get a hold of somebody right now let's pray one for another as we go into the word jesus we are thankful dear god for your mercy and love and grace right now we bind together lord in love asking you god to move in our hearts and our lives let the word lord do its work in our lives today i pray in the name of jesus great god i make myself available to you one more time lord i desperately need you jesus help us oh god lead us jesus let truth prevail in our lives today lord let us believe the truth of the word of god let us believe faith today is enough to reach you jesus to get a hold of you jesus in the name in the name in the name in the name in the name oh come on somebody love jesus i'm believing you for it lord i'm trusting you for it jesus hallelujah hallelujah hallelujah hallelujah hallelujah somebody say in jesus name come on in jesus name in jesus name in jesus name spirit of the lord is working the word of the lord is powerful enough to work through all circumstances so glad you're here today because the lord is most definitely working in this room we have sung songs we have prayed we have lifted our hands we've lifted our voices unto the lord listen carefully to pastor that is exactly what the church does we believe faith says yes we yield we submit we give god honor and glory and the spirit of the lord works the spirit of the lord does things that the flesh can't do won't do doesn't have the capacity to do but the spirit can the spirit can speak expressly to things so where we are at this moment to all of our teachers to all of our staff working in parking lots and in the front musicians and singers everybody's in tune with what god's doing now we get to the word of the lord and i don't mind saying off times as pastor i i want to make sure that god i'm following you but and and if ever before i i know that god is here right now confirming affirming and doing in our lives would you give the lord a handclap of praise today before you sit down just lord i thank you come on somebody come on somebody he's worthy of it i thank you jesus i love you jesus you are great god and greatly to be praised again to all of you involved in the things of cornerstone i thank you so much from my heart for your investment in the kingdom if you're a guest with us we're glad you're here if you're online new watching we're so honored you're here you can be seated if you feel like you need to for just a moment lord's not done it's okay it's it's all right there's a word here history is a great thing it's a wonderful thing i i love history y'all know that i talk about it often i enjoy the details and i enjoy the specifics of historical accounts books movies stories tales whatever you want to call podcasts especially i enjoy history when i know that the stories are true more than false because there are both right we all know that sometimes historical events can be embellished how that there are times in the events the details they they kind of take different shape than when they they actually happen anybody understand about history like like when when your grandfather tells you that he caught a fish that was this big you might understand that what he meant was this but all we saw was that nonetheless history plays a vital role in our future the more we understand about the where and the why the more than we can apply those things to our future listen carefully one thing that i have noticed about the old stories is sometimes the people that are in those old tales if you will can seem and almost appear non-human stay with me an example when the europeans loaded up on ships sailed across the open waters into the wild blue yonder leaving their homes and their businesses i wonder sometimes what in the world were they thinking why would those folk pick up everything about their history their past their family generations living on farms and places in those countries to set sail for some place that only god knew where they would end up i wonder sometimes were they truly in search of a better place or simply a different place how is that even remotely smart are you with me today you understand history parents in this room if you're a parent in this room wave your hand you understand them as being a parent that there are things that you want for your children and that you want them to be taken care of is that right what would you do today parents if your child came to you and said hey dad hey mom uh tomorrow i'm leaving for a place that i've never seen before you guys don't know anything about it you don't even know really anything about the journey and the truth is is i don't know what to expect if i'll make it or not i might die of scurvy or some other sickness or something other thing that i can't spell or even name yeah the mom dad listen i know and we're gonna be leaving the house that grandpa built we're gonna we're gonna go out into the into the deep if you will and and i'll tell you what dad if you don't mind swing by next week feed the dog i'm sure he would appreciate it sounds kind of foolish does it not yet history declares that these accounts were played out in people's lives as a father of course i would stand there and i would say okay tell me about this place and they would simply as your children they would want to sound like they knew what they were talking about well we don't really know except that most people die on the journey oh and by the way food scarce and they have something there that we hear tell called indians i mean come on what were these guys thinking but our history books are full of these stories just like that one i know they don't go through those details because they have to fill pages but the fact of the matter is simply this people launched out into the unknown wanting something more desiring something greater different than where they were and i'm here to tell you that's why i love history i i am drawn to the capabilities and the possibilities of humanity i am amazed at the accomplishments of people who simply were