i'm gonna let you start moving to your seats greetings and welcome to sunday night service here at first apostolic church i welcome all of those who are joining us by way of worldwide media we're honored to have you worshiping with us so good to see all of you that are here in the house of the lord tonight we give honor to our leadership to our bishop to our pastoral staff to elders and ministers and to the saints of first apostolic church it is always an honor and a privilege anytime i have the opportunity to preach first apostolic church and i realized that we have talked at length tonight about the loss of our dear elder elder richmond but i do believe in giving honor where honor is due and please allow us to uh just talk about things a little bit uh i too am uh so blessed because of the legacy of the richmond family and if i would start reminiscing i would be taken away from some of the mighty things that i'm sure you will hear wednesday night because uh this family has rich heritage in the roots and the foundations of first apostolic church and i would ask you to uh please be here again i would remind i know some of the choir was in uh transit as bishop uh announced but i would remind you again from 5 30 until 7 30 we will be visiting with the richmond family here for visitation time then at 7 30 we'll begin the homegoing celebration of elder charles richmond on wednesday night and we want as a church family to be here we'll be singing we'll be rejoicing we'll be reminiscing and we will be honoring a great great man uh one of the greatest honors i noted again to bishop mccool tonight i looked around uh all of elder richmond's family that's part of this assembly they're here tonight they're in the house of god because that's just what the richmond family has always done i looked for the charlie richmond he was down here with the elders and ministers praying for the sick i saw sister kathy up in the choir singing looked over his grandson brother chuck richmond was right there at his post playing his instrument and that's just what the richmond family does so i'm thankful for them and i'm praying that god would give strength in this time we talk about it this is not really a loss because we know where he is and where he's going so we're going to celebrate how about it i'm excited to get into the word of the lord with you tonight and i hope that i have something that uh will just keep us reminded of how blessed we are i would call your attention to the book of first john the second chapter the book of first john the second chapter and we're going to begin reading at verse number 15. first john 2 beginning with verse number 15. love not the world neither the things that are in the world if any man love the world the love of the father is not in him for all that is in the world the lust of the flesh bless the eyes the pride of life is not of the father but is of the world and the world passeth away and the lust thereof but he that doeth the will of god abideth forever little children it's the last time as and as ye have heard that antichrist shall come even now are there many antichrists whereby we know that it is the last time they went out from us but they were not of us for if they had been of us they would no doubt have continued with us but they went out that they might be made manifest that were not all of us and please no notice verse number 20 but ye have an unction from the holy one and ye know all things let me read that again but ye have an unction from the holy one and ye know all things for a few moments i would speak to you on this subject we have an unction how to be a know-it-all let's pray god we love you god i'm grateful for your power and your presence that we felt in this place i thank you for the praise that we've been part of i thank you for moving on us mightily i thank you for your comfort and strength that's in this house god now let us feast at your table and study from your word let us be enriched lord let us be challenged let us be changed by all that you have for us in the name of jesus we pray amen and amen the events of the past few years pandemic included combined with worldwide social media interaction economic distress social unrest has made even the most skeptical of doubters at least take note of the bible and its end time prophecies the revelation that has spoken of the mark of the beast and the ideas of taking a mark and not being able to buy or sell all of the things that uh are found in the word of the lord now seems a bit more possible to even the most skeptical of individuals the one world currency a one world government how easily we all realized just in the past couple of years the power to buy and sell can be greatly influenced by governmental leadership how food supplies can almost instantly be threatened and worldwide instability can seem to just crop up overnight the influences the idea of cashless societies uh i found out the other day uh i still been trying to figure out what they're talking about about bitcoin just when i thought they had it figured out then they said there were bitcoin mines in tennessee i didn't even know it came out of the ground and apparently it doesn't but it was using electricity and there was uh so don't expect me to explain that to you tonight either but suffice to say the idea of the antichrist has more and more at least been brought to man's thoughts many are concerned many are now seeing the possibilities and how easily some of these things can seemingly overnight come to pass that term antichrist is something that we as a church should indeed have wisdom and understanding about in fact when it comes to spiritual things i want to be a know-it-all i want to know all things we want to know what's coming what's ahead of us we want to be