in the media room I I put them on on watch that they're going to have to follow me tonight Matthew chapter 6 verse 33 all right give them a second to bring that is anybody know this one anybody all right let's bring up Matthew 6:33 please are you listening are you hurrying are you on the phone oh here it is thank you all right guys everybody loud voice out loud ready but seek ye first the kingdom of God and his righteousness all these things shall be added unto you this is our theme for the year I feel it pertinent to bring it out and remind us we don't have to do 34 guys there you go um to remind us of why and what and how come I think that there's a lot of things that we we need anybody here have a need probably not y'all probably have everything you want right everything I really think that the Lord has a plan in mind and when Jesus sat and began teaching this was very Paramount seek first the um we we're here and and we're going to continue the theme for this month um every month of course has been different as part of the midweek University and

this month the the theme we're going to talk about Matthew Chapter 5 uh verse number 10 11 and 12 is where we will take our text from Matthew 5 verse 10 11 and 12 somebody read that for me please everybody's looking up so nobody has a Bible go ahead please 11 uhuh and 12 thank you wow blessed are they which are persecuted uh me go back please to verse 10 on screen somebody read that with proper punctuation see what what it says the word righteousness is not righteousness it's what righteousness is it's a possessive know what that mean rightousness is that changes the meaning it's not just righteousness but it's a for the righteousnesses sake side note all right wow what is your now if you haven't sat in one of my classes I I really enjoy back and forth so I can I can kind of make sure we're getting this um the Kingdom of Heaven according to what we just read the Kingdom of Heaven is for those who are persecuted for righteousness' sake okay now uh 2024 give me a definition what is a definition of persecution anyone yes Sam your hand was up okay oh well persecution anybody meanness yeah but intentional okay someone else what is persecution anyone at all you can stop the commercials rolling out here anyone at all what's persecution okay attack for something you believe right what else persecution okay can I ask this question is it such a challenge for us to answer this because we may not really understand persecution that's a question I'm sure that I've been persecuted before and I'm sure I've probably persecuted someone before I don't know I'm human but I really don't have a concept of being whipped or burned at the stake do you you see what I'm saying so for us it's a challenge to really get I mean I I could say it this way is anybody here know what it's like to have birth a child well you don't even want to know what I went why because of your experience right persecution though is one of the things that uh it happens okay we're going to look at it here a little deeper it might bring some clarification to us tonight of course I

I like I like definition persecution by the definition is to harass or punish in a manner designed to injure to grieve or to afflict to harass or punish now um I think that we could go into the history books of of any culture of any time frame of any nationality any movement and we'll find stories of people that were persecuted indeed there's books written about it there's movies made about it there's songs written about it on and on about persecution of of certain people for for what it doesn't simply it doesn't have to be religious it can be anything persecuted because of your name or because of what what you wear what you don't wear uh

one that we might would understand a little better is how many remember the stories of the Holocaust would we say that the Jews were persecuted why would we say that tortured for sure what outse why would we say the Jews were persecuted because of who they were that okay anyone else that's just one example anyone else the motive was was to what to inflict to harass to stop and they they put wheels under that and you know six million died for that reason so and that Mir in that Myriad of of incidents that happened I think that we can we can safely say through that story through that time frame in history we might understand a little better persecution now now I have a question again about about today how do you see persecution in in 2024 in our world how children okays deeper Ander new new stories okay very well someone else oh okay because that can be persecution as well right um now it's not to say there's not phys physical things but um I think um wow I don't want to get sidetracked here I think in in times past the question that I've always wondered as growing up um and in school and in my own studying things for an example about the Holocaust using that again as the example um why didn't they just fight you back I mean I mean I'm I'm that's going to sound really simple and basic to you but I'm I I'm watching the documentary and I see 250 Jews and three guards and I'm like you could just literally throw bodies at those guys and you could take them out I mean honestly I mean they might shoot their gun sooner or later they're going to run out of bullet I'm I don't want to sound morbid but in my mind I'm like you're you're being persecuted Ed by these guys and yet you're not fighting back why is that this is a very important part of persecution why didn't they fight back what else that's true but what else say it again why fear why was that the case you're on the right tracks sis but what would be your idea what did they break before they broke their bodies what did they break