doing what they were compelled to do feeling like they were being drawn into something therefore they went into it in the process during the journey life unfolding and somehow some way they literally changed the world the founding of jamestown there's no way you could really understand what they were thinking plymouth rock when they stepped on that land there's no way we could truly comprehend what they were thinking when the city of new york was being built there's no way that we could understand what they were thinking the gold rush the wild west the louisiana purchase the trail of tears history unfolds itself those are just a few of the historical accounts that you and i can read about today and they're in our history books telling us that these stories are worth remembering history now as amazed as we might be about that listen to pastor very carefully the people that i'm mentioning to you that were in these stories in their lifetimes they would be just like you and i common folk doing common things these people though i have to understand and i have to grasp within my mind is they were going somewhere from some place or from someone maybe they were running to a place for the sake of fulfilling the desire that was in their heart maybe we never know why that they began to set out or set sail i wonder sometimes what in the world was alexander graham bell thinking what were these guys eli whitney what was on his mind these guys that literally changed and formed our world that we live in today they were people with normal lives but they found themselves in situations that demanded something else something different what i see in many of these accounts and these stories is that those humans as much as you and i understand more about them today as we study the difference is very clear there is something friend that i've come today to talk about that's been rolling over in my mind and in my spirit for the last several days and that is simply what the old-timers would call moxie moxie they possess something that would hurl them into unknown parts something that was more powerful that was enough to establish the events that they were in and they would shape the future of humanity genesis chapter six let me give you an example verse number seven the lord said i will destroy man whom i have created from the face of the earth both man and beast and the creeping thing and the fowls of the air for it repenteth me that i have made them but the bible said in verse 8 but noah found grace in the eyes of the lord noah living a life that was common to everyone else living a life that was day in the same oh but god came and had a plan and a purpose i come to tell you that the hundred plus years that noah was building a boat he was a man that would have to be full of moxie exodus chapter 3 verse number 4 and when the lord saw that he turned aside to see god called unto him out of the midst of the bush and said moses moses he said here am i and he said listen to this draw now nigh hither put off thy shoes from up thy feet for the place whereon thy standeth is holy ground moreover he said in verse 6 i am the god of thy father the god of abraham and god of isaac the god of jacob and moses hid his face for he was afraid to look upon god hear this moses was drawn from the water after his mother tried to save his life he grew up in pharaoh's house but god had a history and a plan for him i'm sure moses did not understand it he was simply living life but in the midst of that god said i've got something for you you're going to deliver my people from the hand of the egyptians moses had to possess something that allowed him to move from that place into the next place i've come to tell you the word we're looking for is moxie judges chapter 6 verse 11 there came an angel of the lord sat under an oak which was in oprah that pertains to josh joash the abhisite and upon gideon there you heard it earlier thrashed wheat there the wine press to hide from the midianites angel lord appeared unto him and said the lord is with thee thou mighty man of valor gideon said unto him oh my lord if the lord be with us wise then has this befallen us and where be all his miracles which our fathers told of us told us of saying did not the lord bring us up out from egypt but now the lord had forsaken us and delivered us in the hands of the midianites gideon was simply trying to live fear was upon him the enemy was going to destroy him his family needed to eat though so therefore he was trying to bring food home but something happened in the heart of gideon to decide that when the angel spoke to him he would have to rise up to an occasion to be able to say you know what i'm not sure how this will turn out i'm living life day in and day out but i've come to declare to somebody today that what he held was moxie i realize that time will not allow me to give you all of the examples in the word of the lord but i stand here today with one word for this generation at cornerstone apostolic church right now at this day i pray somehow that we would develop as a church a moxie what are you talking about preacher allow me a moment to tell you what that simply means is a moxie by definition is determination courage and know-how in the culture in which we live today people are so wishy-washy influences and influencers are speaking to the crowds every day swaying people from one side to the other i pray that a generation of somebody would stand and recognize the fact if god is going to have a church in this hour i've got to have moxie i've got to have self-determination i'm not about to be swayed by the hand of the enemy by the lies of the devil my children will pray through in an altar my backslidden kids will come home to know god why because i'm determined i'm going to do what the lord god wants me to do i'll turn the three people close to you ask them do you have moxie i pray that our church would recognize in this hour that you can still believe in an old rugged cross i pray that the