As pastor said earlier, there's a lot of things that we do around here that I know we become accustomed to doing, but you don't stand uh for any other reason, but that we are standing in honor to the infallible, forever settled word of God. Amen. >> I don't know about you, but I'm thankful for the word of God. I'm thankful to have access to it. I'm thankful to know the truth because we're one day going to be judged by this word. Amen. So, tonight I I come to you. I don't have any props. I don't have anything fun or revelational, you know. Um, just to be honest with you, for most people in this room tonight, this is simply going to be a reminder, but I feel very burdened to bring this topic to you. We heard a wonderful word this morning that I'm still feasting on from pastor. Won't you enjoy the word of the Lord this morning? So thankful. So thankful for that. As you're going to Exodus chapter 3 and verse number 13, I do want to say welcome to all of our guests. I've seen a number of guests in the house of the Lord tonight. We honor you. Thank you for being here and it is our honor. It's such a privilege to have you with us tonight. And if you would, I I I've I've got a special guest with me tonight. For over 15 years, I'd have to say, I was thinking about it a little bit ago. I have had a good friend in this community. Uh his name is Raul Placeris. He's he's better known as Coach P and he's coached Marville College for quite some time. But most of all, he's done a lot of good in this community, but he's here tonight. He's my friend. Would you give him a big hand and welcome him? Thank you for being here tonight. I honor you. Good friend for a long, long time. He's seen me coach and I don't do very good at that. And we played a lot of ball together. I'm not very good at that either, but we, uh, this is probably the first time he's heard me preach, so maybe I'm better at this than I am the other two things. So, um, Exodus chapter 3 and verse number 13. And Moses said unto God, behold, when I come unto the children of Israel, and shall say unto them, the God of your fathers has sent me unto you. He's speaking to Moses. Moses is somewhat timid. Moses has got excuses. Moses is trying to accept the reality that he was going he's going to be the one who brings them out. And he says, "The God of your fathers has sent me unto you and they shall say unto me, what is his name?" Could you say that with me? What is his name? What shall I say unto them when they ask the question, what is his name? What is his name? When that that's what they're going to ask me if I come saying, "The God of your fathers has come. I've come to be a part of your deliverance from captivity out of Egypt, out of Pharaoh's hand. What do I tell him your name is? What is his name?" And God said to Moses, "I am that I am." And he said, "Thus shalt thou say unto the children of Israel, I am hath sent me unto you." I simply want to preach to you tonight on this question. What is his name? Now, I know you know the answer to this already. And so, tonight, if you can kind of help me, it will help keep a little engagement tonight. When I say, "What is his name?" >> See, we're already done. We could go home. Amen. What is his name? >> Jesus. >> We are people of the name. >> That's right. >> Before we were called apostolics or Pentecostals, long before uh we we even established anything or the Holy Ghost was poured out here in the United States, we were known as people of the name. And what is that name? Jesus. >> I want to preach to you about that for just a few moments. Lay your Bibles down and lift your hands to heaven. Just pray with the Lord. Would you speak to me tonight? Lord, I've come not just to be here and not to check off just the attendance list, but I want to hear from heaven. I want to hear from your voice. Lord, I want to experience a change in my life. Lord, I want to leave here different than I came in. And I know, God, that where your presence is that anything can happen. Lord, that you can move on the hopeless. You can move on the broken. you can move on those that need healing tonight, Lord. And we know, God, that as we speak the name of Jesus over this room tonight, Lord, that all authority in heaven and earth, God, is going to take over this room tonight, God. And we're here to see with expectation and faith, knowing that you are going to do great things in our midst. In Jesus name we pray. Everybody said, "Amen." >> Amen. >> Amen. You may be seated tonight. in the scriptures, in the text, as you thumb through the pages and the stories and become familiar with the word of God, the naming of a place, the naming of a person was very important throughout scripture. If you begin to turn the pages in Genesis, you know, of every just about every Sunday school story that takes place, as Abraham takes Isaac up the mountain, and you know the story, he he he's going to sacrifice in obedience his son unto God. is this type and shadow of of of Jesus Christ and him being crucified, the only begotten son. And we see that this old thing happens and it says Abraham called the name of that place Jehovah Gyra. He had such an experience that he named the place Jehovah Gyra. Any of you that's been around church for a while would say that means what? God is my provider, right? And so he called it something. And we see that Jacob rose up early in the morning, took a stone up for his pillow, and he had had a dream and he had had he had seen that there is a heaven and earth and there's a ladder from here to there. And he had an experience and he called the name of that place Bethl. He had an experience. So he named a place said it was once called Luz, but because I had an experience here, I'm going to name it something. And you go on and on and on. Jacob named a place called Pineal that he had seen the face and my life had been preserved. And we see that that that the day that they rolled away the reproach off of Egypt, he says, "Wherefore the name of this place shall be called Gilgal unto this day." On and on and on and on again. As you turn the pages, every time something powerful happens in the text, especially throughout the Old Testament, they change the name of that place. I'm no longer going to call this place. I'm going to call it Bethl. I'm going to call it a place, the house of God, where I've