Our Father

pray with me church lord we love you and we bless your name right now we have come together in this room to bless you we have sung the songs god we have prayed we have lifted our voices we have exalted your name but right now lord we need the power of your word to touch and change our hearts once again lord i make myself available to you i need you jesus i love you jesus and i trust you god for all things you are god you're exalted and you're perfectly in control today you are in control today in the name in the name in the name of jesus oh somebody shout yes come on shout yes jesus i need you and i love you today praise god forever thank you to our singers and our musicians thank you to our workers volunteers helpers thank you for your attention to details amen thank you for being willing to to be adaptable yeah to be adaptable okay what does that mean i don't know come to church next week we'll see what we got to work with and i'll show you hallelujah thank you to this church for your kindness always to myself to my wife i love you all you may be seated in the presence of the lord it's father's day today i wish all of you fathers a happy father's day i'm honored to be a dad i am i i'm honored now the the father's day celebration as we know it was first done in the state of washington 19 and 10. it was a day that they celebrated the father's contribution to society now it wasn't until the 70s that it was made a national holiday but i i know that the holiday of mother's day men allow me a moment here it's not the same because moms by nature they are they're more sentimental right you can you can give a a handmade gift to a mother and she just thinks that's the coolest thing right and and for some reason kids grow up thinking dads are the same it's not true though that that real nice ugly tie didn't mean a hole or that that that vase that's crooked and you know what i'm saying it's just different let me know what i'm talking about all the wives are saying well he ought to just love you i'll just appreciate it because you do but men are different right herb would you prefer a hamburger or would you prefer uh don't never mind oh here we see we've got food see men like that now here's the truth that the day of father's day is celebrated with a different kind of enthusiasm all right much like mother's day again we we are here today to honor the fathers that have had an impact in our lives that have made a difference in our life they've influenced us in so many ways there if you go to the dictionary definition of fathers there's a whole stack it's not simply the guy that was there to buy your shoes for school but a father figure there's father that they call people religious folk in churches there's on and on you can just have an influence on on somebody's life as a man and they can consider you to be a father figure in their life happy father's day to all of you fathers in here i love you and i'm thankful for your investment in the kingdom of god now as we come today we gather here to worship the lord jesus christ aren't you thankful and we're reminded that as men we worship him because we need him amen we need the lord jesus christ dad every time you walk into the church house you are making a difference in our world hear me now every time that people see the energy and the effort that you put forth as you gather in this place to worship the lord god you need to know something you are investing in their lives amen imagine if you will our world without the influence of a father imagine what we would be like in our world without the positive impact that a father can have now hear me we're 2021 and there's a whole lot of fatherhood of being a father of what a father really means there's a whole lot of that that our society has skewed and given a bad rap to if you will in fact uh the truth is is that when a father helps the child when a father is that father image to a child we know that that child has a better chance of becoming something and making a positive impact on society you can read about in fact just this morning early i read a little bit about just to figure out what does our world see about them they'll tell you that you a a lady a mother a mom can give birth to a child and that child can grow and learn and grow up and so forth and be very positive in on the world and and all of those things but if you add the touch or the impact of a father and the mother together to that child that child by it just by the numbers by the homework done by the data by the graphs and the charts you can read that child becomes a better person in society because it has the influence of a father and a mother in its life if you remove a mother's touch from a child's life i think you're we can all agree that you can see the difference in that child can't you but the same is true with a father's presence we know that a mother's role and a father's role in the home is different is that true is that true yeah that's true we know that a mom deals with children in a different way than a father dealing with children in a way now make no mistake when a father can have an impact on his children and a child's friends and the group that they hang around with it will make a difference in those children that will last a lifetime now i could spend today a lot of time looking into the historical stories if you will of fathers that have had an impact on children in fact i could there's a lot of information out there about the role of a father for an example in animals you realize that in the animal kingdom there's no such thing as a father there's a male figure or there's a male gender in their lives but stay with me a moment this is very intriguing do you realize that a bear family everybody say a bear what's a bear say rar that's with several r's and an a rar a bear family that the father of that cub once the cub is born that male bear will leave that female bear with