church of 2022 hear this would develop a backbone that will develop the ability and the desire to say i know that the media i realize that hollywood i realize that our leadership in our nation and in our cities around the globe or having a child listen carefully to pastor would you i love you and i want you to understand something in this day many times we give the enemy so much credit for things that he has nothing to do with listen to preacher he simply takes what's been done twisted and pushes it back and then you have to decide did not god say or did god say the fear of the enemy that comes upon you is the fact that many times we're not sure and we fail sometimes to recall what the word of the lord says and we allow the lies of our lives to overtake us because of our faults and our failures and instead of simply standing and saying you know what the cross of calvary was enough for me i've got moxie to say i am determined to stand regardless of what anybody says or what anyone does to try to thwart me from the place called heaven listen to the preacher for just a moment longer please in the generation in which we're living i am watching with my own eyes i am witnessing with my own eyes and my own ears that the culture and generation in which we in is swaying some of us to one side or another what used to be so determined within ourselves and established within ourselves we will not go that way we will not follow that lie we will not listen to that unbelief we are now embracing the fact that we're all going to be all right friend of mine i don't care what the enemy says we're not all going to heaven that is not what heaven was developed and made for i don't care what any kind of religion tries to say contrary to the word of god we are not all going to walk on heaven streets of gold i wish to god that none would perish that's what it says but people got to make choices and the fact of the matter in the age in which we live if you don't have the moxie and the self-determination to say you know what here's the fact of the matter if you're not holy it ain't gonna happen if you're not baptized in the name of jesus christ for the remission of your sins it ain't going to happen if you're not full of the holy ghost evidence is speaking in tongues as it comes it's not going to happen you're not going to sashay into heaven with all your sin and all your lies and simply bring them and say god you're going to have to tolerate me for who i am you'll never see that word in the scripture you want to know why there's a judgment day one day it's because we will have v1 with the books and the evil listen to me i am not this is not hate speech although many would call it that i'm not being mean or mad some would say that but you listen to this preacher today never in the history of time has there ever been a time when those who were going to make a difference in the future didn't have to stand for something that no one else wanted noah did not build an ark to save the world he built an ark for the saving of his family that's all in fact the sin came up and the stench was so bad that god had to turn around from it it repented god the children of israel were in bondage in egypt because they went there for a purpose only to find out 400 years later man this is horrible this is terrible and what did they say what was the first words out of their mouths when they got out of egypt and started out across the plain and you brought us out here for us to die they were swayed with the opinion of what the enemy was lying to them about i stand in this platform today i rise to this podium today to declare to this church we will stand for jesus christ him crucified on a cross we cannot rewrite history in the fact that jesus died on a cross for all of humanity but what we can do in this hour is make the decision as hard as it might be listen to my friend if you walk the way of the devil you're going to end up with a life in the future of the devil but if you'll make a decision love god serve him fear him follow his commandments do the things that god's the word of god is teaching you then you can establish yourself upon the rock christ jesus so much of what's going on in our day is causing church folk you know good old church folk to walk away from things that used to hold so familiar here's a question i'll ask you i'm not asking for a show of hands in a group this size when the going gets tough how many will give in to the pressures of the crowd see i i tell people this often and i know that i'm the old fuddy dud guy but if given the chance to go to church or not what's your choice is it even a decision when given the opportunity to get closer to god or to obtain something that you've been wanting for so long what is your decision pastor you know that i have to work and my job is very important because i got to provide for my family i agree 100 i make that same decision every day but you need to realize something friend there are some things on earth that will not make it to heaven and your job is one of them your job i realize is a means to an end somebody say amen puts food on the table i mean you're thankful for the jobs you have for the wisdom and the knowledge to be able to do it come on wave your hand thank you lord thank you lord that better not be your boss that better not be your boss because if your job is your boss listen to me if your job is your boss leading you guess what your vacation time is limited to three or four weeks a year but if your boss is jesus christ eternity looks like forever don't be surprised when you're standing before the judgment and he looks at you and said i didn't even know you because you didn't spend time with me now wait a minute didn't i and this didn't i and that didn't i yeah but it was my name that you were using it has nothing to do with you coming here but we want to say to one another god help me to be holy today help me god to be on the right track we want to declare with ourselves and with those around us listen