just wish people would understand what is afforded you at a true church the benefits of being in a real powerful biblical church have never been truly comprehended there is so much available in this atmosphere today just by coming in to the presence of Jesus Christ who is in this room right now clap your hands and shout I believe that I said there's healing in this house there's miracles in this house there's advantage in this house there's wisdom in this house there's knowledge in this house that will separate you from everybody you know the Bible is the wisdom of God the Bible is the knowledge of God and the Bible is the will of God and it is the greatest book in all the world I wonder do I preach today to some people who love the Word of God now I am a shouter I am a dancer I do love to praise the Lord and when the choir singing I'm going to dance with him and when somebody's preaching I'm gonna dance with them I think sometimes the reason my wife doesn't like to travel with me is because sometimes it gets a little tight I was preaching in the church one time they had the choir matter of fact it wasn't too far from here I was preaching in a church and and the choir put on a concert that night I mean I was to be there to get speaker and they sang for a hour and a half or so and I'm just shouting with them till I'm tired till I'm wore out and then they leave the platform and I they got glass doors back there and I see them in the foyer drinking water and and slapping backs and telling jokes and I'm getting ready to preach and and the pastor says now but I most important part of the service we bring the Word of God the man of God to preach to us and I look out there in the choirs just having a big time in the hall and I just felt like I had to I saw my wife go up one of the pews Oh God I can just hear over there Jesus Jesus Jesus I said I will began preaching when that choir gets back in this building yet I not I said I shouted with y'all I danced with y'all I ran with y'all you didn't come in here and hear the word of God ever since in my wife's been a little timid about going with me there is nothing more dynamic more determining more demarcating than the delivery of the anointed Word of God for man shall not live by bread alone but by every word that proceedeth out of the mouth of God the devil's not afraid of my cold chill bumps the devil's not afraid of my spiritual acrobats but when I say it is written I've got victory over here so in this present unprecedented day of a climate of economic collapse and calamity whenever where you look it's darkness and dismal deterioration and depression there are not many smiling people on the streets of America but I welcome you to a world of its own it's the Apostolic Church that lives in a spiritual bubble that is not affected by the depression of this world because greater is He that is in us that he that is in the world so in the midst of all the calamity the collapse the devastation of depression I bring to you this afternoon the forward formula for victory and success the church will be victorious the gates of Hell shall not prevail against the church it's gonna be alright we used to see a choir song and said I've got a feeling yeah everything's gonna be alright you need to get your dance mat get your smile back get your shout back cuz it's gonna be alright it's gonna be alright I've been young and now I'm old but I've never seen the righteous forsaken or his seed begging bread God's gonna take care of this church so I'm going to give you the forward formula for victory and success to many people the Bible is a book of deep dark difficult undiscernible discourses to them it's like trying to read a sundial by the light of the moon it's totally difficult for them to ascertain let me just come back to one point here and try to help something it is 5:18 do you know where your Bible is folks this thing is scary to the devil it's scary to people I get on airplanes it's a mate I love to do this this guy across the aisle was reading the Playboy this one more here's got something stupid going on he's reading about race cars and and I see all this junk going on and I dropped that little tray down on my seat and I'd pull my Bible and I mean people just I mean you know thought that I was some kind of terrorist just because I've got the pilot don't let the PowerPoint projection system rob you of your personal grip on the Word of God however the thing that keeps many people from the scripture is not the part they don't understand but the parts they do understand the Bible is a documentary of the history of man course in 6,000 plus years launching humanity into the timeless state of eternity the Bible is the written will of God if you want to know the will of God read your Bible how many know God will speak to you through his word the Bible consists of 66 books and men have exhausted their time on earth investigating interrogating and exploring it's rich resource of wisdom and understanding but I rise to preach to you today you don't have to be an escape artists like Houdini you don't have to crack a code or unravel a mystery the Bible is an open book and you can just walk right in because God's greatest profundity is in his simplicity the Bible said of fool would not err there in Jesus said it like this it is hidden from the wise and the prudent and it is revealed unto babes you don't have to be a person of age and you don't have to be a sage because the world by wisdom knew not God God in His goodness God in His graciousness God in his kindness I mean no we serve a good God now let me teach you a little principle I just learned that's what that statement is all right well let me take you to a