that cub listen to this do you know why because this is the nature of a male bear to destroy and devour the cub that male does not want that cubs influence over the female to have an impact on it and time and again by nature if that male bear stays close to them he will kill that cub now how many want to be a bear it's fact stay with me stay with me another example for an example another is a father of dogs let's just call it a dog daddy is that all right that that when when the puppies of a litter are born technically the father has no role in the growth of those little ones it is the the female caller the mama dog that takes care of that litter understand very quickly you can remove a dog a puppy from its mother and what happens anybody who ever had a puppy in their house that was like eight nine weeks old whatever what does that puppy do the first few nights what's he doing what's that puppy doing it's all new it's all whoop whoop yeah you know what right well like when my kids wanted an animal i'd say wait a minute who's not going to sleep a week because it's for certain that child's not going to crawl out of bed and walk in there and say it's always me walking you're doing this again i was just in here three minutes ago listen because the lights go out does not mean the world's ended wait i'll be back eight hours right here they don't get it what are they doing hang on to me today hang on it's father's day i got a minute here what they're doing is they are trying to figure out life because the fact of the matter is at about eight weeks what do you do with a puppy you remove it from the mom and you give it to somebody and they travel a million miles away and that connection's not there you can never i'll never ask pike how's your daddy he won't know and boy don't my wife knows that when i take him to get his shots or with the vet or something well dad are you here to pick him up pick who up well this is your name daddy the thing about me looks like that well stay with me as humans as humans we study the life of the animal kingdom and what has happened stay with me what has happened is the one thing that disney has done to our culture is it has skewed our understanding of animals and for some reason we tend to think that animals ought to be the same same as humans hang on to me disney makes movies all the time and what do we see we see this daddy bear and his mama bear and these baby bears and they're called the bernstein bears and it's all just there the dad's got on pants and her shirt the mom's got on a dress and her hair is piled up that ain't at all the way it happens so what happens is our kids grow up and they think that the life of humans is the same as animals and that's why that babies and children if you will they don't like to see animals hurt because they don't get it they think boy they're just all my daughter she was the worst she'd see a dog on the side of the road and my lord if it was up to her we found a duck one time had one leg where's his mom she left him nagging out with one leg daddy that's so mean no it's true do you want a one leg a duck she said what we could take you home and put him in a pool and watch it do what we got one leg baby that duck's staying in that pond let's get in the car stay with me well but we we humanize we try to humanize the animal kingdom and end it all that way and i don't know about you but i'm thankful i don't want to have to growl over these men when it comes to a sandwich plate on a sunday some of these men are pushing me back biting my arm trying to go i just wanted to send you here stay with me on this father's day listen i come today to tell all of you fathers that you are valued listen to me i don't care what disney says i don't care what hollywood try i don't care what pictures trying to pay you have value i wish you'd look it right now at somebody close to you tell a dad close to you you mean something to me come on you mean more to me than a horse or a bear or a dog or a one-legged duck listen to me you mean more to me than any of that in 2020 we need all the fathers that we can at this hour to truly stand to the occasion and recognize the fact god put me on this earth with a purpose and that is to be a positive influence on anybody that i come in contact with it don't have to be somebody that sleeps in my house every night as my child but as brother gibson mentioned earlier i can speak to one of these other children and they better no be on a shadow of any doubt if any devil comes after them pastors going to be standing there saying back away this is not your child this is a child of the king hang on to me a father will defend and will protect his family all you dad's in here same man that's right a man will identify with the ability to say if you're coming after my family i'm not about to back down you better not come through that door because you know what's about to meet you here i got a 12 and a 20 and a nine any of them will work and my wife says baby i got a ball back standing in the corner now i get nervous sometimes about the ball bat in the corner cause she keeps it next to the bed there and i'm oh lord if i come in and she's had a bad dream anyway stay with me to all of you fathers in this room today i have one thing that i'm going to require of you and i'm going to admonish you you need to be strong and fight on you need to be strong and courageous and fight on you need to realize and recognize you're making a difference in your children you're making a difference in your babies you're making a difference in the next generation what you're doing matters in the kingdom of god don't be sidetracked with what this world is trying to paint you to be but rise above it and declare i'm a blood-bought child of god i got good feet and good hands i'm gonna be a worshiper if nobody else worships i'm gonna be a lover of my god if nobody else is regardless of the situation i am a father