well I'm going to let you move towards your seats but I say greetings in the precious name of Jesus Jesus thank you for being with us here on this the Lord's day at First Apostolic Church once again we are so honored blessed and privileged to have every one of you here at First Apostolic church we welcome all those who are joining us by all the different platforms of social media we welcome you and we sincerely hope that you can be in service with us very soon and I then say a special welcome so many guests here today we're honored to have you our dear friend the maze we're so honored to have this great family honored to have y'all worshiping with us got so good to have the Wadd family back with us uh uh we we got special attachment I got a feeling they didn't come to see me though uh there's some grandbabies they came to visit with and good to see you folks and then we're so glad to have brother thoron good to make your acquaintance his father pastors the great state of Missouri and I when I whispered that to Bishop I said they they'll he'll have to go talk talk to that person so and all of our guests I don't have all the names in front of me but thank you thank you thank you for worshiping with us today at First Apostolic church thank you praise team for leading Us in worship and praise aren't you thankful that we have the opportunity to praise the Lord today aren't you thankful that we have the freedom to praise the Lord today are you really thankful hey he deserves more than a golf clap this morning he woke me up this morning I'm excited about praising the Lord we started a new year I'm excited about giving him my best praise hallelujah hallelujah well I know I'm supposed to give all of those uh superlatives and welcomes but suffice to say I want us to begin this new year we preached a little bit last Sunday about the direction that we're continuing to go but I'm excited to know and continue in the faith that we have so wonderfully had the opportunity to be stewards of in our community and the ministries of First Apostolic church now if you came this Sunday morning expecting me to present you some obscure passage that maybe you read in your reading through the Bible but you'd forgotten about and you want some new thought you'll probably be disappointed this morning but I have a passage of scripture that I still get excited about that I want to read to you as my text today it it's found in the book of Acts the 2 chapter verse number one it says this and when the day of Pentecost was fully come they were all in one Accord in one place and suddenly there came a sound from Heaven as of a rushing Mighty Wind and it filled all the house where they were sitting and there appeared into them clothing tongues like as a fire and it sat upon each of them and they were all fill with the Holy Ghost and began to speak with other tongues as the spirit gave them entrance and if you notice I probably wasn't reading I was doing a little more quoting we know that we live by that but it goes on to say this verse five said and there were dwelling at Jerusalem Jews devout men sincere men out of every Nation Under Heaven verse Six States this now when this was noised abroad the multitude came together and were confounded because that every man heard them speak in his own language for just a few moments I would use that statement that says now when this was noised abroad to give you this subject for a title today or this qu question actually did you hear that noise did you hear that noise let's pray savior I love you I'm so grateful to be in your house on this Sunday morning Lord I'm so thankful that I have the freedom to praise you Lord I can lift my voice I can clap my hands I can get excited about all you've done Lord I Thank you for the freedom that we have to gather together and worship together now Lord let your word go deep into our hearts today let us be reminded encouraged and strengthened by your word for all this we're grateful and thankful in Jesus name we pray amen did you hear that noise Christians in general but the Apostolic Pentecostal movement specifically are occasionally labeled as as being emotionally driven denomination we sometimes get loud in our music fervent in our preaching and demonstrative in our praise and worship and you see this so-called emotionalism is sometimes spun by detractors as a negative aspect of Faith something that's shallow we are sometimes called those noisy Pentecostals as they roll their eyes and have a disdained expression and I submit to you there's a lot of noise in the world today there's things that we describe as noise Things That Go Bump in the night that's a noise that's when your wife wakes you up and tells you to go see what that was and you wake up the dog and tell him to go check there's the noise of sirens in the distance and if you live in this area at night if you hear sirens in the distance it will be shortly joined by a pack of howling coyotes joining in the chorus jet planes flying overhead that are allows your mind to imagine where the destination of all of those folks might be yes heavy equipment moving dirt on a work site you can sometimes even from nearly a mile away hear the Clack and clatter of the heavy equipment tracks as they do their work and develop the prod property there's a lot of noise around us the irony that I would point out from our introductory statement is the very folks who seem so vociferous in their disdain for