higher level on that I love this one of our young preachers went up to Indiana to visit the family of his wife and her granddaddy is an apostolic preacher and so they went over to see grandpa and when they walked in young preacher from our church said praise the Lord brother and said God is good the elderly gentleman said son I need to correct you he said chicken is good god is great I said chicken is good but God is great clap your hands if you know we serve a great God he is great and he is greatly to be praised God said I'm gonna give you four words that will be the basis for victory four words that will be the foundation for success you don't have to be a scholar you don't have to be an intellect you don't have to be a spirits of guru and I'm gonna make it very simple for you he did not seclude this incredible formula in the depths of the middle of his book or hold you captive until the final pages of its print he just laid it out in full view and people have stumbled over it for generation after generation without a key without a combination without a code without a password you can know the formula for victory and success and here it is open your Bibles please to my text Genesis chapter 1 and verse number 1 and the Bible says the first thing we hear from the mouth of God the first thing that God says I won't ever bother to know about me the beginning if you want victory if you want success it is simple in the beginning God the basis for victory and success in your life is God first God first you want a revival Church God first you want Holy Ghost in your home God first you want a happy marriage God first you want a successful business God first if you want blessings on your life seek ye first the kingdom of God and His righteousness and all these other things will be added and he had it had it had it do I preach to somebody who knows God has added to you somebody shout hallelujah God wanted man from the outset to understand the position and the placement he wanted in our world and in our lives in the beginning God just four words that will rock your world four words that will revelation revolutionize your experience with God God said here's what I want you to understand I want priority I won't preference and I won't preeminence the god of denominationalism and religiosity in this hour is convenient somebody said it like this when I was a young preacher and I've never forgotten it they said too long the kingdom of God has function offer pocket change and spare time pocket change and spare time and people only do what they can fit into their schedule what they can do conveniently what they can do without any type of stress or press or any added effort but I know I'm not preaching to people like that here today because no doubt in the Atlanta area the majority of churches have been cancelled because there's a little ice here and a little ice there but they look for reasons to not have church we look for reasons to have Church and if you're all firing your Apple stock you don't look for reasons to miss Church you look for reasons to get to church there's one thing it really agitates me irritates me and upsets me about humanity now I know you got a marvelous pastor he's not like me but sometimes I kind of feel like this bumper sticker I read one time it said the more I know about people the better I like my dog and if you know my dog you know that's a mouthful right there does it take something like my dog but I don't understand that the quirkiness non intelligence and rationale that people have in their walk with God it bothers me as a pastor when people think the only time to come to God is when nothing else is available or will work there are too many people that use the church as the red cross called in only in the time of calamity and catastrophe let me - remember 9/11 we wanted to take advantage of a 9/11 and make our city available to prayer we put a sign out in front of our church the week after that prayer here Church open for prayer people I've never seen before or since lined our altars and the next Sunday we had one largest crowds we've ever had but it was because of calamity and repentance is something I learned a long time ago repentance that is born in the storm usually dies in the car as long as I've pastored I've dreamed about seeing this happen but it hasn't happened yet but I still got a few more years I still have hope I'm looking for the Sunday Pastor John's when some young man is gonna walk in and he's gonna say pastor I am so happy to be here today he said I just got a raise on my job and I'm now making $300,000 a year I'm engaged to marry next month Miss America and I've made a down payment on my first Lamborghini and I woke up this morning and the Sun was shining and I thought what a day to give my life to God I have never seen that happen in Raleigh here's the way it goes they fill the pews when they're three days from prison I pray them through another oh boy we got us a saint after church said he talked to you pastors probably well I gotta check in Monday I'm going to prison or they hit the altar not find out the wife has just served notice you rascal if you don't get to church and serve God we're done and he's down in the altar or the family's done everything they know to get the boy off drugs and nothing seems to work and so now they run to the church and that's a good thing that's a great thing that's a wonderful thing but let me tell you better thing that's good in the good days and it's great in the sunshine and it's great what everything is wonderful I like for somebody take off running these hours this morning and I like to chase them their brother won't you help me here is that the brother was