their will and they did that with fear intimidation tactics to stop them from continuing what they were doing reason that's an important part of this lesson is because I think Lauren mentioned it's not so much physical it's psychological it's emotional guys if if if you can be afraid and somebody can overpower You by simply breaking your will what what is happening you mentioned it earlier what is happening in our culture 2021 there's probably bullets flying in certain places is there's probably bat swinging in certain place okay we understand that but I tell you what if if an entire part of the system and I'm I want be I don't want to be political or any of that but if it's truth if media can portray something what happens then your mind and then what I better not say anything or I better be you see the point you know again back to the Holocaust and only because there's a whole lot of history to be read there uh the the very first tool that Hitler implemented was simply what was it propaganda in what way you're on the right track not first that was be okay let me rephrase it before they went into the camps what did his party do go back go back again more keep going because to be honest again for those that are history Buffs um when he came out with his working Class party which is what it was he basically just simply said we need to work hard and everybody's like okay and this is how we're going to do it how we're going to bind together unite is there anything wrong with that story no then he implemented the the what you call the brainwashing what you call the fear factor and then people when the time came he simply just stepped in and said they're in this mode and system now and he just systematically started a process and years later I'm bringing that point again because in 2024 for us to really comprehend persecution is a great stret I mean I might consider persecution being what do you mean you don't have sweet cream for my coffee I just don't know I can function today you know that might be persecution to me and the guy next to me May being beaten because he's wanting to drink a cup of coffee let's move forward a little further um is is harassment in 2024 is harassment truly persecution no could it be in what way I want us to think tonight about this because Jesus Took time in his Sermon on the Mount to give three verses minimum to this about persecution here's my point I don't believe if I was going to have a mass of people follow me somewhere that I would paint this ugly picture come follow me they'll persecute you I mean he would raise your hand if Jesus Walks In hey hey guys this gonna be great you're gonna be blessed you're gonna be this and that but blessed if you're persecuted anybody want to join me let's go that is not am I only one who thinks that huh I'm like well now whoa that ain't at all so follow me you're going to suffer let's go suffer together G be great be great your kids are not go is never going to have anything because you're going to suffer come follow me woohoo oh you're looking at me cuz it sounds ridiculous but you real Jesus is sitting down in Matthew 5 and Matthew is making this commentary of what Jesus is saying and his words are simply this blessed are the me blessed are The Peacemaker then he gets to in verse 10 he says blessed are those which are persecuted for wanting to do right and it's not you they're fighting or persecuting it's against righteousness righteousness is sake because the right way to do things is his way you've got to learn that and then Jesus says men are going to revile you persecute you and say all manner of stuff against you falsely and it's not because of who you are but it's for my sake so not only are you going to have to give up everything you have not only you going to have to change everything you've ever been taught or thought you're now going to have to say okay they're going to beat me up because of you thank you I'm just just human and what did the multitudes do we're with you Jesus let's go Rejoice even says and be exceeding glad I mean that's not aoo what uhuh I mean it's Rejoice somebody show me what it means to be exceeding glad come on any demonstration here all right Lauren did this for those that was was all you got I just wanton a million dollars somebody show exceeding glad boy that wasn't even a good wave in the baseball game could it be y y'all don't get mad at me few minutes ago I said could it be we can't explain persecution because we've not could it be we can't explain exceeding glad because we may not exceeding glad says I rejoice and I'm exceeding glad because I have a reward in heaven and if I'm persecuted for his sake the right way sake then I'm thankful doesn't say and you're going to love it it simply says it's going to happen that okay harassment uh uh let me I'm going to move forward I just I've got some time I'm watching it um

is is just feeling uncomfortable persecution I mean some may consider it you know we we come we come to ch Church couple times a week two three times a week and in the church building in this edifice in my in my humble opinion it should be the very place that you can actually be 100% Apostolic no judging just woo God's good he be good to you be good to you be good to me yes good seting glad but so often we come into the house of the Lord I'm so glad to be here oh I'm thrilled God has just been good to me I'm so happy not even am I right is this okay when we above anybody in this world ought to be so glad that he loves us so glad he makes a way for us so glad that In Spite of Ourselves he cares for us so so happy and glad Lord I know I don't understand it all but I so am thankful that you give me an opportunity to come to worship you now if you're going to have to um suffer persecution you might want a little bit of explanation right