as long as we can just have a relationship with god that's all that matters i agree but you better not go contrary to the word of the lord forsake not the assembling of yourselves together i fear sometimes in our culture that online has taken the place of that listen friend you can sit at home in your jammies all day and watch church and drink your coffee your coke and your popcorn but i promise you it is not the same as the glory of the lord that breathes into this room there are times yes that i gotta watch online that's true but it better not be the normal it better be the exemption to that hear what i'm saying today when the preacher stands at this pulpit whether it's me or anyone else and the declaration is made you better already have made up in your mind god if you're gonna move today it's gonna be because i glorify you and i invite your presence into this room pastor you're being hard today you better believe it i'm so mad at the devil because he's lying to some of you he is lying to some of you and some of you are listening and bending your ear to it in this culture in this generation the most dangerous thing that's happened in 2020s is what we call the simple covet huh anybody affected by covid yeah i've had it thought i was dying probably could have and i would have never known still out there today that old covenant thriller anybody see him around yeah he's still sticking his head up some y'all know i'm talking about but what transpired in that transaction was simply this fear of the unknown began to happen and now out of convenience we begin to say to ourselves you know what we need to separate ourselves from people and that's exactly what needed to happen for some of us to turn loose of what we once truly held close to our hearts i have yes i have don't tell me that i don't know what i'm talking about i have in my lifetime had to give up jobs that were paying six figures because it was going to take me out of the house of god and i refused no different to anybody else what'd you do i took another job was it blessed did you make money i'm still here listen i tell every single one of y'all out here every all these young i ask them what you're doing with their lives you know what i'm going to do this i'm going to get a job yeah get you a job i'm telling you i'm telling you in this culture you can start in by washing dishes at a restaurant making 12 bucks an hour you tell me if i'm lying and you say well i'm better than that fine stay on the job for three weeks and you'll own that restaurant am i am i lying why because folk are unplugging from reality and trying to make it on their own and trying to realize that everybody else needs to take care of me you better listen to this preacher today if i'm going to depend on your prayers to save my soul i'm going to hell i'm the one that's going to pray for me god i need you right now i need the glory of the lord in my life i can't let somebody else pray for me now i'm glad when they do and i'm thankful when they pray for me but you know something this battle is mine this war within it's me i've got to come to realization of who god is and what his desire is for my life i can't sit with the pen church would you pray for me no i've got to get up under the spout where the holy ghost is coming out and i've got to make a determination do i have the boxing to say i don't know what's out there but i refuse to give up on god i refuse to give up on the church i refuse to give up on the promises of the word of god i will stand true to the gospel of jesus christ i will live a holy life acceptable to the eyes of god holiness is not determined by me it's determined by him and my reflection of him speaking in tongues is still necessary to walk on the streets of glory baptism in the name of jesus christ is still the way it never stopped it never changed repentance still is the power of turning you around in your mess sit down a minute you're taking up my time god help us today to have moxie determination know how great to hang on to you listen to me carefully do not be surprised that in this hour such an onslaught has happened this is what i'm i'm waking up to the realization of y'all with me for a moment longer i know it's getting late and it's hot and i'm sweating too i'm realizing in this hour that there's a whole lot of good people in our world trying and living life and living and loving and just doing agreed i agree they are some of you work with some of the finest people i hear you talking man they're just they're just help they just do they're just positive they're always there good people i declare to you nowhere in the word of god does it say good people will go to heaven nowhere no place i'm not i don't have to judge them i simply read the word how will they know if they'll make it they will know by the word of your testimony and the blood of jesus that's applied to your life what happened in matthew listen to this jesus knew exactly what was going to transpire with humanity 10 22 of matthew and ye shall be hated of all men why for my name's sake you see this i get i get to be in a whole bunch of churches i do because of the work that i do and the systems i put in is i got to be in a whole lot of different flavors of churches i do it's very intriguing to me to see how they do and interact some of them they dig wells in africa they do haiti stuff they do all kind of stuff that's humanitarian and i applaud them for that i do because that's so important to help people how many know that's important i see others and i come and i say you know this is neat what are you guys doing and they say you know we're going to do this and we've got this program going we're feeding the hungry we're taking care of the homeless and and on and on and i applaud that because that kind of stuff needs to happen doesn't it but nowhere in what they're telling me many times has the name of jesus and in fact if the discussion or if the conversation ever gets to the name of jesus i already see the wall comes