believe what we believe tonight it's going to be the role water baptism plays in The Plan of Salvation why we believe what we believe the role of water baptism plays in The Plan of Salvation Matthew 3:1 13 then cometh Jesus From Galilee to Jordan unto John to be baptized every everybody say baptized to be baptized of him but John forbade him saying I have need to be baptized of thee say that word baptized again I have need to be baptized of thee and thou comest and comest thou to me Jesus answering said unto him suffer it to be so now for thus it becometh us to fulfill all righteousness then he suffered him and Jesus when he was baptized went up straight way out of the water and lo the heavens were opened unto him and he saw the spirit of God descending like a dove and lighting upon him why we believe what we believe the role that water baptism plays in the plan of Salvation father I love you tonight I thank you Lord for your word I thank you for this plan God I thank you for this marvelous plan Lord I just pray tonight as we study this plan that it will get deep into our hearts God that our understanding would be enlightened but not that it would just stay in our hearts and in our minds but God that we would be able to share this with our family we'd be able to share this on the job Lord that we would help other people Lord to see the value and the role that water baptism plays in The Plan of Salvation Lord I'll give you the praise and the honor and the glory in Jesus name anoint me amen and amen you may be seated the method there are in this world today primar primarily among Christianity there are two methods that is called baptism one is immersion and one is sprinkling one is sprinkling although the word sprinkling or sprinkled appears in the Bible both in the old and in the New Testament the word sprinkling the word sprinkling means to drop or spread small pieces or amounts of something over something spr sprinkling just simply means to drop or spread and in this case it would be water to drop or spread small amounts of water over someone uh over over something or over someone but yet we understand when we read the scripture the word sprinkling is in the scripture and that's what it means but when we read the word baptized when we read the word baptized the word baptized according to theer's uh theer's lexicon of Greek words the word baptize means it is it is pronounced baptis it means to it means to immerse to submerge as a matter of fact when we understand that the word the Greek word baptis or B we would know it as baptism uh predates predates what we would know as Christian baptism when a vessel when a a ship would sink to the bottom of the lake or the ocean the Greeks would use the word bapo they would use the word baptis they would say that vessel is baptis in another words that vessel is completely submerged under the water water now we come to the subject of hand which is baptism and of course I want to talk just a few moments on the method and I'll draw your attention back to our opening passages of scripture Matthew 3133 where it says that Jesus came to John requesting for John to baptize him or to submerge him emerge him under the water look at verse 16 look at verse 16 I think you'll see very quickly that this was not sprinkling and too many times and I'm not really saying this to be humorous but in a way that it is but too many times people watch Hollywood movies about the life of Life of Christ and they will then go out and quote uh you know they'll quote something from that movie and they say you know the Bible says that that when when Jesus was on the cross and a drop of blood hit the ground the Thunder and everything hit well that may have been in a movie but it's not in it's not in the Bible all right well I know I I know when Jesus was baptized John just took his hand and scooped up some water and poured over his head well that's in a movie but how many of you know we're at church tonight and we're not at the movies right that's right that's right you you know that Jesus was verse 16 of chapter 3 and Jesus when he was baptized went up straight way out of the what out of the water he was immersed he was immersed that's why here at the church we have a baptismal pool we we we don't have a cup for sprinkling we don't have a cup for sprinkling we have a baptismal pool why because baptism is to completely submerge one under under the water let's continue on would you go with me to John chapter 3 John chapter number three and verse number verse number 22 I believe is where I would like to go tonight John chapter 3 and verse number 22 and after these things Jesus and his disciples he came and his disciples into the land of Judea and there he carried with them there he carried with them him and and what did he do and baptized and baptized and John also was baptizing in Eon near shalum because look at these next few words because there was what why were they there because there was what much water there this I believe that we can connected is telling you if sprinkling was their method of baptism they wouldn't have needed to went to a place where there was much water there was much water there and they came read the rest of it they came and