so what's happened if you will over the last couple of months and then you'll continue to see over the following months is you're going to see a lot lot of talk about first the kingdom and understanding the value of the kingdom of God again allow me a moment here in when we look at the Biblical context of the kingdom of God that was very very strange to them now the Jews in the New Testament they had education on kingdoms which would it have been the kingdom of David Solomon I mean they would have understood kingdoms right now they're in Jerusalem um there's still law going on there's still the feast going on you know the Matthew Mark Luke and John you read They're still the they're following the Mosaic way of doing things right but the fact remains that Jesus walks into the midst of that and his message quite honestly is not really one to run to why because Jesus knew what was about to happen and y'all are sitting here in Matthew 5 and y'all are listening to what I'm saying to you here in Matthew 5 and y'all are accounted for what we're doing here in Matthew 5 and I'm trying to explain to you what because you know he just started ministry he just just really started on the scene you know he was baptized he come out he spent 40 you see and he's there now and he's telling in the very first foundational things he starts blessed are you if blessed are you if and then he gets this persecution and everybody's looking at him and he says but the prophets were persecuted and the same way they were persecuted is what's going to happen to you now here's my question let's back the real up to that time frame were the people sitting in front of Jesus at that moment were they so enamored excited thrilled whatever you want to call it enveloped in the very fact that they could be blessed and so they stood up from there shook the wipe the dirt off where they'd been sitting in the grass listening to Jesus and when he took off walking they started behind him because the Bible gives specifically here I mean it goes through this entire list of Matthew 5 Matthew 6 on and on how that Jesus is explaining to people people what he's about and the Bible tells us specifically that multitudes would come out listen follow ad heere to what he was saying some walk away yes but others were there they were figuring out listen to me they were figuring out that without Jesus there was no hope but with Jesus you get all this stuff but there's hope so here we are today 2024 question is it worth it is living for Jesus the best thing you've ever done why why surely there's other things that are just as good why is this in your mind in your heart in your thoughts why is it so good what about if persecution really does start I'm just asking I don't want to push anybody in into getting beat up because of Jesus but uh we see stories all the time you know I don't want to I wanted to stay away from this but I feel it pertinent um we know people in Haiti right now Lauren that are probably being persecuted you think and it's not because of who they are it's because of what they been for there are other nations in the world that are persecuting people that Proclaim they love Jesus I I I try to y'all know this about me I try to kind of keep a an understanding on the times in which we live and when I see for an example in other countries if somebody believes in Jesus that the multitudes or the crowds are pushing them and shoving them and kicking them and all I don't write the narrative so I don't know what's going on there I can only assume that whoever's taking the video from their phone is trying to pass along information I would hope that's the case but I W I just watched one today when I was putting this together a young lady in Israel that was sharing Christianity with someone and and somebody some men walked by and overheard her and it was Mayhem broke out I don't know if she made it out or not it all just got uh we are living in a day when if you stand for anything you will be questioned about why you stand for that it doesn't matter what it is right wrong good bad or ugly if you stand for anything you could stand for let can I just be very silly you could stand for the rights of dogs and somebody's going to be mad at you because you're not standing for dog the rights of cats oh that sounds silly here we are what's happening follow me for a moment persecution is going to happen at one level or another now my my grandparents they used to say this often of course they were old school they were some of the founders if you will of of of a church and and and a and a way of having Church Church you know the early years of church and some of your grandparents may have or parents may have as well but um oh you just think we're persecuted now you just wait they're going to hate us yeah they're going to they're going to throw us I mean it's going to be so bad and and as a kid I'm listening my grandparents talk how bad it's going to be I'm like them why in the world what I want anything to do with that and then I found out the love of God surpasses all that fear and then and then I come to understand that terms like Holy Roller Jesus only Jesus Freak that's not persecution at all now I'm I'm not old I'm not young but I'm not super old but I remember I've told y'all before tent meetings cars driving by throwing Tomatoes at the tent eggs I'm pulling a parking lot or the field that we were in and honking their horns for five minutes straight so nobody could hear I don't think that was persecution in fact in fact my grandparents and all the people there at that place they thought it was cool they see us they see us see they see us they yeah they see us another tomato save that