and my children need to see me as a dad in their lives now hang on to me allow me a moment today to bring a little bit of emphasis into a powerful event that transpired we can see in your our bibles the lives of great men and women right you're going to study about them you can you can read about them the old testament for an example through and through gives us so many incredible men dads fathers prophets and judges prayer warriors defenders of their families and their faith we see in the old writings for an example that these men were warriors i mean how many old testament stories do you read about and they took up arms and they went to battle and they fought and they defended and they took back and they stood how many stories you read about that how they said you're not about to get what god's given me but they went and they took it back we see in these old writings that when a battle came it was the men that would stand up they would drop down if you will their shovels and their their their picks and their rakes they would turn loose of the blacksmith hammer and they would go grab their arms and they would decide mama i'll be back in a bit babies you better listen to her while i'm gone and they would take to the battlefield many times uncertain and unsure if they would return but they knew at that moment that defending and protecting what god's given me has more value than me staying here and trying to negotiate with the enemy come on working hard and providing for our families even if we see from the creation of man what god told us to do genesis chapter three you got a bible it's there it's old testament stuff verse 17 god is speaking god and unto adam he said because thou hast hearkened unto the voice of thy wife and that's eaten of the tree of which i commanded thee saying thou shalt not eat of it cursed is the ground for thy sake hmm in sorrow shalt thou eat of it all the days of thy life verse 18 thorns also and thistle shall it bring forth to thee and thou shalt eat of the herb of the field and in the sweat of thy face shalt thou eat bread till thou return unto the ground for out of it was thou taken for dust thou art and unto dust thou shalt thou return it was god's command hear this it was god's command that caused man to have to work and to till and to toil and to provide for the family it was because listen to it that's the ground the earth and what it does god put everything right that was needed in the soil he brought out of the dirt that he had spoke into existence the seed the herb yielding seed and those things would come out and they would produce and according to god's plan it had a purpose but knowing that when god said eve you're going to feel childbirth you're going to me you're going to the death door you're going to go all the way there but come back but you'll never you'll never really realize the power that is in you but to you men to you men you need to understand something you're going to have to be a worker you're going to have to be somebody that invests time effort and energy into things that that maybe you don't like you know what i really didn't care much for the time that that my son had to have braces on his teeth but we just rolled up our sleeves and said if it's going to happen it's going to cost this and and here we go and we work and we do and we make sure that they got it otherwise they'd look really bad with half braces on never mind the process is this listen to me if you're going to have anything in life men the greatest lesson you young men listen to pastor for a moment the greatest lesson you'll ever realize is the value of a hard day's work you listen to me if you're expecting any moment for you to simply walk and sashay yourself into life and receive everything at your bidding it's going to be a hard life for you to live but if you'll realize the value of hard work listen when somebody comes say we're going to do all this that's right and i ain't going to get paid that much you better believe it and that's all that's right but one thing i promise you if you'll invest a hard day's work when your head hits the pillow at night you can breathe a sigh of relief and you can say i'm exhausted and i'm tired but i gave it all i could i gave it everything i could i know i need more but i've done what i've done for this day i'm not going to worry and fret i'm simply going to do what i do because it's the right thing to do told somebody recently i was working on a job and where he was complaining about other guys and they don't do and so forth and i just simply looked at him and said you understand something dude i don't work here because of you i don't work for you i don't work for me i don't do this because somebody's going to pay me a paycheck i don't do this because i need to clock in or clock out no i do what i do as unto the lord because the lord god's watching me i don't know the payday when it's going to happen but i do know this there is value in accepting what god gave man to do therefore i looked that man in the face and said i'm not doing what i do for you i do it as unto the lord that way i know this if i'm pleasing to him i'll be pleasing to you the problem comes is when we try to cut corners with him then if oh lord don't let me meddle today come on if you've got a job don't you dare be found sleeping in the back corner somewhere trying to get something over on somebody you give it a 100 you're representing the king of glory that needs to be the example that you set and when nobody else wants to work you need to be the one that says i will do it why because it's the right thing to do it's the right thing to do brother gibson and i work climbing around on this stuff my store today i still i refuse to be shut down and stopped now it's locked in position i'm joking well listen to me mom and dad you need to know something that little guy that little girl is watching you you want to know why these