were they were baptized now again they're there because there is much water there let's look go over in the book of Acts chapter number 8 and verse 5 Phillip has been led by the spirit of God to witness or to join a man who is Ethiopian and uh he is a he is he is really an important man he's he in the Bible he's referred to as the Ethiopian unic who was over the treasury he was a government official he was hungry for God he was sitting in his Chariot he was reading the the book of Isaiah the Holy Ghost LED Phillip to go join himself to this Ethiopian unit and uh at verse number 35 of chapter 8 the Bible says then Philip opened his mouth and began at the same scripture and preached unto him Jesus now I want to make a little side note here to help us witness because really uh it's twofold tonight what Pastor is doing number one I want all of us in this house tonight to know why we believe what we believe I want every teenager here in the house of God tonight to know why you believe what you believe but the second thing my motive is tonight I want us to be able to share this I want us to share this with a world that needs the Bible method of baptism now I want to make a side note here Philip opened his mouth after the unic read the scripture Philip opened his mouth and began at the same scripture and what did he do he preached unto him Jesus now want you to make a note here tonight because there are some places that will tell you oh we don't preach Doctrine we just preach Jesus all right now I know what they're saying I I understand what they're saying but I believe the Bible will tell us tonight that when we preach Jesus you do more than just say his name you do do more than just say that he died for your sins for if you'll follow verse 36 Philip opened his mouth and begin to preach unto the unit Jesus verse 36 and as they went on their way they came unto a certain water and the unic said now look it's very important you you need to see it who brings this subject up we end with Philip preaching Jesus but look who brings this subject up and the unic said see here is water what doth hinder me to be what doth hinder me to be baptized now let's just put this together tonight if Phillip preached unto him Jesus and the unic opens his mouth a little while later and says wait a minute over there is some water what would hinder me from being baptized the law of Common Sense tells us all tonight that philli preaching Jesus unto him preached the wonderful message of water baptism see here's water what do hinder me to be baptized Philip said if thou believest with all thine heart thou mayest and he answered and said I believe that Jesus Christ is the Son of God he commanded the Chariot to stand still notice this now back to the method of submer immersion or sprinkling and they went both they went down both into the water and they went down both into the water both Phillip and the unic and he baptized them now that tells you I don't know what kind of container they would have been sprinkling out of but if it's sprinkling that had to be a container big enough to put two grown men inside but we know that it was not a container was some body of water a pond a lake Etc they went down both into the water both philli and the unit and he baptized him he immersed him in the water verse 39 and when they were Watch the watch the word here when they were come up out of the water so here we have we have the baptism plainly given to us as immersion tonight PL plainly giving to given to us that the person being baptized is immersed or submerged completely under completely under the water now this is an interesting thing I'd like to bring you tonight that not only did John the Baptist baptize but the Lord also commissioned his disciples to baptize look in John chapter 4 in verse number one now I know that when we think about John the Baptist uh baptizing that we in our minds kind of just get John doing all the baptizing but baptism under the law at this time was so important that it was going to take more than just one man John doing the baptizing look at John 4 and verse one when therefore the Lord knew how the Pharisees had heard that Jesus made and baptized more disciples than John though Jesus himself baptized not not but his disciples now so important John comes preaching the baptism of of of the remission of sins or the baptism of repentance under the law that God honored it for uh the remission of sins God honored John's baptism it was under and I keep needing to drive home John's baptism was under the law it was under the the law now this is how important John's baptism was let's go back to our opening chapter or opening text of Matthew 3:15 Matthew 3:15 you remember the conversation between John and Jesus John says to Jesus I and you know I have need to be baptized of you and you want me to baptize you Jesus Jesus answering verse 15 and Jesus answering said un to him unto John suffer that word suffer there means to allow it to be so now for thus it becometh us to fulfill all righteousness then he separate him so there was this conversation when Jesus came to John and Jesus said John baptize me and John's taken away and John says I I I need you to baptize me and Jesus says to