shouting so come up here man I've been disappointed in you come here I need your help more this time I did this morning come on now I won't just kind of act like you're running don't run good I never catch you just kind of you know give it this cross here there you go you got it I like to run to my down like that church one Sunday and I say wow what's wrong your wife leaving you what's wrong getting ready to go to prison what's wrong you just get healed of cancer and I'd love for it to happen one time for somebody say no but God is good and I'm just dancing because God is good and I want to praise his name I don't have a calamity I don't have a catastrophe but I've got a great God well I was somebody shout because god is great god is great Wow now I feel very comfortable here you may be seen and my wife at a when I feel comfortable its dangers its best keep me a little nervous but I feel like I'm at home in Atlanta West so it out in mind I'm gonna pause and you just some a little bit of teaching here we have just violated Scripture we don't believe violated Scripture where's that brother that ran the house he's still kinda it's still owning right now I see yeah right back there Scott brother Scott Stan we violated scripture while ago Scott cuz the Bible said to rejoice with them that rejoice and to weep with them that weep when brother Scott started running the aisles nobody at Atlanta West ought to run the owl's by themselves if Scott's gone around the aisle somebody oughta run with it the Bible said rejoice with them that rejoice rejoice with them that rejoice if somebody's gonna dance somebody's gonna dance with them if somebody's gonna have victory somebody's gotta help that three we're there don't ever let somebody dance about themselves you may be seated i'ma tell you something I can tell I can tell that first bunch didn't get to have breakfast before they came but y'all had a bowl of Wheaties before you got here and it's a lot warmer right now than it was in the first service so we're home we ought to do some dancing and let's get the new year started where the Holy Ghost celebration now you may be seen y'all can really praise God that my wife is with me because I always preach it better when she's with me she's my preaching coach she helps me give her a hand do we have any airplane pilots in this room you know they say that there's a motto and theme among airplane pilots it says there are old pilots and there are bold pilots but there is no such thing as an old bold pilot you know what I mean my wife says there are good sermons and there are long sermons but there is no such thing as a good long sermon one time I preached that camp-meeting years ago and we way out in Canada and I had to drive a long way from the campground to get back to the motel a little town and we were driving man it was one of those exceptional nights you know once in a while preaching you just know what I'm talking about you have an exceptional time oh and I went out that night oh I felt so good preaching and you know I'm out ativ truth my wife will affirming I never listened to myself preach I never listened to a video recording or a CD unless or gives me something that I need to learn he may give me someone I'm preaching it I need it you know I didn't have it in my notes I need to learn it I'll go back get it off the table so thank you Holy Ghost I didn't know that sometimes I learn when I'm preaching and so we were riding back to the motel that night and I just felt great so I don't ever do this by just I don't know those nights I said yeah that's what it was I she said I need it what she was gonna say so she's helping y'all right now so I said I said well did we have church tonight she just said over there now she's my greatest fan and well that I need to run this plug plug back by that fish again in hid down so I cast back over there again come back by and I said something was hitting that place tonight and I thought well let me cut this short we'll get onto the into the faction I said I'm just gonna say something I don't normally say I said I enjoy preaching tonight she said to I said what baby God gave me a bunch of new points she said that's good leave the old ones out the promise some sermons that got more points than a porcupine so I will leave some points out because I'm getting some new stuff up in here right now The Devil's favorite song is when you've tried everything and everything is failed try Jesus I don't know who wrote it but I think the devil inspired him Robby Lanny wolf god bless him I don't play I call names I'm just teasing I don't know who wrote this song he wrote a few so I couldn't go wrong it's either him or Bill Gaither I don't know somebody wrote this song when you tried everything and everything is failed try Jesus and they're kind of cool and when we start seeing that the devil just fans and says sing it again sing it again sing it again because the devil wants our young people and folks to think that you don't even think about Jesus until everything else has failed you don't even think about serving God until you've done everything the devil's got out there everything the world's got out there and then finally you say well I think I'll come back to church let me save you some heartache let me save you some headache let me save you some hangover a good testimony as I used to but I don't anymore but the best testimony is I never did and you that have been in the church since your childhood Oh to outdance out shout every other convert in this building you've got more to dance about than anybody I don't even begin to have time to list all the places in the Bible where God said I want to be first give me first let me be