experienced something. And David, when he gets to the city of Jerusalem, he has to change it from Jibus, the place of the Jebusites, to now a city of David. He changes it to what means uh meaningless motion. Motion without meaning is what uh Jesus means to a city of peace and a place of worship and a place that has some meaning. And we see that a name always changes the meaning. it always shifts uh what that geographical location once meant to someone else. So what I I want to make sure that we understand tonight that names matter. >> What you call it matters. The name matters. I'm here for for for just simply to ask you a few questions tonight. Perhaps we could start with this place. What do you call this place? >> You see, I call it church. I call it a house of prayer. On Monday through Friday from from 7:30 to 6:00 p.m. I come in, somebody comes in and calls it a house of prayer. I call it a house of worship. I call it a place of peace. I have I but but ultimately I have a real question I want you to ask yourself honestly tonight. What do you call this place? Because if we're not careful, our attitude toward the house of God, how we act toward the house of God, our passion for the house of God, our need for the house of God can shift at times in different seasons of our life. >> Oh yes. Oh yes. >> God forbid it ever be a place of meaningless motion. >> It become a place of just monotony. It's optional. >> I know it's a refuge for some, but what is it for you? I know it meant a lot to a previous generation who helped build it, who helped uh uh dig it out. But what does it mean to this generation? >> I know the guys back there from the free class. I was talking to a few of them before church. I know what it means to you all to be here. You just can't help yourself. You just let out a little bit of Yeah, I know it means a lot to you all. But what's it mean to those who's been who've been here sometime? >> What's it mean to those who cut their teeth, you know, on the back of the pew and slept underneath the pew? you been have you just become accustomed to it? It's just maybe a place that we come to. No, it's the house of God. And we must continue to reverence it. We must continue to call it what it is. We must continue to make it first and foremost. It's not just another place. It's not just another gathering. It's not where I come see my friends and sip on some coffee and No, no. It's a place that I have to find value in. >> That's right. David said, "I was glad they wouldn't always let people like me in this place. I was glad when they said unto me, let us go into the house of the Lord." Daniel said, "I'll go to the house of prayer. You can throw me in the lion's den. You can kill me, but I'm going to go to the house of the Lord." What is this place to you? It's important, parents. It's important grandparents. It's important all of the seasoned saints here that we apply what David and the psalmist writes in 107 and verse 8 and verse 15 and verse 21. He says, "Oh, that men would praise the Lord for his goodness and his wonderful works to the children of men." He says they ought to hear. They ought to see. They ought to be able to know what you value. Amen. Yes, >> we want to make sure that the house of God, attendance to the house of God, the presence of God, worship, all the things that have brought us to where we're at today continue to be shown to another generation. Brother Cheshan, what good would it be if we don't let this thing pass on to the next generation? God, help us that we see a generation that thinks that that it doesn't matter whether you attend church or not. You could just come when you want to and just stay at home when you want to. We could just watch online. Is it something you have to do or is it who you are? >> Is it grandpa's church or will you name it for yourself? >> It's a place that we must give a name. It's a place that we must prioritize. It's the place that changed my life. It's the place that's brought peace to the anxious. It's a house of mercy for the broken. It's a house of prayer for the heavy and the weary. It's a house of worship for those that are that that that just need to express their gratitude. It's healing for the sick. Many times I've seen people walk up and they have a sickness and they leave here healed. Amen. We still serve a healing God. Amen. I've seen marriages mended. I've seen I've seen community where somebody's been outcast. Somebody has no friends and they walk into a place >> and all of a sudden it changes >> not only what they call this place, but it changes their identity >> as well. What do you call this place? We have to be careful. You'll see in the Bible the naming of a place was often times to remind them of an experience. Either it was a monument of the goodness of God or perhaps the ignorance of man and a mistake, something perhaps you want to remember and some things that you don't want to repeat or maybe it's a redemption process. It's it's good or bad, but you you name the place so I don't forget this place. The naming of it is important. So we see that the people of God, the people of God many times throughout scripture name a place. Let me give you one particular one that I think resonates with the day and age that we live in. The people of God have been delivered from Pharaoh and Egypt. Moses has carried out all the things God has. He's he's worked miracles. He's all the plagues have happened. The blood on the doorpost. He's parted the Red Sea. And they walk through on dry line on dry land. And they are they are they're they're not even a few pages turned from walking through on they're seeing one of the greatest miracles that that Hollywood and everybody's tried to depict. You just think what would it have been like to be there to be walking through and there's water on both sides and how does this happen? But you don't even get just a few pages and the same people that walk through a miracle are already complaining. >> They're already frustrated. They're already saying some rather interesting stuff. Nothing never seemed to be good enough in the wilderness. From God's perspective, you would think protecting and providing and giving light and giving uh giving covering and you you think all that would have to be better than Pharaoh's whip across your back. Amen. >> Nevertheless, here we