John allow it John suffer it that we will for fulfill all righteousness now I have several different versions of the Bible that this verse is given in one version says let it be so now Jesus replied it is fitting for us to fulfill all righteousness in this way then John permitted him another version the Erv version Jesus answered let it be this way for now we should do whatever God says is right then John agreed the isv version but Jesus answered him let it be this way for now because this is the proper way for us to fulfill all righteousness at this he permitted him to be baptized another version but answering Jesus said allow it now for it is becoming to us this way to fill to fulfill all righteousness another version and Jesus answering said allow it now for it is becoming to us to fulfill the righteousness another version the last one I'll give you Jesus replied it is only right to do all that God requires then John baptized him now I want you to understand this baptism of John was not the baptism John came up with it was not religion it was not man-made when John began to baptize John was directed by the spirit of God to be a voice in the wilderness and preach this baptism it was a God thing it was not a man-made thing and so here is all these versions of the Bible that are telling you that Jesus said this is what God has required let's see if we can find how important this is in Luke Chapter 20 and verse number one Luke chap 20 and verse number one one and it came to pass that on one of those days as he taught the people in the temple and preached the gospel the chief priest and the scribes came unto him with the elders and spake unto him saying tell us by what Authority doest thou these things or who is he that gave thee this authority Jesus is preaching and uh the scri tries and the chief priests and the elders uh the ones that basically what I'm saying tonight is the leaders of religion the leaders of religion of that day came to Jesus and they said we want to know by what Authority you're teaching we want to know who gave you this Authority we we want to know where who who who gave this to you verse three Jesus answered and said to them I will I will also ask of you one thing and answer me in other words he's basically saying brother Roberts if if uh you answer me I'll answer you that's that's basically uh students what he was saying he was basically saying if you'll answer me I'll I'll answer you and here it is verse four the baptism of John was it from heaven or of men he says to them fellows the baptism of John was it something God gave was it something that came from God or was it religion was it men that came up with this I can see them scooting back and getting into a little huddle to talk they reasoned with themselves verse five saying if we shall say from Heaven he will say why then believe ye him not in other words if we say baptism of John is from Heaven he's going to basically say why haven't she been baptized now verse six but and if we say of men all the people will Stone us for they are for they be persuaded that John was a prophet now look at look at the Dilemma there religion always gets you in a in a dilemma you know why you try to to be a people pleaser and this is why religion keeps changing is because people have got their eyes off of pleasing God and they want to please people can I tell you you can't please the people all the time you won't please all the people all the time and when you try to please all the people all the time you'll be of all men most miserable but what we got to get our mind on is being pleasing to God God they said um we're in a dilemma fellas we're we are in a dilemma if we say the baptism of John was from Heaven he's going to say why have you not been baptized if we say the baptism of John is of man it's a man's concoction then the people are going to be upset with us because they believe that John is a prophet verse seven they gave Jesus the answer and they answered that they could not tell could not tell whence it was now can I tell you they're deceitful right here although the Bible records it this way they're deceitful it it sh it should it should read they answered we will not tell from when not they could not they could tell but they wasn't willing to choose a side from heaven or of man and they would not tell whence it was look at verse N8 excuse me and Jesus said unto them neither tell I you by what Authority I do these things in other words you didn't answer me and I'm not going to answer you I'm not going to tell you the authority by which I do these things so now Jesus gives us lays us the groundwork that the baptism of John was from Heaven although it was under the law it was from Heaven let's go on John let's go to Luke 7 and verse number 28 this really Nails it down here Luke 7 verse number 28 listen to Jesus he's giving a kind of a eulogy of John the Baptist kind of giving a eulogy of him and he says in verse 28 Jesus does for I say unto you among those that are born of woman there is not a great Prophet than John the Baptist but he that is least in the kingdom of God is greater than he he's given a eulogy and he said I'm going to tell you there's not been a greater Prophet born of