matthew chapter 27 in verse number one when the morning was come all the chief priests and elders of the people took counsel against jesus to put him to death when they had bound him they led him away and delivered him to pontius pilate the governor then judas which had betrayed him when he saw that he was condemned repented himself brought again the thirty pieces of silver to the chief priests and elders saying i have sinned and that i have betrayed the innocent blood they said what is that to us see thou to that he cast down the pieces of silver in the temple and departed and went and hanged himself the chief priest took the silver pieces and said it is not lawful for to be put to put them into the treasury because it is the price of blood and they took counsel and bought with them the potter's field to bury strangers therein wherefore that field was called the field of blood unto this day then was fulfilled that which was spoken by jeremiah the prophet saying and they took the 30 pieces of silver the price of him that was valued whom they of the children of israel did value

you may be seated today for just a few moments i want to speak on understanding judas understanding judas i understand judas this morning because judas was blinded by the god of this world in his estimation and opinion of jesus christ judas was blinded by the god of this world to have a different value of this man called jesus we know according to exodus that if an animal would take the life of a slave that you paid 30 pieces of silver or 30 shekels of silver we know that in zechariah it was prophesied years before that jesus would be sold for 30 pieces of silver but what is interesting to note is how they derived how they came to the amount of money there that day when judas stood before the pharisees and began a negotiation of the price of jesus christ the price that we will take for him now what kind of a price do you put upon jesus what kind of a price if you were just thinking of it in natural terms what kind of a price do you put up on one who can heal all manner of disease and sickness think about if jesus was alive and walking the streets of america today there wouldn't be a hospital he couldn't empty out there wouldn't be a situation a a drug addiction place that he couldn't walk in and just totally empty the place out jesus could empty every hospital in america out he had the power to open blinded eyes he had the power to unstop deaf ears he had the power to cause people that had never spoken a word to begin to speak he had the power to give people the ability to walk that it never walked he even had the power to go to the cemetery and you think about the three times that jesus raised people from the dead and i think there's a correlation here there's three times in scripture he raised people from the dead he raised jairus's daughter while she was in the house that was the equivalent of a funeral home he went to the funeral home and raised jairus 12 year old daughter from the dead another place he found the the processional going down the road the widow woman of name and he stopped that funeral procession and he touched the casket there and the boy set up and was alive came back to life we know that he went to the grave of his friend called lazarus who had been dead four days and they said when he said roll the stone away they said there'll be an odor of decay come from that cave now you think about it what price would you put on somebody that could go to the funeral home and raise the dead or stop the hearse on the way to the grave and raise the dead or go to the graveyard and call somebody out of one of those mausoleums and say come back to lot what kind of a price do you put on that man he would put the restaurant business he would put the restaurant industry out of business because he could take a happy meal and feed neeland stadium with a happy meal oh yes he could he would put the boating industry out sea ray he could put out a business because when he needed transportation on water he'd just walk on water and say well that was just jesus no he had the ability with just one word to tell anybody else you don't have to buy a boat either come what price do you put on him what price do you put on someone that the brightest intellectual minds of his day could never entrap him bring me the slickest politician you want to try to entrap me and i'll show you how to expose the lie bring me the the the the religious leaders that bring me a woman caught in the act of adultery and they think boy we have got jesus in a corner he can't get out of the corner now for if he says stone her the roman government will be down his throat if he says let her go don't do anything about it then friend to all the religious people will know that he don't stand with brother moses we got him can't you see those greedy men rubbing their hands together we got him now but all of a sudden jesus the dead man raiser jesus the great physician jesus the miracle worker just turns and looks at them and says these words to you that be without sin cast the first stone go ahead cast the first stone and being convicted in their conscience from the oldest to the youngest they dropped their stones and they walked away i can hear them let me surmise as as they walked away as they begin to say i knew he would do something like that i knew we really didn't have him where we want him because i'm talking about jesus this morning i'm talking about jesus the miracle worker i'm talking about jesus the one who's the alpha the omega the beginning and the ending he's the first and he's the last i'm talking about jesus the bride and the morning star i'm talking about jesus god manifested in the flesh i'm talking about jesus this morning but let me bring you back to our subject matter what price do you put on that i know what some hospitals charge you for just a day in the hospital i know that some of you go to go to the hospital you make sure you take your your aspirin bottle with you and you make sure you take your kleenex and and because if you're in the hospital they ain't giving you nothing for free i know they said that woman had been sick for 12 years and spent all she had on physicians wouldn't take you 12 years nowadays more like 12 hours to do men right but what price do you put on that so judas i gotta understand you a little bit better why in the world did you come up with the price of 30 pieces because it was your estimation of him as a slave you felt restricted by him you felt like he was holding you back from something you felt like you had a better plan than he did you felt like that you could enjoy your life when the woman came and broke that alabaster box in that room that day that was the equivalent of a year's wages you got so upset judas because you saw it as a waste but she saw it as worship