first the Bible is replete with those kind of things but one place in the Old Testament he required the firstborn and the first fruit but in 1st Kings chapter 17 and 13 the Bible reads and Elijah said unto her fear not go and do as I said but make me there up a little cake keyword make it win and bring it unto me and after make for the end I son she told me she said I just got it I got enough stuff here to make one biscuit and the boy and I are gonna share it and we're gonna die he said wait a minute do what I'm telling you make me that biscuit first now can you imagine what the Atlanta journal-constitution could do with that tomorrow morning if it went out of this building today that Pastor Jones ate a wittle woman's last biscuit would the media love that this picture be Ronald a fat rather front page with a big old fat face then make him look three times the size he is eating last biscuit see the glutton that's the reason the first words that came out of the mouth of the Prophet were this fear not I come to you today to tell you that in a world of calamity catastrophe and economical failure fear not to put God first in your life a lot of folks are scared today about what's going to happen tomorrow and how they're going to get by I'm here to tell you today that if you put first in your life God will put you first in his power in his provision and in his promises now let me quickly tell you this afternoon and I know what my response is going to be because I just I just understand that I want to tell you quickly here today that tithing is not 10% now before you rebuke me how are you clothes throw dirt in the air and how the ushers throw me out of the building for preaching heresy listen to me tithing is not 10% according to the Bible there used to be a comedian a gospel comedian comedian and she said that tithing was ten cents the pastor said no baby it's not ten cents is ten percent there's a little difference there let's go to the Word of God proverbs three and nine honor the Lord with thy substance and with the first fruits of all that increased continue please so shall thy barns be filled with plenty and thy presses shall burst out with new wine how many believe that to be blessed by God you've got to be detailed in obedience to the Word of God you have to do it according to the Word of God if it is going to work and he said you're going to be blessed if you will honor the Lord we're the firstfruits of all your substance the point I'm making here is tithing is not 10% tithing is the first 10% you don't pay everybody else and then if you got it you give to God you don't deal with all your payments your house no your car note and all that stuff and then decide well you know what God you're lucky this week I got enough to pay my tithe god I'm gonna let you this Sunday now if you want to be blessed before you go to your budget you take 10% out and you say this is God's money and you honor everybody say that honor so Lord it honors the Lord it tells him your first your priority your preeminent now that's what some of your tithe and it's not working because you're taking it off the bottom and not off the top there's a verse in the Old Testament you tell I love unique scriptures and I love word plays and I get excited about this I've always wanted to use this verse and and I think to my knowledge today's the first time I've ever found scriptural application numbers 15 and 20 one of the first of your dough the first of your dough you shall give unto the Lord and he offering in your generations God said I want the first dough you got give God the first dough you know your doremi that my brother calls it jack you know that's ya Jack that's in your back pocket that money honor the Lord with your dough there is something to be said about a church that is faithful to God that while the rest of the world is an economic depression God's hand will be over you he said he would protect you he said he would keep you from the death hour I rise today on the defense of the truth of God and to a church that ties and gives to missions whose reputation is great because you give to God he said I will rebuke the Devourer for your sake I'm not gonna let it come to your house I'm not gonna let it come to where you are I'm gonna take care of you somebody shout a man Psalm 137 verse 6 the Bible says that we should make Jerusalem our chief joy America is in a great decline of church attendance if Atlanta is like Raleigh I Drive my mother to church and my wife to church every Sunday morning and on the way to church I always get frustrated I've said it until they're tired of hearing all the way to church it bothers me that on Mondays when I'm trying to get to an airport to fly somewhere to preach the traffic is stopping it stopping to go jammed up but on Sundays it looks like there's been an ordered evacuation there is nobody on the highway now I am zealous for God I wanted to see something happen in my ministry my whole life and finally I got to see it happen about a year ago we had a huge crusade in Raleigh and I wouldn't talk like this a lot of places but I'm comfortable here and in one Sunday afternoon we had a hundred and ninety seven people baptized in water in Jesus name in one service and a hundred and twenty-four people were filled with the Holy Ghost I baptized until I had to let other preachers do it it took us three hours to baptize the people however that's really not what my dream was about this is what I've always wanted to see and there were so many people want rides to church that that everybody was going out with with lists to go pick up people we busted or drove in we didn't bust my car's went and got them over 250 300 people we went to pick