women than John the Baptist verse 29 and all the people that heard him and the publicans Justified God being baptized with the baptism of John in other words the people worshiped God and felt Justified with God that they had done the right thing in the sight of God because they had been baptized by John verse 30 but the Pharisees and lawyers I want you to see this but the Pharisees and lawyers rejected the Council of God against themselves being not baptized of him do they understand that when they looked at John and probably ridiculed him as a matter of fact even in the word rejected has the tone of ridiculed well John this wild man from the wildness John this man that comes uh preaching this this baptism they they they they ridiculed him and they they would not be baptized of John but when they said no to John John they were saying more they were saying no to more than just John they were saying no to the god that sent John they were rejecting the counsel of God against themselves not being baptized of him could could we may be surmised tonight or use our thoughts for a little while and wonder wonder why they didn't get baptized wonder why they they didn't get baptized I've written down a few things maybe after church you could come and share what was on your mind when I said this what what was it what was it that caused them to reject John's baptism could it be they thought I'm saved I don't need to do anything else I'm saved and I I don't need to do anything else or is it because to be baptized would require humbling oneself and going through and being placed underwater was it because of the pr was it because of Pride that they looked at it and said it's nonsense could it could it be Pride that they looked at it and and and and they rejected they didn't look at it was God's command to be baptized they just looked at and said what going underwater how silly that is how silly it is to go underwater to do to do all that you see when when we try to interpret God's word through our humanistic prideful way of thinking we can dismiss everything to silliness we can just dismiss everything we can dismiss it to emotions oh oh then people just gather in that building get all the emotions whipped up there ain't no God in that place you you can justify anything you want to justify what was it or could it be and I'm just written down I'm just written down a few things it would require them to acknowledge sin they would have to acknowledge that they were Sinners and they were so wrapped up in that but they rejected the counsel of God now again I want to keep driving home that John was under the Old Testament was under the Old Testament you remember in John 136 John's Ministry was to introduce Jesus John 136 and looking Upon Jesus as he walked he saith Behold the Lamb of God John introduced Jesus to the world he understood when he introduced him because he said these words in John chapter 3 and verse 30 John knew his ministry and in John 3 in verse number 30 he said about Jesus he must increase but I must decrease in other words my day is coming to an end I have introduced him and now he must increase and I must decrease why because John the law the dispensation of the law is coming to an end the dispensation the time that God God used the law as a means to reach man is coming to an end Romans chapter 10 and verse number four look at this verse for Christ is the end of the law for righteousness to everyone that believeth Christ is the end of the law John saw it coming but Christ is the end of the law galatian chap 3 verse 1 through3 now this church in galatia this church that had been filled with the spirit baptized in jesus' name somehow were Bewitched by false teachers to go back under the law that had been fulfilled in Christ Paul addresses them in Galatians 3 and 1 oh foolish Galatians who hath Bewitched you who's Put a Spell on You that that you should not obey the truth before whose eyes Jesus Christ have been evidently set forth and crucified among you this only would I learn of you received ye the Spirit by The Works of the law or by the hearing of Faith are you so foolish having begun in the spirit are you now made perfect by the flesh John says you you you foolish Galatians who who Put a Spell on You Who Come Around and got you away from the truth in other words he said did you receive the Holy Ghost by fulfilling the law all washing the cups and bringing the Lambs and the goats and all the meal off did you get the Holy Ghost when you were obeying the law and the answer to that is no how did you get the Holy Ghost by hearing the Word of Faith by hearing the word of God that was preached he said you're foolish having begun in the spirit do you think you'll be made perfect by the flesh look at Galatians 3 and 5 just go to one verse above that Galatians 3 and 5 he therefore that ministereth to you the spirit and worketh miracles among you doeth he it by The Works of the law or by the hearing of Faith now again I brought these scriptures up because I want to show you very plainly that John's baptism was under the law although it is in Matthew Mark Luke and John that's in what we call our Old Testament what new testament the New Testament didn't start until the