are. There was a mixed multitude that he refers to, the Bible refers to who caused a great deal of trouble. They didn't see everything the way God se saw it or even the other folks saw it. They had a different name for things than what other people called it. It was interesting. Bread from heaven six days a week wasn't good enough for them. It It wasn't enough to them. Pastor's message this morning. There's always a season of just enough before you get to the blessings of the promised land. >> You can you if you you're not okay with the mana from heaven, you're probably never going to see the milk and the honey. If you're not okay with the provision today, you're probably not going to see the promised land. It was these people who couldn't be. They couldn't be content with God's provision. And so because they couldn't be content with the God of just what you need, they would never see the abundance of what was on the other side of the of of what God had for them. We kept seeing it over. So Numbers 11, I want you to see this. The people complained. Verse one, Numbers 11:1. It displeased the Lord and the Lord heard it and his anger was kindled and the fire of the Lord burned among them. Now this again, this is different different day. Everybody's like, "I wish I would have lived back then." You don't want to live back then, right? You displease the Lord. He starts burning people up. Huh? I know people joke around like, "Hey, you know, I I've heard people like talk about those stories and talk about, you know, Uncle Rico's living in the past. He starts telling all the stories of he, you know, he won the championship and he did this and everybody steps back and make sure he's not going to get struck by lightning because we know that ain't how really happened, right? Huh? I mean, this is this is what's really going on. You know what I mean? He's they're displeasing the Lord and all of a sudden he's just burning them up. See anybody volunteering, right? Verse three says, "And he called the name of the place to bear because the fire of the Lord burned among them. And the mixed multitude," notice this mixed multitude that was among them fell a lusting. And the children of Israel also wept again and said, "Who shall give us flesh to eat?" The mana was not enough. We remember the fish which we did eat in Egypt freely. I don't think anything in Egypt was free. Huh? You worked for everything you got in Egypt. But a perspective when you're just walking in the wilderness. You have everything you need. But a mixed multitude has a mixed mindset. And all of a sudden they said, "We freely ate these cucumbers and these melons and these leaks and these onions and these garlic." That sounds terrible to me, but whatever. Um, anybody does that sound good to anybody? Huh? >> Maybe. So, all right. But now our soul is dried away. There is nothing at all besides this mana before our eyes. You can call it one thing, but there's always going to be a mixed multitude that don't see it the way you see it. >> There's always Don't allow the mixed multitude to change your values. Don't allow the mixed multitude who don't see it the way you see it to cause you to start digressing and cause you to start compromising. Do do you want to change? Do you want to see God do things? Do you you think this is going to happen? Now you allow them to to change your view, to change your perspective. People were consumed by the fire of God >> and they're still complaining. >> I don't know about you, but I could straighten up pretty quick when God's burning people up. But these people, they they have they have no fear of God. They are seeing a demonstration of God's judgment. >> I don't know about you, but we would have the greatest revival ever if all of a sudden some somebody just gets burnt to a crisp. >> Everybody's bowing. Everybody's You don't have to say another word. I'll do whatever you say, Lord. But the fire of God consumed somebody and they're still well. We had we had better we had better melons and cucumbers. Garlic and leaks. Sounds terrible. We remember we ate these things freely. You didn't eat anything freely. You want something other than what God has for you. You want something other than the provision. And so verse 32 says, "And the people stood up all the day and all the night and the next day and gathered up all these quails because you will see in scripture when you desire something else, God will give you what you desire." That's a wonderful scripture. God will give you the desires of your heart. Oh, that sounds great. But that's a pretty hinged scripture. That door swings both ways. That's great if you have good desires. If you're highly motivated with the wrong motives, we can be in just as bad of a place as we could be a good of the good place. Right? So we see here that they had desires. He said, 'I'll give you some quail. I'll give you some flesh. And while the flesh was between, verse 33, between their teeth, it was chewed and the wrath of the Lord was kindled against the people. And he smoked the people with a very great plague. And he called the name of that place Kimroth Hadava because there they buried the people that lusted. Pages from the promised land, pages from the miracle, pages from the deliverance, pages from the great exodus that we sing about. And Kibrath had you know what that means? The grave you crave. They literally dug out with their desires where they would lay themselves. If I I don't know any if if that doesn't preach, if that doesn't resonate with you, I don't know what else would in the scripture. Every decision you make is digging your grave. >> Whether you're going to be planted or you're going to be buried, >> whether it's going to be a place of resurrection or it's going to be a place of a second death, we are digging it out with our desires. He said it's the grave that you crave. You desire whatever you desire, the Lord's going to give it to you. But if you desire the things that are not what I have for you, is your job more important? Huh? Is your education more important? We we've got to make sure we keep our priorities. These people are God's people, but they're become a mixed multitude. when I compare it to others, when I look at the world, when I look around me, when I look at these things, what is it that you desire in your heart? What is it that