53 Matthew 13 in verse number 53 and it came to pass that when Jesus had finished these Parables he departed V when he came into his own country he taught them in their synagogue in so much that they were astonished and said whence hath this man this wisdom and these Mighty Works verse 55 is really what I want to draw your attention to here tonight they asked the question is not this the Carpenter son and that's what I want to preach about tonight The Carpenter's son would you set your Bible down would you lift your hands would you lift your hearts to Heaven one more time would you help me pray Lord we love you we thank you for your spirit we thank you for your hand of protection upon us tonight we're thankful God for this opportunity this ability to be in your house to be in your presence God anoint me to preach your word anoint your people to hear your word to receive it and to respond to it speak to us tonight tonight God let us leave here different than what we walked in God work on us tonight in Jesus mighty name we pray amen why don't we clap our hands one more time and the Bible says not only to clap but to shout can you add a shout to your hand clap he is worthy of it hallelujah thank you you can be seated here this evening when the people from The Holy one's Hometown heard him speak they began to question and many questions arose where did this woodworker surrounded by wood chips get such wisdom could a savior come from the shavings lying littered on The Carpenter's floor could salvation come from the shop of the carpenter could an average Artisan be the anointed one could a teacher arise from the tools of the Carpenters bench could this Craftsman be the Christ could this build be the one the one that many prophecies were written about when it comes to the first 30 years of the life of Jesus scripture is mostly silent except for a brief glimpse of him teaching at the synagogue at the early age of 12 we really don't know much about him no Miracles are recorded there's no Ministry that we are aware of there are no quotes quoted there's no scriptures written but Jewish Trad ition would teach us that around the age of 10 Jesus would have been an apprentice of his Earthly Father Joseph in his trade of being a carpenter I find it amazing that he wasn't born into the family of a physician because he is the great physician he wasn't born The Shepherd's son even though he is total and complete sense to me shouldn't he have been born in the castle of a king since he's the king of King Kings and the prince of peace or maybe the Lord of a manner because he is the Lord of lords what about being raised in the home of an owner of a Vineyard knowing that he is the true vine mysak says that he should have been born the son of a psychologist because he is our counselor he probably should have been born the pupil of a professor knowing that he is our teacher he wasn't born into the well-lit home of a candlemaker even though he is the of the world he wasn't born The Apprentice of an astrologer but he is the bright and Morning Star he wasn't born into the noisy domain of a zookeeper although he is the lion of the tribe of Judah he wasn't born the son of a wedding coordinator even though he is the bridegroom and we are the bride of Christ and his first recorded Earthly Miracle took place at a wedding in canaa of Galilee he wasn't born a Baker's boy but he is the bread of life he wasn't born in the lavish life of a lawyer's family although he is the law and our advocate he wasn't born into the household of a judge even though he is our righteous judge and mediator he wasn't born the story book son of an author but he is the author and the finisher of our faith he wasn't born into the fleet of fishermen although several of his disciples were fishermen that he would make into fisher of men he wasn't born with a priest as a parent but he he is our high priest he wasn't born into the home of a map maker but he is the way he wasn't born the son of a scribe although he is the word he wasn't born the son of a stonemason even though he is our Rock the Chief Cornerstone and the stone that the builders rejected he wasn't born into the home of a jeweler even though the gates and walls of Heaven are made of precious jewels he wasn't born the son of a goats Smith but he did pave the streets of Heaven out of pure gold any and all of these would have made perfect sense for him him to make his grand entrance into Humanity but when the almighty God Of Heaven and Earth the creator of the universe when our heavenly father decided to come to Earth robed in flesh he could have came to any house to any occupation but he chose to be born to the family of a carpenter just a common Carpenter see he put on a tool belt and nail apron instead of Royal robes and Fine Jewelry cuz The Carpenter's kingdom is not a flesh and bone or Earthly wealth or royalty but it's a creative Kingdom that is being built by his creative hands see it makes sense to me that he would come as a carpenter son because he created everything John 1 and three says all things were made by him and without him was not anything made that was made Colossians would say it like this for by him were all things created that are in heaven and that are in Earth visible and invisible whether they be Thrones or dominions or principalities or Powers all things were created by Him and for him and he is before all things and by him all things consist Hebrews would say it like this for every house is buil