babies are up here in the altar jumping around and screaming is because they've seen somebody else up here jumping around and screaming you think they're playing they might be but they'll come a day when the holy ghost will smack them and say that's right i've said it once i'll say it a hundred times if your children are gonna be worshippers it's because you were a worshiper don't you expect by osmosis all right they'll get it all right they'll get it no they won't they'll go to sleep now i know that we're not all farmers aren't you glad you're not a farmer those guys man they get up the daybreak and they go to bed at daylight or days down sundown huh i mean winter time they got it made they get up at 10 and go to bed at two you know sun up sun now no i'm joking they work hard in the winter than in the summer but that's another story i realize that some of you fathers you don't even know how to plant a garden in fact if you had to plant the garden your family would be starving stand there going daddy and you'll be looking at the dirt going hmm dang a can of beans one come up out of that ground hmm huh am i telling truth you know i have people all the time do you even know how to skin a deer brother jerry why because it's cool ain't it no i'm joking anybody know how to clean a fish okay we'll go back like you only hear how to fish you know they sell books about this stuff how to build a fire okay honey we need matches stay with me stay with me i know that we're not all farmers i realize that some of us it's not in our culture today instead of planting if you will and instead of working the dirt and stuff it's easier to go to the store that's why we have vegetable stores and so i get that i do i understand but listen to me carefully please when it comes to supporting a family you have got to realize men that it is up to us as fathers to be the ones that will do the work now there's a hundred different types of work to do right a lot of different ways to do things if there's a store who's gonna attend the store if there's a store that's got goods in it who's gonna get the goods to the store if the store's got goods in it and they get to the store who's gonna make sure they get on the truck to the store you see all these things connect are you with me the fact of the matter is this that in our world the picture that our world has tried to paint a fatherhood has lost its necessity of simply doing the right thing according to the word of god but nothing can be further from the truth now more than ever before the principles of the scriptures have to be true they don't fail they don't falter they don't get boxed up and put on a shelf being a father is a wonderful investment it costs it takes time it takes energy it takes effort and i realize that in this place every father's day every mother's day on these national holidays when i come to the podium i have this balance in myself that i have to recognize because i know that some of you probably had terrible mothers some of you probably had terrible fathers and in the life in itself sometimes we got testimonies and witness of how bad things were and so forth and the truth is is some of you were abused some of you had had all these difficulties and challenges and these wrongs done to you i don't know i wasn't there for those things one thing i do know is this y'all hang on to for a minute when we understand the purpose of fatherhood according to the scriptures then regardless of what your past and what your family or what that uncle or what that family member did or that neighbor down the road did to you you can come into the house of the lord and you can truly understand fatherhood notice that you'll hear this notice that in the old testament scriptures this is very interesting that to refer to father is the not the same sense as it is in the new testament understand i don't know if you'll realize this or not but in the old testament father's not mentioned except the attachment to man it's not mentioned the father god it's not mentor because they didn't call him that he was called elohim he was called adonai he was called el shaddai and when you mentioned the names of who god was you understood that figure in your mind therefore moses could stand there and speak to his kids aaron could stand there and talk to the children any one of those guys could say this is what elohim has said to me and they would understand it because dad would relay the message to them that you know i know it took 110 years to build a boat because god spoke it to him and every time his boys started to raise up he'd look at him and say this is what el shaddai has said jehovah god has given us this and they'd look at their father and they'd say well if father says it evidently it's the right thing in our world of course 2021 well we need to negotiate this we need to talk about this i need a break from this is there any way i can just find this is there any way i can get away from that the fact is still the same when you jump into the new testament now you begin to find the word god our father heavenly father you begin to recognize that they begin to attach in the new testament meaning because it's in greek the father oh this is good hang on to me and when you understand that origin people are looking for that influence and many times uncertain of where to find it the reference that god has given old to new testament is this he's god his ultimate authority and his ultimate power one thing in our generation that drives me bananas and this is just pasture soapbox i'll get on it for five seconds here is when a wife or a mother says to her children don't listen to your father you are destroying any communication any ability for that child to have a way and soapbox number two when a father says go see your mother soapbox number three when a mom says to dad don't do it that way we're going to do it this way and a dad's authority is overrun and