i want to call your attention to the book of second corinthians the 11th chapter 2 corinthians the 11th chapter we're going to read four verses beginning with verse number one second corinthians 11 beginning at number one would the god ye could bear with me a little in my folly and indeed bear with me for i am jealous over you with godly jealousy for i have espoused you to one husband that i may present you as a chaste virgin to christ a bit of background paul is speaking to the corinthian church he's talking to them about his attitude toward the church he said but i fear lest by any means as the serpent beguiled or deceived eve through his subtlety so your minds should be corrupted from the simplicity that is in christ for he that cometh preacheth another jesus everybody say another jesus whom we have not preached or if ye have received another spirit which you have not received or another gospel which ye have not accepted you might well bear with him for a few moments tonight i want to speak to you on this subject identity theft another jesus let's pray savior i love you god i'm grateful for your presence that we have already experienced lord for the praise and worship that has been so mightily presented for your precious power and holy presence that we've already experienced almighty god i pray that your word would minister to our hearts lord that we would accept receive and act upon all you have for us lord we're grateful we're thankful and we love you for this opportunity in jesus name we pray amen identity theft is defined as a fraudulent acquisition and use of a person's private identifying information usually for financial gain the federal trade commission received more than 2.1 million fraud reports from consumers in the united states in 2020 according to newly released data with imposter scams remaining the most common type of fraud reported to the agency consumers reported losing more than 3.3 billion dollars in fraud in 2020 up from 1.8 billion in 2019. nearly 1.2 billion of losses reported last year were due to imposter scams while online shopping accounted for about 246 million in reported losses from consumers i'm not here tonight to sell anyone lifelock insurance i'm not here to give you any recommendations on keeping your credit cards and your personal information safe but it is indeed my intentions to give you spiritual application if you will heed what this preacher says because i want the church to know that the enemy himself is doing his best to redefine and change the identity of who jesus really is to all he can deceive in our text paul used the term another jesus this passage illustrates that paul had a special heart for the corinthian church specifically he was speaking to a church that he had helped establish and he was concerned for its well-being he was expressing a fatherly affection for the church and keeping the church in the comparison as the bride adorned for the husband saved for christ he used words like espouse which means to marry and words like godly jealousy he said for i'm jealous over you with godly jealousy i have espoused you i have desired to marry you i've reserved you the church as the bride of christ and he said i want to present you as a chase virgin that term chase means celibate pure in thought and act modest that's what chase means but he said but i fear lest by any means as the serpent beguiled eve through her his subtlety so your mind should be corrupted from the simplicity that is in christ as pastor let me assure you i have no aspirations to be recognized as the greatest pastor in the world my reputation or fame is not preeminent in my mind but i am jealous over first apostolic church of knoxville with a godly jealousy i indeed have the responsibility to present you the church of god unto christ virtuous chaste pure the bride of christ one not violated with affairs and relationships with sin that's why we preach as we do you see salvation's plan is a simple one it's not complicated nor difficult to understand or obey he said i'm worried that your minds are going to be corrupted from the simplicity that is in christ what's he saying this plan is simple it's not complicated it's not difficult it's not hard to attain salvation you see a church that is familiar with the jesus of the bible will have no problem committing to repentance being baptized in the name of jesus christ for the remission of sin and receiving the baptism of the holy ghost evidence was speaking with tongues it's just that simple but then paul identifies he said somebody's coming preaching another jesus it's a jesus that apparently paul is saying there's some spiritual identity theft about to take place there's another jesus it's not the jesus of the bible that we know and sadly in this day that we live in there's too many pulpits that are preaching another jesus it's not the jesus of the bible that we know about it's a jesus that i'm hard-pressed to identify as the jesus that i grew up with it's not the jesus that i found in an old-fashioned altar when i repented of my sins it's not the jesus that i'm familiar with when i was baptized in the river at age seven you see i've walked with him almost all of my life but i keep hearing about another jesus another gospel another doctrine now i hope i won't offend you and i hope you'll stay with me but i want to give you an example of how the world sometimes views jesus there's a has-been punk rocker from the 70s in fact i'd call him a never was but whatever his name of all things was billy idol billy idol was from england and he penned or actually sang these words he said i don't care if it rains or freezes long as i've got my plastic jesus riding on the dashboard of my car through my trials and tribulations and my travels through the nations with my plastic jesus i'll go far apparently he's singing about a plastic statue that stuck to the dashboard of his vehicle writing down the thoroughfare with a nose up in the air a wreck may be a head but he don't mind trouble's coming he don't see it he just keeps his eyes on me and any other thing that lies behind with my plastic jesus goodbye and i'll go far i said with my plastic jesus sitting on the dashboard of my car when i'm in a traffic jam