it by some man but he that built all things is God not only did he create everything but he's working on us tonight the carpenter son is Paul would write in First Corinthians we are laborers together with God you are God's husbandry you are God's Building according to the grace of God which is given unto me as a wise master builder I have laid the foundation and another buth thereon but let every man take heed how he buildeth thereup for other Foundation can no man lay than that which is laid which is Christ or Jesus Christ Ephesians would say it like this now therefore you are no more strangers and foreigners but fellow citizens with the Saints and of the household of God and are built upon the foundation of the Apostles and Prophets Jesus Christ himself being the Chief Cornerstone in whom all the building fitly framed together I guess he's a I guess he's a framing Carpenter all the building that was fitly framed together groweth unto a holy Temple in the Lord in whom you also are building together for a habitation of God through the spirit Peter would add this ye also are as livey stones are build up a spiritual house a holy priesthood to offer up spiritual sacrifices acceptable to God by Jesus Christ no wonder he came as Carpenter son he's always been working he's always been building in Matthew 16 Jesus and his disciples come to the coast of cesaria Philippi and Jesus looks at his disciples and he says who do men say that I am and they begin to answer well some say you're this prophet and some say you're that prophet and if we were going to ask them tonight you know we always say they say I always wanted to meet who they are when if we ask they we asked them who Jesus was we'd be here for a week with all the different answers we'd get some would say that he's just a a figment of our imagination some would say that he's just the main character of a story book called The Bible some would say he's the reason a fat man in a red suit comes down our chimney on Christmas Eve other would say he's the reason an Easter Bunny brings us a basket full of eggs and candy on Easter morning you would get a million different answers but Jesus wasn't so much concerned with who they say that he is because he changes the question and he says who do you say that I am see it's not really important who they say that he is today you have to know who he is for yourself you can you you can't can't just go by your parents or your grandparents' religious experience you can't just know that he's the god of Bishop or the god of Pastor but you've got to know him for yourself you've got to know that he is God In the Flesh he is our savior he is our healer he is our deliverer he is our way maker he is our problem Sol he's the one that can do exceedingly and abundantly above all that we can ask her thing I just want to out tonight who do you say that Jesus is and Simon Peter answers Thou Art the Christ the son of the Living God Jesus answered and said in him blessed art thou Simon bar Jonah for Flesh and Blood hath not revealed this to thee but my Father which is in heaven and I say unto thee Thou Art Peter and Upon This Rock upon this truth upon this Revelation he's the carpenter son I will build my church it's not your church it's not my church it's always been his church and if he's the one that's going to build it hell can try their very best but they are not going to succeed if we're built by the carpenter Sun tonight we don't have to worry let the winds blow let the rains fall we are built on a sure Foundation he will build his church and the Gates of Hell shall not Prevail they're going to try they're going to try their very best but their best will not be good enough uh we are built by the carpenter son tonight and not only that but the carpenter son is preparing a place for us he said in John 14 let not your heart be troubled you believe in God believe also in me in my father's house are many mansions if it were not so I would have told you I go to prepare because he's the carpenter son I'm going to build I am going to prepare a place for you and if I go and prepare a place for you I will come again and receive you unto myself that where I am there you may be also now I want you to think about this for just a minute today everything that he created everything that we see here on Earth everything that we can't even see without the help of a telescope all the Majesty of the Sun the moon the stars the Milky Way the galaxies places that haven't even been discovered yet all the beauty that we see here on Earth it only took him six days to create it and it's amazing it it's it's the things we spend our vacation time and our money just to say we've been there just to go look at it just to would you look at that and we just go to get our picture made in front of it the the Splendor of the Smoky Mountains the grander of the Grand Canyon The Majestic Rocky Mountains all the Lakes the rivers and the streams the oceans everything we go and we spend time and money to go see it only took him six days to build it but over 2,000 years ago the carpenter son said I'm going to prepare a place for you and if he made all of this in six days can you imagine what he can build with 2,000 years no wonder Paul said it but it is written I have not seen ear has heard neither has it entered the heart of man the things which God has perect prepared for them that love him I don't know if you can tell by the news almost daily biblical prophecies are being fulfilled the