praise the Lord everyone let's give the Lord just one more praise can we do that Hallelujah Lord we give you praise and honor tonight you are great and you are greatly to be praised we love you we appreciate you Lord and we stand here so humble and so grateful for all of the blessings of the Lord praise the Lord everybody and happy New Year Happy New Year to everyone we are so thankful the Vickers Clan as Pastor said we are so blessed and we are so honored to be with you tonight especially on first Sunday to get this brand new year kicked off and kicked off right for us I'll tell you that for sure for us it is awesome but we are so blessed to be here at First Apostolic Church Knoxville tonight before I get into the word of the Lord tonight I it's a an honor for me to have a few moments to say some things about some people that we respect and cherish from the very bottoms of our heart and I want to say that my family is so thankful for Bishop McCool sister McCool we are so thankful our lives I'm telling you the truth our lives have been changed because of them and we will never forget we'll never forget the Godly leadership the examples The Godly examples and The Godly anointed Ministries that we have experienced over many decades will never forget the rallies never forget the camp meetings and I just want to say to Bishop and sister McCool we love you both very much and thank God for the Legacy the legacies that you are leaving behind a man and then our friends Pastor Mark and sister Jamie McCool we love you so much he he probably doesn't know this but since I was about 16 years old and I was stumbling into youth ministry I've been watching brother Mark McCool from afar and trying my best to follow in footsteps that I saw him walking in but I appreciate him so very much my mother passed away this past March and I preached her funeral and I cannot express to the both of you what it meant to me to look up from that receiving line and to see brother Mark and sister Jamie standing there and it made it easier it was difficult as you know but it made it easier and also to serve our district superintendent Pastor McCool to serve him in the tri-state District what a leader he is and I know that you know that and then also our great friends brother Nate and sister Ashley Whitley my goodness they have been twice now section b as I think section A does as well has a Chris Christmas banquet for leaders and for Ministry and brother Nate and sister Ashley have both come and ministered to us on two separate occasions and man we left better than when we arrived I promise you that brother Nate keep writing keep writing because the labor of love that you're putting in will inspire until Jesus comes amen then there's brother Anthony Pastor Anthony and sister Kelly and I told him just a few moments ago sitting there beside of him Hey listen their their Ministries and their examples are changing lives all across the country and Beyond changing lives for the better but I told him and I want to say this to you the message that Pastor Anthony preached at NYC this past November was one of the best messages that I have ever heard in my life and I mean that brother Anthony it was fantastic I have I have told so many people you need to go listen need to go listen to that incredible message and I thank you Pastor Anthony and we appreciate all the ministry in this church when uh brother Mark called for the ministry to come and pray my goodness all the elders that you have here great great great ministry and I also wanted to say uh brother and sister Perez are they here tonight okay uh brother Perez all right yeah there he is he's my friend I love and appreciate my wife and I both appreciate this fine couple so very much and we give them honor tonight what he is doing with missions America's Multicultural Ministry we are excited great great things are coming in Multicultural Ministry through missions America we give brother and sister Perez great honor and uh just before I read my scriptures I do want to say I've got great friends in the building tonight brother Jason and sister Terry Lambert uh brother Jason was in the Youth Department at the Apostolic Lighthouse when I was youth director and brother vanilla where you were you in the Youth Department when I was youth pastor there you were a little older right brother vanilla is just a Karen brother Jace and sister Terry and their families we love you all so so very much so much God bless you all and I uh also wanted to give you an update I saw there just a moment ago Brother David Peter's name on your prayer request list and just before Christmas brother Chase and my nephew Christian and I we went to visit Brother David uh and to pray with him and check on him and uh he he has stage four stomach cancer and he is choosing not to go through uh traditional treatments but he told me he said brother Mike I want to live I want to live and if God chooses to heal me he said I'm going to give him all the credit and we when we got ready to go about two hours after a two-hour visit man we had a good time with Brother David and I said Brother David I'd love to pray with you and he said please do and he was laid back in his recliner but I'm going to tell you the Holy Ghost failed Holy Ghost fail we begin to pray for him God to heal him God to let him live and I want you to continue to pray for Brother David Peters in Kingsport he is uh he told me he said I've already lived longer than they told me that I would so uh but he's doing good he looked really good and and for that I was very very thankful amen