Uh like I mentioned this is a new series. Uh this whole year we have spent every month on a different topic of greater. We've talked about greater men, greater women, not bigger. We found out greater families, um greater purpose, a lot of cool topics that we've talked about this past month. Anybody remember? >> Greater what? >> Serving. Yeah. this month, the month of September, we are going to continue in uh the theme of greater. I I I do trust that here at CAC because we do annual themes and we try to stay in a vein. We do that for multiple reasons. Uh first of all, it gives us a a big target to hit. Uh keeps us on track and it also helps us to methodically put together lessons and series of lessons that we can help the church family grow and be encouraged. This month is greater revival. Greater revival. If you want to take notes in your journal, feel free. Um when you hear the word revival, what what do you think? What comes to mind? Anybody? What comes to mind? >> Coming to life. >> Brought back. Someone else. Yeah. >> Awakening. Sure. What else? revival >> the church think. >> Yeah. You usually usually in that vein. Uh you think of a series of services with an evangelist, maybe special singing. Um everybody comes in from work. used to be Sunday, Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday was a break and then Saturday and Sunday when I was a kid and then it went to Sunday, Monday, Tuesday and then it went to Wednesday, Thursday, Friday and then it went to Wednesday then it went to Sunday and now it's online and hope you find something. Um, usually again, greater revival is is a topic that encompasses an entirety of a group of people. Man, just this past last week, I heard one of the pastors that's in the section here called and we were chatting. He said, "Man, we've we've been having revival services at our church." Great. How's it been going, man? It's just been really good. you know, started Sunday, Monday to okay, been a while since I'd heard it in that, sorry to say, since I'd heard it in that vein. Uh, that is one way of looking at revival and as somebody mentioned, an awakening, a redoing, a commitment again, uh, a re emphasizing, whatever. Uh but this month, every Wednesday and on Sundays, we're going to focus a little bit differently on revival. In fact, with intentionality, we're going to spend this month talking about our per personal revival. Because if we as individuals can hunger and thirst for a deeper walk and the move of God, it will translate into services, outreach, things that we do. Okay, this will be interactions. Everybody have their phone. If you had to call somebody right now, could you? It's a shame it anyway. Joking. Um, revival by definition, you guys know that's what I do. revival. Renewed attention to or interest in something. A new presentation or publication of something old. That's Webster's dictionary. Renewed attention to or interest in something. A new presentation or publication of something old. When you think of that definition, it could actually be applied to most anything. You can revive an old pair of jeans. Uh you can revive an old car. You can revive um you know the uh meal from last Sunday in a microwave. You know, you can revive a lot of things. Um but to personally be revived, I I I hope I hope that my heart and and brother Sam, he and I both have have delved into this. We feel like I mentioned this Sunday. I think we feel like CAC is in a season and things are beginning to happen even though many things have already happened. But God is bringing us to a time where things are changing in the atmosphere at the church. Does anybody else sense that? >> And I don't think it's just by the roll of the die or the the u throw of the dart. I I think honestly that the season we're living in uh I'm going to I I always reference this and I get stuck sometimes but I don't mean to. Um there's a war going on in the Middle East. Did anybody yesterday read the headline news? Who is now siding with Iran? >> Russia. Hold on. Anybody know Bible prophecy about the Tigress and Euphrates rivers? There's a connection from Russia through the Euphrates River that goes all the way through Iran into Israel. You understand? >> You see how quickly things can happen? I believe that we are living as individuals and as a church and as an organization and as a body. We are at a point that we personally have to begin to look at ourselves and what our involvement is in the kingdom. Several weeks ago, um, and I'm just I'll be very transparent here. I'm not casting stones or any of that, but uh, I began to pray about this. Lord, how can we in this last day not miss the outpouring? How can we as a church family not miss what you're trying to do? And I thought of that while Sam and I were walking the streets handing out invitations for vacation Bible school. And then a week or so later, he and I were on the street, different streets, handing out invitations for the building dedication. And on both of those accounts, there was three or four of us handing out the two or 300 invites that we had. So my question to brother Sam while we're walking in the 7 million degree heat was uh what is our purpose out here? Well, you know, we're trying to get folk to know about what we're doing