carpenter son is preparing a place for us and he's been preparing it for the last 2,000 years and it's going to be so beautiful it's going to be so wonderful and he's coming back for his church and he's coming back for his bride and I'll just stop right there for just a moment if you're not ready to meet him don't you walk out of this building tonight without knowing that I'm ready to meet him you need to repent you need to be baptized you need to be filled with the Holy Ghost Paul would write in 2 Corinthians for we know that if our Earthly House of this Tabernacle were dissolved we have a building of God a house not made with hands Eternal in the heaven he is our master builder Isaiah 44 and13 says this about the carpenter the carpenter stretcheth out his rule he markethall with the compass Isaiah 41:7 so the carpenter encouraged the Goldsmith and he that smooth with a hammer him that smokee the Amil saying it is ready for the soldering and he fastened it with nails that it should not be moved now I'm not a I'm not a real Carpenter I'm a carpenter wannabe we got some real carpenters in the house I see brother Allan Lee back there I see brother Perry over here those are real carpenters and let me just pause I don't know if I've ever told this story but it's too funny not to tell tonight when I graduated high school in 1995 yes I am old I took the next semester off before I started college at P Pellissippi State and brother Allan Lee was kind enough to hire me uh for that winter before College started in January and one day we were building a house out in pal and brother Allan Lee we were about done with the house and he he said Michael you're no use to me inside you'll have no skill set no he didn't say that but that's what he meant he he said go out and start cleaning the yard up I'm gonna finish up in here and so I go outside and if you know me very well you know that I can very easily my mind can get distracted very easily and so I started making a game out of cleaning up the yard and I found a big thing of trash and I waded it up and we had a burn barrel with a fire going in it and in my mind brother hyr I was I was Michael Jordan game seven of the NBA finals and I had to shoot this basket and make it to win the national or the the the NBA championship and I was making games out of it and then all of a sudden I see a five gallon bucket turned upside down and man I'm I think it was Jeff Hall back then the kicker for Tennessee we're in the national championship and I've got to kick this field goal to win the championship so I walk up to this bucket I back up like I seen kickers do on TV I took a couple of steps over I licked my finger to test the wind and that bucket was getting ready to go flying over into the neighbor's yard and I went with everything inside of me and I kicked that bucket and the it didn't move I felt an excruciating pain shoot up my leg from my big toe I see brother Allan Lee come running outside he's rolling on the ground laughing at me cuz he had put concrete inside of that bucket and I tried to kick it across the yard so I'm not a real Carpenter I'm Carpenter wannabe but I've been around enough carpentry to understand the first thing a carpenter does is he measures the wood and that's what the carpenter son's doing on this Sunday night he's measuring the material he's measuring us not by the world but by his word he's measuring us to see what fits and what doesn't fit and then the carpenter takes out his saw and he saws the wood that's what the carpenter son is doing here tonight he is sawing away and cutting away the things that don't fit that's why the the writer of Hebrews said let us set let us lay aside every weight and sin that so easily beset us cuz not everything is a sin but if it's a weight if it's something that's keeping me from running this race then I'm willing for the carpenter son to measure me and to saw away some things that don't belong in my life and then the carpenter guides the plane and he Sands the wood that's what the carpenter son's doing to us tonight he's sanding away the rough edges on us because I don't want to be an abrasive Apostolic I don't want to ever leave a spiritual splinter in the Eternal epidermis of a soul and then the carpenter takes out his hammer and nails Jeremiah said his word is like a hammer so The Carpenter's son is driving the nails to make sure that we are sure and stable keeping us from being tossed to and fro and carried about with every wind of Doctrine so that the Winds of this world and the storms of life don't blow us away and cause us to venture off course tonight and so the carpenter creates and build something and that's what the carpenter son is doing in us tonight he is creating something in us and out of us it reminds me of the old song I learned a long time ago in Sunday school he's still working on me make me what I ought to be it took him just a week to make the moon and the stars the Sun and the Earth and Jupiter and Mars how loving and patient he must be he's still working on me if you're not impressed by what you see tonight just hold on God's not done the carpenter son's still working on me if you don't like what you see in the mirror every morning you just hold on a little bit longer the carpenter son is not done he's still working on you he's still working on me he's still working on us you know what a carpenter can do I've seen it happen many times in the town I live in Pocahontas Arkansas there'll be an old dilapidated