whatever shape or form it has if it's on the phone yeah and i want you to hug it just hug it that's right just tug it y'all be thankful for your word huh and the old timers i don't know about y'all's old-timers but my grandpa used to just thumb through his and just caress the page of it coolest thing i knew a guy that used to lead songs and before he when he'd pick his songs to lead he'd get a song book out and you know most of the young folk don't even know song anyway and he'd thumb through and he'd pray over every one of them and the lord would say sing that one he'd say yes lord and that's again that's one of the things of the older generation of the written word instead of the digital word but you ought to be thankful for your word tonight amen uh we are going to continue don't freak while you're getting your bibles out and stuff we're going to continue in our wednesday night study don't forget our theme 2021 is foundations and every month we will take a different uh topic of that there are some building blocks that i feel like are very vital for any any christian any apostolic that believes the word next month month of february brother john raise your hand month of february brother duran is going to help me uh our our building block for february is giving brother duran is going to do financial peace in one room and then there'll be another giving class going on in another room if you're interested in financial peace that's the dave ramsey material brother drawn will have information sign up stuff because there's material involved with it the cost is forty thousand dollars but it's worth every dime that's how you get into debt by the end of the debt the class you'll be out of debt so nobody's going to try it are you anyway but if you have questions you can ask them this weekend will there be sign up because it'll take a week or so to get materials in for that but that's the financial i'd be going on in february block another building block that we're putting together just wanted to mention that also end of the month fifth sunday brother herb we good we're on target soup i heard somebody mention gumbo but i won't point to who uh i'm opening uh pork and beans does that suffice be nice to me no okay anyway it's the fifth sunday we'll be in here we're gonna set tables out we're gonna eat and fellowship for the nate whitley from first apostolic in knoxville will be our guest speaker that day i'm excited about that uh you'll you'll thoroughly enjoy brother whitley's ministry so that's the 31st keep that in mind stay abreast of what's going on on the app calendar so forth the events uh sister sarah works very hard to make sure that those are up to date and every day there that the information the date and so forth is there and correct all right if somebody's not here tonight pray for them this week while you're doing your prayer time anybody doing the blogs i'm trying i'm trying to get them loaded and sometimes i have difficulty because there's a but i forgot to push but anyway it's it's coming together um the uh this is such a cool topic that we last week i really enjoyed it and tonight we are going to continue we will we're going to begin with second timothy this is where we started last week second timothy chapter number three verse number 16. this is very very important okay because again i mentioned this last week if if anybody paid attention last week in the study about this might seem almost boring to some because it's a lot of dates and facts and figures but i promise you if you will understand why it will help you understand so many more things about any topic right any topic when it comes to the word of god because the bible is ever breathing is it not it's active it doesn't mean it it swells and it's just your understanding and the word changes all right and adapts to where you are so the more we understand about it the more we realize how vital it is for us i i i shudder to think that prophecies will come true that have been spoken meaning there will come a day when maybe the word of god won't be available but that that's a very valid possibility and unless you have a bible on your i mean there there have been i'm not going to talk about it but it's in our history there have been generations that have come they burned every bible they could find the government did stay with me you know i'm saying see make sure you understand the word of god and the importance of it second timothy 3 verse number 16 all scripture is given by inspiration of god and is profitable for doctrine for reproof for correction for instruction in righteousness that verse 17 that the man of god may be perfect or matured throughly furnished unto all good works so scripture that we have has in been god breathed if you will god inspired god spoken men wrote the words men put the words down under whatever medium they had parchment paper copper bark paper whatever okay um last week in our study we began at 433 bc okay that was the completion of the old testament writings whatever book paragraph uh a small piece you know i've mentioned you can go online and see stuff like this but i have the dead sea scrolls bible at home and inside of that they of course put it into a book form but you'll see all the little pieces and remnants of of dead sea scrolls they found and they took and and the writing was so very very small but they were able to go through and translate it uh in fact we were at a museum on the west coast several years ago and they had much of it laid out where you could actually pass by and look at it very cool i say that because 433 bc was the completion of old testament writings whatever that form would have been they would have been pulled together the writings at that points point of course was not chapter verse book and so forth they were simply an