up and i wonder about that why why how is it that somebody can believe in father son and holy ghost and they could follow that and pursue that and with all diligence grab their arms around it and so forth but then when i stand there and i say hey will you bless the food we're gonna eat they say yeah god thank you for this food bless it in jesus name i go wait a minute why would you say that you just confused yourself and then they'll know his haul in the name of jesus thank you i don't have to argue that i don't have to point to that i simply say you're the one that said that so the next question is then why would you use father son and holy i'm not i'm just telling you life today we can be so easily swayed to think you know what it's all okay because we're all god's children and we're all going to the same heaven and that's not at any place written in the word what do we do to be saved repenting your sins be baptized every one of you in the name of jesus christ for the remission of those sins and you shall receive the gift of the holy ghost that promise is for you your children everybody way out there that's the promise and so then the question comes up what is the holy ghost do you receive that when you believe fine you believe it if you want to but if you don't have the evidence then what i can believe all day long you're a multi-bajillionaire but until i see the goods i don't see any evidence am i too simple here's the fact that i'm coming to a close in our culture and in our day i admonish you i am reaching for the church we don't have to be mean mean-spirited angry mad or upset we simply have to have moxie self-determination world you do what you're going to do because i already know the future of the world and one thing that old-timers taught me was simply this this world is not my home i'm just passing through my treasures are laid up oh y'all know that one y'all y'all remember that one uh y'all y'all remember that one yeah yeah then why are we wrapped ourselves and entangled ourselves so much in the things of this world when all the while it's not our home the angels beckoned me from heaven's what open door i can't feel at home in this oh lord you know i have no friend like you if heaven's not my home then lord what oh come on somebody oh lord you know that i have no friend like you oh pastor that's old stuff old stuff come on we need to sing something a little more modern this is how i fight my battle how don't tell me this is how show me this is how i'm just saying i know i'm an old fella in a young world but you listen to me heaven is still heaven hell is still hell i'm going there i don't want to go there i've got to determine within myself i will pray at home i will pray on the job i'll pray at the restaurant i'll call on the name of the lord god midnight day whatever it is why because jesus christ is the answer for our world y'all stand with me come on i'll give you some false hope for a moment this past couple of weeks darrell oh isaac back to raise your hand i just been helping me on the job man i get so mad at him i said dude you didn't know how to do all this he just looks at me he does blink we climb in the truck take off for work what's the first thing we do what say it loud why i don't know where i'm going if i don't praise mr stacy anything will happen we sit down with food on the table what's the first thing we do why i tell them i don't know who's in that kitchen i pray at home to practice for there listen to pastor i am so sincere today i am reaching for some of you because you are on the precipice of a decision and a choice that's going to drop you off the edge and you're going to begin to self apply things in your life to how you know what i i know that it was important to grandma but this is a new generation and you know what we don't do the things like that no more we we've come on we've come a long way from that no friend some of y'all i know and again i'm on metal for a minute but that's what a pastor does sometimes some of y'all think well because pastor didn't say i couldn't then i'm going to do it until he says i can't you're waiting on pastor to give you a list of rules you have missed the entire purpose of the the cross of calvary has all the power if you believe any other doctrine that any foolish man would try to preach or teach you listen to me you have rewritten the purpose of the blood of jesus i wouldn't take that on for nothing in this world it was his plan from the foundation not yours you cannot justify sin you can't listen to me you cannot justify disobedience to the word and some in this room some watching online perhaps right now you've begun to dabble in the things that you have no idea what you're about to do because as far as you're concerned you love god you come to church therefore everything ought to be good you listen to this preacher i'm reaching for you when you start giving up on the things of god and you start stepping a little closer to the things of the world and you establish within yourself what's the harm in a little makeup or what's the harm in nail polish or what's the harm in wearing shorts or what's the harming little trim here or there what's the harm in hair here or there what you're doing now is you're trying to qualify things that you have no way to stop because you didn't originated the lie of the enemy did and now how are you going to stand before god your parents listen to me you have every right to help your children with this i'm going to ask my kids i know i talk about them all the time it's only two i got i'd look him right in the eye and say you are not going to act that way in this home but dad you better be quiet right now open that thing again and i would tell them until you have convictions that god gives you you're going to live by mine is that fair you better believe it because i'm stepping into hell and i'm snatching them out of there i don't want to have to go down to a jail cell and bail them out instead i'd rather get them out of their