he don't care if i say an expletive i can let all my cursing roll because jesus plastico doesn't hear because he has a plastic ear the man who invented plastic saved my soul with my plastic jesus goodbye and i'll go far i said my plastic jesus sitting on the dashboard of my car and if i weave around at night policemen think i'm very tired they'll never find my bottle though they ask cause plastic jesus shelters me for his head comes off you see he's hollow and i use him like a flask whoa save me isn't that disgusting isn't that amazing that someone's mind can be so twisted and turned to think of jesus in such guttural horrible terms but before we get too offended at billy idol and the plastic jesus i submit to you that there are many who are portraying jesus just as irreverently as those words that were penned you see there's some now that's telling us we've got a powerless jesus he was just a man he was just a prophet his miracles were no more than parlor tricks and illusions he's just a fable he's a plastic baby in a manger he's a figure on a crucifix he's the focal center of a painting by davinci call the last supper he's just the eternal son of god he's the second person in the trinity let me tell you the enemy is trying to steal the identity of who jesus really is you better know jesus and really know who he is today don't you be fooled and don't you be misled by those that'll tell you about another jesus you see john made it clear in john 1 1 in the beginning was the word the word was with god and the word was god the same was in the beginning with god all things were made by him and without him was not anything made that was made in him was life and the life was the light of me okay i got it do you because the same chapter verse 14 said and the word was made flesh who was flesh it was jesus manifest in the flesh do you know jesus today he's not i got to slow down y'all are preaching me to death he's no second person in the trinity he is the almighty god he's no eternal son he is god manifest in flesh he is the word dwelling among man colossians said it this way in colossians 2 and 8 beware lest any man spoil you through philosophy and vain deceit after the traditions of men after the rudiments of the world and not after christ i don't care what the nicean council said sounded good i don't care if someone tries to tell us man if you apostolics would just be like everybody else and baptize like everybody else beware unless any man spoil you through philosophy and vain deceit verse 9 said for in him dwelleth all the fullness of the godhead bodily for ye are complete in him i don't need a plastic jesus i don't need a powerless jesus i don't need another jesus if you're in this house tonight and you don't know jesus this is the place to find him [Applause] it matters not the philosophies of man the dogmas of denomination you better know jesus for who he is tonight ye are complete in him which is the head of all principality and power tim first timothy said it this way and without controversy great is the mystery of godliness god was manifest in the flesh not part of god not a portion of god god was manifest in the flesh listen you better be excited if you really know who jesus is [Music] but let me tell you there are still others who are preaching the prosperity jesus the health wealth and prosperity automatically comes with serving jesus yes there are benefits that come with serving him and putting one's life under his disciplines will prosper you however to equate opulence and excess gluttony and gorging with the blessings and approval of god you're hearing another jesus preach that's not the jesus we serve isaiah said he is despised and rejected of men a man of sorrows acquainted with grief and we hid as it was our face from him he was despised and we esteemed him not let me tell you he will bless you he will reward you for your giving but we will never find the reward that heaven has so sweet for us in these earthly things the things that are valued by so many those things that folks raise up as being successful and wealthy wealthy or nothing you see my daddy owns it all jesus owns it all he owns the cattle on a thousand hills i'm not looking for an earthly dwelling i've got a mansion in heaven that i'm making my plans to be a part of yeah i've heard the songs lord just build me a cabin in the corner of glory land man i ain't looking for no cabin i'm looking for riches and toes i'm looking for walls of jasper gates of pearl but that's not on this earth that's my heavenly hope get to know the real jesus that's what you got in store for you [Music] [Applause] philippians said that i may know him and the power of his resurrection man we like to preach about that come on easter sunday i want to know the power of his resurrection all we do we celebrate but then it says in the fellowship of his sufferings being made conformable unto his death we've got to realize before there could be a resurrection there had to be the horrors that jesus would suffer and lay his life down from my sin the blood that would be shed the stripes that would be paid all of those things were for me and me stand up and try to convert him into some kind of health wealth and prosperity doctrine a thousand times no that's another jesus i would also tell you there's a legalist jesus running around he's made up of man's rules and phariseesical attitudes jesus healed on the sabbath he fellowshipped with sinners he broke traditions and customs yet he advocated holiness with that without doubt first peter 1 15 said but as he which hath called you is holy brother whitley told us today so be ye holy in all manner of conversation because because it is written be ye holy for i am holy listen the real jesus is still holy and the real jesus expects his followers to be holy as he is holy pastor whitley again so aptly explained to us that holiness is not pharisaical but it's the love of god being expressed in all that we do it's not a bunch of rules of man but it's obedience to god's word finding modesty in our appearance modesty in our conversation finding ourselves representing christ in everything that we do hebrews 12 14 said follow peace with all men didn't think i was going to have to preach