I'm glad my family's here I love them very very much um we're going to look in the Book of Malachi first The Book of Malachi and then we're going to look in the book of Hebrews both of these scriptures are short and they are very familiar to you Malachi chapter number three and verse number six reads this way for I am the Lord I change not therefore you sons of Jacob are not consumed I am the Lord I change not and then our new testament companion scripture is just 11 words in Hebrews chapter number 13 verse number 8 says this Jesus Christ the same Jesus Christ the same yesterday and today and forever [Music] I am the Lord and I changed not Jesus Christ the same I want to preach to you for just a few moments tonight I'll try my very best not to hold you very long it's a holiday and all that but we're gonna we're gonna preach for just a few moments on these two words always amazing always amazing would you pray with me right now father we love you and we're so thankful God for your goodness thank you for your presence thank you for the praise team tonight thank you for this choir that has blessed us so much I thank you for this great church I thank you for First Apostolic of Knoxville and what it means to us and what it means to all the churches that know about it I thank you for the leadership that is here in the great great examples for all of us to look to and all of us to follow I ask you Lord to guard my lips tonight only let me speak the words that you would have me to speak and when it's time for us to go that we would all leave here just a little bit better than when we came in Jesus name I pray amen and amen you know it did not take very long in the Bible after creation for God's greatness to be challenged the serpent smooth talked Eve but Adam chose to fall hard but God already in the beginning had a Victorious lamb that was already slain before the foundation of the world even in the very beginning God was many many steps ahead even though we would not see that lamb for thousands of years Satan thought that he had corrupted the entire human race but there was one man just one who found Grace in the eyes of God and Noah heard the voice of God say to him build an ark just one man out of possible Millions then we read about Nimrod building the Tower of Babel in Unholy Defiance but God confounded their language and the construction project came to a halt very quickly God was always way back in Genesis he was consistently always amazing then there was Sodom and Gomorrah it was corrupt possibly hails a greatest influence to that point in time but but God destroyed it with fire and brimstone saving a lot and his family and then after 400 years of hard slavery Pharaoh said no no no no no to the Hebrews request and to Moses's request from God to let these people go but God sent 10 plagues and changed his mind that's a key word we're going to come back to tonight the fact that God changes things God changes things he's always amazing then we read about the Israelites being surrounded by the Red Sea and by mountains and by the Egyptians that were pursuing hard upon them but Moses spoke these words he said stand Steel stand still and see the salvation of the Lord that's coming and in our East Tennessee vernacular he might have said just watch this watch this as the Red Sea parted and they hiked across on dry ground then there was the city of Jericho that they came to that had high impenetrable laws but listen to me those mighty walls of Jericho crumbled like crackers when obedience and praise collided with God's people hallelujah they marched around that City for six days and on the seventh day they marched seven times and gave an obedient shout of praise and the walls came down I am the Lord I change not amen I am the Lord and I change not way back in Genesis as we March through he's the same yesterday today and forever then there was Goliath he was he was the Philistine Champion he was their Champion but it only took one teenager that belonged to God one sling and one stone giant down I'm the Lord and I change not then there was Jonah the running away that he experienced but then there was a time spent in the belly of that whale but God recommissioned him and Revival still came to Nineveh Then There Was Elijah standing on Mount Carmel he was very outnumbered but he called down a staggering fire out of Heaven he humiliated and he killed 450 prophets of Baal then there was the heroin Esther who made that decision that life and death life or death decision to approach king of has you heiress and she saved all the Jews that were in Persia I am the Lord and I changed not I'm the same yesterday today and forever hallelujah oh bless the Lord I'm not sure if anybody is uh keeps track or keeps records but God is still undefeated we're moving through the word of God very quickly here he's undefeated then there were hungry lions hungry lions and then there was the man Daniel who refused to stop praying and because he refused to stop praying God's response was to change those hungry Lions into their distant cousins the kittens and it was over at that very moment because a man chose to obey God and keep praying Meshach Shadrach and Abednego walked into the fiery furnace and God walked them out on the other side without even the smell of smoke I'm building a case tonight I'm building a case tonight no matter what the situation was in those days no matter what came against God in those days he was always amazing he was undefeated and he changes not we're serving a god tonight who is amazing and he's always been amazing I spent just