second chapter of the book of Acts that's when the New Testament started Christ hung on the cross died for our sins fulfilled all the law and 50 days later on the day of Pentecost a brand new dispensation of time that God gave gave to man and that is the grace the strength dispensation when I say grace dispensation I'm glad tonight to tell everybody that the gospel of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ is greater than greater than than what put anything you want to put on on the other side of Van he's greater than that it's the strength of God it is the strength of God that's why we're preaching tonight our hope is in Jesus you ought to devote your life to him you ought to pray to him on a daily basis you ought to read his word and you need to get to know him because he's nothing but a good God he's the strength of all strengths he's he's the one that'll never leave you nor ever forsake you and I'm glad that I'm not living under the law I'm glad I'm living in the grace dispensation I give him praise tonight John was under the Old Testament the law were under the grace dispensation but let me show you something even those that were baptized by John were re-baptized in the New Testament now John Jesus said there's not a greater man born of women than John now think about that think about that statement to be able to brag to be able to brag John baptized me John John I was baptized you know people are people right and no about there were those there were those walking around strutting saying John baptized me but when the gospel came a new dispensation came and now a new purpose of baptism came a new purpose for baptism John's baptism was a cleansing baptism ISM of repentance in other words the people had repented and they were they they were being baptized to show that they had repented it was under the law the Washings under the law the Washings under the law were for cleansing purposes but now the New Testament baptism is far greater than a cleansing it is a burial baptism now before I get to that point before I get to that point let's go to Acts chapter 19 verse number one cuz we're going to find some of John the Baptist disciples acts chap 19 verse number one and everybody said amen and it came to pass that while apalus that's a preacher was at Corinth that's a city Paul having passed through the upper Coast came to Ephesus another city finding certain disciples he said unto them have ye received the Holy Ghost since you believe now I I I've often pondered I've often I I sister Suzanne I've often pondered why Paul made that statement I wonder if Paul got among them for a little while and just noticed there was some power missing in their life I wonder if he got among them for a while and saw there was some things in their life that just didn't seem quite right and then he asked the question he said hey fellas have you all received the Holy Ghost since you believed and they said unto him we have not so much as heard whether there be any Holy Ghost we've not heard anything about the Holy Ghost he said unto them unto what then were you about you've not heard about the Holy Ghost you've not heard about the gift of the Holy Ghost well then how were you baptized and they said unto John's baptism then said Paul John verily baptized with the baptism of repentance saying unto the people that they should believe on him which should come after him that is on Christ Jesus when they heard this they were baptized or I could say they were re-baptized they were re-baptized in the name of the Lord Jesus they in the name of the Lord Jesus Paul laid his hands upon them the Holy Ghost came on them and they spake with tongues and prophesied and all the men were about 12 now let me let me say something to you tonight now brother Carpenter do would you I've already been baptized you think I need to be re-baptized well you need to find out how they baptized you and why they baptized you if you were baptized using the formula that surfaced around the second third and fourth Century that was changed in the Bible they were only baptized in the name of Jesus Christ and for the purpose not to join the church not to show an outward sign of an inward Faith they were baptized as a burial for the remission of their sins if you were not baptized that way I can emphatically tell you yes you need to get re-baptized in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of your sins if John the Baptist disciples were rebap tized so so should you New Testament water bap ISM let's go to the Book of Romans Romans chap 6 and verse number one again everybody say praise the Lord Romans chapter 6 and verse number one Paul says to the church at Rome what shall I say then shall we continue in sin that Grace May abound in other words he finds these Romans that are living in sin although they have been baptized they are living in sin and he says to them should you continue in sin because Grace abounds look at the answer of this God forbid do you realize that God forbids us to live in Grace and sin at the same time what does that mean brother Carpenter God doesn't allow it God doesn't allow God doesn't allow it doesn't care how doesn't matter how often you're coming to church it doesn't