bed and throw them on the floor get a ahold of god why get some moxie in yourself to say you know what my friends can do what they want they can go there they can go participate in that and it might not kill them but as for me and my house we're going to serve the lord again i know we're in a different generation different culture and what this world is doing is very slowly and gently trying to rock the church to sleep if we can just get the church to be quiet if we could just get him silent they'll begin to make really dumb choices and mistakes and they'll stand there after and go what do you mean you'll be hated of all men for my name's sake listen to this but he that endureth to the end will be saved moxie grit determination god i pray this day that you would grant us what we need to take a stand and no matter what happens let us stand for the truth of your word and the promises in your word i want to invite every single person man woman and child in this room to this altar right now for a time of prayer for a season of prayer some of you are on the on the on the outskirts saying you know what i'm going to make this decision i'm going to make this choice and i don't think it's a bad one i'm just going to you know it's gonna be all right and there ain't nobody gonna say nothing to me because i'm old enough to make my own decisions that's right you listen to this preacher you'll give an account for that you will give an answer for that brother drawn's going to play and sing something i want every voice in here to be lifted to heaven right now god help us lord to understand where we are in this day god help us today to have the determination and the grit to make some tough choices but to stand for the word and for the truth of the word i pray right now for every man woman and child in this place watching online wherever they are that some kind of power and authority and anointing would sweep into the life of every single one of us so that we would determine you know what we are not going to lose out to the stuff of this world and we're going to make some tough choices but we are going to serve the lord we are going to trust the lord we are going to pray we are going to read the word we are going to make some decisions that some folk are not going to understand we are going to declare the whole counsel of the lord god in the word of god god grant us the moxie we need the determination to say we will make heaven our home we will walk on streets of gold we will hear you say well done oh come on somebody pray right now that's right mom and dad pray for your children that's right come on children pray for your mom and dad bind together right now let the power of the word of god work in your life come on me and pray god help me to make right choices for my families help me god let me have personal convictions lord that'll drive me to an altar of prayer oh come on somebody come on men if your family's going to be saved it's going to be because you're praying with them because you're investing in them because you're pleading the blood of jesus over them come on me and pray yeah in the name of jesus oh come on let's write me and pray i rebuked the enemy that's trying to blind my children i rebuke the hand of the enemy that's trying to lie to my families devil you're a liar keep your hands off of my family come on somebody pray right now fight that battle in the name of jesus there is victory there is victory there is victory there is victory there is victory there is victory there is victory come on me and pray in the name of jesus christ in the name of jesus in the name of jesus that's right that's right that's right get ahold of god cry out to him lift your voice to him jesus i need you jesus i need you jesus i'm nothing without you oh god i need you in my family i need you in my home i need you god and my children oh that's right come on pray come on mom pray intercede for your children intercede for your babies today the name of jesus in the name of jesus come on that's right pray come on pray get ahold of god i'll help me have the determination to make tough choices to make honest choices lord jesus give me the great lord that i need like the old-timers had lord oh god help me to understand god of glory give me the energy that i need lord to live the life that is pleasing to you hell yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah i need your lord i need you jesus i trust you jesus yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah anybody want to go to heaven one day yeah that's me come on anybody want to make heaven your home yes yes lord yes lord yes lord yes lord on the outset of this message i spoke about history spoke about those who sold everything as an example that came to this country not really knowing what was going to happen how it was going to happen what was going to transpire they simply determined you know what i'm going to do this because this is what's drawing me right does anybody here even know what heaven looks like come on anybody well it's streets of gold fine what's that look like and that's that's transparent glass where i find what's that look like gates are pearl one pearl well wait wait i don't know that i've seen more you realize you know what i need to be smarter i need to understand a little more about what the possibilities are if i'm going to make heaven i have to establish within myself you know what i'm going to stand for god because things have a way of changing very quickly hear me if i listen to the lie of the enemy long enough it will become truth to me i pray i prayed this this morning when i put the last period on this message god let our church have a determination that regardless of what happens in the world outside we will stand for truth does anybody here know the next step for cornerstone apostolic church you don't know what we're going to do next i don't have a clue i got a whole lot of stuff cooking out there in my brain and my spirit i'm just not sure how to rein it in