you're craving in your household? What is it that you're trying to accomplish? What is it that everybody's going to stand over your grave when they roll you down the center aisle? And I hate to be morbid, but this is the reality. When it when when it's all said and done, your desires will determine the character of the person who lays here. >> That's right. >> What is it you're trying to accomplish? Are you just hoping to just barely slip into heaven? Just get by with what you can get by with? What are your desires? What does a man gain if he gains the world and loses his soul? >> They craved everything but what God had for them. I mean, nothing listed sounds good, but that's what they wanted because it wasn't what God had for them. Is your life simply a mess because you care more about how the world sees you than how God sees you? Are you letting your affections be on everything around you rather than things on things above? You must you must live by the laws of the land. God created the order in his creation that we must feed what is feeding us. Grass gives to the soil. The soil gives to the grass. The cycle stops. Something dies. You feed what feeds you. Clouds give rain because the earth gives it back. If the cycle stops at any point, something lacks. Some of us want to eat in one place and be fed in another place. >> We can't take from the world all week and expect for God's presence to satisfy us. >> You can't scroll through sin all week and expect this spiritual moment with God when you come into his presence. when we've polluted ourselves and our minds are consumed with all the overwhelming things of the world and life, but we expect that we haven't read or prayed or talked or done anything devotional or spiritual all week, but we expect God to show up on Sunday. >> We expect God to show up when things have turned bad and this is not what I had in mind and all this is going on. But you've not been feeding what's what's supposed to be feeding you. You You've got to understand God will not be mocked. You will reap what you sow. It's the law of the land. You cannot change it. Your cravings have consequences. Good and bad. They that hunger and thirst after righteousness shall be filled. I'll never forget I was with Pastor Carpenter. We were doing a graveside and it resonated with me so strongly that moment. I just happened to be I just happened to be a stand a standby pawbearer for the day. The man didn't have much family or much much friends and helped carry the man's casket. We set it down as a local cemetery. Pastor done what he always does and so eloquently conducts the graveside. And we get in the car and we go to drive and we drove a circle around that cemetery and brother Josh, he began to just point out, "Brother so and so is buried over there. Sister so and so is buried over there." Before we got out of there, I was thinking, man, this place is going to look crazy >> when the Lord comes back. >> That's right. >> Thinking this whole place >> is going to be a resurrection spot. This is going to be a hot spot when the trumpet sounds. This is going to And I thought, man, when I drove out, it says cemetery and has some little scripture and has something. But I'm thinking, hey, it might be a death. It might be a place where you don't want to walk through at night. It might be a place where you just, you know, this is kind of a spooky place. I don't want to be around. And you might be thinking, this is a morbid place. But it's not that kind of place for the saint of God. >> It's just a temporary planting because through the resurrection of Jesus Christ, the same spirit that rose Christ from the dead changed the name of that place to not just be a I'm thankful. I don't know about you, but that's why I'm doing what I'm doing. You might have a different reason. You might have a different cause. You might have a different purpose. But I want to make it to heaven one day. And if I sad to say that some call it a graveyard, but others see it as just the the sleeping of the saints. The naming of a place can be determined by who is in that place. The grave is ultimately determined by the craving of the individual. The desire for he seeth Psalms 49:10 seeth that the wise men die likewise the fool and the brutish person perish and leave their wealth to others. The their inward thought is that their houses shall continue forever and their dwelling place to all generations. They call their lands by their own name. >> Nevertheless, man being an honor abideth not. He is like a beast that perisheth. One translation says he's like a dog that passes because they want they named it after their own name. It's it's temporal. This all makes sense why the devil wants to call me something different. This all makes sense why it's in our our our our first atom, our adamic nature to want to call and to want to identify each other by a name. It's no different than the playground when you were in school. It's just a little name calling. Huh? See it all through the Bible. when Shadrach, Meshach, and Abedneo show up and they're going to take them captive. Daniel 1 verse number one, in the third year of the reign of Jehookim, king of Judah became Nebuchadnezzar, king of Babylon, under Jerusalem and besieged it. Verse 6 says, now among these were the children of Judah, Daniel, Haniah, Mishel, and Azariah. And verse 7 says, "Unto whom the prince of the Unix gave their names, for he gave Daniel his name, Belshazzar, and Haniah of Shadrach, and to Mishel Mach, and to Azariah Abedneo. In the days of Daniel, when they took them into captivity, the first thing they did was not they didn't they didn't teach them the language. They didn't teach them, you know, these are the things. This is the laws. This is the protocol. They said, before you come into this culture, we're going to change your name. >> All right? >> When we take you in as a slave, when we take you in captive, we're going to change what you call yourself and especially what everybody else calls you. So, I want you to look at this. This is powerful because this is what the devil's trying to do to us. This is what the world and if we're not careful, our flesh will begin to fall prey to it. From Haniah, you know what Haniah means? Yahweh has been gracious. >> All right. >> To now we're going to call you Shadrach, which means I am fearful