as educated as spiritually as possible but please do not take the introduction of this message as being something ominous or an attempt to use scare tactics to get your attention for i would read to you what the revelation says revelation 13 16 says and he calls us all both small and great rich and poor free and bond to receive a mark in their right hand or in their foreheads and that no man might buy or sell save he that had the mark or the name of the beast or the number of his name here is wisdom let him that hath understanding count the number of the beast for it is the number of the man and his number is 603 score and six now if you expect me to go from here and give you some new revelatory information you're going to be sorely disappointed because i'm not coming tonight to try to give you facts figures numbers and suspects of who the antichrist is going to be and what the number is if it's going to be a vaccine or it's going to be a bitcoin i didn't come to talk about all that tonight in fact [Applause] i would rather take mark twain's approach it ain't those parts of the bible that i can't understand that bother me it's the parts that i do understand let's talk about what we know tonight how about it let's concentrate on what we do know and what we do understand first corinthians 2 12 says now we have received not the spirit of the world but the spirit which is of god that we might know the things that are freely given to us of god i want to know some things about god i'm not so much worried about what the enemy's coming up with i want to be a know-it-all when it comes to the things of god tonight how about you he goes on to say which things also we speak not in the words which man's wisdom teacheth but which the holy ghost teacheth comparing spiritual things with spiritual the natural man receiveth not the things of the spirit of god for they are foolishness unto him neither can he know them because they are spiritually discerned if you want to be a know-it-all spiritually you got to have spiritual discernment and quit worrying so much about man's ideas man's theology man's hypothesis but he that is spiritual judgeth all things yet he himself is judged of no man for who hath known the mind of the lord that he may instruct him who thinks they can figure out what god's thinking anyway i don't care what doctor what theologian what talking head i don't care how many networks they've been on i don't care how many fellows and fellowships they're part of who thinks they know enough to speak for god his word has already said it his word has already settled it he said but we who the children of god the people of god but we have the mind of christ when we start thinking like jesus when we start thinking on spiritual things when we start getting excited about what god's doing our text said love not the world neither the things of the world that's the problem when we fall in love with the things of this world we develop a spirit of the world and you see while we want and are concerned with reasonable spiritual intuition about the coming antichrist he let us know that there are antichrists around us right now while somebody's over here trying to add up numbers and figure out who and what is the beast and what is the antichrist i'm here to tell you first john 2 18 said it this way little children it's the last time we're living in the last days you better hear me and as you have heard that antichrists will come even now there are many antichrists whereby we know that it's the last time the antichrist is coming but we're what are we doing about the antichrists that are around well what do you mean well now let's define what does that mean the prefix anti we learned that in school what does anti mean that means not anti-social means you're not social being opposed what is not what is being opposed to christ that's around us right now before we worry about who what when and where what do you have in your life that's being antichrist that's influencing you to love the world instead of love christ sure we can be concerned about those other things but let me ask you does your entertainment exemplify christ or is it anti-christ does my music promote perversion promiscuity and non-christ-like attitudes and lifestyles that's called antichrist music the songs the singers the writers who live out an anti-christ lifestyle are too often given influence and voice in our lives lives lived in opulent excess we seem to applaud rather than be appalled by we would not dare take the mark of the beast to buy or sell yet we will take the mark to look like and support the antichrist actions of a lot of these folks too often we support actors and entertainers who are pushing perverted or murderous agendas concerning homosexuality and abortion we too often support their forums and their platforms hear me that's antichrist there's going to be ant somebody better hear the preacher tonight while we're worried about what's coming what's around you what are you marching with what are you comfortable with what does your t-shirt say athletes who oppose church and a christian way of lifestyle will idolize them and buy their jerseys we'll join hands with denominations that are anti what christ is really about first john 2 22 said who is a liar but he that deny that jesus is christ oh preacher what does it say he is antichrist that denieth the father and the son bishop keep preaching the apostolic message and teaching us like you did wednesday night we need to keep telling everybody that jesus was god manifest in flesh we need to keep telling our kids there is one lord there is one faith and there's one baptism i'm not being a bully i'm not being brash but we can find ourselves joining hands with antichrist doctrines [Applause] whosoever denieth the