here at CAC. Now I realize, please understand that there's a thousand ways anymore that you can invite somebody to church. We do a lot of social stuff, social media. We do a lot of those things. my wife spend a lot of time on the phone or sending emails or texts of people about the building dedication for an example. But I think sometimes if I may observation uh I think sometimes if we're involved at church in Sunday school or in in a class or in music or celebrate recovery call whatever it is whatever the church is doing a lot of times we consider that to be our part you know I'm doing a class so it doesn't make sense for me to have to go to the car wash too or I sing in the choir once a month when or the corral once a month when they sing. So they probably have all they need when it comes to outreach when the fact is again I began to pray about this. Lord help me to have the understanding I need as a pastor and I really feel like the Lord was very kind. The Lord began to with me establish some things that I feel like that the church across the board has begun to face. And that is simply this. We we sometimes misunderstand what it actually means to be involved in church. And if we're simply doing a thing at church, that should suffice for all things when that's never been the case. You know, Peter was the guy who preached on the day of Pentecost. Anybody remember that? >> Peter also was the one that fished. He was the one that helped gather food. He was the one that helped distribute food. He was the one that helped find place for Jesus. He was the one that intervened in in certain situations. You know, there's more to church than just being at a church service and doing something. Now, I appreciate the fact that you teach a class or that you sing in the choir, that you play an instrument. Absolutely. But I I pray this month that somehow someway we will rediscover. We will have a a greater revival within ourselves. Lord, if this church is going to have folk in it, it's going to take more than the pastor and his little group to go out and invite people. Help me, Lord, to fill that responsibility. We're going to start tonight by purpose. What is the purpose in the church? What is your purpose in the church? Again, feel free to take notes. What is your purpose in the church? >> Disciple. >> To disciple. Yeah. To disciple others. Absolutely. Someone else. What is your purpose? >> Lead by example. Absolutely. Someone else. >> Love folks. Sure. What else? >> Pray for folk. Anybody else? Purpose. Your purpose in the church. Further, >> further the how. >> There you go. Okay. So, further loving and all all those pieces, that's our purpose in the church. Now, my question then about any of those and and whatever was on your mind. Um, basically the purpose, your purpose in church is tangible. It's obtainable and it's reachable. It's a tangible thing. your purpose in church. You are not full of the Holy Ghost baptized in Jesus name to become a book on the shelf. >> You're not. You've got a purpose and it's tangible. You can feel it. You can see it. You can touch it. The truth of the matter is that all depends on how we see it. Do we see our Sundays and our Wednesdays as basically a place setter on our calendar so we don't miss something or we get to where our friends are? Or do we actually see it that God has changed our lives, given us the Holy Ghost, let us take on his name in baptism and then he wants us to do the things of God. Let me say it this way. This is this is brand new, hot off the press. Ready? We have to be the church. Nobody's heard that, right? Deep, huh? Be the church. You can write that down. Be e space te space church. Be to church. God claims. God's claim on our life is what gives us the purpose. And that's a tangible thing. talents, resources, relationships, all of those things. There are so many things that connect us to the purpose. So, here's a question. When you fell in love with Jesus, however many years ago it was, what did you feel like God was doing in your life? Why why was God able to fill you with his spirit? Anyone? Did anything change at all? >> What changed? >> My attitude. My habits, my talk, my dress. >> What did it change from and to >> from sin to seeking righteousness? >> Okay. >> Okay. Anybody else? Somebody else might have been different. Anyone else? >> Priorities. >> Priorities. Certainly. What's that mean? >> Priorities. What I give my time to. >> Okay. So, your purpose begins to take shape, form. Okay. Okay. Anyone else? >> Okay. Absolutely. Yeah. If you were young and you received the Holy Ghost and you were baptized, then you can forget some of that as you get older, right? I mean, we can remember a lot of things, but but not everything. Le let's talk about something. The I want I want to spend tonight's lesson on the calling. This is not for preaching. This is not for singing. This is not for playing. This is the calling that God puts on your life when he fills you with his spirit. Okay, let's look at Colossians chapter 1 verse number nine. This is New Testament teaching. Colossians chapter 1 verse 9. For this cause we also since the day we heard it do not cease to pray for you and desire that you might be filled with the knowledge of his will in all wisdom and