boisterous praise or noise as they call it appear to be the part of the crowd that is entertained most by events that expect emotionalism expressive animated and enthusiastic participation noise if you will well I thought I knew what noise was so I wanted to get a dictionary definition to confirm and to my surprise I found out that noise defined is a sound especially one that is loud or unpleasant or that causes disturbance I found that great commentary that we all trust in so much Wikipedia also had a an opinion on noise Wikipedia says this about noise noise is unwanted sound considered unpleasant loud or disruptive to hearing from a physical standpoint notice this there is no distinction between noise and desired sound as both are vibrations through a medium such as air or water the difference arises when the brain receives and perceives the sound what that's really saying is one man's music is another man's noise please know as I itemize here there are event that are not necessarily sinful when I name them but I instead want to give you just a little comparison of that so-called emotionalism that is deemed positive everywhere else but praising and worshiping God political rallies have demonstrations a time set aside for a parade a rally and yes a cheer for their candidate they speak and address this demonstration from all walks of lives professionals White Collar Blue Collar no collar they want to demonstrate for their candidate how did they do it they wear oversized buttons they wear cheap skimmer straw hats they shout slogans they blow paper horns they throw confetti it's time they say to make noise and demonstrate for their candidate and that's okay in the political realm for entertainment I won't ask for a show of hands but if anybody in the house has been a little over a 100 miles east of us to Bristol or maybe you're a little more refined in your motor vehicle racing enjoyment you headed north up to Indie right around Labor Day all they have to say is ladies and gentlemen start your engines see there's some of y'all got chills right there up your back you like that so much and they enjoy that noise so much they charge extra for earplugs I'm going somewhere stay with me if you've ever attended a tractor pool or a drag race I can remember a few times we went to youth rallies over in crossfell Tennessee and on the other side of the interstate over a mile from the church we would be going in for Rally or coming out of the rally and there was a drag strip on the other side of the interstate over a mile away if it happened to be having an event you could hear the motors racing even inside the church and also in your vehicle even if you were on I40 I mean they were making a lot of noise Bishop tells the story several years ago we were moving dirt out here behind the church as we've done many times we were on John Deere tractors and trucks and bulldozers and we had a goal set we were getting ready to build our running track and we were preparing the land through the winter months and uh uh we would haul dirt and and put it in the back of a truck and move it over here and and we were using a lot of volunteer help and we would work at as late at night brother Gary MCU you remember that don't you uh trials and tribulations persecutions trouble and War we were moving dirt and one night the and I did say night we were moving dirt we had a deadline and one night the police pulled up they started waving Bishop went over to them and there had been a complaint in the neighborhood they said y'all are disturbing the peace operating these tractors and bulldozers here at nearly 10:30 11:00 at night Bishop said well we're sorry he said I know it's disturbing somebody's peace but he said when these things are quiet and still it disturbs my peace guess one man's disturbance is another man's peace concerts music entertainment industry it's encouraged to be loud athletic events if you're not loud enough they have cheerleaders bands playing loud flashing signs that say make noise make noise they're setting an atmosphere for victory an organ blare an organ blaring and building to a crescendo to get everybody to yell charge and oh yes we here in East Tennessee we've even taken it to another level when they play that sacred hymn Rocky toop we added woo to it don't act like you don't know what I'm talking about wasn't good enough to sing and play Rocky Top you have to get to one part and say Good Old Rocky Top woo but with all of that said you know what the rest of the world says don't woo in church we ought not to be so demonstrative in the house of God on this first month of the year we can find ourselves so intimidated by everything that the world does that we find ourselves sitting quiet afraid to give God the praise that he deserves the praise team said it we owe it all to him we give it all to him I'm not going to be ashamed in 2024 to lift my voice to praise to shout our text said when the Holy Ghost came in it came in like a rushing Mighty Wind I told you folks if you are expecting something new and obscure you're hearing the wrong message today but I need to remind First Apostolic Church in this new year we are still a church of worshippers and praisers yes we're emotional yes we get excited yes we'll dance yes we'll [Applause] run I've got to be intentional in my emotional noisy and joyous worship you see the reason is I've got some things to cheer about I've got some things to be noisy about we got