son the same if not the father but he acknowledgeth the son he that acknowledged the son hath the father also don't come trying to tell me that we've got a three personage god head don't come trying to tell me that there are three persons in the godhead there is one god who was the god in creation he was the son in redemption and he is the holy ghost indwelling in us right now i don't want to be antichrist by dividing him up and trying to create some manmade powerless godhead [Applause] are we antichrists in our politics some of us will vote our wallets before we will vote our morals he said there'd be many anti-christs but i've got good news for the house we've got something that others don't have for our texts said but ye have an unction from the holy one and you know all things we have an unction we have an ancient what's that look it up unction means you have anointing it's just that simple we have anoint everybody in the house as holy ghost phil say i have anointing say i have anointing let me tell you when you got the anointing of the holy ghost you know some things there's an intuition about you spiritually that'll give you guidance and strength what makes us different from the rest of this world we have an unction we have an anointing we have a call of god why does it feel different when you walk in an apostolic church from the first note to the last amen there's something different why because there's an anointing there listen i don't want to be here if we got to be like everything else i want there to be an anointing in this house when we walk in i need anointed greeters i need anointed musicians i need anointed preachers i need anointed ushers i need anointing if you're going to work get anointed let the holy ghost get a hold of you give me anointed teachers and preachers give me anointed workers in the kingdom of god give me anointed saints that want to do a work for god we have an unction we have the anointing [Applause] let me tell you something else about the anointing notice the play on words the function of the unction is to give you compunction let me say that again the function of the unction is to give you compunction now let's define it you know what the function means it's what it's for function is the whole the anointing of the holy ghost compunction means this a feeling of guilt or moral scruples that prevents or follows the doing of something bad there's too many folks have lost their compunction we call it having a conscience yes but you know scripture bears that out right first timothy 4 1 said now the spirit speak expresses expressly that in the latter times some shall depart from the faith giving heed to seducing spirits doctrines of devils speaking lies and hypocrisy having their conscience seared with a hot iron if folks had a conscience there wouldn't be mass shootings if folks had the anointing of the holy ghost there wouldn't be folks marching in the streets for the right to murder unborn babies if folks had the anointing of the i am not being political right now i'm being scriptural right now do you hear me if folks had the anointing of the holy ghost the bad things that mankind is doing to each other right now countries wouldn't be invaded if we had folks full of the anointing of the holy ghost [Applause] speaking lies and hypocrisy having their conscience seared with a hot iron there's no feeling there's no conscious there's no guilt there's no moral scruples that would prevent somebody from doing bad things the holy ghost inside us will give us direction before we do wrong and if we overstep what we should do it'll give us a conscience that drives us to our knees in repentance saying god i'm sorry i've made such a horrible mistake it will give us a conscience you see why do we dress different why do we act different why do we behave different than the whirly crowd we have an anointing we have an action you see the anointing of god on your life changes your loves when he said love not the world some of us when we came to the lord we were so in love with the world every part of you know sundays didn't mean anything to us suddenly it was just another day off you know some of us took that literally that old adage of if you give a man a fish you can feed him for a day if you teach a man to fish you'll buy a bass boat and never go to church on sunday you know suddenly when the anointing the holy ghost comes in sunday's become a different day for us i i got to be in the house of god you know if our schedule changed we go on vacation man i i feel guilty if i'm not i'm not in church or i'm not at least checking out the the live stream i got to have some church i got to get my fix there's there's something there that drives me to those things i can't stay away from the house of god long i'm not looking for an excuse to miss church i'm looking for excuse to be in church love not the world neither the things that are in the world if any man left the world the love of the father is not in he you can't have two lovers you got to love the father you got to love christ we have an unction the things that the world loves we loathe the psalmist said this and many misinterpret this passage of scripture the psalmist said in psalms 37 4 delight thyself also in the lord and he shall give thee the desires of thine heart many misinterpret that passage of scripture and make that a works scripture if i'll do enough for god he's going to give me what i want and i submit to you if you'll delight yourself in the lord he'll change your wants so you'll be his delight now what do you mean by that preacher i have a confession to make it to everybody i smoke all the dope i want to you know why because god kept me from the want to i've got no want to and i've got news for you some of you came from a lifestyle