of God. Little G, God. Haniah literally goes from faith to fear. Michel, who can compare to my God? No one. That's what his name meant. Who can compare to my God? No one. To Mach, which says, "I am despised, contemptable, and humiliated." He goes from confidence to cowardice. He goes from from from a focus on God to a focus on himself. Worried about what everybody thinks. Coward down. Now Daniel, he goes from God as my judge to Belshazar, lady, protector of the king. Now Daniel, they changed not only Daniel's name, they changed Daniel's gender. >> Notice who was given the names, though. The prince of the Unix were given the names. >> The Unix were to protect the working women. They they they couldn't control their flesh. And so they they these are the type of people that you definitely don't want somebody that's unproductive naming you. You definitely don't want someone who who who has has nothing to name for themselves to start name. It's literally like a fourth grade playground. You're dumb. You're dumber. Huh? You're stupid. You're stupider. It's just childish name calling. It's so childish. It's so foolish when you begin to look uh you know again we've read the back of the book on all these stories so it's a little easier but insecure people are always looking to tear somebody else down. It's the age-old story. The enemy is going to work directly against what God is trying to do in your life. God says I'm chosen. He's going to whisper a lie. God says you're more than a conqueror. He's going to try to make you feel like a loser. God says. >> So it becomes a it becomes this tugof-war of identity and our identity shift when we look at the wrong things because Proverbs says, "For a man thinkketh in his heart, so he is." Our enemy has become an expert at convincing us to accept false labels, to accept accept false identities. And he's going to try to claim you. He's going to try to name you. He's ultimately going to try to tame you into the person he wants you to be. >> And if the devil can let you just get caught up in all the names that he is calling you, he ultimately is going to keep you from realizing the revelation of Jesus. He cannot let you be named. this body, this temple, this vessel, this place. He can't let you understand the power of the name of Jesus. You understand that this is this is the the question and this question still resonates on through the pages of scripture. He says, "I am." But this question is the tugof-war all through the text. >> It's the debacle of all the times. So we see this is something that the devil is so against and our and we see it it's threaded within those that are consumed and cultures that are consumed by the work of the enemy and Satan we we know we we we see that he is doing his best to make sure that you don't understand the power of the name of Jesus >> man we see it so so strongly today you understand the devil is never going to want you to be named because he's never given a proper name >> Satan is not a name In the or original text, it is always stated the Satan. It's a title for the accuser or the gossiper. Lucifer is not a name. It was a Latin in origin. It was never translated over to Hebrew and it simply means son of the morning. The devil is not a name. The adversary is not is not given a name. And so we see in Jewish culture, the original literature that one who is not worthy of a name must be reduced to titles. making some sense, >> huh? >> Father of lies, son of predition, >> evil spirit, >> serpent. We will not give him a name. Therefore, he doesn't want you >> to have a name. He wants you to wear the labels. He wants you to wear the titles. He wants you to get consumed with being this and consumed with being that. This is why there's not just uh the false doctrine of the trinity but there is uh there is now pronouns in our world that's being thrown at us. >> I can identify as this or that and I can be this or I I can be whatever I choose to be. I can put on whatever label I want to because the devil has convinced me it's my decision and it truly is. But he wants to distract you with other desires. The adversary wants you to call yourself whatever you want as long as you never get the revelation. >> Never get the re revelation of what is >> his name. >> The question that Egypt asked on the forefront is still the question that is fighting God's people today. I I know we claim to be people of his name, but I've come to remind you tonight that there is something powerful. There is something that we must hold to and we must cling to. If we don't have the name, we don't have anything. >> I got to make sure the children of this church, the young people of this church hear this place and hear that this is a good place, but they know that this is a place of his name. This is not a place where we come and we we try to do anything anything without the name of Jesus Christ. >> I know it's simple, but we must be reminded tonight. I got to make sure everyone I know knows the name of Jesus. Why is there always been such an attack against the name? Why has he always tried to limit and and and and divide him up and make him into three and make him into this? Jesus was crucified ultimately because he was using a name >> that he wasn't supposed to be using. You're claiming to be Yahweh. You're claiming to be the I am by the time of Jesus's earthly ministry. The Jews had not heard the proper name Yahweh of God. For over 300 years, they've not even heard it. It's not fell on one ear. It's not been mentioned. This is why John's gospel all of a sudden strikes through the pages of history and all of a sudden there's a carpenter from Nazareth who is casually using the proper name of God. The name that's not been mentioned for over 300 years and the devil and all of hell starts trembling because the question that Egypt asked and we've been trying to hide and we've been trying to put labels on and we've been trying to get them let's let's get them get in a cycle of the book of Judges for 300 years. Let's keep them distracted by their desires over here. Let's keep them distracted by their desires over here. Whatever we do, we just can't let them remember that he is >> the I am. >> Jesus had a right to use the name because he was God >> in flesh. >> The Jewish religious leaders were outraged. They understood who Jesus was