spiritual understanding. We pray that you will have his will and you'll understand it and you'll comprehend it and the wisdom of God through the spirit will be in you. Verse 10, this is this is important. that ye might walk worthy of the Lord unto all pleasing, being fruitful in every good work, and increasing in the knowledge of God, strengthened with all might according to his glorious power unto all patience and longsuffering with joyfulness. Verse 12, giving thanks unto the Father, which hath made us to meet, made us meet, excuse me, to be partakers of the inheritance of the saints in light, who hath delivered us from the power of darkness, hath translated us into the kingdom of his dear son, in whom we have redemption through his blood, even the forgiveness of sins, who is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn of every creature. For by him were all things created that are in heaven, that are in the earth, that are in earth, visible and invisible, whether they be thrones or dominions or principalities or powers. All things were created by him and for him. Verse 17, and he is before all things, and by him all things consist. And he is the head of the body, the church, who is the beginning, the firstborn from the dead, that in all things he might have the preeminence. For it pleased the Father that in him should all fullness dwell. And having made peace through the blood of of his cross by him to reconcile all things unto himself. By him I say, whether they be things in earth or things in heaven. So the writer to the u Colossians here, Paul was telling them, there's wisdom and knowledge to be had from the time that you began to follow after Jesus Christ. And that in and of itself is what God is willing to invest in you. You, some of you mentioned, you know, you had a changed attitude. You had a change to the way you saw things, the way you dressed or where you went or things you did. That was because of part of the inheritance you received from the spirit of God working in your life. If somebody comes to you and says, "I have the gift of the Holy Ghost." And their life has not been changed, most likely it's not true. Why? Is that a fair statement? >> Why is that the case? >> Is there going to be fruit seen? So something is going to transform. Something is going to change. Agreed. Now we understand as well that it's different for a lot a lot of folk. Everybody's got different purposes and and things in their lives. But please understand that if you have an attitude or if you take on the personality of Lord, I pray today for the ministry at our church so that they can go do what you want them to do and you don't pray for yourself to do that. You listen carefully to pastor, you are more selfish than anyone because you're willing to pray God give it to them but you don't want to show fruit for what you've invested in. Is that okay? Fact remains greater revival in this hour should be Lord help us to have the knowledge and wisdom that we need because we have to be called into a greater time and season in this time of our lives. Uh can you please put the QR code on the screen? You got your phone? Would you guys scan this for me? We're going to do some questions here. Hopefully this will work for you. If not, it's somebody's else's fault, but I'll take the blame. Just go ahead and scan that, please. You have to put an email address in. That way, it'll send it to you once you're done. Oh, there's the most action we've had in All right. Do what? >> All right. We're going to try this and see if this works and helps us. Do you mind making me a copy of that, please? One hard copy. Thank you, sis. We'll bring you a hard copy, paper copy. Yeah. Is that okay? Yeah. All right. So, everybody got that up? You ask you to bring it put in your email. It then should come up with part one of question answer. Everybody there? What this is going to do at the end, we got three parts. We're going to answer some of these questions and then um it will email the results to you so you'll have them. We're trying this because the the last several times I had actual handouts, hard copies. Uh I found half of them on the seats when people left and I figured that that's probably hard to carry a piece of paper around. So, I I know you won't let your phone lay your phone down. >> Yeah. And Sister Bri, helped me figure out how to do this. So, we're gonna hope it works. All right. This is about the calling. Do you have number one up? You should have a list of like five or six questions. All right. I'm going to be quiet for just a moment. I want you to read through those. Underneath question one, there's a place you type, put an answer, go to the next one, put an answer. Okay. >> This is just part one. >> Part one. Uh-huh. And then Thank you so much, sis. Yeah. >> Thank you. Sure. All right. So, take a few moments because this is about your calling. Following questions will help you reflect. What are my recurring opportunities? How has God used me? On and on. You don't need me to read those. If everybody can do part one, please take a few moments to do that. I'll watch the clock. What what what do you see? >> What uh on your job? Are there always people interested in knowing about what you believe? Uh at the store, do you see