of sin and when the holy ghost holy ghost got a hold of you he changed your want to the addictions the desires for this world that you used to have god suddenly got a hold and changed you completely the things you used to want to do you became his delight and now you're delighted with your family you're delighted with your friends you're delighted with your church you're delighted with walking with god you're delighted with being a witness you're looking for somebody else to tell about this wonderful gospel [Applause] he'll change your wants and your desires listen apostolic preaching seems so different to most other do not in the nominal world it's just different i've had man your churches are different isaiah 61 said this the spirit of the lord of lord god is upon me because the lord hath anointed me to preach good tidings unto the meek i just like to hear anointed preaching i enjoy hearing the word of god preached by anointed man of god i enjoy hearing anointed women teach and minister because god has given them a special call and a special word for my life notice as he itemized what anointed preaching is like he said the lord hath anointed me to preach good tidings of the meek he had sent me to bind up the brokenhearted to proclaim liberty to the captive and the opening prisons to them that are bound pastor anthony preached mightily this morning he ministered to those who would listen but now about not finding yourself in that offended state not finding yourself unable to worship god because a little something what was he doing he was preaching good tidings he was binding up the brokenhearted he was proclaiming liberty to the listen if there's something been binding you has you captive something you've been letting dwell on you for too long you got it preached to you today to loose it let it go you've got too many blessings the opening of prison to them that are bound to proclaim the acceptable year of the lord the day of vengeance for our lord our god there's no need for me to get up and preach the judgments of god down on everybody god's got everything in control he's going to take care of it that's all we've got to know to comfort all that mourn i repeat it again why is the richmond clan in the house tonight this is where they learn to get come and get comfort they've got an anointing on them there's an unction in their family that was established a long time ago when when their daddy he said well i'm getting baptized in jesus name he had argued on the radio enough to appoint them that mourning zion to give him them beauty for ashes the oil of joy for mourning the garment of praise for the spirit of heaviness that they might be called trees of righteousness the planting of the lord that he might be glorified boy some of us the first time we came to church how low were we i heard one guy use this term he said they were lower than a snake's belly and a wagon root now that's low we came into the church low down beaten down downtrodden but when the anointing of the holy ghost comes in i've seen too many times somebody that they they seemed hopeless they'd come and bow their knees at an altar of repentance and just a little while the saints of god would start praying with them the power of the holy ghost would start manifesting itself and they would surrender and release and all of a sudden the power of the holy ghost would take over their tongue and you could see the trade start taking place they all of joy was being traded for mourning beauty was being traded for ashes their countless changed they became happy things started taking place that's what the anointed preaching brings oh and let me say this for some would say well preacher your numbers say different there are larger churches and the world has a whole lot larger crowds and you i've got news for you god has different mathematics than we do let me give you an example of the way god looks at things and looks at people and looks at size and man's impressions samuel the prophet was looking to anoint a king over god's people god told him to go to jesse's house and there you'd find a king to anoint so samuel did what most would do he obeyed god took the cruse of oil the anointing oil he walked to the house and he began to size up jesse's sons to see well who looks like a king to me the bible says in first samuel 16 6 and it came to pass when they were come he looked at eliab and said surely the lord's anointing is before him but the lord said unto samuel look not on his countenance i don't care if he is a good-looking dude or on the height of his stature i don't care how tall dark and handsome he may appear this is not my king he said because i have refused him for the lord saith not as man seeth for man looketh on the outward appearance but the lord looketh on the heart what was he saying he said i'm going to show you who the king is really going to be quit trying to put in man's idea look we are the church of god i just want you to know when you pull in at 50 20 pleasant ridge road in the city of knoxville you've arrived at the church of god this is first apostolic church that's no brag it's just fact that's where the anointing is and that's where it must stay you need to have the confidence if you've got the baptism of the holy ghost dwelling in you you are anointed tonight notice what happened then jesse called abinadab and made him pass before samuel and he said neither has the lord chosen thee samuel tried to pick one out and god said no now daddy says well i know which one it is and he brought and again jesse made seven of his sons to pass before samuel nope nope reject reject reject reject and samuel said unto jesse or hear all thy children and he said well there remain us the youngest well the baby's not here and behold he's keeping the sheep