a few moments there mentioning these things the original sin Against All Odds situations Unholy Defiance corruption slavery entrapment impossibilities Giants and Lions and fire false gods and physical execution but can I say this to you tonight that our great God never flinched not one single time in the face of all of those things did our God ever Flinch he told Malachi I am the Lord I am the Lord and I change not he's always amazing let me respectfully ask you a couple of questions tonight maybe to those of you who are facing 2023 with some trepidation or maybe a little bit of uncertainty or a little bit of doubt might not know what's out there or there might be some things that are lining up doctors appointments and circumstances and situations and you have a little bit of trepidation concerning 20 23 but I just want to ask you this question tonight what makes you think that this perplexing situation that you were facing what makes you think that it is impossible who told you that who told you that this situation that you may be facing is impossible I am the Lord and I change not he knows right where you are he knows every circumstance that you are facing he knows he knows he knows or if we can pick up the phone and call Daniel call Esther call Moses call Noah I believe they would tell us today hey in 2023 have a little faith in the god that you serve he's a waymaking god he's a mountain moving God he always has been and he always will who told you your situation is impossible have a little faith have a little faith the god of Moses he's my God too the god of Esther is my God too my wife and I we were driving back from Gulf Shores yesterday and we were talking about this you know fear is a strong spirit fears a strong Spirit it will make your heart skip a beat you know when you get information or you find something out that's going to cause you some grief fear will cause your heart to skip a beat and it's such a powerful thing if you get a hundred good calls and you just smile every time you hang that phone up but you get that one bad call heart skips a beat oh no oh no that's how powerful that it can be but listen fear never has ever come from God fear does not come from God Amen the Bible tells us that the Lord has not in OT given us the spirit of fear but of power and of love and a sound mind no matter what 2023 might look like if you've got some things laid out there that you're a little bit concerned about I just want you to say over and over and over I will not fear I will not fear I will not fear God has not given me this Spirit if I feel some fear it's not coming from God it's not coming from God changed the mouths of lions he changed the situation with giants he changed situation with Kings he changed situation all over the place so what makes us feel like our circumstances are impossible what makes us think that our circumstances are permanent and cannot change I have any time that I have ever faced a situation that looked like it was kind of set in concrete brother Hamer the situation the circumstance looked like it might be set down in concrete and I didn't know how to change it I didn't know how to roll it back I didn't know how to fix it I just learned a long time ago that I say things to myself like in the name of Jesus in the name of Jesus my circumstances are going to change my circumstances will change it's not an impossibility things can happen things can shake loose in the name of Jesus I just keep telling myself that over and over I know I can't fix it I know I can't make it better but I know my heavenly father can and he's always amazing he's the same and he changes not he can fix it for me starting on first Sunday first Sunday 2023 let's look through the eyes of holy history let's look through the lens of holy history and declare declare out loud my circumstances will change this year it could be Financial it could be circumstantial it could be marital related it could be physical it could be job related it could be anything but just begin to believe and look through the lens of holy history and begin to tell yourself in the name of Jesus my circumstances can change my circumstances a will change this year this year 2023 my impossibility will be overtaken by my Miracle amen how many believe that God is a miracle worker he's a Mountain Mover he's a Waymaker Hallelujah he always has been and he always will be just because it's 2023 it's not got more complex for God he's not a little bit tired now he's not a little older now God is able to fix it for you oh yes he is you might ask yourself why why is it going to change for me this year why is it going to change for me because I believe I'm preaching to a group of people tonight that are just going to reach out and embrace faith this year like you never have before going to reach out and embrace Faith Like falling down on your knees like Faith was a man falling down on your knees wrapping your arms around the feet of faith and said I'm not going to let go I'm going to hang on tonight that's how your Miracle comes that's how things begin to change that's how circumstances begin to work themselves out when you Embrace Faith like you never have before glory to God getting some Holy Fire In Her Eyes some Holy Fire in our eyes and look not through not through circumstantial lenses but have such a fire of the Holy Ghost burning inside of us that when we look at our situation we're looking through holy flames to remind us how awesome that God is tonight the Vickers family we're praying we're asking God to give us some fresh faith in our hearts