claiming to be. Even if some of the modern theologians do not understand it today, the whole issue is not whether he was washing hands uh when he ate bread or whether he was eating with sinners or whether he was healing sick on the Sabbath or what he was doing. It was all because he was there claiming to be God in flesh. He was using a name that they weren't supposed to be used. It's using a name that was hasn't been used since the Old Test. He's using a name that has some authority >> and has power. John 8:28. Then said Jesus unto them, Why have you lifted up the Son of Man? When you have lifted up the Son of Man, then you shall know that I am. >> I am He. >> Something specific is going to happen at the crucifixion that will prove my divinity. So, you need to be watching when they lift me up. It's going to prove that I am who I say that I am. So therefore, we continue and whatsoever we do in word or deed. >> We are to do it all >> in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God and the father by him. That's why it's and I I've got to move through this quickly, but that's why when we see all of a sudden a transition from the Gospels and the Old Testament law and we see that book of Acts, which hens the entire Bible, Peter stands up and he says, "You are to repent of your sins and you are to be baptized in the name." >> Why are you to be baptized in the name? Because it's an identity change. You are a worker of iniquity. You are full of sin. Iniquity means that you are characterized by sin. And so all of a sudden that character of sin, that name that you had been given that you were you were a loser. You were a failure. I was a sinner. I was broken. I was addicted. I was messed up. All of a sudden it goes down in a grave. >> It goes down and it's buried in the waters of baptism just like he was buried. And Peter said, you got to be buried in his name. You got to take on that name >> for the remission of sins. >> And so we see here that he says this is the three steps. It's the same three steps that's resonated from the very beginning. I I gave it to Moses. I gave it to Moses when I told him I was the I am. All of a sudden, he put blood on the doorpost. And he walked through the Red Sea and he followed a pillar of cloud and a pillar of fire. Why? Because it's always been blood, water, and spirit. And so before he said, "I'm going to tell you about my name." John just happens to be Matthew, Mark, Luke, John. John emphasizes the name more than anybody does. But John starts talking about that name. And I think it falls perfectly there. Why? Because he knew that before you go through the blood, the water, and the spirit in the book of Acts. And Peter gets up and preaches with the keys to the kingdom. And he says, "Repent of your sins." He's calling back Moses. He says, "Be baptized." He's calling back Moses. He says, "You're going to be filled with the gift of the Holy Ghost." He's calling back. You got to do it all in the name of Jesus Christ. If anybody's had that name applied, why don't you give him praise for just a moment? We are the people. We are the people of the name. And he said, when you receive the Holy Ghost, you don't receive the Holy Ghost to sing in the choir. You don't receive the Holy Ghost to put on certain clothes. You don't receive the Holy Ghost to to be able to do certain things. And you don't receive the he said you simply begin you you receive the Holy Ghost to be a witness. >> He says you've been endued with power from on high. Now go be witnesses. >> You know why you need a witness? Because you're still on trial. >> The only reason you need a witness is you're still on trial about this name. The bride is still battling >> the use of the name that's been applied to her because the groom purchased it. >> He He purchased it. He says, "So, you got to take on the name, but when you take on that name, there's going to be some affliction. You take on that name, people aren't going to like it. You take on that name, and so people are still asking you the same question today. What What What is his name? You know, I I don't know. I don't really know why, but a lot of people shy away from being a witness because they can't describe or explain his oneness, his dual nature, all being surmised, all being covered by his name, the name of God. Same God who spoke to Moses at a burning bush is the same God who robed himself in flesh in Acts 4:12 said neither is there salvation in any other for there's none other name there is none other name >> under heaven given among men whereby we must somebody say must >> must be saved. It is not optional. He says, 'If you're going to pray, whatever you shall ask in my name. >> He says, 'I'll do it that the Father may be glorified in the Son. In John 14:14, he says, if you will ask anything in my name, I will do it. He said, if you want deliverance, Acts 16:18, and he says, and she did. And and this did she many days, but Paul being grieved turned and said uh to the spirit, I command thee in the name of Jesus Christ. >> I command thee in the name of Jesus Christ, come out of her. And that very same hour they came out. Could I speak to you? Could I speak to you for a moment? I've heard some things recently and some and I've seen it post on some things. I've heard it talked about among some young preachers talking about the spirits and demons and this and that. I'm telling you, if you got the Holy Ghost, >> you've got the name applied. There's nothing you should be worried about. You just speak the name of Jesus and it has authority over any spirit, over any adversary, over any sickness, over any disease. I'm not going to stand and back down from anything. Why? Because Jesus, Jesus, Jesus. When I speak the name of Jesus, demons tremble. When I speak the name of Jesus, enemies have to flee. When I speak the name of Jesus, I understand. >> I understand there's spirits. >> I understand there's an adversary, >> but I ain't afraid of any of them. You You're full of the Holy Ghost. >> Speak Jesus on judgment day. Philippians 2:9 says, "Wherefore God has also exited, highly exalted him and given him a name which is above every name that at the name of Jesus At the name of Jesus, not some but every knee >> should bow. I'm here to tell you there won't be a mixed multitude. >> There's coming a day when things in heaven