why didn't he call him in samuel said unto jesse sinned and fetch him for we will not sit down till he cometh hither and he sent and brought him in now he was ready now everybody's got their own opinion of what that means right now but you know what sometimes the world sees the apostolics as being a ready bunch a little rough around the edges didn't look quite as handsome as big brother it's a a rather young group compared to tracing the lineage of other religious persuasions said he was ready and with all of a beautiful countless man that's all but saying he was ugly he was with all that means without a beautiful countless and goodly to look to he he wasn't much to look at you know what the lord said he said arise and anoint him you see this world may see a ready bunch but god sees somebody that's anointed someone that's surrendered all let me tell you no matter your circumstance no matter where you come from no matter your pedigree or lack thereof let me tell you jesus loves you and he wants to use you he wants to make you king he wants to anoint you over all the things that he has given you access to then samuel took the horn of oil and anointed him in the midst of his brethren and the spirit of the lord came upon david from that day forward we may not be much to look at by the world standards our numbers may not compare to the massive arenas and coliseums of the world but here's what they can't deny they can't deny the anointing they can't deny the unction would you stand with me for i have held or withheld one other definition tonight for unction yes it means anointing but there is a second definition of unction it also means ointment balm cream or salve ointment balm cream or salve the unction of the holy ghost is a healing bomb for a wounded life the anointing of the holy ghost is an ointment for an injured spirit it is the salve for a lost soul it is the cream for a boil of bitterness let me ask everybody in this house tonight are you tired of the world and its many antichrists let me remind you it's time for a fresh anointing of the holy ghost in your life if you're in this house and you've never repented of your sins you need the bomb of the holy ghost to come down and overshadow you if you've been living a life of sin if you find yourself tonight in this house and you're so disappointed you're so discouraged i've got the bomb that you need it's the unction of the holy ghost i've got the salve that will heal your wounds the psalmist said this in psalms 92 9 for lo thine enemies o lord for lo thine enemies shall perish all the workers of iniquity shall be scattered but my horn shalt thou exalt like the horn of a unicorn i shall be anointed with fresh oil i wonder if there's anybody in this house that wants fresh anointing tonight i do i want a fresh anointing of the holy ghost i would ask everybody in this house if you want the anointing the holy ghost to rule in your life if you want to be a know-it-all spiritually and have the unction of the holy ghost would you step out and would you make your way around the altar for a season of prayer if you've never repented of your sins would you come and it's just that simple say god i'm sorry for my sinning i want you to fill me with the holy ghost god is here to give you the gift of the holy ghost and give you that anointing that power that unction that you need in fact paul finally let us know this the best way to be in know it all is to proclaim that you know nothing because paul said i'm determined not to know anything among you save jesus christ and him crucified if you'll put jesus at the top of your list if you'll make that your desire he'll let you know the things that you need to know let's lift our hands and love the lord as they sing right now savior i love you savior i praise you god let your healing bond come into this place right now lord you know those that are hurting god you know someone that's in this house right now that's discouraged and downtrodden god i'm praying that right now holy spirit that the holy ghost would come down and overshadow right now in the name of jesus come on would you listen to him right now that simple small voice that you hear that's the unction that's the anointing of the holy ghost talking to you right now saying surrender surrender give it all to jesus right now give it all to jesus i want fresh anointing i want anointing fresh me right now god i need your church god i need your guidance i need your direction i need your power i need your authority [Music] lord every individual in this house let lord let us be anointed when we preach [Music] of our ministry god is your name god in your name hallelujah [Music] is [Music] [Music] it's all about you it's not about me it's all about you it's all about [Music] hallelujah lift your hands and love the lord just one more time savior i praise you savior i praise you lord let your anointing go with us this night lord every task that we face every challenge that would come our way lord let us leave this place with the calm assurance that we have the power of the holy ghost working in us lord we have the knowledge the direction for us to know the things that we must have lord that we can be directed by your love and by your mind to be the witness that we should be be the worker that we should be and lord be the saint that you've called us to be lord go with us mightily let us be in your will in the name of jesus we pray amen and amen be reminded once again the memorial service on wednesday night beginning at 7 30. visitation will be from 5 30 until 7 30. we will come to greet the family and then expect a great time in the lord in all that you do greet everyone as your personal protocols afford you the safety to do so you're dismissed in jesus name shake hands and be friendly