fresh faith in our hearts so that I can't say that I'm staring at a mountain this year but someone here May the Vickers family may stare at a mountain at some point in 2023 but I'm praying and asking God for the faith that we need to be able to stare down that mountain to be able to look at it with Steely eyes and not blink and stare down that mountain Looking Through The Eyes of the Holy Ghost tonight and while I'm staring down that mountain praying to God that I don't blink that I stand there like the man of God that he wants me to be because he's always amazing and he's never changing and the god that worked it out for Moses the god that worked it out for Esther the god that worked it out for Daniel is my God too he's forever the same and he doesn't change he's always amazing he's always amazing tonight I'm asking God to put a roaring Holy Ghost Fire in me and my family a roaring Holy Ghost Fire I can honestly tell you there have been times in my life especially when I was younger the fire of the Holy Ghost was not much more than Embers where Flames used to be where there used to be a powerful fire then there were times in my life that was like a little campfire a holy ghost campfire or a holy ghost fireplace but listen to me I want God moving on my behalf I want God watching after my family I want God blessing the promised church as we work there with Pastor Lovelace I want to see God do great things but I want you to know tonight that Holy Ghost Embers were not enough I'm asking God for a roaring roaring Holy Ghost fire to burn in my soul then it comes up before my eyes [Music] Glory Glory Glory we have a farm over in Virginia and a few years ago in the spring we cut down a whole bunch of saplings in a field and we just drug them over and stacked them up and have the course of the Season went by and those trees dried out and just began to compact and in the fall when it had rained on a particular day I said to myself I'm going to set that on fire and let that burn and I did I set it on fire and that dry wood just begin to brother vanilla began to Roar it was making a noise and it was so hot I couldn't stand as close to it as I was I had to back up because the heat was so hot I'm talking about that kind of Holy Ghost fire in our lives and in our homes and in our churches right verses verses we also have a fire pit at the farm pretty nice to build a fire in the fire pit and let that little warm thing but but I don't know if I can move a mountain I don't know if God can move a mountain through me with a fire pit fire but I do believe that if there's a roaring fire with that mountain comes I'll be able to look at that mountain and stare it down and tell it to move and because of the Holy Ghost the authority and the power of the Holy Ghost I believe that God will move my mountain very very quickly very quickly turning the pages of our Bible into the New Testament the omnipresent always amazing one in an instant made himself breakable he who had been omnipresent spirit became piercable the one who is larger than the universe itself came a tiny embryo and he who sustains the world with his word chose to be dependent on the nourishment of a young girl while she was expecting him Holiness was sleeping in her womb while the creator of all things was physically being created God didn't come in a flash of brilliant light he didn't come as an unapproachable monarch but he chose rather to come to a stable where his first Christ think about that God's first cries were heard by a fearful young couple God's first tears God's first tears were wiped away by trembling little girl the hands that first held God the hands that first held God were calloused and dirty and trembling but that's the way that God chose to come there was no purple there was no silk there were no Ivory columns there were no trumpets and there was no Pomp and Circumstance if not for the Shepherds there would have been no reception if not for the wise men there would have been no gifts that was God's ingenious plan way back in the beginning when Eve was subdued basically by the serpent he already had that plan in place the omnipresent coming to this world to make listen to me to make himself touchable to make himself reachable to make himself approachable because he wasn't before he was completely divine and he was completely human all at the same time it feels a little bit uncomfortable but those words are together in terms of God you know it almost seems a little bit disrespectful but listen to me it has helped me in my life that if I let Jesus be as human as he was that I let Jesus be just as human as he was because because you have to welcome him into your muck and your mire he came to be touchable he came to be reachable and you need to understand and believe with all your heart that while he was 100 percent Divine he was still 100 percent human welcome him into my mess welcome him into my addiction somebody might have a sour grape circumstance and situation today but we need to welcome him in to that situation into my failure am I preaching to anybody tonight welcome him into my Misfortune let him let the man Jesus Christ come into your story as a matter of fact let him go beyond coming into your story let him write your story let him put your story together but you need to understand tonight that he was human why is that important why is that important because because if we don't grasp the fact that he was human then we can't let him into our mess and if we don't let him into our messes he can't pull us out you have to realize tonight that he has been