cheerleaders I wanted to Define decide and Define what to cheer means I we make sure we're we're on schedule here the term cheer means to shout for Joy or In Praise or encouragement praise team thank you for leading Us in worship and praise thank you for encouraging us to worship I want to get you see I I can't play like these folks do I can't sing like they do but I'll guarantee you they get me excited I can worship with the best of them I want to be a worshiper and a praiser it means to shout with encouragement praise or Joy that's cheer cheerfulness optimism or confidence now I realize some of you folks already worried about the weather forecast man is scarest to death they've already called off school twice for wind [Music] woo all the school kids said Woo and the teachers too by the way so why in the world when I think of what God's done for me when I think of His blessings when I think of all he's done I can't say woo Hallelujah I'm excited about what he's done and what he's going to do this year I haven't got time to worry about the forecast I hadn't got time to worry about the politics I'm excited because the holy ghost that fell then is still falling [Applause] now we need to be cheerleaders I'll say it again we need more home on the range preaching where seldom is heard a discouraging word we need some positive preaching letting folks know just how good it is to be holy ghost filled water baptized in Jesus name filled with the Holy Ghost live in a Holiness life that's nothing to be down about we need to lead the cheers there's some things that we need to be cheerful about over in Matthew the 9th chapter we read about Jesus said and he entered into a ship and passed over and came into his own City going back to the the place where he was from and behold they brought to him a man sick of py you know depending on the way you read that you can read that two ways if you punctuate it properly look at that they brought to him a man sick of py I know what it means to be sick with the py but I'm not sure we might not could interpret that he was sick of having the poliy sometimes God's not going to do a work till we get sick and tired of where we've been and we're willing to step out by faith and trust in him I'm sick of some of these things I'm going to get over it and praise him there's some stuff you've been dealing with you might not have get sick enough of it to take it to Jesus and quit carrying it yourself sir he was sick of the py lying on a bed Jesus seemed their faith said unto the sick of the py notice son be of good cheer you got something to get excited about he said fella be of good cheer thy sins be forgiven no wait a minute I thought I thought he was sick of FY there's something we need to notice here in our Humanity some of us are looking for healing before salvation we need to get more excited about forgiveness and then healing can come Jesus forgave his sins before he ever dealt with his ailment Jesus is the forgiver of sin we ought to be excited about that when somebody comes and repents we we ought to rejoice and be excited we ought to be excited that he is still in the Sin forgiving business we ought to Make Some Noise you don't want to know why First Apostolic get gets so excited when a a soul comes to the Altar and we pray for them and God forgives because that is something to cheer about something to be joyful about that's what we get excited about he's the forgiver of sin but how should we act when he does the miracle of healing well acts three gives us an example acts three says verse 6 then Peter said silver go Have I None but such as I have give I Thee this is a disciple being obedient to Jesus command of Greater Works than these shall you do he's going out and he's ministering to a lame man there's going to be a lot of lame situations come to the church yes amen he said in the name of Jesus Christ not in the name of Peter not in the name of the ministry of Peter he said in the name of Jesus Christ we better keep reminded in 2024 everything that we do we do in the name of Jesus we have no Authority we have no ability we have no Talent it is Jesus Christ working in us that affords us the honor and the privilege of ministering any way we Minister he said in the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth rise up and walk and he took him by the right hand and lifted him up now how did this man act he's in church now H how did he act and immediately his feet and ankle bones receive strength and he stood up and tiptoed out he stood up and didn't want to make a scene you know this is a sacred Place let's let's let me slip out of here I can walk now for you see if we aren't careful this is what the world will intimidate us and relegate us to being the world will try to make us timid about what we are oh just keep it in the confines I don't mind y'all being crazy just don't put your crazy on me and he leaped up stood and walked and entered with them into the temple walking and leaping and praising God let me tell you there's a time to come in this house praising worshiping getting excited about what God's done oh yeah we'll be reverent we will have proper order but there's a time to get in the house and get excited there's a time to praise to lift Your Hands First Apostolic church we will not be a bunch of dead heads I said we will not be a bunch of dead heads in 2024 you folks out there on social media you might have lost me I was just going out amongst