author pinned now if it were important points for an example anybody here use the king james version yeah in your king james version printed version you'll see that there's a lot of italicized words you know what those are they were added for what for emphasis for clarification you'll also notice in the new testament if you've got a kjv the the words that jesus spoke are colored in okay so again that's how that the translators used what was given to them in form and then as they begin to break it down and put it into a structure so that people could look through it and organize it categorize it and so forth we all know that our king james bible is not in chronological order right in fact you can read the first kings you catch it in second chronicles you can look in samuel and see a portion of it here you can be in psalms and find a portion of it there okay now we ended last week at 6 13 a.d uh when the islamic faith was introduced into the world that was of course uh a religion that took portions of some of these writings the vulgate we're going to talk about that in a moment as well took some of those writings and mohammed began to read what he had access to and he began to translate that into a way that his followers would follow after him he believed just to give the brief that gabriel the same one that visited mary same one that visited joseph came to him and said you're going to be the guy that carries the new message to the new people now the thing about the islamic faith and again i'm not this is just stay with me or in the bible you got to understand that when the scriptures were written at whatever point they were there was a purpose behind it for an example the letter written to the philippians was for who the philippians body of believers there okay so we connect that right when we get into the islamic faith for an example when they took portions of the old testament they took portions of uh the the beliefs of one god they even of course we know they called him allah uh and their reference to that is he is the one that is the bright and shining interesting note here the islamic belief what muhammad wrote they don't believe in the trinity they believe in one god his name was allah what they do take literally are several of the teachings from old testament you know i used to when i was young in ministry and i was trying to figure out things i'd go to the psalms a lot anybody ever read psalms for strength there's some psalms you better be careful how you read lord gnashed them asunder and caused death to suppress you know and i'm like oh lord somebody's mad right there's a lot of those things in there so the reason for those things of course is because the way that the psalmist those that were writing songs because song is emotion they would pen those words well what islam did was took words of that and then they began to embellish them and they began to put them together so that it was very harsh the rule was this way or no way even today 2021. now the reason i'm mentioning that is because please please understand i'm not political i'm not doing anything i'm simply trying to teach this so we understand we we all push us away from doctrines and teachings like that but the truth is is they had the same base that we have it's just the translation and the influence was negative instead of positive all right stay with me the reason that i mention it is because the christian faith what what we believe is to be christ-like we believe jesus came and so forth we understand that these influences came in to what we have in the word of god and because of that if you don't understand why they're in there does anybody understand customs and cultures of old testament time i'll give you a new testament how did the lady at the well know jesus was a jew what was it dress the way he carried himself the way you know why he was there middle of the day so forth in other words what he had who he was spoke okay he didn't have to open his mouth she recognized something of him and then she was able to deduce okay why do you even speak to us we believe that our god is in the mountain and jesus began to talk to her when you go through the scriptures guys there's a reason those things are placed there in the order in which they're placed and the understanding is if you'll know why was peter on the house top praying when the angel came and said somebody over here has been praying i spoke to them go down and how many has ever prayed on top of your house so to us 2020 it can almost be well that's silly and we would take for granted that what they actually mean well okay the guy that the four guys tore the roof off and lowered the guy down in a bed in the middle of jesus does why would they do that see we read these stories these points in our bible we hold but if we don't understand how unwise then we can be confused at the purpose of the word that's why i chose in this study for januaries to go into the word when we come to 6 13 when we come into the 600s you've got all these books that have been written all these i say books they're verses paragraphs sentences entire pages upon pages okay or whatever it was you got all this information and it's being assimilated but then you've got different religions that are coming pulling portions of it they're writing their beliefs and doctrines then you've got somebody pulling something else listen to this one 709 in 709 a.d the catholic church began to emphasize that you need to kiss the pope's feet where did that come from because the the guy the pope at the time thought it's sufficient that if you really truly humbled yourself you would kiss the feet of the pope you can go right now into catholic churches we've been in a hundreds around the world in our travels because i always wanted to go into those churches because