places where you can help people? At church, are you able to encourage opportunities? Because they show up in most of the time in very different ways. So, please take some time and fill these out. All right, everybody done? I'm joking. >> >> How we doing? Okay, just breathe in. Good. I guess it worked. She wants to know if it counts for screen time today. If so, she said she's feel like she getting jipped. All right. >> Yeah, just do the one. We're going to talk about the calling the part number one. Okay. We'll talk about it for a few and then we'll go to part two and three. Something very interesting about the call. Okay. the purpose if you will of individually of individuality let's call it basically um situations that you put or that you find yourself or that you put yourself into call of God has a remarkable resemblance to opportunities that we have had that's an interesting point the call of God is very very similar has almost has a an an a ring of just opportunities that you have come against or come up with. See, I I think so many of us have complicated the call of God because we want it to be some supernatural voice from heaven rattle the chandeliers and speak into our lives. And if I may, God does do that. Okay? But not always. In fact, it's typically opportunities that you find yourself in is where God is saying, "I need you to be actively doing something in this situation." All right. So, I want to dispel then some myths if I could. If you're taking notes, please write this down. The call of God is not mystical. It's not magic. It is opportunities. Because here's how it works. Anybody here have the Holy Ghost? Identify? >> You have the Holy Ghost. Raise your hand. It's okay. All right. With the Holy Ghost, guess what now happens? Wherever you go, who goes with you? The spirit of God. So, wherever you are is your calling. That's why on your job, at the store, at your class, at the gas station, wherever it is, in a family environment, if the opportunity is there, guess what God's saying to you? I know where you are because I am here with you. You can be an example here. Okay? I think if I may, I know myself, my wife, and our our family, if you will. Sometimes we beat ourselves up because we're looking for this man, I'll just put myself I'm looking for this great mystical voice from God. And what I just did was I complicated God's call because he said, I I watch why why do I need to do that? Didn't I allow you to go to work today? Or didn't I allow you to walk down this aisle at the grocery store? Or didn't you need fuel in your car? And so now you can uh while you're standing there, talk to somebody about me. Is that fair? Anywhere you are, if if if somebody asks you a a Bible question and you're on the job, what is your response going to be? I think that's an honest question. Is it going to be, you know what, let let me see. I'm gonna get my pastor on the phone. >> Uh, no. Okay, that's probably not a good idea because he won't answer. Um, what I'm going to do is I'm going to get you a lesson together and then I'll be back next week and you bring donuts and we'll go over it. Is that what you do? I'm convinced. Listen carefully please. I am convinced there are God moments in everybody's life. >> And there are moments of time when God says, "This is why I filled you with my spirit. Open your mouth and talk. Reach your hand out and touch. Put your arm around them and pray. Read a Bible verse that you've been reading. Whatever it is, that's the call. It's opportunities that you find yourself in. The first one, that's why this question, why what are my recurring opportunities? Okay. What is what is something happening in your weekly or your daily or your your walk? Maybe that's part of the calling and God saying, "I gave you this job for a reason or I put you in this position on purpose." And then how has God You know beyond a shadow of a doubt that God has used you in the past. Anybody? What What was different about that moment than any other moment? Are we waiting for something catastrophic to happen in somebody's life and then we're going to tell them, "Look, if your life ever blows apart, come see me. that that almost doesn't sound fair because then they're afraid to death to come and see you because it means something bad is going to have to happen for them to come and see you know brother Ron you ruin everything. Well, here's the thing. Here's the thing and boy this is one I'm trying to keep my clock. Um I am convinced as well that there are times in life when you feel valuable. Man, I'm glad I was there to pray for that person. Well, you know what? I was able to share my witness with them. Man, that was great. Does that happen every time? Does it happen every day? Why? Why doesn't it? I think you're right, but I want to know why. Why shouldn't it be just every step you take? Jesus loves you this. I know Jesus love you. Why can't it be that? >> Is where we're at. >> So there you go. And it's where they are, that person or that Yeah. Okay. If that's the case, which I I agree with, I think we're probably all guilty in 2026 of walking a line with blinders because it's easier to get through the day if you don't have the distractions. I mean, you know, you you can't be mad if you have a flat tire