now now let me let me let me help us here today judas was blinded by the god of this world you see the god of this world today is telling people right in this very room and those watching by way of television the god of this world today is telling you jesus is restrictive if you give your life to jesus you're going to miss out on fun the real fun is in the world and all the things that the world has got to offer don't you know today that satan is still trying to get judases among us today to see the church as something restrictive and something that's holding us back from having fun and judas sold him for 30 pieces of silver he sold him for the price of a slave but listen to me today and listen well as i close that verse 1 of that chapter starts out and says and when the morning came you see the problem with sin sin can give you a good night but it can never give you a good morning that's a that's the way sin is sin may thrill you for a moment but it will not thrill you for a lifetime and hear these words today sin will take you further than you want to go sin will take you further than you want to go and keep you longer than you want to stay and cost you more than you want to spend and when you are through with sin i got news for a sin is not through with us sin will dazzle you and then sin will bind you sin will entice you and then sin will imprison you but i have come this morning with a great message to tell you that we can break the hold of the god of this world for jesus is not restrictive he is liberty for where the spirit of the lord is there is liberty oh sinner friend today you have liberty in jesus oh my friend today that's in the prison house of sin you have liberty to come out of that prison house today freedom freedom from things that are robbing our brain freedom from things that are robbing our health would you stand with me freedom from the things of this world freedom to break free freedom we understand today and i want someone here in bondage to understand don't listen to the god of this world don't form your opinion about the bible and about god's people based on the god of this world but i give you an invitation that's given to all taste and see if the lord is not good i close with this today because there may be someone standing here this morning or someone watching by television that may be saying pastor i don't believe that jesus would ever love me look how dirty my life is look how messed up my life is i've tried and i've i failed god he does he doesn't love me

i remember several years ago my wife and i were privileged to build a house we were building it ourselves and the day was coming close to close on the loan the bank was sending out an appraiser to appraise the value of that house the appraiser called me i was inside of the house there were boxes everywhere boxes that the cabinets had come in there was dirt somebody a contractor had tracked mud through the house we hadn't yet took the stickers off of the windows the windows were dirty boxes laying throughout the house the appraiser called he said i want to come out today and name the time and i said oh oh oh please don't oh please don't i'm not ready for you yet he said not ready he said is the yard put in and i said yes sir he said he named a few other things he said is the heating in the air hooked up and i said yeah is the power on i said yes sir the water yes sir he said is all the porches covered and everything he said well he said then why do you not want me to come out today i said well there's cabinet boxes in the garage and there's trim that's not been that's been cut that needs to be carried out he stopped i was standing beside a box he said sir understand when i come out today that the cleanup is no problem as long as the value is there i had me wearing big old carpenter pencils y'all know what big old day and i just reached and tore me a part of that cardboard off and i got me a sermon the cleanup is no problem as long as the value is there can i tell you you were made in the image and the likeness of god you resemble the son of god you look like the son of god oh i know your face is smudged with sin i know that your life is in bondage to all kinds of addiction but the great savior jesus christ says today that the cleanup is no problem