house windows knocked out door kicked in roof felling falling down the yard looks like it's so grown up you're not even you you there's not a lawnmower made you're going to have to rent a a pack of goats to come and and eat the the grass down it's so high but after driving by that house a time or two I'll say man I wish the city would condemn that house and they would come bulldozing but you know what happens few weeks later there's a for sale sign in the yard and I think man there ain't no way that anybody body's going to buy that house and a few weeks later I go by that house again and there's a for sale sticker slapped on that for sale sign and it says sold and I think man there's a sucker born every day but a few weeks later a truck pulls up ladder hanging out the back a crew jumps out of the truck they start working I'll drive by from day to day and and just a little bit of improvement here and a little bit of improvement there and before long there's a new roof there's new paint the windows are new the door is nice they've manicured the lawn and and and they've made that house that was just an eyesore into something can I tell you that is exactly what the carpenter son can do in your life you may came here tonight feeling ran down dilapidated like you don't have anything to give him like you don't have anything worth anything but with the Roman says with a word he can make something out of nothing he can take what seems to be invaluable and he can make something great and Grandeur out of it I don't care who you are you can bring your nothing to him you can bring your Brokenness to him that's why the the one of the Prophecies of the sooncoming Messiah he would give them Beauty for Ashes you may feel like you're nothing you may feel like you have nothing to give you're worn down you're wor out but God is in the business of taking things that are broken God God is in the business of taking things that are burnt God is in the business the carpenter son can make something out of your nothing tonight the carpenter son is building the carpenter son is creating the carpenter son is fixing and you know what else the carpenter son is he's not just a framing Carpenter he's a finished Carpenter cuz Hebrews says looking unto Jesus the the author and the finisher of our faith Philippians says being confident of this very thing that he which ha begun a good work in you will perform it or will finish it until the day of Jesus Christ there's some Carpenters don't pay them up front they'll take the money and get the job halfway done not our men here tonight but other Carpenters but Jesus Christ has already paid the price and you got to understand he will not leave you halfway he will not leave you unfinished but he's got you in this thing to bring you all the way through to finish a work inside of you John 19 and3 I wonder Jesus is hanging on the cross in Calvary I wonder if he ever built any crosses when he was working in the Carpenters shop I wonder every time he took a hammer in nails if he thought about Calvary but he's hanging on a cross and when he had received the vinegar he said it is finished and he bowed his head and gave up the ghost if you'd have been standing there at that calary that day you would have thought the one we put our trust in the one we put our Our Hope in just said it is finished and hung his head and died but when you say it is finished with your mouth today that might mean you're done you're complete you're you're over it but when the mouth that created the Heaven and the Stars when the mouth that spoke the world into existence when he says it is finished he's not saying he's finished it he's dying there's no more but he wasn't finished but what the carpenter son was saying was that he was finished building a bridge Mercy's bridge if you will that would span the last 6,000 years for Calvary and that would span the next 2,000 plus years to right here tonight and he would use two pieces of wood and three nails to build an eternal bridge I'm so thankful for the carpenter son where would we be today if he hadn't built that bridge if he hadn't went to Calvary if he hadn't finished the work that he started Christ was a carpenter and a rare Carpenter too for he made a bridge that reaches all the way from Earth to heaven and across that bridge souls are continually ascending to the place which he has gone to prepare for them so the carpenter son is calling tonight will you answer the call of the carpenter as we stand across this house I close with this scripture Psalms 127 And1 except the Lord build the house except the carpenter son builds the house they labor in vain that build it if you're building your life by yourself tonight it is in vain and it will fail if you're building your marriage by yourself tonight it is in vain and it will fail if you're building your family by yourself tonight it is in Vain and it will fail if you're building your finances by yourself tonight it's in vain and it will fail if you're building your future by yourself it is in vain and it will fail but what we have to do is we have to let the carpenter son build the house we've got to let him work tonight because he's the only one who can do what we need done in our life and you know what there's some Services we come into His holy presence and I just feel like Isaiah sometimes when Isaiah said I saw the Lord sitting on a throne high and lifted up Angels declaring how holy sometimes it's so thick in here that all we can do is just