that's a garden that came out of whatever in the beginning of the church age here in the United States please understand that there was indeed some persecution anybody here study the apostolic found Foundation here in the US turn of the century kind of stuff yeah marry the little girl in the school and TOA she was what is wrong with you you have lost your mind read your story her professor had gone away for you know the story right the history she he'd gone away over to Christmas break left the students there they began to pray and say is there anything to this Holy Ghost outpouring speaking in tongues like Acts 2 and it happened to Young Mary and and and then Professor comes back and and he called her dumb you know what are you doing what's wrong you lost your mind and then the other student started receiving the Holy Ghost speaking in tongues and and it became more and more challenging for him to actually say anything contrary to it prayer meetings would break out all over the nation I mean Texas was inundated Indiana you know we've all heard of the isua street outpouring right do you really know the history of that and how that began that was man they were pointing fingers throwing rocks um it was a three-year Revival nonstop tell me there wasn't some persecution there but in the midst of all of that I'm watching my clock in the midst of all of that people kept coming they're goingon to hate you for righteousness' sake I know and they've come but they're not going to understand you they're going to call you because of the name of Jesus they're going to point their finger at you I know they're going to say all manner of things against you because of Jesus I know I didn't really understand the true meaning of this and and I'm G to say this and I don't want to I don't want to offend anybody but I I now I think understand more when my grandmother my grandfather uh for an example when somebody would call them um Jesus only people boy they lit up they know who I stand for they weren't afraid of that of course as I've shared with y'all multiple times the Miracles and things they saw solidified what they were believing the empty wheelchairs the canes throwing on the stage the crutches the braces that and the power of God moving in the midst of the people that were hungry I've shared with you guys before I've seen eyes grow in a person's sockets tell me I don't I'm not going to believe I believe God can do that I watched it happen I wasn't in the United States I watched the baby's legs that were turned in couldn't walk mom had to carry it I watched them set that baby on the floor and take off running I watched that you tell me God won't do that now here's the problem you can see it I saw it several years ago but I I I think I'd like to see it again yeah but am I too afraid persecution somebody going to say something oh they're gonna think I lost my mind or they're at work you know you got to keep quiet about you can't stand up for what you believe in all because you know people are going to start you know there rumors and people will Point their FA you'll lose your job and on and on and uh you can ask somebody sitting in this room when when when they should have prayed in their classroom and I said pray well what if I lose my job then lose your job you know what I said did you lose it who's going to go run who's going to go run and tell somebody my teacher down there praying and I don't know why I feel better oh we probably need to stop that feeling better stuff don't we I me using that as an example um I would dare say when Jesus was sitting on the hillside that day day giving instruction um he wanted folk to understand the value of what he was going to bring into the world it was not simply going to be a message a a sermon it wasn't simply going to be something that a lesson that he would present but he was actually telling them I have come to fulfill all of the law that was written wait a minute that's 613 points yes I fulfill that but you're one man how can you do that watch and Jesus everywhere he went what happened to those who would believe miracles signs and wonders he he even it's even interesting how that that the writers would make sure he did not many works there because of their unbelief they brought all the sick to him they believed and he healed them all because everything was tied to what your ability to have faith in him and to trust that giving everything to him was the right thing to do because then if you truly understand what the prophets went through you're going to get a lesson next week I won't be I'll be out of town brother V is Gonna Fill into me he's already asked me can I talk about Fox's book of Martyrs anybody ever read that he's going to bring that into lesson H listen to me I had to read it English and Spanish because I taught it in the Bible School in yearo boy that was a challenge point is this if you're going to live for God it is going to cost and it is not going to be what everybody paints a picture can I say it this way it's not going to be a Hallmark movie with a snow globe at the end look they just love Jesus and they just went and he just picked them and and they walked through life like that and they the disciples didn't walk through life anybody know how the disciples died let's continue I'm watching my right time the old Tim is considered it a way of receiving the blessing of God because they were doing what God was asking them to do now I'm sure they didn't like the tomatoes thrown at them the harassment whatever that people were saying but I I can tell you this that when when the church begins when people begin to connect with the power and the presence of God only good things can happen I I think we all have to understand that there's no evil in God he cannot do wrong he has no nature to sin if it comes from God you know it's going to be good and right so therefore what should we learn in 2024 The More I Seek him the more I find him the more he reveals to me what he is and then I adjust my life to what he's telling me to do I'll say this and don't get upset with me but until you're willing to sell out 100% you're going to walk a line that's going to pull you just like this and you're going to be so off balance all the time but if you'll jump into what God's doing will the persecution come yes but blessed are you what do you mean blessed I'll tell you what blessed means blessed means God's hand and favors on your life