around muck and Meyer before your situation is not unique your circumstances are not something that he has never seen before he's interacted with sickness he has interacted with death he's interacted with disease confusion and heartache he's done it all before he's been around lies before he's been around abuse before [Music] the man Jesus has been around addiction he's been around five Financial hardships he's been around homelessness and mistreatment and neglect he has done it all before It's Not Unusual for him because he was 100 percent Divine and he was 100 percent human he's reachable he's approachable and he's touchable tonight [Applause] he's been around homelessness before I want to Brad I want to brag on my pastor brother Lovelace we got a one call I believe it was the day before Christmas might have been Christmas Eve Pastor Lovelace told the church he said it's zero you know how cold it got here zero wind chill down below zero and he said he said I've been thinking about it been praying about he said God's moved upon me to take our church but our church vans downtown Kingsport and see if there's anybody down there that needs shelter for the night and brother lovelakes ended up spending his entire Christmas holiday with homeless people at our church feeding them and taking care of them but here's here's something I want to share with you when I say God knows he knows brother Lovelace was driving that van seemingly not able to find anybody it looked like everybody had a place to go until he got to this certain alleyway and if I'm telling the story wrong he can correct it later because I've got fragments of it but he heard or someone with him heard a woman screaming for help down an alleyway and they went down that Alleyway and got her her hands were already beginning to frostbite she got her husband and her she you've heard brother Lovelace tell the story about interacting with volunteer high school and brother Chase was p7 director our club was down at volunteer house she ended up being from volunteer high school she told him where some more people were and they gathered some more people up some of them of course are addicted but listen Jesus has been around that before Jesus is handled that kind of thing before while they were sitting there at our church one of them began to tell their story about addiction and and uh I know Sister Jamie McCool has been on the pillar Diaries and there I think her name is sister Stephanie if that's not correct she's got a video on the pillar diaries that my sister-in-law is doing where she tells about coming out of addiction and what all God has done for her and so they went and got a computer and they played that video to that addicted lady that was sitting there frostbite and after she watched that video tears began to fall down her face and she said that's my story too that's my story too can you baptize me in Jesus name come on somebody Jesus has been around homelessness before he's been around addiction before he is God and he doesn't change he's always the same yesterday today and forever oh yeah Jesus has put his hands on the unfixable before what we thought might have been he's put his hands on the unworkable and the unimaginable before so Let Jesus the man into your story because he understands Let Jesus into your story Let Jesus Write Your Story because he doesn't sound so simple but when you begin to kind of lay a foundation down and think about it that way he understands before brother Lovelace ever got the keys to the van God already heard the scream of a lady we're freezing to death he understands during his 33 years on this planet no matter what the devil threw at Jesus he amazingly walked away the victor Satan opposed Jesus with sick diseased people and Jesus responded with be ye healed he was opposed in the wilderness Jesus spent 40 days in temptation but he responded with it is written Satan opposed Jesus with barbaric demon possession and I want to I want to stop her here just for a moment the land of the gadarenes when Jesus's boat pulled up on the shore and he come in contact with a man the man said my name is Legion because there are many of us a legion is a military term that man that man's body was serving as a demonic military encampment of some word approximation of six thousand demons but Jesus stood there and never flinched and all the people who could not bind him could not tame him this is he was somebody's son he might have been somebody's dad he might have been somebody's husband but he was serving as a demonic military encampment but when Jesus spoke to him those demons immediately left and when those people saw Jesus never flinched and never bite an eye at six thousand demons they began to believe this man can do anything this man can fix anything he can fix your problem he can fix yours your son your grandchild you can't fix it he can fix try my best to wind this down the serpent opposed Jesus with hopelessness and depressed addicted people Jesus responded with be thou whole be thou make clean Satan oppose Jesus with physical abuse mental abuse false accusations tax and downright lies and Jesus responded with Father forgive them they don't know what they do always amazing and never changing I don't know if anybody's keeping score but he's still undefeated he's still undefeated the serpent opposed Jesus with strong weather and storms Jesus responded with B thou steal peace be still he opposed Jesus with death but Jesus responded with the Lazarus come forth God raised the dead Jesus raised the Dead the Widow son the shunamite woman's son