they're incredible the history is just out of this world and you can see the statue of peter going into most of them and his foot's almost gone why from kissing the foot and that dude's brass it's not chocolate you know it's chocolate no yeah you know this is this is brightness or this is metal or stone but it's almost gone where people have come and emotionalized themselves with that 709. the purpose of it was to identify that the pope was indeed the representative of christ on earth 800 a.d established the doctrine of sprinkling with water you could actually use that for baptism 10 54 a.d listen to this 10 54 a.d there was a great division occurred in the religions of that day eastern or greek western latin these are two different groups of people they had difficulty in agreeing with the power of the pope and the power of constantinople who was rule at that time this division was never reconciled and because of that what happened was both of the eastern and the western the greek and the latin begin to establish their own rules laws scriptures teachings and education now the reason that's important is because we still don't have our bible we're still back in 10 1000 if you will and so now you've got two very prominent groups of catholics greek and latin and now they divide they never did remedy that and they take off in these tangents now you've got this set of rules and writings and translations and interpretations and you have this one which one's in your bible do you know you mean we're all sitting there going the truth is you know what a concordance is footnotes anybody ever see those that's the little stuff down there at the bottom or the stuff at the back right look at some of those sometimes when you're doing some history study and it'll tell you from the greek from the hebrew from the latin and he might even tell you what generation or what year that and what book it was pulled from okay the truth listen this this has such an impact this division and the church of that time had such an impact that now you've got entire groups of people following this where the pope doesn't have the power constantinople's got it which means that when constantinople dies who takes his place stay with me see what i'm saying 1079 a.d the priesthood now in the latin sex in the latin group said you know what celibacy is the way the priest cannot be married up to that point priests were married but at that point he said that's too much of a distraction and so they established that follow me 1095 to 1492 anybody know what happened in those years guys i know you you know i'd be real surprised if you threw your hand up has anybody ever heard of the crusades the crusades anybody you've probably seen movies on it hollywood tried to paint a picture for you this was such an incredibly horrific time in our world the crusades it was a time of war between the latin catholic church and the muslims who had taken control of much of the then known world and during the crusades if they found you to be contrary to the catholic church guess what they did to you they what tortured and killed you he wouldn't be alive in that time i i i go to church good come here stretcher you know you've seen that or at this time again i'm doing the god's work the bible how did we get what we've got because there's so many directions and angles now during the crusades understand they were not battles fought for the sake of christianity rather there were horrible acts of the muslim armies attempting to remove infidels and then the catholic church was blamed because then they began to try to clean the church and anybody that didn't submit to the catholic teaching now you've got all of this death and all of this horrible stuff going on in 1100 a.d the doctrine of the place called purgatory was introduced what's purgatory anybody a what waiting for what for what reason why or it was you and you didn't ever take care of them but because you didn't take care when you died early your family could say of you these good people but boy that's rough so they're gonna have to go through purgatory in purgatory again this is biblical we got a bible today but there was an opportunity that if you were just a rank bad person and your family though thought you was all that in a box of cracker jacks they could say to you or to anybody around yeah they're in purgatory right now and everybody because of the belief they'd say hmm say a prayer for him because the family then after the fact could pray them out of purgatory into their reward of heaven sound like a good deal huh well i'm just going to tell all y'all if there's such a thing i ain't praying you out of i'm just trying to get out of this one to that one young young young purgatory if you believed in god did the sacrament according to the church for an example died in sins unclean you could actually be purified if you went through this process and your family could pay the penalty for you 1184 to 1600 a.d were the inquisitions these these are different than crusades inquisitions they were they were inquiries inquisitions the word means inquire they were inquiries in from france other european areas they investigated into the wrongdoing specifically against the then known church and at that point if they decided that you weren't living up to or you there was no way you could pay your for what you had done they would kill you during the inquisitions several hundred years of this horrible times horrible times again through all of this we discovered last week in 70 a.d what happened at jerusalem it was destroyed wasn't it so the writings any books any kind of materials that would have been there possibly some of those could have been destroyed or hurt hopefully not but we don't know and then from that point you've got people now with different words