the praisers and worshippers in this new year I want us to continue to be a church that Praises worships glorifies magnifies the goodness of God he leaping up stood walked entered with them into the temple walking leaping praising God oh brother M I'm sure that was just quiet praise no it says and all the people saw him walking and praising God you see whether it's a physical healing or a Salvation Redemption people are going to see the difference in you yeah people are there's going to be evidence of the spiritual or physical healing that God does it's something we need to make some noise about well let me move quickly we need to be able to cheer and make some noise because we're living a life of no fear let me say that again we need to be able able to Rejoice praise cheer make noise because we're living a life of no fear there's so many people that we're coming in contact with when I say we we as a church family collectively who they are living their lives in fear they're worried about their finances they're worried about the world situations they're worried and and and ently fearful and afraid of everything that goes on some of you folks under the sound of my voice you're having to fight every day to overcome fear in your own life let me read you something Matthew 14:26 and when the disciples saw him walking on the sea they were troubled now I kind of feel like like I I don't know but I sort of kind of feel like if I was in the midst of a storm and the ship was about to go down and I saw Jesus come walking on the water being troubled wouldn't be what I'd be saying wo thank you Jesus here we are but in their circumstances their faith was still weak they were still more troubled by fear than rejoicing by the presence of Jesus it said they were troubled saying it's a spirit and they cried out for fear but straight way Jesus spake unto them saying be of good cheer you ought to be joyous and excited be not afraid it's me Jesus said it's me listen in the midst of your storm if you'll cry out to Jesus you can relieve and alleviate that fear yeah I have seen folks who couldn't even enjoy Their Blessings because they were worried about when Their Blessings were going to end you hear me oh I'm so glad to be in the altar all of my families here we're worshiping God what's going to happen to him tomorrow take no thought of tomorrow be of good cheer he said be not afraid it is I 1 John 4 18 said it this way there is no fear in love develop your love for Christ your love for the work of God your love for faith knowing he's going to take care of your situation but perfect love casteth out fear because fear hath torment don't let the enemy torment your mind with fear worried about tomorrow worried about this worried about that now just understand if you'll do your part God will do his part if if you'll show up he'll show out let me say that again if you'll show up he'll show out now to give an earthy example that won't step on anybody's toes but school kids it's a great thing to pray and trust in the Lord when you're about to take a test but it also helps if you do your part by studying that's right when we say there is no fear that means we need to do our part when we've done everything we can do everything within our power to walk by his precepts his concept to be obedient to worship him then don't be fearful and afraid of what's going to happen he's going to be there second Timothy 1:7 said for God has not given us the spirit of fear but of power and of love and of a sound mind that's something you ought to celebrate and be joyful and worshipful in and then let me hasten toward the end you ought to be joyful and Victorious because he has given you victory over every situation John 16:33 said these things have I spoken unto you that ye that in me you might have peace in the world ye shall have tribulation now Jesus is letting everybody know just because you're joyful and worshipful got the Holy Ghost got baptized in Jesus name you've been going to church paying your ti uh living a holy life you're still going to have tribulation yes yes he said in the world we're living in the world we're in the world but not of the world yes in the world ye shall have tribulation colon he's not finished but be of good cheer get excited Rejoice be joyful be excited because I have overcome the world if Jesus overcame the world we're his children we will be Overcomers how did he overcome he said they overcame by the blood of the lamb and by the word of Our Testimony there's some stuff we've got to speak out and claim in Jesus name in 2024 be cheerful be happy you know let me pause here we if you're H oh I'm happy and I'm excited well if you are notify your face if I could encourage all of us Apostolic Pentecostal Jesus name folk we ought to notify our face to the rest of this world we ought to be a happy people that's right I mean keep smiling the world and wonder what you're up to Bishop tells the story of a little boy went up to his grandfather his grandfather always looks sour and a little bit angry he said Grandpa why do you always look like that he said Son I've got religion said they walked through the Barnard and the old mule had its head sticking out of the stall little boy said look at there that new's got religion too we ought to notify our face if we're excited about what God's done for us there's a concept a sociological concept that they address sometimes it's called what does your resting face look