worship and praise and and that's what I I just I can almost see I can just see him on his throne the Angels declaring how holy he is but you know what there's other times like I feel like tonight that the carpenter son says I'm not here to sit on a throne I'm not here to be high and lifted up but instead the carpenter son has rolled up his sleeves and he strapped on his nail apron and he strapped on his tool belt and he said I'm not coming down there to be pretty and I'm not down coming down there to be cute but I'm coming down to work on somebody I'm coming down to fix some things I'm coming down to work on some things I'm coming to fix a broken marriage I'm coming to fix a broken heart I'm coming to help somebody I'm coming to heal somebody the that's what the carpenter son is here to do tonight he's here to work but who will let him and you know what else I've seen I've seen work sites well there'd be a couple of trucks parked you'll see one guy drinking a cup of coffee you'll see another guy on his phone leaning on the tailgate and if you pull up and you ask them hey guys why aren't you working you know what there were reply will be we're here to work we're just waiting on the material to arrive I feel like that's what Jesus is saying I feel like he's standing at this altar right now saying I'm here to work I'm just waiting for the material to arrive I'm just waiting for somebody that's broken to step out of their seat and come down to an altar I'm just waiting for somebody that's hurting to step out of their seat and come down to an altar I'm just waiting for the material to arrive because whenever you bring the material the carpenter Sun begins to work he begins to create he becomes to fix and he starts doing things that nothing else in this world can do for you so as every head is bow every eyes closed all across his house I just wonder tonight Who's the carpenter son calling to tonight I just wonder who he's reaching for tonight would you let him work in your life would you leave your pride in the Pew and just bring whatever it is you've been struggling with with bring whatever it is that you've been you've been wrestling with bring whatever it is that's broken in your life bring whatever it is that needs fixing in your life you may feel like you have nothing you're in the right place this place is the tool bench right here this is the Carpenters bench this altar area is the Carpenters bench he's ready to work on somebody he's ready to move on somebody he's ready to fix some things tonight so if you'd step out of your seat right now everybody that will and just bring that material to the the master tonight say God I've tried to fix it myself but I can't do it I've been to the doctor I've been to the lawyer I've been to rehab I've been to counseling I've been to the psychology God nothing can fix what you can fix in this house in this place no one can do what you can do you're the carpenter son you've been working for a long time You' you been creating for a long time you've been fixing for a long time so I'm putting what's broken in your hands I'm putting what is is is is needs help I'm putting what is deformed I'm putting what is hurting I'm putting God the the Brokenness in my life I'm putting God the hurt in my life I'm laying it at your feet cuz you're the only one God that can fix it tonight come on give him everything you got right now and let the carpenter son fix it he's got his sleeves rolled up he's got his tool belt on he's ready to work in this house if you'll just let [Music] not not done with me you're not done with me [Music] you're [Music] not you're you're not with me there to the [Music] story you're not you're not with [Music] [Music] trust in God myor the who [Applause] [Music] will he will [Music] never I trust in God my the one who will live [Music] never he will [Music] never he he and he and he that's why I TR that's why I trust him I the Lord and he heard and he answer [Music] I you know something else that I've learned in my limited abilities of carpentry sometimes you get a 2x4 some other size piece of wood and it might have a crack in it it might have a knot in it it might be warped and at that point you got one of two options you can throw it in the burn pile and say it's not of any value or you can take another couple pieces of wood and nail them to the piece that's warped the piece that's broken and by itself it's of no value but when you get another piece of wood or another two pieces of wood to connected to it what was once broken and and valuable what was once warped what was once of no value is now stronger than it's ever been before and that's the most beautiful thing about being a part of the church having Brothers and Sisters in Christ by myself I might be War by myself I might be broken by myself I may have problems but I'm not by myself tonight I've got brothers and sisters in the Lord tonight that can get with me and when we are together we're strong than we've ever been before that's the power of unity That's The Power of agreement so I wonder as they get ready to sing again would you just find somebody maybe on your right hand on your left hand hug them whatever you feel like doing tonight and just say I I need you in my life I need you to strengthen me I need you to pray for me I need your help come on we're stronger together by ourself we are not much value but when we get with our brothers and sisters we become something strong we become something [Music] special he