because God may actually know what he's doing. My wife sometimes accuses me of getting lost intentionally. I said, "Well, honey, I'm driving. I have the round thing." I always use the round thing. Anybody else? I've got the round thing. If you have This is what I do to She's trying. If you have the round thing in your hand, raise your hand. Oh, I don't see your hand up. So, I get to pick the way to go. Now, she says, "Cuz I'm a man, I'm not going to ask direction." But that's beside the point. I may be spiritual. Here's the thing. Here's the thing. I'm convinced that at that moment, as much as that sounds silly, I'm convinced the call of God on my life puts can put me in a position even if I take the wrong turn. What we I feel this so strongly that if we are going to have the outpouring we expect God to do in this last day, we are going to have to look at the call of God in a different light. Come on. You don't have to go to Bible school and pull six years of study in order to have a call of God in your life. He's filled you with the Holy Ghost that comes with the call and you can be used anywhere. You can plug in anywhere. Anywhere. Some of you I know spend a lot of time at home. You're homeschooling your kids or you're you work from home. All the home things that you know that this society brought. That doesn't mean it stops your witness that okay so the call what is opportunities that keep coming up? When do I feel the most fulfilled and valuable and what things am I uniquely qualified to do? What do I feel compelled to do? For what specifically do I feel accountable to God? I think in this month, what we're trying to get down to the basis is this. Are we accountable to God for the gift that he's given us? >> Are we I think that's a val valid question. Lord, I I know that I don't have to walk the street and pound people over the heads with with a stick and tell them that they're going to hell if they don't follow after me. I know I don't have to do that. But Lord, I do think that I have a I have something. I have a witness. I have a testimony that I can say or share or be with people. Hey, listen carefully. Does anybody believe that you can testify without opening your mouth? Then live that way. Then live that way. I've heard so many even in our church and growing up as a kid, I heard it that they just knew there was something different about me. What What did they know was different about you? That your pants were longer or that your shirt sleeves were were were cuffed, right? Or that your tie was tied with a single instead of a double. What does it mean? What What did they feel? Or what did they sense? Why would you make that statement? Help me somebody. >> So it was the way they presented themselves. What else? That's a great point. Someone else >> questions. >> Okay. You're Okay. What else? >> You're different. Well, I know a lot of people that are different than me. I mean, you know, I'm not I don't I don't understand pink hair. I don't know how I would maintain it. That's different than me. I'm I'm saying should then I go to them and ask them for help. It's a question. Do I judge them by the pink care? I'm using that as an example. No. What do I do? Somebody said it earlier in this session. We allow the fruit of the spirit to be seen in our lives as we just walk our daily lives on the job, in the classroom, at school, um, in Walmart, heaven forbid, uh, Dillards, the mall, the lake, the beach, it doesn't matter. I I I I do pray that nobody in this class, nobody listening to this lesson thinks that you can disrobe the spirit of God and put it in a box. Sorry, Lord. I'll pick you up when I get off vacation. I mean, that doesn't even sound right, does it? But yet, so many times. So many times we're we're guilty of saying, "Oh, I'll reach out to him next time. I know myself, Lord. I feel like I need to say something to that person over there, man. They gonna think I'm crazy. All right, God. If they walk back by and they have a one left shoe off and they got a cup of coffee, then I Anybody? Come on, tell act like I'm the only one. And then and then then you see him coming and you're like, "Well, I didn't see him. I did that come I didn't know. I didn't know." Come on. We complicate. We try to make it to where, you know, it's like the guy that's on a diet. He's not going to go to Crispy Cream Donuts anymore. Yeah. He pulls in the parking lot. He prays, "Lord, if that that first spot's open, I sure will for me to have a donut." Yeah. He said he had to make about six wraps or drive passes around the building before it finally emptied and he can pull in. Sorry. Let's go to on on your phone. Let's go to the second one. Part two. First of part one was on your calling. Part two is my calling over time. Can you please take a few moments and answer those six or seven questions, please? Should go to next at the bottom. I think there's four steps. The next step, my calling over time and the basis. Consider how your sense of calling may have evolved over time. Please take a couple of minutes for that one. while they're filling it out in the classroom. If you're watching this online, you should have access to the QR code as well. Feel free to scan it and join with us. >> >> I know this part two has got some