against dead sea scrolls they found it in 12 or 13 different caves you had this group of people that group of people they wrote these words down so they there was a remnant of the word that was still coming together and going apart and coming together and going apart but during the inquisition people were actually tortured and executed on purpose so much like the crusades the inquisitions was in an attempt to try to clean up all this bad stuff and there ain't no better way to clean up things than to kill people is there all in the name of christianity hang on to me hang on to me 12 29 a.d the then pope declared that the bible the any any written word any any written scriptures was forbidden for any laity to read or have a handle on nobody if you were not in the priesthood you were not allowed to see any scripture anything any shape form or fashion or you'd be killed you with me so how do we get our bible again we're going through all these torturous times terrible times can't even touch the word kissing the pope's feet it's okay on and on you got all these things happening in religions okay something very very distinct though happened in the course of two years 1348 to 1350. anybody around then okay i was going to ask how you survived because that was when the black plague hit europe the bubonic plague anybody heard of that okay we'll get in a little deeper it started in china it killed over 25 million people there it traveled then from the silk road anybody ever done a study on the silk road it was the trade route that went across out of china came across through all of europe and stuff that's how they got goods from point a to b it's called the silk trade route it followed that road and it killed over 100 million people in less than two years population dropped by 45 percent in the world again there's just words out here there's these written bible biblically things and you got people that are dying because of this plague you may remember how it started what was it rats it's a cute rat anyway 1378 this is so intriguing to me in 1378 a.d there was a great rift a division if you will internally in the church there was a group of popes priests hierarchy in the church that had elect selected this particular pope to be their pope but then some of the cardinals and priests that were in the ministry at that time did not like him so they selected their own and his name was called anti-pope so there true so now you've got a group of people that are submitted completely to the religious teachings instructions or whatever of the pope and then in that organization you have those that are saying no we have an antipope and he's got these other things the anti-pope switched hands several times because he couldn't get his act together to please those who didn't like the pope it was not a good day to be a pope now you understand me listen um the teaching for this this month is on the word of god and you got to understand through every one of these moments in time the word is being handled and held in however whatever shape form or fashion it's going through all of this stuff and you and i can go to walmart and buy a bible or we can download it on and we take it so for granted any translation you want but when we look at the word of god and how it got to where it is there was an incredibly huge price paid for it i'm trying to stay on my track tonight in 1384 has anyone ever heard of john wycliffe probably have john wycliffe translated the vulgate which was domicius the first pope had picked jerome to put all the information in one place and now wycliffe takes the vulgate and he translates it into english again it's not in chapter version rhyme and so forth it is simply translated out of its original whatever that would have been into the english language and then in 1400 a.d there is what is known as the great renaissance anybody ever do a study on the renaissance there's a lot of interesting things happened out of the time frame of the renaissance i'm not so sure brother horton if i'd be really good riding a horse with a big stick knocking a guy off of his horse jousting that was during the renaissance jesters court jesters that was during the renaissance time huh bows and arrows shooting apples off of people's whatever stay with me because during the great renaissance that is when cultural arts politics science religion anything that was emotional and touchy-feely begin to overtake the culture that's when you're at your that's your basis for tree huggers and what it is during this time frame understand they begin to withdraw from religious-y things and they begin to focus more on grammar and rhetoric and history and poetry and philosophies at this point is where you would find many that would simply sit around in whatever open venue and they would talk and they would think and their minds were free and and they would wonder about the universe and the stars and and they would be all this ooey gooey artsy stuff and out of that of course since we're in the 1400s out of that came a time of incredible corruption in the catholic churches because here this according to history the reason the catholic church now is going through great strife is because over a million people died with the black plague and people said the church doesn't have power it doesn't serve any reason so they backed out of church and began to follow philosophies how interesting is that that they would rely on the church who had been through so much turmoil up and down ins and outs goods bads uglies popes antipopes and whatever else they did and now they get mad and they decide you know what 100 million plus died therefore y'all must not have power you should have been able to control it and i'm thinking this you know what why does this keep coming back up they ought to see already that the