matter a lot of things you cannot live in Grace and sin at the same time and I want to tell you tonight if you're living in sin get out of sin and get into Grace get out of sin stop being the servant of sin and get into Grace and start being the servant of Jesus Christ it is a much much much better way of living get out of sin don't justify your sin don't look around and say the people are doing it just get out of sin how do I call call out to him Jesus help me Jesus help me I I I'm not going to live in sin and live in the grace God forbid how shall we look at this verse two how shall we that are dead to sin dead to sin live any longer therein know you not that so many of us as were baptized into Jesus Christ were baptized in into his death therefore we are buried with him by baptism into death that like as Christ was raised up from the dead by the glory of the father even so we also should walk in newness of life for if we have been planted together in the likeness of his death we shall also be in the likeness of his resurrection knowing this that our old man is crucified with him that the body of sin might be destroyed that henceforth we should not serve sin can I tell you that when you repent you repent you you need to understand repent is not sorry you got caught it is sorry you're living the way you're living it's not sorry that I got caught it's sorry that I'm living the way that I'm living how sorry you to be sorry enough to keep it on the altar until you start crucifying your flesh you've got to crucify your flesh God is not going to tie you up God is not going to make you serve him you've got to have the want to you've got to have the desire you can get out of sin by God's help you can get out of sin but he's not going to tie you up and carry you out of sin you've got to have the want to to come out of sin you have got to stay on the altar God I don't want to live this way God I don't want to keep going around this same Mountain over and over again I want to die out and so when we are baptized when we are immersed in water when we are baptized we are baptized with him because you know what he died too he died in the Garden that night that he prayed and revealed his Humanity in a strong way father if it's possible let this cut pass from me me but nevertheless not is I will but thy will be done not once not twice but three times he prayed that prayer and he died out to it and said nevertheless God thy will he died in the Garden that night to his will and you and I in prayer need to die out to our will if there's a sin that keeps pulling you down stay in prayer stay in prayer stay in prayer God it's not your will for me to be living this God give me the strength stay in prayer and stay away from Temptation stay away from trigger people and St stay away from trigger things in your life if you want to come out get it as far away from you get it as far you don't need anybody it's not going to help you get out of sin they're not your real friend oh I got a friend they'll never tell what I'm doing that's not a friend that's an enemy in Disguise you need to have a friend in your life that'll look at you and say you don't need to be saying that you don't need to be doing that you don't need to be going you need some friends that'll call you up Wednesday night after church and say hey man where were you at tonight well I just tired one hey you you you you going to backslide to stand at home you need to get up and get back to the house of God that's the kind of friends you need can you say Amen Church we're buried with him we're buried with him in baptism we repent this is the putting to death of self this is the putting to death of the of the desires of our flesh this is staying on the Altar and I'm going to end this Bible lesson tonight by just quickly going over just just quickly going over why we baptize in the name of Jesus Christ acts 238 then Peter said unto them repent and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins and you shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost in the book of Acts in the book of Acts and brother long I think I see you back there Brother Kyle long will you find in the book of acts and when you find it would you stand would you find in the book of Acts where when the Holy Ghost hit the Bible said Peter standing up with the 11 would you find that and tell me where that's at Acts chapter 2 and verse number 11 when the Holy Ghost hit and they started speaking in other tongues the Bible said Peter standing up with the 11 you got it brother brother brother uh long can you lift up your voice real loud and read that uh read it real loud 14 acts 2:4 Peter standing up with the 11 lifted up his voice and said unto them ye men of Judea go ahead brother long all right that's a whole another thank you brother long H standing up with the 11 stand up with the 11 what your point brother Carpenter you know who the 11 were there was a man among them by the name of Matthew and Matthew wrote Matthew 28 19 now don't you know that if Peter had it wrong Matthew could have spoke up said wait whoa whoa whoa whoa whoa whoa Peter you you you've got that wrong Peter you got that wrong we're supposed to baptize in the name of