pretty pretty detailed things in it. For the sake of time, I only have a few moments here, a couple or about five minutes. So, um, if please take your time, finish it maybe later, but part one is my calling. And basically, it just talked about opportunities you've had. Part two, how did I first receive or discern my sense of calling? Please remember that we are not focused on your call to preach or call to pastor or call to mission. This is the spirit of God speaking into your life. Have I ever prayed for God to open a particular door that never opened? Anybody? I know I have. Yeah. Again, back to the doughnut shop. Lord, if it's your will. Have I ever desired a particular calling only to realize later that it was a mistake? Sure. I think probably anybody that has activated the spirit of God in your life, you probably messed that up occasionally. How have I misunderstood my calling in the past? Anybody want to answer that publicly? How have you misunderstood? Yes, ma'am. like in what sense? >> Okay. >> So, you'll reach a pl a place and then from that you can begin. I got you. Anyone else? Yes. Okay. >> So, you had an image and you were trying to fulfill what that image was. Yeah. I I I think Yeah, I think that's real. Anyone else? One more. >> Expectations. >> That's right. Expectations. Absolutely. From someone else and from yourself. Absolutely. Anybody else? One more. >> I think understanding the attributes and purpose behind not >> like >> it's more. >> Okay. Because you can misunderstand it and then think it be this when actually it's this is that or you're thinking it's this and it should be this. Yeah, I think that's fair as well because the misconception many times of the call of God again is that God only does that to Moses. He only did that to um a Daniel. He He only did that to an Abram. When the the truth when when God promised that the seed of Abraham would be as the sand on the shore, Abraham simply got that call in his life and it did not change. God was with him. God honored him. God directed him. God led him. The steps he took, he knew he was under the shadow of Almighty God. So, as many of you have mentioned that when you're younger, when you're new, you you kind of have expectations of this and or that or maybe you don't have any expectations at all and God's simply uncctioning you and opportunities keep showing themselves and you keep wrestling with them because it's hard to wrap your mind around them. I think that's fair. Okay, so if you haven't uh done all of those, please do. So, let's go to part three. I've got a couple of minutes and I need to finish up. My calling today, there's only four points here to this one. Part three. From the perspect from today's perspective, answer this. I am called to what? What are the evidences of this call? What are the various roles in which I can fulfill my calling? And how am I exercising my calling today? I've got to make >> Yes, ma'am. >> The evidence is the only other person I've heard of that has ever experienced this. Her name is Beth Moore. Um but uh when I do landscape and I'm working with gravel, not just I in my garage I have volcan >> okay >> hearts >> parts and I know that I know that God is pleased with what I'm doing. I feel like those hearts are the evidence. >> Okay. >> Of what I'm supposed to >> Okay, there you go. And you got buckets of that >> and they're real. >> Yeah. >> The real shape. You don't have to guess. Yeah. There. >> Okay. And so there's a purpose to the calling. If that's what you Yeah. The voice of God speaks that way. Why not? >> Yeah. I buy a heart-shaped donut. I'm joking. Boy, I keep going back to donuts, right? >> Yeah. >> That's a great example, sis. So are you able tonight to actually confess identify I am called for this and maybe it's a specific it might be as simple as I am called to be a voice or I am called to be a shoulder or I'm called to be a smile in somebody's life. That's man. We live in a world now that needs all of the above and more. Agreed. What I do want to make sure we understand next week this will continue. Brother Sam will continue with another series or another part of this series I should say. We're going to try to connect the dots over the next few weeks. But listen carefully please. I want us to understand greater revival comes when we identify with who we are, what God is doing in our lives. I am convinced that if we could recognize the spirit of God speaking, working and moving in our lives on a daily basis, it will help us outside these four walls to do more to do simple things that demonstrates the power of God working in our community. Now, I'm I I do pray for our church every day, and I I do I pray often, Lord, let cars that drive by this building feel your power and spirit. Anybody else pray that? What if God were saying, "Okay, go out there and you be that example to them and then they'll come." It's a question. We're expecting many times for God to do the supernatural. Help me now. And we won't do the natural. The fruit we talked about that's in our lives. Again, I'm not asking for anybody to go out and put on a um pick up a cross and walk across America with it or anything like that. fact that in some countries it's a very real way that people identify with who they are.