power is not there and so they begin to plug themselves into all these touchy feely emotional things but something very interesting happened in 1440 a.d i'm getting to the god's word stay with me we've got all this stuff got all this data all this information whatever good matter it was in 1440 a.d johann gutenberg invents the printing press it's called xerox no i'm joking he invents the printing press now what once would be in a week's time 40 pages could be written handwritten he can now do 300 pages in a day with this press lauren that's not too bad is it considering how many you printed right in in haiti in 1478 to 1834 a.d the spanish inquisition took place and at that point is when again they are they are investigating they are inquiring they now go into latin america south america and they begin to rumble through all of that area same purpose same desire to torture acts of violence uh anything that was was was had infiltrated into church that was negative or destructive then they were on it and they were going to take care of him if they had to invent something in 1492 aside from columbus silva okay all right very good somebody knew that one very good in 1492 pope alexander vi he is the most immoral and deplorable pope that has ever been in fact he had so many kids out of wedlock he he was such a corrupt pope the church began to say you know what we're not even sure what we believe anymore because of how he influenced the catholic church at that time it was very quick for him to kill someone very quick for him to pass judgment on someone as pope he had all the authority given and it was a very very tough time in the religious world at that time but something happened in 1517 a.d a young catholic priest by the name of martin luther published a paper he had 95 points that he had an issue with that he didn't agree with a little history of martin luther is he was a catholic priest given the responsibility to go from hamlet to community to town or whatever and he would demand taxes to be paid tribute to be paid to the catholic church from the farmers and the villagers and whatnot and guess what they were doing with those funds they were building these huge enormous gold laid catholic buildings cathedrals incredibly ornate his job was to go through and to take from people look you've got six goats i need two of them or you've got this i need four whatever it is and he would he would take this and the more he looked at what pope alexander and the other popes were doing and then he looked at what the other priests were doing just to survive he sat down he began to write points of contradiction in his mind and one day instead of going to work like he was told to do he goes to the church and he nails these 95 points to the door of the church when the church leaders came that day they thought well this is interesting so they remove it and they begin to read through these theses these topics and they begin to get infuriated and angry now they're stuck somebody's calling us out somebody is mentioning all these things that we've done we should do what with this catholic preacher guy do what can't do that why because he's right we can't send him away because i dare say this is probably not his only copy no doubt he's probably sent this to a hundred of his dearest friends if something happens to me hold on to that if something happens to me read that now they're in a quandary so very simply they ask him to leave and very gladly he does and that is what begins what you and i would consider reformation things began to be reformed now pause here i notice a bunch of dates a bunch of points that may or may not make sense to a lot of you but the reason this is so vitally important you hold in your hand if you if you have the king james version you have what was legally translated put into form by king james this can be released and we take that genesis exodus leviticus numbers deuteronomy are you with me okay we take that we take the new testament and we have those how many books 66 books in the bible and we read it we have lived our life by it our grandparents our parents and so forth have lived their life by it because that's our generations but understand something the reason that i want to next week we're going to pick up here and we have got some of the most and coolest things to talk about next week because we're going to pick it up from this date we're going to move forward we're going to see how now apostolic doctrine begins to rebirth itself people begin to get hungry for something and they don't know how or why but things begin to change and things begin to settle back down things begin to get into a place to where people are now saying i don't want to have to trust a pope or an antipope i believe the blood of jesus is sufficient we're going to get there we're going to get there listen to me carefully in all of the dates and all the things the reason i feel like it's so vitally important church that we understand it is because if all the scripture was given by inspiration of god god breathed that and through all of the years and all of the different things and the wars and the tortures and all the loss of life and the plagues and anything else that would have been to you and i would be horrible horrible where you and i are living i want to say something and i do not want to be misunderstood we're facing a pandemic called covid the the bubonic plague this holds no candle to that it's horrible yes but a hundred million to die but yet we have today still the word of god that breathes that light has life that that dwells that moves that that has being that you can read today and this and tomorrow that it'll get you up in the morning it'll put you to bed at night it'll work and it's amazing to me we're up now just into the beginning of the 1500s