Paul remember let's go let's look at another scripture second Timothy second Timothy chapter number two second Timothy chapter number two verse number eight can somebody read that for me 8 through 13 please it's on the screen for us screen Watchers somebody go ahead somebody else nine see someone 11 someone 12 someone 13 someone faithfulness to God serving and loving him the blessing comes the writer to Timothy was saying look Jesus has all the power but until you sell out to him you're going to you're going to back and forth you're going to Waller you're going to wonder you're going to question if you'll just love him you're going to have things happen you will suffer yes there will be things to happen has anybody here ever been sick and loved it I did Co so well nobody says that oh y'all don't even know how good I look when I was giving birth you know no nobody says that why because when you suffer it it ain't pretty huh but if you're suffering for Christ's sake for his name's sake is it going to be pretty depends on what you're looking at if you see him best thing you'll L eyes on if you're seeing your situation it can literally destroy you but if you suffer with him he says it to the young preacher here you're going to reign with him how's he going to how's he going to know if he can let you into heaven or not what will be the tail what is it what else and there's two books what's the other book help me is there it's the lamb book Lamb's Book of Life your nam's written name there's also the works that you did they go side by side so we want to see our name in the Lambs will go life but what about when he opens this one what's you going to see oh that probably needs to be classed on itself why this one everybody everybody knows there's a there everybody knows you're going to receive something when you walk into heaven right what are you going to get a what a crown and a we shall wear a robe and Crown ready I'm going to wear a crown going to wear what are we going to do with our crowns according to what the 24 Elders did we're going to what how do we know what the crown looks like how do we know what's on it is it just going to be a big ring or is it going to be covered in stones or we don't know do we you know what we do know is that the value of that is not going to compare with him and so whatever we would have gained we freely can give away why because we understand everything we went through he took care of us and he saw us through to the end such is the kingdom of heaven see when Jesus came and when Jesus began to teach such as the Kingdom of Heaven seek first the kingdom put the kingdom first let let this thing work in you why because he was making folk to understand him coming to planet Earth to walk in shoe leather was not a simple walk in the park but he was I must needs suffer but I'm going to do it for you and then guess what you get to do it for me how cool is that so when they come with whips and chains what are you going to do and they want to shoot you or they want to are you going to you see what I'm saying I I think we have to understand something in this hour that if we suffer with him we will reign with him but I believe that when Jesus established here blessed are those who are persecuted for righteousness' sake if you'll do the the right thing you must expect persecution but if you're persecuted and you suffer you'll also reign with him so the end goal is what not to get away from the suffering but to what to reign with him to spend eternity with him so I ask again 2024 what does the word persecution mean I I think we have to evaluate each day Lord what's happening what is to happen and help me Lord to understand that if I stand for you I cannot Escape persecution

now the the his name everybody read this his name y'all s what does that have to do with anything about persecution I tell you what you're going to find out this month that it's the kingdom is about those who are persecuted for what his namesake so on your job with your family wherever you are speak the name Jesus and Watch What Happens they'll be mad speak it they'll be upset speak it can I break some I want to help somebody understand something they're going to be upset anyway speak the name Jesus use the name Jesus the weeks to come we'll have discussions about that person persecution and what happens we're going to talk about a little more about how persecution have shaped the church the church in which you I don't mind telling you that the the elders who started this assembly I know went through some stuff why as they walked into this city and said we're going to begin a work because God told us to and brother Austin has shared with me multiple times how that his first service he had over 100 people and his second service him and his wife his third service him and his wife fourth service him and his wife you see what I'm saying did he call it persecution no you you know what he told me he said my wife she knew every message I had because I just preach every Sunday I said what happened he said sooner or later God sent us