like what does your resting face look like resting face is a facial expression that unintentionally appears when an individual is relaxed resting and not expressing any particular emotion one's countenance a person's face or facial expression just let me brag a little bit sister Jamie sometimes will say why you staring at me CZ I'm in love and she's pretty all the time see I'm embarrassing her real good she she just don't ever look mean unless she means to some of us need to be aware of what the world sees in us that's right when we're in an unguarded moment you see we have the opportunity to be joyous and happy Oh but but you don't know what I was going through at work you see sometimes you you may go through something at work so someone else can see how you react to it and say hey there's something different about that guy there's something different about that lady I I have never seen anybody that could react in such a way and stay Pleasant and stay excited in the midst of some kind of trouble let me tell you we'll have tribulation but we are Overcomers in Christ Jesus Jesus even said it this way in Matthew 6 he said moreover when you fast be not as the Hypocrites of a sad countenance for they disfigure their face that they may appear unto men to fast I'm so hungry verily I say unto you they have their reward Paul is he he said don't go around like you're hungry and starving and serving God is such a bad deal he said but when thou fastest anoint thy head get up clean up comb your hair wash your face that's that they that thou appear not unto men to fast but they that thy father which is in secret and thy father which seeth in secret shall reward thee openly listen if you're a spirit filled Holy Ghost filled person you need to have the AA brother M you're just saying put on you better know it put on Jes Jesus put on the holy ghost man if you're feeling bad start feeling in a different place let the Holy Ghost minister to you even in hard times and troubl times praise team musicians get ready they'll think I'm quitting if you come up here a happy countenance happens in a cheerful noisy situation the psalmist said this in Psalms 43:5 why are thy cast down on my soul why art thou disquieted within me hope in God the first two statements were actually questions see the question mark why AR thou cast down on my soul Why th disqui with me and he speaks to him says hope in God that wasn't a question that was the answer hope in God for shall yet praise him who is the health of my countenance and my God you see when you got hope in God it'll change the way you look it'll change your countenance it'll give you a different perspective on life everything will go better are you preaching the power of positive thinking as they say you cut and chopping right I am cause it is a positive thing to serve God that's right it is a positive outlook listen I don't care if they're calling for snow around here tomorrow it will melt sometime I don't care what the forecast is for your finances I don't care what the current APR is I don't care what the percentage rat may appear like if you keep trusting and hoping in God keep believing keep a positive spiritual Outlook that God's in control he's got this and I'm his so if he's got this he's got me oh hallelujah hallelujah now I'll hasten to close but let me tell you this understand there's a difference in making a Joyful Noise and noise pollution I am indeed aware that even among God's people there's some noise that isn't good if you read over in Exodus the 32 second chapter I'll paraphrase rather than read it and all but Moses had gone up and received the Ten Commandments he came partially back down and he met with Joshua and they started back toward the camp and Joshua said I hear noise coming out of the camp he said but this noise you can again if you need homework read Exodus 32 you can get the whole story he said I I hear noise but he said this noise is is kind of confusing he said there's there's a noise of war in the camp and then he said it's not the voice of them that shout for Mastery it's not the voice of winners he said neither it is the voice of them that cry for being overcome it's not really the noise of defeat he said but the noise of them that sing do I hear he said it's a confusing noise you see there should not be a confusing noise coming from the church it shouldn't be up one day and down the next it shouldn't be high one day and low the next it would shouldn't be conquerors one day and being conquered the next that's right but Joshua and Moses immediately knew that this was not the proper noise to be coming from God's people and sure enough when they came into the camp the people had gotten away from the precepts of serving God they'd become impatient in waiting on Moses to bring them the Ten Commandments and instead they were dancing and shouting around a golden calf an idol and sadly this had been led by the priest Aaron and Aaron made up story he said the folks got impatient said so they broke off all their gold their earrings and their all of their and said we threw it in the fire boom Out jumped a calf it the Bible doesn't say this but the attitude of Moses and Joshua was you know I was born at night but it wasn't last night don't you tell me then this golden calf jumped up out of the fire Moses was so angry that he cast The Ten Commandments down and break them and in Exodus 32:22 trying to give explanation he's now he was the leader at