up the bring the church and I was running one way my life was going another way everybody was picking up people research I went to get some folks and I started down Lake wheeler Road watch where our church is and the traffic was backed-up almost to the freeway that's so a church out of a I got to the church and it looked like the County Fair they were out the door waiting to be registered to come in I couldn't even get in the church I pastor I'm telling you that's the way at all to me but America is on a great decline in attendance the thing is back in the old days churches were full because of two reasons number one people didn't have anything else to do number two they didn't have any money to do it with and that go to church and hear the choir and get some good music like the family with the church one Sunday and on the way home from church they all said had a little great you know everybody had a complaint the man said the preacher preached too long the wife said the choir was a little flat the sister said the PA was to laugh the little brother said not bad for a dollar there was a day that people just came to church because they didn't have anything else to do but I'm here to preach to you today if on a Sunday afternoon in 2010 when the sun shining in it's cold if you're here today it's because you can have something else to do it's because you thought this was the best thing you could do you're here because you thought this is the greatest thing I can do I want to challenge you to put church attendance fire stand your live if my church has Hannah Church I'm gonna be there if my church is meeting I'm gonna be there I'm happy to tell you today I'm in debt to Georgia I was raised in the state of North Carolina I was raised in Charlotte the Queen City of North Carolina privileged by God later to come back and pastor in the capital City of Raleigh God's been good to me and to be married to the most beautiful wonderful woman in the world when I was 13 years old my my uncle took me from Charlotte to outside Atlanta to a youth camp camp meeting my daddy was in prison my brother was trying to my mother was trying to raise me and my brother we didn't have two nickels to rub together and my uncle said I'll take care of all the Wayans expenses if you just let me let me take him I want him to be exposed to this I was 13 years old first night there I got the Holy Ghost brother for the BS Cole prayed me through to the Holy Ghost and I was so privileged of a few years back to dedicate his new church you don't know who you pray in through I was a little boy who's dead was in prison so poor I couldn't pay attention nobody had an idea that I'd be over here preaching your camp meeting and preaching in this great Church this morning I certainly didn't I wish somebody would know God chicken is good but God is great that's ah been privileged to be in the church for years and years and years and I'm here to preach to you today don't criticize the church because it is in its highest form of development and profile and power since the day of Pentecost the church is not own decline but the path of the just shall be a bright light and it's going to shine brighter and brighter more and more unto the perfect day this church is not going to fizzle out or fade away it's gonna blast off and so I'm I'm telling you true stuff here it's I'm not like the little boy whose dad was a pastor who priests and after church the little boy asked his dad on the way home he said dad would you just preaching today or did that really happen I'm telling you what really happened I remember when I was a young man in church the pastor we're getting the pulpit and say we need somebody to mow the grass somebody raised here need somebody to clean the bathrooms need somebody vacuum the carpet need somebody to drive the van need somebody to teach the Sunday School need somebody to work with our youth need somebody to come up make a little choir III want you to know that choir that was here today a while ago there's more of them in that choir than was in my home church and so I've seen the church transition into paradigms and and reach the levels man anybody in the Atlanta area would be privileged to come to this church the wealthiest the most powerful the most political I mean the mayor of this city the governor of this state this is a five star church and so when they go through that list then they'd finally say well in a condescending way if you can't do anything else then pray as if prayer is so easy anybody can do if you think that's the case be here Tuesday night and just watch how easy it is you'll see people that don't even like kids grab somebody else working in their day timer text messaging people and in case I don't forget that was a new line this morning so let me use it again some of us need to get our face out of the Facebook and get our face in this book instead of seeing what's going on with everybody else let's see what's going on with him instead of them let's see what's going on with him true story we're having prayer meeting on Saturday night in Raleigh and North Carolina State University just right down from our church just a few miles naturally there's people in our church they have an inclination of listening to what's going on with a Wolfpack if some of them men are just all into that prayer meetings going on football season States playing a home game our me and her walking blow thank you Jesus when I'm walks by his buddy he said stage two here at 14 and 7 hallelujah now how in the world he knew I don't know I know the gifts of the Spirit didn't tell him some people come to prayer meeting they just read their Bible that's that's a good thing to do but prayer