instead the child then looks at dad like well mom don't respect you so neither will i come on y'all think i'm lying but you can see it in the way children are raised in our generation stay on hang on to them jesus for an example 2021 where we are today there are churches in our world that that will that we'll call him daddy and y'all may know some of them i've never called my god my daddy now i understand what they're trying to get to they're trying to recognize relationship but understand when my children came to me and said daddy i love you there's that emotional connect with them but i'm still able to fall and falter and make a mess of it agreed they don't usually come to me and say father how art thou because of our culture where we are but if they ever misunderstand and they put me as their father their daddy in the position of god they've already missed the boat because god our father el shaddai jehovah elohim whatever you want to call him because of who he is he is above all he's he's got more power than anything he don't make mistakes he doesn't falter nor does he hit the ground but one thing he does is he's always the same therefore when you come into the church house stay with me you got to understand something that when we talk about god our father we got to understand in a position in which he is in it has been put there on purpose because god has all the power luke chapter 11. listen to this this is so incredibly powerful if we get it it came to pass verse one that as he was praying talking about jesus in a certain place he ceased one of his disciples said unto him lord teach us to pray as john also taught his disciples all right so john is teaching the followers of him how to pray what to say what it means how does what it stands for there's a chart there's a pointer there's a dry erase marker there's an ipad there's a text how everyone will do it he's teaching them so jesus the bible says in verse 2 said unto them when you pray say notice what jesus says in this prayer our father now wait a minute how can it be that jesus christ the lord of lords the king of kings and the things everything and perfectly pure about him how can it be that this story is mentioned it's also in matthew 6 how is it be that when they said we want to learn how to pray that something happened in this prayer and jesus begins the lesson by saying when you pray say our father father to what jesus was trying to get them to understand was a position are you with me it's a place it is something that a person holds it's that place but then why did jesus start with that terminology of our father why didn't he say my father why didn't he say your father why didn't he say his father or her father or their father but instead he used a three-letter word that is all-inclusive and it says when you pray recognize our father which art in heaven stay with me the scripture gives us this because there's an understanding here that if you'll ever realize men fathers those that are daddies those that have children if you'll ever understand and recognize the authority and the power that comes from the reality of the place and the position of which you hold men you can bring your children up or you can push them to the bottom men you can pray and ask god to give you help and strength and he will and you can be something in their lives besides somebody to go to when you need money you want to know why our culture is messed up is because it has tried with all of its effort and with all of its heart to try to remove the fathers from our world and remove the authority of a father in the lives of men and women and children if we could ever push that influence outside the church house get it outside of your house and recognize our father which art in heaven hallowed be thy name there's an authority that comes from being a father you listen to me man you don't have to be ashamed because you're a prayer warrior some of you men in this place right now just a few moments ago you were weeping and sobbing and crying your eyes were spilling tears and some reason somehow you consider that possibly to be a a weak point in your life or a point that says now i don't need anybody do that i need to do better about that the fact of the matter friend is not that at all but when children see the heartfelt tears of their father they know that my big o brawny dad has somehow struck a chord in his heart and he's now weeping listen i'll tell it and i've said it many times every single time when my babies were growing up that i had to discipline them i mean you know you got a discipline sometimes your children i said it and i meant it brother horton this hurts me more than it hurts you and my kids with that quizzical look would go huh and i said i know that doesn't mean anything to you but it hurts my heart to have to see you in this place what do you mean daddy you messed up you disobeyed therefore you're going to pay the price now my wife and i when we first had babies we decided we will discipline our kids when they on purpose without a question disobey you know your dads know where that look i ain't doing it huh y'all dads know what i'm talking about hey go do that and they walk away come on seth's are mad over there now you feel you don't talk about you wait you wait yeah yeah it happens listen to me i'd look at them and say you know something you will not win this battle you are not going to win i will they say well about mama they want to get mom involved mom had less patience than i did because she loved them more i guess anyway listen to me no i'm fine i don't need you it thinks i had a fall or something my phone i figured it out anyway but every time i had to discipline my children horton i'd grab them up and i'd hug them and i pray with them lauren you guys jesus i forgive you you need to ask jesus to forgive you you're the one who with me no baby no baby you need to know before you ever offended me