that time he was the spiritual leader while they were gone and he tried to give anger and he tried to settle Moses down and Aaron said let not thy anger of my Lord Wax Hot he don't don't be so upset thou knowest the people that they are set on Mischief those who are set on Mischief are B on having some kind of a god some type of deity someone or something to worship let me tell you we must never mistake the church must never turn its worship to anything else but worshiping the one true God Jesus Christ himself there's no programs there's no plans there's no Outreach that we should worship that it must all be for the cause of Christ in the name of Jesus for they said unto me make us Gods with a little G we are not having multiple purposes and plans our one goal is Souls we're soul winners that's what this place must always be our worship Our Praise everything we do must be directed at being Soul winners stand with me let me warn us all don't allow the noise of confusion of this world to be the noise that we sing and worship to instead every time we come into this house let's take it on as our personal responsibility to create an atmosphere for deliverance of the Lost In This House by being worshippers and praisers let's be a noisy church I mean yeah sometimes the choir things It Might Get Loud and sometimes it does I realize we get vociferous in our worship and for a moment it may be even too loud for some but just hang on we'll cool down just a little bit but we don't apologize for being noisy worshippers some might be oh that's a little bit undignified I saw somebody take off R and maybe you ought to try to catch them be surprised what the Holy Ghost might do for you if you put aside your fleshly inhibitions and say God I'm going to give you everything I God I'm giving you my pride I'm giving you all my self-will God I'm just going to worship you I'm going to put my hands up I'm going to lift my voice I'm not going to be ashamed to be a praiser and a worshipper now listen to me if you thought I was going to finish this message without reading Psalms 100 you missed it bad for this is simply what the psalmist said he said Make a Joyful Noise unto the Lord All Ye Lands what does that mean he said be intentional about it he didn't say let a Joyful Noise happen well you know if it happens it happen no he said come together and practice man get those cords right practice and pray sing prepare those things uh uh all you folks that do sound and and do all this no oh brother M we don't have to have all that I can remember the day when hey look you're right we can have have church without any of this stuff but since he gave us this stuff I'm going to use this stuff the world will try to distract everybody with their stuff and I've got news for you every light every musician every amplifier every sound system every word that they put up there if that offends you I apologize but everything we've got we're going to use it for the glory of God to get somebody's attention to come and repent to come and receive what the Holy Ghost has for them oh may not be your cup of tea That's All Right coffee will be served after a while he said Make a Joyful Noise unto the Lord All Ye Lands serve the Lord with gladness come before his presence with singing know ye that the Lord he is God it is he that has made us and not we ourselves we are his people man that ought to be enough to make you Huck a buck and Shout we're his people and the Sheep of his pasture enter into his gates with Thanksgiving every time you come in the doors you ought to whisper Lord thank you for letting me be here one more time thank you you provide I know I've had a rough day but I'm back in your house thank you Lord I give you thanks praise to get ready enter into his gates with Thanksgiving into his courts with praise be thankful unto him bless his name call on the name of Jesus unashamed why for the Lord is good and his Mercy is Everlasting and his truth endureth all generations that includes Our Generation I'm just here honoring enough to tell everybody whatever you have need of if you'll come today praising and worshiping I believe God has something for somebody if you'll step out by faith and say I'm surrendering all if you need the Holy Ghost come and get it if you haven't repented come and repent whatever you have need of if you need healing come and receive it whatever you need give it to God right now come with hands and hearts lifted come praising him Hallelujah yeah yeah Hallelujah he yeah sing it [Music] now yeah yeah yeah every voice in this place should be raised Hallelujah the Healer in this house right now the healer is in this house right now in the name of Jesus Jesus would you pray right now the Healer stepped into this room give him praise right now we praise yeah in the name of Jesus in the name of Jesus we owe it to him we owe it to him hey Hallelujah oh we owe you praise yes Lord we owe you praise we ow you praise we all you praise you praise we you PR yes we [Music] [Applause] oh yeah we his praise you praise on him it we are hallelujah hallelujah yeah yeah yeah oh all to him yeah we give it all to him lift it all to him we are it it him we it it all yes we give it all we give it all him it all here we are Hallelujah Hallelujah yeah Hallelujah yes Lord yes [Music] Lord 10,000 we couldn't them every voice in the place should be hallelujah hallelujah pra [Music] Hallelujah us now all we would you give him one more