the father and the son and of the Holy Ghost you got that wrong no Matthew never said nothing because Matthew knew he had it right Matthew knew the name of the father and the name of the son and the name of the Holy Ghost and he knew that that name was Jesus come on give him praise right now Acts chapter 8 Acts chapter 8 verse number 12 but when they believe Philip preaching the things concerning the kingdom of God in the name of Jesus Christ they were baptized both men and women Acts chapter 8 verse 16 tells you how they were baptized for as yet he was fallen on none of them only that were baptized in the name of the Lord Jesus acts 10:44 while Peter yet spake these words the Holy Ghost fell on all them which heard the word they of the circumcision which believed were astonished as many as came with Peter because that on the Gentiles also was poured out the gift of the Holy Ghost for they heard them speak speak with tongues and magnify God then answered Peter can any man forbid water that these should not be baptized which have received the Holy Ghost as well as we and he commanded them to be baptized in the name of the Lord then prayed they him to Terry certain days Acts chapter N9 Acts chapter 9 verse number 17 this is Paul's conversion this is Paul's conversion and ananas went his way and entered into the house and putting his hands on him said brother Saul the Lord even Jesus that appeared unto thee in the way as thou camest has sent me that thou mightest receive thy sight and be filled with the Holy Ghost and immediately there fell from his eyes at it as it had been scales and he received sight forth with and arose and was baptized there are those that want to take these verses and say brother the carpenter he was baptized but he he doesn't do say that he was baptized in Jesus name well just use some good old common sense all right it doesn't have to say it no more than I have to say when I see you in your car coming across the parking lot and I say to somebody I I say brother Patterson look there comes brother Sullivan in a car that's got doors on it I don't have to say it's got doors on it just to say it's a car we know it's got doors on unless you're some of these Jeep people around here we know that it's got doors on it they didn't have to go ahead and add baptism in jesus' name because it was already well established if you were baptized you were baptized in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ but just two more passages of scripture just two more passages of scripture all right Paul is dealing with church trouble Paul is dealing with the Corinthian Church they're in a bunch of trouble they've been split up into different factions they they've been split up over preachers they're split up they're calling themselves paulit and Peter ites and and and they're they're they're they're they're saying all these different things Paul in 1 Corinthians 1:2 he says this to them now this I say that every one of you saith I am of Paul I am of Apollos and I of sephus and I of Christ listen to what Paul says is Christ divided the answer to that is no was Paul crucified do you somebody answer that for me or were you baptized in the name of Paul what's the answer to that no Paul is showing here that they were baptized in a certain name and we know what that name is right that name is Jesus listen to Paul here I thank God that I baptize none of you but carpus and gas lest any should say that I had baptized in my own name and I baptized also the house of the stephanus besides I know not whether I baptize any other for Christ sent me not to baptize but to preach the gospel with the word not with WIS wisdom of words lest the Cross of Christ should be made of none effect now I'm going to show you this Please be aware of side notes in a Bible please be well I'm reading my Bible right here these notes right here there is a Bible a well a well accepted Bible a well accepted Bible all right and this well- accepted Bible that well accepted Bible has a footnote besides where verse 17 where it says for Christ sent me not to baptize but to preach the gospel and here's the side note it goes like this right here it goes like this right here sister Wells F proof that Paul neither preached nor practiced water baptism F proof did you read the verse before that he said he baptized this one and that well what does he mean when he said for Christ sent me not to baptize he is saying Christ didn't send me out to make disciples for myself I'm not in a popularity contest I'm not trying to get people baptized by me he didn't send me to get a club or religion he sent me to preach the gospel and when you preach the gospel you're going to preach water baptism in the name of Jesus Christ oh stand with me right now stand with me right now praise God oh friend Acts chapter 19 1-7 we've already read it once but it proves to you that although it doesn't specifically say when Paul was baptized by ananas that he was baptized that he was baptized now it says it later in Acts 22:16 that he says why do you T the preacher said to Saul why are you tering what are you waiting on evidently ananas got a little upset with him what are you waiting on why are you tearing why are you waiting