for a while brother whitley kept going peace with all men even folks in this world that don't like to be peaceable follow peace with all men and holiness without which no man shall see the lord looking diligently lest any man fail of the grace of god lest any root of bitterness spring up trouble you thereby many be defiled jesus knows how to balance holiness and peace [Music] you got to have both you know we have hole in this conference i believe man we have teaching on holiness and we need to we have to be reminded but i'm not sure we don't need to have some more peace conferences too because it takes holiness and peace in other words getting along with your brothers and sisters getting along with folks in the world who seem to be unlovable because you've got the love of christ in you that don't mean you're being run over but that means you're representing christ jesus knew how to balance holiness and peace wholeness must be preached and practiced to be a jesus name church but peace must be preached in practice as well matthew 11 15 said he that hath ears to hear let him hear no plastic jesus with plastic ears here but where unto shall i liken this generation it is like unto children sitting in the market and calling unto their fellows and saying we have piped unto you and ye have not danced we have mourned unto you and you have not lamented for john came neither eating or drinking and they said he hath the devil the son of man came eating and drinking they said behold a man gluttonous and a wine bibber a friend of republicans and sinners but wisdom is justified of her children there's some folks you can't be strict enough and there's some folks you you just can't be loose enough he said there's one bunch they're they're saying we played our music you didn't worship with us we're so strict look at us man man check us out we're they said oh john's got a devil he's not strict enough he he's unorthodox then jesus comes along with jesus is going to the house of sinners and he he's gluttonous he's a wine bibber he he fellowships with publicans but notice notice what it said when i started preparing this i didn't know pastor fallon was going to be here wisdom is justified of her children and her grandchildren first apostolic church what kind of children are we producing you want to know what kind of church this is are we producing children that as soon as they get out from under the covering of the church denomination doesn't matter oh i'm just glad they're going to church somewhere no i want a bunch that says if they're not preaching the jesus name apostolic [Applause] [Music] i want some young folks that if somebody asked them what they believed they're not always sending them to the pastor and say let pastor give you a bible study they're sitting down saying i want to tell you about what i know i want to give you a bible study give me my children and my grandchildren that are starting apostolic churches that oh hallelujah hallelujah [Music] wisdom is justified of her children what kind of children are we producing what kind of jesus are they preaching are they loyal to the jesus name message have they become comfortable with somewhat close jesus are they satisfied with feeling and fulfilling the lusts of the flesh pastor anthony so beautifully preached to us just a few services back when he talked about the seven sons of skeva about a thought that you could have proxy power with jesus and how they tried to cast out devils by saying we're doing it by the authority of the jesus who paul preached now allow me to compare further for he preached jesus i know paul i know but who are you let me analogize if you would further let me ask us to who among us who we desire spiritual authority at times like a spare tire we want to call on jesus only when it's convenient we want just enough jesus when we're victorious well i want to thank my mama and my daddy and give honor to jesus i appreciate that but are you living it are you serving him every day do you really appreciate the fullness of who jesus is you see there's no proxy power here i'm glad you had a praying grandma who prayed for you when you got trouble coming grandma ain't going to always be there your pastor's not always going to be there your mama and your daddy's not always going to be there you can't say i rebuked this in the name of the jesus my grandma was preaching you better have a relationship with jesus for yourself don't try to find proxy power that's another jesus and there's only one way you get that power acts 1 and 8 y'all can help me quote it but he said but ye shall receive power after that the holy ghost has come upon you you want power in jesus name the real jesus you need the power of the holy ghost living in you he went on to say you shall receive power after the holy ghost says come upon you and he and ye shall be witnesses unto me both in jerusalem in all judea and in samaria and under the uttermost parts of the earth first apostolic church we've got to keep witnessing we've got to keep carrying the gospel and notice what happened and when he'd spoken these things while they beheld he was taken up jesus been translated and a cloud received him out of their sight and while they looked steadfastly toward the heaven as he went up behold two men stood by them in white apparel which also said you men of galilee why stanjeek gazing into the heaven i don't believe that says another jesus it said this same jesus not a plastic jesus not a health wealth and prosperity jesus not a powerless jesus not a legalist jesus but this same jesus the same jesus who had scars in his hands the same jesus who had bled from his side the same jesus who had promised the power of the holy ghost this same jesus which is taken up from you to heaven shall come in like manner as ye have seen him go into heaven jesus is coming back jesus is coming back i want you to know it jesus is coming back stand with me musicians get ready you see there's power and authority in the name of jesus i would remind you when saul was baptized and would become paul you can read about it in acts 22 i'll paraphrase when he was on the road to damascus and he was stricken down by great light he said lord who art thou and a voice out of