and things in earth and things under the earth and that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord to the glory of the God the Father. John 15:20. Remember the word that I said unto you, the servant is not greater than his lord. If you have persecuted me, you've als they will also persecute you. He says, you're going to keep being persecuted and they're going to keep they're going to keep fighting you and these these things are going to happen. Why? He says in verse 20 21, for my name's sake. >> It's all because of his name. Anything you're feeling, any opposition you're feeling, it's because they've been fighting. They put him on trial. They crucified him. They killed him because of >> the name. Matthew 10:22. And you shall be hated of all men for my >> name's sake. But he that endureth to the end. He that endureth to the end shall be saved. I want you to hear me for a moment. I want to make sure that I say this and that it it sticks in this room. But we are not anti-Semitic. We are not anti-Islamic. We are not anti-carismatic. We are not anti- anything. We are for something >> and we are for someone and we stand for the name of Jesus Christ. >> That's right. >> People try to get you into comment sections and people try to get you into conversations and people don't get don't don't get into what everything that you you you know disagree on. We're just people of the name. We just love Jesus because he first loved us. But right now in our culture, >> right now in our culture, there's various ecumenical groups that are drafting theological statements of a one world church union. >> That's right. >> They're dealing with what they call the topline item is the Jesus issue. In efforts to combine a one world church, some of the most powerful people in the world, the line item that sits at the top is the Jesus issue. End quotes. Already in the European Union, several individual comu uh countries are only one step away from forbidding religious bigotry and outlaw outlawing proceliting in the name of any religion especially Christianity. And this is all part of Satan's strategy because he knows if you can just take away this one thing. If you can take away this one name, it doesn't matter how much unity, it doesn't matter how much tolerance. It doesn't matter how peaceful it feels. It doesn't matter how much it makes you. Without the name, we are nothing. Paul says, "Don't give into it." 2 Corinthians 11, he speaks to the church at Corenth. He says, "But I fear lest be lest by any man's as a serpent begal Eve through his subtility that you so your mind should be corrupted from the simplicity that is in Christ. For if he that cometh and preacheth any another Jesus >> whom we have not preached, or if you receive another spirit which we have not received, or another gospel which we have not accepted, ye might well bear with him. The word simplicity there is powerful. It means singleness. Singleness and hear this next word and exclusiveness. In other words, don't be led away from the truth of one God to another Jesus who isn't the true God, but he's just a part. There's people that want you to be politically correct. There's people that want you to say, "Hey, we're just all saying the same thing." Truly, the conflict of the ages boils down to the same one. that was asked to Moses in Egypt, what is his name? So John 14 and six, it all goes back to this extremely intolerant verse. I've never been pushed back anymore on the internet than preaching the intolerance or the exclusiveness, the simplicity of Christ in John 14:6. >> That's right. >> People do not like it. >> Can I just be honest with you? They they cannot they cannot stand it. there for some reason in people's mind there's got to be an a back door. >> There's got to be a side entrance. There's got to way be another way. But he says, "No, Jesus said unto him, I am >> what what did he tell Moses?" Moses asked, well, what is his name? >> I am. >> He says, I am the way, >> the truth. and thee like no man cometh unto the father but by me. >> So the age-old struggle, the age-old problem, the fight that this church and generation after generation after generation will continue to have to preach, continue to have to stand for, continue to have to explain. And I'm so thankful pastor continues to preach the oneness of God. It is our foundation here. O Israel, the Lord our God is one. Why? Because if you don't get him as one, you can't give him one name. If you separate him into three part, he can't have one name. Every scripture I've just read you is null and void. Is it the spirit's name? Is it the father's name? Is it No, we got to make them all one. >> It's the scripture. It's the oneness of God. It's the true identity. And so because of this, you can bring brokenness and doubt and fear and frustrations. And Jesus, the name of Jesus can be spoken over you tonight. >> The name of Jesus can be spoken over you. You can be filled with his spirit tonight. You can be baptized tonight. You can be delivered tonight. You can be healed tonight. Just you you you got to let let go of all the labels of the world. You got to let go of all of the things >> this world is trying to fight us. Just say, "Hey, just do away with that name." Matthew 7:2022. In closing, many will say and say to me in that day, Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in thy name? And in thy name cast out devils and in thy name done many wonderful works. says, "Then I will profess unto them, I never knew you. Depart from me, ye that work in you work iniquity." Luke 6:46 and says, "And why call ye me Lord, Lord, and do not the things which I say." Now, I read you that text. You say, "Why would you go to that text?" Thought you were saying, "If we do things in his name and we live with that label and we be people, we're people of the name, we're going to make it." Like I happened to see a clip the other day that so perfectly and if I I I felt like it was appropriate, I would have played it, but it was it's not in my intentions to do any harm or to embarrass anyone. But right now, there's a backsliden church, let's call it that way, group of people that is racing into the arms of Satan's strategy for this one world church. very well-known, a very well-known Christian evangelist was interviewed just a few weeks ago on a TV network and was asked