the Israelite man the Widow of names son jairus's daughter and Lazarus himself and then he raised himself from the dead said I Am Alive forevermore and I have the keys of death hell and the grave I am the Lord and I change not he's always amazing January the 1st 2023 he's the same yesterday today and forever he's always amazing in your life he's always amazing [Applause] how many of you uh how many of you have a mobile phone can I just see your hand how many of you have a mobile phone probably I'm sure I'm sure 95 percent of the people in this room have a mobile phone and listen all of us all of us are just one phone call away from having our worlds turned upside down one phone call from having our world turned upside down but if my world if my world is suddenly turned upside down I want to remember the fact that he's never anxious he's always come he's never nervous he's as calm and confident as he has ever been when I hit end on my call he's still the same a pastor and I we were just kind of chatting in the office just a few moments ago and I we were talking about our last Tri-State District board meeting and we were he and I were reminiscing about the very first Tri-State District youth retreat and uh and we kind of had a chuckle because we looked around the room and and there were some folks that were older like us can I say that uh even I even disclosed my age in the pastor's office but uh but we've been we've been around for a few years and we've been around for a few decades I looked down here at Bishop McCool and sister McCool decades and decades and decades but you know what when you've been serving God for a while you go through some stuff you just go through some stuff and and you learn that you've got to speak out loud sometimes sometimes you just got to open up your mouth sometimes and get a little Brave in the Holy Ghost and say who are you great Mountain who are you great Mountain because I've got a roaring fire of the Holy Ghost on the inside of me my God is Moses is God my God is Noah's God my God is Esther's God and I'm looking through the lens of holy history and I know God is able I know God is willing I know we can and I'm just going to embrace Faith like I never had before I've learned to open up my mouth and pray long oh there were times there were times when when I was going through something that I just I just maybe sat and thought about it and tried to figure out how I could fix it but brother vanilla when you've been around for a little bit a little bit of time you've gone through a little bit of stuff you realize sometimes you gotta open your mouth and pray open your mouth and pray open your mouth and speak and open my mind to believe open my mind to believe that my circumstances are going to change and my situation is not permanent there's a little girl I'm hurry and hurrying her there's a little girl in her our church her name is Megan she works at Target when her own admission when she came to church she came she brought a little girl with her sister's little girl taking care of her little sister's girl she came to church and she said her testimony I was a mess how was a wreck I was so depressed and I was so so upset about things but she said after I got baptized and after I got the whole and this is the testimony of probably everyone in this building tonight after I got baptized and after I got filled with the Holy Ghost she said instead of being depressed now me and [name redacted] are dancing around the altar singing he's a Waymaker he's a Waymaker he's a Waymaker we've all got those stories who are you uncertainty who are you addiction who are you great Mountain sister Ashley if you and the musicians want to come from before creation until the birth of Jesus the always amazing God was undefeated and after 33 years on this planet Jesus was Undefeated by evil and untainted by sin Heroes come and heroes go Champions rise and champions fall but there is only one Undisputed undefeated never changing champion and his name is Jesus he's been in a lot of fights he's been in a lot of fights but he's never lost one he's never forfeited not showed up to a fight he's never backed down he's answered every single Bell and because he's the same and he doesn't change he brother Hamer he will never quit my friend can I say to you tonight humbly he will never quit on you he will never give up on you and I think most of us tonight might fall into the category of what about my children he will never give up on your children no matter how uncertain their situation may seem no matter how much set in concrete your children's circumstances may be he will never ever ever give up on your children my mom Papaw faithful Mama and Papa you've heard this many many times before this this preacher is just reminding you of a few things tonight I know you've been praying for those grandchildren but brother Vickers just came by tonight to remind you he's never going to give up on your grandchildren he will never ever ever give up on your grandchildren I've just come to remind you tonight encourage you to Keep On Believing keep on praying keep on running 2023 is going to be a great year in the name of Jesus in the name of Jesus brother Perez it's going to be a great year in the name of Jesus we're going to keep believing we're going to keep being generous we're going to keep her running we're going to keep stoking the fire of the Holy Ghost we're going to hang on to faith like we never have before we're going to reach out and take hold of some Faith like we never have before and let's let 2023 brother Jason be the