it's amazing in 2021 if you mention the bible today in certain circles what do they say that's an old book well man everything that i've talked about over the last two weeks they had the same opposition or worse now i came to church tonight nobody put a gun to my head for coming in the door did anybody else get that now my coupon expired i'm mad about that but nobody brother john would you come uh is this okay when we get to the word of the lord you need to understand the power and the ability of it let me tell you why what i have discovered and in looking at this i have a dear friend a friend that that that did hours and days and weeks and months and years of study for these dates and the specifics of this he was very kind to allow me to use this information but this is what we found what he found and what i've discovered in reading these things is everything you see in the bible that you hold so dear that i had you hug earlier points to an end called the rapture of the church catching away no man knows the day of the hour you know seasons though you understand seasons a time frame things are happening in our world 2021 that very quickly because of the information age in which we live information can go out and within 24 hours of a clock an entire nation an entire world can be stopped it's intriguing to me sitting in this room this evening that several have on face mask i've got my desk and i've got them in my car i wear them and we do that because we understand and we see what the doctors have said about this covert this coronavirus and we get that and it's a horrible thing but the challenge is this is if if if things turn us on end to where some do some don't some will some won't what do you think is going to happen when persecution or when when trials and tests begin to happen and you can't run to your word is there enough in here and in here to get you through there's some very interesting testimonies of pows that were held for years and years and they only had one or two verses they memorized as a kid but it was enough it was enough it was enough i asked you tonight as i bring this to a close what verse do you roll over in your mind throughout the day what bible verse is your favorite besides jesus wept how often do how often during the day did they just spill out thy word have i hid in my heart that i might not sin against you the name of the lord is a strong tower the righteous can run into and they are safe the lord is my shepherd i shall not want our father who art in heaven hallowed be thy name on and on and on and on and on you better get the words in your heart and your mind and your spirit you better make sure your children understand them kids sit down this is what it is this is what it is this is what it is i've often often wondered about our your our young people and our kids they could they could tell you almost verbatim who's on a certain basketball football whatever team and ask them the 12 disciples names let's see there's fred oh it's got to be a john raphael no he was with the sixers you think i'm joking cornering one of these kids out there walking out the door can you tell me the 66 books of the bible what would i say dangling dangling no i don't yes i can too person sis jennifer no genesis i know i'm over exaggerating we gotta get it guys look what it's been through look what this thing has traveled through how many i'm not even going i might mention in this study briefly the fox's book of martyrs anybody ever pursued that one it's about that thick it's the one that you set your kid on your son when you're cutting his hair because you've got to get him higher i read in english and spanish one of the most humbling and humiliating books that i've ever read because of what they put people through flayed alive burn in pots of oil all because they wouldn't bow to the idol get the book download it read it it will blow you out of your mind of what generations gone by have paid so that we could have the word stand with me tonight in this this roller coaster if you will up and down of the word and up and down of church and religions and things suffice it to say that when you have pope and a pope when you have islam when you have all these other religions and shoots and offshoots you're going to have a whole lot of teaching and instruction that's that basically is is not very based on holy apostles doctrine and teaching see there were there was there was this teaching james says that was once delivered to the saints once this is what it is this is how it is this is what happened and here the church has gone through all of this religions and all the world dying stuff like that here we are today when we look at it and understand it in 2021 just in the first few days of this year things are turning things are changing and i am so thrilled about the end time because my grandmother prayed for it all her life my mom has prayed for it all of her life and sister eunice i believe we're in it and i often wonder lord am i ready are my kids ready and then i'm i'm reminded what if my grandmother who prayed to be alive during the rapture what if she were still alive what would she be doing right now i'll tell you what she's just tall pray with me church lord thankful for your word all the scriptures inspired by you and through all the change and the seasons and the ups and the downs and the the world events and people and and politics and religion and all the the death and the destruction and all the things that have happened through the eons of time we stand here lord our culture our generation our society right now and we say thank you that your word is still a lamp to our feet a light to our path it is the bread of life it helps it leads and guides it instructs us and it it protects us lord i pray that as 2021 culture and society our