heaven said i am jesus now is there any doubt who the lord was is there any doubt any questions in the house he said lord who art and the voice out of heaven said i am jesus same chapter go down to verse 16 it said you see saul was ready to get baptized he said and now why terrorists thou arise and be baptized wash away thy sins calling on the name of the father the son and the holy ghost is that what that says no it says calling on the name of the lord is there any doubt in the same chapter the same saul that was going to be paul revelation had already taken place whose name to get baptized in if he was going to get baptized in the name of the lord it had to be that same jesus that had spoken out of heaven let me tell you if you hadn't been baptized in the name of jesus christ for the remission of your sins you need to do that tonight [Applause] colossians said this whatsoever you do inward or deed now what does that mean it means what you say and what you do it's not just by the authority like the proxy attempt by the sons of skeva whatsoever you do in word or indeed do all in the name of the lord jesus let me tell you if you don't know the real jesus tonight's the night to get to know him tonight's tonight to know the real jesus i skip around quickly galatians said it this way he said i marvel that ye are so soon removed from him that called you into the grace of christ unto another gospel don't let some other gospel come along be perverted in your eyes which is not another but there be some that trouble you and would pervert the gospel of christ listen this is not up for discussion it's not up for debate he said it's simplicity but he went on to make it plain he said but though we speaking of himself speaking of the galatians but though we we're an angel from heaven yeah man that that carry a lot of weight with a lot of folks listen if an angel floats down and starts telling you you don't need to be baptized in the name of jesus you know what kind of angel that is that's an accursed angel there's no new revelation there's no new doctrine there's not another jesus he said though we or an angel from heaven preach any other gospel unto you than that which we have preached unto you let him be accursed and he went on to repeat it again and he said as we said before i said just in case you didn't get it the first time are you listening so say i now again if any man preach any other gospel unto you than that yet receive let him be accursed now listen i do not claim to be any great bible scholar [Music] but you don't even have to understand greek or hebrew to realize the simplicity that is turning your life over to jesus now in our text he said i'm afraid that your minds are going to be corrupted from the simplicity that is in christ when they ask peter on the day of pentecost what must we do then peter said unto them fill out a card shake your hand make application you can be a member of the church in six months we'll vote you in no that's not what peter said peter said repent be baptized every one of you not that wants to he said be baptized every one of you now i know some of y'all said why do you keep preaching this preacher because it's that simple be baptized every one of you in the name of jesus christ for the remission for the forgiving the washington wave and you shall receive the gift of the holy ghost preacher that's too simple no it's just that simple you need witnesses if i started having folks raise their hands are there any witnesses that jesus is the healer in this house raise your hand is there any witness in the house that jesus is the provider raise your hand is there any witnesses in this house that jesus can do the impossible in your life would you raise your hand hallelujah now look around you is there any witnesses that jesus is the savior would you raise your hands now would you worship him just a moment he is the savior he is the deliverer he is the provider hallelujah hallelujah i don't know what they're going to sing we might get loud or we might do whatever but all i want you to know is we're still serving the real jesus i said we're still serving the real jesus in this house jeremiah got disheartened and said i'm not going to mention his name anymore but he said i couldn't contain it i couldn't fall there he was like fire shut up in my bones if you've experienced if you've experienced the name of jesus i want you to step out in the aisle and come forward if you don't know him i want you to come with him and you get what you need from jesus tonight come praise him come worshiping come thanking him because he is the jesus hallelujah [Music] hallelujah yeah [Applause] sing it unto the lord [Music] [Music] jesus said everything you said is true but i'm greater than abraham but before there tell you was jesus is [Applause] [Music] he's coming back again [Music] [Applause] every time let's praise the lord [Music] he's a rock of all ages [Music] [Applause] [Music] [Applause] [Music] christ created everything and if jesus christ is [Music] [Applause] i know jesus is the son i know jesus is the holy ghost and all these three are one let me tell you who jesus is [Applause] he's the son of man he's coming back again would you love jesus aren't you glad you know jesus aren't you glad you know jesus [Music] glory it would be such a shame to have such a simple yet marvelous revelation and not share it with this world i charge everybody in this house as we go from this place today share jesus with everyone around you everyone you come in contact with every time you get the opportunity let your life exemplify jesus let it open up doors that you can tell people about jesus know how to treat your fellow man know how to treat your neighbor know how to love one another let jesus be exemplified in your life first apostolic church i love you remember we're starting prayer revival tomorrow night 7 30 we'll be here for a season of prayer tuesday night again prayer time at 7 30 wednesday night we'll be having our communion service we're expecting a great time of the lord as we move closer into the kingdom of god and do greater work for the lord whatever your personal protocol allows i ask you to greet each other in dismissal you're dismissed in jesus name