people what happened then they left but I'd call it all joy he told me I counted all happiness because I was doing what God was telling in me to do if if you really love the Lord and you truly under and you truly want a blessed life blessed are those who are persecuted for righteousness' sake if you're going to follow his name if you're going to pursue his name you got to know something friend the enemy doesn't want you to is anybody here can you say his name what is it pleas one more time can you can you say the enemy's name why not you don't want to not to mention what you don't have a name it's Lucifer he's the representation of devil sloot old Fox and listen to me carefully I'm I got one minute in the day and age in which we live we must understand the value of the blessing from Jesus and those that are persecuted are blessed some of you need to make decisions concerning your future and you're afraid of it because of you're afraid of what people will say or how they'll what they'll do the fingers they'll point the accusations they'll give you I'm telling you if you put Jesus first he will love you through that at the end of it all what I'm looking for is the same thing you're looking for Well done thy good faithful servant blessed are those who are persecuted for his name's sake righteousness sake for their's is the Kingdom of Heaven blessed are ye when men shall revile you persecute you say all manner of evil against you falsely for my sake but Rejoice be exceeding glad for great is your reward in heaven for so persecuted they the prophets which were before you you ever start feeling down and out and like the whole world's against you whatever I challenge you go pick up your Bible and read about Ezekiel read about Jeremiah read about one of the old prophets and what they went through huh and what you'll discover is they were men they were human as well but yet they understood if if if we can just stay the course stay the promise hold on to the Future that God has for us

I'll close with this and and folk will start coming in when if we were to go back and and do a study on for an example the walls of Jericho that's a cool study they talk about in Sunday school sing songs about it the actual walls of Jericho you realize was not the issue they had already walked for how long I mean they had already seen the hand of God right now they're facing this challenge of can we trust God through this and then they begin to discover you know what if we simply listen to the law listen to The Promise listen to what we are told that God spoke through the man of God to us and when Joshua said guys we're going to walk right now but don't say a word they had to submit and Obey that why because they knew their future depended on the persecution they were going to f face if they didn't do what God was leading them to do

stand with me would you please I challenge you tonight pray take time for prayer inside that says Lord I want to understand the future of where you're leading me as an individual and Lord if if I need to make some choices God in the future give me the strength and courage I need to do so I'm not telling you go run to persecution and ask somebody can you smack me side the head and say stop no I'm saying when life is unfolding guys I am convinced we're going to be put into some situations that we're going to have to figure out are we really truly going to trust the hand of God let's pray for that right now Lord we love you come on lift your hands to the Lord Lord I believe in you and I honor and trust you I thank you Jesus for your grace and your love your mercy thank you Jesus for the blessing blessed are those I thank you Lord for the promise of your blessing I thank you Lord for the grace and mercy you've shown to us Lord only you know God where we are what we're facing what we're going through you know the future you know the open doors of opportunity I love you I trust trust you I bless your name I honor you right now I give you all the glory and I'm going to trust you God in all of life's situations come on somebody love him for a moment Lord I believe in the power of the spirit I believe your name is greater than anything and if I'll Trust your name if I'll hold to Your Name Lord if I'll serve you God and the power Lord that you have for my life I know God there are blessings and promises that you desire to give the church you desire to give us as individuals come on somebody take some time to love him I love you Jesus I Believe In You Jesus let God arise let my enemy be scattered let the name of the Lord God be lifted up and exalted in my life help me Lord to focus on what you're doing God on on who you are Lord on on how you're doing things today don't let me be distracted left or right but help me Lord to stay true to your word God and your promises oh come on somebody love him it's a Wednesday night it's a great time to serve him and to worship His name and to lift him up you are the great God you've got us Lord in your hand we're going to follow you we're going to purs Pur Su you we're going to hunger for you Lord Jesus whatever it costs God we're going to run after you Lord you are on our minds you are God what we desire come on somebody love him lift your voice to him before we sing before we get into our worship time let's serve him together right now with worship I love you Lord I love you Lord I love you Lord You Are God Alone you Are God Alone you are great God you are greatly to be praised you are worthy Lord come on that's right fill your mouth with a praise offer it to the Lord I give you praise right now you are the prayer answering God you are on the throne exalted Give the Lord a hand clap of Praise together come on give the Lord a hand clap of Praise together