point blank the question. Will the Muslims be saved? Will the Jewish people be saved if they don't believe in Jesus? Clearly, the evangelist as he begins to be asked questions, he begins to back himself in a corner. You could tell he becomes very uncomfortable. He knew the press would crucify him if his response was not politically correct. I guess I ask you tonight, how would you have responded in this crucial moment several weeks ago? This well-known evangelist said, "Muslims truly love Jesus, and the Jews have the spirit of Jesus in them, and they're both going to be saved." and he completely caved under pressure to the question, what is it's the same struggle, right? >> You're just you're scrolling through it. You're seeing it. Many of you follow it. I see some of you like it. And it I get in such a struggle. I get in such a debate in my mind because it's it's the world can embrace a Jesus who is just a man or a good teacher or a prophet or even a part of God. In fact, millions of mixed multitude, even lukewarm people that call themselves Pentecostal have began to accept the fact that we're all just saying the same thing. It's not that I'm right and they're wrong. It's simply this is what the Bible says. And the very mantra of the devil's one world church will be Jesus. But it will be what Matthew 7 and Luke 6 are talking about. They will praise a savior that they refuse to obey. He says, "Why call me Lord? Why take on my name but not live my life? If you love me, you'll keep my commandments. So he says, many of you are going to pro you're going to profess it in my you're gonna you're gonna he's you're going to do works. You're going to be around it, but if you don't have a relationship with me. So I take you in closing, you stand to your feet tonight to a story you're all too familiar with. Peter and John, they go to the temple to worship and they happen to pass by they happened to pass by the gate where a man who was lame laid. And then it's interesting to me that they call him a lame man, but then they call the gate beautiful. So, the place has a name, but the man doesn't. We're going to the temple. The place is a beautiful place. The place is the entry into the outer courts. But we see here that it wasn't a thing where it says they Peter and John walked to the temple and they passed by Henry who laid at the gate called beautiful or they passed by Joseph who laid at the gate called beautiful. He became known by his condition. He became named by his issue, his condition, if you could see it this way, it had swallowed him up to where they nobody even knew this man's name. He was just lame. And this lame man is at a place. You just think about it. It it actually it actually when they start talking about it, Luke talks about it says that he his feet were just out of joint. That's how Dr. Luke describes the miracle. said they were just out of joint, brother Sitzer. So, he's got a mind. He's got arms that can beg. He's got a mind that knows. He's even got some people that carry him every day to the same place. He's got everything, but he's got this one thing that he's become labeled by. And I felt impressed tonight to preach this in closing. We all have at least one thing that if we're not careful, we can be in a beautiful place. We can be in a beautiful place, but become labeled by our lameness. You you you personally, you know, maybe what that one thing is. You got a mind that works. You got a hands that you can lift. But you've got that one thing that maybe nobody knows about. And I can't help but think how powerful it is that those disciples walk by and they say, "I don't have anything to give you, but in the name >> in the name of Jesus, rise up." I I don't have any silver or gold, but I can speak a name over you. I I've come as a preacher to you tonight and just tell you on a Sunday night, I don't have much to give you, but I could speak a name over you. I don't I don't know that I could solve any of your problems. We could sit down and talk through them and talk through them and talk through them. You may have sickness in your body. I can't heal you, but I got a name. Silver and gold have I none, but I've got a name tonight. You may have a worry in your mind, and I don't know there's there's anything I could do to make you feel calm or peace, but I've got a name tonight that I could call over your life. And so tonight, if you've got just one thing, if you've got a need and you want to see God do something, I open up these altars to you tonight for us to have a moment as a church body. And I pray that the people of the name could just have a few minutes tonight where we let the name of Jesus have all authority and all power over every problem, over every sickness. It's not God's will that anybody leave here lame. Anybody leave here hurting or anybody leave here with troubled minds. The peace speakers in this room right now. The God of all hope, the God of all peace is in this room. Come on. You can be baptized in his name tonight. You can take upon the name of Jesus. You can be filled with his spirit tonight. You can be healed in this room tonight. Come on, young people. Fall in love with the name of Jesus. Come on, young people. Fall in love with the name of Jesus. If you don't know what to say, just speak the name of Jesus. Come on. You'll leave walking and leaping and praising God. You'll leave a new creature in Christ Jesus. You may have walked in here nameless, but you're going to walk out with power that's been endued from on high. Father, we thank you for your presence. We speak the name of Jesus. We speak the name of Jesus. We speak the name of Jesus over every family. God, I speak the name of Jesus over every man, woman, boy, and girl in this room tonight. Jesus. Jesus. Come on. I wish every saint of God would lift your hands in this place. Come on, people of God. Come on. We are more than conquerors. Don't let the devil label you by anything you've done. Don't let the devil label you by anything you've done in your past. Come on. That is not the will of God tonight. The devil is a liar. Come on. The devil is a liar. I speak to the anxious tonight in Jesus name. I speak to the mother who's depressed tonight in Jesus name. I speak to the addicted tonight in Jesus name. Come on church. Why don't you find somebody to pray with for a few moments?