you offended him so you're going to pray and ask him to forgive you because if he can't forgive you i can't forgive you i don't want jesus to know oh yes you do jesus i'm sorry and i grab her and hug her and say jesus forgave you baby and so does your daddy i don't want you to have to feel that but you need to know something baby i love you enough that i will do everything i can do to help you get this i don't know if i was right or wrong all i know is she finally got it now when they got teenagers that's a different story look at me you're tall as me talk to me that way don't you know who i am yeah well let me show you again smack hang on to me what jesus taught his disciples at that moment was 100 percent about position and authority our father which aren't in heaven because if we as humans will ever recognize the fact that he is indeed el shaddai elohim the wonderful counselor the mighty god the everlasting father if we ever understand that then we know we can too be men of action men of principle men of prayer dads i love you and i honor you so many times you can feel like you've failed because you're not getting the results you think you want you keep being father keep demonstrating the authority of your heavenly father to all you kids in here to all you adults in here that maybe you didn't have a positive father figure in your life i want you to know you can come into the house of the lord and somebody in here can be a father figure to you don't look for the easy one look for somebody to look in the eye and say no no no no no no no that's not how that goes brother gibson you mentioned it early you know why i say to these little ones you ain't running like that get off this see we haven't had a stage in quite a while you don't do that and i don't know if it's right or wrong this is just wooden carpet crooked carpet just that's all it is but if you can't learn authority and position and place and holy things in the house of god what are you going to do when you get a job or at your home or in a job or wherever you what are you going to do if you can't learn to respect the things of god mom and dad they need to understand that well you can't you can't be mean to my child i'm not i'm trying to save them because if my wife gets to them first they're done stand with me it's not true stay with me listen to me carefully father's day stand up please father's day is a simple reminder to all of us of a difference that a man can make in a world men fathers you father on be men of action be men of prayer be men of principle be men of character come on learn to enjoy life with your kids because you're gonna blink one day going to be in other countries serving the same god you serve and they're going to be living in other states and other cities and there is no greater joy that i have brother lorenzo than climbing out of bed in the morning knowing that when my babies got up that day they put god first they put god first because they heard mom praying for them when they grew up they heard dad praying for them when they grew up it's father's day this is such a cool day you guys get a cookie the truth of the matter is right now our world needs you more than ever men jesus needs you to be father in your home father in this church father in his community somebody that's not afraid to stand for something that's right even fight and lose your life to stand for something that's right men fathers today how about we end our service today with you bringing your families to an altar and praying for them could you do that come on slip out from where you are take a step come on well my dad's my father's not here well there's a father figure in this place that you can get up close to come on that's right come on fathers these kids don't know just how much they need you teenagers aren't really they don't get it yet but they will you keep being dead to them come on everybody needs somebody you can come to this altar come on come on you gather up with one of these families come on it's prayer time now we're going to pray men i want you to lead your prayer over your family right now you lead that prayer you begin to pray right now lift your voice come on men come on where's the prayer warriors you lift your voice come on in the name of jesus the name of jesus that's right come on in the name of jesus come on me and let him hear your voice jesus bless my children today bless those dear god that you have allowed to be a part of my life anoint them lord give them fervency god let them understand the hour in which we live let them become men and women of prayer and principle i pray come on men pray over your families in the name of jesus that's right in the name of jesus in the name of jesus in the name of jesus come on that's right pray pray come on it's prayer time this altar is the best place you can be right now all you kids need to be praying right now come on in jesus name help me lord god i need you jesus that's right come on me and pray come on me and pray jesus let my family be saved let my children be saved let them be found lord working and doing your will let them be placed dear god in a place that you call them and put them give them an anointing god an unction lord that only comes from heaven don't let them go to hell god don't let them go to hell jesus i pray but let them love you let them fall in love with you that's right men come on pay the price that's right pay the price your family's waiting for you that's right yes in the name in the name of the name of jesus our father you have the authority you have the place it's you jesus it is you jesus it is you jesus come on that's right lift your in the name of jesus jesus now as a church family can we all lift our voice to the lord right now before we go home jesus i believe in you jesus i thank you come on lift your voice to him lord i honor you i call upon your name without you lord i'm nothing without you lord i'm
