking to that goldfish and he said aren't you aren't you tired of being restrained aren't you tired of being in this little Bowl right here being restrained and then he reached down in in that now probably animal activist now this happened several years ago and I'll dare not tell you who where happened CU might have some an animal activist get on to us but he reached down in that goatfish bowl and he got that Goldfish by the tail and he threw him out on the floor and he says now you're free you're free and he said watch him watch how he's moving around man watch how he's moving around he's free and a lot of people that cast off the restraints of God and God's word man they'll get out and send word back man I'm free out here look at what I get to do and look at what I do but can I tell you history has shown us the ugliness of the Shipwreck of lives that have left God you don't want to go that direction he means death he means destruction nothing good will ever come out of you L serve God serve God live for God and finally after the man preached for a while he went back to the Goldfish and he said he's not moving very much now and um you know the story go back to Second Peter go back to Second Peter chapter 2 verse number 20 there's those that want to promise you Liberty satan promises you Liberty come on out here cast those restraints off get out from under that that gospel preaching get out from under that old outdated book called The Bible get out from under them old archaic parents get out here where you can really get out here where you can really live verse 20 of second Peter chapter 2 for if after they have escape the pollution of the world through the knowledge of the Lord and Savior Jesus Christ Christ they are again entangled therein and overcome the latter end is worse with them than the beginning now he says God's brought you out God has brought you out but just because God has brought you out is not a 100% guarantee you're going to stay out those same decisions who you going to serve you shall live you shall surely die you shall surely not die who you going to serve serve so if you C even though you're in and you begin to listen to those words and you get out notice notice verse number 20 again with me he first says you escape the pollutions of the world through the knowledge the preaching of the Lord and Savior Jesus Christ he said they are again entangled now no no notice notice how he uses this folks get too close to things and they get tangled up in the wrong thing they get they get they get too close to something and they get they get tangled up in it and once you get tangled therein look at the next thing that happens and overcome you get tangled up in something and then you get overcome he says the latter end the last end is worse worse with them than the beginning for it had been better for them not to have known the way of righteousness then after they had known it to turn from the holy Commandments delivered unto them but it has happened unto them according to the true proverb the dog is turned to his own vomit again and the cow or the pig that was washed to the wallowing in the mire that dog that will regurgitate something that that dog that will eat something that were and there's no distasteful sight than the sea that you'll turn your head a dog will regurgitate something and then turn right back around and lick it back up I and I know I know the Evangelist come I I I I know I know I know but that's exactly how you and I look to God God when years ago we regurgitated our sins on the altar years ago we were baptized in his name years ago we prayed and received the gift of the Holy Ghost and and we make commitments to God at youth camps and conventions that we make commitments that we're going to serve God but somehow we got overcome we got under the wrong we got under the wrong influence and we got tangled up and we got overcome and what we regurgitated on the altars we we go back and we pick it up in our lives he said it's like taking a pig and washing a pig said that pig will go right back to the pig pin and find a mud hole and water in why because they're a pig that's why he said it's the true it's the true proverb so when we follow after Satan we follow after Satan look at Ephesians chapter two with me tonight Ephesians chapter 2 verse number one the Bible says and you hath he quickened that means to be made alive who were dead in trespasses and sins wherein in time past you walked according to the course of this world according to the prince of the power of the air the spirit that now worketh in the children of Disobedience among whom also we all had our conversation in time past in the lust of our flesh fulfilling the desires of the Flesh and of the mind now look at this verse three and were by nature and were by Nature the children of Wrath even as others but God who is rich in Mercy for his great love where with he loved us can I tell you we follow Satan we become like Satan we follow God we become Sons and Daughters of God we follow after Satan we become like him children of Wrath children that are destined for judgment we follow after God we become like the sons and the daughters of God through the power through the power of the Holy Ghost now the original man was made in the image of the likeness of God you you can't get around that the original man was made Genesis 1: 126 he was made in the image and it was made in the likeness of God the original man I'd like to take the remainder of my Bible lesson tonight and tell you give you a few scriptures of what God can do with us what God can do with us if we will allow the Holy Ghost to move through our lives and I'll say it again maybe next week we'll get to tongues but I had so many people last week come to me from young people to older people that came to me and said brother car penter thank you that you told me about the joy of the Holy Ghost thank you that you told me that it's not an emotion that having the Holy Ghost is a confidence that we ought to have inside now I want to tell you this tonight I'm thankful for for the experience of receiving the Holy Ghost I'm thankful for every spiritual moment for every spiritual High I'm thankful for the spiritual High brother Nolan that we had at youth retre ret treat I I I'm so thankful for those two nights that was that was a spiritual High how we were all slang the spirit and worshiping God I thank God for that but you can't live for God on spiritual highs you've got to keep the Holy Ghost active always in your life when you fall when you have a bad day get up the next day and have a better day when you when when you have some things come your way don't go from month to month don't go from spiritual High to spiritual High get the Holy Ghost just moving in your life just because it it's amazing how the change that God can bring about in your life not from a spiritual high but from something called consistency I would rather a person have a five minute A Day prayer life than a twoh hour prayer meeting once a month I would rather you pray five minutes a day every day than to have a two-hour prayer meeting only once only once in a month why consistency ever brings a change in your life oh you know those beautiful smooth rocks that you go down to the landscaping companies and pay big money from for where did them Rocks come from they came from creek beds they came from River beds where the water continually washed over the water continually washed over old rough Jagged rocks and over time water has worn off the jaggedness and there's a beautiful round stone that someone would want in a flower bed that's the same way church with the Lord that's the same way with the Holy Ghost don't get into this big mindset of a big spiritual High just live for God every day and say God let the word flow over me and let your spirit flow over me God you're going to make a better man out of me God I'm not what I want to be but thank God I'm not