is talking to God I got these young couples that renew their marriage vows during prayer means I watch them I'm having to remind my wife y'all weren't here this morning I'm not gonna leave out the best part of the sermon I'm not gonna cut y'all short we're praying we're interceding we're battling demons we're wrestling with God and I'm crying and God save our city it oh and I look back there in these young couples I'm all for that if you got a license but don't do it doing prayer me let's fry suck it up let's get it right first Timothy chapter 2 and 1 I exhort therefore that first of all supplications prayers intercessions given of thanks be made for all men god said prayer is not for those who can't do anything else prayer is first the real champions of this church the real warriors of this church the real significant people are not those who are highly esteemed in office and we thank God for you but it's the prayer it's people that know how to get a hold of God a little mother-in-law will in our backyard until she deceased she was one of the greatest prayer warriors I've ever seen in my life she was one of my greatest fans you're doing ok when your mother all feels that way about you the only problem I ever had my mother law was guest speakers we'd be on the way to church the night she say she always had that little bone hit you preaching tonight no ma'am we have a guest speaker why do we waste the money I want you to preach tonight she didn't want to hear anybody else but every time I was ever challenged to go preach a big meeting a General Conference of the cause of the times some high-profile meeting where I needed a little extra from God I pass about it a little house in my back yard and I said granny I'm on my way too because the times would you would you be prayin for me I will feel much better if I know you're praying for me just say what time are you gonna be preaching I'd tell her she said I'll be on my knees when we buried her I lost something great in my life more than all the money in the world somebody that would pray for me the heroes of this church are not people that talk about prayer but people that pray my little mother could preach for y'all today and you would really enjoy her because her use of the English language is enjoyable I love words I love to talk to people I love to talk to kids I love to talk to old folks I love my talk to my my newest grandsons two and a half years old I love to talk to him you know and I love to hear what he says things you know it's beautiful well my mother but she's got a headache or something she say Wayne could you stop by the drugstore I got a headache bring me some hoppip open-eyed say what is it mama I got a headache would you get me some hoppip open she's like what's wrong with you you don't know the English language finally I got the revelation you mean ibuprofen yeah that's what I said I'm not gonna preach against your hop-up open but before you take the hop-up open why don't you try prayer the Bible said call for the elders of the church and let them anoint with all we need a return to prayer and faith in the promise and the power of God so the Bible tells in the book of Mark how the disciples encountered an incredible storm and the odd thing about it is Jesus was on board their ship now I thought brother Cooper if Jesus was on board ship he would be clear sailing home free until I researched the scripture and then I found out what the problem was they did have Jesus on board but he was in the hind her part of the ship and he was asleep so I came up to this revelation that you can have Jesus on board and still hit a storm if you let him sleep or if you put him way back in your life now let me I'm gonna share a little deep revelation with you folks years ago before sweet'n low equal I drunk sweet tea you know North Carolina's famous for sweet tea and Georgia and Tennessee it's like maple syrup you put your spoon in or you can't get it out so much sugar and I used to drink tea with loads of sugar we were out listening with some ministers one day and and and I had prepared my tea and I took a drink and it was bitters golf yeah you know teas a mystery to me yeah he didn't get it hot he put icing to make oh you put lemon in it to make it kind of bitter and sugar in and make it sweet and then you drink it I took a drink of that tea and it was like oh this is horrible and I said I know I put sugar in it it was then I got the revelation I looked in the bottom of my glass there was that much tea I'm much sugar in the bottom of that glass there was that much sugar piled up to my glass it was then I came up with this profound revelation it is not the sugar that sweetens the tea it's the stirring so it really doesn't matter how much Holy Ghost you claim you've got the thing that gives you power is when it's activated it's not enough to have Jesus in your life if you let him sleep let's have a body stand you gotta have him activated they had him in the hind or part of the ship and as long as skies are blue they didn't bother him there any of you know folks like I know that when the phone rings and I recognize their voice I can say what's wrong cuz they never call me I've a there's a problem when my phone rings I recognize that voice I say what's wrong now I'm talking about some relatives I'm not going alright Saints I talk about relatives relatives who are supposed to be Saints but not in our church if that phone rings it's their voice I know there's some in room I hope that in your wall with God every time God hears your voice he doesn't say what's wrong I hope that every once in a while God hears your voice and you just just say Lord nothing's wrong I just wanted to talk to you
